Online Thrift Stores – Are Their Prices Justified?

thrift stores

The idea of thrift stores emerges from the concept of charity. It used to happen so that retail establishments could get a chance to raise money and donate it for good causes. And with the whole world establishing its digital presence, it was expected that the thrift stores would also shift to online platforms.

Online Stores

So Instagram and Facebook, the most popular platforms for businesses, started seeing online thrift stores emerging. With thrift stores, what mostly happens is that the used products are obtained for free almost. Hence, they can be sold at competitive prices, which are still ‘almost’ minimal.

However, Gram’s recent trend is that these online stores emerge, but you will find the goods posted there at prices you would buy preloved goods.

thrift stores Image Source: Instagram

What is the difference between preloved goods and thrift stores?

Preloved goods are also second hand, but the name has been allotted to make it sound less harsh. However, they are only assigned to the preloved category if they have been kept in prime condition, actually loved by the previous owner. Only then can you charge what you yourself bought for PKR 2000 at PKR 1400.

However, thrift store products should also be in good condition, but they don’t have to be almost new. And honestly, it is an act where the idea is that people give some reimbursement for anything that they would like to possess, and the buyers actually feel nice for contributing to a good cause.

thrift stores charity Image Source: Collective Edge

But what is actually happening in the Gram stores?

Or rather, what seems like it is happening on the online thrift stores.

People are going to the thrift stores and shopping at negligible prices. Later on, they take those products and put them up on their online pages at two or three times higher than the actual cost. What someone bought for PKR 2000 and donated to the thrift stores was priced at PKR 200. Another person bought it and put it up on the gram for PKR 1200.

Here is the thing, though. Had this money been actually going to the charity proceeds, one would not mind, not really. But if someone is choosing to exploit a good cause, that is just sad. Keeping this in mind, if we were to answer the question ‘Are prices justified?’ The answer would plainly be a no.

This Kulki Soda In Karachi Is The Next Best Thing You Should Try!

In the latest street finds of Karachi’s foods, here’s your low-down on the Kulki soda many enjoy.

What Is It Basically?

Essentially, it is a refreshing drink best for summers. It is full to the brim with ice cubes and cold, refreshing sodas. However, what sets it apart is the strange pairing of flavors in this kulki soda. The secret ingredient, when unveiled, will surprise you entirely!

kulki soda karachi

How To Make It?

The recipe is fairly singer but let’s get to the secret ingredient first. It’s none other than a green chili! We don’t know about you, but we like to keep our chillis in with our handis. Are you brave enough to dry a drink that’s literally made with green chili?

kulki soda karachi

The recipe calls for a cup more than half full of ice cubes. Squeeze the juice of a lemon or two in it, depending on your taste. Next, as we see in the video, the green chilies are being de-seeded. So proceed to add a de-seeding chili in the cup. The green chili is often also put into giving the drink the “smell” of it. Although we’re not sure, this smell is a tantalizing one, yikes!

Next, you will need either Pakola (if you’re a fan!), or you can have a Sprite or another soda you’d like to add it. If you also like ginger’s taste, add a pinch of ginger to it to taste another level. What better combination than green chilies and ginger?

See How It’s Made Here!

Karachi Street Food

We’ve all had street-side vendor soda before, and just between us, despite how unhygienic it may be, it’s the best thing ever. We take ours with heaped spoons of Kala namak too! This kulki soda, however, is not an innovation. It is a fairly known recipe for a drink made by many, although as you can tell, it is an acquired taste.

The video speaks for itself, be it the speed of those making it or those standing to get it in line. Don’t miss the playful banter between boys and the vendor, usually at any roadside vendor’s place in Pakistan.

This drink is best enjoyed in summers given the combination of flavors and the fact that it is best when served cold. However, if you’re looking for a good ol’ spice kick, by all means, try it!

7 Ways To Discipline Your Kids The Right Way

discipline kids

One of the biggest issues people have faced during quarantine is how to discipline their child. As children lose their routines and remain at home with all forms of entertainment, they can become indisciplined. Here’s how to best go about it

1. Establish Family Rules Clearly

Family rules are essential for each household with children. Establishing them early on and making them clear to your children is important for their well-being.

However, know that children will test them wherever they can. Be prepared to commit to them!

2. Set Boundaries In Time

Several child psychologists have suggested that as toddlers, children should start becoming aware of boundaries. However, keep in mind that they are not aware of the link between actions and consequences at that age.

discipline kids

Let them know gently about what is unacceptable or what is appropriate.

3. Explaining The Consequences, Not Enforcing Them

Children need to link that there are consequences for bad behavior. Explaining them initially in a gentle manner is a good way to start than jumping onto enforcing them.

4. Positive Enforcements Create A Balance

Just as establishing negative consequences is important, so is positively enforcing your child’s behavior. If they have shown kindness to someone or shared something, praise them and encourage them.

Most importantly, children pick up what they observe. Create an environment in your home that is encouraging.

5. Be Honest About Your Feelings

Children are just as sensitive about their parents as vice versa. Hence, one way to curb their tantrums is, to be honest about your feelings with them. Let them know their bad behavior makes you feel upset; they are sensitive to hearing from you.

6. Do Not Smack

Smacking is, especially in desi households, something far too common. However, most studies have shown that children do not react positively to being smacked as a form of punishment.

discipline kids

Smacking may often cause them physical pain or distress, which can easily turn into trauma. Instead, opt for the traditional “time out” approach.

7. Limit The Time-Outs

Keep the time-outs only for serious incidents. Giving them time outs for eating sour candy or not washing their hands may desensitize them to the punishment. This can make them start taking one form of punishment for granted, necessitating a higher form in the future.

Let us know how these tips work out for you in the comments below!

HEC Denies Viral Notification On Social Media For Online Exams

online exams

[Update]: There was a fake viral notification making rounds on social media that Shafqat Mehmood has ‘directed’ all universities to conduct online exams only. HEC has denied this saying it is not compulsory for universities to only conduct online exams. They have instead told the universities to understand their capacity and take exams in the format that suits them the best in terms of readiness which includes but is not limited to technological readiness.

Due to COVID, almost all educational institutes shut down, and education went online. Online classes to assignments, lectures, and meetings with professors and teachers were happening through Zoom or similar portals. But now that COVID is taking a back seat, it was announced that even though semesters happened online, online exams won’t be the way to go. Instead, they will be conducted on-site.

Online Exams Are a Go?

Students freaked out at this and had to be part of protests. The news was trending on Twitter and there were protests as well. Later, Shafqat Mehmood, Federal Minister of education, has taken to Twitter that online exams are happening, and they will occur through a proper set of guidelines. However, not every university has to do it. Universities can “conduct exams based on their capacity and need for a fair assessment.”

The highlights of these guidelines are that universities should opt for open book exams, end of semester written work, and oral exams and presentation. In the guidelines by HEC, it is mentioned that closed-book examinations are being discouraged in the present conditions.

HEC Notification

The document read:

“In terms of approaches to assessment, the present situation requires thinking beyond the conventional methods typically used in our universities. The most common method used is the closed-book examination, which no longer remains appropriate under the circumstances.”

HEC has also notified all universities that they are to announce transparent assessment policies by June 1, 2020. They have also ensured that these policies are on the following basis:

  • No Promotion without Assessment
  • Semesters Not to Be Wasted
  • Consideration of Pass/Fail Option
  • Prevention of Cheating, Unpermitted Collaboration, and Plagiarism
  • Use the Same Method of Assessment for Students in a Course
  • Grievance Mechanism

The grievance mechanism entails that students who are facing difficulties should be attended to by a committee. This committee can be formed of three individuals: at least one faculty member and one senior administration individual.

The pdf document issued by HEC can be found here!

Woman In Multan Comes Back To Life After Being Declared Dead

Things have been pretty crazy in Multan lately. After a video of a child under the age of ten went viral yesterday, another news from Multan is how a woman who was declared dead by the hospital and medical staff came back to life.

When And Where Did This Incident Take Place:

A woman in Multan was brought to Nishtar Hospital for treatment after she got shot in a crossfire. As per sources, the woman could not recover and passed away while undergoing the treatment and was officially pronounced dead by the doctors and the medical staff.

After she was declared “deceased” by the medical staff, the woman’s dead body was kept in a morgue where the woman came back to life. Doctors have been providing her proper treatment, and it is being investigated whether declaring her dead was a mistake or did she really undergo a rare situation called the Near-Death Experience (NDE), where people literally come back to life after all signs declare them as being dead.

Plot-Twist From The Hospital’s Senior Management:

The Director of Nishtar Hospital, Dr. Amjad Chandio, claimed that the woman was not pronounced dead, but someone in the hospital issued her a death certificate, and the issue is being investigated whether this incident was an intentional lapse created by someone.

The incident is currently being investigated, and we will be sharing more as we find out more.

Is It Actually Possible To Return After Being Dead?

Yes, there have been numerous incidents in Pakistan and around the world where people have come back after being dead. The incident is not always necessarily a lapse and has occurred many times.

There have been hundreds and thousands of cases where people came back to life after being declared dead by the hospital.

Check this compilation of videos where people who were allegedly declared dead came back to life.

Last year, another incident went viral where a man named Scott Drummond returned to life after being pronounced dead. He shared his Near-Death Experience, which was met with curiosity and surprise by the viewers. Watch the video below to find out more about his experiences in detail.

Do you think the incident that took place with the lady in Multan was similar to the videos shared above?

Or do you think it was an incident of carelessness on the hospital’s part?

Let us know under the comments.

Sarwat Gilani’s Recent ‘Confession’ Has Made People Angry

Sarwat Gilani

Actress Sarwat Gilani appeared on a show with Mira Sethi and had an enlightening conversation there. And it is not unexpected considering the host of the show herself is an amazing person who is known for her sophisticated and learned style of talking to people.

The Feminist Drama and Sarwat Gilani

Following Sarwat’s statement, Mira assumed her to be a feminist, so she asked her. To which, Sarwat denied it right away. She said she is not a feminist and that she believes men have their own place. Confused, right? So, Mira tried to explain to her that feminism, or rather, the original feminism, does not deny men their rightful place. However, Sarwat stuck with her initial statement, and she added that she thinks everyone has a rightful place.

Mira whispers, ‘Then you are a feminist, Sarwat.’

Find the full interview below:

I think what Sarwat meant was that the interpretation of feminism in Pakistan is what she does not align with. But people picked her statement about her wanting to rely on men and how she is not a feminist and started giving her opinion on that. While some people agreed with it, others bashed her.

Let’s have a look at the reactions, shall we?

Most Pakistanis did not like the web series Churail, and they were not hesitant in letting everyone know. They assumed it to be anti-men, so they rejected the series outright. Some of the audience started hating on the actors who signed for the project as well. So it’s safe to assume that Sarwat Gilani and Yasra must have lost their followers, too, unless they watch the show, that is.

So the Pakistanis labeled this, her denouncing ties to feminism, to regain the lost followers.

sarwat gilani Image Source: Facebook

They also understood it as her not very educated in the phenomenon of feminism.

Obviously, the statement would be enough to trigger toxic feminists because real feminists would not take things at face value and actually do proper research on exactly how the conversation unfolded in the interview.

sarwat gilani Image Source: Facebook

And even if we do not agree with someone and want to add our own comments, it is better to do that in an educated and sophisticated way. There is absolutely no need to bash someone for the opinions they hold.

KIA Sportage Vs Honda Vezel – A Head-To-Head Comparison

The world of automobiles is an interesting one. It leads one across the dimensions of length and time and leaves one wanting more. If you’re a fan of sports cars, you already know which brand to go for. People who love muscle cars either go for Dodge or Mustang. We know American muscle to be quite superior in quality and they have the ability to shock us. After all, it would be quite a boring place to be on earth if cars had not existed.

Similarly, there are vehicles that are of similar leagues but certain differences set them apart. That does not mean that either of them is bad but one must know these differences. Maybe your preference lies in one and not the other. In light of this, we have here a detailed comparison between KIA Sportage and Honda Vezel!

KIA Sportage and Honda

KIA:

We are all familiar with the rise that KIA has taken over the years. Even if we don’t know how it worked in the past years, we know KIA has made a comeback. The KIA Sportage is a vehicle that deserves to be seen in the spotlight. It has features that make it a beast of a vehicle and is worth a drive. KIA, with Picanto, has even changed how we look at compacts.

Honda:

The writer of this article is not even sure whether Honda needs an introduction. Honda is a brand that has always been known for the ground clearance of its vehicles. The lower height of its cars allows it to run at better stability and faster speed. This is also why Honda Civic is one of the best-known cars of today. Even the 2021 variant has dropped jaws. Honda Vezel is now another vehicle, by the company, that stands as a worthy ally.

Honda and KIA comparison

Under The Hood:

When it comes to the KIA Sportage, it is a monster beneath the bonnet. All its variants feature a 2000cc engine, with an automatic transmission. That is one powerful engine, considering its in-line configuration. The KIA Sportage has enough space to house the whole family and even comes with comfortable seats. It runs on petrol and has a fuel average stretching from 12-14 kilometers to the litre. This is more than enough for inside the city and outside it.

When it comes to specifications, the Honda Vezel features a robust 1500cc engine. This makes it no less of a vehicle in performance, though. The Honda Vezel is known to withstand weather and terrain at extreme ends. Its quality of manufacture allows it to run under any form of strain. It has an automatic CVT transmission with a five-person seating capacity. This, too, is feasible for the family.

The Price:

When talking about the KIA Sportage, it is currently being sold within a range of Rs.44 Lac to Rs.54 Lac. This seems quite affordable considering the features it has and the power it holds.

The Honda Vezel has a set price of about Rs.42 Lac. This seems like an extremely reasonable price considering what the vehicle offers.

At the end, it all boils down to which vehicle sets well with your preference. Both of these are worthy runners in this league.

Rooh Afza

A recent TVC by one of Pakistan’s favourite beverages has caught our eye and stolen our hearts. Here’s the rundown on Rooh Afza’s latest advertisement which is equal parts celebratory and sentimental.

Celebrating Life

Rooh Afza’s TVC is an ode to life, simply put. The TVC uses different vignettes and ties them together with the beverage at the heart of it. There are young siblings playing with toys, gathered around nani for stories, kindness towards neighbours and love for a spouse all mixed together.

At the core of each story is a message: life is something to cherish and celebrate each day. And the lyrics add the perfect touch to the TVC because truth be told, they’re poetry.

Rooh Afza – Reimagined

If there is anything that quarantine has taught us, it’s that anyone can cook up a storm in the kitchen. The best part is that this experience encourages people to experiment with their pantry basics and reimagine them. The same goes for Rooh Afza as this thoughtful TVC imparts the message that it is not just a drink!

It can be the best syrup to drizzle on freshly made waffles and pancakes or you could also create a thin layer of it on top of vanilla cheesecakes to create the perfect balance of tart and sweetness. Like everyone else, we’re sure you have a bottle in your kitchen right now too. So, what are you waiting for? Start experimenting!

Have A Look!

Capturing the magical moments

The TVC is an aesthetic delight for its viewers. It has frames capturing everyday moments with soft light and heartwarming vibes, yet this reminds us how we take them for granted and they will become our cherishable memories.

Our favourite part has to be where the grandfather is shown feeling alone in his new home. Just then, the door opens and two kids bubbling with joy and energy barge in with a treat to cheer up their dada who’s sad about leaving his old home. It’s the cutest scene ever!

Moreover, the melodious voice of Komail Anam is also working its charm on everyone. He is an emerging actor and singer and is currently the favourite of many. We firmly believe that his voice and the lyrics only add to the charm of this video— Zindagi Mubarak to you!

Social Media Users Are Absolutely Loving It!

Uniting Nations

At a time when a pandemic and political revolutions divide us, this TVC also somehow manages to impart a message of harmony in relation to that. The perfect ending is executed as people from various nationalities sing “Zindagi Mubarak”. This symbolises the over 30 countries where Rooh Afza is loved and consumed.

All in all, this TVC is the most heartfelt ode to time.

Pakistan And China Are Set To Launch A New Venture

Pakistan on venture with China

If you have ever heard of international relations, you are familiar with what comes to mind. The subject speaks about how Pakistan handles its relationships with other countries. Like human beings, Pakistan also has relations with others, and it is often crucial to keep them going. When Pakistan decided to open up trade with the US, their connection strengthened and soared high. Now, with the country so famous and all over the map, everyone wants to be a part of Pakistan’s rise. One of our oldest and best neighbors happens to be China. The year 2021 marks the 70th anniversary of the countries first established relations. Things have not been brighter on the Pak-China front, with CPEC and now automotive development. In light of this, the two countries have launched yet another new venture. It will tend to focus on the economy even more.

Pakistan and China relations

China As An Old Player:

It comes as no surprise that China is an old player. This means that, if living on Earth is a game, China is a veteran. Their history is rich and full of events constantly changing their dynamics. They have had humungous wars and shift in power. They established trade on items such as tea and tobacco. China, when it comes to titans, is not one to be messed with.

Of course, with everything under its belt, China is still a country continually improving. A new venture has been launched between them and Pakistan. According to sources, this venture will benefit significantly on both sides and allow them to move forward at a brisk pace. There is much to be done and a lot more to be seen from this point ahead!

Embarking On A New Journey:

So what exactly does this new stuff bring? According to sources, the combination of the two is set to be on the agricultural front. Since Pakistan is an agro-based economy and farming for goods is a significant contribution, this is necessary. It will not only help expand our operations but even allow the farming of exotic goods. This can include strawberries, other types of wheat as well as other goods.

This even benefits China because they too have a large part of their economy in the agricultural sector. Pakistan is also moving forward in terms of technology, but it will be a while to catch up to where China is right now. Nevertheless, this deal also means more employment opportunities and a platform for the conduction of such businesses.

Pak and China new venture

Pak – China Friendship For All Time:

So what does this mean for the future of the two countries? This venture is indeed highly beneficial and useful for both parties. Additionally, it gives them the chance to deepen their bonds and conduct even more similar businesses together. China is taking a heavy step into Pakistan with the automotive industry, with Changan and BAIC. It is now time to extend this even further.

We hope the venture succeeds and allows the gates to open for more similar opportunities. The year has just begun, and the night is young. Much remains to be seen.

Models and actors have tons of photoshoots, and each one is more fabulous than the earlier one. But when it’s a sizzling photoshoot with none other than your spouse, even the fans love it. Here we have assembled the list of 4 Pakistani celebrity couples who keep doing photoshoots with their spouse, and their chemistry just overflows each time.

1. Ayeza Khan – Danish Taimoor

It should not be a surprise that Ayeza Khan and Danish Taimoor’s name is at the top of the list. From romantic poses that win your heart and you keep wanting more, Ayeza shares photoshoots of workout situations, day out to the aquarium situation, and so much more. Their love just oozes out from any pose they make.

Recently, a sizzling photoshoot of Sarwat Gilani just went viral, and while some phuppos found it problematic, one has to admire how perfect she and her husband looked. They complement each other down to the T., And it was just hot!

3. Zara Noor Abbasi – Asad Siddiqui

Zara Noor Abbasi is a talented individual who has been proving her name in a challenging context. The fact that she has to live upto her mother and aunt’s talent is a pressure in itself. But she has been doing a fantastic job of it. Coming to her photoshoot with her husband, who is also in a similar boat as her, they rocked it because it is clear from their pictures, they are made for each other.

4. Urwa Hocane – Farhan Saeed

These two have been quite the center of attention with the scandalous news of them parting ways coming up. But the two intelligently made no comments; they must have known, the news would subside pretty soon. And so it did. They neither confirmed nor denied the news, although Urwa’s father mentioned how it is not true. Separated or not, they are still a married couple with amazing chemistry when they come together on the photo shoot.

However, we need to ponder that these photo shoots are part of the job description of models and actors. So it cannot be that their works with other stars are not that great. So why is it that we start swooning over them when they are there with their spouses? Does their work get some sort of legitimacy when they are there with their husbands and wives?

Food for thought! Meanwhile, enjoy these Pakistani celebrity couples’ photoshoots.

Unilever Pakistan Takes Amazing Step To Reduce Plastic Wastage

unilever pakistan

Brands usually want to make money only, and the reasoning they give themselves is that that’s what they are there for. But instead of just focusing on attaining wealth, some brands do try to adopt social issues. The idea is to ensure that the Earth is not in worse off condition decades down the line compared to how the world is today. Unilever Pakistan is one of those brands that has also delved into it.

The Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company Unilever Pakistan has decided to limit the carbon footprint by reducing plastic waste. This is a significant development by the company as their reach is across the whole country.

So let’s see what it is precisely that they have done!

Unilever Pakistan has taken the step to reduce the weightage of plastic in their product containers. The product they are targetting is Lifebuoy’s 375-milliliter shampoo bottle. Not only has the bottle weight reduced, but this also means that when the bottles are discarded and sent to the dumps, the non-decomposable plastic waste will be lesser in quantity.

That said, the bottles are made of plastic, even if it’s less, so it is still dangerous for the universe as plastic takes hundreds of years to break down. But back in 2019, the brand pledged to decrease the use of virgin plastic by half by 2025. Moreover, they would also be removing 100,000 tonnes of plastic from the rolling completely. So this move with the Lifebuoy bottles seems like a step in the right direction.

Unilever Pakistan on Plastic

Their statement, as found on the website, is:

“Our plans to cut plastic waste are underpinned by a clear framework: we’ll use less plastic, better plastic, and no plastic at all.”

It is a big promise, and their recent track record seems like they are planning to keep it, so they should be appreciated for it.

Other than reducing the plastic in the bottle formula, Unilever is also working on recycling plastic to ensure lesser plastic waste is introduced into the ecosystem.

This Twitterati Is Comparing Pakistan To The World & It Is Amazing!

twitter pakistan landscapes

Call us biased but we’d say Pakistan is a country of wonders. The landscapes, be it urban or natural, that you find in this country are equally remarkable as any other. This account on Twitter is levying out proof of that!

Moments and Memories on Twitter

An account on Twitter with the handle of @momentmemori has a beautiful idea which they’re executing. The idea is to put pictures of landscapes in Pakistan next to those found in foreign countries. The best part is that their selection and eye is such that you can not tell the difference in both. Prepare for sights for sore eyes!

Urban Landscapes

One example in their series is that of Washington DC and Islamabad. Both are capitals of their respective countries, highly esteemed and greatly taken care of. This side by side projection of Islamabad and Washington DC on this Twitter account has left many shocked. It never looked this similar before!

Natural Landscapes

This one should surely be the winner. Peruse this side by side display of Tobat in Kashmir and Switzerland and fall in love with the magic of Pakistan. This one is the best because you truly can not tell the pictures apart. Will Tobat be your next vacay destination then?

Emerging Cities

We have all heard the developments in Gwadar and eagerly await its official launch. The city is said to give Dubai a run for its money with its incredible ports and future-tech buildings. Here’s a look into Gwadar for you:

Subcontinental Treasures

Here’s another side by sideshow of something we call home: the subcontinent. Seeing Delhi and Lahore side by side definitely makes one fall in love with the old-age glamour of red-bricked courtyards surrounded by lush greenery. Is anyone getting Jodhaa Akbar vibes yet?

Miscellaneous Musings

The account on Twitter also features some otherwise incredible, albeit solo, pictures of places all around Pakistan. These photographs show us just how much of Pakistan remains unexplored and underestimated. Have a look!

Local Tourism

Accounts like @momentmemori must be appreciated and encouraged because of their efforts to bring attention to their own country. Upon their side by side series, many started complaining that this comparison is in vain. “Pakistan is better.” To this, they responded by saying that their purpose is to appreciate the beauty of the countries side-by-side without any toxic comparison.

Here’s to hoping these pictures will entice us to promote local tourism when the pandemic clears.

10 Billion Tree Honey Project To Generate Millions Of Green Jobs

billion tree honey

We talk about making the world green because of the looming danger of global warming and the disbalance in the biodiversity ruining the Earth. But some bring in the argument that going green is unrelated to economic activity. Well, this 10 billion tree honey project seems like it’s proving them wrong. Not only will it lead to jobs but also bring in foreign exchange into the country.

SAPM Climate Change

Malik Amin Aslam, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Climate Change, announced the tree honey project on Tuesday. He said that this project will tap into the potential of exporting honey alongside generating millions of green jobs. To attract foreign exchange, they will need to put in the effort for proper branding, sampling, and standardized packaging for the international market.

malik amin

SAPM addressed the inaugural session of the one-day workshop and the launch of ASPIRE; National Apiculture Programme or Apiculture Scaling up Programme for Income and Rural Employment. ASPIRE was the most extensive honey beekeeping promotion program in the country.

Amin said the apiculture experts will constantly be guiding to develop the national streamlined program before it rolls out to the provinces.

Launched at the end of January 2021, the program will hopefully yield positive results by June, the special assistant to Prime Minister said. Keeping the results in mind, Pakistan will launch the Ten Billion Tree Honey project.

Details of the Ten Billion Tree Honey

As for the finances, Malik Amin said that the National Bank of Pakistan would provide PKR 9 billion to masses interested in the Apiculture program.

“The Ministry of Climate Change has linked TBH and trees raised under 10 BTT plantation to the state-of-the-art technology developed by the Ministry of Science and Technology. whereas National Vocational and Technical Training Commission will train the interested youth on latest techniques of honey bee farming.”

He also touched upon the fact that in the US, honeybees are raised for the role they play in habitat conservation and not for yielding honey. They play a significant part in boosting crop productivity. So, through honey farming, Pakistan also plans on habitat conservation but raising dividends from it as well.

Looking at the prospects of this program, it has been told that Saudi Arabia has also become interested in the project. Saudi Arabia, they said, has already approached the ministry to buy it. This is good news for it will surely help in marketing the honey.

Foreign Scholarships

These foreign scholarships are from the UK, USA, China, Azerbaijan, European countries, and other countries. So you can pick and choose according to the country you want to go to and the programs that the scholarships present. For instance, if you are into medical sciences, one scholarship might be better than the rest.

Most scholarships had their deadlines in December and mid-January. Commonwealth scholarship, for instance, had its deadline at the end of 2021. Meanwhile, the scholarship for Hungary was due on 15th January 2021.

Car Prices Touch The Sky Despite Increased Imports!

Cars costly in Pakistan

Our country is seeing an ever-increasing inflow of vehicles in Pakistan. KIA has risen so high over the years, it is one of the highest production brands today. The KIA Sportage, with the 2020 variant, has already captured a lot of eyes and hearts. KIA is an extremely reliable vehicle when it comes to long road trips or good fuel mileage.

Similarly, Changan is a company that has recently launched the Changan Alsvin. It is being considered as an extremely affordable sedan, much lower than it’s other brand counterparts. However, despite this launch, there are a lot of cars currently being sold at high rates. This is keeping in mind that imports have increased now in Pakistan too. More and more car parts are being brought in. So, why the increased cost?

Automotives In Pakistan

Automotives in Pakistan are extremely popular. The country is filled with car buffs who just want to have a glance under hoods. There is an auto show about to take place in Pakistan yet again and we have much to anticipate. Coming April, you will be able to take part in it too. Additionally, there is more news to shed.

With the launch of Changan Alsvin and BAIC soon to enter Pakistan, the country is going on a steep rise. Due to Alsvin sales, gazes are turning towards Pakistan. People want to see who is it that is buying so many of their cars. However, recent information tells us that Pakistan car prices are currently at an all-time high. So, what really is the matter?

Importing Goods

It is interesting to note exactly how high the vehicle prices have been soaring. Some of the highest running cars in the country don’t have spare parts manufactured locally. We have to emphasize this because local means less price. However, even after the import of countless auto parts, the prices are going high. They are going high even after the dollar has stabilized.

Recently, our prime minister has taken a stance against this new price increase. He wishes to make amends in this area by allowing prices to decrease. If they decrease, then it gives many more people an opportunity to buy into the market. A 10-year local parts policy has been decided after much consideration.

Soaring Prices

These prices are sure to drive away customers from the vehicles. Not everyone can afford the high amount that has to be paid for a car. It is understandable that the cars are premium quality but the price bracket is going well beyond.

It remains to be seen how well the automotive industry progresses from here. Of course, we cannot disregard how much Pakistan has improved in terms of this area. Before, not a lot of vehicles were seen being driven apart from the mainstream ones. Now we see a plethora of brands just being driven here and there. We hope the prices get less jacked soon so more people may be able to buy automobiles.

Our traffic laws and rules already have a questionable reputation. It is not uncommon to see someone violating the traffic rules and not facing any consequences for it. We have all come across at least one person who has bragged about violating the traffic rules and laws.

At times the problem gets so severe that the traffic police has to specifically announce special instructions and consequences for cars and bike riders for performing stunts in the middle of the streets especially on occasions like New Year’s Eve and 14th August.

A Kid Driving Land Cruiser In Multan:

A few hours ago, a video went viral on Facebook, Youtube and other social platforms in which a boy of approximately five years old can be seen driving a Land Cruiser in the middle of the street of a metropolitan city.

The commenters and posters claim that the video is of Multan, Punjab and the kid driving the Land Cruiser is five years old.

Even though many people took this video on a lighter note and took it as a joke, certain people pointed out the threat it posed not only for the kid but those around him.

Who Was The Kid And Whose Car Was He Driving?

The netizens are normally investigative of such incidents and uncover the parties involved in cases like this, however, we are yet to find out who the kid in the video is and whether he was driving the car with his parents knowing of this.

The video is extremely shaky and it seems that the person recording it was riding a motorbike himself. It seems the kid is standing so that his feet could reach the pedals which enabled him to accelerate and brake the SUV.

Certain news outlets report that the street where the SUV was recorded being driven by the kid was Bosan Road, Multan which is one of the crowded roads of Multan. This comes as a shock as normally such important roads have traffic police on-duty.

It is not uncommon to see dangerous stunts being performed in the streets of Pakistan however it is bizarre how a kid under the age of ten was given the liberty to drive an SUV on busy roads of Multan.

The story is still developing and we’ll share with you as soon as we find out more details on this story.

Technology keeps upgrading, developing with every passing second, especially when it comes to telecommunications. You, or in fact your parents, may recall the huge mobile phones that resembled cordless. As the phones became smarter, the internet services upgraded as well from 2G. The telecom companies started providing 3G; then they shifted to 4G. And now you will be able to find 5G Network as well.

Driverless Cars… Woah!

This technology has been revolutionizing because ever since it got introduced, it has amazed people. The reason is that the technology enables smartphones and can even lead to you witnessing driverless cars around you. Of course, in Pakistan, people will assume it to be the supernatural work, but really, it’s just 5G.

PTA planning to introduce 5G

PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) plans to make the 5G network available commercially for Pakistani telecom companies. The expected timeline is 2022 to 2033. And you may ask, how fast can it make the surfing and download speed? Well, it will go up to 1gbps. Right now, the government is focusing on developing a roadmap for the technology. In PTA’s annual report last year, the government aims to ‘auction spectrum for 5G services in the fiscal year 2023.’

Considering it took ages for the country to make even 4G available on all networks and that it is a country where even cities face network issues, already working towards 5G is a significant step. And it can be said that this move is a direct result of what the government saw in 2020, post-COVID. Companies and governments saw how offline business slugged away in the pandemic infested world while digital presence and e-commerce boomed. So an up to date digital infrastructure was the need of the time.

5G Already in Pakistan?

Meanwhile, it should be noted that some telecommunications services have already conducted test trials for the 5G technology. But it was conducted under controlled variables over a small sample. During the test trials, Pakistan was recorded as the first South Asian country to download 1gbps.

Looking at the officials’ statements, we find that the Federal Minister of IT and Telecom plans to launch the technology by December 2022. Although, experts claim that Pakistan still needs 5 to 7 years to get to that place.

Image Source: South China Morning Post

Huawei has been facing a lot of problems since it was sanctioned internationally. As per reports, the smartphone conglomerate has been in talks to sell their flagship smartphone brands. As per Reuters, two people who are directly engaged in the negotiations have confirmed that talks are underway between Huawei and Shanghai-based investment firms to sell Huawei P and Mate Series.

Is Huawei Ending Its Operations In The Smartphone Industry?

The company once became the biggest smartphone manufacturer until it sold its Honor Series, which had an excellent reputation in the smartphone industry; the Chinese smartphone company had been facing numerous issues ever since its scandal, which revealed that the company lied to American Banks about a telecommunication firm that had also been working with Iran which violated the sanctions imposed by the United States on the country for pursuing nuclear arms.

The scandal had rocked the smartphone industry and brought Huawei to its knees as the company had a huge market share in the Western market. The company made between Q3 2019 and Q3 of 2020 $39.7 billion from the Honor Series. In Q3 of 2020 alone, the total sales comprised nearly 40% of Huawei’s total sales, which shows the smartphone range’s significance.

As per reports, Huawei has been in talks with a Shanghai-based investment firm interested in purchasing two of the flagship smartphone brands. The valuation and meetings or any other information have not yet been officially made public.

What Would Huawei Do After Selling Off Its Most Important Smartphone Brands?

It might seem that Huawei itself might get acquired by some other investor later on; however, that does not seem the case. The company has been expanding its operations and is entering new avenues to expand its businesses.

As per the latest leaks and official updates, the company has been seen introducing new things and has revealed gadgets that show that the company will not be stopping anytime soon. Recently, it was revealed that Huawei HiCar is collaborating with BAIC and launch a smart car. There was news about Smart Latex Pillows by Huawei, which shows how innovative the company is risking to be.

Huawei clears air on the rumors

“Huawei has learned THERE ARE unsubstantiated rumors circulating regarding the POSSIBLE SALE OF our flagship smartphone brands. There is no merit to these rumors whatsoever. Huawei has no such plan. We remain fully committed to our smartphone business, and will continue to deliver world-leading products and experiences for consumers around the world.”
