The religious scholar and morning show host is one of the most watched TV personalities. Known for his round the clock transmission and in-depth religious knowledge, Hussain’s name has been linked to a number of media controversies in the past.

Often called the trendsetter for Ramazan transmissions in Pakistan, Aamir Liaquat hosted last year’s broadcast from Express Entertainment. Which Country Will Fast for the Longest/Shortest Hours in Ramadan 2015?

The Holy month of Ramadan begins with Muslims around the world preparing for a month of blessings by observing fast from beforeFajr (sunrise) till Maghrib (Sunset).

With passing years, as the month of Ramadan falls during the summer season, it’s getting increasingly challenging for Muslims of the subcontinent and Gulf regions to observe fasts in the scorching heat.

Others across the world who have better weather conditions have to observe fasts for a longer number of hours, as the days of summer continue to stretch through June and July.

This year, the shortest average length of fasting around the world will be observed by the Muslims of Punta Arenas, Chile who will observe patience and self-restraint and abstain from eating and drinking anything for 9 hours and 43 minutes.

Muslims in the southern hemisphere, residing in Australia and Brazil will observe slightly longer fasts of average 11 and 12 hours, while Muslims in South Asia and Saudi Arabia will have a tougher time with the summer heat and fasts, 14 to 15 hours long on average.

However, the longest fasting hours will be experienced by people up north in England and Germany for 19 hours, Alaska and Sweden for an average 20 hours and Iceland for an extremely long period of 22 hours.

Such long fasting hours make it difficult for Muslims to stay healthy during the month of Ramadan. Due to this, some Islamic scholars have declared a fatwa, which allows Muslims in such countries to follow the fast timings of Mecca rather than their own residential countries.

While some do adopt the alternative fast timings, steadfast Muslims continue to show their perseverance in the name of religion and follow the actual Shariah (Islamic) rules.

PAF Plans to Introduce JF17 Thunder Block III by 2016

Pakistan Air Force has just started working on a project to create the JF-17 Thunder Block III version of the multi-purpose fighter jet.

After the success of PAF’s JF-17 thunder fighter in International Paris show, PAF has already begun working on Block III which will be launched in 2016. Talking about development and success, PAF has already set standards in the International Paris Air Show, when Pakistan cracked a deal to secure its first ever export order for the JF17 Thunder fighter.

As compared to Block II, the JF-17 Block III version will be the fighter jet that you could have only dreamed of. The multi-role fighter jet will be one of its kinds, which will be inducted in Air force in 2016. The differentiating factor about this jet is that it will enable the pilots to see all the required data on their helmet- screens.

The initial work of the JF-17 Thunder block II has already started. The jet will also feature a two-seater cockpit option.

According to radio Pakistan, China will deliver another 50 Jf-17 Thunder fighters to Pakistan. Let’s see what innovation will PAF bring to the world.

Pakistan Football Federation President Suspended!

Accused of alleged corruption and mismanagement, Faisal Saleh Hayat, President of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) congress for past 12 years has now been suspended.

The tentative date for new elections is June 30.

According to local media, the rebels have associations with the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) which raise the prospect of a possible ban under FIFA rules against political interference in football.

Moreover, the issue further heated up during the elections for Punjab Football Associations held in April whereby PFF banned 20 officials for forming a parallel provincial body to rival the official one.

During the congress held in Islamabad on Tuesday, most officials convoked and collectively passed an order of suspending Hayat and appointing Arshad Khan Lodhi and Farasat Ali Shah — as acting PFF president and secretary.

As a most expected reaction, Hayat who is also a member of FIFA’s Strategic Committee and a veteran politician in Pakistan, termed the parallel body as “mafia.”

“This mafia is damaging Pakistani football, which is on a strong footing, and through their actions ultimately we could face a ban from FIFA — but I will ensure such a situation does not happen.” testified Hayat to AFP

The event sounds familiar as previously in 1994 Pakistan was briefly banned by FIFA over government interference.

Adamant to not back down, spokesman Khalid Mahmood reported, “We have the backing of 18 of the 26 members of the PFF congress and with an acting president and secretary we will hold elections for PFF on June 30 in which Hayat can also contest.”

Further on, accusing Hayat he said, “During his 12-year tenure, football has suffered badly and huge funds have been wasted due to bad governance and corruption”

Just to get the facts straight, Pakistan was among the top Asian teams until the 1960’s however; due to lack of facilities and government support we are now 170th in world rankings and 34th in Asia.

If the situation persists, recreating our lost legacy in this sport will surely be a hard nut to crack!

Twitter Launches Custom Emojis for Ramadan & Eid

Twitter recently announced three custom emojis for the Holy month of Ramadan. The three emoji were introduced to signify and support Muslims traditions and festivals observed in different parts of the world.

These hashtags include #Eid #EidMubarak, #Iftar, #Ramadan which display an Arabic Eid Mubarak, a glass of water and a half crescent moon respectively. Have a look at these:

Junaid Jamshed Back on ARY’s Shan-e-Ramazan

Shan-e-Ramazan is back for its special Ramazan transmission this year, with Junaid Jamshed returning to ARY to host the show.

Due to an unfortunate controversy last year, it was uncertain whether he would be coming back to host the show. However, sources that were previously hinting at Jamshed’s return have come through, and he is indeed coming back to host Shan-e-Ramazan.

He will be hosting alongside Waseem Badami, who recently resigned from BOL Network and rejoined ARY Network.

Based on the previous year’s special Ramzan transmission, Shan-e-Ramazan proved to be a successful endeavour. Waseem Badami and Junaid Jamshed captivated audiences throughout Ramazan, and hopes were high for a repeat this year.

Nokia Plans to Design & License Smartphones Again from 2016

Nokia is all set to make a comeback into the smartphone industry by designing and licensing its own phones as soon as its agreement with Microsoft allows it to do so in 2016.

Once the world’s biggest mobile phone manufacturer, Nokia sold its Devices and Services Division to Microsoft last year, with an agreement that only allows licensing again in 2016.

Rumors of the company’s demise loomed as Nokia relinquished control over its new line of devices, Lumia and Asha. However, Nokia hinted at its revival by releasing an Android tablet, Nokia N1, in China later during the year in 2014.

With the release, many speculated that Nokia would soon be making a comeback to the mobile phone world and its CEO, Rajeev Suri has just confirmed so.

According to a German publication, Manager Magazin, Suri stated that Nokia plans to design smartphones and license them to suitable partners again from 2016. Moreover, with Nokia’s USD 17.8 billion acquisitions of Alcatel-Lucent and it’s Here technology attracting transportation companies and automakers’ attention, it seems like Nokia is all set to make a solid comeback.

Microsoft, on the other hand, having been stuck at the bad end of the USD 7 billion deal, is expected to write off the Nokia licensing as a loss and go back to its core software business. Added to this is the recent resignation of former Nokia CE, Stephen Elop, appointed by the software giant.

With Nokia N1 being an affordable success, many are predicting Nokia’s entry into the smartphone market a surefire hit too.

PIA Announces Special Discount on Domestic Fares for Ramadan

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced that they will be offering a special discount on the fares of domestic flights during the month of Ramzan.

The offer goes into effect from the very first day of Ramzan, 19^th June 2015. Throughout the month, passengers can benefit from travelling at cheaper fares within the country.

PIA has reduced the fares of domestic flights by up to 20 percent. This offer is applicable to all passengers travelling in Economy, Economy Plus, and Business Classes.

International flights will not be given discount fares, as it was just recently that the fares for these were reduced.

PIA Flights Operations Department’s report states that PIA faces a decreased number of passengers during the month of Ramzan every year, so this is an attempt to improve passenger numbers. In addition to discounts, there has also been rescheduling of flights.

PIA’s domestic flight fare discount offer ends on the 14^th of July 2015.

Halo 5: Guardians

More detailed than any of the previous Halo game, Halo 5 introduces some vertical game-play, something that was lacking in past games.

It would include a dedicated Warzone mode for letting online players team up for huge battles complete with vehicles and even strikes. In addition to that, in the company’s briefing the video of Warzone was showed-displaying a bit of the title’s co-operative campaign as well.

Recore

Created by Keji Inafune from the Metroid series of games, Recore is undeniably a surprise from Microsoft this year. In this game, the players are the last humans left. They team up with delectable robots in an open world.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2

Although not much is known about Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 ,the only information known is that it’s releasing in 2016 and that the original version of the game is already available with EA’s subscription service.

Titanfall

According to Peter Moore, business executive of EA, Titanfall will join EA Access downloadable titles this week.

Xbox 360 Games

Unlike before, you can now play Xbox 360 game on the Xbox One. Whether having a disk or digital, the members of the Xbox Preview Program will be able to play a limited selection of Xbox 360 titles on their console today.

Rise of Tomb Raider

This holiday, the all-new Lara Craft adventure is available exclusive on the Xbox One and today the attendees are getting another look at the upcoming game.

Fallout 4

The good news is that the Xbox One Fallout 4 buyers will be able to use the same mods on the Xbox One version of the game as they use on the Windows PC version.

Forza Motorsport 6

Launching this fall, Forza Motorsport 6 will include 25 different locations, 450 different cars and a multiplayer experience that can handle 24 players at one time. According to Microsoft, the game will have a resolution of 1080p and run at 60 frames per second.

Dark Souls 3

Dark Souls 3 is launching sometime in 2016.Not much information about it is known yet.

The Division

Although not coming out this year, The Division got briefing today at E3 2015. Xbox Media Briefing developer Ubisoft did confirm that The Division will get an online beta early this December. This would work on Xbox One.

Rainbow Six Siege

Expected to arrive later this year to Xbox One, Rainbow 6 Siege’s purchasers will get two free Rainbow games at no additional charge. The launch is expected on October 13th.

Sea of Thieves

In this game, players and their friends will be able to team up and form a crew for a pirate ship.

Minecraft for HoloLens

For the first time, we can see Minecraft for HoloLens. More of Minecraft for HoloLens can be seen at Mojang’s Minecon event beginning July 4th.

Gears of War Ultimate Edition

It’s a perfect choice for gruesome and ruthless players. Although its launch is expected on August 25^th, a playable beta version of the multiplayer coming today was announced on stage.

Gears of War 4

The launch is expected late in 2016. Microsoft has announced Gears of War 4 and showed off some live, in-game footage of what players can expect.

Chotay Qadam By Ali Ashraf: A Tribute To Northern Pakistan

Ali Ashraf’s recently released track ‘Chotay Qadam’ is the second song off his debut album ‘Paheli’. Shot in the scenic locations of Chitral and Kalash in Northern Pakistan, the video is all about the joy in a journey. According to the artist, “Chotay Qadam is a song about endless journeys and a tribute to the beauty of Kalash and Chitral valleys in Northern Pakistan”.

The song is sweet and talks about moving forward with an optimistic outlook of the future. Speaking on the release of Chotay Qadam video and his upcoming album, Ali Ashraf said: “I have been doing music for the past ten years but have recorded my first album now. Reason being resources. I wanted to wait till I could make enough to record an album with an amazing producer and was lucky enough to do so with Jonah Brockman, who is based in the US. ”

Ali’s first album, Paheli is scheduled to be released towards the end of 2015 with 10 tracks. The album is a mix of progressive rock with eastern melody structure and feel. Ali launched his first music video of the song “Zara Sa” in April 2015 which was an abstract video about vanity, pain desire and loss.

Ali Ashraf comes from a line of the most stubborn and eccentric musicians. His notion of music is a mystic divinity that flows through the instruments and manifests through spoken word, connecting one person to another through pure emotion.

Pakistani Movie Halla Gulla Release Date Announced

The romantic comedy ‘Halla Gulla’ is ready to set the stage on fire and join the list of Lollywood Blockbusters. Filled with comedy, drama, romance, ‘Halla Gulla’ is expected to release on August 20, 2015.

The cast of the film includes our very own Na Maloom Afraad’s Javed Shaikh, Ismail Tara, Sidra Batool, Asim Mehmood, Muneed, and Ghazala Javed. With this stellar cast, the film is written by Raheela Mushtaq and Directed by Kamran Akbar Khan.

None of us could have imagined how fast our very own Lollywood cinema has developed. Surprisingly, Lollywood has revived Pakistani film industry with series of amazing movies such as Na Maloom Afraad, 3 Bahadur, BOL and Khuda ke liye.

The movie will be a light comedy, similar to Bollywood comedies Golmaal and Houseful. Javed Shaikh will be seen playing the lead role that of a Don – adding packs of laughter and comedy while Asim Mehmood will be his on-screen son.

Glancing at few stills from the movie, it is assumed that the film features a wedding. Talking about the music, the movie has an array of songs including an item number titled as Ishq Kamla too. The music is by Sahir Ali Bagga with legendary singers like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and a few leading Indian singers like Kunal Gunjawala on-board.

Produced under the banner of SE films, Halla Gulla will be released by IMGC. With the Pakistani film industry on the rise, high expectations have been set on Halla Gulla.

Ufone & Samsung to Establish Call Center for Customer Help

Samsung and Ufone have collaborated to establish an ultra-modern call center in order to ease the consumer experience by providing them a toll free number to safeguard world-class consumer experience and to provide a quick and easy way to get solutions for their inquiries. The call center was inaugurated by Managing Director of Samsung Pakistan – Mr J. H. Lee and Mr Ahmad Kamal, Chief Officer Customer Operations Ufone in Lahore.

The Managing Director of Samsung has said this on the inauguration ceremony:

“The call center facility is designed to enhance the brand’s accessibility, through the use of advanced technologies. The customers can now instantly indulge in direct conversation with Samsung to convey their inquiries and expectations from the brand and its products. It will add great value to Samsung’s innovative products and quality performance, thus empowering the customers to enjoy the latest in telecommunication technologies and perpetual connectivity, on-the-go.”

This call-center will be solely operated by Ufone as Ufone has in-sourced Samsung’s call center and will be aimed at giving superior customer service experience.

He further said that the main purpose of launching this facility is to come at par with the international standards and to reduce consumer’s hassles. He also believed that it is a great initiative and since Ufone provides its customers with the best customer service experience, they expect the same with Samsung.

He said,

“Ufone believes in innovation, development, and new collaborations, which is reflected in this new agreement with a global leader in electronics; Samsung.
