June 5th, 2020:

As more brands speak in favor of a revolution after the horrific incident that took place with George Floyd, Apple CEO Tim Cook says the company needs to do more to fight racial inequality.

In an open letter addressing the tragedy, he writes, “To create change, we have to reexamine our own views and actions in light of a pain that is deeply felt but too often ignored,”

“Issues of human dignity will not abide standing on the sidelines. To the Black community—we see you. You matter, and your lives matter.” He continues.

Moreover, Cook, in an internal memo, pledged to his employees that the company would donate to several groups, including the Equal Justice Initiative, a nonprofit focused on racial injustice.

Furthermore, he shared that the tech titan will offer a two-for-one match for employee donations in June.

Cook added that Apple would “commit to continuing our work to bring critical resources and technology to underserved school systems,” as well as “fight the forces of environmental injustice—like climate change—which disproportionately harm Black communities and other communities of color.”

Apple has announced to temporarily close its US retails stores in the recent wake of protests and looting sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

The reason why the brand has decided to close its stores is for the safety of their employees.

Several Apple Stores have become victims of damages and looting across the coast. Reportedly, many US store closures will extend at least through June 1st.

The company’s official statement reads:

With the health and safety of our teams in mind, we’ve made the decision to keep a number of our stores in the US closed on Sunday.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Apple had shut down all of its 271 stores in the US. It then reopened just 140 stores following SOPs and precautions issued by the government.

Sehar Hayat, Warda Javaid, Kanwal Aftab, Daniyal Sohail, and many others from the TikTok community were also a part of the grand event held in the Governor House.

Governor of Punjab’s wife chaired the meeting and guided the social media influencers about the campaign.

June 2, 2020: The Secondary Healthcare Department and Punjab Primary sent an alarming summary to CM Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar. The review revealed that “no workplace and residential area of any town is disease-free” in Lahore.

The total coronavirus cases in the city of Lahore are estimated to be 700,000.

The mentioned summary was dated May 15, signed by Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary, Muhammad Usman, which advises the CM Punjab to enforce a complete lockdown as soon as possible for “at least four weeks.”

The summary says, “a smart lockdown would not work since all areas of the city had been impacted by the disease, adding that asymptomatic cases became the main source of infection and local transmission” in the metropolis.

Punjab

The summary recommended, “Any subsequent decision of lifting, relaxing, or doing away with lockdown measures should be taken after reviewing the results of smart sampling conducted with regular intervals till the final tapering down of the virus.”

12 People Who Predicted The Coronavirus Pandemic

The summary listed the results of a “smart sampling project” to “detect and determine the spread of Covid-19 and to structure and guide [the department’s] response towards its containment”.

Randomized targeted sampling (RTS) and smart sampling (SS) were carried out by the departments. The results suggest that the former was to determine the prevalence of the disease in occupational sectors that were fully functional during the lockdown, while the latter was to understand how the virus may have had spread in the community.

After relevant exercises, the summary estimated that Lahore has around 670,800 coronavirus cases with a total population of 11 million +.

Punjab

However, as of June 1, Punjab has officially only reported 26,240 infections and 497 deaths due to the virus.

The data that was analyzed was derived from multiple workplaces, residential areas, and hotspots that demonstrated “a worrisome picture of Covid-19 prevalence” in communities, with a 5.18pc infection rate for RTS and 6.01pc for SS.

“This means that no workplace and residential area of any town are disease-free and, as such, Lahore exhibits an alarmingly similar transmission pattern.”

“These cases being asymptomatic could not be reported to health facilities, but became the main source of infection and local transmission,” the report said.

“The wise town breakdown shows a value of more than three percent for all towns — except Wagha Town — and ranges between 2.11pc and 9.33pc.”

It is notable to mention that people over 50 years of age are the most vulnerable and are affected by respiratory illness, as highlighted in the international research literature.

All hell broke loose when model Sadaf Kanwal tied the knot with actor Shahroz Sabzwari last week. Both Shahroz and Sadaf stated that they’re ‘just friends’ earlier this year and denied the rumors of dating – which is why social media was abuzz once the two got hitched.

Their nikkah took the social media by storm, and the netizens were quick to flood twitter with countless memes and their two cents on the matter. The said affair was earlier cited by gossip-mongers to be the reason for separation and ultimately divorce between Shahroz and first wife, Syra Yousuf.

Appearing with the VoiceOver Man on YouTube, the model turned actress was asked several controversial questions by the host, whose show is known to swing sharp items at celebrities, catching them off-guard.

Sadaf Kanwal’s Resurfaced Interview With The Voice Over Man

The model is popular with landing herself in hot waters over verbal diarrhea in most of her interviews. When the host Wajahat Rauf asked, “why do you change your boyfriends like people change their clothes?” The model was quick to respond and clapped back saying, “I’m too young right now, I’m a baby, and I’m exploring.”

On the other hand, actor Shahroze Sabzwari released a video on Monday night defending his wife and his family. The Chain Aaye Naa actor took to social media and shared a four-minute-long clip.

The actor released the video in response to the latest controversy that he landed in after tying the knot with model Sadaf Kanwal.

Sharing the video on Instagram, Shahroz curtly stated, “The only reason I am recording this video is to defend my family and myself. Something I have a right to. Whatever is being said about my family, about me, I shall guard with my last breath, because I am a righteous man.”

He continued, “I stand before my God, the Holy Book and my Prophet (PBUH), and vow that the separation between Syra and I happened in August 2019. The reason for the said separation was never a woman. Sadaf was never a reason for our separation; neither was infidelity.”

Shahroz further added, “Whoever is claiming that the reason for our failed marriage was me cheating on Syra, should come forward with proofs. I challenge that person too.”

Talking about his separation, the Dilruba actor added, “I met Sadaf for work after three or four months after my separation with Syra. I made a video earlier, which is now being edited and twisted. I can vow that nothing I said in that video was a lie because, at that time, Sadaf was only my colleague. After that first video, Syra and I tried to reconcile, but we couldn’t. The reason why our marriage broke has been very personal to us as a couple, and we couldn’t solve it.”

Khalid Malik Urges PM Khan & PEMRA To Save The Radio Industry

Save Radio

Radio Host at FM 91, Khalid Malik urges Prime Minister Imran Khan and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to save the radio industry.

Due to the insistence of PEMRA on astronomical fees for license renewal, the radio industry in Pakistan is heading for imminent collapse – with the closure of over 100 radio stations all over the country and rendering thousands of people jobless.

This is an appeal to #pemra and the government @imrankhan.pti Save RADIO.

He wrote with a heavy heart: I have been a broadcaster for 15 years and never thought that I would see this day where the existence of radio would be put into question here in Pakistan.

Radio has evolved. It’s not just about sitting in the car and turning a dial. It’s much more than that. It is the only medium that is accessible to everybody.

It is the medium of hope. It is the medium through which people come together, especially in times of hardship.

During my darkest times, I know that radio helped me through it.

During these uncertain times, I appeal to the powers to keep the radio, to save the radio, and allow for it to play its part in society.

I also appeal to advertisers to see radio more than just a frequency or a dial. It is much more, and it has come a long way, as it welcomes the digital age. In other parts of the world, showtimes have increased; advertising is booming, especially during these times. There is a recognition of the role that radio plays.

Let’s work together. Let’s keep the radio. SAVE RADIO!

Karachi Just Witnessed The Most Terrifying Dust Storm! [Watch Videos]

karachi dust storm
Credits: Let's Go Out

Yesterday, as the sun settled down and the moon started to awake, chilly winds took over the city of Karachi.

The metropolis found itself in the middle of a dust storm with rain in different parts of the city. Moreover, the gushes of wind blew massive dust as well as trash and debris all around!

It was a sight to see, a view that was beautiful for some, but horrific for others. The same dust storm claimed the lives of as many as four and started a fire at a cattle farm.

Many used their smartphones to make videos and snap pictures of the sight they will remember for days.

Reportedly, several individuals also got hurt after walls collapsed, in not one but two separate incidents in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar and Gulshan-i-Maymar areas according to an Edhi spokesperson.

Dust Storm in Karachi Caught on Camera!

Karachi weatherman Sardar Sarfaraz told Dawn that Karachi’s northwestern areas and the entire east Balochistan were covered under a westerly trough, which combined with the city’s hot and humid weather to produce a dust storm.

As is usually the case, the dust storm caused light rain in some areas and drizzle in others, Sarfaraz added.

“It is a short-lived phenomenon and has exited most areas,” he said. He clarified that the dust storm was not a result of Cyclone Nisarga. On occasion, he shared that the MET department’s airport office had issued warnings to aviation authorities at around 7:45 pm about the dust storm’s approach.

Earlier this evening, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had issued an advisory asking fishermen of Sindh to remain careful and “not to venture in the deep sea till June 4 due to rough sea conditions”.

“Severe Cyclonic Storm (SCS) Nisarga moved further north-eastward with [a] speed of 20km per hour during the last six hours and made landfall near south Gujarat-Maharashtra coast, India,” the advisory read.

Winning the bid

The agency that wins the bid for the ASP program in Pakistan will be expected to increase Facebook’s share of branding and performance media revenue. Social and digital media expenditure in Pakistan had been valued at $150 million by Magna in 2018.

Farmers Appreciate Being Recognized As The Unsung Heroes Of COVID-19 By Sarsabz

Farmers Appreciate Being Recognized As The Unsung Heroes Of COVID-19 By Sarsabz

While the nation reflects on the recovery process of the ongoing pandemic and appreciates the frontline fighters for their courage and resilience, Sarsabz lauds the ones combating on the invisible frontline who play an essential role in the provision of food to the whole country- the unsung heroes- our farmers. The video garnered 5.1k likes within a couple of days on Sarsabz’s Facebook page, which is followed mostly by the farmer community, and became an embodiment of their voice to recognize Sarsabz’s efforts in stretching an arm of support and encouragement to them.

Until now media coverage has focused on ‘essential workers’ getting the world through this time of insecurity, such as health workers, police and supermarket staff, but other unsung heroes who are at the first step of the food value chain need equal recognition as well. With COVID-19 cases rising and lockdowns extended in Pakistan, the impact on health and economy was felt rather much earlier on the food basket.

While many businesses ceased during nationwide lockdowns and a complete halt of transport services was observed, farmers and food producers kept working despite facing severe challenges. Like other frontline fighters, they too braced themselves to face these challenges and ensure food security for the nation by all means possible, and therefore should be duly recognized as the Food Heroes of Pakistan.

The video revolves around an innocent conversation of two kids who miss their fathers’ presence at the occasion of Eid who are away from their loved ones to fulfill their responsibilities of serving their country in their respective domains. The children see their parents as superheroes who have chosen a greater purpose over their own happiness and that of their families. The video aptly reframes our understanding of the invisible frontline and the essential role of farmers, being our unsung heroes in this crisis, for the provision of food to the whole country.

#Sarsabz ka salam hamaray mulk ke heroes ko! Apki mehnat ka shukriya! #SalamKissan

Posted by Sarsabz on Saturday, May 23, 2020

While on one hand erratic weather conditions resulting in untimely rains, and the threat of locust attacks pose great worries for the farmers, extended lockdowns have done no less in crippling their already poor economic conditions. Transport of perishable crops such as vegetables and fruits got affected the most and most of the farmers had to sell their produce at throwaway prices after being disconnected from nearby markets.

This was heart wrenching for many farmers since they had carefully worked this whole time on these crops in the hopes of fetching better returns on their harvesting. Wheat harvesting season also fell during this crisis and faced its own challenges. Even as safety and survival is considered a primary concern for a vast majority of population in Pakistan, the farmers have taken upon themselves to brace the storm and protect the nation from any possible food crisis by becoming the stewards of agriculture.

Sadly, many of us don’t realise that these farmers who represent the backbone of our economy are under immense unprecedented pressures while they shoulder the responsibility of feeding the nation. Nonetheless, it was refreshing to see Sarsabz recognising the need to appreciate the farmers in a fitting way on digital platforms to ensure that their message reaches out far and wide, as the whole nation is connected through social media under lockdown situation.

Sarsabz has always been vocal in support of farmers and has time and again introduced different assistance programs for them to help them increase their crop yield in order to uplift their economic conditions. The appreciation for the role of farmers in ensuring food security amid COVID-19 was a much needed step towards accepting them as one of the true unsung heroes in these testing times

5 Car Maintenance Mistakes You Must Do Your Best To Avoid!

common car maitainence mistakes

Car maintenance will not only keep your car safe and reliable, but it will also improve the resale value of your vehicle – saving you tons of money in the long run.

Be it you who maintains your car or a mechanic; there are rookie mistakes that need to be avoided!

Often, by making these mistakes lightly, we end up cutting our car’s life-span and increase the maintenance costs from our pockets.

Here are five car maintenance mistakes you must do your best to avoid!

1. Disregarding the Car Manual

The car manual has been printed for a reason. It’s that one book that can save you a lot of money from your pockets.

Neglecting the manual will lead you to make decisions that can also lessen your car’s life span.

From the engine to the name of the coolants, the manual can guide you through everything to help you have a smooth sail.

2. Driving While Low on Gas

low gas warning

A lot of new and experienced drivers are both unaware that driving when low on gas can result in problems.

What happens is that debris in settled in the bottom of the fuel tank. When the fuel is low, the rubble is mixed with the fuel, which is used to run the car.

That debris is then circulated within the engine and systems, eventually choking it, and it can result in complete engine failure in the long-run. Engine repairs are very costly, mainly depending on which car you own.

3. Not Changing Car Fluids Frequently

It is a widespread misconception that changing car fluids is not necessary and is a waste of time and money.

The reality is that these fluids keep your car cool, lubricated, and help it have a good engine.

You need to change your engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and others regularly. They are arguably more critical to your vehicle than fuel.

4. Not Keeping an Eye on Tire Pressure

Imagine you are on the highway, and the distance between you and your destination is far. All of a sudden you hear a pop, your tire has flattened!

This is because one of the daily tasks a driver needs to carry out is checking their tire pressure every other day so that they do not face this unexpected situation.

5. Using Your Car When Your Wheel Alignment Is Off

People often neglect wheel alignment, but it is a good practice to check your alignment every six months.

An improper wheel alignment will not only negatively impact the handling of your car but also cause avoidable wear and tear to your tires.

Which rookie mistakes do you often make?

The nation is buzzing after Pakistani actor Shahroz Sabzwari tied the knot for the second time with the model, Sadaf Kanwal. The news comes as a shock to many as it has just been a few months after his divorce with his ex-wife Syra was finalized.

We often see brands jump in trying to follow an ongoing trend to get the buzz going just for a kick or simply added publicity. The marketing term for this term is known as the ‘skyscraper technique.’

However, this time around, a popular pizza chain, ‘Broadway Pizza,’ has received immense backlash after posting a picture of Syra and Sadaf Kanwal, both eating a slice of Broadway pizza. It seems like the skyscraper technique has failed miserably for the brand this time!

Here’s what Broadway Pizza posted on their social media handles:

Our reaction after seeing this post or so-called ‘advertising’:

Broadway pizza takes a dig at Shahroz

Broadway Pizza says:

“Food for Thought: Let’s stop the judging and focus on the eating! Keep enjoying Broadway!”

It is ironic for the brand to ask people to stop judging when they’ve taken personal pictures of the actors and created a post targeted towards them!

The post did create quite a buzz over Instagram and Facebook; netizens were quite shocked as to how the creatives at Broadway Pizza would allow such a thing to happen.

Here’s what netizens have to say about the picture:

People believe that this marketing tactic was highly distasteful and unbelievable, coming from a reputable brand.

Others felt that Broadway Pizza should be looking for a new digital agency!

Some believed the post was highly unethical and immoral as it played with the emotions and personal matters of the personalities.

Syra Yousuf’s manager, Alizeh Jung, posted her two cents on Broadway’s Instagram post and mentioned how disrespectful the post was for both the families.

Pop Goddess, Cher thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for making her dreams come true. In a tweet, she says she has been a fan of him since his cricket days.

Being an animal rights campaigner, Cher was thrilled to learn the release of Kaavan, an Asian elephant from Islamabad Zoo chained up in substandard conditions.

WE HAVE JUST HEARD FROM, PAKISTAN HIGH COURT, KAAVAN IS FREE!

The 74-year-old Moonstruck star thanked IK and praised him for helping her release the elephant from the capital.

“I was a big fan of you when you played cricket @ImranKhanPTI. I always thought you seemed so kind. Thank you so much for your help. This is a dream come true,” she tweeted.

As the world is under lockdown, animals trapped and chained in Zoo’s just didn’t seem right to the pop star. She has been actively trying to spread awareness across the world.

Last month, the High Court in the capital city had ordered wildlife officials to seek advice from Sri Lanka. A ‘suitable sanctuary’ was supposed to be found for the animal within 30 days, tweeted the good people of Islamabad Zoo.

“The pain and suffering of Kaavan must come to an end by relocating him to an appropriate elephant sanctuary, in or outside the country”, the court-ordered.

June 3rd, 2020: Ride-hailing services in Pakistan have resumed operations as the provincial governments continue public transport.

The Punjab government decided to resume the services of Uber and Careem on May 15th, whereas the Sindh government has also agreed to return transport as SOPs were finalized on June 1st.

Careem, one of the most popular services within the country, has resumes operations. The company has issued a guideline for all passengers for all of their categories.

March 24th, 2020: Ride-hailing services have time and time again made our lives much more comfortable.

However, with Coronavirus on almost every curb in Pakistan and not to forget the 15-day lockdown in Sindh, these companies have decided to suspend their services temporarily.

The following are the ride-hailing services that have suspended operations:

Airlift

Airlift, ride-hailing service in Pakistan has temporarily suspended its services amid coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan. More than 200 cases have been reported in the region as of today.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared this a global pandemic with 8000+ deaths and over 180,000 confirmed cases. Public transports have been declared ‘high risk’ across the globe since it enables the spread of the virus.

Airlift took it to his Facebook to announce the suspension of its services from March 18th to April 6th.

“Given the rise of #COVID19 cases in Pakistan, Airlift has decided to act in the collective interest and suspend operations keeping in mind the health and safety of our passengers. Airlift aims to resume operations on April 6th, 2020.

Mass-transit is a high-risk medium that can enable the spread of the virus. We encourage our users to avoid using public transportation, to practice social distancing, and to take care of themselves. The Airlift team stands with you in these challenging times! #prevention #coronavirus ”

Careem has also decided to suspend its bus service on the government’s instructions temporarily. However, for those who need to travel, they will continue their other services across Pakistan.

Furthermore, the company has set instructions for both captains and riders for safety purposes. Nonetheless, travelers can expect a sharp shortage of cars and captains in their respective areas.

According to SWVL General Manager Shahzeb Memon, the company has installed hand-sanitizers in all of its buses and has cut down our number of buses to 50% as well as reduced the capacity of passengers by half.

As far as local busses are concerned, Irshad Bukhari, a representative of the transport association of Karachi, said: “We are proud of our services and they will not be suspended.”

To contain the spread of the virus, countries across the globe have rolled out a series of precautionary measures, including lockdown and widespread travel restrictions.

So, if you’re someone who displays symptoms of the deadly virus or you have been exposed to someone who might as well have been tested positive for COVID-19, you must self-quarantine.

Actor Uzma Khan Withdraws Case Against 3 Women & 15 Armed Guards!

uzma khan case

3rd June 2020: A video of three women (Riaz’s daughters Pashmina Malik and Ambar Malik, Amina Usman Malik, wife of Usman Malik), and 15 unidentified armed men who stormed into the residence of Uzma and Huma Khan went viral not too long ago.

In the video, violence and threat were visible to those who have watched it. However, according to the latest statement by Uzma Khan, it was a mistake and a misunderstanding.

A former member of Uzma’s legal team claims that both sides had reportedly reached a settlement leading to the withdrawal of charges, but there’s no official confirmation on this.

This news broke as Hassaan Niazi and Khadija Siddiqi, announced that they were dissociating themselves from the case.

This is to announce that we are disassociating from #UzmaKhan case. I understand the reasons of any settlement by two aggrieved women in a rigged system; my conscience doesn’t allow me to be part of any of that, even in a professional capacity,” Siddiqi said in a tweet.

Whereas Niazi tweeted:

“We understand our clients’ position, they wanted to get justice, but the system allows powerful aggressors to do as they please, with no accountability! I pray that a day will come when law is equal for all. Our fight for justice continues.”

Moreover, Niazi shared with a local news outlet that they had tried to reach Uzma Sunday night. Still, she neither responded to their calls and messages nor was she available when a member of Niazi’s team visited her at her residence.

The very next day, Niazi received a message from an unidentified person stating that Uzma and her sister have settled with the suspects.

However, on Friday, Uzma had later denied having cut a deal with the involved party. She added that these were just rumors and that no such effort was being made.

But, on Tuesday, she applied to Defence C Police, reading that the FIR lodged last week was “on the basis of a misunderstanding” and that she no longer wants to pursue it.

She said no challan had so far been submitted in the case. “I don’t want to give any testimony or deposition in the above-stated case,” Uzma added.

On the other hand, her sister Huma, in a separate statement, added that “no such occurrence” — a reference to the violence — had taken place at their house. [The] accused party has not made any torture upon me.”

According to Huma, she sustained her injuries, which are seen in the viral video, by falling on “glass from a table.”

She further said the suspects nominated in the FIR are “innocent.”

“My sister namely Uzma Khan got registered the instant FIR due to misunderstanding. Therefore, the same may very kindly be cancelled,” Huma added.

Just two days ago, Uzma shared a video of her on her official Twitter handle asking Prime Minister Imran Khan for help as her life, and her sister’s life was in danger.

1st June: Pakistani actress Uzma Khan has rolled out yet another video in which she has reached out to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Uzma claims that she is in Lahore, police officers are not cooperating with her and are not arresting Amber Malik, Amina, and Pashmina.

Moreover, she requested IG Punjab to meet her and said that her life is in danger. Uzma used the hashtag #ArrestAmberMalik in her tweet to make it a movement.

Watch the 2-minute long video below:

In the video, Uzma also claims that she has not taken a single Rupee as settlement money and wants justice.

28th May: A press conference was held at Lahore Press Club by Uzma Khan to present mind-boggling information. It was in regards to the ongoing dispute between the actress and Amna Usman Malik.

Uzma Khan’s conference didn’t go as planned!

It was complete chaos as people were not taking turns with the mic. It was astonishing to witness only three people in the room with masks on as the country has marked 60,000 + cases of coronavirus as of today.

Uzma Khan VeryFilmi

While addressing the media, Uzma claimed that Usman Malik was just a friend who had earlier approached her for marriage to which she had denied two years ago. Recently, he had again contacted the Jawani Phr Nahi Ani actress.

She highlighted that his wife never gave her any warnings, nor did the two parties ever meet.

The three women who vandalized Uzma’s house included two daughters of real estate tycoon, Malik Riaz. However, the actresses’ lawyer cleared that he is in no way involved.

The actresses said that Usman is still messaging her, which she will use as proof in the court.

Furthermore, the lawyer stated facts regarding a video clip being circulated on social media of Usman’s wife. The house she broke in with her armed guards doesn’t belong to Usman.

Sharmila Faruqi Gives A Savage Reply To People Supporting Amna’s Cheating Husband, Usman

A third party owns it, and Uzma has been renting the place. The lawyer further said that they are being threatened for the past three days. They need protection from the government of Pakistan.
