Surf Excel finally arrived as the #DaaghonKaChampion, removing all pesky stains in one go. The campaign reveal was made when snippets of newscasters and TV hosts were uploaded on Instagram, showing their struggle to remove the stain as it didn’t allow them to proceed with their segment.

After multiple removal attempts, they called out for a ‘champion’ where a Surf Excel branded tornado took over the screen, eradicating all stains in one go. Easy on Pocket and Heavy on Features – Our Midrange Favourites of 2020

In recent times, smartphones have become the main source of communication and infotainment for the consumers, enabling them to access the outside world around them. As the human-race was primarily dependent on these smart-devices, the users needed more powerful features, with complete reliability to maximize their productivity and usability.

Therefore, the leading producers and brands of digital devices, continue to create feature-rich smartphones, to enable and empower the consumers to ease into this new and unconventional lifestyle, where everyone must protect their own and the public’s health through social-distancing and hygienic living post-Covid-19. In these difficult times, innovative and resourceful telecommunication enterprises have provided the world with sustainable growth.

According to the evaluations of tech-analysts and experts, the most impressive smartphones with futuristic solutions that promise to fulfill the evolving needs and expectations of the masses, at affordable mid-range prices, include HUAWEI Y9a, Samsung Galaxy A51, OPPO Reno 3, Vivo S1 Pro and Realme 6.

HUAWEI Y9a (PKR 43,999/-)

The world’s leading smartphone producer – Huawei has once again established its leadership by introducing the most feature-rich device in the mid-range segment. It is enriched with the most advanced applications to exceed performance and functionality of all the competing products. It comes pre-installed with the HUAWEI AppGallery – Huawei’s official app marketplace, where the users can simply browse and download a constantly growing list of apps that they need.

As a global technology leader – Huawei continues to create fascinating experiences for the consumers promising great value-for-money, along with blazing performance and a sleek Halo Ring design – the Y9a device brings Huawei’s trendsetting flagship specs like; 64MP Hi-Resolution Quad-Camera, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage with 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge.

The 64MP Quad-Camera also features Night Mode, a 120° Wide Angle Photo-lens, AI beautification and EIS anti-shake technology. It comes with a pop-up selfie camera of 16MP lens and a 6.63 inch HUAWEI Ultra FullView Display. The latest EMUI 10.1 software update as standard, allows the most convenient usage.

While the Huawei devices no longer come with pre-installed Google services which may be a problem for some however with the Petal Search Widget users have access to more than a million apps at convenience.

Overall, the HUAWEI Y9a takes a lead in its category thanks to its flagship-like features such as a seamless viewing experience, powerful performance, brilliant camera setup and a very sleek looking design and build. Moreover, the 4200mAh large battery with the 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge technology gets 70% charge-up with only a 30-minutes charging session which is another major plus point. The HUAWEI Y9a is evidently the best device in this category, promising greater value for money with its unmatched features and globally proven quality and prestige.

Oppo Reno3: (PKR 46,999/-)

This midrange smart-device from OPPO does a pretty decent job when compared to the plethora of midrange devices currently available in the market.  The Reno3 runs on an 8GB RAM along with a 128GB Internal memory capacity.

It boasts a powerful camera system featuring a 48MP Main Camera with a 13MP Telephoto Lens, 2x Optical Zoom and 8MP Ultra Wide-angle Lens and a 44MP camera on the front is the front.

Key features of this smartphone include full HD video recording, a 6.4inch AMOLED display with a superpixel density. Additionally, the 4025 mAh battery along with 30W charging makes it good for heavy usage.

While the big battery, excellent display and a decent camera performance makes this a wholesome device – the downside is that the performance lacks for this price range. Instead of the Mediatek Helio P90 chipset, using Mediatek Helio G80 would have been a better choice to provide faster gaming to complement the battery power.

Samsung Galaxy A51 (PKR 49,999/-)

Samsung Galaxy A51 is another popular smartphone packed with the latest Exynos 9611 chipset, a quad-camera setup and a 6.5inch AMOLED display paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM (extendable).

The Galaxy A51 has a 48MP primary sensor with a 12MP wide-angle lens, a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture along with a 5MP macro sensor and LED flash. The device runs on an Android 10 operating System out-of-the-box and is powered by a 4000 mAh battery. It has an Octa-core CPU and Mali-G72 MP3 GPU along with OneUI2.0 User-Interface.

This smartphone also offers all the standard features found in this category of devices, to deliver quality info-tainment for the consumers of all ages. The design and display are the strongest features of this device, however the camera can be weak in delivering sumptuous results. The in-screen fingerprint scanner also lags in unlocking faster and overall considering the competition in this price range that offer stronger features – the A51 could have stood out more if it was priced less.

Vivo S1 Pro (PKR 39,999/-)

Vivo S1 Pro is another good contender in this category with a comparatively lower price. It offers an 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It is a powerful handset with a good selfie camera. Vivo’s S1 Pro comes with Snapdragon 665 chipset, (Octa-Core CPU and Adreno 610 GPU) that is also used by global technology giants.

The device has a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED notch-less display screen, with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and slim bezels. On the back, it has a Quad-Camera setup, with a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP Ultra-wide angle lens and a 2MP third sensor along with a 2MP depth sensor, LED Flash and many other features. On the front, it has an impressive 32MP selfie-sensor with a pop-up feature along with a 4500 mAh Li Po non-removable battery.

While this device is priced the most attractively offering features like a vibrant AMOLED display and a premium-looking design, the rear-camera is mediocre and doesn’t work well in low-light. Moreover, in a world of Type C ports, the MicroUSB 2.0 Charging Port also feels outdated.

Realme 6 (PKR 36,999/-)

Realme is another emerging brand that doesn’t have a long legacy in the technology sector, however, its smartphones are gradually gaining popularity in Pakistan. The realme 6 is a great product featuring 8GBRAM and 128GB internal storage.

This decent quality smartphone line is equipped with a Penta Lens Camera Setup, with five different lenses and several other exciting features. It has a Quad Camera including: a 64MP and an 8MP lens, along with a 2MP depth camera and a 2MP B/W, and an LED Flash. Its front-facing camera also boasts a powerful 16MP lens.

Its performance is powered by the Mediatek Helio G90 chipset, an Octa-core CPU and a Mali G76 MC4 GPU. It has a 6.5-inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It runs on a 4300 mAh Li-Po Non-removable battery that can be charged quickly due to the 30W Fast Charging feature.

Overall while the device offers high resolution, good performance and long battery life – the camera department can be bumped up on the quality with crisper results and a lot of improvement in the video recording feature.

Rihanna Under Fire For Using Islamic Hadith During A Fashion Show

Rihanna, the renowned singer turned business mogul and now, fashion designer, has come under fire for the worst of reasons. It is unbelievable to see what she used as the backdrop in her lingerie show!

Savage x Fenty Lingerie Show

Her lingerie show also spread like wildfire with models all dripping in Swarovski, diamonds and laces. However, only later the truth about the show came to light.

The song that Rihanna had chosen to be played in the back is one that contained Islamic Hadith. Yes, you heard that right.

The Song That Should Be Condemned

The song at the heart of Rihanna’s lingerie show is called “Doom”. It had been created by a London based producer named Coucou Chloe over more than two years ago. The song allegedly has vocal samples from Hadith that talk about the end of times and judgment day.

The song basically picked up a video of a scholar in which these Hadith are being explained. She then proceeded to use them in the beats to create a song she believed would be great. The verses that are picked up and mixed in the beat are those that explain the signs of the Day of Judgement.

Appropriating Islam and Islamophobia

This action has far-reaching consequences. It shows how common Islamophobia has become in the western world. The song was released OVER two years ago yet it was just swept under the rug. Did you know about this song before this controversy? We didn’t!

The Hadith are sacred words of the Prophet that are invaluable for the believers. Moreover, they are second only to the Quran. For someone, no matter how famous or powerful, to use such an integral part of our religion and play it like this is unacceptable.

Rihanna has also appropriated Islam: using a feature integral to the religion to use for a different purpose in hers.

Rihanna’s History

rihanna lingerie show

Rihanna is furthermore being criticised on another thing she had done in the past. The 32-year-old is being heavily criticised on also when her models were directed to wear a cloth on their head which resembled hijab a lot. For a hijab to be used as a prop is also ridiculing Islam.

The purpose of hijab is to inculcate modesty and simplicity in our lives. For that to be used for a lingerie brand is straight-up disrespectful.

Muslims Unite

Muslims, especially the younger generation, are gathering to say that our religion is not someone’s aesthetic. And, we don’t get to be called dramatic because what has been disrespected is too huge.

Yikes! HEC Just Issued A List Of Fake And Illegal Universities

HEC released list of Illegal Universities

Education is not to be taken lightly. It determines the foundation of a society. The jaws of illiteracy have gripped nation after nation. Whole economies have collapsed due to illiteracy. Pakistan is a developing country. It is still coming to terms with the importance of education. The body that governs Pakistan’s education system is known as HEC. It stands for the ‘Higher Education Commission.’ Recently, HEC issued a list. The list contained names of Illegal universities in Pakistan. Why don’t we dive into the details of this shocking news?

HEC Recognized University

Why is registration important?

HEC recognizes any institute which is registered by it. This ensures that the staff is qualified to teach. It also ensures that the financial works of the institute are not shady.

The writer of this article recalls an institute by the name of ‘Dadabhoy Institute of Higher education.’ This place was established in 2003. Then, two campuses were banned by HEC some years later. Shady deals were being conducted within the hierarchy. Thus, this educational establishment is now ‘Black Listed.’

Anyone who enrolls in this institute is only digging a grave for themselves. Companies don’t hire people if they don’t have a credible background.

Dadabhoy HEC Universities

What was released?

So, what is the big news? Why is there so much mention of ‘HEC’ recently? This is because their list highlights universities running unregistered. It also highlights which ones are illegally built. Often, it is discovered that the financial foundations are fine. However, there have been instances where the land has been illegally acquired.

Students have been warned to not enroll in these universities. If they do, their degree will not be recognized. Some institutes in Sindh include American World University International, American School of London. That last one is raising red flags all over. “American” school of “London”? Come on!

In Punjab, the Michigan International College in Lahore has been exposed. Preston University’s Faisalabad Campus has been deemed Illegal too. Overall, there are nearly over 180 institutes that have made this list.

HEC has also released a list of recognized institutes. This can provide safe passage for fresh college graduates. However, it does raise questions. What will happen to students already enrolled? Will they be allowed to work after graduation? Them enrolling before this incident does not make them incapable. Maybe there is a way to assign them courses before they can work. This can ensure that anything they learned was not wasted.

Future of Education in Pakistan?

So, where do we go from here? The universities are running, but for how long? There has to be a solution to get rid of them. If not that, we must come up with a way to get them registered. We have to keep hope for education in Pakistan.

We cannot move forward if we’re still tangled in such places. This step by HEC is quite significant. It informs students were not to apply. By filtering out the unregistered, they may have highlighted more options. They may have paved a path to gaining a recognized degree. Let us hope not to encounter any more Illegal Universities!

However, when it finally does, you’ll be one of the first few to experience it in all its glory. When talking about size, the screen of S20+ is slightly bigger than S20, sitting at a fancy 6.7″ (inches).

The S20+ is nearly an ounce heavier than the S20 and features the same kind of camera. This is a phone fit for those who wish to experience Samsung Flagship, but with a little more. One more advantage this phone has over the S20 is that it contains more battery power. With the S20 at 4000maH, the S20+ has a capacity of 4500maH. This means that the phone can easily run for 48 hours. Whether it is the S20 or S20+, there is no compromise on RAM or Storage.

S20 Ultra (The Beast):

This is the ultimate step-up from the initial S20. Despite having the same processor, its prime advantage is due to its camera. Where S20 and S20+ house 12+64+12 features, the S20 ultra offers a camera of 108+48+12. A Hundred and Eight Megapixels! Forget about getting DSLRs; this camera is the future of mobile photography. Even in terms of screen size, its bigger than the S20+, with a 6.9″ display. Not just this, it offers an upgrade in RAM from 12GB to 16GB. S20+ has 8GB RAM. Battery power increases even more as the S20 ultra comes with a 5000maH capacity. This is the equivalent of a low-range power bank! The S20 Ultra is a force to be reckoned with. Of course, this phone also supports 5G technology.

Social Media User Calls Out PEMRA For Overlooking Vulgar Content!

Social Media User Calls Out PEMRA For Overlooking Sexual Content!
PC: New International

While content has changed and has become influenced by modern times, many writers bring brilliant material, and some bring nothing but garbage. However, in Pakistan, it is the responsibility of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to ensure nothing goes on air that wasn’t supposed to.

A social media user is calling out PEMRA for allowing vulgar content air on national television. Those who have watched ‘Churails’ may remember it at the back of their head.

The story is about 4 women who start a business to catch cheating husbands red-handed. Throughout the series, a girl from their team goes missing.

They find out that the missing girl was to become an ambassador for a beauty product in the process. One of the ‘Churails’ confronts another character about the missing girl.

During the intense conversation, the woman talks about the hard work and compromises and sacrifices she had to put into reaching where she is today.

She mentions that she had to give a man who was almost twice her age sexual pleasure to get to where she is.

The woman adds that she had no choice; it was either do please her bosses or pack up and go back to her hometown, which she would have never returned to.

However, social media was not pleased with the fact that the woman boldly claimed to have performed sexual acts to get a good job and a handsome salary.

Social Media User Calls Out PEMRA

However, many individuals corrected the user that the show is a web-series and was never aired on national television.

They also added that PEMRA has no jurisdiction over such content shown via an international broadcaster.

But, this is not the first time PEMRA was brought into such a debate. The authority has been questioned many times before as well on the kind of content aired on television.

4 Pro Tips To Help You In Your Pandemic Job Hunt

Pandemic job hunt

A pandemic job hunt is what most people are occupied with these days. Unfortunately, either some have been laid off, some recently graduated, and find their prospects low, or some just want to be productive from home.

If you’re anyone of these, you need to keep reading our tips to land a job. With the right amount of determination, focus, and knowledge, landing an appointment will be an easy feat even during a pandemic.

1. Update Your Social Media Profiles

Recruiting nowadays is heavily focused online, and recruiters make use of the applicant’s social media profiles to judge. Now you don’t have the luxury of making an impression in-person looking great and speaking fluently.

They say a picture says a thousand words, and that is more true now than ever. If your Instagram profile is public, remove photos that can be controversial. Your Facebook most likely is open so make sure it’s clean from irresponsible or contradictory posts.

Make yourself look dedicated, put-together, and professional. Also, make sure to make an account on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is an American business and employment-oriented online service that operates via websites and mobile apps.

2. More Skills Up Your Sleeve

update your resume for pandemic job hunt

This is the perfect time to learn complementary skills that can give you an edge in any field. For instance, if you’re interested in marketing, then having graphic designing skills will provide you with an edge. If you’re into accounting, learning Excel properly or coding can give you an edge. This can make you stand out in a crowd of people.

What’s interesting is that all these courses are being offered for free on many sites. You have all the time in the world currently and also don’t need to finance your learning heavily. Make use of free time, utilize it, and update your CV or resume.

3. Research Particular Industries

A man trying to work online

There are many industries right now that are booming thanks to the pandemic. Consider the medical industry, the news industry, digital platforms, etc. All these are still going on as usual, if not better, and you can take advantage of that. Moreover, schools are still teaching, so if you have experience with teaching, that’s a viable option.

Research industries that are booming and focus your pandemic job hunt there.

4. Don’t Take Online Interviews Lightly

Most interviews are now being conducted online. If you’re on a pandemic job hunt, you need to brush up your online interview skills. Giving an interview from behind a screen can ease you and make you feel like it’s no big deal. However, we all know an interview can make it or break it.

Tidy up your look, have zero distractions, be more professional, and learn online communication cues. As opposed to in-person, being more sophisticated is easier on call, but only if you learn how to. Don’t miss out on these tips.

Reduce Risk Of Breast Cancer: 5 Healthy Habits One Should Follow

breast cancer

It is October so you know it is the Breast Cancer Awareness month. But it is a phenomenon that needs to be in check all year and not just in October, especially since it is treatable. And if you do have this illness in your family, prevention is obviously better than cure. So, here are a few healthy habits that you can incorporate in your lifestyle that aid in reducing the risk of breast cancer.

1. Overweight

Overweight and obese women are more likely to have breast cancer, compared to women on the slender side. The logic behind this is that fat cells release estrogens and higher the estrogens, higher the risk. So keep your body weight in check. Now, it does not mean that you start an extreme diet. That is wrong too, you know. Instead of going to extra lengths on either case, get to know what is your personalised body mass index. Maintain your weight according to that.

2. Exercise!

Physical exercise is scientifically known to significantly reduce breast cancer risks. In meta-analysis research, the researchers concluded that every two hours of moderate exercise per week reduces the risk from 3 to 5%. So get up from your couch, put a pause on that Netflix for 20 minutes a day, which is not too much either, and start light or moderate exercise. It will do you good in the long run.

Not just breast cancer, it will also help you avoid heart diseases.

3. Meat? No!

You may have heard that red meat can give you illnesses. You haven’t heard wrong. Red meat is bad, especially for women considering it increases the probability of breast cancer. And this has been confirmed by studies as well.

So skip red meat and shift to fish. Fish had Omega-3 fatty acid. The nutrients from it help reduce the risk of breast cancer.

4. Don’t Smoke

Smoking not only yellows the teeth, gives you smelly breath, and gives you lungs cancer, but it can also give you breast cancer. Due to the societal norms, women may not be smoking in larger numbers but unfortunately, society normalizes men smokers. Being in an environment where others smoke regularly is equally bad. So figure out a lifestyle that minimizes your being exposed to cigarettes, period.

breast cancer

5. Birth control pills

Birth control pills work in combination with the woman’s age. Once women start consuming birth control pills, the risk for breast cancer rises. But if women are of a younger age group, the moment they stop taking the pill, the risk goes down. But long term use of the pill can lead to permanent consequences such as colon cancer and breast cancer. So basically cut down on the pills.

These are just a few tips and habits you can adopt in your life. And hopefully, be able to avoid cancer altogether. But the moment you doubt you might have it, go to the professionals and get diagnosed. Do not delay it for it can be deadly.

90-Year-Old Woman Goes To SC To Ask For Her Haq Meher!

haq meher

Haq Meher remains one of the clauses in the Nikkahnama that people turn a blind eye to, perhaps because men have to pay it rather than getting it. After all, if it was the latter, we all know how necessary the clause would be.

A 90-Year-Old Woman Has Had Enough

Meet Sarah Sultan, who at the age of 90, is having to make rounds to several courts and lawyers to get something that is her right as a Muslim wife. It has been 75 odd years to her marriage, and in all of these seven and a half decades, her Haq Meher was not awarded to her.

In her nikkahnama, the Haq Meher is a 3 Kanal and ten marla area of land. In all of her time as a married woman, her husband has not fulfilled his word.

The case has been pending in various courts since 1970. Moreover, her husband has also bribed people to construct fake reports that show that he has fulfilled her right. Now, she has filed for an appeal in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

As if all this was not enough, Saeedah’s husband also had reports admitted into the court asking for her seizure.

The Nikkahnama, Scratch Out What You Please

It is common knowledge that, more often than not, when the official document of the Nikkahnama is being filled, families interfere. More for the women than for the men, of course.

The family of the groom often asks the bride to cut the “useless” parts. These parts are those in which the wife has the right to set whatever conditions she wants for her husband.

What It Should Be

The Haq Meher, Islamically, should be asked according to the affordability of the groom. For example, if the groom is wealthy, then as a bride, you should not be coerced into asking for the minimum amount and vice versa. The point is that the bride and groom decide on it together, which the groom then fulfills.

Remember, if your Haq Meher is not fulfilled, then you can take this up in the courts of Pakistan. Enhance your knowledge today about what the Nikkahnama offers women, so you’re never in a compromised position.

Saeedah Sultan is one of the women who have the ability and means to take into the court. Many neither know that they can nor can seek legal help.

VU Admissions 2020: Here’s Everything You Need To Know

Admissions

Online education has proved its worth ever since most countries were placed under lockdown due to COVID. Many brick and mortar universities had to shift to an online model, and it has still not been easy to adapt. And given that COVID’s second wave is almost here, Pakistan is predicted to go back under lockdown. In such a scenario, getting admissions to virtual universities is your best bet to get the top-notch education level.

The Virtual University of Pakistan (VU) is among the top 3 virtual universities in the country. The others being Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and COMSATS. We have already spent some time on AIOU, and we will take a look at COMSATS in our upcoming articles. But for now, we will take a look at the admissions process of VU.

VU admissions

Listing down the process

The process begins with the online applications. They do not accept paper-based applications, so you have to apply through their website. While filling out applications, make sure that your personal information such as name, father’s name, and date of birth are exactly as available on the matriculation certificate. Please pay attention to the accuracy of the CNIC because you might not be able to change it later.

You will also have to mention the credentials and information in the academic qualifications section as per your academic documents. They include the roll number, registration number, marks, and of course, the pass out year.

Attachments to the admissions application

You will also have to add some attachments to the application. They include your photographs (according to the specifications they require) and the academic documents. The scans should be clear and legible. Recheck everything before applying. It is essential because incomplete applications will be straightaway rejected. The rejected applicants will have to get a new prospectus serial number to apply again.

admissions

Please note that you cannot change it once you select the virtual university campus and submit the application.

Things to Note

So aspiring students, the first step you need to do is to purchase the prospectus and scratch the serial code. VU accepts application with the prospectus serial number and its scratch code. However, if the applicant cannot get access to the prospectus, in that case, they will have to pay a PKR 500 voucher. They will also be required to upload the paid copy to the application.

The admissions have been open since August 23rd and will remain open until October 15th, so there is no time to waste. The MS-CS applicants will have to appear for the entrance test held on October 18th. The merit list will start to be published from October 21st, and the last of it will be uploaded by October 30th. Classes will commence from November 2nd. So it’s going to be a race against time. If you are really passionate about it, I suggest you get a move on it.

Social Media Sensation ‘Chai Wala’ Arshad Khan Is Now A Cafe Owner!

arshad khan chai wala
PC: twitter

They say that social media’s power is truly unpredictable; it can make or break people and that too within mere seconds. The powerful tool has turned some of the most influential and biggest people into nothing, and ordinary people into stars overnight!

Pakistan also has several individuals who have gained stardom or have turned into ashes because of social media and fellow countrymen. One such story of success is none other than ‘Chai Wala’ Arshad Khan.

Khan was an ordinary boy working at a tea stall until one day, one of the customers snapped a picture of the lad and posted it on social media. Soon, an entire buzz around the boy’s beauty and looks started to kick-off. He became soo popular within just hours of the photo being posted that brands even started to give him contacts to model for them.

Although Arshad Khan has not been actively seen on social media platforms, people still remember him and keep tabs around what their favorite internet sensation is up to nowadays.

Khan went viral for his gorgeous looks; he soon became a model, starred in a music video, and is now a proud owner of his very own cafe! Although we haven’t seen much on Khan lately, the businessman has been busy establishing his own brand, Cafe Chai Wala.

PC: Twitter

He says that he was just ordinary Arshad Khan before the internet turned him into Chai Wala, which is now a part of his identity. Arshad Khan’s Chai Wala cafe is inspired by truck art and has a beautiful and vibrant interior. From the chairs to the decorations and aesthetics, everything has been themed in a very desi manner to give the cafe a touch of culture.

Khan says that he is acting as well and has recorded a few episodes of the show he is currently working on. He says that the cafe is his pride, and we all can clearly see that the young and very talented man has come a long way from where he was and still has a beautiful journey ahead.

Chai Wala also says that currently, he is in the midst of making an organization that will help those children who can’t afford to go to school. The institution will help them learn important skills so that they can survive in this tough day-to-day life.

You can watch what Arshad Khan, aka Chai Wala, is up to in this clip below:

Once again, Khan is an example that if you work hard and keep at it, you can touch the sky, and nothing will be able to hold you down once an ordinary tea maker at a small stall is now a cafe owner!

We hope to see social media being used for such amazing success stories in the upcoming years. Kudos to Khan and those who have not let their financial issues get in the way of their dreams!

To above and beyond.

5 Pakistani Actors Who Are Trying Too Hard To Impress The Viewers

5 Pakistani Actors Who Are Trying Too Hard To Impress The Viewers

Pakistani dramas have a huge fan following in the country as well as abroad. Dramas have introduced many new actors who have represented the country internationally. Many celebrities have a massive fan following of their own. These celebrities include the likes of Mahira Khan, Aiman Khan, Fawad Khan, Hania Amir, etc.

However, there are some Pakistani actors who, despite all their efforts, could not gain viewership. This is not because they are not skilled actors but perhaps because of their unwillingness to explore their creative boundaries and being typecast as the damsel in distress and traditional hero.

Here are some of the Pakistani actors who have been trying hard to impress the viewers:

1. Muneeb Butt

Muneeb Butt began his acting career in 2012 with an ARY Digital drama called Bandi. Since then, Muneeb Butt has acted in many dramas and a couple of films. Both of his movies, Halla Gulla and Ishq 2020, couldn’t gain any success at all. Additionally, not many of his dramas received fame and fortune.

2. Danish Taimoor

View this post on Instagram

Have a nice Sunday everyone..

A post shared by Danish Taimoor (@danishtaimoor16) on

Danish Taimoor has worked in numerous dramas since the beginning of his career. He married Ayeza Khan in 2014. In 2015, his first film Jalaibee was released. He then said in an interview that he would not work in dramas anymore.

It was because he believed that dramas and films should have separate casts and no one would pay to see an actor in a movie when they can see him on TV. However, when Pakistani films didn’t do well, he made a comeback in dramas in 2018.

3. Agha Ali

Agha Ali hails from a show business family. Not only that, his father and grandfather are actors; he is also the nephew of Waseem Abbas and cousin of Ali Abbas. In addition to being an actor, Agha Ali is also a singer who has sung OSTs of many dramas.

Agha Ali has worked in many dramas. However, he has failed to gain viewership due to being cast in similar roles in all of his work. Agha Ali plays the typical playboy usually.

4. Hina Altaf

Like her husband, Agha Ali, Hina Altaf has also been trying hard to impress viewers since her debut. She has worked in many dramas; however, her most notable one is the 2016 drama Udaari. In Udaari, she played the role of a teenage Zebo. Despite her acting skills, Hina Altaf has not played anything other than the stereotypical Pakistani drama characters.

5. Saboor Aly

Saboor Aly began her acting career in 2011. Since then, she has worked in many television dramas and a couple of films. She has played villainous roles as well as the damsel in distress kind of characters, but still, she has been trying hard to get viewers’ attention. The audience has recognized not much of her work.

What do you think about these actors and which actors do you think are trying too hard to impress the viewers? Let us know in the comments below.

Top 5 Worst Driving Habits Pakistani Drivers Need to Avoid!

Worst Driving Habits
Credits: zeroto60times

Driving is comfortable for some, for others, not so much. You may have been asked time and time again, what makes a good driver? Is it the car? The experience?

Well, the reality is no matter how good a driver is, there are times when even the best of the best make mistakes.

Sometimes, enthusiasts don’t even realize when the deed has been done!

1. Not Using Indicators

Car Indicator
Credits: DriveSpark

One of the terrible habits almost every other driver in Pakistan has is not using the indicator! Indicators help the person behind you as well as in front of you know where you wish to turn or switch lanes. This helps in the prevention of crashes by sudden movement. Unfortunately for many of us become victims to it and end up with casualties at times.

2. Sudden Braking

Slamming the brakes
Credits: carolinebergeron

Another nasty habit of Pakistani drivers includes the urge to slamming the brakes without warning! Often, the driver behind finds themselves slammed into the back of the driver’s car. This is something we all have witnessed or experienced at least once in our lives.

3. Rough Driving

Rough Driving

Just because you see an empty road, that doesn’t permit you to play a game of Need for Speed acting like ‘daddy owns the road.’ We all know pedestrians, like the ghosts in Pac-Man, appear out of nowhere to spook the living hell out of us! Too bad there aren’t dots around.

4. Honking at the Wrong Place at the Wrong Time

Honking

Every other driver thinks their car, or at least the vehicle of the person in front of them is Pegasus, you the know the horse with wings that magically fly itself out of a traffic jam! Well, welcome to reality, cars can’t fly, not yet that is, and traffic jams are a part of our everyday routine, learn to live with it!

5. Save the Gossips for the Tea

Wurrly

Families love to gossip, dance, have fun, especially on a road trip. However, this can easily divert the driver’s concentration from off the road! Passengers need to understand the importance of giving a particular environment to the driver. And instead of ignoring it and letting passengers do what they want, one should learn to speak up.

6. Bonus: Using Phones While Driving

texting and driving

I don’t know about you guys, but I would like to see myself enjoying the beach-side with my loved ones about 20 years down the line. For this to happen, you need to stop texting/calling and driving, or else I can windup under your car. If not me, then someone’s child, mother, sibling, or grandparent may.

Countless times it has been warned that if you want to use your phone that badly, park on the side, get on with your business, and then get back in the car. Do not risk another person’s life for a text message that could have waited.

What other dangerously annoying habits do drivers have? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

10 Times Brands Turned Savage With Fans & Foes

brands

Through social media, we see catfights happening every single day. If it’s not Meesha Shafi going after Sadaf Kanwal, it’s probably Reham Khan going after the entire universe.

Although we don’t know these famous people personally, witnessing a brawl on social media between our beloved celebs is always interesting.

Celebrities and influential personalities are not the only ones making social media interesting for us. We have these popular brands who do not sit idle when they are being roasted on social media. Let’s be honest, it’s 2018… everyone has to maintain a good social media presence if you want to sustain, and the brands we are about to mention in this article, they mean business!

So here’s a list of brands with their savage social media responses that prove they are the biggest trolls on social media.

  1. Here’s how Careem managed to hit two birds with one stone

Twitter – Careem

2. Wendy’s throwing some fire at McDonald’s so they can cook their frozen patties

3. Stupid question by Old Spice. We don’t blame the response!

4. OPTP Pakistan trolling haters like a boss!

OPTP – FB

What we need to mention here is that OPTP was severely criticized by digital publications and everyone else on social media for their rude social media replies. Let’s not forget, we take everything too seriously in our country.

5. This is what happens when you ask Wendy’s for advice

6. What a roast by Royal Mall

7. Can’t tell if they’re being sassy or just wanted to give better advice

8. Maybe, Kris Jenner should design accessories for Staples instead!

Celebrity mom, Kris Jenner, tweeted a photo of “Kris Jenner Signature Collection Elegance Pearl Necklace” which looked like it was made of paper clips and pearls. Staples, a Canadian office supply retail chain, clearly didn’t leave the chance to troll her with their clever tweet.

9. When K-Electric Won The Internet With its Public Service Message

Sharmila Faruqi’s Twitter rant badly backfired!

10. Last but not the least, Espresso Pakistan’s distasteful message that landed them in hot waters

FB – Espresso

We have added this particular example to let you know that there’s a difference in being creative and rude. In an attempt of being sarcastic, Espresso Pakistan cashed on a child’s death for their marketing campaign. A 9-year-old boy died after being run by a vehicle during a rally of former PM Nawaz Sharif. In the extremely poor taste, Espresso posted the ad above on their Facebook Page. Though the cafe might not have intended to mock a child’s death, it failed horribly, enraging users on social media.

Later, the coffee shop issued an apology:

FB – Espresso

We don’t want to end this post on a serious note, so here’s a request:

Please follow Meera Jee on Twitter. Her Twitter handle is @TheMeeraJee. Please follow and support her Twitter account.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, here’s the reference video:

Coming back to the topic, if you have any more savage responses by brands to add to the list above, let us know with your comments.

LUX Style Awards

Karachi: The LUX Style Awards office announced nominations in 28 categories this week for the year 2019. Nominations in the categories of Fashion, Film, Music, and Television were announced for the 19th LUX Style Awards.

Due to the pandemic, the voting with the jurors for the four categories was conducted online, and overseen by auditors, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC).

Earlier this year, the LUX Style Awards team had announced a postponement of the annual event and pledged to support those in the entertainment and fashion industry impacted the most by the on-going pandemic. LSA redirected show funds and partnered with the Akhuwat Foundation, to support the impacted members of these industries.

Asima Haq,  Director, Beauty and Personal Care at Unilever Pakistan says,

Conceived 20 years ago as a platform focused on celebrating and promoting the entertainment and fashion industries of the country, the LUX Style Awards are considered the epitome of glamour in Pakistan. Earlier this year, we took a call to redirect funds to support those who have worked tirelessly to make LSA the legacy that it is today. Through this decision, we were able to support some of the groups in the entertainment industry that were worst impacted by the pandemic.

However, keeping up with the LSA vision of honoring and recognizing exceptional work in the fields of fashion, music, television and drama, we will be awarding the coveted LSA trophies to the winners this year.”

The LUX Style Awards is an annual event held to honor the best in the fields of Fashion, Film, Music, and television. The winners for the 19th LUX Style Awards will be announced in a befitting virtual ceremony later this year.

Pakistani Cop Wins ‘Best Police Officer of Asia’ Award by UN

Pakistani Officer wins Award

Sometimes, one comes across people who dedicate their lives to a singular purpose. They dedicate towards a goal. Many times, this goal is something that they consider immensely bigger than themselves. You see the passion in their eyes as they work towards their goal. They stop at nothing to achieve what they set out to do. When asked, their philosophy is based on a simple principle ‘If not me, then who?’ Dedicated and Sincere Police Officers are examples of such people. Being the bearer of good news, the writer of this article puts forth an achievement: A Pakistani Cop Wins ‘Best Police Officer of Asia’ Award by UN!

Pakistani Officer Award

Acts of Valor:

A question may arise in one’s mind: So, what did he do to earn this accolade? If putting it in the simplest of terms, we can say that he did exactly what he had set out to achieve. This honorable police officer, Sajjad Khan, is the superintendent of police from the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He is being recognized for his services and duty as a Legal Liaison Officer in Kosovo. Kosovo is a partially recognized state and disputed territory southeastern Europe.

As the title suggests, a Legal Liaison Officer serves as a mediator between two parties. They often also act as negotiators and assist in fostering better relationships between two parties. They try and understand the various points of view of different people and figure out the best method of optimization of any given situation. The officer, as mentioned above conducted investigations of many different cases of persecution. This said persecution involved being against Muslims. He has also investigated other criminal cases in the international court of justice. Can we imagine the amount of courage it takes to defend the innocent? It is not an easy task and must not be regarded as such.

UN Award

A Bit of his history:

This distinguished officer had represented Pakistan in the UN peacekeeping mission. This was between the years  2009 – 2012. During the time, he was deployed as the team leader of Kosovo’s capital, Pristina. Rewinding slightly further back, he also served as an Interpol Investigation Officer from 2007 to 2008. His work accomplishments do not stop here. He also served three times as Interpol legal liaison officer and Admin and logistics officer.

These are no small accomplishments in the duration of his life. He even mentioned in a Pakistani newspaper about how hard it was for him. He says that performing policing duties was a challenge when he began in 2003. His history only makes him more deserving of the accolade. He deserves it, and we pride in this Pakistani for getting that award.

Selfless Acts:

We must acknowledge the lingering fact that there are real-life heroes. When asked, they probably will not regard themselves as heroes because that is a title the people give them. Heroes don’t think about themselves because what they are fighting for is more significant than them. They hold their heads high when they run face-first into danger. It is not because of some misplaced sense of morality. Instead, it is a well-placed sense of doing the right thing.  Pakistani receiving this Award is an achievement on its own.

Our heartiest gratitude towards Sajjad Khan for all that he has done. We hold our heads high in pride for his work. He has undoubtedly gone above and beyond the call of duty. (Pun Intended)
