Both Momina and Ahad, on his singing debut on National TV, teamed up for the very first time for this track. However, the response was not so overwhelming for the singers as people across the nation are calling it the worst version ever.

Dalda’s #MeriAwaz Campaign Unites Voices Against Body Shaming

dalda

Children are the torch-bearers of society. It is our responsibility to provide them with a nurturing environment that not only ensures their healthy growth but also allows them to achieve their full potential.

However, there is a lot of pressure on children nowadays to meet the expectations imposed by society.

While both genders feel the pressure, the girl child is comparatively under more scrutiny and is expected to live her life according to rules imposed by those around her.

From a very young age, she is told to eat less in order to stay thin and beautiful. Many times, she is shunned from taking part in sports and restricted from pursuing higher education.

These clichéd perceptions are generating an unhealthy body image amongst young girls today, shattering their confidence and creating impediments to achieving their full potential.

Dalda Bringing A Shift In The Cultural Attitude

There is a dire need for positive influences teaching them how to combat body shaming and other pressures.

In a bid to nip these societal dilemmas, Dalda has launched an inspiring campaign #MeriAwaz to empower young girls about body image. As the brand has been synonymous with motherhood, Dalda’s Meri Awaz campaign is a relevant and effective extension of ‘Jahan Mamta Wahan Dalda’.

The purpose of #MeriAwaz is to educate mothers on how to motivate children to have a positive body image about themselves and defy the double standards prevalent in our society. It is a mother who can give her child the confidence to pursue her dream and not be bound by societal pressures.

Bringing Together A Voice Against Body Shaming

The brand united high-powered influential mothers from all walks of life for a panel discussion at the Movenpick Hotel.

Spotted on the occasion were Aamina Sheikh, Nadia Hussain, Samina Pirzada, Sarwat Gilani, Aamna Isaani, Mishaal, Samina Pirzada and Ayesha Toor.

These confident moms stressed upon ending the cycle of stereotypical negativity and practicing compassion towards children.

The focal point of the discussion was that the time had come to teach the youth to ‘feel comfortable in their own skin”.

The ladies narrated personal incidents about how they had overcome obstacles through the support and confidence given to them by their mothers and other family members.

Instead of schooling them to be skinny and thin, the mothers emphasized on imparting the message of healthy eating and nourishment amongst the younger generation.

They also reiterated the need for reaching out to schools and making the subject of ‘body positivity’ a part of the school curriculum.

Present at the event, Dalda’s Marketing Director Usama Khan highlighted that Dalda has engaged Pakistani mothers for decades and #MeriAwaz is yet another such initiative by the brand. He added that it is their corporate social responsibility to play a part in ending these existing double standards.

The Cake starlet, Aamina Sheikh also gave a motivating message at the event!

Mommy-of-two Sarwat Gilani shared that #MeriAwaz has made her feel all the more confident about combating the stereotypes imposed by society.

The supermom Nadia Hussain stated that we should prioritize the concept of fitness amongst kids rather than encouraging them to be fat or skinny.

By truly encouraging mothers to take part in the movement against body shaming, Dalda is giving a chance to our future generation to believe in inner beauty, practice self-love and live a healthy lifestyle.

What do you think about Dalda’s campaign #MeriAwaz? Let us know in the comments below.

Punjab Civil Secretariat Under Fire for Barring Entrance Without ‘Dupatta’

Punjab Civil Secretariat

A video has caught social media’s attention as women not covering their heads have been barred from entering the Minister’s Block at the Punjab Civil Secretariat in Lahore.

This came to attention after Noor Imran tweeted about her experience as she and her colleagues were not allowed to enter the premises without a dupatta on their heads.

Sindh Cabinet Declares Winking, Staring at Women as Criminal Offense

This came as a surprise for Noor as this was not her first visit and never faced an issue with her apparel before. However, this time around, she was stopped by the security and staff of the Minister’s block in the security checking room.

When confronted, the police officer on duty named Raza stated that this rule was imposed on the women to prevent men from staring at them and were set by the Minister.

Noor further shared that she then took a dupatta from a friend. When she wore it on her shoulders, she was still not allowed to enter. The female staff members told her that it had to be on her head.

BOL News Headquarters Hit with Protesters as it Fires Over 250 Employees!

Noor’s colleagues had faced the same problem the following two days as one of the girls did not have her head covered. When the officials were asked to present an official notice of this new rule, they responded by saying it is not on paper, but just verbal orders.

In the video, the guard takes the name of Dr. Yasmin Rashid, one of the Ministers who wanted this rule to be implemented. Twitter users have taken it to the social media platform to call out Dr. Rashid and have asked for an explanation.

This incident even got noticed by Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian and Senator Sherry Rehman.

What are your thoughts about this new rule? Dupatta or no dupatta?

Creative Chaos Apologizes for Alleged Discrimination Over Hijab

Creative Chaos Issues Official Statement Over Hijab Controversy

Creative Chaos

Update: Creative Chaos once again issued a statement, following the investigation by Board of Directors.

According to the statement, both the Hiring Manager and CEO were guilty of violating ethos of the company, and have accepted their mistake.

Both are no longer a part of Creative Chaos.

Creative Chaos, a technology, digital and outsourcing services company has given a statement on Khalid Alvi Marketing Next group claiming the agency has a zero-tolerance policy against any kind of discrimination.

This came after a post went viral on social media by a girl who’s friend was hired as the Associate Talent Acquisition Officer at Creative Chaos. She was asked to resign from her job because of her hijab. She was told that the only way she could keep her position was to take it off. She refused to do so and sent in her resignation.

The company has very recently formally apologised and taken the following steps to express their regret over the matter:

1. Apologized to the associate in writing and have requested to meet her in person, to do the same.

2. Requested the associate to withdraw her resignation and continue working with them with confidence.
3. Suspended the hiring manager until a transparent inquiry is conducted for further concrete actions.

The representative further added that Creative Chaos’ values and ethos are built around creating a high-performance culture based on meritocracy, growth, mutual respect and collective tolerance.

“We only appraise you on your skills, qualifications and the value you create for our customers.” stated a representative from Creative Chaos.

On the other hand, the agency’s senior representative also mentioned that as far as the CEO is concerned, the board is currently looking into the matter and it will be dealt with accordingly.

Creatve Chaos Statement

The post has been circulating around social media, and made it to Khalid Alvi Marketing Next, a Facebook group where marketing experts and critics have discussions.

The friend also claims that the CEO agreed saying that they usually do not hire people who wear hijab or “maulana type guys” and it was a mistake at their end. They do not want to give the wrong image by hiring ‘such’ people.

In a Twitter rant, the Parwaaz Hai Junoon star stated that his recent ad has now been taken off!

He revealed that the issue was raised in the Senate and PEMRA was ordered to ban ‘controversial’ ads.

While the adverts don’t exhibit vulgarity, they portray political satire. Already Shafaat is known for his animosity against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and his TVC has clearly created an uproar.

However, no notice has yet been released by PEMRA regarding the ban on Goto’s TVC. Meanwhile, Twitterverse claims that the news is false and the ad is still running on channels like HUM TV and ARY.

Pakistan’s Danish Kaneria Admits to Match Fixing Scandal

Danish Kaneria

Danish Kaneria has admitted to being involved in a fixing scandal in cricket leading to the imprisonment of former Essex team-mate Mervyn Westfield after being in denial for 6 years, reported Britain’s Daily Mail.

Kaneria, who was given a life ban by English cricket chiefs that effectively applied worldwide, said in an interview for an Al Jazeera television documentary quoted by the Mail:

My name is Danish Kaneria and I admit that I was guilty of the two charges brought against me by the England and Wales Cricket Board in 2012.

Fakhar Zaman & Zareen Khan’s Dating Rumors Circulate on Social Media

Leg-spinner Kaneria, who insisted he was repentant as he called for his life ban to be overturned, added:

I want to apologise to Mervyn Westfield, my Essex team-mates, my Essex cricket club, my Essex cricket fans. I say sorry to Pakistan.

Westfield spent two months at Belmarsh prison in south-east London after pleading guilty to accepting £6,000 ($7,862) from an illegal bookmaker, Anu Bhatt, to concede 12 runs in his first over of an English county 40-over game against Durham in 2009. He conceded only 10 but still took the money.

Kaneria was the “middle-man” in the scam, having introduced Westfield to Bhatt, but avoided criminal charges when English legal authorities decided they lacked the evidence for a conviction.

Now 37, Kaneria remains Pakistan’s leading spinner with 261 Test wickets.

– ‘Forgiveness’ –

He last played for Pakistan in the Trent Bridge Test of 2010 and has not appeared in any first-class game since March 2012, with all major boards upholding the ECB ban under International Cricket Council guidance.

I want to ask people’s forgiveness. –said Kaneria

Cricket has given me so much in my life and I want to give something back.

If the ECB and ICC and other bodies would give me a second chance I can help to educate young people in cricket, teach them that if you do wrong you are finished like me.

T10 Cricket League 2018 Announced Sony Pictures Networks India as Official Broadcast Partners

Kaneria said the fear of embarrassing his father, who died in 2013 and had been suffering from cancer, explained part of the reason behind his repeated denials of wrongdoing.

“His health was getting worse and worse,” he recalled.

“I didn’t have the courage to face him and tell him that I was wrong. He was a very, very proud guy. Very, very proud of me and what I did, representing Pakistan, representing my country.

I want to apologise to my father, who has always been a role model for me.

Meanwhile Westfield told the Mail he accepted Kaneria’s apology, saying:

This whole chapter of spot-fixing changed my life, but I have never blamed anyone for the terrible mistake I made.

However, opening up about my wrongdoing and telling the truth allowed me to move on. -added Westfield

I hope that Danish finds peace and closure by doing this, and I wish him all the best for the future.

What are your thoughts on Danish’s confession?

Taxes on Imported Cars Decrease!

Imported Car Duty

New car buyers are celebrating as the government of Punjab has drastically decreased taxes on imported cars.

It was widely expected that the car prices would reach sky-high lengths following the reintroduction of the sales and service taxes and devaluation of the Rupee. Instead, they have gone down considerably.

As per the mini-budget of 2018-2019 presented on Tuesday, Punjab government has tremendously reduced the taxes on imported and luxury vehicles. Earlier, people registered their vehicles in Islamabad due to the higher rates of registration tax in Punjab.

Toyota Car Prices Increase Following Rupee Devaluation

However, the Punjab government made the decision to increase the deteriorating revenue collection of the province.

The tax on 1300cc – 1500cc cars will now be reduced from Rs 70,000 to Rs 15,000 while the tax on 1500cc – 2000cc cars has been brought down to Rs 25,000 from Rs 125,000. According to the new finance bill, the tax on 2000cc to 3200cc cars will be lessened to Rs 100,000.

However, even though the registration tax has been reduced, the Punjab government has decided to increase the yearly token taxes on cars exceeding a 1300cc engine capacity.

The yearly token tax on 1300cc to 1500cc cars has elevated from Rs 6,000 to Rs 15,000. Moreover, the token tax on 1500cc to 2000cc cars and cars above the 2500cc have will reportedly be Rs 25,000 and Rs 300,000.

The implementation of new token taxes owners of a Honda City (1339cc) will be paying much larger taxes than owners of Toyota GLi and XLi (1298cc) because of the difference in engine capacities.

In addition, the government has allocated Rs 33 billion for the Orange Line Project, for which the government faced severe criticism because of its slow construction. Moreover, the government has also allocated funds Rs 68 billion and Rs 33.5 billion for the road sector and transporter sector of the province.

After winning the 2018 elections, the PTI government has allocated a budget of Rs 2 Trillion for the remaining fiscal year.

Pakistani Eatery’s Controversial Ad Has Sparked A Social Media Uproar!

pakistani eatery

Slamvich, a popular eatery in Karachi, has created a social media uproar by pulling off a controversial marketing stunt. Its fans are finding the ad disgusting but also super insensitive.

In a classic case of creativity gone wrong, Slamvich’s recent advertisement seems to trivialize office harassment and it is not cool at all!

And not just that, they have been promoting their sandwiches like this in the past as well and we wonder what their marketing strategies are!

Slamvichさんの投稿 2018年3月6日火曜日

In the race of getting ahead of their competitors, brands often opt for such tactics to get maximum attraction in less time. Controversial content on the internet gets viral anyway and many brands see it as the opportunity to promote their product.

Using something as sensitive as office harassment in your witty marketing approach has definitely earned the attention they wanted, but not for the right reasons.

7 Best Pizza Places in Karachi

Many people think it is just utterly disgusting for a brand to promote such humor revolving around sensitive social issues!

And they were clearly not at all impressed by such this!

In the past, Hardees also made it to the news for more or less similar marketing campaign and many people pointed that out!

And Slamvich also lost some of their customers!

Unfortunately, there were many people who found it amusing *sigh*

Brands have a huge responsibility to handle social issues with care and not hurt the sentiments of the ones who have gone through it. Dealing with sensitive topics in a lighter note will only make the problem worse instead of solving it.
