The craze for the Turkish drama serial Dirilis Ertugrul is sky-high in Pakistan! Pakistani people have become fans of the actors. That the actors have a bigger fan following in Pakistan than Turkey itself!

Time and time again, lead actors Engin Altan and Esra Bilgic have shown their Love towards their Pakistani fans and have dedicated small tokens to them.

On Eid, Altan posted a video of himself wishing everyone a blessed holiday, and now Altan has once again won hundreds of thousands of hearts by paying tribute to Junaid Jamshed by singing ‘Dil Dil Pakistan.’

This beautiful gesture has left many Pakistanis in awe and has them star-struck!

We all have heard heart-warming stories of how individuals and couples have decided to accept Islam because of its simplicity and beauty.

This time around, a Mexican couple accepted their new religion because of the viral and top-rated Turkish drama series,  Dirilis: Ertugrul.

The couple decided that Islam was the religion for them after they met Abdur Rahman Alp, aka Celal Al from Dirilis:  Ertugrul in 2019.

Alp met the couple during the 22nd annual meeting of the Muslim American Society. Towards the end of the event,  the couple converted by reciting the Islamic proclamation of faith with the help of the famous actor.

The couple said, “we were affected by Turkish TV series (Dirilis: Ertuğrul) Resurrection: Ertuğrul and Turkey’s humanitarian activities around the world, and then decided to become Muslim.”

Another soul-touching story about conversion to Islam is of Rosie Gabrielle. She was fighting depression, among many other health problems.

The influencer then soon announced that she had embraced the religion of Islam on her social media.

When questioned about how she made the big decision, she shared that it was because of her trip to Pakistan!

She added that she paid accolades to Pakistan and its people, who helped her get rid of the pain she has been going through for years and fulfill her desire to be free.

Why Did Rosie Gabrielle  Choose Islam?

She wrote an Instagram post with the following message:

“What lead me to this Big decision?

As I mentioned previously, this last year was one of the hardest in my life, and all life’s challenges have led me to this point here and now.

From a young child, I’ve always had a unique connection with the creation and a special relationship with God.

My path was far from easy, and I carried a lot of anger in my heart from a lifetime of pain, always begging God, why me?

Until ultimately coming to the conclusion that all is meant to be, and even my suffering is a gift.

Never resonating with what I was brought up with, I denounced my religion four years ago, going down a dark path of spiritual discovery.

Exploration of self, and the great Divine. I never let go of the sight of the Creator; in fact, my curiosity and connection only grew stronger.

Now no longer dictated by fear, I was able to explore this righteous path fully.

As time passed, the more I experienced, the more I witnessed the true nature and calling for my life. I wanted to be free. Free of the pain and shackles, that was hell.

Liberation from the anger, hurt, and misalignment. I wanted Peace in my heart, forgiveness, and the most profound connection with all. And thus started my journey.

The universe brought me to Pakistan, not only to challenge myself to let go of the last remaining traces of pain and ego but also to show me the way.

Hot N Spicy Karachi Comes Under Scrutiny For The Violation Of SOP’s!

Pakistan eased its lockdown just before Eid. Restaurants, shops, and other ‘bazaars’ were allowed to re-open after a month of closure. Specific SOP’s have to be followed as provided by the government. However, a video of a popular fast food joint, Hot and Spicy, has been going viral over social media, which is utterly shocking!

The video is made inside the Hot and Spicy kitchen, and it looks like they have not received the SOP memo! None of the staff is wearing protective face masks or gloves. Hairnets, aprons, and uniforms, which are standard health guidelines to be followed, are also not being followed by some of the employees, as seen in the video.

If you’ve been ordering food in from restaurants after the lockdown was relaxed, this video is a must-watch!

As seen below, none of the employees are wearing a protective face mask that has now become mandatory by law!

Furthermore, the kitchen staff is not wearing hand gloves either.

Inside the tiny restaurant kitchen, there are way too many people present at once, disregarding the social distancing rule completely. 

One of the staff members can be seen at the back of the kitchen, not wearing a hairnet either! Ignoring basic health protocols to be followed by eateries. 

The short video was uploaded by a member of the food group on Facebook, SWOT’S Guide to Karachi’s Restaurants, Cafes, Dhabas, HBFE & Takeouts.

The poor hygienic conditions seen in the video are scary! Especially during a crucial time as such where proper hygiene is essential.

However, some believed it was rude of the customer to make a video of the employees since it is the management’s responsibility to provide face masks and gloves in the workspace.

The eatery’s management should be keeping a check and ensuring that the SOP’s are being followed as per the guidelines.

  2. Do not engage in a conversation with an attendant if it means taking your eyes off the meter. You can continue it if you are still looking at the meter.
  3. Do not give money to the attendant while the meter is still running even if you are in a rush.
  4. Once you check the “zero meter” make sure it remains ‘zero’ until the nozzle is inserted/switched on.
  5. If the pump stops pre-maturely, pay close attention to the meter.

Although it seems like something that takes effort and time, it will save you money!

The first episode of Daasi aired on 16th September 2019. Starring Mawra Hocane, Adeel Hussain, and Faryal Mehmood, this show seemed promising. Famous writer and director, Misbah Nausheen and Mohsin Talat, failed to hit the right chords.

The show could’ve easily been a simple romantic tale, but it failed to impress after exhibiting misogyny.

2. Main Na Janoo (Hum TV)

Starring Sanam Jung, Zahid Ahmed, and Affan Waheed, this is an Adnan Siddiqui production and directed by Furqan Khan. The plot of the show goes beyond one’s logical comprehension and is left with the actors continuing to play cat and mouse in the entire series.

There are cunning women, “Bechari” (innocent) girls and lovers that could never be together. The drama delivered yet another kick in the gut to Pakistani viewers with its same old stereotypes.

3. Thoda Sa Haq

This show takes the level of stupidity to another level. We honestly couldn’t make either head nor tail of it. When we discuss cousin and forced marriages, we can’t help but think about certain stereotypical aspects of desi society.

This show has it all, from cheating to lying and more. With popular actors like Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan, the audience expected a sensible plot, but to their surprise, they were proven immensely wrong.

4. Bewafa (ARY)

With a star cast like Ali Rehman, Ushna Shah, and Naveen Waqar – Bewafa appears to be created by the perspective of extremely typical and orthodox creators. Let us give you a synopsis of this show. You’ll be watching the repetitive cycle of her getting tortured and abused, episode by episode. Doesn’t get any more cliched than that.

Vodafone UK’s youth brand VOXI’s latest ad, “I am Endless” is filmed, edited and produced entirely from home in just 16 days!

What is the ‘I am Endless’ Ad About?

The campaign portrays what can be achieved by merely using mobile and broadband technologies. This fun to watch video shows a teenager connecting with his friends and family during the coronavirus lockdown. The production is shot entirely using his Samsung S20 smartphone, using its 4k front and rear cameras for the visuals and internal microphones for the audio.

While watching the ad, one can surely relate to what the actor is going through. He is seen baking, video calling his grandparents, and having a virtual dance party with his friends. Haven’t we all been there at some point during this quarantine?

Ad agency, Ogilvy, was about two weeks away from launching a campaign for Voxi when the lockdown began. Jon Tapper, head of advertising at Ogilvy, said:

“Lots of the strategic and creative work had been done in building a new brand platform for Voxi, about how a young person was using social media to get the most out of the world around them, and obviously overnight that world had changed, so that was the pivot point.”

5. Abrar-ul-Haq

Singer-turned-politician, Abrar ul Haq, also revealed that he had been tested positive for COVID-19. The PTI leader took to Twitter to share the news on Sunday.

6. Naveed Raza

Another star from the show Mera Dil Mera Dushman tested positive for the novel virus is Raza, who took Instagram to announce his condition.

7. Salman Ahmed 

The singer, who was in New York for his musical projects, got himself tested after he experienced symptoms of the virus. Plus, Ahmad remained there due to the suspension of flights. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Salman discussed his journey from the time he started feeling coronavirus symptoms to him, eventually becoming healthy once again.

Furthermore, on Friday, Pakistan broke its previous record of the highest single-day rise ever, reporting 4,896 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry said. With the latest surge, Pakistan’s tally of coronavirus cases has reached 89,248, already surpassing China, and landing the country at the 17th spot in terms of coronavirus cases, the data shows.

Another 68 patients lost their lives due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, across the country, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 1,838. Some 31,198 patients have recovered.

Morris Garages (M.G..G.) Motor U.K..K. Limited, a British automotive company owned by Shanghai-based SAIC Motor.

JW Park has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M.G.G. to introduce Electric Vehicles (E.V.s.V.s) in Pakistan.

Earlier, we shared that Javed Afridi, known to be the owner of the popular Pakistan Super League (P.S.L.) franchise Peshawar Zalmi, had taken a spin with the MG E-Motion.

Moreover, reports shared claim that Chinese President Xi Jinping will inaugurate the plant during a visit to Pakistan later this year.

When the E.V.s.V.s launch, they will be direct competitors of the K.I.A. Sportage, which has taken the market by storm.

On the other hand, these E.V.s.V.s are expected to be priced around 4.5 million to 5.5 million, which is a highly competitive price range.

However, with the current economic situation due to the novel coronavirus, as well as the hit the industry, as well as the demand, has taken, there may be a chance that M.G..G. delays or cancels their plans.

Earlier, Renault had also shown its interest in the Pakistani auto sector; however, due to the unstable economy, they decided to put the plan on ice.

While things will take time to settle down, it won’t be until a few months before we can be sure if we will see these M.G..G. vehicles in Pakistan once again.

News has been floating in the air recently that J.W. has set up their plant in Pakistan.

Furthermore, they were looking to establish the most significant private venture of electric vehicle (E.V.) manufacturing.

J.W. Auto Park inked a Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U.) with Morris Garages (M.G.) for their electric rides. M.G. initially started as a British brand but was taken over by a Chinese Firm.

It is being reported that the plant was to be inaugurated by the Chinese President during a visit to Pakistan later this year.

However, no reports have come forward on this matter. Moreover, with the novel coronavirus lingering upon our heads, the inauguration of the plant is not happening anytime soon.

Javed Afridi, known to own the top-rated Pakistan Super League team Peshawar Zalmi has shared not one but two videos on his social media page, confirming that M.G. is bringing a locally assembled E.V. soon.

It is expected to be tested on the roads in Pakistan and also expected that the S.U.V. would be made available for purchasing soon.

Afridi announced the launch of the MG E-Motion, and that bookings for this one are now open in his second video.

“Here you go with a First Fully Electric Vehicle from M.G. Road Trials Started in Pakistan.” He wrote for the first video.

It is expected that both vehicles will be priced somewhere between 4- 5.5 million or possibly lower if the tax benefits start to kick in.

About the M.G. Car Brand

M.G. is a British Automotive marque founded by Cecil Kimber in the 1920s, and M.G. Car Company Limited was the British sports car manufacturer that made the marque famous.

Best known for its ‘midget’ open two-seater sports cars, M.G. also produced saloons and coupés, with engines up to three liters in size. The marque is now owned by Chinese automotive giant SAIC Motor Corporation Limited.

M.G. cars had their roots in a 1920s sales promotion sideline of Morris Garages, a retail sales and service center in Oxford belonging to William Morris. The business’s manager, Cecil Kimber, modified standard production Morris Oxfords and added M.G. Super Sports to the plate at the nose of the car.

A separate M.G. Car Company Limited was incorporated in July 1930. It remained Morris’s personal property until 1 July 1935, when he sold it to his holding company, Morris Motors Limited.

From the beginning, health experts have constantly been advising individuals that are regularly washing hands is one of the most effective ways of protecting oneself from the novel coronavirus.

In the fight against COVID-19, Samsung is one of the brands that has gone out-of-the-box. The tech titan has now designed a designated application for its range of Galaxy Watch smartwatches.

The application will remind the wearers to regularly wash their hands after intervals, which can be modified within the app’s setting. The application will be available for:

According to a recent study by the University College London, washing hands 6-10 times a day is optimum plus additional hand washes after toilet visits and before eating.

Samsung commented on the release of its app, saying:

While awareness has increased the importance of washing one’s hands frequently and thoroughly, opinions can differ on what ‘frequently and thoroughly’ actually means in practice. This is why Samsung has developed an app to provide a clear guide on how, and how regularly, users should be washing their hands.

8th May 2020:

According to a blog called SamMobile, Samsung is launching a new program that will help you clean your phone with the help of UV-C light. A Deloitte study found in 2018 suggested that we touch our smartphones more than 50 times per day.

Health officials around the globe have advised people to take extra precautions in terms of protecting themselves from the deadly virus.

Lego Takes A Firm Stand In Support Of #BlackLivesMatter Movement

Corporate brands are coming together to support the Black Lives Matter movement, the latest to join the bandwagon is Lego. The toy production company is taking a firm stand in helping the people and the organizations working for the Black lives matter movement.

Lego announced on Wednesday through Twitter that it will be donating $4 million to organizations dedicated to supporting black children. Not only this, but it has also decided to stop marketing for toy police characters and police-themed toy sets.

Apple Must ‘Do More’ To Fight Racial Inequality: CEO Tim Cook

As more brands speak in favor of a revolution after the horrific incident that took place with George Floyd, Apple CEO Tim Cook says the company needs to do more to fight racial inequality.

In an open letter addressing the tragedy, he writes, “To create change, we have to reexamine our own views and actions in light of a pain that is deeply felt but too often ignored,”

“Issues of human dignity will not abide standing on the sidelines. To the Black community—we see you. You matter, and your lives matter.” He continues.

Moreover, Cook, in an internal memo, pledged to his employees that the company would donate to several groups, including the Equal Justice Initiative, a nonprofit focused on racial injustice.

Furthermore, he shared that the tech titan will offer a two-for-one match for employee donations in June.

Cook added that Apple would “commit to continuing our work to bring critical resources and technology to underserved school systems,” as well as “fight the forces of environmental injustice—like climate change—which disproportionately harm Black communities and other communities of color.” 


June 1st, 2020: 

Apple has announced to temporarily close its US retails stores in the recent wake of protests and looting sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

The reason why the brand has decided to close its stores is for the safety of their employees.

Several Apple Stores have become victims of damages and looting across the coast. Reportedly, many US store closures will extend at least through June 1st.

The company’s official statement reads:

With the health and safety of our teams in mind, we’ve made the decision to keep a number of our stores in the US closed on Sunday.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Apple had shut down all of its 271 stores in the US. It then reopened just 140 stores following SOPs and precautions issued by the government.

Nike Releases Powerful Campaign ‘Don’t Do It’ After George Floyd Attack!

March 26th, 2020: Apple seems to have notified its staff about the opening of stores after closures due to COVID-19. The stores may now be able to open after the first week of April worldwide, depending on the situation of the country at the time.

The details were disclosed in a memo from Senior Vice President of People and Retail Deirdre O’Brien that was obtained by Bloomberg News. O’Brien states in the note,

“For all of our retail stores outside of Greater China, we will reopen our stores on a staggered basis. At this time, we anticipate some stores may be able to open in the first half of April depending on the conditions in their community. We will provide updates for each store as soon as specific dates are established.”

A total of 458 retail Apple Stores outside of China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan were closed down due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The stores were closed down to curb the spread of the virus. The 42 stores in China were also closed but have now reopened after the country has managed to get the infection under control.

Apple has also initiated remote work for its employees and has mentioned that the duration would now be extended after Apple’s global offices outside of China were closed down this month.

The memo further included details of remote working and flexible work arrangements,

“In all our offices outside of Greater China, we are extending flexible work arrangements for all team members -outside of those whose work requires them to be onsite, through at least April 5, which will then be reevaluated weekly depending on your location.”

The company has always put the health of its staff, customers, and communities first. Apple was one of the first to shut down its stores worldwide due to the pandemic. It has also donated millions of masks to health-care professionals and given out huge donations.

Emirates Resumes Passenger Flight Operations From Pakistan to Dubai!

After more than two months of flight suspensions due to Covid-19, Emirates announces the resuming of operations of passenger flights from Pakistan to Dubai from Monday.

The international carrier is ready to resume 14 weekly flights to Dubai. This includes a daily flight from Karachi, five from Lahore, and two from Islamabad.

“From Pakistan, the airline will fly UAE residents as well as cargo to Dubai,” Emirates’ Vice President Pakistan Mohammad Sarhan said in a statement. “On the flights from Dubai to Pakistan, the airline will only carry cargo. Emirates will serve Pakistan with its modern Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, flying from Karachi daily, from Islamabad on Thursdays and Saturdays and Lahore on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.”

May 14th, 2020:

Emirates has officially announced to operate passenger flights from May 21st to 9 destinations around the world.

These flights will be available for booking on emirates.com.

Travelers will only be accepted on these flights if they comply with the eligibility and entry criteria requirements of their destination countries.

This includes approval from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) for UAE residents who wish to return to Dubai.

The destinations are:

  1. London Heathrow
  2. Frankfurt
  3. Paris
  4. Milan
  5. Madrid
  6. Chicago
  7. Toronto
  8. Sydney and
  9. Melbourne

The airline will also offer connections in Dubai for customers traveling between the UK and Australia.

April 3rd, 2020:

Emirates has received approvals to carry passengers on certain flights. Valid Monday, April 6th, initial flights will commence from Dubai to London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Paris, Brussels, and Zurich. There will also be four flights a week to London Heathrow, and three flights a week to the other cities.

Operating from Dubai International airport Terminal 2 until further notice, these flights will only carry outbound passengers from the UAE.

Emirates will also carry belly-hold cargo in directions, supporting trade and communities with the transport of essential goods.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman, and Chief Executive, Emirates airline and Group said:

These initial passenger services, although limited to travelers who meet the entry requirements set by the destination countries, will be welcomed by our customers seeking to return home to their countries and families.

We would like to thank the UAE government and all our partners for their support in ensuring the smooth operation of our flights.

While we hope to resume full operations as soon as possible, we acknowledge the challenges faced by many cities in dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak.

Our network can only be restored with the easing of travel restrictions, and we maintain close contact with all authorities for the latest updates.

We are working closely with the authorities to resume our services, keeping in mind the safety and wellbeing of our crew and customers at every step of the journey.

We continuously review the situation and will announce any additional services as they become available.

Emirates will operate its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on these routes, offering seats in Business and Economy class. Eligible passengers on www.emirates.com can book flights.

For health and safety reasons, Emirates will operate a modified inflight service program on these flights. Magazines and other print reading material will not be available.

While food and beverages will continue to be offered onboard, packaging and presentation will be modified to reduce contact during meal service Emirates’ Lounge, and Chauffeur Drive services will be temporarily unavailable during this period.

All Emirates aircraft will go through enhanced cleaning and disinfection processes in Dubai after each journey.
