Yasir Hussain’s recent attempts to be ‘cool’ and responsible simultaneously have backfired. Here’s what the actor is caught in the middle of now

Yasir Hussain put up a dark and mysterious photo of himself in shades of grey and black. The picture must be from a shoot which he is not putting on the gram to keep the flow going. Dressed in what seems like a jacket with his usually coiffed hair, Yasir Hussain is smoking a cigarette.

Half the appeal of the picture is stemming from the smoke the cigarette is creating. Putting this picture up, he must have felt cool. 

The Conflict of Interests

However, to also be his usual advising self, he warned everyone against smoking in his caption. He writes in Urdu that smoking is bad for health. I don’t do it and you shouldn’t also.

It was this precise line that people caught hold of. Obviously, it rubbed people the wrong way. “Why are you doing it then?” started pouring in from hundreds of followers.

The Netizens’ Stance

Netizens are quite obviously upset and disapprove of this photo. To do something clearly and then advise everyone else against it to remain ‘pure’ is nonsensical. Moreover, if one really does not smoke, why take 2-3 puffs for a photo then? None of these questions seems to be answered.

Why Is This Found “Cool”?

For some unknown reason, even in the 21st-century celebrities believe that smoking is cool. They regularly put up photos of them smoking and then would make either some an excuse or deny all responsibility as Hussain has.

Starting from Muneeb Butt who put up a photo with a cigar to now Yasir Hussain who doesn’t smoke but still smokes. What is the message being imparted to youth?

Props for Photos?

When he denies smoking yet does it for a photo, he imparts the idea that doing this is ‘okay’ and ‘cool’. He influences youth indirectly to also pick up a cigarette for a photo and take 2-3 puffs. But remember, always warn others to not do it and tell them you do not also!

It is through these ways that the youth often falls into the addictive habit of smoking. One does it once to fit in and be cool and then keeps doing it until it is too late. Hopefully the comments section is teaching Yasir Hussain something!

Is Apple Working On Making Less Expensive Phone For 2022?

Apple is a sign of status symbol. While you do like their updates, their features, the camera quality but that does not matter when you go to update or exchange your phone with the latest model and a bigger screen. However, they just keep getting more and more expensive. If you are in a similar sort of trouble, finding it expensive, the tech giant has some good news for you.

Affordable yet bigger iPhone

The company will be launching an all-new affordable phone with a bigger screen. The screen size is said to be 6.7 inches; the size that the company is offering in its 12 Pro Max. Plus, that phone was available for $1099, but the analyst at Apple has indicated that the new phone will cost less than $900. Of course, the phone will not come out until next year so this must be a suggestion that the new phone will be part of the iPhone 14 series.

In the new phones, it was said that the size of the screen will range from 6.1 to 6.7 inches; but this is for the non-pro lineup. In iPhone 12 series, these sizes were for pro and pro max. There will not be a phone with a 5.7-inch screen reserved for the Mini lineup. The analyst giving details said that Mini will be going away because it had very low sales.

Apple commissioned research

This might also have grounds in the Epic v. Apple Trial. In this trial, it was shown that Apple did research on people’s smartphone purchasing habits. The research stated that customers are more attracted to phones with screen-size bigger than six inches. And because of the phone size, they even shift to Samsung products over Apple.

But both companies are looking at a slowing down market.

Regardless, Apple phones including iPhone 12, 11, and XR. have 6.1-inch screens. It knows how to keep its users by the hook so just maybe next year, it may announce phones with a screen size bigger than even 6.1 inches but of lesser than $1,000.

How Muslims Celebrate Eid Around the World

Eid ul Fitr is a joyous occasion for Muslims around the world. It marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramazan, in which we fast from sunrise to sunset. Abstaining from food water, being kind to one another and be grateful for everything we possess, are some keystones of this month.

The end of Ramazan is celebrated with Eid – a grand affair during which Muslims prepare feasts, visit relatives and rejoice. Muslims across the world celebrate in their own unique way. Here’s a look at the way some countries commemorate the occasion.

Indonesia

After Ramazan is over, Indonesians observe the tradition of Grebeg Syawal which involves offering vegetables, peppers, eggs and other items terms ‘Gunungan Wadon’ to the people. These items are brought to the Grand Mosque symbolizing alms from the Sultan to his people. Receiving these is believed to be good luck in the year ahead.

Afghanistan

Afghanistan has a fun way of celebrating Eid. Families buy 200-300 eggs. Boil them and paint them in various colors like yellow, red, purple. They then gather in a large open space and try to crack each other’s eggs. The game is called ‘Tokhm Jangi’.

Turkey

In Turkey Eid is known as ‘Seker Bayrami’. Little kids go door to door wishing people and receive traditional sweets in return. Adults visit relatives and ask for forgiveness. They also pay respects to the dead by visiting graveyards.

Egypt

In Egypt, Eid is celebrated for four days. A large feast is organized mainly with fish dishes. Other items on the menu include Fata, a combination of rice, meat, onions and vinegar and Kahk a kind of cookies.

Iraq

The people of Iraq prepare a dish called Klaicha made with nuts and dates for Eid. Iraqis love sweets so the entire occasion is filled with different kinds of sweets which the people share with their loved ones.

UAE

In UAE, the entire country comes together to celebrate. Several traditional shows are set up for families to enjoy. Theme parks are decorated and shows put on display like tanoura dance shows, magic shows, beauty stations etc.

Mauritius

The entire occasion of Eid in Mauritius is centered around Biryani. After the morning prayers, families get together and enjoy the delicious dish as an afternoon meal. 

Pakistan

In Pakistan, Eid ul-Fitr is known as meethi Eid. The celebrations last three days during which people prepare a sweet dish made with vermicelli. They get together with relatives and adults give money to young ones as Eidi.

Iran

In Iran after the Eid Namaz, people go to each others house and ask for forgiveness. It is also a tradition that is there is a dead in some family, that family will be the first to serve food and will be visited first by relatives. They pay respect to the dead by visiting graveyards. The celebration is mostly low-key. 

Saudi Arabia

In the days leading to Eid, people work towards beautifying their homes. They buy new furniture, renovate their houses. On the day of Eid people after the morning prayers gather at the oldest relatives house and have a meal.

Jazz Secures Telecom Sector’s Largest Credit Facility To Support 4G Network Rollout

Islamabad – 23 June 2021: Jazz has secured a PKR 50 billion syndicated credit facility from a banking consortium led by HBL. This 10-year facility will be used to finance the company’s ongoing 4G network rollouts and technology upgradation.

This is the first of its kind facility extended to the telecom sector in terms of the amount and tenor. The facility is fully subscribed by HBL, the consortium’s investment agent and mandated lead arranger. Other banks who are also acting as the mandated lead arrangers and advisors on this deal include: United Bank Limited, National Bank of Pakistan, MCB Bank, Bank Alfalah, Allied Bank Limited, Askari Bank Limited, Bank of Punjab, Meezan Bank Limited and Faysal Bank Limited

As the country’s leading digital services provider, Jazz has over 69 million subscribers and more than 28 million 4G users nationwide. Over a period of two years, the company has invested USD 462 million on 4G infrastructure. The Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Limited (PACRA) has also recently upgraded Jazz’s long-term rating to ‘AA’ with a stable outlook, depicting the company’s strong financial depth in the industry.

“We continue to drive the digital Pakistan agenda by improving digital infrastructure, bridging the digital divide and focusing on financial inclusion. We are enabling societies by investing in entrepreneurship, digital skills and literacy. Police Ad Creatively Targets Social Media Distraction While Driving

Argentina Police got creative with their Out-Of-Home Advertising, and it was an interesting way to capture the biggest issue in the driving world; distraction. And not just any distraction, the advertisement was primarily targetting social media distraction.

Social Crash

Social media distraction is getting momentarily distracted by popular social media apps, but momentary distraction can lead to major losses. It is this phenomenon that the Police department displayed in their ‘Social Crash’.

The visuals are truly captivating but equally scary. They show cars literally rammed into the application icons. For the purpose of this ad campaign, they used actual vehicles. And craved the app icons from metals. After that, the cars were rammed into those icons. The rammed car and the icon were then placed like a billboard sign on a raised platform near roads.

Advertising on distracted driving

JPG created this advertising message for the Argentinian Police back in 2019. But looking at this ad right now, it reminds one of yet another campaign; this one by a car brand. The campaign got random people to take part in the test. They were asked how long do they think they get distracted for. Most of them believed that it was one or two seconds. In reality, it was 4 to 5 seconds. As part of that campaign, they got these participants to drive a car in a simulated setting. While they were doing that, the organizers made the windows and windshield opaque when they get distracted by phones. When the drivers got out after driving, they saw the chaos they had unleashed in the simulated setting.

This campaign and the social crash campaign all signal towards what even slight distraction can result. And this is not mere talk. The numbers are all documented. So let’s understand the value of human life and play our part in preserving it, shall we?

President and CEO MMBL, Ghazanfar Azzam, and Adil Sheraz, Country Director, CIP signed the MoU in Islamabad, in presence of senior officials from both organizations. Marketing Industry Launches First-Ever Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Census

June 22: The first-ever global census of the marketing and advertising industry has now gone live, designed to assess the scale of the diversity challenge facing the profession.

Members of the industry have two weeks (until July 2, 2021) to participate and provide socio-demographic data about themselves and their perceptions of their workplace. People from across the marketing industry, including brands, agencies, media, tech, consultancies and marketing services providers in 27 countries are being asked to take 15 minutes to fill in the survey on diversity and inclusion. Pakistan Advertisers Society is leading from Pakistan with the firm belief of inclusive leadership in a diverse workplace in conjunction with APNS and Brandsynario.

The survey will assess where the global advertising and marketing industry is in relation to diversity, equity and inclusion by investigating workforce composition across the industry as well as people’s perception of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, including uniquely their sense of belonging and their perception of progress.

The findings will be presented at leading global industry events in October this year and a follow up survey will be completed in 18 months’ time to measure progress.

Other global and European advertising associations supportive of the initiative include the association of European television and radio sales houses (egta), the European Publishers Council (EPC), the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA), IAB Europe and the International Council for Advertising Self-Regulation (ICAS). The goal is to generate the largest and most representative sample possible.

The initiative builds on work already carried out in the UK as part of the highly acclaimed All In Census with the aim of establishing a tangible baseline for the global industry, which will help inform an action plan for improvement.

An Emotional Introduction

Aamir Liaquat began his video calmly as he addresses the public on this contentious issue. He begins by saying this is something he wished he did not have to do. His last home was broken, he does not wish the same to happen now.

Sonya Hussyn took two courageous steps recently; one, contacting her father and wishing him a happy father’s day, and two, taking it public encouraging others to do the same. Galaxy Lollywood, one of the blogs, published it on their platform. While this was an empowering video, Mathira chose to use that very post to highlight the grievance she had with the actress.

Mathira trolled Sonya on capturing a personal moment with the parent. She calls it publicity stunt because she felt that this was Sonya’s way of gaining emotional support from the world.

She further goes on to bring about a past moment where Sonya allegedly made really bad comments on Mathira. According to Mathira, Sonya called her a shemale when going to IPPA awards London. She said that she had cried that day and Azfar Rehman stood up for her.

When the matter went viral, it seems that Sonya also got the hint of it. Instead of escalating the matter further by replying on Mathira’s comments, she directly called her. After clearing it out, the actress took to her Instagram stories informing the invested public about the matter.

She said that there were some misunderstandings that she has cleared with the celebrity. Sonya also said that if people have issues with her she is just a call away so please talk it out with her.

At the end of the story, she also called out all the people seeking controversies, to try and hear out both sides of the story.

The CEO of Facebook has just announced that shopping is going to become easier on Facebook. New features are going to be launched that will help businesses, as said by Zuckerberg in a Facebook post.

New features will essentially include the creation of shops on WhatsApp and Facebook Marketplace. These will be enhancements to the app that will be welcomed with open arms. Instagram already has said features and it’s a great thing Facebook is falling in line.

Mark Zuckerberg also stated that personalized advertisements would be included in this shopping service. In short, you could make business pages on Facebook and Whatsapp now that can boom if used correctly.

More On The Development

The company also said it is developing an artificial intelligence feature called ‘Visual Search’. This feature will help users shopping on its photo-sharing site Instagram. What they will have to do is click on items and find related ones!

According to Zuckerberg, Facebook is also working on augmented reality tools for customers in other ways. Zuckerberg wants to create a feature/tool that will help customers try on products before they can purchase it.

Delving into his philosophy, Zuckerberg shares why this is important. According to him, “Instagram Visual Search helps you discover products based on images that inspire you.”

Facebook and WhatsApp’s Revamp

As for how shops will operate on Whatsapp, this briefing was also given. Soon we will be able to view a shop in Whatsapp and can chat with the business before any purchase. Businesses, it was told, must only set up one shop which can work across Facebook. Instagram and Whatsapp collectively.

On the other hand, Facebook is stuck in another issue. The popular app is on a quest to attempt to make it easier for group administrators to avoid and eliminate toxic conversations. The social media platform has also launched a new tool  to help with this. The tool basically allows administrators to limit comments on postings to “slow down” conversations.

Safety Alerts

Group administrators on Facebook can also limit particular users’ ability to post for a certain period of time. Moreover, they can also limit all new comments on specific posts in order to weed out trouble-makers.

Facebook is also testing “conflict alerts”. This feature aims to notify group admins when “contentious or unhealthy conversations” occurs in their group. Through the development of these features, the new shops revamping sounds exciting.

Considering this video was shot from a mobile phone, we can only wonder if it was before he was publicly insulted or after. This is because the last time he was scandalized, Abdul Qavi’s uncle confiscated his phone, and he was also sent to seek mental help by the family.

The reality of the situation

But does this really qualify for mental help? Or was this the easy way out of the previous scandal? This question arises because this is not a psychological illness but the need to exercise dominance; it is about power. This is exactly what we saw recently with Mufti Azizur Rehman as well. These men not only have the male privilege but they also exploit religion given how they have embedded their profession in it.

Education is one of the most vital parts of a person’s life. A nation soars high when the rate of education in it is high. Indeed, a lot of knowledge lies out there. However, one must grab on to education tight. To promote education in Pakistan, the government has decided to introduce a single national curriculum. This will ensure that every student in Pakistan receives the same level of education.

This type of curriculum reduces a bias that is often created between systems. It removes the class system that heavily occupies our society today. We want to make sure there is no discrimination between students on any basis. However, a lot of fake news has risen over this effort by the government. Let us see if we can debunk any of them.

The Details Of The Curriculum

A piece of news has been circulating the internet for quite some time. However, it is false in nature. What some people are saying is that the Ulema have asked for inappropriate images to be removed from the curriculum as well as information. However, this is false on quite a lot of fronts. The subject they claim to be referring to is Biology.

For now, the curriculum has just been made till grade 5. Biology appears in the syllabus around grades 9 and 10. So there would be no reason for the Ulema to say anything in this regard. Additionally, the content of the syllabus is checked and approved by experts before anything is done. The Islamic section itself is being checked by religious scholars.

It has also been said that the curriculum discriminates against minorities. However, one must also take this news as false. This is because the single national curriculum has been made to cater to the needs of every student. It contains nothing that would cause discrimination based on race, religion, etc.

Additionally, the curriculum also adds things to it which are approved by people from all walks of life. It is under development from experts hailing from all segments of society. The purpose is also to reduce the amount of discrimination and create unity. All of this is to be done while promoting education. So, why would they be against minorities?

National Foods Contribute In Saving Nature On World Environment Day

Global warming is affecting the world big time. We continue with our toxic actions in hopes to maintain our current lifestyle. However, we forget that this may be a paradox. We want to keep living the lives we are living but in order to do that, we continue destroying the environment. When the environment is completely destroyed, will that world even be worth living in? National Foods realized that and decided to do their part this year on the World Environment Day.

On the World Environment Day, this year, National Foods Limited took a major step as part of their beliefs of ‘Being Responsible’ and ‘Leading by Example’. To save nature, the company optimized the Recipe Mixes’ packs to reduce its carbon footprint & paper usage by 25%. Because of this measure, the company will be saving a large number of trees every year.

Not just that, National Foods also started a digital trend on the day to encourage people regarding planting trees. The trend is sure to enable most people in reducing their carbon footprint.

National Foods passed the torch to celebrities & influencers

Amongst celebrities, it was Iqrar-ul-Hasan and Fakhr-e-Alam. Both of them took to Twitter announcing their pledge of planting a tree. The idea in their message was simple; this was an investment in saving the future and they conveyed it with the hashtag #letsplantourfuture.

Influencers also came together to move this issue forward. Not only did they acknowledge and appreciate National Foods, but they also shared their own efforts for making the environment greener.

To ensure that this effort gains momentum, the company sent starter packs for planting trees to many influencers. The starter pack was not only cute but very utility oriented as well. It contained three types of seeds: sunflower, cantaloupe, and okra. It also had a pot in which you could plant these seeds. With that were National Foods special recipe mixes packs.

The speciality, however, was how eco-friendly the boxes the products came in were. They were made with seed paper! As the name suggests, you could plant the paper itself to get a tree back from it. Isn’t it poetic; returning back what was taken from the nature?

It did happen!

On World Environment Day, the movement picked up the hype and social media was brimming with the relevant hashtags; #WorldEnvironmentDay and #LetsPlantOurFuture were the top two trends on Twitter.

With influencers participating in the challenge of planting trees, it seems much more likely that the general public will also follow suit.

Brands, especially the one with reach to the masses, have a responsibility; the responsibility to discuss and if possible, rectify situations. National Foods accepted it by ensuring that this won’t be their last input in saving nature. Aside from enlightening the general public reminding them about common man’s responsibility, they are also collaborating with the government and WWF regarding tree plantation and reforestation. In the same capacity of playing its role for sustainable environment, National Foods is co creating reusable bags with NOWPDP-Shamil.

National Foods, it is clear, is playing its part. But are we? Are we doing everything in our power instead of dumping it all on authorities?

All may not be lost, yet. Yes, global warming is on the rise; there is pollution; the sea level may be rising, but we can still take on the lantern ignited by National Foods and play our part in saving nature. Remember, every seed counts. So, today, plant a tree for good luck. Plant a tree tomorrow for winning a project. And the day after tomorrow, plant a tree for your child. Keep it going. Even if you lose some trees, or even if you lose almost all the trees, at least one will survive. You will have done your part.
