3. “Conversations” Widgets For Details:

Is iPhone 13 Getting an Android Feature?

Android has a great user-friendly feature called Always-On Display (AOD). This feature allows the phone to keep its battery from draining while letting the user see the latest on their phone. Be it time, missed calls, messages or other notifications, all the critical information is available to view.

What sets this apart? It’s the fact that the phone is not completely on yet it keeps collecting your information. By doing so, it can keep you up to date on all the essentials to know without you losing your battery. So is Apple succumbing? A little bird has told the tech industry that Apple might be getting this feature.

The Who and What of the Feature

The rumour comes from EverythingApplePro’s Max Weinbach. He believes that Apple’s version of AOD would be a “toned-down lock screen.” (Try as much as you want Apple, but this feature has Samsung written all over it!)

Weinback further explained that it would have some amount of customizability, showing notifications via bar and icons. Moreover, notifications would pop up as normal, but the screen wouldn’t light up in turn. Instead, the display would show something similar to what we have now, though a bit dimmer and “only temporarily.”

Apple’s Problems

As much as we love iPhones, their batteries are a huge issue. With every notification, the phone keeps lighting up and draining the battery. A solution of that has been to keep the phone face-down. However, that leads to that part gathering all the bacteria from the surface and transferring to your face when you put it on. Hello, blemishes!

Critics Weigh In

Weinbach believes that the iPhone 13 version of AOD will take a much more minimal approach. After all, it has to distinguish itself.

It is an interesting feature no doubt and could reduce iPhone problems a lot. However, this rumour is yet to be confirmed by Apple authorities. Whether AOD will get Apple-ized or not, tech critics and experts believe that Apple is working on something similar. The iPhone 13 is said to be revolutionary and this feature might just take it to the next level.

Why Is Nissan No Longer Interested In The Apple Car Project?

[Update]: Nissan had expressed interest in the Apple Car project after the talks with Hyundai fell through. The project would have been an initiative by the tech company, Apple, to venture into the auto industry, by making an Electric car. But after Hyundai, Nissan has also backed out of it.

As per the speculations, the tech giant wants to make sure that the car is called ‘Apple Car’. And, the auto companies find it degrading because due to the name of the project, their presence in it seems like that of a hardware supplier. As a result, other car manufacturers are also scared of becoming involved in the project because they think they will only be a side player in a story where Apple is the protagonist.

There was news about Apple Inc willing to invest in the electric vehicles market. The American-based global tech giant has no prior experience in building electric cars but has been focusing on expanding its expertise and collaborate with the well-reputed giants of other industries and integrate its technology into a joint venture.

Apple And The Collaboration With Hyundai Which Could Not Go Through

Despite everything, Apple does not have the experience to manufacture cars. To tackle this issue, the company intended to collaborate with South Korean multi-national car manufacturer, Hyundai which could not be proceeded as the company was focused on releasing its own range of smart cars called “Ioniq” whose new car named “Ioniq 5” is expected to release soon.

Apple And The Collaboration With KIA Motors:

As per rumors, Apple then had talks with KIA Motors, which Hyundai also owns, and even expressed an interest to invest $3 Billion. The report published online lead to a surge in the share price of KIA, which got to the highest price after a 14.7% increase since 1997 after a report claimed that manufacturing would start in the Seoul-based multinational automotive manufacturer’s plant in Georgia.

There were also rumors suggesting that a deal will go through between Apple and KIA Motors by the third week of February. The company will agree to manufacture 100,000 units of cars per year from the year 2024 as per sources who gave this information to Bloomberg.

Nissan Expressing Interest To Work With Apple:

American newspaper, The Wall Street Journal reported that Nissan is interested in collaborating with Apple Inc. CEO of Nissan Motors Makoto Uchida expressed an interest in collaborating with other companies who were better experienced and well-versed in different technologies. While the company did not specify Apple, experts say that this statement was a hint to Apple by Nissan to express their interest in a possible joint venture.

Apple has neither confirmed nor denied these rumors; however, the amount of reporting on this particular news confirms that something is undoubtedly underworked at Apple Headquarters. Last year, there were reports about Apple intending to release an electric car in 2021. Hyundai Motors denied the rumors of cars being manufactured with Apple.

It is clear that there is an eagerness from Apple to expand its ventures and go beyond smartphone manufacturing. However, only time will tell what they have in store for us in the future.

Faisal’s second ex-wife, Lubna Farooq took to her Youtube channel exposing Faisal’s ‘shady’ way of divorcing her.

But Lubna decided to answer what Nadia had said and what queries others have for her. She talked about the allegation of using the woman card as well as the statement that Lubna should ‘leave Faisal alone, it’s not like he committed murder.’

To this, she answers that she understands the divorces happen, her problem is how she was divorced. The way it was planned, she termed it a crime. Because according to her, Faisal planned it in a way that even though she was being wronged she facilitated Faisal and was left alone during the lockdown when people were already suffering due to pay cuts and unemployment. But she never brought that part up so she was not using any woman card.

She also said that it’s Nadia who should thank Lubna because now that his ex-wives have taken this to the internet, what happened to them will not repeat with Nadia.

Lubna Farooq has come forward saying that she was Faisal Rao’s second wife while Nadia is the third. She mentions that Faisal, it seems, has a habit of quickly falling in love as he did with her. She says that even when he was with her, it was similar to what Nadia was experiencing. They quickly fell in love and got married. Soon after, he divorced her, saying that whatever he was doing was because of his first wife’s black magic.

Although this has happened and Lubna Farooq made her own channel and already gained more than a thousand subscribers, what is hard to grab is the point of it. If you are trying to say that he is a serial monogamist, then maybe Nadia Khan’s husband should come forward and address this. There are people all throughout the history of the world with interesting stories. They have either heroic features done in their lives or they accomplish something beyond. It is said that heroes is not born, rather circumstances create them. If we look at events throughout history, we can actually pinpoint locations where heroes can be seen.

Similarly, there are personalities in terms of technological industries. Steve Jobs is one of them, Bill Gates is another. Speaking of the former, we have found his resume from another time!

Shaan Shahid & Ali Zafar Criticized For ‘Dancing’ In Wazir Khan Mosque

A recent video made to social media serving as fuel for Twitterati. It showed Shaan Shahid and Ali Zafar accompanied by the Federal minister Fawad Chaudhry visiting the Wazir Khan Mosque. In the video, there was some music in the background similar to what mazaar attendants play and dance in a Sufi way.

Now, according to what we can see in the clip, some people laced in Sufi dresses surround Shaan, after which both Shaan and Ali Zafar started performing what resembled a Sufi dance.

It seems Twitter was not having it. And they outright rejected it, calling such a performance a shameful act. What they did not agree with was the ‘dancing’ at a mosque.

Google Releases Year In Search 2020 Report For Marketers, With Insights Into How Brands Can Look Back To Plan Forward

Karachi, 16 February 2021: Did you know – “Kids home activities”, search queries have grown over 250% as Pakistanis are finding ways to teach kids at home while adjusting to the “new normal”. There was also a rise in searches for mental health-related information as people are finding ways to deal with the pandemic. These are some of the insights from Google’s annual ‘Year in Search’ report for brands that was released today. The report is a deep dive into what Pakistani users are searching for online and the opportunities these trends can unlock for brands.

Just like Google’s annual Year in Search captures the collective trending searches and sheds light on what captured people’s curiosity for Pakistan, this report shows major trends being driven by online users across the country. At the same time, businesses are seeking to understand how the pandemic has been changing behaviors and trends within their respective categories and how best to respond in the moments that matter most.

“COVID-19 has affected people in fundamental ways and has changed how we live our lives significantly. It also created the desire for us to connect to our wider community and give back – as witnessed by the 41% increase in searches for ‘sadaqah’. said Faraz Azhar, Industry Head for South Asia, Google Asia Pacific.

“In a year of historic challenges, happiness and joy have been very welcome. Consumers are embracing the brands that spark joy and create a safe space for them to take a break. Take gaming for example. We saw an increase of 35% searches for “online games” vs. 15% decline during the same period last year” added Aamir Altaf, Country Head, Google Customer Solutions Sales, South Asia

In the newly released report, Google outlined five key trends that are shaping Pakistanis’ search behavior and that marketers should care about:

Individual matters

2020 pushed Pakistanis to confront societal stigmas and complex issues, as visible from the 40% increase in searches for ‘gender equality’. In addition, regardless of whether mental health is widely acknowledged, there’s been a rise in searches for mental health-related information, with searches for ‘mental health support’ increasing by 100%.

Higher Purpose

Confronted with their own personal consumption habits during lockdowns, Pakistanis have been reassessing the impact on the environment. We witnessed a 128% surge in searches for ‘reusable’ as people sought ways to change their consumption habits. There was also an increased desire to proactively connect to our wider community to help and give back, with a 122% increase in searches for ‘charity work’.

Whole Selves

Many Pakistanis are finding ways to cope with their work and home duties under one roof, with people actively looking for ways to optimize their time and search for balance. +250% increase in searches for ‘kids home activities’ and 71% increase in how to be productive. 2020 also saw a 328% increase in searches for ‘dubbed in urdu’ in Pakistan, which is a good indicator that brands are increasingly expected to keep in consideration their customers’ specific preferences.

Sweet Relief

Understandably, people also looked for comfort and ways to de-stress this year, more than in previous years. There was a 90% increase in searches for ‘gaming chair’. As social distancing became the new way of life, there was a surge in searches ‘adopt a pet’ with a 700% increase. Many also have been seeking forms of indulging themselves while spending more time at home – there was a 140% growth in recipe searches for ‘easy dessert’.

Future Proofing

People are strengthening their economic prospects by boosting their skills and financial knowledge. There was a 223% growth in searches for ‘stock investing’. At the same time, proactive health management is on the rise, with 109% growth in searches for ‘disease prevention’ in a year that saw so many lose so much because of the pandemic.

A Pakistani student of ACCA is making all the headlines because of her incredible achievement. Nowadays, it seems it’s one student after another that’s making Pakistan proud. Here’s all you need to know about Zara Naeem Dar.

Her Achievements

A Pakistani student Zara Naeem has scored the highest marks in the ACCA exam worldwide.

Zara Naeem, one of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) students, has been declared the global prize winner after scoring the highest marks. She did the impossible by scoring the highest in the Financial Reporting exam worldwide.

ACCA exams are some of the most challenging exams aspiring accountants have to get through. The competition is also incredibly daunting, given that thousands of students appear for it every year.

Her Inspiration

Naeem, from Lahore, has said that her father was behind this success. Like a father intents to make sure his daughter makes her space in the world, he always lets her make her own decisions. Zara Naeem also mentioned that he always encourages all the girls in the family to pursue their dreams.

“Seeing his gold medal that he was awarded his MBA made me challenge myself to live up to his legacy by dedicating myself fully to my studies.” Moreover, her father serves in the military service, and their life has been spent moving around the country.

A Flexible Career

‘My father is a true role model for me. I grew up seeing him reaching great heights in his military service that always inspired me to follow in his footsteps,’ she added.

She said it was the best choice for her because her family has always been on the go. As a soldier’s family, their home has been all around Pakistan. Hence, “ACCA was a natural choice for me. Most military families move every few years, so I always knew I needed a qualification that ensures flexibility and offers global mobility”.

Future Plans

Zara Naeem’s ambition is only just getting started. She has shared her plans to start her own consultancy firm after attaining ACCA membership!

Even though the phone is expected to be released later this year, but there are already reports about specific features and leaks about the device right now shared by numerous sources who have been able to leak accurate details in the past.

Last year, several code names that were being used internally by Google were leaked.

As per details, the following keywords were being used to address a certain feature that is to be incorporated in Google’s devices in the future. The keywords were a passport, which allegedly refers to a folding display smartphone. In contrast, two other keywords called Raven and Oriole were named to refer to the older devices of Google Pixel.

Even though there are no concrete details about the cameras in the latest Google Pixel phones, one prevalent rumor is the under-display front camera that is expected to be incorporated into its new flagship smartphone range.

An image of a patent filed by Google has also been making rounds on the internet, which depicts a picture of what the under-screen camera would look like.

As we move forward into the year, it is expected that we will see more details about the design. Considering the previous models, one thing is certain that Google has not been afraid to make drastic changes to its design. With the camera taking more space on the backside of the phones, it is expected that it will not be slimmed down this year.

5 Development Projects In Karachi That Have Been Left Abandoned

A country has to keep developing itself. But it does not happen within a day. No, in fact, it takes several smaller contributions that together show how developed a country is. But at an international platform, how can someone visualize a country? It is through the depiction of the big cities and metro cities. So in Pakistan, as well, the most basic way to see how developed Pakistan is to see the projects in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Quetta.

Developmental Projects in Karachi

Governments do make an effort to announce projects. And that is a landmark in itself because getting projects approved in any country is a war on its own. However, if getting projects approved is all that is on the agenda, then the projects in Karachi have proved us wrong.

Researching another project, we stumbled across an interesting finding. It turns out that numerous unique projects were announced, but they were never executed. Now, it could be that we get excited every time a project gets announced, and the ones announcing the project get the praise, but they never work on it. So we decided to make a list of all the projects that were so fantastic that they made us wonder, “Will Pakistan really get innovations like these?” But then we never heard about them again.

1. Double Decker Buses

We do say that Karachi does not have many places to hang out, but we need to understand that the city is mostly unexplored. And with the history hidden in the city, there is much that we can explore. And for that purpose, it was announced that there would be double-decker buses in Karachi that will give tours to the city’s visitors. The announcement was made in 2016.

2. Green Line Buses

Yes, the government has announced that these buses will be operational hopefully by August 2021. But the reason we added this project to the list is that the project was supposed to go live in 2017. What led to there being a 4-year gap?

3. Free Wifi

In the year 2015, it was announced that Karachiites would have access to free wifi. 6 years later, paying for a PKR 500 package for the internet proves otherwise. But at least, at that moment, it made us happy, didn’t it?

4. LED Street Lights

What do LED street lights do? They basically make sure that when it is still light, they remain off. And when it is dark, the street lights switch-on on their own. Even if some areas did get these types of lights, they were in some hidden area that we were not privy to.

5. Tourist Boats

For a port city, not having any tourist boats is, I would call, a tragedy. But then, Karachi did announce a project involving tourist boats. The 50 seater boat would have taken tourists from Karachi and taken them on a trip to visit all the city’s sea-sites.

Just like the green line buses, maybe these four projects would also see the light of day.

Samsung Misses Out On Display Contract With Huawei

Samsung display failed to become the distributor of bendable and small-sized panels that were supposed to be incorporated into Huawei’s next-generation foldable smartphones. As per reports from the Far East and several other sources, online Samsung and Huawei had intentions of collaborating and had an agreement with each other related to this matter. The agreement and deal could not go through and were paused shortly after things were expected to get finalized between the Chinese and South Korean tech giants.

What Were The Possible Reasons Behind The Failure Of This Deal?

The barrier these companies encountered was due to the fact that US Commerce Department and several regulating bodies in the United States have placed sanctions on Huawei.

The Chinese-owned tech company got into a major controversy several years back after it was revealed that it was conducting business operations with Iran; a country that itself has been subject to numerous international sanctions due to its eagerness to become a nuclear power.

The law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies of the United States have placed roadblocks in front of Huawei after it was revealed that the company was violating international sanctions and has been severely affected ever since.

What Was The Alternative Used By Huawei?

Samsung’s foldable display was largely independent of American intellectual property, the United States approved of the deal back in October between the company. However, Huawei managed to get a last-minute change in its supplier and signed a deal with BOW, a fellow Chinese display maker who is one of the largest rivals of Samsung in this business segment.

Huawei was likely to back out at the last moment due to the fact that the United States was capable of pulling the plug from the deal and harm the supply chain of Huawei which is already having difficulties thriving after being sanctioned a few years back.

The Mate X2 is scheduled to launch in late February and will be incorporating foldable displays from its fellow Chinese company, BOE. The outcome of this deal is not beneficial for Samsung who could have benefited from the deal with its Chinese competitor, Huawei if the deal had gone through. This was a very lucrative opportunity for Samsung which has unfortunately been wasted due to legislative complications.

It seems as if foldable phones are something that will become common in the upcoming years. After Samsung released its Z series, there are reports of Apple releasing its own foldable gadgets too.

Pakistanis Want To Ban Chughtai Lab As A Blood Report Goes Wrong

Unqualified personnel in any field can be harmful. However, there are some industries where not being qualified can be really disastrous. A case in point is the airline pilots’ issue. After a tragedy, it was revealed that many Pakistani pilots were unlicensed. But then again, this revelation came after the incident. Similar to that happened with regard to the medical industry, specifically Chughtai Lab.

The hashtag #BanChughtaiLab started trending on Twitter. As it turns out, there was carelessness regarding a case of blood transfusion. One might think it’s a non-issue, but when it comes to the medical field, nothing really is a non-issue. And the non-issues in medicine can lead to someone losing their life, so there is no vacancy for non-issue in this field.

Chughtai Lab Incident

Apparently, the patient named Kiran was supposed to receive a blood transfusion. According to the reports by Minhaj Lab, another laboratory, the patient had blood group B.

However, Chughtai Lab and SurgiMed Lab put the blood group as AB. as a result, the patient in the situation got the renal infection and ultimately kidney failure.

They also said that if, after charging extremely high prices, this will be the performance, where an unassuming person got an infection she was not even in the hospital for, then what is really happening in the world?

There are many rivalries in the technological domain. Every day, we see more and more brands taking part in battles of sorts. Whether it is a battle of advertisement or products, it can be seen everywhere. Apple had recently locked horns with Samsung over the new releases. However, where Apple refused to add a charger with iPhone 12, Samsung did the same with the S21.

Similarly, Facebook has had a rivalry going on with Apple. Apparently, there was a whole issue of privacy and how new policies are expected to affect the users. Now, it seems that there is an ongoing campaign by Intel against Apple! It seems that the company is in a battle with a tech company. Let us see what is really going on.

The New Mac Chip:

Apple took the world by storm when they revealed their new M14 chip. According to testing and statistics, it has quite a few interesting features. It is swift, efficient, and supports a plethora of tasks. Testing even showed how well people were able to play games on these chips. Built-in GPU and neural capabilities gave the chip an even higher number on the charts.

Then the introduction of the M1, within Mac computers, meant one thing for Apple. It showed that they no longer needed to use Intel chips to power their system. This may have hit Intel harder than expected, as they have now launched a campaign against Apple. This campaign shows Intel asking the audience to refrain from using Mac.

Intel Firing Up A Campaign:

They started by stating that Apple may not have that high of gaming capabilities. They then mention how ‘Rocket League’ is a game not featured on the Apple store. It seems like Intel is taking jabs at the company in quite a subtle manner. Then they pointed out another thing. They said that only Intel devices offer touch screen, stylus, and touchpad in one. This is yet another subtle jab in Apple’s direction.

Intel seems to be coming up with some interesting ways to fuel this Anti-Mac AD campaign. All this seems to be the start of this entire event. There have even been many comparison videos trying to put Intel chips above Apple’s M1.

Another War Has Broken Out:

As the title here suggests, it seems another war is at play now. This one is taking place between two of the greatest titans of the technological industry. Whether you’re an Apple fan or an Intel one, it might be time for you to pick aside. It can be either one but be careful, for the competition is fierce.

We hope the rivalry does not escalate too much as we expect a lot from both the companies. We know one thing for sure; Intel is catching quite many eyes due to this campaign. In the end, it boils down to the user whether they will turn towards Intel or Apple. Apple themselves have taken quite a rise, and so has the other company.
