A notification was issued by Punjab governers secretariat stating that the teaching of the Holy Quran with Urdu translation in universities will become mandatory for all existing and future students.

Students in Punjab will not be awarded a degree if he/she has not taken the Holy Quran as a course. The notification said, “Lecturers in all the universities of Punjab will teach the Holy Quran with translation to all students.”

It is notable to mention that the Holy Quran with Urdu translation will be completely separate from Islamic studies.

The resolution passed in the National Assembly stated that our country’s official name is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which essentially means that the teaching of the Sunnah and the Holy Quran will be studied as the highest law.

“Therefore, it is necessary to make proper arrangements for the understanding of the Holy Quran in universities.”

Non-Muslim students can be offered an ethics course instead of the Holy Quran. The notification also emphasized that “the Quran course may have equivalent to one credit hour per year (Theory/Practical) as the relevant University feels appropriate. However, the HEC limit of total credit hours in the Undergraduate program must be followed.”

The resolution further says that “the assessment of the Quran course must require each candidate to pass/fail. The student may be further assigned a grade as in any other credit subject if University feels necessary/appropriate.”

The committee’s members included King Edward Medical University (KEMU) Prof Dr. Masood Gondal, University of Education VC Prof Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) VC Prof Mansoor Sarwar, University of Health Sciences (UHS) VC Dr. Javaid Akram, Government College University (GCU) VC Prof Dr. Asghar Zaidi and Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) VC Dr. Bushra Mirza.

Another Resolution was Passed Unanimously

Another resolution was passed on Kashmir Martyrs’ Day unanimously that extended political and diplomatic support to the people living in Kashmir. It also condemned the brutalities carried out by the Indian soldiers in the region.

“This House extends Pakistan’s diplomatic and political support to the right to self-determination of Kashmiris as ensured in United Nations Security Council resolutions and demands an immediate end to the brutal acts in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK),” said the resolution.

A PML-N member, Ayesha Ghous Pasha, condemned the PTI government’s move for permitting Indian’s to access the Wagah border for trade purposes.

She asked, “I want to know why the government has allowed the opening of Wagah border on the Martyrs’ Day?”. She demanded the government to share information regarding the conditions that were set before opening the Afghan transit for trade.

Also, why is the government facilitating India with trade and that too on Kashmir Martyr’s Day? She further asked, “Is the opening of Wagah border for trade a gesture of showing loyalty to Kashmiris?”

Ayesha Omer Gracefully Hits Back At A Troll Who Tried To Bully Her

Ayesha Omer troll

Trolling and cyberbullying seem to be increasing rapidly. Be it a celebrity or a non-celebrity; people can be brutally rude to others when it comes to social media. As much as social media has significant powers to do wonders, it also has the potential to cause destruction.

In the past, many horrifying instances have taken place where people have been brutally trolled online, which has resulted in depression and, in worst-case scenarios, suicide. For most, it’s easy for people to use foul language to address someone they dislike or go to extremer measures.

Celebrities victims of bullying

Even celebrities have been victims of such bullying, and it’s absolutely to know how people can stoop so low to hurt others. However, some celebrities have mastered the art of tackling their haters and putting them back in their place.

Just recently, Ayesha Omer became a victim of such bullying, but she hit back. On Monday, the Pakistani diva shared a picture of herself beside the ocean. The bubbly star captioned the picture’ Advice from an Ocean’. Little did she know that she would be trolled for posting this.

Here’s the post that Ayesha Omer had shared on her Instagram

Here’s what the users had to comment:

The hate is unacceptable!

Being beautifully polite. Ayesha Omer has such grace!

We loved the fact that some were seen supporting her while she was being trolled. This is precisely what we need nowadays to see people supporting and empowering each other.

What are your thoughts on the way Ayesha Omer dealt with the online trolls?? Let us know in the comments below.

#MBBS Trends On Twitter & Pakistanis Have A Lot To Say!

MBBS students share their struggles

MBBS is regularly taking its spot on Twitter’s trends nowadays. Last time it was trending, students spoke about their struggles in the most humorous of ways. However, this time it’s not all jokes. If you want to pursue the MBBS degree or you know someone who currently is, this one is for you!

The Race of Medical Students

If you’ve seen three idiots, you’ll know that all academic pursuits are toxic races. However, medical degrees take the cake. From the rigorous acceptance process to the 1000s of tests, you have to clear to the leg and the arm you have to donate to finance it, ‘medical’ can be a nightmare.

Students forget who they were, why they’re doing that and who they’re doing it for. As MBBS trends on Twitter, find out what they’re saying:

The ATM Dreams

According to half the students on Twitter, the primary reasons students opt for this degree is not passion. It’s a financial incentive. Our culture is starkly different from the Western. While money is still valued there, it is not synonymous with other things. For instance, in Pakistan, wealth immediately grants you respect and holds you above the law.

Most students, although funnily, wrote about what they’re going to be earning soon. More money also means more marriage prospects, greater respect, and comfortable life.

Gone Are The Happy Days

Students also expressed their sentiments in a humorous way regarding their selves. The degree can become so over-powering and over-whelming that you can forget how to socialize thoroughly.

Medical students also complain about not having any self-respect left by the second year of their degree. The back and forth between books, being taken for granted by teachers, can boil down your self prestige.

Struggles of MBBS students

Many also joked about being a first-year, not knowing one bone from another and yet being called a doctor. But, they’re not complaining! They enjoy it while it lasts and quietly accepts it.

Why Something Needs To Be Done

All jokes set aside; this is the second time students are gathering to joke about their situations. All degrees are tough to pursue. However, the pressure a medical degree exerts is unlike any other. Isn’t it time for their voices to be heard? Compromising of the mental health of the students should not be a rite of passage for a degree.

Focus on extra-curricular, regular breaks, and more significant gaps in the semesters can be some of the strategies implemented to keep the students afloat. Many students are passionate about becoming doctors, yet they can not take the pressure. Education of the path to a profession should be all-inclusive.

This Pakistani Guy Thinks Men Should Ask For Degrees In Dowry

dowry pakistan

A few days ago, a Twitter user, Saad, tweeted on the lack of educational opportunities for women in our society. He addressed the issue of parents not allowing their daughters to study further.

One of the main reasons for this is financial problems, along with cultural restrictions and lack of awareness. He provided the solution to this problem that guys should replace the other objects in dowry with a degree.

The Twitter user believes that, in this way, parents will start worrying about their daughters’ education rather than other things.

He tweeted:

This tweet gathered much praise from all social media networks. On twitter, it received more than 2 thousand likes and more than 500 retweets. The question is: is this tweet really praise-worthy or just insensitive and ignorant of the deeper problem?

The deeper problem of dowry

As I mentioned above, our society has many cultural practices that suppress women. Dowry is one of them. It should be noted that the practice of dowry has no religious significance in Islam. Dowry traces its roots back to Hinduism. It is practiced extensively in our culture because of the shared Hindu heritage.

Dowry is the cause of many problems, but it is assimilated in our culture in such a way that the rich and poor all follow it. Despite financial issues, parents still try their best to make their daughter’s dowry.

People’s reaction

In reply to the tweet, people came up with, both, funny and thought-provoking replies.

Like this person presented a solution for population control and domestic violence:

This tweep had different views on eliminating the practice of dowry:

Another Twitter user presented the cause of the problem:

In addition to this, there is a large number of girls in our society who have degrees but don’t work. It is because their husband and in-laws don’t allow them to. Thus, the whole “doctor bahu” concept came into being.

The problem is that our society rarely acknowledges women’s choices. On the one hand, it forces those women who want to work to stay at home in many cases. On the other hand, it forces those women who want to be homemakers to work.

Saad later clarified his tweet was pure satire

Furthermore, Saad later tweeted that it was satire. His tweet addressed the already existing problems in society.

He tweeted:

IBA Karachi Photoshopped Masks On People’s Faces & Its Hilarious!

Do you know what’s common between Darth Vader, Bane, Freddy, and almost every other villain ever? Face masks!

But ever since the novel coronavirus pandemic decided to change life as we know it, ordinary people are now also wearing face masks to protect themselves from the spread of the virus.

However, Pakistanis being Pakistanis; instead of wearing the masks on their face for protection, a majority are carrying them around as a fashion statement or accessory, which has been ‘forced’ upon a person.

One such ridiculous event recently took place at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi.

Recently the educational institute announced a partnership with Bank Alfalah; it is introducing Alfalah Islamic Scholarships to provide aid for five fresh undergraduate students.

The IBA, Karachi and Bank Alfalah Islamic have announced the Alfalah Islamic Scholarship Program to provide financial…

Posted by IBA – Institute of Business Administration on Tuesday, July 14, 2020

While the announcement comes as a financial relief to some students, others started to notice something strange.

In the official photographs, it was noticeable that one of the two involved parties had photoshopped masks on everyone’s face.

IBA Karachi

Notice how the lady in the middle is holding the real mask in her hands? So is the gentleman standing at the right corner?

Here’s the original picture:

IBA Karachi
PC: Huzaifa Rafiq

It goes to show that faking images and poor photoshop skills can only take one so far!

It is also very that individuals are still not taking coronavirus very seriously and are not following SOPs, which state that social distancing and wearing face masks are very important for one’s safety and the safety of others.

Social Media In Fits

IBA Karachi has social media in fits!

On the one hand, where IBA has tried to coverup their employee’s lack of following SOPs, Pakistani brands are trying to encourage the ‘aam awam’ to buy masks that match their outfits.

In Pakistan, brands like Khaadi and Alkaram are making masks. It is not just Pakistani brands, but international brands like Gucci are making masks as well.

While these masks are sustainable and environmentally friendly, they are expensive, promote capitalism, and feed into brand consciousness.

The local brands include:

  1. Khaadi
  2. Alkaram
  3. Generation
  4. Huma Adnan
  5. Ali Xeeshan and
  6. Shela Chatoor

We hope that our educational institutes take the current pandemic more seriously and encourage its employees to treat facemasks more than a carry-on accessory.

HEC To Introduce Competency-Based Education for the Upcoming Year

HEC

On Tuesday, a statement that was released by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) said that competency-based undergraduate education would be introduced across the country.

The statement mentions that the authorities at HEC have undergone an elaborate process of taking extensive consultations with more than 1000 individuals affiliated with 143 universities in Pakistan to define measures needed to enhance students’ experience.

The extensive consultation has resulted in authorities looking forward to revamping the curriculum. A “competency-based education” has been introduced in universities and colleges linked across Pakistan.

HEC proposes a solution for internet access for students from remote areas. Read the full story here:

HEC Proposes Solution for Internet Access for Students from Remote Areas

How Are Competencies Defined?

A combination of four things that includes skillset, interpersonal characteristics, knowledge, and behavior together define competencies. These characteristics help students to succeed and enhance personal growth.

Substance and Quality of Education System

“Universities had to work in such a way as to maximize the probability of such success, especially through the undergraduate degree programme, which is the flagship of any higher education system. In practice, however, this has not been the case. A major reason is that very little attention has been given in the past to this question, and therefore to the substance and quality of university education,” said The Chairman of HEC.

The chairman also added that the newly set system was based on competencies explicitly. The educational program has brought been brought in terms of the need for the hour and candidates’ success shortly. This shift is a significant change in the curriculum. In the longer run, it will prove to be extremely beneficial for the students.

The new system based on competency will be rolled out in the coming year

The statement further said that in the 21st-century, particular skills are essential such as critical and creative thinking, effective communication, problem-solving, quantitative analysis, research methods, and team building, which were not provided with the old curriculum for Pakistani students.

The latest version of the curriculum is illustrated as such that it allows these skillsets to be transmitted to students as behavioral and interpersonal attributes. This time, the educational authority is encouraging students to apply their skillset to real challenges of life rather than just acquiring knowledge in a classroom. More importance will be given to discovery, creativity, exploration, curiosity amongst students.

5 Cars That Have Depreciated In Market Value In 2020

cars
PC: Forbes

If you’ve ever had a personal experience of going to the Mobile market, then you know that once the seal is broken, the value of the products drops. Even if you’d just opened the box a minute ago, kiss its original value goodbye!

It’s more or less the same with cars too. Each car’s purchase value drops over time. There are many different factors around the reason. Some vehicles are not in demand; some don’t impress buyers, some are in poor condition, some drain the pockets.

Over time, as new cars establish benchmarks, old ones lose their value. Think about it, how many of you would buy a 1980 Daihatsu Rocky in an era where Tesla and EVs are making history?

Similarly, there are now several cars in the market which have lost from somewhere between 40-60% of their original value over time. If you are recently considering purchasing a vehicle from the international market nowadays, you may want to think again.

5. BMW 5 Series

Coca Cola’s latest technology is a testament to the brand’s innovative leadership. Say hello to the new world where touchless soda machines are a thing. Yes, you heard it right! With the latest technology of Coca Cola, you can pour drinks in your cup by only touching your phone. Keep reading to find out how!

The Latest Innovative Leap By Coca Cola

Coca Cola’s touchless freestyle soda machine is currently in the process of being introduced all over the US. Right now, there are 52000 Coca Cola freestyle machines in the US.

People get to scan a QR code on their phone without downloading any app or software. The scanning will result in options coming on the screen, asking you to choose your choice of drink. Then automatically, your cup will be filled by the machine. The only contact customers will be having will be with their phones and cups.

According to Hellman, Coca Cola’s Vice President, this week, around 50 machines will be converted to this technology. Additionally, by the end of the month, roughly 10,00 machines will be transformed. The goal is to convert all by the end of the year.

Why The Heavy Investment?

Hellman spoke about how the pandemic has affected the restaurant business. He added that the worst-hit sector was probably the restaurant and food industry. Restaurants made it a policy to discontinue the use of high touch zones like soda fountains. While restaurants were closed for the public, even the staff was not allowed to risk those areas.

Now, as the restaurants are slowly opening back up, Coca Cola took the initiative to change the landscape. The return to restaurants for quality food and entertainment must not be while compromising on health. This innovation will ensure that customers can refrain from risking their health if they go out to eat.

How Is The Public Going To Respond?

However, the Vice President remarked that the company is unsure about customers may respond to the freestyle machines. They may either love it, or it can continue to be a small part of their business. “We’ll see as the behavior evolves” is what he said to a newspaper earlier.

In addition to that, questions regarding the feasibility of the machine must not be ignored. What about those who may not have a phone or those whose phones might not be compatible with the feature? Moreover, we’re sure Coca Cola, the corporate giant, is not going to be installing these for free. After all, it’s a massive investment. So who pays?

Meet Kiran – A foodpanda Hijabi Hero Who’s Making Us Proud!

Foodpanda Hijabi Hero

As the COVID-19 has taken the world by surprise, many have fallen victim to joblessness and extreme circumstances. However, after an initially strict lockdown throughout Pakistan, the system seems to be relaxing slowly.

With many businesses shutting down or being majorly affected by the imposed lockdown, foodpanda made sure to take care of their heroes. Despite the hardships and strict SOPs announced by the government, foodpanda came up with cohesive strategies to ensure their heroes’ health along with their finances, in these challenging times.

Just recently, a viral picture of foodpanda’s hijabi hero has been making rounds on the internet. The hijabi hero is Kiran who’s a resident of Karachi, she is defying all stereotypes and setting a great example for many Pakistani women out there.

Kiran is a single mother of one who’s passionate about being able to provide for her family financially. Interestingly, she was taught how to ride a motorbike by her father and has joined the foodpanda business, six weeks ago.

In an interview, Kiran narrated the struggles she has faced and how difficult it is to be a female rider in Pakistan

Here’s what she had to say,

People forbade me from working as a female rider, narrating horrendous accidents. My father however helped me stand tall, encouraging me to follow my passion. It’s not easy to be a female rider in a country like Pakistan but by the grace of Allah all the customers have been extremely sweet and respectful towards me, asking if I need food and water.

Kiran spoke about how many people persuaded her not to work. In addition to that, she was told several terrifying stories about delivering food and being a rider. However, with Kiran’s determination and her father’s support, she’s here today!

Additionally, Kiran also hailed from a conservative family and used to be a stay-at-home mom. Thus, besides some practical obstacles, Kiran also had to work past familial restrictions.

foodpanda

Kiran has been successful at her job ever since she began working. The ‘foodpanda Hijabi Hero,’ as she has come to be known, has completed over 100 successful orders. She agrees herself that it is not easy being a female rider in Pakistan. However, she’s moving mountains on her own.

In Pakistan, women are discouraged from working especially women who belong to conservative families. However, for Kiran, she overcame that obstacle despite Pakistan’s streets not being too safe. In other words, she’s brave, strong-willed, and resilient. All in all, the foodpanda Hijabi Hero is an inspiration for everyone.

Social media users are chanting the slogans of girl power and women empowerment after reading Kiran’s inspiring story. The outpour of love and support from strangers from around the country is heart-warming.

Not only this but foodpanda’s CEO Nauman Sikander Mirza said,

Riders are essential for frontline workers and our heroes. They brave difficult conditions every day to deliver vitally needed food and groceries to your home so you can avoid going out and lessen the risk of COVID-19 for you and your family.

He further added,

At foodpanda we encourage a gender equal representation in our workforce and fleet. We are happy to be at the forefront of empowering women and enabling economic stability in the country.”

Equal employment opportunities

For those who are looking for an opportunity amid these testing times, foodpanda fully supports the idea of equal employment opportunities and offers ready to start income positions, such as delivery riders, restaurant or shop operators, and home chefs are being offered to people in 30 cities across the country. If you or anyone else you know is looking for an opportunity as a rider, feel free to register yourself at http://bit.ly/rozgar.

Meet Waqas – A Carpenter Turned Fashion Model In Saudi Arabia

Waqas - carpenter turned fashion model

A carpenter turned fashion model overnight sounds something out of a dream, doesn’t it? Except for Waqas, it’s his reality. Keep reading to find out how he turned his life around in a snap.

About The New Model

Waqas is 24 years old and moved to Saudi Arabia 4 years ago. Since then, he has been working as a carpenter over there to make a living. However, Waqas always had one dream at the back of his mind. He wanted to be a model.

Some dreams come true in the most surprising of ways, and that’s what was in store for Waqas. His friend Faisal worked as a photographer besides Waqas. One day, while Faisal was editing his photos, Waqas confided in his friend about his dream. At that moment, Faisal took some professional shots of Waqas and shared it with his fraternity.

Waqas

Next thing Waqas knows, is his pictures gaining clout with the professionals in the field and he’s got offers! Waqas, still unbelieving of his luck, said: “I never thought of becoming a model in advertising.”

Waqas is now working as a full-time model in Saudi Arabia.

Immigrant Life Isn’t Easy.

Waqas must be applauded for his resilience before he became a model too. Immigrating to other countries is a huge decision, which is equally fierce. Most people often have to resort to odd jobs to make ends meet before they can fully establish themselves.

This is not to say that the work of a carpenter is skill-less or inferior. It requires its amount of precision and particular skill-set. However, the point is that Waqas first had to settle for something which not his passion. For four years, his dream was based on hope only.

Throwback to Chai wala!

Do you remember the chai wala? A roadside vendor of chai in KPK was going about his usual day when his life turned around. One of his customers thought he had killer looks and could become a model. They quickly snapped a picture and put it up on social media.

The pictures blew up overnight as well. People were surprised by his looks, and before he knew it, he had modeling offers. Just like that, his life was changed to. From doing a menial job, he became a famed model in the span of a few days. You never know when your luck is going to work.

Pull Your Socks Up!

If you have been waiting on acting upon a dream of yours, now’s the time. If your goal is also to become a model, you can try to have someone photograph you at home and make a portfolio. The portfolio can be sent to brands as well, make yourself known. If there’s anything we learn from Waqas’s story as a carpenter turned fashion model, it’s to not give up on our dreams.

Me and Sana Javed have been the best of friends for the longest time. We have been very good friends and we love and respect each other.

He further added,

But whenever that point comes in our relationship, where we say that it is ‘official’ or ‘it’s happening’; when this door opens, you can’t do anything about the things that come at you and that you don’t like.”

Although the two have been best friends for quite some time now, this rumor about them sure has gained a lot of attention. In the video, Umair further mentioned that both his and Sana’s fans are very dear to them but he doesn’t like all the care and staying in the limelight.

Saba Qamar Takes A Dig At All The ‘Rishta’ Aunties!

Saba Qamar

In her latest YouTube video, Saba Qamar raised an incredibly neglected social issue. The video starts with a “Rishta aunty” interviewing Saba. When asked about her profile, Saba gives blunt replies.

That Look of love! 👀

A post shared by 𝐒𝐚𝐛𝐚 𝐐𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫 (@sabaqamarzaman) on

This leads to the aunty telling her that in this way, she will never get married. Saba replies abruptly to her that she is not lying to get into this “business of marriage.” In the end, Saba says that she will marry for herself, not for people.

Saba Qamar is ruling our hearts with her sass.

This video, in an entertaining way, brings forth the toxicity of Rishta culture. It makes us reconsider this seemingly standard practice. Saba points out how we have made marriage a business.

Saba Qamar Takes A Dig At All The ‘Rishta’ Aunties!

She said that whether a family is conservative or liberal, they want a daughter-in-law as a servant. They want her to work outside if she’s educated and inside the house if she’s not. In her video, Saba also highlighted how rishta culture uses the “khandani” tag to exploit women.

Praiseworthy YouTube content by Saba Qamar

Unlike the rest of the celebrities, Saba doesn’t post vlogs of her daily life to gain a following and earn money. Her content is exceptional and compels the viewer to think. Her YouTube content is like a breath of fresh air in comparison to the television content filled with all the nonsense.

Saba has, previously, brought issues like mental health to light as well. She released her first video in April. It highlighted how people are feeling during isolation. Saba Qamar herself wrote the video.

Saba has uploaded five videos and has 171k subscribers. On the contrary, Hania Aamir, who posts vlogs, only has 395k subscribers. Hina Altaf and Iqra Aziz also have a higher number of subscribers than Saba. Even though Saba has been acting longer than the rest, this tells us the kind of content Pakistanis want to watch: not one that promotes awareness.

Her exceptional acting career

Saba Qamar has portrayed strong women at the screen. Her work, in Baaghi, as Qandeel Baloch, is the most notable one. Her 2019 drama Cheekh has received well-deserved praise from viewers.

In 2017, Saba worked in an Indian movie alongside Irrfan Khan. Critics applauded her acting skills across the border as well. Saba was nominated for Star Screen Awards and Best Actress Filmfare award. She won the Masala! Award for Breakthrough Performance of the Year.

Just after Hania Amir’s interview with Aima Baig, Asim Azhar and Hania Amir memes took over the internet. In her interview, Hania said that she and Asim are friends. She denied her and Asim being a couple or dating. Here’s what she said:

Soon afterward, hashtags Asim Azhar and Hania Amir became top trends on Twitter.

Apart from posting pictures together on social media, the couple did a ramp walk in FWP that made headlines last year.

Asim Azhar and Hania Amir memes

As Hani Amir’s interview went viral, tweeps started making Asim Azhar and Hania Amir memes.

Aima Baig’s reaction

A Twitter user posted a screenshot of Aima Baig’s reaction to the news, and it’s hilarious. It seems like the singer had a hard time believing Hania as well.

We had a hard time believing it too.

This waqt badal diya, jazbat badal diye meme is relatable for all of us on the news.

Mere Paas Tum Ho?

A user also photoshopped Asim’s face on a heartbroken Danish from Mere Paas Tum Ho.

Hania’s currently on-air drama, Dil Ruba

A tweep couldn’t help but add Asim to the list of people Hania’s character made a fool in her drama Dil Ruba.

The good ol’ friendzone memes

Furthermore, there were plenty of people who made and shared friendzone memes like this one.

Old is gold?

People also dug into old tweets and pictures of the couple like this one.

Comparison with Syra and Shehroz

People could not help but compare the couple’s breakup with Syra and Shehroz’s.

The investigation, thus, came to an end.

One user dug hard enough to find out the reason behind the breakup. Guess what? It was the same reason because of which Syra and Shehroze broke up. Well, if you ask me, the buri nazar is real.

Then, people dragged TikToker Areeka Haq into all of this:

HUAWEI Y8p

Do you think we would forget about selfies? I mean, we all want our profile pictures on social media to standout out, or when sharing selfies with friends on an instant messaging platform. HUAWEI Y8p comes with a 16MP front-facing camera that supports HDR selfies. Not only clear selfies, but it also gives beautiful backlighting effects.

Apple’s Latest ‘Work-from-home’ Ad Is Downright Hilarious & Relatable!

WFH aka Work from home

Apple’s latest video has some significant laugh-out-loud moments in store. You can not get through the 7 minutes without either saying, “that’s so me!” or laughing. The short film titled “The whole-working-from-home thing” is the second of its kind by Apple.

The tech giant released one last year, but that was “Apple to Work.” However, this recent ad is about incorporating the new normal in your stride and overcoming the struggles of working from home.

What’s So Special About It?

Apple has never taken the back-seat in either creativity or popularity. This short film is so hilarious and relatable that it’s blown up everywhere.  The video features four colleagues working together on a project, each from a different background.

There’s the father with rowdy and chaotic children, a bachelor who doesn’t know what day it, a woman obsessed with yoga and the quintessential introvert.

These four have to work on a project, and the film shows the struggles they deal with. The internet disconnects, a kid spills something; the family is too intrusive. Relatable yet?

What’s Apple Promoting?

Through the depiction of such day to day struggles, Apple steps in to save the day. In terms of the colleagues, the film shows that Apple is what they can efficiently work with despite the struggles.

You can be anywhere and have your Airpods in to do the work. The light-weight MacBook can be put anywhere. Apple Watch can keep you alerted wherever you are doing whatever.  Features like iMessage, Facetime, and Pages are also being promoted for the working-from-home person.

Apple video shot

The world may be on hold, but deadlines, group chats, projects, and assignments are not. With Apple’s products, you don’t have to miss a single collaboration.

Here’s the full video:

What’s The Goal?

As Apple explains it, the goal of the video is to show that Apple can help unleash the creativity and productivity of persons even working from home. Apple is posed as the one reliable constant they can depend on to excel even sitting from home.

Apple logo

Since the video is becoming so popular, more and more people will be shown the practicality of Apple products. This might not yield a considerable boost in sales immediately; however, it can plant the seed in the minds of many. Perhaps a few weeks down the line, they’ll succumb to their desires too.

The Darker Meaning Behind It

If the film was a short, 60 seconds one maybe everyone would laugh over it and move on. However, having to watch it for 7 minutes entirely gives you time to ponder over it. It shows the unfortunate side of the corporate world.

How the pressure of work remains the same despite a pandemic out there. It shows the struggles of those managing a full-time job with full-time parenting. Moreover, it shows class disparity too. Their wealthy boss is vacationing while they are going insane, working out ideas, and making their situations work.

Pakistan Approves Dubai-Like Ravi Riverfront Project Worth Rs. 5 Trillion!

Dubai
PC: Vietnam Embassy Abu Dhabi

Pakistan to get it’s very own Dubai-Like mega-city worth approximately Rs. 5 Trillion.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has approved the construction of the project titled the ‘Ravi Riverfront Project.’

The construction of the elite modern-city project will take place in the north of Lahore and will spread out to over 100,000 acres.

According to an official statement, the Punjab government would proclaim an ordinance for the establishment with the Cheif Minister as its chairperson.

The Cheif Minister shared that the Punjab Cabinet will finalize the final approval on finance and other matters which are concerned with the project.

Aim Of The Project

The ideology behind this project is to improve the lifestyle while tackling everyday problems, including traffic congestion, water shortage, and environmental pollution in Lahore.

What To Expect

Reportedly, Ravi Riverfront will be divided into 14 district zones. These zones will be summed up with different projects coming together to form a community. That includes:

  • Residential Zones
  • Central Business District
  • Commercial Zones
  • Medical City
  • Large Lake with three barrages
  • Forest Reserve
  • Urban Farms
  • Sports City
  • Tourism Spots
  • Innovation and Knowledge City

Prime Minister Imran Khan Supports Urban Green Project

From day 1, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has always shown his green thumb for planting and urban green projects.

Reportedly, the premier headed a meeting in regards to the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project in Lahore with the presence of the Lahore Development Authority. The purpose of this meeting was to prepare a  plan to tackle concerns surrounding issues of clean drinking water as well as unplanned construction.

The Prime Minister, in a statement made last year, talked about his vision for future urban development. He stated that these projects would:

allow for more green spaces as Pakistan is one of the most environmentally-threatened countries.

Moreover, he added that:

arable land is being eaten up by housing societies and has grave consequences for our food security in the future

Hence, it is vital to allow the construction of buildings to:

to go as high as in other cities across the world

While keeping all international safety standards in mind.

Environmentalists Think Otherwise

While the Prime Minister and Cheif Minister support the project, environmentalists like Dr. Masoud Arshad, Senior Director, Water, Food, and Climate at WWF Pakistan think otherwise.

According to Dr. Arshad, the Ravi Riverfront project may “put additional pressure on the existing natural resources and lead to a shortage of underground water resources in near future.”

Moreover, he urged the policymakers to give priority to sustainable development.

“We should study and implement the ‘Room for River approach’ as “the floodplain of the River Ravi should be kept intact to address the issues of floods (impacts of climate change) and to recharge our lost aquifers,” he told Gulf News.

We will have to wait and see how the project turns out and if it meets expectations as it was supposed to.

10 Examples of Epic Brands Face-off You Need To See

Brands Face-off

Competitive advertising has turned out to be a subjective phenomenon in the contemporary world.

Whereas some believe that it spoils the friendliness between the brands, others believe that it stimulates the brands to grow and improve in terms of consumer appeal.

With the momentum of competitive advertising skyrocketing these days, all players are expected to be on their toes. One missed out on the move from your rival and bang! Your sales shall face the doomsday.

Whatever the case may be, as consumers, we enjoy the leg-pulling to every extent. After all, most of them use appeals like humor and wits, embellished with sheer creativity, to create an entertaining show for us.

Here are some examples of some competitive advertising campaigns that created a severe impact on our minds.

1. Nokia Lumia vs. iPhone

Brands Face-off_1

Nokia is famous for bashing the competition out with its sharp marketing tricks. From jabbing on Twitter to bullying TVCs, they make sure that the game realizes their existence.

One of the most hilarious TVC’s showcased a children festival, where the parents were clicking pictures of their blooming babies. Nokia used crazy humor to stab the claim of the iPhone, stating ‘an iPhone takes more photos…’. Check out the TVC yourself!

2. Ufone vs. Djuice

Telecom players are rigorous when it comes to advertising. Therefore, it is natural to cut throats when it comes to competition.

However, we did not realize that Ufone would squeeze the juice out of the brand name of Djuice through this catchy phrase in one of the TVC’s. They say “ab juice vitamin D ka ho ya C ka, sab par jaega pheeka” (whether the juice is of vitamin D or C, it will turn tasteless).

3. Burger King vs. Mcdonald’s

Brands Face-off_2

Burger King has attempted to fire bullets at Mcdonald’s since its inception. Whopping its way out on the beef content and juicy texture, Burger King keeps dreaming of snatching Mcdonald’s empire of consumers.

In this campaign, they got hold of the mascot of Mcdonald’s, Ronald, iterating that even he goes to Burger King. Seriously?

4. FedEx vs. DHL

Brands Face-off_3

Courier services are all about quick delivery and responsiveness. Though DHL claims that it is everywhere, FedEx ensures that it is ‘One Step Ahead’ of the competitor in all domains. This thought was creatively articulated in the truck ad below:

5.Pepsi and Coke

This war has the potential to be called as the ultimate ad battle of the century. Pepsi and Coke leave no stone unturned when it comes to showing each other realities.

There are like gazillion examples of this ad battle. However, the recent Halloween campaign broke all records in terms of appeal. We could not stop smiling on the wits that the brands used and the way they spontaneously responded to each other.

6. BMW vs. Mercedes

Brands Face-off_5

BMW loves to target the muy macho. Mercedes loves to flaunt its luxury.

However, when one of the automobile giants claims that it can bring driving pleasure, the other comes out and says, “so what, I can bring that too.” Now, it does not matter how I bring it. This ad campaign is a sure shot example of a sense of humor yet classy advertising tussle.

7. Kingfisher vs. Jet Airways

Brands Face-off_6

When Jet Airways announced humbly that we have changed and now you shall experience even better services, they forgot how smart Vijay Mallya is.

The billionaire of India has got enough power to achieve any advertising space he wants, and the way he used it to tell the consumers how jet airways changed is nerve-wracking!

8. Dove vs. Pantene

Shampoo brands have mostly been at peace, but when they come at war, it gets terrible and direct just like it did when Dove gave a face-palm moment to Pantene through a billboard. Have a look.

Brands Face-off_7

8. Diet Coke vs. Starbucks

If you think that brands only target those in their immediate competition, then think twice. Coke has brilliant marketing talent that can pick on almost anyone standing even miles away from them.

This time, it was Starbucks who fell prey. People shall ponder over standing in queues to get Starbucks after this campaign.

Brands Face-off_4

9. Horlicks vs. Complan

Even the nutritional drinks do not refrain from displaying their prowess in terms of vitals. They keep informing about the improvements in their formula to enjoy consumer loyalty.

This campaign is eye-popping in terms of how brands can even compete in advertising on a rational basis.

LinkedIn Sued For Secretly Reading Users’ Clipboard Data On iOS 14

On Friday, LinkedIn, an iPhone user sued the business and the employment-oriented online website from New York city for diverting and reading users’ data from Apple’s Universal Clipboard.

The lawsuit that has been filed against LinkedIn in San Francisco by Adam Bauer states that the company reads sensitive content without informing the user from the clipboard.

What is Apple’s Universal Clipboard?

Apple’s official site says that Universal Clipboard allows iPhone users to copy images, videos, and text on a clipboard. The data that is duplicated on the clipboard can be pasted to another iPhone or Apple device.

Bauer’s lawsuit alleged that “Apple’s Universal Clipboard shows these (third-party access) “reads” on screen as a “paste” command.”

Linkedin Has Not Come Out with an Official Statement On The Matter As Yet

Reuters tried to speak to Linkedin to get an official statement on the matter, but the Microsoft owned company has not made any public comments as yet. An executive from Linkedin has said on Twitter that a new version of the application will be out soon, which will completely halt the practice. The question is as to why such a big company would ever bring an act like this in practice?

How to enable these five hidden features of iOS 14. Read the full story here:

How To Enable These 5 Hidden Features Of iOS 14

What have the iOS Developers Found?

According to the complaint made, testers and developers of Apple’s latest operating system iOS 14 have found the Microsoft owned company sneaking up secretly on iPhones and iPads clipboard “a lot”.

Under the California law, the lawsuit by Bauer has been filed to understand the issue at hand and get a clear picture of the class action based on a violation of the law.

Linkedin Has Been Spying on Devices

In the complaint, it has been mentioned that the company has not only been secretly acquiring data from its users, but it is also spying on devices that are nearby such as laptops, computers, and other accessories.

“It has been circumventing Apple’s Universal Clipboard timeout,” says a publishing site.

TikTok, A Chinese Application was Violating Similar Laws

It was not so long ago when Tiktok was making rounds on social media for violating similar laws. The newest iOS 14 update has been able to detect unlawful activity these apps on our phones have been carrying out.

Media reports from last week suggest that around a total of fifty-three applications have been reported by users, including TikTok and LinkedIn, for stealing data from their Apple devices’. The data was being taken from the Universal Clipboard by all these apps after Apple’s latest privacy feature started alerting users.

The alert said, “pasted from messages” every time an app would try to access data that was not allowed.
