Recently, the famous Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui appeared in an interview with Arbaaz Khan in which he revealed that he loved to hear ’Tera Wo Pyaar’ by Momina and Asim Azhar.

During an interview, he said that used to listen to the song before doing any scene of his famous movie Manto.

The clip caught the attention of Asim Azhar and he couldn’t be happier after being applauded by him.

China Introduces New 5-Year Work Visa Policy for Pakistanis

There has been a strong emphasis on Pak-China relationship over the past few years. From trade to travel, the two nations have been working to strengthen their bond on both social and economical avenues.

We’ve been noticing an increasing number in Chinese people in Karachi. From malls to the roads, they are everywhere and are doing everything from shopping from selling, driving to eating on the roadside to completely settling in.

Recently, another step has been taken to further strengthen the Pak-China relationship: A Pakistani businessman, along with three other foreigners, have been issued the first working visa of China by the administration of China’s Yiwu city in Zhejiang province.

Before this new visa policy, work visa to businessmen would only be issued for one year. The new policy will give expats more stability both socially and economically.

Mohammad Arif and three nationals of Afghanistan, Jordan, and Iraq were the first batch granted the First Class work permit by the Exit-Entry Administration of the Bureau of Yiwu’s Municipal Public Security Bureau under the new visa policy.

The work visa will be valid for five years, and this paves the way for further Pakistanis to get work visas in China and live there as expats.

Government has Launched ‘Safe Drinking Water’ for Just Rs. 1 per Litre!

The Ministry of Science and Technology has introduced a new brand of mineral water. The brand is called ‘Safe Drinking Water’ and only costs Rs. 1 per litre.

According to available details, the project is in its pilot phase and the bottles have been allocated in government offices only as of now.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has shared that this is a step towards the right direction. He added that this step was taken in light of the government’s austerity measures.

Reportedly, the Pakistan Council of Research and Water Reserves have so far prepared 500 ml bottles for the water.

As of now, the water will be served to all officials including those at PM House.

Additional IG Karachi, Ghulam Nabi Memon on Sunday shared the security plan for Muharram processions at a high-level meeting.

The meeting was attended by Advisor to CM Murtaza Wahab, DG Rangers Major General Omer Ahmed Bokhari, IG Sindh Dr Kaleem Imam, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shahlwani.

As well as, Additional IG CTD Kamran Fazal, Additional IG Special Branch Imran Minhas, Secretary Local Government Khalid Hyder Shah, Sector Commanders of intelligence agencies, the provincial head of Intelligence Bureau, Col M. Nasir of 5 Corps, Col Faisal and other officials.

Presided over by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Ghulam Nabi Memon shared that the 9th Moharram processions will begin at 12 noon from Nishtar Park.

It will be carried out through Guru Mandar – New M.A Jinnah Road and Namze Zohrain would be offered at VVIP Gate of Mazar-e-Quaid.

Karachi: Heavy Rains Expected Today & Tomorrow!

Furthermore, the procession would pass through Peoples Roundabout, New M.A Jinnah Road, Saddar Dawakhana, Empress Market, Regal Chowk, Tibet Center, Plastic Market to Hussainian Iranian Imambargah. There are expected to be over 30,000 mourners in the procession.

Moving on to the 10th Moharram procession, Additional IG Karachi shared that it will start from Nishatar Park. The route would be the same, however, Namaze Zohrain would be offered at Tibet Center at 1:30 pm.

The procession will end at Hussianina Iranian Imambrgah at 1800 hours. As many as 50,000 mourners are expected.

In order to secure the area, police officers will be deployed to nearby rooftops and walk through gates will be installed. Bomb disposal squad would sweep the areas and all the entry points.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Khalil Akhtar has become the first Pakistani to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Also known as ‘Shooter Akhtar’, he qualified after a swell performance at the World Shooting Cup which was hosted in Brazil.

He will represent Pakistan in the rapid-fire pistol event.

Pakistan Shooting Association secretary Raziuddin believes “Pakistan can win an Olympic medal in the shooting event. Qualifying through Olympic quota is a big win,” he added.

NAB Issues Notice to Popular Pakistani Actress for Money Laundering!

Sofia Mirza, who rose to stardom after her super successful comedy drama Susar in Law has been found involved in a case of money laundering by NAB and FIA.

The last time we heard of a similar case was when Ayyan Ali was caught in a similar and was sent to jail. However, she managed to run off to Dubai after that.

Naturally, Ayyan’s career was jeopardized due to it, and the same might happen to Sofia.

Sofia is a Lahore based actress and model. The money laundering case has been registered in her name in FIA and NAB and directed for further investigation so that relevant action can be taken.

Officers have been asked to take note of the matter and treat it like the crime that it is.

Socio-Economic Impact of Increasing Tensions Between Pakistan & India Over Kashmir

Tensions between India and Pakistan have highly escalated in the last few days.

Things seemed to take a turn for worse when Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) went on total lockdown after India revoked Article 370 that ensured Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.

What this translates to is that Kashmir will now no longer have a separate constitution but will have to adhere by the Indian constitution much like any other state. Pakistan Independence Day was observed in solidarity with the brave Kashmiris and their fight for their rights, while 15th August, the Indian Independence Day was observed as a Black Day.

The situation got worse as the Indian government assigned thousands of additional troops to the disputed region, forced a curfew, shut down telecommunications and internet, and arrested political leaders.

The people of occupied Kashmir faced a shortage of food and medicine and were unable to reach hospitals due to curfew.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also contacted different world leaders and notified them of India’s recent actions and urged Pakistan to remain united on the issue of Kashmir.

Here are some socio-economic effects of increasing tensions between India and Pakistan following the Kashmir issue:

1. Ban on Airing Indian Content in Pakistan

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has prohibited the broadcast of advertisements produced in India and those featuring Indian actors and characters.

PEMRA in an official statement said that the “appearance of Indian characters on Pakistani TV screens aggravates miseries of Pakistanis who are perturbed over Indian atrocities on Kashmiri brethren.”

The official text also stated that the ban on airing Indian advertisements would prevail till the time such advertisements are replaced by the those produced in Pakistan and starring Pakistani talent and actors.

2. Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan Sent back to India

Pakistan expelled the Indian High Commissioner days after New Delhi stripped the disputed Kashmir region of its special status.

3. Suspension of Trade Ties

Pakistan has decreased diplomatic relations with India and also suspended bilateral trade with it.

As per report SRO928 of 2019, all sorts of exports to India have been suspended by amending the Export Policy Order 2016, while according to notification SRO927, by amending the Import Policy Order 2016, the government has banned the import of goods of Indian origin.

The general public also seems to be supporting this decision:

Local superstore, Imtiaz Super Market has also pulled all Indian products from their shelves including clothes, spices, etc. Pakistanis will no longer find labels reading ‘Made in India’ at Imtiaz.

The supermarket shared a complete blog when taking this decision titled as ‘Imtiaz Super Market – The constant supporter and contributor to the cause of Human Rights!’

4. A “Complete Closure” of Airspace to India

Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry earlier announced that the federal cabinet was thinking of applying a complete ban on the use of Pakistani airspace for Indian flights.

He also suggested a complete ban on Indian trade to Afghanistan through Pakistan land routes.

“Modi has started we’ll finish!” the minister wrote.

Following this statement, Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) closed three aviation routes of Karachi airspace from August 28 till 31.

Karachi: Heavy Rains Expected Today & Tomorrow!

Storms and rain in Karachi are back after a break, and while many are excited about enjoying the monsoon season, many are worried sick thinking about the usual consequences of this weather.

More heavy rains are expected in the City of Light today and tomorrow according to weather experts. Pakistan Meteorological Department’s chief meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz told Geo News shared a total of 40-50mm rain is expected.

Showers are expected to start after 3-4pm and will carry on overnight. Monsoon season is expected to continue till 30th September.

As rainwater seeps inside houses and ruins furniture, standing rainwater causes electrocution and dreadful diseases.

Keeping all the issues in consideration, Waseem Akhtar (Mayor of Karachi) declared rain emergency in all public hospitals yesterday, so that any health emergencies due to rain can be dealt with on a priority basis.

Owing to this, the medical and paramedical staff’s leaves have been canceled and they have been directed to remain on duty. The municipal services staff and works department have also been deployed in the field.

Waseem has also advised Karachiites to take the following preventive measures so that such incidents can be avoided:

  • Seal your windows with cloth/towel pieces to keep water from seeping in
  • Maintain a distance from poles, transformers, downed power lines, low-hanging power lines and trees that have fallen on power lines
  • Cancel any flights that you may have during the days’ stormy weather is expected
  • Don’t head out without an umbrella and raincoat

Most Out-Of-School Children In The World – Pakistan is on #2

Currently, Pakistan has the world’s second-highest number of out-of-school children, according to an alarming report by UNICEF.

An estimate of 22.8 million children aged 5-16 are not attending school, factoring 44% of the total population in this age group.

In the 5-9 age group, 5 million children are not registered in schools and after primary-school age and so the number of out-of-school children doubles, with 11.4 million adolescents between the ages of 10-14 not receiving a formal secondary education.

Differences based on gender, socio-economic status, and geography are notable with a high number of the poorest children, specifically girls being out of school.

NGOs and other organisations are working in Pakistan to bring down the numbers. They work on funds and donations as aid to help the children from the lower class.

The  illiteracy rate has become very alarming as majority of Pakistan’s youth will be uneducated if the stats continue as they are. Many volunteers have signed up for programs to help give back to the community by providing formal and informal education.

In order to stimulate progress and ensure the fair expansion of quality education, UNICEF also supports the Government of Pakistan’s efforts to significantly reduce the number of OOSC at pre-primary, primary and lower secondary levels.

Recently, Bilal Bin Saqib got the honour of receiving the award of “Highly Commended Masters Student of the Year 2019” by FindAMasters for his excellent leadership qualities and academic excellence at his campus.

Bilal was also the Postgraduate Students’ Officer at his campus between 2018-19 at the LSE where he represented 7000 students on both local and international levels.

FinaAMasters, a database of Masters degree programmes and global opportunities, recognizes highly motivated and competent students.

Here is what the London School of Economics’ Students Union said in a congratulatory statement:

“A big congratulations to your outgoing Postgraduate Students’ Officer Bilal Bin Saqib for his recent award of highly commended Masters Students of the year! Bilal has worked so hard to give back to the LSE community throughout his time here and we’re very proud to see that his efforts have been rewarded. Well done Bilal and we wish you all the best for your next adventures.

Here’s what Bilal Bin Saqib said in an interview:

“It means a lot to me as it celebrates not just my academic position but also the experiences that I gained throughout the year. This year my goal has not just been on self-learning but also on making an impact among the students’ community at LSE campus.”

From getting invited by the CEO of Audemars Piguet to hosting Alexandre Arnault, Alex Partridge, Sadhguru on campus, getting the chance to meet other notable personalities from all over the world, reaching a figure of 40,000 individuals in terms of impact through Tayaba.org- the year 2018-2019 will be marked as one of the most incredible years in my experience diary.”

IMC Testing Toyota Yaris in Pakistan on the Motorway [View Spy-Shots]

Indus Motor Company (IMC) has been spotted testing a camouflaged Toyota Yaris on the motorway in Pakistan.

Images of the car have surfaced and are making rounds on the internet and are going viral all over social media.

It is highly possible that the automotive brand is testing the ride on the road for a year-end launch of the Yaris in Pakistan.

There were a total of two cars spotted, both in camouflaged and registered to IMC. The one with the license plate ‘BQQ-861’ is a 1329cc engine ride (1.3L) and the other with the plate ‘BQQ-386’ equipped with a 1498cc engine (1.5L).

September 11, 2019: Photos of Aiman Khan and Muneeb Butt with their new born daughter Amal Khan are spreading across social media like fire in a jungle, and we aren’t really surprised

Soon after the photos went viral on the internet, Minal Khan and Aiman Khan have been requesting to delete the pictures. Surprisingly, Aiman Khan also blocked a number of pages for posting leaked pictures on their handle.

While expressing her anger, Minal Khan commented on her fan pages to delete the pictures.

August 30, 2019: One of Pakistan’s most well-known and adored couple, Aiman Khan and Muneeb Butt have been blessed with their first bundle of joy.

Just a few days ago, we saw a few images surface from Aiman’s baby shower hinting at the gender of the baby. Now, it has been confirmed.

Both parents have welcomed their first child, a baby girl, into this world. The mother and the baby are said to be doing fine and now their fans just cannot stop pouring their love to the new parents.

The new father took it to his Instagram to announce the news of the blessing! He also announced the name of the baby girl as ‘Amal Muneeb’.

30th August: Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat applauded BBC World for highlighting the serious issue of Kashmir.

She further writes that she is happy that the world is finally seeing what is really happening in Kashmir.

She further adds that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

The starlet retweeted the article titled ‘Kashmiris Allege Violent Army Crackdown’. To show solidarity with Kashmir, Pakistan observed ‘Kashmir Hour’ as Pakistanis filled the roads to protest.

The national anthem was played and sirens blazed all across Pakistan.

16th August: Mehwish Hayat is both loved and criticized by Pakistani and international fans for the stellar display of her acting and dancing skills on the screen.

She stole the spotlight for both good and bad reasons after receiving the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in March this year.

And she has stolen the spotlight yet again, after her address at a Peace event in Oslo(Norway) and recognized with an award for Pride of Performance.

In her speech Mehwish Hayat emphasized on how film industries have mostly used their power and platform to present a negative image of Pakistan and Pakistanis, when they could actually have done the opposite and broken the stereotypes the world already holds about our country.

This takes us to another celebrity who has been trending all over social media, but for the wrong reasons:

Priyanka Chopra, popular Bollywood actress and a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, responded to a Pakistani-American woman’s audacious question at the BeautyCon summit in Los Angeles and has been under the fire ever since.

The question was with regards to the tweet Chopra had posted in February in support of an announcement from India about launching airstrikes in Pakistani territory.

She was asked why she had been advocating war between two countries especially while she is an extremely influential persona and also a Goodwill Ambassador for UN.

Chopra’s response was criticized all over the world for being condescending, and soon a comparison between Mehwish Hayat and Priyanka Chopra began.

Here is what Chopra said:

“I hear you,” she said. “Whenever you’re done venting… Got it? Done? OK, cool. War is not something I’m really fond of, but I am patriotic.”

Chopra ended her response with the following demeaning lines:

“Girl, don’t yell. We’re all here for love. Don’t yell. Don’t embarrass yourself.”

The comparison between Hayat and Chopra has gained so much traction that people have started petitions to take Chopra down as UN Goodwill Ambassador.

This situation has also led people’s attention back to when Mehwish Hayat received the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and how she really does deserve the award.

Flood Red Alert Issued by Met Office in Karachi for the Weekend!

Monsoon currents are penetrating in southern parts of Pakistan and increasing temperatures are likely to result in stronger rains, according to weather experts.

Karachi observed heavy rainstorm on Wednesday, while Thursday remained relatively calm in terms of weather.

According to the weather department, here is the amount of rainfall received by various areas:

  • Thatta: maximum rainfall of 83mm
  • Islam Kot: 61
  • North Karachi: 55mm rainfall
  • Saddar and Jinnah Terminal: 42mm
  • Model Observatory: 38mm
  • Landhi, Kemari :32mm
  • Old area: 29mm
  • PAF Faisal: 27mm
  • Nazimabad: 26mm
  • PAF Masroor: 02mm.
  • Badin: 39mm
  • Tandojam: 38mm
  • Hyderabad: 25mm
  • Diplo: 23mm
  • Rohri: 17mm
  • Kaloi: 15mm
  • Shaheed Benazirabad: 12mm
  • Sukkur: 09mm
  • Nagar Parkar: 08mm
  • Sakrand: 05mm
  • Mirpurkhas, Chhor, and Mithi: 04mm
  • Moenjodaro: 02mm

However, Pakistan Met Office has again warned the city of heavy rainfall and red alert has been issued for expected flooding as well.

According to the forecast around, 8 districts of Sindh can expect anywhere between 50 to 70mm heavy rainfall with water logging in low lying areas of the city and isolated places in other parts of Sindh.
