Mr. Siddiqui was recently appointed as a member of the Advisory board of Afiniti, the world’s largest Artificial Intelligence start-up, alongside former British Prime Minister David Cameron. Mr. Siddiqui has also served in various business and government advisory councils, policy institutions and commercial entities.

He has previously served as the as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister with the status of Minister of State in the Government of Pakistan from 2017-18 and was also Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States until December 2018.

He is very active in other parts of the government and corporate sector. This includes being a board member of the Community Development Board (CDB) of the Government of Sindh, Private Sector Task Force of the Planning Commission of the Government of Pakistan, Board of Investment of the Government of Sindh, and Privatisation Commission of the Government of Pakistan.

Popular Frozen Food Brands Recalled Over Poor Quality!

Some of Pakistan‘s most popular frozen food brands, including K&N’s, Dawn Foods, Mon Salwa, have been found to contain excessive amounts of fatal bacteria. Companies had to recall their products.

The reason behind this move was because the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) had found in their latest poultry and meat products analysis that the frozen items were found to have high quantities of Listeria Monocytogenes and other bacteria.

Listeria Monocytogenes is a foodborne bacteria which can be fatal to an individual’s health if consumes in a large quantity. The bacteria causes symptoms such as fever, flu-like symptoms, nausea, and diarrhea.

It causes an infection called Listeriosis which is responsible for an estimated 1,600 illnesses and 260 deaths in the US and is listed as the third deadly infection to cause deaths among foodborne bacterial pathogens, with fatality rates exceeding even Salmonella spp. and Clostridium Botulinum.

PFA has also shared results from the analysis conducted which read that the products of K&N’s DeLine have failed to meet the quality standards required by the authority.

Out of 115 total samples, 84 had passed while 16 failed on quality parameters and 15 failed on safety parameters.

Shahid Afridi Discourages Pakistanis From Traveling Abroad

Pakistani Cricket sensation, Shahid Afridi recently took to social media to promote tourism in Pakistan with beautiful vacation photos of himself.

In the photos he looks like he is truly enjoying each and every destination.

Pakistan vs India World Cup 2019: Rain to Wipe Out the Epic Match?

He mentioned in his post that he does not see why Pakistanis would choose to travel abroad for recreation when their own homeland is so wonderful.

Many fans and followers agreed with the cricketer.

Not only are they loving the photos of the breathtaking landscapes he is standing in front of, but they are also supporting his stance domestic travel.

The tourism industry of Pakistan, as per a report in 2017, generates $20 billion in revenue and supports 3.6 million jobs directly and indirectly, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council.

World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) forecasted that it would grow to over $36 billion within a decade.

It is estimated that foreign visitors generate nearly a billion US$ in exports. However, the industry still needs support from locals  to flourish, and we hope Afridi’s post will help encourage more Pakistanis to explore their beautiful country and contribute to the economy.

Sania Mirza Calls For A Stop Over ‘Cringe Worthy’ Ads To Market Pak Vs India Match

Taking a rewind, we know that many of the World Cup 2019 matches had to be drawn because of the rain, even Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka had to be thrown.

Many have seen it as a blessing, as Pakistan has not won against India in a World Cup format, and others have been crushed that the most anticipated match of the series may not even take place.

Despite their loss against Australia, Pakistani left-arm paceman Mohammad Amir is confident that Pakistan can definitely win against India.

Amir had performed exceptionally in the team’s last match by taking a whopping number of 5 major wickets.

All games are pressure games in the World Cup, same for India. We’ll have to come with a positive mindset against India. We have to win every game now and we’ll try our best.

Definitely, we can beat India. Today also our batting took the game deep. If we’re a bit more mentally strong, insha’Allah we will win.

India is currently placed at No. 3 in the points table while Pakistan is ranked at No. 8 with just one win. In order to have a chance in the next round, the green team has to win at least 4 of their 5 upcoming games.

#SudanMassacre: Pakistani Celebrities Condemn the Attack on Social Media

sudan

Sudan began celebrating the ousting of their President, Omar al-Bashir last year as the military council and opposition groups agreed on a three-year transition to democracy, aimed at handing power to the people.

However, talks of that broke down in May, and ever since the Sudanese are on the streets, demanding the authorities to keep their word.

Manchester United Midfielder Paul Pogba Shares Conversion Journey to Islam

Due to this, protesters are being subjected to extreme violence by the police authorities, and the situation is so terrifying that there is currently a blackout in Sudan with the following civilian calamities:

  • 500 killed
  • 723 injured
  • 650 arrested
  • 48 girls and women raped
  • 6 boys and men raped
  • 1000 missing

No western media is reporting on the massacre, so human rights activists have taken it upon themselves to talk about it, raise awareness, and stop it from being suppressed at such a large scale.

Pakistani celebrities have also joined the movement and are taking to their social media accounts to bring attention to the inhumane Sudan Massacre.

Mahira Khan expressed how heartbreaking she finds it.

Hania Amir requested people to raise their voice.

Armeena Khan posted a banner highlighting the issue.

Mawra expressed her grief, calling it an inhumane and ugly display of power.

Mathira posted the stats of the damage caused to help people understand the gravity of the situation.

We feel proud that the Pakistani celebrities are doing whatever they can in their respective capacities to bring light to an important movement, and hope that their efforts will bear fruit.

Maria Shamsi

Social Media Lauds Bank Alfalah Employee’s Termination Over Offensive Language

Maria Shamsi is one of the first two Pakistani women to be featured on Pitch 100 Superwomen and is also one of the youngest creative directors in Pakistan!

She has worked on a number of successful campaigns for brands including Suzuki, KFC, and edenrobe.

While talking to Maria, we learned that she wants to inspire and encourage other women to become prominent leaders in the advertising industry. She goes on to share that women are often restricted and challenged in achieving what they deserve.

Women manage not just their professional lives and careers, they also dedicate themselves to their households. They go home after work, cook and clean and also attend to their children and extended families.

Maria goes on to emphasize that men and women both need to encourage talented women.

She mentions how the environment at Synergy Group has been nurturing for women because its Managing Director Ahmed Kapadia has always encouraged and acknowledged its female talent.

It was also stated that tax has been imposed on 800cc cars in budget 2019-20 because ‘a person who owns a car cannot be deemed poor’.

The taxation authority has said that data of the people who had purchased expensive and luxury vehicles have been collected. The banks will also provide all their data to the FBR by June 15th.

On the other hand, it was also reported that FBR announced on Wednesday that the authorities have decided registration of Rs 40,000 prize bonds. A circular for the same is expected to be issued by the State Bank of Pakistan within the next two days.

The FBR also said that around 5000 people have filed applications for the Assets Declaration Scheme, and the number of applicants for the said scheme is increasing every day.

The prize bonds registration should help increase the number of applicants, even more, expects the FBR.

The FBR, in a statement, refused appearing in some sections of the press that state that the new Finance Bill allows non-filers to buy immovable property or cars.

It was clarified by the taxation authority that the new Finance Bill puts an end to the system of identifying a non-filer as a legal entity. The budget 2019-20, as a whole, is aimed at identifying non-filers and converting them to filers.

Sania Mirza Calls For A Stop Over ‘Cringe Worthy’ Ads To Market Pak Vs India Match

While giving an interview to The Times, the Middlefield shared:

It’s everything [being a Muslim]. That’s what makes me thankful for everything.

He further added:

It made me change, realize things in life. I guess, maybe, it makes me more peaceful inside. It was a good change in my life because I wasn’t born a Muslim, even if my mum was. I just grew up like that, respect for everyone.

The 26-year old defended Islam, sharing that the media always manages to portray a negative aspect of the religion.

Islam is not the image that everyone sees – terrorism. What we hear in the media is really something else. (Islam is) something beautiful. You get to know it. Anybody can find that he feels connected with Islam.

When asked how he finally accepted to accept and openly embrace the peaceful religion, he shared:

I was questioning myself in a lot of things, then I started doing my own research. I prayed once with my friends and I felt something different.

I felt really good. Since that day I just carried on. You have to pray five times a day, that’s one of the pillars of Islam. It’s something that you do.

The meaning why you do it – you ask forgiveness and be thankful for everything you have, like my health and everything.

It’s really a religion that opened my mind and that makes me, maybe, a better person. You think more about the afterlife.

This life has a test. Like when I’m with you, here. Even if you’re not a Muslim, you are a normal human. You have a human relationship and respect you for who you are, what religion you are, what color and everything.

He concluded by defining Islam in relationship with humanity.

Islam is just this – respect of humanity and everything.

Influencers Accuse Ducky Bhai & Sham Idrees for Ruining Entertainment

Ducky Bhai and Sham Idrees had taken the internet over storm the past few weeks, owing to their never-ending controversy.

They constantly blamed and claimed to expose each other for one reason or another.

Sham Idrees Exposes Zaid Ali, Shahveer Jafry & Ducky Bhai in Latest Video

Recently, their names popped up in a Twitter discussion between two popular social media influencers, Farhan Virk and Ahmer Naqvi, social media activist and former Patari CEO respectively.

Naqvi started a long, detailed thread on Twitter on June 10th about how popular media personalities like Shaan Shahid and Veena Malik often manage their social media personalities in a way that purposefully makes them seem overly patriotic.

Naqvi added that stars like these, who are visibly fading away from the limelight, resort to such actions to gain respect and stay relevant.

He also speculated the possibility that these celebrities are not behind their own accounts— rather, their accounts are managed by their Social Media and PR Teams/Managers.

Farhan Virk jumped in to express his opinion(s) on the matter, stating that the problem lies in the fact that Pakistanis do not take entertainment seriously because of abusive content creators lie Ducky Bhai and Sham Idrees.

He also mentioned Ali Gul Pir and said that they do clean, genuine comedy, whose market does not exist in Pakistan because the nation is used to enjoying cheap entertainment centered around abuses and insults.

I think entertainment either lies with abuses (ref Ducky Bhai & Sham idrees) or perhaps with someone people can mock (NKJ and Bhola record).

Clean entertainment does not have a market. Ali Gul Pir type people who make genuine content are not appreciated.

Both social media influencers agreed with each other and concluded that the market for entertainment is ruined because of cheap YouTubers and the like focused on creating controversy instead of content.
