Weddings in Punjab are known to end at an earlier time, unlike Sindh weddings that continue way past midnight. However, it seems like the wedding rules and regulations have now been tightened for Islamabad Marquees and marriage halls once again.

The Notice issued in accordance with the Prohibition of Ostentatious Displays and Wasteful Expenses Ordinance 2000 has ordered the following: 

  1. Locals are to ensure they stick to the timings which mention festivities can only last until at 10 p.m.
  2. In order to curb the massive wastages at wedding halls, refreshments have been limited to ‘One Dish’ only.
  3. Fireworks, firecrackers are strictly prohibited
  4. Other explosives, firearms, and firing are also prohibited by law.

The notice was issued on the 3rd of January, 2018 and states that failure to comply with the law could lead to stern action being carried out.
