Karachi Condition Deteriorates With The First Monsoon Rain 2021

monsoon rain

Rains in Karachi last year were an absolute disaster for the residents of the city. The city sunk for some time and the people, rich and poor alike, were homeless as water flooded the houses. Had the NGO’s not been as active as they were, we would have lost the city. The government, then, promised to invest in the water system to ensure that Karachi does not flood in the Monsoon rain of 2021.

Karachi and the Monsoon rain

Unsure of how much work, if any, had been done, Karachiites were already a bit apprehensive about the rains. We hoped that the drainage system was better now because of our excitement for rain. But there was also fear due to the uncertainty of what the future of the city would look like. And unfortunately, our fear was rightly placed.

When the Monsoon rain of 2021 hit Karachi today in the early hours of the 12th of July, it affected Karachi badly. With only a bit of rain, Karachi started wavering.

Images and video were pouring in documenting the rain conditions all around the city. Be it DHA Phase 4, Phase 6, Mausamiyat, or Shahrah e Faisal, water was everywhere.

Whom should one hold accountable?

This is a question that the general public wants to ask the government but they cannot. They cannot do so because they are baffled at them lamenting about how the Met department forecasted the rains wrong.

Sindh Minister for Local Government, Housing, Town Planning and Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah:

“Traditionally, the Met department informs the provincial government and the relevant departments.”

Seriously?

If you could not rectify a situation in an entire year, how could you have dealt with it in 2, 3, or at most, 24 hours?

Last year, after rains hit Karachi, Minister for Information Senator Shibli Faraz said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah of maximum assistance to deal with the disaster. Moreover, the PM also said that the three main issues that he has discovered in Karachi are: Cleaning the city’s stormwater drains once and for all; permanent solution to city’s solid waste disposal; Resolving the critical issue of water supply.

Since it was all in the plans, shouldn’t the matter be solved already instead of Syed Nasir Hussain Shah crying now?

Pakistanis Spot Alizey & Feroze Together After Separation Rumors

feroze khan

Alizey and Feroze Khan were rumored to have parted ways some time ago. The scandal spread even to include Hania Aamir. Netizens said that Feroze had left Alizey because he wants to marry Hania. This was a strong allegation on the Ishqiya star.

Around that time, Alizey also unfollowed Feroze Khan’s family, which strengthened Pakistanis’ belief in the separation.

Alizey, Feroze Khan & Social Media

Recently, Alizey changed her name on Insta to Syeda Alizey Feroze Khan. This was enough to shut most rumors down because she would never put her name like this where they separated. Hence, it was clear that Alizey and Feroze were choosing to stay away from social media and, consequently, the evil eye.

But Pakistanis are very quick to notice things. Some of them found an image of Alizey and Feroze together at someone’s Mayun ceremony. The two looked really cute.

Of course, this could also be an old image, possibly from their own wedding events. However, we saw that the hairstyle of Feroze matched his recent Insta pictures. And the same goes for Alizey.

Netizens on the recent click

When different fan pages started sharing these clicks, fans were overjoyed.

Some netizens were under the assumption that the two in question had confirmed the separation, so it wasn’t even a rumor. But that was only an assumption because I had closely followed both the personalities’ statements as someone who was saddened by these rumors. None of them addressed this issue during the hype.

The majority of the population on the internet was happy, however. They celebrated the fact that the couple had overcome the issues they were facing in their relationship.

That said, we could be wrong. This could totally be an old photograph. But if it is not, we wish them well and hope that they overcome difficulties in the future just like they did now.

[July 7th, 2021]: HEC Pakistan made an official announcement yesterday clearing all the rumors regarding the deferral policy.

No deferral for undergraduate programs

For the past few days, a piece of news was in circulation. According to that, students enrolled in 4-year undergraduate programs and 2-year Associate Degrees can avail deferral. HEC has denounced all such rumors through its official statement. They have highlighted that neither the 4-year Undergraduate Bachelor’s students nor the Associate Degree students can attain deferment.

Not many students are happy with this announcement and they do have legit concerns. Taking their concerns to Twitter they said that for those students who have to afford their living expenses themselves and cannot do part-time, the only possibility for them is to defer the semesters. What will such students do?

[Mar 5, 2021]: Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced in their latest update the opportunity to study at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). They have signed an MoU with the university that allows 75 Pakistani individuals to do their Ph.D. for the next 5 years. The MoU signing happened at a ceremony organized by the British Council Pakistan. It was an online ceremony attended by Executive Director (HEC), Dr. Shaista Sohail, and Vice-Principal International Education (QMUL) Professor Colin Grant.

Dr. Shaista acknowledged the support of QMUL and further said that the cooperation would lead to a better ecosystem for human development. She said: “There is no medium better than education to improve perceptions about each other.”

It is indeed amazing that the university has allowed such major fee waivers for HEC nominated students.

Collaboration with QMUL started in September 2016. It started as an opportunity for only PhD candidates but has developed into doctoral programmes too.

These initiatives ensure that educated Pakistanis become part of the country’s workforce and put Pakistan on a better track.

[Feb 19th, 2021]: It has been brought to the authorities’ notice that some institutes are initiating degree programs and enrolling students in them. But they haven’t obtained accreditation for it from HEC. Of course, the students who graduate with those degree programs will have to face problems later on. So HEC has announced that students should pay extra attention to the degree programs they are enrolling in. In fact, they should make sure that the program whether it is in engineering, medicine, pharmacy, or nursing field, or basically any discipline, should be accredited.

[Feb 9, 2021]: Making education accessible to all should be the motto of any nation that aims to succeed. And while most of us do get enrolled in primary levels, due to several reasons, a large number of people are unable to pursue higher education. Among such people, persons with disabilities, due to lack of facilities, are not able to continue studying no matter how much they want. But HEC has taken it unto itself to resolve the issues to a great extent.

HEC announces policy for people with disabilities

HEC has announced that it will make tuition free for persons with disabilities who are pursuing postgraduate studies.

At this moment, there are almost 330,000 registered persons with disabilities at NADRA. And some government sectors are currently employed at registering undocumented persons with disabilities. Moreover, the President has announced that the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development includes giving persons with disabilities complete access to healthcare and their rehabilitation to ensure social inclusion.

Making postgraduate studies free for people with disabilities is a significant step to ensure that the country’s future will be more educated.

Automobiles have become quite essential these days. Gone are the days when stagecoaches and horses were the norms. Now, we have the world moving towards the electric car era. Every day, we are seeing more advancements in this domain. In light of that, a new auto policy has been released in Pakistan. Among many brands, Changan is also seeing new prices of the Alsvin and Karvaan.

Changan Alsvin is considered one of the most affordable sedans ever. With a robust engine and wide range of functionality, it is quite a worthy investment. However, there are certain things to consider before buying any vehicle, some make sure you know what they are. Additionally, the Alsvin is now priced different than before and so is the Karavaan. Changan Karvaan is also an impressive family and multi-purpose vehicle.

Changan Alsvin New Prices

A new auto policy has been implemented in Pakistan now. There is going to be a considerable difference in car prices. Vehicles that may have seemed out of range before will come under range now. This has been done so the common person is able to afford a car. It does not do well to have a lot of the population not have cars. The vehicles are made to be bought by everyone and that is how it should be.

The Changan Alsvin was originally priced at about Rs.2.64 million. This is the highest variant of the vehicle we are talking about. Now, the decrease in the price of all variants is about Rs.60,000. So, the Lumiere variant is now set at Rs.2.59 million. Additionally, the two basic manual and automatic variants are at Rs.2.15 million and Rs.2.4 million. They were first set at Rs.2.2 million and 2.46 million.

Changan Karvaan New Prices

Changan Alsvin is not the only vehicle to see such a transition in prices. Every vehicle within the 2000cc domain is seeing a reduction in one way or another. Even those above 2000cc are seeing changes that we haven’t seen before. The industry is taking a turn for the better and it is an impressive sight to see.

Changan Karvaan is considered a vehicle that is fit for a number of purposes. It is better to go for this vehicle if you intend to carry bulk and require storage. Additionally, it is fit for the whole family. The original price of the Karvaan was set at Rs.1.5 million for the base version. The plus version had a cost of Rs.1.64 million. Now, the new auto policy has reduced the price by about Rs.100,000. This means the new prices are Rs.1.4 million and Rs.1.54 million for the base and plus variant.

This Strange Rishta Ad Baffles Pakistanis With Its Ridiculous Demands

rishta hunting Rishta Ad

Another day and another incident of blatant misogyny embedded deep within our society graced us today; direct misogyny in men and internalized in women. It seems like a nightmare, doesn’t it? The incident was a Rishta ad that is so blatantly misogynous and ridiculous; it’s hardly believable.

Insulting and Degrading

The two particular demands, namely ‘Must not be TikToker’ and ‘Must not be feminist’ are the toxic concepts that are the highlight in the story. They enforce the toxic misconceptions already rampant in society. The ad strengthens the idea that these qualities in a woman are undesirable, and any woman with these qualities is not marriageable. Especially with all the controversies surrounding our own Aurat March, the feminists cannot afford to be seen in a more negative light.

Aurat March 2020 Source: Twitter

Toxic Rishta Culture

It is visible through the ad that the person in question seems to be making demands while being in no position to make them. The man in question demands for the woman to be a university graduate while he himself is an intermediate graduate. Now, in no way, do we mean that intermediate graduates are in any way inferior, but the tone of the ad indicates arrogance that we simply cannot bear with. Can you believe our confusion when we see the same ad demand for the woman to be a housewife?

Toxic Physical Features Demand

Proceeding to the even more outrageous demands, the ad goes on to say ‘Tall and fair color (Mandatory)’. This is problematic on too many levels. Colorism is already a massive issue in Asia. Pakistan is no different. The ad’s demand for a woman of fair color in itself might not be wrong considering preferences and whatnot, but the mandatory part brings us to a halt. For some reason, as with the first point, it makes the readers think that someone not of fair color is unsuitable for marriage. Unfortunately, for our society, it is very easy to reach conclusions like this.

Take a look at the rishta ad in question:

The stereotypes, the misogyny, deeply embedded, need to be unlearnt for us to have a better society.

Arij Fatima is one of those Pakistani celebrities who said goodbye to the industry after giving some of the best performances. However, she still manages to stay on the radar with her social media posts and appearances.

Arij’s Latest Post

Recently, Arij posted a picture on Instagram which managed to catch some attention. She posted a controversial statement right after the Hum Style Awards 2021 and it seems like she is taking a dig specifically at Pakistani celebrities.

The netizens were quick to comment and agree with the statement made by the actress since Hum Style Awards created a lot of buzz over celebrity attire and the choice of outfits that celebrities opted for at the award ceremony.

Cinema in the post-pandemic world

Talking to Nadeem Mandviwala, Chief Executive of ME Cinemas which under their banner manage Atrium Cinema, Karachi and Centaurus Cineplex, Islamabad, we asked him why the cinemas were not opening with full fervor if they had gotten permission to operate. He said,

“While the government has given permission, not every cinema is in the condition to do so because they have accumulated quite a lot of problems in the past one and a half years. Not only do the cinema owners need to solve these problems but also import the picture they want to play. So, the cinemas open now, you may see them operating only a screen or two, probably, to get back in the routine. It will be two to four days before eid that all cinemas will be open in full fervor.”

Saudi Arabia Has A Good News For Pilgrims Who Got Chinese Vaccines

hajj 2021

The Saudi government has allowed pilgrims with Chinese vaccines for the annual Holy ritual. A recent statement issued by the Saudi officials has allowed travelers with Sinopharm and Sinovac doses. However, there are certain conditions to it.

Joint COVAX Statement

COVAX is abbreviated for COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access, a joint initiative between Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and the World Health Organization. Previously, Gavi released a statement in which they condemned the situation about allowing people with certain vaccines to travel to certain countries,

“Any measure that only allows people protected by a subset of WHO-approved vaccines to benefit from the re-opening of travel into and with that region would effectively create a two-tier system. Thus further widening the global vaccine divide and exacerbating the inequities in the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. It would negatively impact the growth of economies that are already suffering the most.

Such moves are already undermining confidence in life-saving vaccines that tend to be safe and effective. The measure will affect the uptake of vaccines and potentially putting billions of people at risk. At a time when the world is trying to resume trade, commerce, and travel. This decision is counter-effective, both in spirit and outcome.”

Saudia Arabia’s Latest Move

In response to the statement, Saudi Arabia released the notice allowing the pilgrims to travel on Chinese vaccines Sinopharm and Sinovac. However, the travelers have to fulfill two conditions to be eligible for travel,

  • People vaccinated with Chinese doses have to get a booster dose To enter the country.
  • Pilgrims and foreigners who have received a booster dose must provide a negative PCR within 72 hours of the arrival.

5 Things That Make HSY’s Khayaal An Example Of Excellence In Design

The niche of Pakistani couture is quite a difficult realm to wrap one’s head around, but those who have a grounding in fashion, present consistent collections year on year, learn and perfect the craft of bridal couture become much sought after design houses, whose order books are filled up well into the next six months. One such designer who has been a frontrunner in the world of fashion in the nation and undeniably given the moniker of the King of Couture, is Hassan Sheheryar Yasin (HSY) — who continues the legacy of his ingenious design sensibility with his latest collection, Khayaal.

Revealing the collection in a number of sneak peaks and exclusive reveals, there are still a plethora of enticing details which fans of the designer know a little of, and things that truly make this HSY exclusive couture one for the annals of craft history.

Read on to find out more…

Celebrity Magnetism

HSY has almost worked like a bridge between the world of fashion and the realm of entertainment, and thus, one could always be hopeful for a celebrity to be an iconic part of his latest campaigns. This time around, the couturier has taken an even more creative angle and gone with a fashion film featuring the romantic chemistry between two of Pakistan’s most wanted stars of today, Maya Ali and Bilal Ashraf. While Bilal has been a staple in the HSY family, his pairing with Maya adds yet another glamorous quotient to the bigger picture.

A Complete Bridal Trousseau

HSY brides are synonymous with intricate designs and a particular colour palette, but this time, the couturier has taken it a notch above by introducing Khayaal as a one-stop solution to all trousseau needs. Whether the blushing bride opts for the perfect demure Nikkah ensemble in jewel toned hues, a Mehndi outfit in vibrant shades, a signature silver HSY tone for the Baraat, or a moonlit inspired Valima jora that shimmers, every betrothed couple is spoilt for choice at the new towering atelier that houses bespoke, formal, groomwear and the latest lines to come off the floor.

A New Colour Palette

There’s a wide array of ‘firsts’ in this ornate collection by HSY, and that includes ensembles that are inspired by the moon-lit hues of the night where the silver shadows shimmer amidst twilight in all their glory. The designer has taken a step away from the colours he has come to be known for, such as reds, and instead presented a homage to jewel tones, pastels and metallic shades – indicating a new direction for the House of HSY.

A Master Stroke in Cuts & Silhouettes

HSY as a couturier, has dominated the market for more than two decades, and has introduced a number of cuts and silhouettes to his discerning clientele that they now associate exclusively with him. Taking this forward and innovating further for the prospective customer’s plethora of needs, HSY has introduced a wide variety with Khayaal. Be it long, straight shirts with nuanced slits, lehenga cholis done up in a bespoke Subcontinental style or even a front open Bolero jackets, there’s perfection in each piece de resistance crafted under HSY’s contemporary signature style. That’s not all, however, as the designer has gone on even further to make Khayaal a running success. There’s a focus on other cuts and silhouettes as well, and one can find diverse styles such as the gota-work gharara pants and one piece gowns in the collection too.

Embellished Regality

There’s royalty, and then there’s HSY royalty. With Khayaal, the designer plays with the idea of elevating the ethos of South Asian heirloom and heritage inspired ensembles as he transforms them into regal pieces of art. Like a rebirth of Pakistani craft, where heritage, heirloom and the ornate fuse together, HSY plays with a number of traditional craft such as working with oxidised golds and silver, gota, mukaish and pitta work, along with other odes to global and regional embellishments such as French knots, zanjeeri, 3D hand-made flowers, and stone work as well- creating the perfect amalgamation between contemporary innovations and age-old techniques.

For a clientele that understands HSY’s mission to highlight traditional craft of the Subcontinent and add his own flair to the mix, Khayaal plays the perfect role this wedding season! There’s absolutely no other who could compare to the intricacies the couturier presents, and that’s a fact!

Employee-Centrism – An Essential Paradigm Shift To Achieving Business Growth Today

This article is written by Javeria Fahad

With the ongoing unpredictability and worry that has become the center of discussion throughout organizations, one crucial thing to consider to boost productivity is that the employees need to be the center of focus. Living in the digital age, progressive companies have adopted an employee-centric approach – baselining human understanding and empathy.

Before we dive into the depths of this topic, we need to understand what the term employee-centric means. The ability to speak freely, expressing ideas without being suppressed, and putting forward employee-friendly policies is how you build an employee-centric company.

Prioritizing the employee experience over corporate branding

The growing materialism that has encroached on us has made us self-indulgent that we can cater to the needs and wants of our employees. A sense of belonging and connection with the company is what an employee craves, but somehow, even the leading businesses fail to anticipate the expectations of their workers. Being a part of a modern workforce and staying one step ahead in today’s competitive and fast-moving environment, companies need to back their employees by providing support and making them feel valued.

A report by Deloitte states that nearly 80 percent of executives rated employee experience to be very important. Many companies in Pakistan have changed their organizational structure and shifted complete focus on their employees. Systems Limited is a bona fide representation of an employee-centric company. It revolves around its employees and ensures high levels of motivation amongst them. With its diverse corporate culture and relentless pursuit to attain new heights of innovation, it has given employees the chance to voice their opinions and feel valued. Companies should emphasize on employee-ownership as it encourages them to take on more work.

Making employee-centric culture a reality

Let us take a closer look at how companies can incorporate an employee-centric approach and can ease themselves from the fear of falling back. We live in a virtual economy and an ever-evolving world; companies globally need to connect and engage with their employees to ensure success. The world we live in is employee-centric, and corporations must prioritize employee satisfaction and the happiness of their workforce.

Working in the best companies in Pakistan, we get to see how innovative ideas and inspirations spread from one person to another. If an employee is fully invested in a company and is making the most out of it, it is merely because they feel involved and happy. Giving employees a voice by removing as many communication barriers as possible will make them feel valued. It is about time all these companies introduce a culture where employees have a chance to communicate beyond the old-fashioned suggestion box.

The more face-to-face communication is encouraged, the more profitable our companies will become. Giving employees the liberty to do whatever they like and putting them first from the day they begin their professional journey in a company will lead to better results. The most important aspect of adopting an employee-centric approach is to learn to trust the employees. Frequent handholding and micromanagement can lead to distress and can kill the motivation to work. To become a part of the best company culture, we need to make sure that the employees working for us are satisfied to their fullest. If companies take care of their employees, employees will reciprocate.

Employee-centrism is a movement, and you do not want to be left behind.

Karachiites have an unusual relationship with the rains. Rain makes the weather all better. Plus, while the rain is amazing, the dirty streets, when they get wet, the smell gets really bad. So you don’t really know whether to get excited about the rains or feel sad.

Of course, the meme uncle would not stay behind in the meme times now, would he?

While we find rain threatening, we get excited for another reason, and that being, we rarely get rains. Moreover, since the rain started early morning, it would have come as a nice surprise for most Karachiites.

This scene from a Bollywood movie can always crack you up.

Hopefully, Karachi won’t have to experience this all over again.

Enough said.

Rains are always welcome. Most of us Karachiites love them but only if the rest of Karachi and its people are not sinking. So, let’s pray that while the rains pour this time, our fellow citizens are not suffering as much as they did last time.

Two Pakistani Students’ Final Year Project Selected For Ignite Funding

Education is extremely important for children. It is important for every person, in general. One may feel robbed of knowledge or information if they don’t come face to face with education. Additionally, there is something about school life or campus life that is appealing. Education is something that should be highly encouraged above many things. One cannot progress well without it. In light of this, Ignite funding has decided to strike again!

Let us dive into the details of one of the projects that are being funded by Ignite.

University Students:

Fatima And Jalal, from FAST University, are the front runners on this project. They are the innovative and brilliant minds responsible for such an innovation. This shows that if a student is allowed to spread their wing, they can go quite far. The students hail from the Electrical Engineering discipline. They are holding their heads quite high. We are sure that their teachers are proud of them too. Now comes the second step. We wish them luck as they decide to pursue the working of this project with the help of Ignite funding.

The project being discussed here is one that has a useful application. It is meant to provide ease to farmers and anyone looking towards agriculture. Since Pakistan has an Agro-based economy, such a project can go miles and miles. Ignite has deemed it to be an impressive one. The idea of the project is to carry out the spraying of pesticides in Pakistan, on the basis of automation. Including IoT in the project means that human involvement is going to be minimal, making it self-sustaining.

Ignite And Final Year Projects:

You might be wondering what Ignite is. Ignite is an organization that aims to merge industry and academia together. These two domains can often be seen far apart and must be allowed to merge. If they don’t, there will be a lot of misunderstanding and confusion for students when they graduate. To help them step into the industry, Ignite proposes many ideas and solutions. They also have a project funding program. It takes place every year and it is quite interesting.

A final year project is one of the most important parts of a student’s life. It serves as a culmination of all that the student has learned through their bachelor’s program. The project even helps the student learn various areas of working as well as their own field. Ignite gathers proposals from institutions all over the country and they have done the same this year too.

Among the shortlisted final year projects reside many universities. There is not any discrimination between institutions and every student is given an opportunity.

10 Things All Media Science Students Will Relate to!

Being a media science student is a really tough job, and not everyone has the guts to pursue this field!

You have to be uber creative, super crazy and extremely daring to be a part of the ‘media’ gang

Here is a list of 10  things, we bet every media sciences student in Pakistan can relate to!

  1. When people ask you, “What exactly is it that you do?”

No one understands what you mean by being a “media student”. And when you try telling them, they end up asking questions like, “oh so when will we be seeing you on TV?”

  1. When they compare you to their doctor and engineer kids.

No thank you, I’m good!

  1. Your group members become your superhero squad.

They are the only ones who can truly understand you.

  1. Being the DSLR guy, everyone keeps asking you to take their pictures.

You become the “TO GO GUY” for this and all females of your university, become your best friends.  ‘Kyun k Har Rooz New FB Profile Photo Chahye’

  1.  You are forced to cast your friends and family in your short film!

While you are short on budget and can not afford a superstar for your movie project, you resort to casting your ‘choti behn’ or ‘parosi ka bacha‘ in your short film

  1. Even after 3 years of study, you are still not sure if you are on the right path.

Maybe, you should’ve become a scientist instead.

  1. You can talk about anything and everything.

Be it world politics, terrorism, financial crisis or commenting on someone’s social skills or even just talking about the weather, you can do it all.

  1. People they think it’s all fun and games

Oh sure, try completing 5 research papers, 3 short films, 2 animations and a photography assignment all in one day!

  1. You can make others do the silliest things possible.

That’s where all the fun comes in. While pretending to take an audition, you get to be the SIMON of your very own X FACTOR.

  1. The pain you go through when your editing software breathes its last!

After hours of never-ending render, your PC crashes and you realize that you have to start it all over again!

Tag all your media science buddies!

Best Travel Destinations Around the World for Families

With the summer getaway just around the corner, here is a selection of great destinations for families thinking of heading to Asia and Oceania. Here’s some food for thought for families still in search of the ideal vacation location.

The accommodation booking giant has delved into its 91 million user reviews, gauging the opinion of experienced family travelers to compile a list of seven top destinations in Asia and Oceania.

Pokhara, Nepal

As the gateway to Annapurna — a hotspot for trekking — this city in central Nepal also has plenty of family activities on offer, Booking reports. The destination, which gives its name to the surrounding valley, has many nearby lakes for scenic bike rides, swimming and boat trips.

Siem Reap, Cambodia

Siem Reap, the capital of the Cambodian region of the same name, is world famous as the home of Angkor Wat, the impeccably preserved imperial and religious temple complex of the Khmer civilization. In fact, many travelers consider it one of the most beautiful sights on earth. If kids aren’t keen on the idea of visiting a temple, Booking suggests telling them that Angkor Wat is where “Tomb Raider” was filmed, turning the trip into a Lara Croft-style adventure.

Luang Prabang, Laos

Families in search of an authentic and exotic destination should check out Luang Prabang in Laos. Booking recommends bathing in the Kuang Falls, which will enthrall even the youngest of visitors with its turquoise waters. Families can enjoy elephant tours, kayaking and boat trips on the river.

Port Douglas, Australia

The land of kangaroos is a prime destination for families thanks to its diverse range of activities and incredible wildlife. In Queensland — a northeastern state with the Great Barrier Reef just offshore — Port Douglas makes a good alternative to the famous Gold Coast, and it’s only 70km (44 miles) from Cairns. For younger travelers, the destination is also a gateway to the Daintree Forest, just 1½ hours’ drive away.

Cradle Mountain, Tasmania, Australia

Cradle_Mountain,_Tasmania,_AustraliaTasmania is probably the least well-known of Australia’s states, yet it has plenty of natural landscapes that are ideal for fun and physical family activities. Booking’s traveler reviews suggest Cradle Mountain as a key destination for its breathtaking views. It’s also highly recommended for walkers.

Byron Bay, Australia

Surfing-at-the-Pass-Byron-Bay-NSW-Australia-source-surfingart.com_.au_In New South Wales, Bondi Beach, in the Sydney suburbs, is a hotspot for experienced surfers. Byron Bay, on the other hand, is a more welcoming destination for beginners. Even the youngest surf dudes and dudettes can learn to ride the waves in this beachy bay, known for being the easternmost point of mainland Australia. Families can also take a trip to Cape Byron Light, the country’s most powerful lighthouse.

Nelson, New Zealand

Explorationbysea
Australia isn’t the only option in Oceania. Families will find all the ingredients for a great holiday in Nelson, New Zealand. Nelson is the capital of the country’s smallest region, which is also said to be the sunniest. On the north-western coast of the southern island, Nelson is a great destination for wannabe seafarers, who can try their hand at sailing. Kayaking is also a popular activity in the region.

Pakistanis Share What All It Takes To Be Considered ‘Rich’

Pakistanis got deep on an Insta thread and we almost can not handle it. What is being rich for you?

Bob Marley Weighs In

Bob Marley, the musical legend has once posed this question. “Are you rich?” His response is quoted even today where he denied the fact that money makes you rich. He said love, people, memories and relationships make you rich.

The Insta Thread

Someone on Twitter was going through their “sad boi hours” and though to ask their followers this question:

The Results

The results you ask? They were varied, entertaining, reflective and most importantly, enlightening. Are you ready for a social roller coaster?

The Jokers

There were many who took this question the light-hearted way and gave responses that were amusing. They had a range of funny, pun-intended answers to provide to keep the audience entertained. Here’s that same entertainment for you!

The Philosophers

There were many who made Plato and Aristotle happy. They gave answers that neither gave a yes nor a no. Delving into the psyche of the human mind, they explained whether humans can ever even be rich.

The Honest Ones

Then there were the honest ones who truly spoke from the heart. For them being rich meant to fulfil their wishes to do this and that. They wanted to sustain their households whilst also being able to afford “rationally arguable luxuries”. Is it just us or are people too deep?

Dunya Ne Bohat Ghum Diye

Then came the Devdas who had their sadness to share or perhaps were also going through the sad boi hours. Check out what they have to say who were riding their sadness through the night.

Social Reflections

Amidst all these, there were many who acted as social reflections. They showed what the society has ingrained in their heads as definition of rich. People want to acquire wealth to “show it to people” or to have a big car.

In the world we live in, especially having survived a pandemic, we can all agree all these markers of success don’t mean anything.

So, What is Being Rich?

There can never be an answer to this question. The question is as old as time though the answers change with each person. It’s because there is no single recipe for acquiring wealth monetarily, socially or culturally.

We have even seen that “money does not buy happiness.” Celebrities drowning in wealth have been unhappy and those with no roof over their heads have been the happiest. Penny for your thoughts?
