At the event, test drives were done on a particular vehicle. This vehicle was the MG HS EV. Yes, the vehicle has finally landed in Karachi and has caused quite a rift too.

With the event being held, MG HS EV also got a lot of feedback. A lot of people were seen test driving the vehicle and the event seemed like quite a lively one. Whether you are a fan of MG or not, you would still want to sit in the car and drive it. People claimed that the drive itself was something entirely different. Since the car is electric, there is nearly no sound in it to drive the neighbourhood mad. The world really is moving ahead with electric cars.

The special thing about the ad is that it is for a “feminist” girl. A feminist girl was looking for her match, surely this should be interesting. What, after all, do feminist women want in their lifelong partner? If you have ever wondered that, here is the answer ( a rather humorous prototype).

What Are The Demands?

The girl wants a handsome guy first of all. However, we’re unsure of whether the spellings in the ad are deliberately this way or a joke. Regardless, besides being facially gifted, the man should also be of a particular age. Strict rules apply: he must be within the 25-28 bracket and not be the same age as her, 30 years old.

Moreover, this handsome man must also be financially gifted. He needs to have an esteemed business that would have helped him afford a 20-acre farmhouse. Nothing less will do, more however can. Additionally, while people don’t usually have control over this, this girl is also seeking an only son.

The Special Demand That Caught The Internet’s Attention

Though many demands until now are humorous and strange, there is a special one. Only this demand could have gone viral and it did! The girl wants strictly “no farters/burpers please”. This has left us and all the people who have seen the ad, rolling on the floor laughing.

It is incredible how this girl has an issue with a natural body function (hey, we do too) but one can not possibly eliminate people over this. A man named Fahad Khan private messaged the actress about a request. Without any shame or hesitation, he had posted an offer for her. This user was giving Mariyam Nafees Rs. 3 lacs in “hard cash” if she agrees to spend some time with his friend. What’s sadly amusing is how he sells the friend: he is from “abroad” and a “nice guy”. Buddy, if he’s such a nice guy why do you have to keep finding people to spend time with him?

Their investment should not go to waste when buying such games. Additionally, Halo: Infinite is said to have a free-to-play multiplayer.

This alone is going to reel in a player base that might only be toppled by Battlefield 2042. Now, those 128 player servers are a force to not be reckoned with! Rivalries are quite common to be taking place around us. These rivalries can exist in any industry, between any people. The deal, that we just mentioned, might refer to the one Apple talked about with LG. With the new iPhone release barely around the corner, the company wants to spread the word. So, they have requested LG to sell their iPhones and iPads in the LG stores. However, given how fast Apple is rising, Samsung also decided to strike a similar deal.

They have requested LG stores to also sell Galaxy phones. This store chain that we are talking about, in Korea, is quite popular and gathers a large crowd. If either of the companies presents their product in these stores, it can really boost sales. However, given both of them have requested, it seems they have locked horns over here too. Samsung might just feel they have to keep their product safe and bring it to market first. Apple might be thinking the same thing but we cannot be sure right now.

Tarin Drops Another Tax Bomb On Overburdened Mobile Users

Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin has said the government will now impose a tax of Rs0.75 on mobile phone calls lasting longer than five minutes. This comes as a surprise to millions of Pakistanis who thought that the government’s ambitious plans to heavily tax mobile users in the new budget was put aside after the public outburst.

As per the Finance Minister’s speech at the National Assembly today, the earlier discussion to implement taxes on calls, data usage, and SMS was taken back. But, he mentioned that the government has decided to tax consumers on calls longer than 5 mins.

This is a concerning development because subscribers are already paying 33 paisas on a minute-long call. Meaning every 5-minute call costs about Rs 1.65. Add to this the new Rs 0.75 tax and the already existing WHT and GST, the subscriber will be paying around 80% in taxes on a 5-minute long call.

“Unacceptable development. No wonder everyone uses WhatsApp to make calls now. The government needs to realize that this tax will only overburden the poor who cannot afford smartphones or internet at their homes,” says Ramsha, a resident of Karachi.

Taking to social media, a lot of consumers are citing their concern about this decision.

During the draft bill announcement, the proposal to tax data, mobile calls, and SMS had drawn the public’s ire, with users storming social media with criticism of the government. Many had even tagged the prime minister in their tweets saying that the “budget killed digital Pakistan initiative of the PM.”

This widespread criticism had also led to Energy Minister Hammad Azhar denying that additional duties had been imposed on telecom and data usage.

This time too, it seems the government has angered the public with its announcement. Will we see another U-TURN?

The world is seeing quite a lot of development in the automobile domain. Despite there being a shortage of silicon chips, vehicle production is quite steady. Pakistan is also seeing its fair share of new vehicle entries. Now, it seems we have a piece of good news. Tax exemptions are also going to be done on 1000cc vehicles.

2020 has been quite an eventful year. We are not talking about the release of a pandemic but the automotive industry. Vehicles are entering Pakistan by the dozen and the brands are quite new. From Changan releases and Hyundai vehicles, everyone wants a piece of the action.

New Exemptions

A small while ago, you must have read about the tax reduction on 800cc cars. It came as quite good news to everyone because this means the cars had become affordable. This is all part of the Prime Minister’s idea. He wants the middle class to have affordable vehicles. To accommodate that, 800cc cars are soon to have a 62% tax reduction.

In addition to that, GST was also expected to drop by a factor of 5%. The drop from 17% to 12% is also something which is going to help people purchase 800cc and lower cars. However, now we have a piece of good news to add to this one.

Under new regulations, tax exemptions are going to be done on 1000cc vehicles too now. Since the range has now reached 1000cc, a huge variety of vehicles have become affordable. This engine capacity is something that makes compact and sedans affordable. Yes, the Belta is 1000cc, a sedan and it will also come under this range.

The news is good news for the majority of the population of Pakistan. People might just storm the showrooms and online stores to buy these vehicles. Cars like Vitz and Passo will start to sell by a margin because of the tax reduction. While the reductions aren’t extremely high, they still deserve a mention to the general public. Pakistan is certainly moving forward in the automotive region.

During the conference, OPPO’s achievements in AI were recognized with its placing in seven major Challenges in 12 different contests in total. These included one first-place, seven second-place, and four third-place awards, demonstrating the company’s industry-leading technological strengths and innovative breakthroughs in AI.

The team participating in the CVPR 2021 competition on behalf of OPPO came from the Intelligent Perception and Interaction Department and OPPO US Research Center of OPPO Research Institute. Through the optimization and training of AI algorithms, the teams’ work continues to strengthen OPPO’s AI capabilities and the ability of its AI technology to better serve people.

Eric Guo, Chief Scientist, Intelligent Perception, OPPO, said, “We are very pleased to have achieved such remarkable results again in this year’s CVPR Challenges, following our inaugural participation in CVPR 2020. Last year, we won first place in Perceptual Extreme Super-Resolution Challenge by demonstrating technology that can sharpen the appearance of blurry images and in Visual Localization for Handheld Devices Challenge that makes fusion positioning more precise. The Challenges won by OPPO this year, such as Multi-Agent Behavior, AVA-Kinetics, and 3D Face Reconstruction from Multiple 2D Images, cover more complex and advanced areas of computer vision, including behavior detection, localization of human actions in space and time, and facial detection.”

“These technologies can be used in a whole range of scenarios such as manufacturing, home, office, photography, health, and mobility,” added Guo. “At OPPO, we are committed to making AI better serve people, providing users with more intelligent and convenient experiences.”

Among its eleven honors, OPPO received three awards in the Multi-Agent Behavior Challenge, which assesses an AI model’s ability to understand, define, and predict complex interactions between intelligent agents such as animals and human beings. OPPO ultimately won the first-place prize in the Learning New Behavior category, second-place in Classical Classification, and third-place in Annotation Style Transfer, distinguishing itself from over 240 other participants thanks to its leading AI capabilities.

A Pakistani girl takes to Twitter her recent most experience where she got harassed. She says that she went to Shifa Hospital because she was in pain. Horrifying to know, the receptionist disregarded it all. They even did not care much for what men usually say, shalwar qameez being the guard. The girl mentions that she was dressed in shalwar kameez dupatta.

Elaborating on this, she says that they asked for her ID. Considering, she did not have it with her, she opted for soft copy and she wanted to do it through email. However, the receptionist started whining about problems in email; he clearly wanted to get her number. It got confirmed when his partner started winking at him and murmuring, ‘iska number to banta hai.’ (You have got to ask for her number).

Infuriated, she directly went inside and paid the woman at the counter instead of at the reception. There, she finds out from a female staff member that this was a regular thing at the hospital. The burqa-clad female staff members have to go through similar events almost every day.

Interestingly, there were some other men on Twitter, who are clearly robots; they were horrified at this event. These men alongside some other people on Twitter encouraged the girl to reach out to the hospital admin. Seeing this support, she decided to do it. Moreover, she also updated the Twitteratis about it. As a conclusive tweet to thread, she said that she is reaching out to the COO.

Now, the question that remains to ask is how the hospital authorities will react to this complaint; Will she too get unsolicited advice like the one Lahore Motorway rape victim got? Or will the hospital staff actually try to make the environment safer for the patients to feel comfortable coming to get treated?
