Pakistan Super League is here and it’s BIGGER and better!

It brings with it a feeling of festivity and celebration especially now that all the matches are going to take place in Pakistan for the first time in five years.

Everyone is donned in colorful tees chanting slogans from our favorite teams! But what’s a good game of cricket without a song that can really stir things up?

As Pakistanis, cricket runs in our veins, but so does music. Cricket fans want a song that fires up the inner ‘jazba’ awaiting to be unleashed.

This time around Pepsi has taken on the responsibility to present Pakistan with the biggest cricket song of the year – Khel Ja Dil Se!

The song starts off with the roar of fans in the stadium. You can hear thousands of fans screaming in excitement!

We then catch a glimpse of our country’s star players, Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan who are preparing for a power-house performance!

The melodious voice of our favorite actor cum singer Fawad Khan and his charming smile grab our attention.

We  visually walk down the Hall of Champions where iconic pictures of the ’92 World Cup remind us of the glory . Just looking at those frames, the bats, balls and the entire setup makes us feel so proud of our players who have taken Pakistan’s name very far in their lives.

The Sultan of Swing Wasim Akram makes ‘Khel Ja Dil Se’ all the more entertaining with his presence as he passes on the famous ’92 world cup famed ball towards our current icons. At this point, the pace and beat of the song speed up and you find yourself grooving to it.

We also catch one of the successful and well-known cricketers to walk on the fields, Younis Khan!

As Imad and Shadab walk out to the stadium the excitement level is too high. Zainab Abbas is seen doing what she does best!

With big hits and wickets, there comes a moment when the audience has their heart in their mouths as the opponents require just 2 runs from 1 ball!

Noor Hassan belongs to a wealthy family and leaves an ill impression on Abru in the beginning. Sanam Chaudhry, Noor Hassan, and Mirza Zain Baig’s love triangle was loved by all and Sanam proved herself a talented actress.

8. Khaas

The plot revolves around Saba (Sanam Baloch), a well-educated young woman from a wealthy family background who marries Amar (Ali Rehman), a self-obsessed man, who turns out to be a narcissist, whose wandering eyes are always looking for a new conquest. A lead female character is rarely seen on our television screen and Sanam did justice to the character.

Written by Sarwat Nazeer and directed by Danish Nawaz, HUM TV’s latest play “Khaas“ is worth watching.

7. Alif 

Alif, Geo TV’s biggest drama of the season, is produced by Samina Humayun Saeed and directed by Haseeb Hassan of Mann Mayal and Parwaaz Hai Junoon fame. It is written by Umera Ahmed, author of Meri Zaat Zara-e-Beneshaan.

Alif is the story of a girl Momina, a role played by Sajal Ali, revolves around her struggle of becoming someone she is not and what she does not want to become while everyone around her is convinced that she has all that it takes to be one – an actress

The male lead played by Hamza Ali Abbasi, on the other hand, has his share of suffering as a child, attached to his present.

6. Do Bol

Directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain, produced by Humayun Saeed and written by Sarwat Nazir. Its cast comprises Hira Mani and Affan Waheed.

This drama portrays a sweet love story and also sheds light on the challenges a woman goes through in a patriarchal society. A woman always becomes the victim of sacrifice where she is expected to put other’s happiness before her own. The OST of this drama was super hit and we saw a flood of Tik Tok video made on “Ja tujhay maaf kiya“.

5. Ishq Zahe Naseeb

Directed by Farooq Rind and Moomal Production, Ishq Zahe Naseeb is indeed a welcome addition as the drama has a mysterious feel to it. Sami Khan and Sonya Hussayn (as Kashif and Gohar respectively) are the lead pair in the play, who share a friendly camaraderie as lovers with tragedy looming over their heads.

The highlight of Ishq Zahe Naseeb is Zahid Ahmed’s dual character (Sameer/Sameera) as he’s seen portraying a male and female character and (Shakra) Yumna Zaidi as his confidant. This drama actually sparked a conversation around dual personality disorder which is hardly a part of any conversation.

4. Raanjha Raanjha Kardi

Made under the Momina Duraid Productions this drama serial is a tale of love between Imran Ashraf as Bhola and Iqra Aziz as Noor Bano. The romantic and unusual tale of love has every ounce of thrill and suspense in it.

The character of Bhoola won the hearts of the audience with his famous dialogue “Mazay Mazay” and even after the drama was finished months ago but the Bhoola character is going to be famous for a life time.

3. Cheekh

Penned down by Badar Mehmood – Cheekh is the story of Mannat (Saba Qamar) getting justice for her friend Nayab’s murder (played by Ushna Shah) that her [Mannat’s] brother-in-law, Wajih (Bilal Abbas) commits. Mannat is married to Shayaan, Wajih’s older brother. The case is finally in court and hearings have begun and the plot consists of twists and turns that are worth checking out.

Ehd-e-Wafa deals with the journey of four friends who come from completely different backgrounds and are aiming to serve the Pakistan Armed Forces. Each episode offers something new and refreshing with amazing performances.

Chartered Airline Set To Launch Its Flights From Karachi To Gwadar

A Karachi-based chartered airline is all prepared to takeoff its passenger flights from Karachi to Gwadar, two days in a week (Monday and Wednesday) commencing from March 2020.

According to administrators, the airfare of the flights is set at Rs. 10,000 per trip (one way) for locals and Rs. 20,000 for foreign passengers.

An Electric Car Worth Rs. 4 Lacs Has Finally Been Introduced In Pakistan

The newest addition to the vehicle industry is the Karachi-based company which launched its own range of electric automobiles on Friday.

Crown Group has been preparing auto parts since 1963. It exhibited a number of environmentally friendly vehicles, encompassing motorcycles, auto-rickshaws, cars and ambulances, which it says are energy productive.

The starting rate for an electric car, a pilot project, is Rs400,000. It’s a two-door hatchback with a seating capacity of two individuals. The charges of the rickshaws and motorcycles are between Rs200,000 and Rs55,000 respectively.

The firm says its vehicles will cost Rs1.25 for each kilometer travelled, which “makes it the cheapest” option accessible for transport.

Farhan Hanif, the director of the group said that the two and three-wheeler automobiles can travel 60km to 70km on a full charge. A car fully charged on a 50-amp battery can travel up to 50kms.

Eight Chinese firms have partnered with the Crown Group in joint investments, said Hanif, adding that the company is ready to expand production as soon as the administration implements its electric vehicle policy.

A draft of the policy awaits the government’s approval.

If the government maintains its term on the electric vehicle policy, the customs duty on imports of auto-parts will only be 1% while the sales tax will not exceed 5%, announced the chairperson.

Realme, the fastest growing smartphone brand of 2019 is ready to launch realme 5i in Pakistan. It is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and boasts of a 6.52-inch display. The display has a water-drop notch. It operates on the Qualcomm snapdragon 665 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM.

This phone is a dual SIM phone and runs on Android Pie with ColorOS 6.0.1. Realme 5i has a 6.5 inch HD+ display (720×1600 pixels). It comes with a water-drop notch, a contrast ratio of 1200:1. The University At Prime Minister’s House Is Likely To Cost Over Rs. 35bn

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s plan of converting the Prime Minister House into a contemporary university. It is likely to cost over Rs. 35 billion as modern buildings will be constructed on over 50 acres of land.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar, on Thursday, announced that there should be no pause in the construction of the university at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad. He was chairing a committee for the association of the university at the PM House. Professor Dr. Atta ur Rehman briefed the meeting over growth made on the university project.

During the briefing, it was notified that Rs. 200 million would be expected for the preliminary feasibility of the varsity that would encompass of three centres of quality and eight departments. The university would underline on the schooling of contemporary technology.

Asad Umar explained that there was a dire need of providing special interest on modern technology in order to bring the nation’s manufacturing district at par with global standards.

The meeting also organized the information technology ministry to form a special committee for the establishment of the university link and imparting schooling for utilization of current technologies in it.

In December 2018, Prime Minister Imran Khan, while dealing with a ceremony marking transformation of the Prime Minister House into Islamabad National University, stated that his belief of “change” dates back to the period when he used to reside in Britain.

Reviewing his ordeal on Friday, the PM quoted “change arose in my mind when I moved to Britain and saw their lifestyle, and the residences of political leaders there.”

The lodging of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair was uncovered in a simple building at Downing Street of London and on the contrary, “our leaders reside in lavish palaces,” PM Khan said.

During the conversation, Azmat mentioned that a rival artist had hired a team of bloggers (influencers) to raise controversy against the brand.

To which, Badami replied, “App Ali Zafar sahab ki baat kurahay hain.”

The news was circulating on social media to which Ali Zafar responded with:

Zafar took the help of satire to send the message across. He addresses everyone in the video saying if in case something doesn’t work out for you, or an event (Hint: PSL) is not a success, it is probably because of me (Ali).

He then adds that he also has a lot of bloggers working for him. He is the one who has gotten President Trump elected.

While he is recording this clip, his song from the previous edition of PSL plays to which he responds, “Bund kurday bhai, Manhoos gana phr luga day daitay hain baar baar.”

After MPTH popular drama serial Ehd-e-Wafa’s final episode might be screened in cinemas across the country, announced director Saife Hassan.

According to sources, the shooting of the drama serial is over and there will be no more than 26 episodes.

The drama detail has managed to develop a substantial fan base since it first aired. A tale about four college friends who meet at Cadet College in Murree, Ehd-e-Wafa is about true companionship, love and loyalty.

Final decision yet to be made

However, a final decision is yet to be made and will be done once Momina Duraid – the producer, returns from her trip abroad, Hassan stated.

In the drama serial Ehd-e-Wafa, Shahzain (Osman Khalid Butt) is an established politician, Shariq (Wahaj Ali) is a successful journalist, Shehryar (Ahmed Ali Akbar) an assistant commissioner and Saad (Ahad Raza Mir) an army officer.

The drama is penned by Mustafa Afridi of Sang-e-Mar Mar and Aangan fame. It is produced by Momina Duraid in collaboration with the ISPR. It first aired on HUM TV on September 22.

Fifth Edition of PSL 2020 Raises 5 Major Controversies

The fifth edition of PSL kicked off in Karachi at the National Stadium with an elaborate show of fireworks, music, and dance performances but fans were extremely disappointed with the lineup and the management.

Since the inception of the franchise, this is the very first time that the cricket league will be playing on home ground and expectations are high for fans for PSL 2020.

1. Musicians were not informed about the changes in their performances

The excitement built over the past few weeks was massive and apparently the stadium was packed. Fans across Pakistan were expecting an energy-fueled show but returned home quite disappointed.

2. The Host Mimicked the Prime Minister 

The host of the show Ahmed Godil opened the ceremony after the national anthem. His opening speech appeared as if he was mimicking the PM, Imran Khan.

The representatives of the PSL teams including Darren Sammy were called on stage to take the oath to “follow and respect the rules of the league and to play with respect and integrity, endeavoring to serve as role models for people around the world”.

3. The Extensive and Boring Speeches

Sindh Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah also took the stage and congratulated Karachi for achieving a milestone such as bringing cricket home. He stated that he had asked the PCB in the past to bring at least a single match to the city of lights.

“But it was not possible at the time,” he said.

4. The screens at Iqbal Qasim enclosure and Naseem ul Ghani enclosure restrained the view of 5000 spectators

One of the blunders that took place within the Iqbal Qasim enclosure and Naseem ul Ghani enclosure was the massive screens set up which did not allow 5000 spectators to watch the match in real-time for comprehensive coverage of the opening ceremony.

5. Opening Ceremony’s Director was an Indian 

Regardless of the controversies, the fireworks were spectacular last night. We have not seen anything like that in ages.

Over 350 performers including some of the most renowned local artists including Aima Khan, Sajjad Ali, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan performed.

For the next four weeks, the tournament will be the biggest source of entertainment in the country. Reportedly, 34 matches will be shared among Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan with the six franchise-based teams participating.

Nabisco Oreo recently collaborated with a streetwear brand called ‘Supreme’. It is a very popular brand known for launching limited-edition merchandise.

The cookies are colored Supreme’s signature bright red and with their logo across both the cookies and comes in a packaging which is similar to their logo.

‘Made in Bangladesh’ Smartphones by Walton to be Exported to the United States!

Reportedly, Walton is gearing up to export ‘made in Bangladesh’ smartphones to the United States.

This step clearly portrays how the tech-sector and Bangladesh as a country have grown in recent years.

“The dream of exporting ‘Made in Bangladesh’ smartphones is now coming true,” said SM Monjurul Alam, managing director of Walton.

It is expected that the first batch of smartphones ready for shipment will be worth between $100-200 per unit.

Moreover, these units are bound for a renowned American brand, however, the name has yet to be disclosed.

Top 2020 Entry-level Smartphones Under PKR 25,000

“The US importer signed an agreement with us a few months ago and we were improving our quality before finalizing the shipment.”

After the US it is planning to ship smartphones to Europe, Australia, and other developed nations. “Walton is now producing international standard smartphone,” Alam added.

“This will be a huge moment for Bangladesh and all Bangladeshis should feel proud of this achievement,” Telecom Minister Mustafa Jabbar told The Daily Star.

The company first set its manufacturing plant in Bangladesh back in October 2017. So far, the plant has churned out 60 lakh units: 17 lakh smartphones and 43 lakh basic phones.

Walton is not just manufacturing smartphones, it also manufactures mobile phone accessories including chargers, batteries, earphones, and motherboards.

Walton plans to make a mark by becoming the best Bangladeshi brand in global markets by 2030.

Jazz xlr8, is an accelerator program for growth-stage startups at the NIC, helping them scale their products to the next level. More than 20 startups are on-board with this program, already generating over 1500 jobs while raising over $1.6 Million in investments.

Last night Pakistan Super League (PSL) finally came home!

The opening ceremony took place in Karachi at the National Stadium, followed by a much-awaited match between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United.
