Plus, Bushra, Aamir Liaquat’s ex-wife also took to Twitter that he divorced her because his second wife asked him to. And now, since a new woman has entered the rumor box, people started to reason that she might influence Aamir to divorce Tuba.

Cashing on these speculations, a blog took to Twitter announcing Aamir Liaquat’s divorce. It is highly likely that this was a clickbait tactic to attract traffic.

1+1 Made A Big Fat ‘NO’

Whoever created this dish is not a creative genius. Rather, they are evil genius. Perhaps they were intoxicated and not in the normal, logical and rational state of mind. What makes one think that “I should combine sabzi ka salan with Gulab Jamun – people will like it a lot”?

In this case, 1+1 did not equal 2. It equalled a horrifying mutation that must be eliminated before it contaminates future generations. Aside from just sounding terrifying, how does this delicacy even work? Gulab Jamun is so soft to touch they crumble at the slightest of pressures. How can one make a proper sabzi ka salan out of them?

Some Taste Pairings Are Not Meant To Be

We grant you, yes we all have weird food combos we love. Ice cream and fries work. Biryani and meethe chawal together work. But under no circumstances will we accept the sweet and velvety taste of Gulab Jamun to be marred by curry.

This reporter of PNN news tried his best to explain why women must cover themselves. The result? He looked embarrassing, sounded nonsensical, and proved all the reasons why women fight against patriarchy.

The Wrapper Toffee Analogy

This reporter went on length to talk about women as toffies. Holding two toffies in his hand, he unwraps one while leaving the other covered. According to him, the unwrapped toffee is exposed to all the “bacteria, viruses” on the road while the other will remain protected.

Nobody will want to have the exposed toffee! However, the covered toffee can be had by everyone.

Women Are Just Like That

He continues on the same wavelength and asserts that this is just how women are. When a woman is covered i.e. wears fuller clothing and all, she can remain protected. She will be able to defend herself. However, when the woman wears scarce clothing, she will not be able to defend herself. She is now exposed to all the unseen dirt on the road.

So, basically he’s saying ladies are the toffees and men are bacteria, germs, mosquitoes etc etc.😂🤣

He’s Not Wrong About Everything

This reporter wasn’t wrong about everything in his analogy. One thing he got spot-on was that men are bacteria and viruses. He likened men to flies and pests that won’t leave uncovered food alone. We can grant him this.

This reporting is also hilarious because he fails to acknowledge how he implicates himself in his words. Should someone ask him what type of bacteria and virus he is? Has he landed on any uncovered food or is he a robot?

No Standard of Journalism

The unfortunate truth is that his virality might get him a promotion at PNN. His seniors, probably and most definitely all men will be very proud to hear his remarks. Most men, fathers, and religious clerics will agree with his logic.

It is because of such incidents that we witness a decline in the standard of journalism in Pakistan. Said views are an example of personal bias and opinions being asserted on national television which is never invited. There should be proper training and tests of reporters and broadcasters before they join their positions.

They are a part of the Pakistan army and certainly live up to their name. They are considered as one of the most competent wings in the world.

The world has seen quite a lot of conflicts and operations over the years. From world wars to gulf wars, everything has taken place. However, in the middle of some of them, the SSG was present. They were sent to make sure the conflict was won. Their existence signifies how far courageous individuals are willing to go. 1. Rock Solid Routine

The SSG Commandos have what we may call a rock-solid routine. They are punctual to the dot and never miss an appointment for anything. This includes training exercises, drills, or lunch. The Google Fi Is Soon To Roll Out VPN To iPhone Users Worldwide

Google that primarily accommodates android users, it is rare to see that entity accommodating iPhones. In recent news, Google Fi, the built-in virtual private network (VPN) that Google’s MVNO had been offering, will be available for iPhone users as well.

Google Fi – History

Google Fi was introduced in November 2018. Initially, it was only for Pixel devices but after a year it expanded to all android phones. The feature was introduced alongside an enhanced network option to enable secure connection and automatic shift to mobile data in case of poor wif-fi. The announcement for expanding into iOS (iPhones) was made in February 2021, almost two and a quarter years later of its first introduction.

The benefits of having a VPN include a shielded IP address. Moreover, numerous third parties are also unable to see what you are browsing through when on unsecured sites. In 2021, this has become an important feature considering the number of sites looking to steal your data.

Google – IOS

The feature rolled out yesterday but for a limited group. It will soon be rolled out ‘almost’ all over the world in a few weeks

The Google Fi VPN is available in the following countries:

Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, US, US Minor Outlying Islands, and Virgin Islands

To avail it, you will have to update the Fi companion app on the App Store to its version 3.5. You will then have to go to the main “Account” tab where you will find the “Phone Settings” section. In the phone settings, you will go to the “Privacy & Security” menu, initially, it was just “Privacy”. You will have the power to switch on or off your VPN from there by tapping on the “Protect your online activity” option.

To manage it, you will have to enter your verification code as required by the phone; this could be your passcode/fingerprint/Face ID. “VPN” will be seen in the top status bar on the phone.

MG has been one of the fastest rising car brands in Pakistan. Their vehicles deliver quality without compromise. Not to mention the loss they must have faced when the MG loaded truck toppled. This shows that they are working tirelessly despite the obstacles they face. In recent news, we have just found out something about the MG ZS vehicles.

The electric variant of the MG ZS has gotten quite popular recently. It is referred to as the MG ZS EV. The final letters state that this is an electric vehicle. This means that the vehicle has functionality quite beyond combustion engines. However, until now, the vehicle wasn’t heard of, from Pakistan. Now, it seems that it might be seen on the roads sooner than expected.

MG ZS EV Incoming

From reports and a post by Javed Afridi, the production of this vehicle has started. In a recent tweet, he showed the vehicle moving off the assembly line. This points towards the production of this vehicle on a local level. However, that is not the only thing to note here. The MG ZS EV is, allegedly, being produced on a mass scale. We don’t have to worry about the vehicle running out of stock. This is because the number of them being produced is quite high.

This opens up a lot of opportunities for electric vehicles in Pakistan. We have quite a distance to cover when it comes to the electric era but we are progressing. The MG ZS EV might just be one of the greatest things to happen to our vehicle industry. Not only is the production local, but it is also the first for electric cars. MG ZS EV is the first vehicle to be locally mass-produced!

Moving Up In Automobiles

The specifications on this vehicle are quite impressive. The motor is mounted on the front axle and it produces about 140hp. Additionally, the whole setup is powered by a 44.5kWh, which gives it quite a lot of room for running. You can easily dish out a whole lot of kilometres before your car runs out of charge. The age is new and the stations are less but it’s possible to run the car for quite a distance.

If we talk about the price of the vehicle, then you may be taken aback a bit. The MG ZS EV is expected to be sold for about Rs.6.85 million. Yes, the price number is staggering but the vehicle does not have a combustion engine either. The price gap between the EV version and the petrol one is Rs.2.7 million. Since this is a hefty investment, it will take a lot of thinking before a vehicle is bought.

HBO Intern Makes A Major Mistake In Email, Gets Unexpected Support

When you catch a major mistake by a brand, the first words out of our mouths are, ‘Oh, someone’s getting fired.’ Knowing that making a mistake is stressful for employees, especially interns, most of Twitter rallied in support of the HBO intern after the recent event.

What had happened was that the intern at HBO Max rolled out an email accidentally. It was sent to a number of its 44 million subscribers. The recipients were initially confused so they started sharing screenshots of it online. HBO Max immediately took notice. They responded with a tweet clarifying the situation. It was mentioned that the intern had done it and that they were helping them through it.

Some of these tweets were most definitely hilarious and some just incomprehensible. How can a company let go of adding a murdersome tone description to something as light hearted as sponge on?

As someone who has already made their first major mistake, I can definitely attest to this. It does seem like the world would end, or that you would get fired but that does not happen. The first major mistake serves as your initiation into the ranks. It is the mistake that makes you bolder. You become more comfortable at taking risks. At the same time, however, it tells you the limits of what you shall not cross. And as an employee, you make sure you stay well within the limits.

IKEA Wins The Internet After Launching ‘Christiano’ Water Bottle

Last week Christiano Ronaldo and Coca-cola both made the headlines regarding the cola controversy when Ronaldo replaced the bottle of soda with water. Hence, he encouraged people to drink water instead of soft drinks while saying “agua” (water in English). The result of this was Coca-cola losing billions of dollars and the value in shares.

IKEA Leads The Controversy

Now, a significant home accessory and furniture brand IKEA Canada is taking its marketing to another level by selling a water bottle named after the footballer. The furnishing giant is selling the bottle under the name of “Christiano” for $1.99. The bottle is sustainable, which means it can be reused for water purposes only, as the label states.

The message was not clear enough; the IKEA handles also tags the footballer under the hashtag #euro2020. The post captions, “Drink water, sustainably.”

The Swedish retailer made sure to label the bottle ‘for water only’ to support Ronaldo’s disdain towards high-sugar beverages.

IBA Karachi Organizes CEO Forum On ‘After COVID: What Have We Learnt?’

June 23, 2021: The IBA Karachi organized a dialogue on “After COVID: What have we learnt?” at the IBA City Campus. The discussion was conducted under the dialogue series ‘CEO Forum’. The dialogue was moderated by Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director, IBA Karachi who was in conversation with business and media professionals, including Mr. Khalid Mahmood, CEO, Getz Pharma; Mr. Dinshaw B. Avari, Executive Director, Avari Towers Limited; Mr. Azhar Abbas, Managing Director, Geo News; Ms. Huma Adnan, Creative Director, Craft Stories and Fnk Asia; and Mr. Kashan Hasan, CEO, Reckitt Benckiser Pakistan Limited. The speakers actively communicated the challenges they faced in the pandemic and the silver linings that came with it. Attendees included industrialists, business professionals, students, faculty, media personnel, academicians, members from the corporate sector and diplomats.

The dialogue shed light on how the pandemic has changed the nature of doing business and subsequently the economic landscape of the country.

Dr. Zaidi, setting the tone of the session enquired if the world is in a post-Covid or post-vaccination phase? Mr. Mehmood responded by highlighting the need for more spending on primary healthcare and stated that Pakistan should not be celebrating as Covid has not been defeated. “We are sitting on a time bomb with only 3% of the population vaccinated and herd immunity is not attainable before 70% vaccinations are carried out.” He also mentioned the aplenty opportunities that have surfaced due to the pandemic and with a robust pharmaceutical industry, Pakistan can do much more to tap on the breakthroughs it can make in the field of vaccine manufacturing.

Mr. Avari, hailing from the industry hit the worst due to the pandemic, spoke about the economic and non-economic challenges the hospitality industry faced and the learning opportunities that came with it. “It has always been instilled in us to help the marginalized, but we don’t want to advertise it. We didn’t lay off any employee even though the travel industry has been decimated,” he said. He also touched upon the dearth of safety nets in Pakistan making it the responsibility of the organizations to cater to the needs of their employees. But he pointed out the learning for his team which is the opportunity to devise synergies through centralizing of various departments.

Talking about the changing dynamics of the media, Dr. Zaidi questioned Mr. Abbas about what has changed in his workplace. Highlighting journalism’s different nature of work, Mr. Abbas mentioned the challenges that arose due to work from home being implemented as sending reporters to get stories was a huge concern. But the most important concern was how to maintain a balance between keeping people informed while ensuring that the shared information does not create panic amongst the public. Speaking about the gains made during the pandemic, he spoke about adaptability being key to the changing sphere of traditional media. “We created the first virtual newsroom of Pakistan,” he mentioned a key outcome of working remotely for his team, a sphere, where different teams work in shifts from various cities and collaborate with each other virtually. He mentioned that print media during this period, has suffered locally as well as internationally while television has grown immensely.

When it comes to the world of creatives, Ms. Adnan shared that the designers believe in change and without change, there is no design. Talking about the overnight change her line of work had to go through was no less than a 360-degree shift with supply chains being affected majorly. Going forward, she stated, “We need to change all integrated aspects of doing business. Multitasking was the only way to survive. Believing in change, we adapted to newer circumstances.”

Mr. Hasan’s organization was crucial in the crisis with its range of products being in high demand. Shedding light on the avenues which have evolved over the past year, he shared how his organization is progressing. “We worked a lot towards localization. Even though we have been lucky so far but we cannot be complacent, instead we need to learn to adapt as there have been some permanent changes made in the world.”

The dialogue concluded with a Q&A session between the speakers and the audience.

You know that meme? ‘Name a better duo we’ll wait?’ Well, it appears we now have another iconic duo speaking for women and it’s none other than our Premier and Khalil-ul-Rehman. *Trigger warning: mention of r*pe.

Premier’s Statements

Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement in a recent interview has left the majority of the country shocked, devastated, and uncomfortably angry. The other half is in agreement with him and feels at rest, “finally someone said the right thing”.

The statement that divided the country in two was over rape.

When the interviewer asked him if women’s clothes had any effect/relationship to the rape epidemic spreading across the country, Khan had a disappointing and uninformed answer. He stated something song the lines of when women wear few clothes, it tempts men. Those men who are not tempted to rape are robots. In a sad turn of events, PM was asked a trick question and he very severely failed the trick.

Khalil-Ur-Rehman Agrees

Khalil-Ur-Rehman and his problematic statements are like gum that sticks on your hair. Once it gets there, it just won’t seem to come off. You have to cut the hair strand entirely to dispose of it.

This time the misogynistic director said he completely agrees with PM. He salutes him! He must be a father and his inner fatherhood prompted him to say such things. Granted that PM’s comments were focused on raising children better, Khalil-ur-Rehman should be asked only one question. Would this still be a fatherly statement if it was revealed that the majority of women raped were fully clothed? Or would this be victim-blaming?

There’s More Where That Came From

He also begins his speech on national television very assuredly. One of the other more problematic things he said was about a corrupt nation. He said that in a corrupt nation, money is spent most on real state and “dou number aurat”.

Now, can this guy please define what an “aik number and dou number aurat” is? We would also like more information on whether there are “teen number and chaar number aurats”.

“Amidst the third wave of COVID-19, we’ve started to neglect the SOPs provided by the Government of Pakistan,” comedian and influencer Junaid Akram wrote. “The virus has mutated into multiple variants and the only way we can get through is by adhering to SOPs. We have to do this to make it through kyun kay Pakistan ki safety ab hum sab kay haathon mai hai!”

The campaign not only managed to make people aware of the SOPs in place, but also narrated tales of a wide range of loss – both of people and livelihoods. Stories from various walks of life painted a picture of distress and just how important following SOPs at this point is. In particular, members from the health community such as front-line workers, along with others from different careers opened up about how COVID-19 has affected them.

A person, who used to run the canteen, spoke out about how due to the rising cases, schools have been closed down, and that had a massive impact on his ability to earn a living. The only way he knew to earn for his family has been finished, rendering him unemployed.

Because he would make vlogs based on his everyday life, people closely follow his marriage; the recent most event where is the expected arrival of the new member.

If you are a Zaid Ali fan, you would have seen the video where Yumna reveals they were expecting. Now, as the date nears, they had their gender reveal party. The gender binary stereotype was the highlight because it was all about whether it will be a boy or a girl.

A troll raised this issue but given he was a troll, he did it as an insult. He asked Zaid, “What color would you use if he was gay?”

Being an influencer, Zaid’s responsibility was to school the person about how he was wrong. Instead, he got down to his level, responded, and hit him back with the same tone that implied ‘gay’ as an insult.

Gender Reveal Video

The question had stemmed from the society enforced stereotypes of pink being a girl’s color and blue for boys. So during the gender reveal party, there were four party-poppers. Two with pink confetti and two with blue. In the end, Yumna and Zaid were to pop a black balloon where they found blue confetti. Through this, they determined that they were going to have a baby boy.

While the troll was wrong in trying to bring them down during their happy time, Zaid did not deal with this in the best way either. Not only did he use ‘gay’ as an insult for the troll but he also brought in parents.

There is one thing we should never do; use parents in the insult. There are some basic etiquettes because once we let go of them, there are no limits to what we will cross and the feuds escalate to immeasurable heights.

Half the appeal of the picture is stemming from the smoke the cigarette is creating. Putting this picture up, he must have felt cool.

However, to also be his usual advising self, he warned everyone against smoking in his caption. He writes in Urdu that smoking is bad for health. I don’t do it and you shouldn’t also.

It was this precise line that people caught hold of. Obviously, it rubbed people the wrong way. “Why are you doing it then?” started pouring in from hundreds of followers.

Netizens are quite obviously upset and disapprove of this photo. To do something clearly and then advise everyone else against it to remain ‘pure’ is nonsensical. Moreover, if one really does not smoke, why take 2-3 puffs for a photo then? None of these questions seems to be answered.

Why Is This Found “Cool”?

For some unknown reason, even in the 21st-century celebrities believe that smoking is cool. They regularly put up photos of them smoking and then would make either some an excuse or deny all responsibility as Hussain has.

Starting from Muneeb Butt who put up a photo with a cigar to now Yasir Hussain who doesn’t smoke but still smokes. What is the message being imparted to youth?

When he denies smoking yet does it for a photo, he imparts the idea that doing this is ‘okay’ and ‘cool’. He influences youth indirectly to also pick up a cigarette for a photo and take 2-3 puffs. But remember, always warn others to not do it and tell them you do not also!

It is through these ways that the youth often falls into the addictive habit of smoking. One does it once to fit in and be cool and then keeps doing it until it is too late. Hopefully the comments section is teaching Yasir Hussain something!
