Huge news and the latest development in two ongoing cases pertaining to female violence have left many hopeful. Usman Mirza and Zahir Jaffer, the two horrible men currently in jail have been declared fit for a court trial. Here’s what you need to know:

Zahir Jaffer Portrayed As mentally Unfit

Initially, Zahir Jaffer’s parents, with the help of Therapy works, tried to portray their son as mentally unfit. They spun the narrative that he is mentally challenged so that he does not go through trial and is not convicted. However, a team of psychologists at Adiala Jail have concluded he is totally fit for trial. It was a female psychologist and her team who conducted tests with him and declared him fit to stand court trial.

In the start, the news was also spread that he was under drug influence at the time of the murder. However, the police report also confirmed later that was not the case. So, in conclusion, not only is he mentally sound but he was also in all of his senses when he committed the gruesome murder.

Usman Mirza Case

Though Usman Mirza did not portray that he was mentally unfit, he was subjected to the same treatment. Usman Mirza is responsible for blackmailing a couple and striping a woman of her clothes. He was subsequently arrested.

Usman Mirza also underwent a psychological evaluation by a team of psychiatrists. The team was headed by Dr. Saira Ghazanfar and Dr. Hira Sheikh. The women and their team applied various methods to assess his mental state. Through those, it was determined that they were indeed able to stand in court. This is a huge breakthrough in both cases as without these the men would not have been convicted.

Victim blaming is one of the favourite sports of Pakistani men and women whenever any incident concerning female violence comes to light. Hence, even after the Minar-e-Pakistan incident which has left many traumatised, victim blaming is on the rise. Men and unfortunately women are piling the blame on the woman.

Capitalising On A Tragedy

Many are now unnecessarily squeezing news and controversy out of this incident. They view this as their opportunity to rise to fame and it does indeed become that for many. A man is going around to visitors of Minar-e-Pakistan and interviewing random people ot ask them whether they think the incident was real.

Is this a question to ask? How can this possibly be staged? Regardless, he asks people whether it was a true event or a mission to defame Pakistan. The answers are simply ridiculous.

Latest Update On Case

Punjab Police has arrested around 35 people for now. They are all in the custody of the police after raids in nearby areas. It is being reported that after investigation, 20 have been released while the rest remain in custody.

The police intends to find them by using phone data to see which men were at the park on the said day at that time.

A female Tiktoker piles all the blame on the woman. She says on live television that female Tiktokers are responsible for whatever happens to them. They ‘spread fahashi’ and seduce the men of the nation. As a result, they deserve what they get according to this Tiktoker.

Moreover, she character assassinates the woman who was tortured at Minar-e-Pakistan. She said, ID Ayesha, you will see the “mujra” she does. As if that could justify what happened to her. However, Jannat Mirza then exposed this very Tiktoker for doing the same.

Then a man was asked whether he thinks this event was real. He straight up said that he thinks this is a “sazish”. He says so many of our sisters are here today, so many mothers are here. Nothing has happened to them.

Then he also shifts the blame on the woman, Ayesha for spreading ‘fahashi’.

Helpless and Hopeless Scene

It appears this is a dead-end in Pakistani society which might not change within our lifetimes. A woman can be simply tortured by 400 men for hours, be stripped of all her clothing, and yet, people will find a way to blame her. The owners can even track the production of Solar through an app. Furthermore, they can keep an eye on how much usage is being done and then sell the excess energy back to the company. This seems like quite an initiative for the company and their contribution to a clean energy era.

Pakistan is seeing quite a lot of shocking incidents in the past decades. Many of these don’t even see the light of day and go unreported. We are talking about the merciless criminal activities that leave people in a state of trauma or worse. On 14th August, independence day, there was not much to celebrate. The country witnessed one of the most grotesque, inhumane, and criminal incidents A woman who was visiting Minar-e-Pakistan for leisure, was attacked by a mob of more than 400 men, assaulted, and harrassed.

Since then, a lot of the nation is infuriated and is asking for justice. This is a criminal act of a high order and deserves swift and just punishment. The concept of ‘Consent’ seems to be alien to these people. They think they are entitled to do whatever they want to. The lack of justice and the very nature of this incident boils the blood.

According to sources, PM Imran Khan has spoken to IG Punjab regarding this incident. PM’s close aide, Zulfiqar Bukhari, also tweeted an update. It said that the perpetrators will not get away with this and each and every single criminal will be caught. They further said that they are identifying individuals through video footage. The police registered a case against 400 men for assaulting the woman, who was just minding her own business.

Every action should be taken to apprehend these animals disguised as people. Who, in their right mind, would even think of committing such an act. They don’t even stop to think what the consequences of their actions will be. Then come the people who decide to pin the blame on the victim. The most horrifying incident occurred at Minar-e-Pakistan on the 14th of August. A woman peacefully celebrating independence day was groped, molested, harassed and stripped by not one, two, or three men but by 400 men. While you let that sink in, #Notallmen is trending on Twitter.

The Incident

The incident occurred 4 days ago and it only came to light yesterday. The fact that such a disgustingly horrifying case took 3 days to even become public shows a lot. The female was with her friends at the national monument where out of nowhere men started attacking her.

400 men, collectively, attacked her and groped her for hours. The video shows daylight fade in the background and she received no help. A single call to the police could have also helped but people rather made videos. In the end, the woman’s clothes were ripped.

The Update

So far, a case has been filed and an FIR has been registered. Women on social media and on Tiktok are using their skills to find the men involved in the act. Many faces have come to light such as these, take screenshots at your will and send them to the police.

However, as if it could not get worse, #NotAllMen started trending on Twitter. Those men who were not present at the monument to participate in this vile act felt offended. The trend triggered many women and allies who started aggressively campaigning to the contrary.

The Incognito mode on Google Chrome has always had its time in the shadow. A lot of people are still aren’t clear of how much privacy it does provide. It does make the browsing history disappear from the browser but is there anyone who can still see it? According to sources, Google is set to come out with a new update that could change the way we look at this particular mode.

Now, if you open Incognito mode, there is a paragraph present on it that talks about how this will work. It also mentions that ISPs may track the sites you visit. However, the long description has made it difficult for many people to understand how private the browser is. Under the new update, the entire loading page is going to be changed.

Going Incognito

We know that Google was facing a lawsuit due to privacy issues. It seems that there are loopholes and dead-ends in some of the policies. However, there are a couple of things that this new update talks about. Firstly, it doesn’t include a long paragraph anymore. Instead, it cuts to the chase and tells you exactly what the Incognito mode will do. Firstly, it says that the mode will wipe any info, site addresses, history, and form data once the tabs are closed.

Secondly, it also states that, while you are anonymous, you might not be entirely anonymous. Yes, they make it crystal clear that being inside this mode does not mean you are entirely hidden. Additionally, they also state that ISPs can track the sites that you may be visiting. Apart from that, they have also said that sites you use during the incognito mode, will know you have visited and used them.

Hiding Online

Now, all this still does not clear whether Google gathers any information or not. However, it does make the terms of the mode clear. Currently, this update is only available on a specific browser version of android. It is soon expected to enter the other device domains quite soon. Lahore Traffic Police Officers Suspended For Misbehaving In Calvary Ground

Still waiting for the day when the people in power would try to make a difference, instead of trying to shake the ground around them while they try to abuse their power. Many instances have been reported where the lack of accountability leads people, especially men, to break the law. Unfortunately, a similar incident leads to the suspension of two traffic police officers in Lahore.

Police Officers Misbehave 

The lack of patience is the root cause of many problems in our society. The simplest things that can be addressed politely and decently turn out to be the biggest of hassles simply because either one or both parties can’t properly deliver the argument. Ironically it also includes people who should be the ones practising them at the very least.

A traffic police warden and an assistant were suspended in Lahore for misbehaving with a family near Calvary ground. 

The warden stopped a women driver for not wearing a seat belt. As soon as they step out of the car, the warden hits the man accompanying the woman with the car door. He hit the man as he slammed the car door open. The video shows a woman talking to the warden, trying to calm him down. However, as soon as the women tried to intervene, the warden started misbehaving with the women. The warden kept pushing them both against the car until people began gathering, trying to resolve the matter.

Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Muntazir Mehdi has suspended traffic assistant Munawar and traffic warden Shahid in light of the incident.

A Recent Incident 

The suspension of police officers is not something we have ever seen before. Previously, many such incidents have occurred where the officers are suspended or dismissed from their posts. A few weeks ago, a police officer was arrested after charges were filed against him for abusing a woman as he exposes himself in front of her.

However, the officer was soon arrested along with the decision of his dismissal from the force.

Karachi: August 17, 2021 – The honorable President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan – Dr. Arif Alvi recently made an official visit to Turkey, where he also held a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Arçelik – Mr. Hakan Bulgurlu, and several other major corporate leaders from Turkey. Arçelik, which is the 2nd largest manufacturer of home appliances and electronics in Europe, acquired Pakistan’s leading home appliance company Dawlance in 2016 and is one of the largest Turkish investments in Pakistan.

During the meeting, the participants discussed vast opportunities of economic cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey. The President also extended an invitation to Turkish investors and entrepreneurs to take full advantage of Pakistan’s business-friendly policies and conducive business environment being created by the government.

The CEO Arçelik, Mr. Hakan Bulgurlu, expressed his pleasure in meeting the President of Pakistan and said: “Emerging economies like Pakistan are at a crossroads, as the growing demand for energy and home appliances go hand in hand with diminishing natural resources. We have had a valuable discussion with the President of Pakistan about effective measures to curb energy consumption, while we also shared with him sustainable solutions across our industry and how scarce resources can be conserved through our efficient appliances which will be the need of the hour especially for a country like Pakistan.”

Commenting on this important meeting in Turkey, the CEO of Dawlance in Pakistan, Mr. Umar Ahsan Khan, stated that: “Dawlance-Arçelik would like to express our gratitude to the Honorable President Dr. Arif Alvi for meeting our Global CEO in İstanbul. While we make sure we are always a reliable partner for our customers in their homes as they make progress in their lives towards achieving their dreams, we at Dawlance are committed to sustainability and strive towards giving our future generations a healthy planet.”

Environmental and sustainability initiatives were also discussed and talked about during the session as energy efficiency and environment sustainability are at the core of operations for Arçelik and is the point of focus for Pakistan. During the discussions with delegates of the Energy, Electronics, I.T., Health, and other industries of Turkey, President Dr. Alvi also invited these entrepreneurs to avail the lucrative investment opportunities emerging in numerous industrial sectors of Pakistan, including; Finance, Mining and Tourism amongst others. “Bhai” is a Pakistani short film directed and written by Hamza Bangash. The executive producers of the film are Mina Husain of the Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning (PILL) and Salman Ahmed. It has been co-produced by Taha Sabri of Taskeen and Westbury Group. Carol Noronha acts as the producer with Ammar Ul Haque as the DOP.

Why Is It Special?

“Bhai” is a short film about two brothers. One of them is on the autism spectrum and the film explores shame, trauma, and brotherhood. In our society, autism is not properly understood and it is impossible to find the right resources for it. It is treated like a hopeless case. However, this movie shows the brother on the spectrum as simply “differently-abled”, a term we have yet to adopt.

This film is special because it casts a person on the spectrum to act in the capacity of a person on the spectrum. Usually, neuro-typical people/actors are made to act out in these roles. “Bhai” is honest in its depiction. Seeing someone actually with a neurological condition is bound to open our eyes. It has the power to make the audience more sensitive to autism.

The Director’s Words

Hamza Bangash, the director and writer of the film, hopes to instigate a change with his decision. By casting a differently-abled person in his short film, he hopes to make a case for the minority. He believes they deserve a chance just as much as neurotypical people do. The Pakistani society/industry lacks in this regard.

Bangash also believes the differently-abled can give more to the industry with their nuanced performances. This also does not only apply to those who are differently-abled. If there is a role of a transgender, instead of turning men/women into one, cast actual transgenders.
