Oprah Winfrey is one of the most powerful and influential women in America.

Forbes last year estimated Winfrey’s net worth to be a whopping $3 billion and this placed her 3rd on the list of America’s richest self-made women.

Yesterday, the talk show host literally owned the internet as she became the first black woman to be awarded a Cecil B Demille Award at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards, joining Meryl Streep, Steven Spielberg, Barbra Streisand and Sophia Loren.

However, it was Winfrey’s impassioned speech in support of those who have exposed sexual misconduct in the workplace that is making waves on social media.

The beauty was wrapped up in a sleek black gown to show support to the victims of the sexual misconduct.

Titled as“a new day is on the horizon”, the icon’s speech emphasized on the rise of sexual misconduct in Hollywood and divulged that she had been facing it since her early childhood.

Winfrey ended the speech with this soul-stirring line:

Honda Pakistan Increases Price for Selective Vehicles!

As predicted, after increasing Rs 500-1000 on their bikes, Honda Pakistan has now increased prices for their vehicles as well.

This adds Honda to the list whereas its rivals including Toyota (Indus Motors Company) and Pak Suzuki have already increased prices to their vehicles.

Once again, the reason for the sudden hike in prices is because the devaluation of the Rupee against the Dollar, which has impacted on the price of imported parts in Pakistan.

As of now, the company has not increased the prices for BR-V and its Turbo Civic, yet. As the company is speculated to launch 3 models in 2018, we are yet to see what price-tag is accompanied by them.

Apple’s iPhone 8, 8+ and iPhone X have remained one of the favorite models by the company. However, a lot of users have one common question, whats the difference?

Well, there are differences in the handsets, even though they are not very obvious. This also explains the price of the phones, as the iPhone X is priced at a whopping $1,000.

Out of all 3, the iPhone X has the best and most different display. Its bezel-less body has allowed the phone to have more screen in a ‘compact’ body and not to forget that the OLED display makes pictures and videos more vibrant.

Once again, a very noticeable feature which is different in all 3 variants is their design. One example is that the iPhone X in smaller (in height) compared to the iPhone 8 Plus, however, it has a bigger display.

Apple was unable to fit its exciting Face ID technology (more in the Performance section) into the top bezel resulting in a large cut out ‘notch’. This compromises viewing media on the iPhone X.

Honda Pakistan is speculated to launch not one or two, but three new cars in 2018.

The rumors circulating on the social media have indicated that the company is planning to re-launch the Honda Civic Turbo and launch the 1200cc Honda Brio and a new Honda City.

Honda Civic Turbo

Honda was showered with criticism for their Civic Turbo 1.5L started causing a persistent knocking issue. This started a spark within the engine and lead to fires. Because of this, the company was forced to discontinue the variant.

However, due to its popularity, the company might just bring the Civic Turbo 1.5 VTEC CVT back in the Q1 of 2018l

Honda Brio

Brio comes equipped with a 1.2L i-VTEC engine, it’s four-cylinder engine with Programmed Fuel Injection, delivering impressive performance with 88ps at 6000rpm. By regulating valve opening to match engine speed, the agile i-VTEC engine adjust its characteristics to deliver both superior power and low fuel consumption.

Pakistan has forever been debating over the pros and cons of using packaged milk.

Over the past year, a report was released by Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) which deemed package milk as unfit for human consumption due to various harmful chemicals present.

The report stirred an outcry from regular tetra pack milk consumers and since then, Pakistanis are forever having a hard time trusting any one brand.

Following the whole controversy, Punjab Food Authority (PFA) took matters into its own hands and collected the samples of UHT/Tetra Pack milk brands.

Those samples were delivered to ISO-17025 Certified Laboratories SGS, PCSIR and Intertek to analyze the quality of milk on the basis of 3 parameters:

  • chemical
  • biological
  • physical

THE RESULTS ARE NOW OUT & BELOW IS THE LIST OF BRANDS THAT CLEARED THE TEST!

Amongst UHT/ Tetra Brands, following names have cleared the list:

  1. Haleeb
  2. Olpers
  3. Nurpur Milk
  4. Nestle Milk Pack
  5. Nestle Nesveta
  6. Day Fresh
  7. Good Milk

Meanwhile, in the category Natural Pasteurised milk brands, following products were mentioned:

Imran Khan’s 3rd Marriage Controversy: Bushra Maneka’s Ex-Husband Breaks Silence

It was yet another eventful weekend for the whole of Pakistan, packed with juicy controversy and fresh with spicy gossip. Well that’s what our people love the most, right?

This time it was the life and multiple marriages of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman, Imran Khan that drew some serious ire.

Rumors were rife that the politician has secretly tied the knot to the mother of 5 and spiritual leader, Bushra Maneka.

This news triggered Pakistanis like nobody’s business and a tsunami of hate comments erupted on the internet.

Following the bedlam, PTI released a statement clarifying that Khan has ONLY proposed to Bushra Bibi and she is yet to give her consent on the matter.

‘Mr Khan proposed marriage, but Ms Maneka asked for time to make a final decision after consulting her family, including her children.’

The issue turned into a national scandal, with media houses accusing Kaptaan of destroying Bushra Bibi’s first marriage to her ex-husband, Khawar Farid Maneka- a senior customs official in Islamabad.

The slandering has now gotten out of control, courtesy irresponsible journalism and keyboard warriors kickstarting a smear campaign against Maneka and the chairman.

So much so, Manya’s former husband has now come forward to defend his ex-wife and reveal the real story behind the whole hullabaloo

“I want to clearly state about my former wife, Bushra Bibi, that I have not seen a woman as pious as her in the world”

In a video clip, Khawar Farid Maneka vouched for Bushra’s piety and slammed all rumors about Imran Khan being the reason for their separation.

“We consider Imran Khan a disciple of our spiritual house. It hurts me to hear such things about him because I have not seen a man as respectable as him

China Announces Long-term Visas to Over 50,000 Foreigners

Willing to visit China? Well, then you are in great luck!

Our good neighbors have just made a mega announcement of welcoming over 50,000 foreigners to stay in the nation for a few months without having to apply for a work permit

According to China Daily, the new rule will permit particular ‘overseas experts’  to spend time in the state and ‘know the country’ before they began their work permit application.

Individuals can stay up to 180 days i.e.six months at a time on multiple entry visas that will be valid for five to ten years.

The best part is that their spouses and children will also be eligible.

BUT HERE COMES THE CATCH!

This visa regulation includes “top scientists, international entrepreneurs and other talents with specific high-level skills” who can help in the development of China’s economy.

Here’s how it will all happen:

Talent overseas professionals will undergo a new streamlined visa application process, with its issuing procedure completed in just ten days.

Visa Applications can be made online and are free of charge.

Eligible candidates will have their application vetted by:

  • the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs
  • the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • the Ministry of Public Security

Once the departments have passed the expat as worthy of ‘top talent’ certification, a visa will be issued.

With this new move, China is declaring to the world that it is willing to embrace top talent by creating conditions for deserving people to work and live in China.

New Wedding Regulations Announced in Islamabad

Weddings in Punjab are known to end at an earlier time, unlike Sindh weddings that continue way past midnight. However, it seems like the wedding rules and regulations have now been tightened for Islamabad Marquees and marriage halls once again.

The Notice issued in accordance with the Prohibition of Ostentatious Displays and Wasteful Expenses Ordinance 2000 has ordered the following: 

  1. Locals are to ensure they stick to the timings which mention festivities can only last until at 10 p.m.
  2. In order to curb the massive wastages at wedding halls, refreshments have been limited to ‘One Dish’ only.
  3. Fireworks, firecrackers are strictly prohibited
  4. Other explosives, firearms, and firing are also prohibited by law.

The notice was issued on the 3rd of January, 2018 and states that failure to comply with the law could lead to stern action being carried out.

BMW has launched the M4 2018 model. Priced at the low cost of just 76 iPhone Xs or $76,500. Jokes aside the car and its specs are no joke, it will blow you off your feet!

BMW M4 Specifications

The M4 is a luxury car with rear wheel drive. It has an astounding 3000cc engine under its hood. The engine is a petrol powered twin turbo premium i-6 engine. It has a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with shift paddles. With the car going from 0 to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds.

The M4 is as spacious as they come, with leather seats and leather dashboard. It also has 6 subwoofers, all equipped with surround sound, a wireless charging dock, a heads-up display and a satellite radio.

This Foreigner Visited Pakistan and Absolutely Loved It!

2018 is the year for Pakistan, the British Backpacking Society recently named the Land of Pure as the number one travel destination in the world.

Another popular adventurer has put Pakistan on the world’s tourism map after her vlog on ‘Why You Should Visit Pakistan’ has gone viral over the internet.

Nora visited Pakistan last year and vlogged her trip to Islamabad, Hunza and other Northern areas on her Youtube channel. The adventure enthusiast travels throughout the world on her motorcycle.

Here’s what she had to say about her making the video for Pakistan, 

So I traveled to Pakistan last year and it has left a big impression on me. I wanted to make this video because I feel like Pakistan has an underdog position and they can use some help showing the good sides of their country.

The Dutch national is seen campaigning for Pakistan in her video and mentions 5 reasons why one must visit.

Here’s what Nora had to say,

“Pakistan is amazing for a nature person. It has some of the highest mountains in the world. There are some incredible views! You’ll see mountains, glaciers, wild rivers it will be a road trip you’ll never forget.”

Nora describes the people of Pakistan as extremely friendly and loving people who will make you feel right at home.

“They are so happy to see foreigners in the country, they are grateful to see you there!”

Pakistan is known for its many delicacies and Nora completely agrees. She mentions how finger-licking good the food is across the country.

4. No Crowds at Tourist Attractions

Due to Pakistan not being a popular tourist destination for foreigners, you’ll hardly find any crowds at the tourist attractions.

“You really feel like an explorer in the country.”

5. Safe to Travel

Contradicting to the general perception across the globe, Nora talks about how safe she felt in Pakistan and had no troubles traveling alone.

“Listen to the locals and follow their advices! I traveled alone being a woman on my motorcycle and faced no issues.”

IMC Unofficially Launched Toyota Camry Hybrid 2018 in Pakistan!

Unlike other manufacturers who hold grand events to launch their latest models, Indus Motors Company (IMC) recently held a soft launch of their all-new 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid.

Since this was a soft event, only selective individuals were invited, including official dealers and a limited number of media personalities. A car enthusiast shared photos of the Camry which were taken from the event.

Atlas Honda Increases Price-Tag for Bikes!

Since it has not yet been launched in Thailand, chances are that the model will be imported directly from Japan. For those who were unaware, Toyota Pakistan takes its cues from Toyota Thailand.

However, if a car is not available in Thailand, and is a Japanese-made built,  it will be only available with a hybrid drivetrain since there is no regular gasoline-powered (non-hybrid) Camry in Japan.

It is expected to be equipped with a 2487cc engine, giving off 210 BHP.

The rumored price of the 2018 Camry Hybrid are as followed;

  • Camry Hybrid (premium grade): Rs. 8,499,000/- ex factory
  • Camry Hybrid (base grade): Rs. 8,299,000/- ex factory

PCB in Works to Bring Australia & New Zealand in Pakistan!

With cricket season in full-swing, and PSL 3 just around the corner, Pakistani sports fanatics cannot wait for the clash of the best players on an international platform.

While on one hand, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is preparing for PSL, on the other they are in works to bring Australia and New Zealand to Pakistan!

According to sources, PCB has plans in the pipeline to encourage some good ol’ cricket from both the teams.

Speaking on the matter, Najam Sethi said:

“We are scheduled to host Australia and New Zealand for our home series in UAE. I will try my best to convince both of them to play at least one match in Pakistan during the series.”- Najam Sethi

He further added, “last year was very good for cricket. PCB and our team have achieved a lot in 2017. It was the collective dedication and team spirit that we did well. We are on a winning streak and it will continue.”

“We hosted the PSL final, then World XI team came and then Sri Lanka arrived and played in Pakistan. West Indies will come and play in Pakistan in March.”

We hope PCB pulls of their magic and successfully convinces the teams to play at least 1 match in Pakistan. Yes folks, #CricketIsComingHome!

Lyari Expressway All Set to be Inaugurated After 15 Years

The National Highway Authority is set to inaugurate three major roads in the next two weeks. The information was provided to the authority during the meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) spokesman on Wednesday has mentioned that the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) has completed its major projects in Sindh and over 80% of the work on the Lyari Expressway has been completed.

 

The Lyari Expressway that has been under construction for the past 15 years and it has been reported to be inaugurated on the 17th of January.

Lyari Expressway spans across 38 km and connects the M-9 Superhighway and Mauripur Interchange connecting the Karachi Port with Karachi Hyderabad Highway.
