You’re charging the vehicle when you’re braking.

We know, from tests and statistics, that the ID.4 is capable of towing up to 2700 pounds! The vehicle is, allegedly, able to run 250 miles between charges. That puts it up in competition with KIA Niro EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. The battery can charge at home on 110-220 supply but is also capable of DC fast charging!

Pakistan And South Africa Set To Resume Test Rivalry

Lahore, 16 January 2021: Pakistan men’s national cricket team will be hoping to make the best out of the two Test-match series against South Africa, which commences from 26 January at the National Stadium in Karachi. This will be Pakistan’s first home Test against South Africa in more than 13 years. South Africa who last visited Pakistan in 2007 and won the two Test-match series 1-0, will aim to continue their winning streak over the host country.

Both sides met for the first time in 1995 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, which the home team won on the fifth day by 324 runs. In the 26 contests so far, South Africa have won 15, while Pakistan have been victorious on four occasions. The last Test between the both sides was in January 2019 in Johannesburg which the home team won by 107 runs.

Pakistan have hosted seven Test matches at their home soil (Pakistan) in which the hosts have won one, lost two and four have remained drawn. In the only Test match hosted at National Stadium in Karachi in October 2007, South Africa defeated Pakistan by 160 runs, becoming only the second team in history to beat Pakistan at the venue.

In the current Pakistan Test squad, Azhar Ali has faced the opponents in 10 Test matches scoring481 runs at an average of 25.31. Captain Babar Azam has scored 221 runs at an average of 36.83 from three Test matches with two half-centuries.

Among the bowlers, left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has featured in two Test matches against South Africa, taking nine wickets. All-rounder Faheem Ashraf in his one outing against the tourists took six wickets.

Among the South African touring party, captain Quinton de Kock has scored 251 runs in three Tests against Pakistan at 62.75. Former captain Faf du Plessis follows with a tally of 246 runs in seven Tests at 27.33,

Among the bowlers, Kagiso Rabada leads the pack with 17 wickets that he picked up in the last series between the two sides at 18.70.

Pakistan head coach Misbah ul Haq said: “South Africa have never been an easy side to beat, but them playing after 13 years in Pakistan will be an advantage for us, and we have a great chance to improve our record against them.

“The two Test matches in the ICC World Championship are very important for us and we will try to get maximum points out of it to improve our position on the table.

“Playing at home ground is always encouraging for the players, and it reflected in our performances in the series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh last year.

“The series against South Africa is an important one, and I am sure the players selected in the squad have the potential and hunger to give best results in the series.”

South Africa head coach Mark Boucher said: “Pakistan is a dangerous side at home; we will have to come up with a proper strategy to beat them at their own backyard.

“The wickets here in Pakistan are batting friendly, and we are relying on our batsmen to score runs. Their confidence will be high after scoring runs against Sri Lanka. Our fast bowlers will have to work very hard to get wickets.

“Pakistan bowlers will have home advantage, so this series will be a test for our batsmen, but once they are successful in occupying the crease, they will be able to score freely.

Aleem Dar And Ahsan Raza To Umpire South Africa Tests

Aleem Dar will officiate in his first-ever Test at home, while on-field umpire Ahsan Raza and match referee Mohammad Javed Malik will also make their Test debuts as the Pakistan Cricket Board, on behalf of the International Cricket Council, today confirmed match officials’ appointments for the two-match series between Pakistan and South Africa, which starts in Karachi on 26 January.

Elite panelist Aleem Dar has umpired in a record 132 Tests since making his debut in 2003 in Dhaka, while Ahsan part of the international panel has umpired in 37 ODIs and 57 T20Is to date. Javed Malik, a former first-class cricketer and a member of the ICC’s international panel, has refereed in 10 ODIs and six T20Is.

Asif Yaqoob and Rashid Riaz will be the third and fourth umpires, respectively, while Javed Malik will lead the playing control team for both the Tests. The second Test will begin in Rawalpindi from 4 February.

As per the ICC’s interim playing regulations, the requirement to appoint third country officials has temporarily been removed from the playing conditions for all international formats owing to the current logistical challenges with international travel. The ICC, however, continues to appoint locally based match officials from the ICC Elite Panel of Match Officials and the ICC International Panel of Match Officials.

For the three-match T20I series, Javed Malik will continue to be the match referee, while Aleem and Ahsan Raza will be the on-field umpires for the first match with Shozab Raza in the TV umpire’s box and Asif Yaqoob as fourth umpire.

Shozab Raza and Asif Yaqoob will stand in the second T20I with Ahsan Raza and Rashid Riaz as third and fourth umpires, respectively, while Aleem Dar and Rashid Riaz will be the on-field umpires for the third T20I with Ahsan Raza and Shozab Raza as third and fourth umpires, respectively.

Aleem Dar: “It will definitely be an emotional moment for me to umpire in a Test involving Pakistan. It has been nearly a 17-year and 132-Test wait, but its about to be over. Like the players, the match officials also want to umpire in matches on home ground, something we achieve in white-ball cricket, but Test cricket remains the pinnacle format and I am delighted that I will be standing in the two Tests between two excellent sides.”

ICC’s interim playing regulations, which will be applicable to the upcoming series, are:

Ban on applying saliva to the ball: Players will not be permitted to use saliva to shine the ball. If a player does apply saliva to the ball, the umpires will manage the situation with some leniency during an initial period of adjustment for the players, but subsequent instances will result in the team receiving a warning.

A team can be issued up to two warnings per innings but repeated use of saliva on the ball will result in a 5-run penalty to the batting side. Whenever saliva is applied to the ball, the umpires will be instructed to clean the ball before play recommences.

Additional DRS reviews: The CEC has also confirmed an additional unsuccessful DRS review for each team in each innings of a match, keeping in mind that there may be less experienced umpires on duty at times. This will increase the number of unsuccessful appeals per innings for each team to two for the white-ball formats.

The ICC Cricket Operations team will support Match Referees when processing Code of Conduct breaches and a neutral Elite Panel match referee will conduct any hearing remotely via video link.

What Did Shoaib Akhtar Say About The Industry?

Recently, Shoaib Akhtar went on a rant against Pakistani advertisements while complaining about the content that is being made.

In an interview that he recently gave, the former fast bowler claimed that Pakistani advertisements lack creativity and also blamed the elite class whose “brain is filled with trash” as he describes in the interview.

Shoaib Akhtar shared his disappointment with the industry and said that he later saw an ad for 4G Internet, literally mistook it as an ad for shoes and was severely disappointed and he considers it trash.

“The worst advertisements are made in Pakistan. Lately, I saw a 4G internet ad and I literally thought that it is an ad for shoes. That was so pathetic.” said Shoaib.’

The former cricket star also shared an experience where he was offered to act in an advertisement for a car to which he agreed on one condition. The condition put forth by Shoaib Akhtar was to be given the opportunity to produce the ad on his own.

How Did That Ad Production Turn Out?

He claimed that the ad was later praised by the audience and asked the management to share their creative brief or the idea they were going to go ahead with. Shoaib claimed that he was thankful they did not go ahead with that idea and instead opted for his production.

It is also important to note that it is a well-known opinion that Pakistani advertisements are not as creative when compared to their Indian counterparts and are likely to have a generic and predictable storyline.

Why Would Shoaib Give This Statement?

Shoaib has always been extremely vocal and blunt with his thoughts and opinions which often involves him taking a polarising stance. Last year when Pakistani cricket team was on tour at NewZealand, Shoaib shared an extensive rant against the player for their irresponsible behaviour.

The ad shows Silvio Berlusconi in the front seat, while three women have been gagged and tied in the back. There was also another version of the ridiculous ad featuring Paris Hilton with the Kardashians gagged in the trunk!

3. Mothers-In-Law Can Now Inspect Their To-Be Daughters-In-Law Like Cows At A Cattle Farm With Audi

Audi China crossed the limit with their super controversial ad that compared a bride to a used car! The ad shows a bride and groom happily getting married when all of a sudden, the ceremony is interrupted by the groom’s mother.

The lady rushed up to the bride and started to pull her nose, check her ears, and even inside her mouth as if she were at a farm and about to purchase new cattle for her home. As she walks away, she gives them a thumbs up to show her approval, and then she glances down at the bride’s chest to check her ‘measurements.’

This crime took place involving a total of three men. It took place in broad daylight in Gulistan – e – Jauhar. According to the FIR report filed, the victim had gone out for household chores. They were at a milk shop, buying the contents when this happened. Just as they were about to pay for their groceries, three men arrived, threw off the helmet.

Then they just kick-started the motorcycle and drove off. It all happened so fast that it was not enough time to comprehend what had happened. By the time everyone realized what had happened, they had sped away. The police have said that they managed to get away this quick because the victim left the key in the ignition. The timing and people involved do point towards a premeditated attack.

The cameras also allow for it to sense its environment while moving. It will detect, list and sort laundry and will even pour you a glass of water after a long, hard day!

Telecom Sector Contributes PKR 278b To National Exchequer In 2020: PTA Annual Report

Islamabad (January 15, 2021) Telecom sector has emerged as a prominent contributor to Pakistan’s economy and the sector contribution to the national exchequer has shown an increase of 129% in the year 2020 when compared to the year 2019, despite the economy being under pressure due to COVID effects. As per Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) Annual Report 2020, released here today, the sector contributed PKR 278 billion (including PTA deposits to the national exchequer) in FY 2020 as compared to PKR 121 billion in FY 2019 registering Year-on-Year growth of 129%.

A surge in demand for telecom services due to lockdown resulted in significant growth not only in the subscriber base but also in the usage of telecom services. Today, data usage stands at 4,498 Peta Bytes(FY2020) as compared to 2,545 Peta Bytes (FY 2019) showing a growth of over 77%. This substantial growth would not have been possible if the networks were not upgraded. The country currently has international bandwidth connectivity of 3.1 Tera Bytes and around 47,000 cell sites, of which 90% are 4G enabled sites.

According to the PTA Annual Report, in the last five years, total broadband subscriptions in the country grew by 175%. Today broadband subscribers have crossed 90 million showing a growth of around 8% in FY2020. Pakistan has a total broadband penetration of 42.2% in FY2020. The telecom networks are currently available for 87% of the population and PTA is working with operators to increase their network coverage for the remaining 13% of unserved people of the country. The total teledensity now stands at 82% with over 172 million mobile subscribers and 2.2 million fixed-line subscribers.

In 2020, the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) across the economy was affected due to global lockdowns, however, the telecom sector made an iconic share of 25% (USD 623 million) in the total FDI made in the country. Total investment made by the local operators grew by 14.25% and a total of USD 734 million were invested locally. Total revenues of the sector reached PKR 537 billion in FY 2020, which was mainly generated by mobile sector. The financial gains have been equally enjoyed by telecom consumers, the affordability of telecom services in Pakistan have improved over the years and currently the per GB broadband prices are as low as USD 0.20 which is amongst the lowest in the region.

Similarly, due to the Device Identification & Registration System (DIRBS) introduction government revenues increased many folds with tax collection on handset imports. The local manufacturing of handsets has enlivened the telecom ecosystem, with growth in local 4G device manufacturing crossing 34%. Pakistan experienced trials of 5G services which were one of the few firsts in South Asia. PTA is aiming for spectrum auction of LTE, VoLTE services in 2021 as a precursor to 5 G. The regulator is also gearing up for auction of spectrum for high-speed broadband services in AJK & GB.

PTA Annual Report informs that the regulator this year awarded 110 licenses for different telecom services and issued 91 commencement of service certificates to the operators. PTA conducted QoS surveys across Pakistan for data, voice and SMS services and the operators were directed to take corrective measures where they underperformed. PTA conducted a number of successful raids against illegal VoIP setups this year to curb grey telephony.

The Annual Report further revealed that PTA was ranked as 4thgeneration telecom regulator by the ITU, which places PTA in the top five regulators of Asia-Pacific region. The Pakistan Citizen Portal recognized PTA as the best performing organization in complaint redressal satisfaction. The above performance is a testimony that the sector and the regulator are moving in the right direction under the continuous support and guidance of the Government of Pakistan in the form of prudent policies and directions that spur the growth of digital technologies.

While commenting on the situation arising due to Covid-19, the Annual Report further added that year 2020 was an extraordinary year around the world, unexpected, unforeseen and unanticipated events unfolded and changed the way the world was functioning. The new normal, replaced the focus of the world on telecoms and digitalization, the global telecom sector responded to the demands and so did Pakistan. Being at the forefront, while the country was acclimatizing to the changed conditions towards normalization, PTA assured network upgradations, traffic optimization, load balancing that resulted in uninterrupted service provision.

Punjab Govt To Shift The University Of Health Sciences To Solar Power

In a country that suffers terribly from electricity load shedding, it is high time it adopted alternatives of the traditional electricity generating methods. One of the most common alternatives is electricity generation from solar power. Since Pakistan gets quite a bit of it, solar energy is, by far, the best option. And people have indeed started shifting to it, albeit slowly and gradually. But if you want something to become common, installing it in prominent places is the way to go. Punjab Govt has possibly adopted the same strategy.

People in Punjab had already started using solar panels for electricity generation. If you travel to Punjab, even the smaller rural areas, on each house, you will find 2 to 6 panels. But that is for a small village house. For a structure way larger, the number of panels also increases greatly. So imagine the number when I tell you that the structure is the University of Health Sciences. Moreover, since the university teaches hard sciences, one can safely assume that there must be scientific laboratories that need constant electricity. Such a building has been selected to shift to solar power completely, announced the Punjab govt.

The energy minister, Akhtar Malik, says that this way, they will be able to reduce a huge chunk of electricity costs. The plant to supply the university with electricity will be 1 megawatt.

The minister has issued the order for a 1-megawatt plant, but he has also instructed authorities to finish the energy audit of UOHS in 10 days. This must ensure that the 1-megawatt solar system does not waste if the actual consumption of university requires more electricity.

But what led to the Punjab government taking such a decision?

As it turns out, the government has to pay PKR 37 billion just for electricity. Also, there are 95,000 government connections in Punjab. So this is the stepping stone of a greater move; converting all the government connections to the solar model. And Akhtar Malik reiterates it:

“Government connections across Punjab will be shifted to solar to reduce the high energy bills,” said Malik.

Let’s hope that the country sees the advantages of using electricity from a renewable source and not just Punjab, but the whole country adopts this practice. Until then, we will be dependent on the existing modes of electricity generation and used to the nationwide blackouts.

The digital film opens with the image of a bright sunny morning on a railway platform. Adeel Hussain, our protagonist, is shown boarding a train after which he grabs a cup of tea and begins to walk through. As he does so, he bears witness to the various forms of everlasting love expressed by people across all age groups. Shots of a grandmother pampering her granddaughter, the one dependable friend amongst a bunch of crazy ones, a mother’s affection for her son, cute naughty sibling moments, and even love blossoming between two young adults make an appearance as Adeel passes by each compartment.

The well-executed ad film captures the true essence of #HameshaWalaPyar, the everlasting love and affection that bring together people of all age groups and backgrounds. It sends a clear message that love is unconditional; it gives joy and therefore doesn’t need to be complicated. One should find happiness in such moments of love and compassion and treasure them at all times. The ad is a slice of life as it shows how even the simplest moments of love can bring about so much joy and happiness. #Seedhi Saadi Khushi. The innovative hashtags have also helped push the brand further into the digital space and into the spotlight. It shares many takeaways in terms of brand connect and storytelling.

The brand also adds vibrancy to all memorable moments that have taken place over the years and even makes a good impression with an entirely new look with the iconic stripes of the biscuit now present on the packaging. This is the truth behind the mystery surrounding the appearance of stripes that have just recently taken TV and social media by storm. Popular celebrities, influencers, and Instagram sensations posted pictures with stripes using hashtags #HamaeshaWalaPyar leaving massive confusion and curiosity in their wake.

The event was attended by the management and employees of Zong 4G. Over 250+ Zong employees attended the conference remotely from the safety of their homes.
