ACCA organized a 2-day workshop and recognition ceremonies for the position holders in matric and intermediate examinations of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Peshawar.

Featuring prominent corporate leaders and academicians, the workshops focused on following themes:  ‘Power of Connections – Enabling the future’ and ‘Power of Connections from Education to work-readiness’.

The aim of the event was to recognize and motivate the position holders and their parents and to create awareness on the importance of building connections and developing modern skills to future-proof careers.

The ceremony was attended by position holders, parents, ACCA members, ACCA’s Approved Learning Partners and senior profiles from leading employers.

The conversation leaders who spoke on the first day of the event shared their valuable inputs on the importance of connections in building a successful career. Sher Muhammad, Group Head – HR, The Bank of Khyber, Nabeela Afridi, Manager – Women Entrepreneurship Development, SMEDA, Saad Bashir, Associate Consultant, PwC Bangladesh, Suniel Jamil, Group General Manager Zakori Group of Industries and Afrasiab Ahsan Nawab, Head of Business Development – North ACCA Pakistan were among the speakers.

On the day 02 of the event, leaders shared their insights on the theme ‘Power of Connections – Education to work-readiness’.  Dr. Raza Ullah, Assistant professor and Coordinator Academia – Employer Linkage, Islamia College University Peshawar, Yawar Muhammad, Director Tax, Rafaqat Babar & Co. and Saad Bashir, Associate Consultant, PwC Bangladesh shared their opinions on how to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Asad Malik Mahmood, Business Development Manager – Peshawar, ACCA shared his thought process on the power of Connections in today’s evolving world which has a key impact on our professional and personal lives.

He emphasized that events like these reflect ACCA’s commitment towards advancing the public interest and building future-ready talent.

The Professionals’ Academy of Commerce (PAC) and SKANS School of Accountancy also supported ACCA with the ceremony.

Catwalk Event Management and Productions under the aegis of Catwalk Cares is hosting an extremely important conference: ‘Stop Child Abuse’ (Through Awareness and Commitment) on Saturday, August 31^st, 2019 from 1:30 pm – 6.00 pm at Avari Towers, Karachi.

Ms. Rabiya Javeri Agha, Secretary, Ministry Human Rights will grace the event as the Chief Guest.

The underlying impetus of the conference is to raise awareness and shed light on the myriad types of abuse against children and to energize the populace to commit and find solutions to prevent abuse and protect children and their human rights.

Relevant topics that will be highlighted during the ‘Stop Child Abuse’ conference include Physical, Mental and Emotional Violence against Children; Child Sexual Abuse, Child Prostitution, and Trafficking, Child Pornography/Cyber Crime; Child Labour; Child Domestic Violence; Child Marriage, Bullying and Corporal Punishment at Schools among other related topics.

The conference will include pertinent discussions and presentations related to the aforementioned topics and themes followed by Q&A sessions.  A diverse assembly of recognized and prominent speakers will address these core issues.

Speakers include Manizeh Bano (Executive Director of Sahil), Sheena Hadi (Ahung Foundation) Senator Javed Jabbar and barrister, a human rights lawyer, activist Hassan Niazi, singer, and educationalist Shehzad Roy.

Frieha Altaf, CEO at Catwalk & Catwalk Cares is taking the initiative of creating a platform to elucidate, educate and find solutions to deal with issues of childhood abuse and help survivors of childhood sexual abuse speak up.

The Ministry of Science and Technology has introduced a new brand of mineral water. The brand is called ‘Safe Drinking Water’ and only costs Rs. 1 per litre.

According to available details, the project is in its pilot phase and the bottles have been allocated in government offices only as of now.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has shared that this is a step towards the right direction. He added that this step was taken in light of the government’s austerity measures.

Reportedly, the Pakistan Council of Research and Water Reserves have so far prepared 500 ml bottles for the water.

As of now, the water will be served to all officials including those at PM House.

Mohammad Khalil Akhtar Becomes the First Pakistani to qualify for 2020 Tokyo Olympics!

Additional IG Karachi, Ghulam Nabi Memon on Sunday shared the security plan for Muharram processions at a high-level meeting.

The meeting was attended by Advisor to CM Murtaza Wahab, DG Rangers Major General Omer Ahmed Bokhari, IG Sindh Dr Kaleem Imam, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shahlwani.

As well as, Additional IG CTD Kamran Fazal, Additional IG Special Branch Imran Minhas, Secretary Local Government Khalid Hyder Shah, Sector Commanders of intelligence agencies, the provincial head of Intelligence Bureau, Col M. Nasir of 5 Corps, Col Faisal and other officials.

Presided over by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Ghulam Nabi Memon shared that the 9th Moharram processions will begin at 12 noon from Nishtar Park.

It will be carried out through Guru Mandar – New M.A Jinnah Road and Namze Zohrain would be offered at VVIP Gate of Mazar-e-Quaid.

Furthermore, the procession would pass through Peoples Roundabout, New M.A Jinnah Road, Saddar Dawakhana, Empress Market, Regal Chowk, Tibet Center, Plastic Market to Hussainian Iranian Imambargah. There are expected to be over 30,000 mourners in the procession.

Moving on to the 10th Moharram procession, Additional IG Karachi shared that it will start from Nishatar Park. The route would be the same, however, Namaze Zohrain would be offered at Tibet Center at 1:30 pm.

The procession will end at Hussianina Iranian Imambrgah at 1800 hours. As many as 50,000 mourners are expected.

In order to secure the area, police officers will be deployed to nearby rooftops and walk through gates will be installed. Bomb disposal squad would sweep the areas and all the entry points.
