NCOC Launches Pak Nigehbaan App For COVID-19 Patients

On Friday, leading news channels in the country reported that a new mobile app called Pak Nigehbaan had been launched. The application is developed by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) for COVID-19 patients.

Considering the increase of COVID-19 patients in the country (100,000 + cases, Source: Dawn), the app was developed to locate ventilators in hospitals. The app will prove to be immensely helpful in saving lives in situations of emergency.

In the last one week, federal govt has distributed 250 ventilators. Of these, 72 were given to Punjab, 52 each to Sindh and KP, and 20 to Balochistan. The balance was given to AJK, GB, and Islamabad.

An official statement said that this particular application is available on mobile app stores and can be downloaded without any hassle. Also, it is available on Google Drive and Covid.gov.pk, which makes it accessible to all.

The statement also mentions that several 1,110 hospitals around the country will be associated with the app, so it is easier to locate an available facility nearby.

The purpose of the app is to inform citizens, healthcare workers, emergency responders about the availability of beds and ventilators near them.

A resource management system has also been placed in order by the NCOC. The system will update inventory available at 15,459 hospitals across the country.

We have decided in the NCOC meeting this morning that the federal government will ensure an increase of 1000 beds with oxygen supply capability in the major cities of the country within the month of June, tweeted Asad Umer.

The resource management system will assist all the provinces in assessing facilities being provided at the hospitals under their domain. The numbers will reflect any shortcomings that we can face in regards to the medical facilities.

As of now, 2000 + deaths have been reported due to novel coronavirus in Pakistan.
An updated version of the app will show the availability of beds/vents & capacity/usage in real-time at various health centers across Pakistan.


Technology has been doing wonders in fighting this fight against the deadly virus. The entire world has been using it to combat the ongoing pandemic. Pakistan seems to be moving in the right direction with the Pak Nigehbaan app.

WhatsApp Users Soon To Use Same Account On Multiple Devices

June 8, 2020: Whatsapp will soon roll out a feature that will allow users to use the same account on multiple devices. The team behind the scenes has been working on the latest feature for a while now.

The company has been pushing beta releases over the past few months now that hints toward the launch of the feature shortly.

According to WABetaInfo, the Android Beta release of the app, version 2.20.152, shows a new development on the multi-device feature demonstrating a “Linked Devices” screen on the app.

The information on the beta versions states, “Use WhatsApp on other devices. Send or receive messages from your browser computer or Facebook portal.” – very similar to iMessage.


The beta version of the app is usually subject to change as they are “test runs”.

May 13, 2020: WhatsApp users will soon be able to call as many as 50 people on video. Towards the end of April, Facebook had introduced Messenger Rooms, a platform where you can connect up to 50 individuals at a time.

WhatsApp users will be able to access the Messenger Rooms via shortcuts. This news was shared by one of the most reliable tech sources, wabetainfo.com.

According to them, the Whatsapp development team is working on a Messenger Rooms shortcut for WhatsApp web, and it’s currently in beta mode.

The couple said, “we were affected by Turkish TV series (Dirilis: Ertuğrul) Resurrection: Ertuğrul and Turkey’s humanitarian activities around the world, and then decided to become Muslim.”

The influencer then soon announced that she had embraced the religion of Islam on her social media.

When questioned about how she made the big decision, she shared that it was because of her trip to Pakistan!

She added that she paid accolades to Pakistan and its people, who helped her get rid of the pain she has been going through for years and fulfill her desire to be free.

Pakistan eased its lockdown just before Eid. Restaurants, shops, and other ‘bazaars’ were allowed to re-open after a month of closure. Specific SOP’s have to be followed as provided by the government. However, a video of a popular fast food joint, Hot and Spicy, has been going viral over social media, which is utterly shocking!

The video is made inside the Hot and Spicy kitchen, and it looks like they have not received the SOP memo! None of the staff is wearing protective face masks or gloves. Hairnets, aprons, and uniforms, which are standard health guidelines to be followed, are also not being followed by some of the employees, as seen in the video.

If you’ve been ordering food in from restaurants after the lockdown was relaxed, this video is a must-watch!

As seen below, none of the employees are wearing a protective face mask that has now become mandatory by law!

Furthermore, the kitchen staff is not wearing hand gloves either.

Inside the tiny restaurant kitchen, there are way too many people present at once, disregarding the social distancing rule completely. 

One of the staff members can be seen at the back of the kitchen, not wearing a hairnet either! Ignoring basic health protocols to be followed by eateries. 

The short video was uploaded by a member of the food group on Facebook, SWOT’S Guide to Karachi’s Restaurants, Cafes, Dhabas, HBFE & Takeouts.

The poor hygienic conditions seen in the video are scary! Especially during a crucial time as such where proper hygiene is essential.

However, some believed it was rude of the customer to make a video of the employees since it is the management’s responsibility to provide face masks and gloves in the workspace.

The eatery’s management should be keeping a check and ensuring that the SOP’s are being followed as per the guidelines.

The first episode of Daasi aired on 16th September 2019. Starring Mawra Hocane, Adeel Hussain, and Faryal Mehmood, this show seemed promising. Famous writer and director, Misbah Nausheen and Mohsin Talat, failed to hit the right chords.

The show could’ve easily been a simple romantic tale, but it failed to impress after exhibiting misogyny.

2. Main Na Janoo (Hum TV)

There are cunning women, “Bechari” (innocent) girls and lovers that could never be together. The drama delivered yet another kick in the gut to Pakistani viewers with its same old stereotypes.

3. Thoda Sa Haq

This show takes the level of stupidity to another level. We honestly couldn’t make either head nor tail of it. When we discuss cousin and forced marriages, we can’t help but think about certain stereotypical aspects of desi society.

This show has it all, from cheating to lying and more. With popular actors like Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan, the audience expected a sensible plot, but to their surprise, they were proven immensely wrong.

4. Bewafa (ARY)

You’ll be watching the repetitive cycle of her getting tortured and abused, episode by episode. Doesn’t get any more cliched than that.

Former model and CEO of Catwalk Events, Frieha Altaf, came up with this innovative idea last month when she decided that it was high time to take the country’s fashion industry in a different direction. According to the PR mogul, Frieha, this way, the fashion industry would also pay tribute to doctors, nurses, and paramedics who are combating the pandemic.

Vodafone UK’s youth brand VOXI’s latest ad, “I am Endless” is filmed, edited and produced entirely from home in just 16 days!

What is the ‘I am Endless’ Ad About?

The campaign portrays what can be achieved by merely using mobile and broadband technologies. This fun to watch video shows a teenager connecting with his friends and family during the coronavirus lockdown. The production is shot entirely using his Samsung S20 smartphone, using its 4k front and rear cameras for the visuals and internal microphones for the audio.

While watching the ad, one can surely relate to what the actor is going through. He is seen baking, video calling his grandparents, and having a virtual dance party with his friends. Haven’t we all been there at some point during this quarantine?

Ad agency, Ogilvy, was about two weeks away from launching a campaign for Voxi when the lockdown began. Jon Tapper, head of advertising at Ogilvy, said:

“Lots of the strategic and creative work had been done in building a new brand platform for Voxi, about how a young person was using social media to get the most out of the world around them, and obviously overnight that world had changed, so that was the pivot point.”

5. Abrar-ul-Haq

Singer-turned-politician, Abrar ul Haq, also revealed that he had been tested positive for COVID-19. The PTI leader took to Twitter to share the news on Sunday.

6. Naveed Raza

Another star from the show Mera Dil Mera Dushman tested positive for the novel virus is Raza, who took Instagram to announce his condition.

7. Salman Ahmed 

The singer, who was in New York for his musical projects, got himself tested after he experienced symptoms of the virus. Plus, Ahmad remained there due to the suspension of flights. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Salman discussed his journey from the time he started feeling coronavirus symptoms to him, eventually becoming healthy once again.

Furthermore, on Friday, Pakistan broke its previous record of the highest single-day rise ever, reporting 4,896 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry said. With the latest surge, Pakistan’s tally of coronavirus cases has reached 89,248, already surpassing China, and landing the country at the 17th spot in terms of coronavirus cases, the data shows.

Another 68 patients lost their lives due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, across the country, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 1,838. Some 31,198 patients have recovered.

Morris Garages (M.G..G.) Motor U.K..K. Limited, a British automotive company owned by Shanghai-based SAIC Motor.

JW Park has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M.G.G. to introduce Electric Vehicles (E.V.s.V.s) in Pakistan.

Earlier, we shared that Javed Afridi, known to be the owner of the popular Pakistan Super League (P.S.L.) franchise Peshawar Zalmi, had taken a spin with the MG E-Motion.

Moreover, reports shared claim that Chinese President Xi Jinping will inaugurate the plant during a visit to Pakistan later this year.

When the E.V.s.V.s launch, they will be direct competitors of the K.I.A. Sportage, which has taken the market by storm.

On the other hand, these E.V.s.V.s are expected to be priced around 4.5 million to 5.5 million, which is a highly competitive price range.

However, with the current economic situation due to the novel coronavirus, as well as the hit the industry, as well as the demand, has taken, there may be a chance that M.G..G. delays or cancels their plans.

Earlier, Renault had also shown its interest in the Pakistani auto sector; however, due to the unstable economy, they decided to put the plan on ice.

While things will take time to settle down, it won’t be until a few months before we can be sure if we will see these M.G..G. vehicles in Pakistan once again.

News has been floating in the air recently that J.W. has set up their plant in Pakistan.

Furthermore, they were looking to establish the most significant private venture of electric vehicle (E.V.) manufacturing.

J.W. Auto Park inked a Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U.) with Morris Garages (M.G.) for their electric rides. M.G. initially started as a British brand but was taken over by a Chinese Firm.

It is being reported that the plant was to be inaugurated by the Chinese President during a visit to Pakistan later this year.

However, no reports have come forward on this matter. Moreover, with the novel coronavirus lingering upon our heads, the inauguration of the plant is not happening anytime soon.

Javed Afridi, known to own the top-rated Pakistan Super League team Peshawar Zalmi has shared not one but two videos on his social media page, confirming that M.G. is bringing a locally assembled E.V. soon.

It is expected to be tested on the roads in Pakistan and also expected that the S.U.V. would be made available for purchasing soon.

Afridi announced the launch of the MG E-Motion, and that bookings for this one are now open in his second video.

“Here you go with a First Fully Electric Vehicle from M.G. Road Trials Started in Pakistan.” He wrote for the first video.

It is expected that both vehicles will be priced somewhere between 4- 5.5 million or possibly lower if the tax benefits start to kick in.

About the M.G. Car Brand

M.G. is a British Automotive marque founded by Cecil Kimber in the 1920s, and M.G. Car Company Limited was the British sports car manufacturer that made the marque famous.

Best known for its ‘midget’ open two-seater sports cars, M.G. also produced saloons and coupés, with engines up to three liters in size. The marque is now owned by Chinese automotive giant SAIC Motor Corporation Limited.

M.G. cars had their roots in a 1920s sales promotion sideline of Morris Garages, a retail sales and service center in Oxford belonging to William Morris. The business’s manager, Cecil Kimber, modified standard production Morris Oxfords and added M.G. Super Sports to the plate at the nose of the car.

A separate M.G. Car Company Limited was incorporated in July 1930. It remained Morris’s personal property until 1 July 1935, when he sold it to his holding company, Morris Motors Limited.

In the fight against COVID-19, Samsung is one of the brands that has gone out-of-the-box. The tech titan has now designed a designated application for its range of Galaxy Watch smartwatches.

The application will remind the wearers to regularly wash their hands after intervals, which can be modified within the app’s setting. The application will be available for:

According to a recent study by the University College London, washing hands 6-10 times a day is optimum plus additional hand washes after toilet visits and before eating.

Samsung commented on the release of its app, saying:

Lego Takes A Firm Stand In Support Of #BlackLivesMatter Movement

Corporate brands are coming together to support the Black Lives Matter movement, the latest to join the bandwagon is Lego. The toy production company is taking a firm stand in helping the people and the organizations working for the Black lives matter movement.

Lego announced on Wednesday through Twitter that it will be donating $4 million to organizations dedicated to supporting black children. Not only this, but it has also decided to stop marketing for toy police characters and police-themed toy sets.

Lego Pledges Support to the Black Lives Matter Movement!

A spokesperson for Lego responded to digital publication, Toy Book’s question regarding what products have been refrained from advertising as some Lego police sets were still being promoted on websites. Here’s what the spokesperson mentioned:

“We requested that our affiliate partners refrain from posting promotional LEGO content as part of our decision to respect #BlackOutTuesday and pause posting content on our social media channels in response to the tragic events in the US. We regret any misunderstanding and will ensure that we are clearer about our intentions in the future.”

However, it is essential to understand that Lego is not discontinuing these toy sets; they will still be available; the affiliates are simply being asked not to market them for the time being active.

The company took to social networks to post an additional statement of clarification for consumers.

Various other corporate brands, including Nike, Ben & Jerry’s, L’oreal Paris, and others, have also shown their solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter Movement.
