A carpenter turned fashion model overnight sounds something out of a dream, doesn’t it? Except for Waqas, it’s his reality. Keep reading to find out how he turned his life around in a snap.

About The New Model

Waqas is 24 years old and moved to Saudi Arabia 4 years ago. Since then, he has been working as a carpenter over there to make a living. However, Waqas always had one dream at the back of his mind. He wanted to be a model.

Some dreams come true in the most surprising of ways, and that’s what was in store for Waqas. His friend Faisal worked as a photographer besides Waqas. One day, while Faisal was editing his photos, Waqas confided in his friend about his dream. At that moment, Faisal took some professional shots of Waqas and shared it with his fraternity.

Next thing Waqas knows, is his pictures gaining clout with the professionals in the field and he’s got offers! Waqas, still unbelieving of his luck, said: “I never thought of becoming a model in advertising.”

Waqas is now working as a full-time model in Saudi Arabia.

Immigrant Life Isn’t Easy.

Waqas must be applauded for his resilience before he became a model too. Immigrating to other countries is a huge decision, which is equally fierce. Most people often have to resort to odd jobs to make ends meet before they can fully establish themselves.

This is not to say that the work of a carpenter is skill-less or inferior. It requires its amount of precision and particular skill-set. However, the point is that Waqas first had to settle for something which not his passion. For four years, his dream was based on hope only.

Do you remember the chai wala? A roadside vendor of chai in KPK was going about his usual day when his life turned around. One of his customers thought he had killer looks and could become a model. They quickly snapped a picture and put it up on social media.

The pictures blew up overnight as well. People were surprised by his looks, and before he knew it, he had modeling offers. Just like that, his life was changed to. From doing a menial job, he became a famed model in the span of a few days. You never know when your luck is going to work.

Me and Sana Javed have been the best of friends for the longest time. We have been very good friends and we love and respect each other.

He further added,

Pakistan Approves Dubai-Like Ravi Riverfront Project Worth Rs. 5 Trillion!

Pakistan to get it’s very own Dubai-Like mega-city worth approximately Rs. 5 Trillion.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has approved the construction of the project titled the ‘Ravi Riverfront Project.’

The construction of the elite modern-city project will take place in the north of Lahore and will spread out to over 100,000 acres.

According to an official statement, the Punjab government would proclaim an ordinance for the establishment with the Cheif Minister as its chairperson.

The Cheif Minister shared that the Punjab Cabinet will finalize the final approval on finance and other matters which are concerned with the project.

Aim Of The Project

The ideology behind this project is to improve the lifestyle while tackling everyday problems, including traffic congestion, water shortage, and environmental pollution in Lahore.

What To Expect

 

Reportedly, Ravi Riverfront will be divided into 14 district zones. These zones will be summed up with different projects coming together to form a community. That includes:

  • Central Business District

Prime Minister Imran Khan Supports Urban Green Project

From day 1, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has always shown his green thumb for planting and urban green projects.

Reportedly, the premier headed a meeting in regards to the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project in Lahore with the presence of the Lahore Development Authority. The purpose of this meeting was to prepare a  plan to tackle concerns surrounding issues of clean drinking water as well as unplanned construction.

The Prime Minister, in a statement made last year, talked about his vision for future urban development. He stated that these projects would:

allow for more green spaces as Pakistan is one of the most environmentally-threatened countries.

Moreover, he added that:

arable land is being eaten up by housing societies and has grave consequences for our food security in the future

Hence, it is vital to allow the construction of buildings to:

to go as high as in other cities across the world

While keeping all international safety standards in mind.

Environmentalists Think Otherwise

While the Prime Minister and Cheif Minister support the project, environmentalists like Dr. Masoud Arshad, Senior Director, Water, Food, and Climate at WWF Pakistan think otherwise.

According to Dr. Arshad, the Ravi Riverfront project may “put additional pressure on the existing natural resources and lead to a shortage of underground water resources in near future.”

Moreover, he urged the policymakers to give priority to sustainable development.

“We should study and implement the ‘Room for River approach’ as “the floodplain of the River Ravi should be kept intact to address the issues of floods (impacts of climate change) and to recharge our lost aquifers,” he told Gulf News.

We will have to wait and see how the project turns out and if it meets expectations as it was supposed to.

On Friday, LinkedIn, an iPhone user sued the business and the employment-oriented online website from New York city for diverting and reading users’ data from Apple’s Universal Clipboard.

The lawsuit that has been filed against LinkedIn in San Francisco by Adam Bauer states that the company reads sensitive content without informing the user from the clipboard.

What is Apple’s Universal Clipboard? 

Apple’s official site says that Universal Clipboard allows iPhone users to copy images, videos, and text on a clipboard. The data that is duplicated on the clipboard can be pasted to another iPhone or Apple device.

Bauer’s lawsuit alleged that “Apple’s Universal Clipboard shows these (third-party access) “reads” on screen as a “paste” command.”

Linkedin Has Not Come Out with an Official Statement On The Matter As Yet

Reuters tried to speak to Linkedin to get an official statement on the matter, but the Microsoft owned company has not made any public comments as yet. An executive from Linkedin has said on Twitter that a new version of the application will be out soon, which will completely halt the practice. Under the California law, the lawsuit by Bauer has been filed to understand the issue at hand and get a clear picture of the class action based on a violation of the law.

In the complaint, it has been mentioned that the company has not only been secretly acquiring data from its users, but it is also spying on devices that are nearby such as laptops, computers, and other accessories.

“It has been circumventing Apple’s Universal Clipboard timeout,” says a publishing site.

TikTok, A Chinese Application was Violating Similar Laws

It was not so long ago when Tiktok was making rounds on social media for violating similar laws. The newest iOS 14 update has been able to detect unlawful activity these apps on our phones have been carrying out.

Media reports from last week suggest that around a total of fifty-three applications have been reported by users, including TikTok and LinkedIn, for stealing data from their Apple devices’. The data was being taken from the Universal Clipboard by all these apps after Apple’s latest privacy feature started alerting users.

The alert said, “pasted from messages” every time an app would try to access data that was not allowed.

This method is also called the ‘Fast Diet’ and became popular by British journalist Michael Mosley. On the days of fasting, it’s recommended for women to eat 500 calories and men to eat 600 calories.

4. 24-hour fasting or Eat-Stop-Eat

This method is also known as eat-stop-diet. In this method, one is required to fast entirely for one or two days a week. It restricts you from eating for 24-hours. However, people on this method can have water, tea, and other calorie-free drinks.

Moreover, people opting for this method should know that this might be very challenging as it may cause fatigue, headaches, or irritability.

5. The Warrior diet

This method requires eating small amounts of fruits and vegetables during the day and eating one massive meal at night. Which means, you fast all day and treat yourself at night with only a four-hour eating window.

The food that should be eaten is quite similar to food eaten in the paleo diet, which is mostly whole food and unprocessed food.

6. Skipping Meals

This particular method may be suitable for beginners. It involves occasionally skipping meals. In this method, people can decide which meals to skip according to their level of hunger or time restraints. However, what is essential is to eat healthy meals.

This is the only method through which iPhone users can use two accounts on the phone. Since iPhones don’t have a dual-SIM feature, the users can put the SIM in the same or another phone until they get the log-in code.

2. Cloning

Now, some Chinese manufactured mobile phones have this built-in feature that lets the user use two WhatsApp accounts. Here is how you can set a dual WhatsApp account on phones by Oppo, Xiaomi, and Honor:

  1. Install WhatsApp
  2. Open Settings
  3. Open Dual Apps (it can also be App Twin or Clone App on different phones)
  4. Turn WhatsApp toggle on to clone it

Here is how you can do the same on Vivo:

  1. Install WhatsApp

  4. Turn it on so that it shows Display the Clone button
  5. In the menu, long press WhatsApp.
  6. Tap the little + symbol and clone the app.

You can set up the cloned account pretty much the same way. The app will ask you to agree to terms and conditions and access to your gallery and contacts. Then, you will have to enter the verification code.

You can set up a second account on your phone, even if you don’t have an app cloning option. However, you will have to download a third-party app.

Here is how you can do so:

  1. Install Parallel Space from Google Play Store
  2. When you open the app after downloading, You will be on the Clone Apps page.
  3. Select WhatsApp and click on Add to Parallel Space
  4. Then, it will take you to a parallel space; your app is running there.
  5. Set up your account.

Mehwish Hayat Shuts Down Troll Over Hate Comment

On Saturday, Mehwish posted a video message in which she urged Pakistanis to get their children vaccinated against polio. Mehwish took this message to her Twitter and Instagram and educated her followers that the 1166 helpline, which is being used for COVID-19, is the helpline for the polio eradication program in Pakistan.

 In her video statement, Mehwish said,

Tiktok User Aleena Fatima Shares How It’s Like To Be Body-Shamed

Tiktok is the source of several disputes in Pakistan today. There are plenty who pose the app as their reason to live and others who want to have it banned. Whichever side you may be on, agreement with the principle “live and let live” should not be affected. However, the majority of Pakistanis don’t believe in that.

Such can be concluded from Aleena Fatima’s case. Fatima is a plus-sized Tiktoker who recently shared her heart-wrenching experience with bullying over Tiktok videos.

Aleena Fatima’s Experience

Fatima, in an interview, clearly says that there is a difference between making memes and making a self-attack. She is consistently experiencing the latter. Since she is plus-sized, the body shaming and fat shaming are unbelievable. She’s regularly being referred to with derogatory terms like “cow,” too.

Aleena shared that her videos somehow went viral on Tiktok, but they had mixed effects. She added she was more than grateful for her fans and friends developed, but the popularity has also harmed her. Her entire family, according to her, is being dragged in it as well. Her sister-in-law is also becoming the butt of several jokes.

 

She also was upset at how her videos were being circulated in various Whatsapp groups without her permission.

Aleena also asked a thought-provoking question that what sort of an awaam are we? We’re the first to teach Islam but never want to follow it ourselves. The tiktoker’s voice cracked as she was discussing this all, and it’s heart-wrenching. Moreover, she even wished she was dead, so all these bullies would go away. It is truly a sad state of affairs.

Our Struggle With Bullying

Bullying is an epidemic most countries suffer from. However, there is reason to believe that the case is worst in Pakistan. Just recently, two cases blew up on Instagram. In one, an autistic child being bullied by a group of kids older than him. On the other, a merely 14-year-old boy was being harassed by another group of boys.

Only recently, students from all institutions have started speaking up about their experiences with bullying from their schools. The vast number of incidents show how normalized this has become in our culture. Kids and adults both take part in it equally.

What Can You Do?

We can start by not being complicit in any bullying yourself. If you see someone being bullied or bullying someone, make it a point to fix the situation. Interfere if need be. Discourage yourself and the people you know from ridiculing anyone and everyone you see on social media. If you have younger siblings who see that you’re the role model, they learn from you. The opportunity to teach them to be better will stem from you reforming yourself.

Hardee’s Karachi Branch Sealed For Violating COVID-19 Lockdown SOPs

The novel coronavirus pandemic has the world on edge. This is the first time in a long that we have experienced a global pandemic like this.

One of the new properties discovered about the virus from the World Health Organisation (WHO) is that it spreads via droplets from the mouth, which are then transferred to other humans via hugging, handshakes, kissing, etc.

To minimize the spread of the virus, governments around the world, including Pakistan, established SOPs, which were also issued to public places such as malls and stores, even eateries.

However, it was found that despite several precautions told by the health department and other means, many restaurants and shops were violating the SOPs.

On Sunday night, authorities sealed Hardee’s Shaheed-e-Millat branch in Karachi for violating the lockdown rules.

Reportedly, the restaurant was operating after hours and was violating the implementation of the SOPs. It was shut down and fined Rs 300,000 in return.

On 1st July, the government of Sindh extended the province-wide lockdown for another 15 days. Under the SOPs, shops and businesses can stay open, while people can take away food from restaurants until 7 pm. At the same time, the option of home delivery is allowed until 11 pm.

It is to be mentioned here that Hardee’s is not the only eatery that has been fined for not following the lockdown restrictions.

Moreover, we have seen many other popular restaurants caught red-handed on social media for violating the rules.

Earlier, Hot & Spicy also found itself in hot waters for the same.

A video was made inside the Hot & Spicy kitchen, and it looks like they have not received the SOP memo! None of the staff was wearing protective face masks or gloves. Hairnets, aprons, and uniforms, which are standard health guidelines to be followed, are also not being followed by some of the employees, as seen in the video.
