First Cricket Match Soon To Take Place In Gwadar Cricket Stadium

Not too long ago, Fakhr e Alam, a renowned Pakistani celebrity sparked a discussion on Twitter that went viral. He was posting pictures on Twitter of his trip to Balochistan. Amongst those pictures was one of Gwadar Cricket Stadium which he found immensely beautiful.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) found that tweet and shared the photo challenging others to present stadiums that could match the stadium’s beauty if not supersede it. The stadium was, safe to say, in the conversation for quite some time.

But if we were to remember the original tweets, we would recall that Fakhr-e-Alam promised a surprise. And the surprise was a celebrity cricket match, one of the first matches to be held at Gwadar Cricket Stadium. It will be held on 19th February 2021 and will be broadcasted live on Aaj Entertainment.

A New Opening

If you follow trending news on social media, you must be aware of this new stadium. Situated between picturesque rocky cliffs, the ground is located in Gwadar. The outlook of it seems to have been taken right out of a fairy tale.

One cannot imagine that such a place of beauty can have a cricket ground right in its center. It almost feels like a place where hints of heaven can be seen on earth.

This is not exactly an entirely formal match, but it is a professional cricket match all the same. The sponsor behind the inaugural match is EBM (English Biscuit Manufacturers). You might know them from the tasty treats they offer through their company.

Such an initiative is not unthinkable because we know EBM always goes out of the way to give us the experience we would remember for a long time. Case in point being the Sooper Hai Pakistan Ka Junoon campaign where they brought together Pakistan’s most loved band.

Coming back to the current initiative, EBM presents the #SooperHaiPakistanCup where ‘sooper-loved’ celebrities will take part in the match.

Ali Sadpara is a name that must have resonated through your social media quite a lot recently. While this name ought to have been famous before 2021, it became quite viral in the current year. Ali Sadpara is a mountaineer who has done quite a lot of unique expeditions. His travels include Nanga Parbat and K2 both. We have yet to see whatever happened to the three missing mountaineers. Maybe they managed to climb down from another side and are residing at a nearby civilization. Even Amelia Earhart was reported to have been seen decades after she disappeared. Many people have vanished and appeared out of the blue, leaving everyone jaw dropped and shocked.

Let us pray for the excellent health of Ali Sadpara in unison, and remember not to forget him. They are true heroes who have done things not every human can, and they have come back every time. It never hurts to hold hope in the heart, and we must do the same

The brand evaluation consultancy Brand Finance enlists five steps to evaluate a nation’s brand value. These elements are determining brand strength, royalty rate, revenues, discount rate, and brand valuation. Through this process, they calculated and consequently released the nation brands ranking for the year 2020.

We found it pertinent to share the findings, considering the year 2020 was affected by COVID, leading to the worldwide lockdown. As a result, commercial activities and not-so-commercial activities equally were halted. In such a condition, it is essential to know what happened to the nations’ brand value worldwide and who emerged in the top ten. The idea, of course, is to put a dollar value on countries’ brand image.

In 2018, when the list was released, the USA was valued at more than 25 billion dollars. But in 2020, the value stands at 23.7 billion dollars. As compared to 2019 only, the brand value has gone down by 14.5 percent. At the end of the top ten nation brands is South Korea which saw its value at $1.7 billion. And South Korea, too, witnessed a downward trajectory compared to 2019. The change for them was a negative 20.6 percent.

One thing consistent about the entire list was that all ten countries had seen a negative change compared to 2019. It doesn’t say outright that this was due to COVID but considering everyone suffered due to the pandemic, it is a point favoring our hypothesis.

India that occupied the 9th position in 2018 now seats at 7th, so even though covid affected the country, their progress in 2019 must-have helped them retain their place in the top 10.

Strongest Nation

David Haigh, the CEO of Brand Finance, commented on Germany being the strongest nation:

“Germany remains a beacon of stability both across the continent and globally. As Merkel prepares to step down as Chancellor in 2021 – a position she has held since 2005 – Germany will be hoping that its history of reliable leadership during times of increasing polarisation across Europe will stand it in good stead in the coming year as the nation works towards a post-COVID recovery.”

Pakistan’s brand value was 53. This should be a reminder for us to do better and rise in the ranks.

foodpanda Pakistan launches pandago: an on demand delivery service for businesses

The logistics-as-a-service solution targets businesses, using its community of more than 20,000 riders for deliveries

Pakistan’s largest and most reliable food delivery platform, foodpanda, has launched its on Demand Rider Service for businesses in Pakistan, which will be available in more than 40 cities nationwide.

Introduced as ‘pandago’, this service will enable vendors to request a rider on demand, through the website. The service is available to all businesses, regardless of whether they are listed on the foodpanda platform.

Possessing a fleet of more than 20,000 riders, this service ensures an average delivery time of less than 25 minutes for each order. Businesses requiring package-delivery services will now be able to request a rider via a pandago account on a pay-per-use basis. The service’s delivery fees are distance-based, charged over a base fee of PKR 65.

With no additional onboarding and commission fees, the service can also be used as an “emergency” solution for businesses with existing delivery capacities during a surge in demand.

With foodpanda’s strong logistical network in place, pandago will allow vendors to focus on growing their business, catering to a larger customer base while ensuring seamless deliveries. Every customer who signs up to the service, will have access to a real time tracking system that will help them manage their transactions and ensure transparency.

The process has been kept very simple and easy-to-use for vendor’s convenience.  As soon as a vendor receives an order via any channel, they can request for a rider on pandago. While they focus on preparing their order, foodpanda’s rider will arrive to collect and deliver it to the customer’s pin location.

There’s A Dress Code

In the Hagia Sophia mosque upon entry, the dressing of the visitors is judged by the guards. If they feel any person visiting the mosque is not dressed properly then they are provided with additional garments.

Since many women visit the mosque without any headcover, scarves are provided there. Additionally, longer garments such as coats or abayas are preferred. If someone does not have that, they are provided that by the administration free of charge. So the question is if Aima Baig visited the mosque whilst wearing that, surely the administration did not find anything disrespectful?

Pakistanis Disagree

People are not paying heed to the aforementioned logic and find it necessary to give their extremist inputs. Many have resorted to the comments section of Aima Baig’s Instagram and Facebook posts to express their distaste over her outfit.

Our Laws or The Country’s?

Keeping those comments in mind, it is surely baffling that to know whether one is supposed to follow “netizens” or the country itself? If Aima Baig was let inside the mosque, as some are suggesting, then there was no issue in her dressing.

Those opposing this logic mean that leather pants, in and of themselves, are promiscuous. There is no place for that in mosques. Moreover, mosques are places of worship for Muslims and a representation of Eastern culture. Why is she dressed in western over there?

Begging For Tolerance

Even if the questions are asked with good intentions, they are surely not expressed in tandem with them. A barrage of hateful comments, those too that don’t lead to healthy conversations, can be difficult for anyone to accept or tolerate.

Most people visit the Hagia Sophia mosque dressed like that. It’s food for thought that if we discourage people on the tiniest of things when they visit a mosque, would more people want to visit them?

The company offers mechanical component upgrades free of cost for the fuel pump’s propeller motor as per the details mentioned in their post. The propeller motor is a component that has a lot of chances of getting wear and tear due to its usage and since its primary function is to direct fuel from the tank to the engine by developing pressure. It is one of the essential parts of vehicles with a modern engine equipped with electronic fuel injection technology, commonly referred to as the EFI technology.

Jazz further strengthens market leadership, continues to drive digital ecosystem

Traffic Plans For PSL 6 Released & Karachiites Will Be Happy

[Update]: We may love cricket with all our heart but the traffic problems we face when the matches are held in Karachi makes us rethink all that. And PSL 6, or rather every installment of PSL, is an event we genuinely want to enjoy. This time around, however, things are beginning to look better.

Traffic Plan For Karachi 

A Pakistani citizen, Aziz Fatima, petitioned the Court referring to the recent dharna situation of Karachi. She said that Supreme Court had announced then that no roads should be blocked no matter what the situation. The same should be applied to the cricket tournament.

With this reminder, the Supreme Court has ordered the immediate removal of all the containers placed on the roads and has announced that neither University Road nor Sir Shah Muhammad Suleman Road will be blocked. That said, the Home department and Traffic police have stated that while the roads won’t be blocked for the entire duration, they will take measures for when the team is commuting from their hotel to the Stadium.

It actually seems like we Karachiites will also be able to enjoy the match to the greatest extent possible.

[Feb 17, 2021]: This year’s HBL PSL 6 will have to be held keeping in mind the COVID SOPs. The 34 matches will be divided amongst Karachi and Lahore; National Stadium and Gaddafi Stadium. Out of them, 30 matches have their ticket prices confirmed. So, starting from 20th February to March 16th, if you are interested in attending any or all the matches, this article is for you.

As for the qualifier, eliminators, and final, the ticket prices will be announced later. The tickets for the tournament are live on bookme.pk where you can buy the tickets and also choose the enclosure you want the seat in. The website will require your CNIC and mobile number. This is so because the system will send a token number on the phone. The buyer will have to go to the nearest Easypaisa or Jazzcash shop to complete the payment.

When the payment is confirmed, the buyer will get an e-ticket, QR code, and SMS. To gain entry, you will need to show the print of the ticket obtained through the QR code. Alternatively, you can show the SMS as well.

All SOPs have to be followed and was any ticket holder to display COVID symptoms, they should not attend the tournament entirely. The same goes for if they met someone detected positive for COVID.

But as it turns out, the authorities have introduces a special plan for the seating. For both stadiums, the venue will only allow 20% of spectators.

So when the matches are held in Karachi, every day only 7500 people will be able to go inside the stadium. And when the match is in Lahore, Gaddafi Stadium will seat 5500 spectators. Aside from the seating plan, PCB will be following the Government regulated SOPs throughout the competition.

While it may be an innovative solution, it may not be the most practical one. There are people who use lemongrass or seaweed in the livestock diet to reduce this emission. This is solution which is being readily seen.

However, Bill Gate has opened an invitation to quite a lot of roasting online! A lot of people have expressed their opinion as to switching to beef. While this may not be the most practical solution, plant based diets are becoming more and more common every day.

The Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally is another cultural event that many Pakistanis anxiously wait for. It is a rally raid type of off-road race organized by the TDCP in Pakistan. The event is conducted annually, and its track is based in the Cholistan Desert venue.

The event was first introduced in 2005 by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab and is run by the Punjab Government.

First Female Participants and Winners

Maira Malik Awan and Palvasha Sultan are the two heroes who have made their mark in the headlines in the most daring way. They were the first-ever female duo participating in this rally ever since it started. That is a historic moment as it is but the best part is yet to come.

Their victory is huge, which is the source of our pride in them. However, their journey was anything but easy. The race itself is 163KM long, and having covered 3/4th of it, at 102KM, the two ran into trouble that could put anyone’s spirits down. Another duo’s technical tea crashed into their jeep, breaking theirs down.

However, as is said, where there is a will, there is a way. Maira Awan and Palvasha Sultan did not lose their hopes. Instead, they continued to drive onwards with their heart and mindset on the prize. And what do you know? The two traveled the rest of the 61KM with a broken car.

New Study Shows Eye Abnormalities In Recovered COVID-19 Patients

COVID came into the world and was here to stay. We had to find a balance amidst the chaos, and what we found is now being termed as the ‘new normal’. But even before we achieved it, the scientists had to get on to the case of covid because by understanding the virus could the hope to make a vaccine and deal with it.

COVID recovered 

By conducting numerous searches, scientists have figured out much about the virus, the vaccines have been developed and rolled out into the world. However, here is the thing; while the virus will protect us from contracting it in the future, those who have already had it, the vaccine won’t alter their outcomes. So it’s on the scientists now to research how the virus has affected the recovered patients to figure out how to help them.

Sufferings of the recovered patients

In the past, conjunctivitis has been linked with the virus. So the researchers decided to study it further. They enlisted 129 people who had recovered from the virus. The participants had to go through an MRI scan. 9 out of the 129, 7% had irregular readings, nodules on the back of the eye.

Now, this is not that drastic of a number. But here is the crucial detail. Eight out of those participants had been in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Moreover, most of these 9 had other conditions as well. For instance, 6 of them were obese, 2 had hypertension, and 2 had diabetes.

 

The reasoning 

We also need to note that when in ICU, 7 of them spent time in the prone position and were intubated. The main goal of the doctors is to keep the patient alive; everything else is secondary.

Dr. Claudia F.E. Kirsch, division chief, neuroradiology at Northwell Health in New York, said, “The first goal is to get patients to breathe on their own and reduce the viral load. Prevention would be ideal so that patients don’t contract the disease at all. Handwashing and all the basics are also important, but we are still learning about what happens to the eye.”

However, it’s after they have recovered that the consequences reveal themselves. So, in this case, because of the veins near the eyes getting inadequate drainage thanks to the prone position of the patients for long hours, eyes become inflamed

Weinback further explained that it would have some amount of customizability, showing notifications via bar and icons. Moreover, notifications would pop up as normal, but the screen wouldn’t light up in turn. Instead, the display would show something similar to what we have now, though a bit dimmer and “only temporarily.”

Apple’s Problems

As much as we love iPhones, their batteries are a huge issue. With every notification, the phone keeps lighting up and draining the battery. A solution of that has been to keep the phone face-down. Weinbach believes that the iPhone 13 version of AOD will take a much more minimal approach. After all, it has to distinguish itself. 

It is an interesting feature no doubt and could reduce iPhone problems a lot. However, this rumour is yet to be confirmed by Apple authorities. Whether AOD will get Apple-ized or not, tech critics and experts believe that Apple is working on something similar. The iPhone 13 is said to be revolutionary and this feature might just take it to the next level.

Why Is Nissan No Longer Interested In The Apple Car Project?

[Update]: Nissan had expressed interest in the Apple Car project after the talks with Hyundai fell through. The project would have been an initiative by the tech company, Apple, to venture into the auto industry, by making an Electric car. But after Hyundai, Nissan has also backed out of it.

As per the speculations, the tech giant wants to make sure that the car is called ‘Apple Car’. And, the auto companies find it degrading because due to the name of the project, their presence in it seems like that of a hardware supplier. As a result, other car manufacturers are also scared of becoming involved in the project because they think they will only be a side player in a story where Apple is the protagonist.

There was news about Apple Inc willing to invest in the electric vehicles market. The American-based global tech giant has no prior experience in building electric cars but has been focusing on expanding its expertise and collaborate with the well-reputed giants of other industries and integrate its technology into a joint venture.

Apple And The Collaboration With Hyundai Which Could Not Go Through

Despite everything, Apple does not have the experience to manufacture cars. To tackle this issue, the company intended to collaborate with South Korean multi-national car manufacturer, Hyundai which could not be proceeded as the company was focused on releasing its own range of smart cars called “Ioniq” whose new car named “Ioniq 5” is expected to release soon.

Apple And The Collaboration With KIA Motors:

As per rumors, Apple then had talks with KIA Motors, which Hyundai also owns, and even expressed an interest to invest $3 Billion. The report published online lead to a surge in the share price of KIA, which got to the highest price after a 14.7% increase since 1997 after a report claimed that manufacturing would start in the Seoul-based multinational automotive manufacturer’s plant in Georgia.

There were also rumors suggesting that a deal will go through between Apple and KIA Motors by the third week of February. The company will agree to manufacture 100,000 units of cars per year from the year 2024 as per sources who gave this information to Bloomberg.

Nissan Expressing Interest To Work With Apple:

American newspaper, The Wall Street Journal reported that Nissan is interested in collaborating with Apple Inc. CEO of Nissan Motors Makoto Uchida expressed an interest in collaborating with other companies who were better experienced and well-versed in different technologies. While the company did not specify Apple, experts say that this statement was a hint to Apple by Nissan to express their interest in a possible joint venture.

Apple has neither confirmed nor denied these rumors; however, the amount of reporting on this particular news confirms that something is undoubtedly underworked at Apple Headquarters. Last year, there were reports about Apple intending to release an electric car in 2021. Hyundai Motors denied the rumors of cars being manufactured with Apple.

It is clear that there is an eagerness from Apple to expand its ventures and go beyond smartphone manufacturing. However, only time will tell what they have in store for us in the future.
