But, that had caused an unseen crack which had subsequently led to the windows smashing when they had been hit with a steel ball.

The automaker already released the specs for the truck. It is going to be available in three options:

In this time of crisis, Punjab University has announced not to increase the fee. Moreover, the University has increased the research fund and allotted a separate amount of money, which is about Rs. One hundred fifty-two million for the students on scholarship.

Punjab University has taken this decision even though it is already facing financial turmoil. The University would generate around 72.4% of the budget from its sources, while the Higher Education Commission will provide a grant for the rest amount for the budget of 2020-2021.

An exemplary step by Punjab University

On the one hand, most universities are raising their fee because of the pandemic. On the other hand, Punjab University has made an exemplary decision. This step deserves to be praised.

This will help students and their families as they are dealing with the fear of pandemic and the inevitable economic stress along with it. Punjab University has announced that students that were admitted on the sports quota will continue their studies free of cost.

They can also avail the boarding facilities of the University if they wish. Furthermore, the students of Punjab University who are Hafiz e Quran will not have to pay their tuition fees. In addition to this, Punjab University has allocated a fund for students to attend national and international conferences as well as other co-curricular activities.

Will other educational institutes follow?

Now that the PU has set an example, we hope other private and government universities will be following its path. Students all over the country have already been demanding a decrease in tuition fees. It is because almost all universities are conducting online classes, which means universities have to bare minimum expenses.

Universities are not providing internet, electricity, or transportation now. They only have to pay the staff and faculty. Universities should have decreased the semester fee or returned the price for Fall 2020, at least. Instead, most of the educational institutions are increasing costs all over the country.

Provincial and national governments should hold the educational institutes responsible and accountable.

Do you think that other universities will follow Punjab University’s example now? Lets us know in the comments below.

The myth of marriage appropriate age

In the desi culture, men and women are believed to have a marriage appropriate age. You would often hear people say things like, “shadi ki umar nikal jaye gi (the age for marriage will pass).” This idea is deeply rooted in our culture and the minds of people here.

The question is, why is getting married at a young age more important than taking your time and finding and settling with the right person.

Acclaimed singer Haroon Rashid’s past work

Haroon Rashid is a British-born Pakistani singer, songwriter, music producer, composer, director, and social activist. Haroon started his career in music with the acclaimed band Awaz. He and his friends made the first Urdu song titled Janeman to air on MTV Asia.

He later started his solo career and released some of his solo albums. Haroon Rashid has advocated for social activism through his songs. He has raised issues like peace and tolerance. Haroon also created and directed the multiple award-winning children’s TV series called Burka Avenger.

Is it unfortunate that despite the singer’s many accomplishments, all people care about is his “late marriage.”

What do you think about this desi myth of the appropriate age of marriage? Let us know in the comments below.

How are they different?

Before Saaf.pk was even founded, those behind the name felt that something was missing in the cleaning market. Most companies treat these services as an inferior business. Consequently, they hire average laborers who do not have any relevant experience or knowledge. Because of these things, a general perception has developed cleaning services, which is that they are low-level businesses.

However, Saaf.pk wanted to change this concept. In their team, they have educated and relevantly professional, knowledgable team members. They aimed to make this business one that is respected, and they have been making their mark ever since. Saaf.pk now also dominates the cleaning market and has been doing so for years.

What cleaning services do they provide?

They provide a wide variety of cleaning services for your space:

1. Onspot Sofa Cleaning.
2. Onspot Carpet Cleaning.
3. Onspot Mattress Cleaning.
4. Deep Floor, Window, Walls Cleaning.

  1. General Fumigation.
  2. Cockroach Fumigation.
  3. Bedbugs Fumigation.
  4. Rat Control.
  5. Termite Control.
  6. Disinfection Services & More

Why you need to avail their services

Saaf.pk is the first of their kind to be using eco-friendly products. Yes, you heard that, right! Now, you don’t need to choose between the environment or your space because they care for both. They also value their cleaning operatives and counsel them every month, which the majority of the companies do not do. Their staff is trained on teamwork and leadership, motivated and responsive as well. Lastly, they are always flexible to the customer’s needs. So rest assured, you come first.

The Saaf.pk team has also previously cleaned the Synergy office, and their services were excellent! The workers were following all regular SOPs and made sure to disinfect each inch of the area. We were highly impressed too.

4 On-going Pakistani Dramas That Aren’t Making Any Sense

Pakistani Dramas

Art and artists hold great importance in exporting the image and culture of a nation. Art represents what a culture holds, and culture holds what its art represents. The story in the current ongoing Pakistani dramas and films revolves around love, marriage, second marriage, and extra-marital affairs. Everything that does not relate a tad bit to an average Pakistani youth.

Although Pakistan’s youth has only seen a crippled struggling movie industry, the drama industry, somewhat, made up for that. Pakistan has produced some incredible dramas even with a low budget and simple storylines. I remember binge-watching Ashir Azeem’s Dhuwan on a Saturday night with my father. At the end of it, I felt awful that this drama was not appreciated enough nowadays.

Here are some of the ongoing Pakistani dramas that don’t make any sense AT ALL:

4. Jhooti

Jhooti seems to follow the trend set by last year’s most misogynist drama award winner: Mere Paas Tum Ho. Our dramas are now exploring the stories regarding lying and cheating women after making every possible story about lying and cheating men. Though, there is one big difference between these two types of story telling: cheaters can become a better person and earn forgiveness, but only if they are men.

Jhooti is the story of a greedy girl who lies and manipulates. She has a supportive father and a loving husband. She has every bad quality a person can have. In a teaser, she is even shown faking bruises and falsely accusing her husband of domestic abuse.

3. Ishqiya

Last year, Kabir Singh, an extremely controversial Bollywood movie was released. The main character of this drama seems to be inspired by Kabir Singh. In Ishqiya, Hamna and Hamza are in love; surprise, surprise! Hamna’s family doesn’t know about it. They find a match for her. She marries this other guy, Azeem.

Since Hamza is a psychopath with anger issues, he gears up for revenge. So, the guy marries Hamna’s sister, Rumi, for revenge. He later continues to threaten and harass Hamna while her sister falls for him. The portrayal of such a character as a hero in such a society where violence against women is a huge issue makes absolutely no sense at all.

2. Jalan

Jalan, currently on-aired on ARY Digital, brings the same old repetitive story that has already been explored by what seems like a million dramas. This is the story of a girl falling for her older sister’s husband (cringe-worthy, I know).

Though the drama is in the 3rd episode, we all can figure out where the story is going to go and how it will end. It would not be wrong to say that the drama portrays a sick portrayal of family. The show has a stellar cast, including Minal Khan, Emmad Irfani, and Areeba Habib.

1. Mera Dil, Mera Dushman

It was hard for me to decide if Mera Dil, Mera Dushman, should be ranked first or Jalan as both have incredibly sick storylines. Here, a young girl and boy fall for each other. The girl’s family forces her to marry an older man who turns out to be the guy’s uncle. The guy later marries the uncle’s daughter due to some family drama.

So, now the girl is his step mother-in-law with whom he is in love with. Do you feel disgusted too? Yeah, tell me about it. This drama, again, has a great cast including reel life boyfriend and girlfriend, Noman Sami and Alizeh Shah, and famous producer-director, Yasir Nawaz.

Which ongoing Pakistani drama do you think is making no sense at all? Let us know in the comments below.

Hania Aamir Shares Her Thoughts On Wearing A Hijab

Hania Amir's hijab picture from college days

Hania Amir just shared her thoughts on wearing a hijab. In a recent interview, a picture of her, wearing a hijab, was brought up to which she responded. The famed actress took that lead to talk about wearing a hijab for cultural reasons. Keep reading to find out what she thinks!

Hania Amir’s History With A Hijab

Initially, she mentions that her family moved to Abottabad, which is a highly conservative area. She felt that that gave her the leeway to try a Hijab out without being judged by too many people. Amir added that she enjoyed wrapping one and did it with full interest using the turban and all.

However, after a while, she began feeling as if this was unjustified. Moreover, people around her also started assuming different reasons for which she was taking a Hijab. Amir also thought she was doing it for the wrong reasons and decided to part ways with it. When questioned further about it, she responded in a humoring manner. Amir laughed and said she used to wear jeans and a t-shirt and wrap a hijab with them; she never went for a burka.

The scrutiny of celebrities

Celebrities are victim to more scrutiny than any average person. They are on the screens available for hundreds and thousands. As a result, those thousands of people feel entitled to express their opinion on the behavior of such celebrities.

Had Hania Amir started wearing a Hijab randomly, she would be questioned and commented on a lot. However, if because of that she had taken it off, she’d be no better. It’s out of the pan and into the fire for most cases!

Cultural Obligations To Be Modest

In most regions of Pakistan, often, women are coerced into being “modest,” even though they don’t fully resonate with the practice. That is not to say that it’s wrong to be wearing western clothing alongside a Hijab or not wearing a hijab or burka at all despite being a Muslim.

The tuft between the compulsion to wear it and the need to take it off

The world was enraged when France announced the ‘no veil law’ and started implementing it. It banned French Muslims to cover their faces while following their religion.

On the other hand, Saudia Arabia does not allow any woman to be in public without wearing an abaya. Foreign women are “encouraged” to wear them too. People are enraged at not being able to wear it, why are they not angered at not being ready not to wear it?

Since everyone started to support Syra this frenzy, a viral clip of Syra Yousuf has been making rounds on the internet. In the clip, Syra revealed that she got an offer from Hollywood while she was giving an interview to HSY.

However, she also said that she had rejected the offer. When HSY asked her the reason for rejecting it, here’s what Syra had to say,

I had to Reject it. When they sent me the script, the role was a bit too bold for me. It isn’t necessary to project everything as it is. I believe in that. Even if you are playing a role of a mistress, it isn’t necessary to get naked.”

Here’s the video:

We love her decision as it’s something her fans would’ve expected from her. However, Syra has worked in several projects, including Pakistani films as well. Her most notable projects which are loved by many are Mera Naseeb, Bilqee Kaur, Chalay Thay Saath, Project Ghazi, Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay, and so many more!

Moreover, according to the masses, Pakistani celebrities should promote themselves while working across the borders. They also tend to believe that since our industry is now growing and evolving, Pakistani celebrities should focus more on it rather than other entertainment industries.

On the other hand, some believe that it’s a fantastic way to promote Pakistan and its talent internationally. They also say that more and more people around the world should be able to recognize Pakistani talent and how our industry and celebrities are progressing.

Tesla Overtakes Toyota to Become the World’s Highest-Valued Automaker!

Tesla vs Toyota
PC: Teslaonly.com

On Wednesday, Tesla Inc became the world’s highest-valued automaker as their shares skyrocketed at record-high. Tesla’s market capitalization overtook the previous crown holder Toyota Motors Corp.

Reportedly, Tesla has gained 5% during the morning trade at a record of $1,133, which boosted the electric car maker’s market cap to an unbelievable $209.47 billion.

Tesla has now gained an approximately $6 billion gain on Toyota. Moreover, Tesla is now worth three times the value of General Motors Co and even Ford Motor Co.

Overall, Tesla’s shares have jumped by a whopping 163% since the start of 2020, and more confidence has grown amongst the investors in regards to the bright future of electric vehicles, which is the brand’s niche.

Tesla has had some ups and down with many losses along the way if we summarize the past couple of years altogether. However,  the third-quarter of 2019 came as a pleasant surprise; investors reported a decent umber of first-quarter deliveries despite the global coronavirus pandemic.

Before Tesla, Toyota has been dominating the automotive market by being one of the world’s most profitable auto manufacturers as it sold 10.46mn units of cars in 2019. Reportedly, it generated $281.20 billion during the fiscal year.

Whereas on the other hand, Tesla generated total revenue of $24.6 billion by delivering 367,200 units. Tesla’s Chief Executive Elon Musk has said that the automaker targets to hit the 500,000 targets for 2020, despite the pandemic.

Tesla will be sharing its reports for the second quarter later this week.

Tesla’s Cyber Truck

The Tesla Cybertruck became a worldwide viral hit after founder Elon Musk displayed the on its debut day. But, what people remember from the launch event was how the windows of the truck smashed!

The vehicle was first struck with a sledgehammer in what appeared to be a successful demonstration of its armor body’s strength.

But, that had caused an unseen crack which had subsequently led to the windows smashing when they had been hit with a steel ball.

https://youtu.be/udxR5rBq_Vg

The automaker already released the specs for the truck. It is going to be available in three options:

  • Single Motor RWD with 250 miles, 3,500 lbs payload capacity and 7,500 lbs of towing capacity – for $39,900
  • Dual Motor AWD with over 300 miles, 3,500 lbs payload capacity and 10,000 lbs towing capacity – for $49,900
  • Tri-Motor AWD with over 500 miles, 3,500 lbs of payload and 14,000 pounds of towing capacity – Starting from $69,900

Nonetheless, we are still very much intrigued by Musk’s creation and are looking forwards to this GTA inspired ride to launch officially.

Angry PUBG Fans On Twitter Want PTA To Lift The Ban

PUBG Ban

Its fans on Twitter are now challenging PUBG’s ban in Pakistan. The hashtag #unbanPUBGinPakistan is gaining momentum as they argue their case on the microblogging site. This, all, is in response to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) being banned by PTA in Pakistan due to health concerns. Now that Twitterati is done with trolling the fans, the fans are back in action to get their favorite game back.

What Are They Saying for PUBG?

Fans are expressing their disagreement and discouragement of PTA’s decision. A rumor is going around that the PTA’s official site was hacked yesterday after the ban.

Additionally, concerns are being raised is against Tiktok. Citing recent unfortunate deaths of two teenagers, they’re asking why TikTok is not banned?

Moreover, they’re shedding light on how, for many, PUBG was a source of earning. Young children were able to earn money from the game somehow, which they can not now. PUBG is being referred to as a ‘career’ through which others get into YouTube blogging/vlogging or freelancing.

Does Banning the Game Change Anything?

Another important factor being discussed is how this will not change anything. They are saying, ‘Gaming is not a crime.’ PUBG may be a violent and intense game, but it has an age limit of 17 and above. Their parents should control those children who play at a younger age. According to users on Twitter, why must responsible players be punished for others?

Secondly, a lot of discussions are being done on suicide rates. People believe that banning a game can not change suicide statistics; the cause for suicide lie elsewhere. Education, economy, mental health are all factors that can cause suicides. However, they are not being regulated.

It also begs the questions: will the youngsters not choose another similar game after this? Will that be banned too? How many games will we ban?

Health Concerns over PUBG

The adverse side effects of playing PUBG are grave. Since the game is exceptionally violent, it can desensitize young children to violence. That can result in them becoming apathetic and more prone to being violent themselves. Moreover, it can be extremely addictive, which in turn can make the player socially inactive and awkward. It can take up all their time and affect their performance at school, work, or behavior with family members too.

What We Need To Do

Instead of a ban, perhaps a more friendly approach would suit better. The onus is on the parents here. They need to ensure whether their child is playing a game he/she is underage for. If it’s too late, and they see the side effects in their child, then seeking therapy is a viable option. Teenagers who become addicted to any game, not just PUBG, must be counseled to ensure healthy growth and mental health.

6 Tips to Beat Insomnia & Get Better Sleep

sleep

It has been almost four months since we are locked back home, and many of us are having trouble with our newly formed sleeping patterns. Getting better sleep is essential; it is directly linked to our productivity.

While fear and anxiety, due to the ongoing pandemic, can be the reason behind you not being in the best of state to sleep better, there could be other reasons as well. It is possible, due to the change in routine, your body just feels overwhelmed.

So what do you do to sleep better and beat insomnia? In this article, we will discuss six tips that can help you relax back and get a good night’s sleep.

1- Blue Light: While few of us are cautious enough to turn blue light off our phones, laptops, pads, tv, and other devices, many do not even know how they can play a significant role in disturbing your sleep cycle.

Here’s a trick: Many devices have an option, where the tools timely turn the blue light off automatically. Look into your device’s settings to make necessary changes.

How Can You Limit Blue Light with Night Shift on iPhone

2- Ditch Devices After Sunset: Just after sunset, ditch all the devices. Reconnect with nature, or just relax and pick up a book. Your body actively needs nourishment, and so does your brain. A hot shower, a hearty meal, little family time can substitute for long hours spent on social media.

3- Keep the Bedroom for Sleeping Purposes Only: Leave all your devices behind once going to bed. Typically bedrooms have a TV connected to Netflix and all kinds of exciting mediums that can force you to stay up at odd hours, which might as well just solve your problem.

Remove them from your sleeping area, dim the lights, get into a comfy attire. All these things should help you beat insomnia.

4- Maintain a Routine: You must maintain a routine even in the lockdown. Sleep on time so you can wake up on time and soak in the morning sun. This will help you sleep on time the following night and hence, become a habit of falling asleep quickly.

5- Naps: Napping is excellent when you have tons of work but not during the lockdown. Our movement is already significantly restricted. Physically our bodies are relatively less tired than our minds. If you nap between the day for long hours, sleeping at night can become a considerably more significant issue.

Skip the day time naps. Focus on getting the work done and sleeping only at night.

6- Sleep Inducing Essential Oils: Some sleep-inducing essential oils can help. Try using a few drops of Lavender Oil and Chamomile Oil behind your ears. These oils will help you greatly in relaxing your mind and falling asleep.

To top it all of, try indulging into healthy habits. Have a balanced diet, cut down on excessive sugar, incorporate workouts in your routine, drink enough water.

A healthy mind and a healthy body both will help you sleep better.

Please note that you must be able to identify if not being able to sleep has something to do with medication or another condition.

How Schools Are Reopening Amid Pandemic Around the World

Schools across the world shut their doors for kids due to the ongoing pandemic at the beginning of 2020. After almost four months, schools have started reopening in the developed world amid the pandemic.

According to UNESCO, “lockdown due the pandemic has partially or fully closed schools for over 90% of the world’s student population across 186 countries and territories”.

Novel Coronavirus that was first detected in Wuhan, China, has killed almost 52,000 people, while 10,849,244 cases have been reported across the globe since December 2019.

Schools in Pakistan May also re-open under strict SOPs: Read the full story here:

COVID-19: Schools in Pakistan May Re-Open Under Strict SOPs

In Pakistan, 220,000 cases have been reported, while 4,500 people have lost their lives to the virus.

Six countries have opened their school doors once again, but it doesn’t mean the world is back to normal. These institutions are only operational after strict SOP’s have been implemented.

In Norway, schools opened back in April.

In Japan, schools reopened their doors in early April as it was time for the new school year to begin.

Education Minister of Japan, Koichi Hagiuda, told a leading news source that, “The circumstances of each area are different, and it will be much more effective to judge based on the actual ground situation rather than dictating a policy measure nationwide.”

After extending winter break, schools in Taiwan reopened in February.

In China, few schools have reopened in March. However, many are still closed.

Denmark became the first European country to open its schools during the lockdown on April 15.

On April 20th, Norway reopened kindergarten school. Later, on April 27, they opened primary schools for children (grades 1 – 4).

At the beginning of April, Prime Minister Erna Solberg said during a conference that, “Together we have taken control of the virus; therefore we can open up society little by little.”

While Germany reopened high school for high school seniors on the 20th of April.

According to UNESCO, 40% of schools have reopened as of now.

Here’s a look at the new normal:

While schools in certain countries have opened, the rest of the world remains under strict lockdown. Mandatory masks, thermal scanners, and schedules that don’t bring together a significant sum of people are some of the solutions that might as well work now.

Have something to add? Do you think schools in Pakistan should open anytime soon?

Facebook Blocks Trump’s Ads For Breaching Its Hate Policies

Facebook Blocks Trump's Ads For Breaching Its Hate Policies

Trump’s re-election campaign ads featured Nazi symbols. They recently got taken down by Facebook due to a breach of hate policies. Moreover, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife released a statement saying they were “disgusted.”

What Is the Antifa group?

The Antifa group is short for anti-fascist protestors. This group has been on the frontlines to fight against racial supremacy and police brutality. Mostly such protestors hide their identities for safety concerns, but now, some are speaking out.

Antifa protestors

Their goal is to control the spread of fascism, and Trump’s supports are directly attacking them. Trump believes that the Antifa group is assembling to be violent all over America.

How Are Trump’s Supporters Attacking Them

Trump’s re-election campaign has begun, and political advertisements promoting his agenda are everywhere. Amongst this, a scandal emerged when his supporters started using a particular symbol for the Antifa group. The symbol was an upside-down triangle.

The symbol being used to target the Antifa group

To an uninformed person, this may look unsuspicious, but it is not. The Anti Defamation league clarified that it “is practically identical to that used by the Nazi regime to classify political prisoners in concentration camps.”

Why That Is Completely Intolerable

The Holocaust remains the most traumatizing event we have witnessed in our history. The symbol was used to classify prisoners in concentration camps where horrors were familiar. Are we still tolerating that in the 21st century? While on one end, the racism’s foundations are being demolished, Trump’s supporters are bringing back anti-semitism. Trump’s message implies that dissent will be controlled the way it was in Hitler’s time.

Posters, clothes, stickers, magnets are being made using the same symbol. Responding to criticism about it, Trump’s campaign said Antifa commonly used this symbol. However, despite research by many that are seemingly untrue.

What Facebook Is Doing About It

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chang are deeply disturbed by Trump’s message, as they said in a statement.

Other than that, Facebook also took action against the ads. The posts and advertisements were removed for violating their policies against organized hate. Facebook’s removal of the ads could also escalate tensions between the White House and Silicon Valley.

Above all, this prompt action in the middle of an on-going movement against Facebook is fitting. The #StopHateForProfit is asking all brands to halt their paid advertisements on the platform for July.

What Can Be Expected In The Future

The populist leader has had possibly the most problematic regime of all time. All disgusting and intolerant ideologies of Islamophobia, racism, and sexism peaked during his time. His re-election campaign is not bound to be any more progressive, but references to the Holocaust are condemnable. Trump has already proven himself to be a fascist leader, and if he continues with these references, can we underestimate him?
