India not to travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023, PCB responds

India Pakistan Asia Cup

BCCI secretary Jay Shah, on Tuesday, said that India won’t travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023, and hinted towards a neutral venue hosting the Asia Cup. Jay Shah is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). He said, “I am saying this as ACC President. We [India] can’t go there [to Pakistan], they can’t come here. In the past also, Asia Cup has been played at a neutral venue.”

This statement came just days after Cricbuzz reported that “India is open to traveling to Pakistan and it is certainly on the agenda of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). India’s clearance will, however, be subjected to the government of the time.”

The topic of traveling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup came up for discussion at the 91st Annual General Meeting of BCCI, in the presence of a new set of BCCI office bearers – President Roger Binny, Treasurer Ashish Shelar, and Vice-President Rajiv Shukla.

Jay Shah further said, “It’s the government which decides over the permission of our team visiting Pakistan so we won’t comment on that but for the 2023 Asia Cup, it is decided that the tournament will be held at a neutral venue.”

This sour statement came out amid the goodwill gestures among players of both countries during the T20 World Cup 2022 ahead of their much-anticipated clash in Melbourne on October 23.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has released a press release today as a response to Shah’s comments and rquested ACC to convene an emergency meeting to discuss this “important and sensitive matter”.

PCB has shown disappoitnment towards Jay Shah’s comments and raised concerns as in what capacity did Shah make such comments on behalf of the Indian board, given that he is also the Chairman of the ACC. Interestingly, it was decided under Shah’s presidency that Pakistan would host the Asia Cup 2023.

India last toured Pakistan for the 2008 Asia Cup, while Pakistan’s last tour to India was for the 2016 T20 World Cup. Due to political tensions, the two nations have not played bilateral cricket since Pakistan’s tour of India for a white-ball-only series in 2012-2013.

The Indian politicians need to understand that visiting Pakistan won’t hamper their chances in the next elections as the majority of the Indian population also wants to see the arch-rivals square off. Whenever the two countries meet on the field, it breaks viewership records; this is the reason, ICC places them in the same group in every ICC tournament so that more money can be made. India-Pakistan matches are a win-win situation for everyone; we hope Indian officials understand this soon.

Nothing beats discarding the winter coat and slipping into a cropped top or your favorite trunks during the coldest months of the year. There are so many beautiful places to explore, from the white-sand beaches of the South Pacific to the stunning coasts of the Indian Ocean! Why stay at home and wait for spring when you might be out in the sun? Here are some cozy places that you can visit during the winter season.

  1. Bali

In Bali, January is the monsoon season, and it is the wettest month of the year. Excluding holidays and New Year’s, it’s also a period when visitors leave, and surfing on the west coast is at its best. While there may be some showers, they will pass swiftly and will not disrupt your activities. Surfing, yoga, meditation, hiking, wonderful food, and spectacular nightlife are all available. Tourism has affected certain regions of Bali, with centers of Instagram-worthy cafés, fashionable bars, and vegan eateries.

  1. Australia

It’s summer in Australia! Australia, one of the world’s most popular destinations and the origin of The Blonde Abroad, is the ideal winter getaway. Australia has so much to offer, from the Great Barrier Reef to the diverse culture of Melbourne to the renowned vistas of Sydney.

  1. Thailand

Winter is an excellent season to visit Thailand. Bangkok may get quite hot in the summer, but daily highs in December often reach eighty degrees. The coastline has fantastic weather all year, so it’s still a great time to visit beaches like Koh Lanta and Koh Chang.

  1. South Africa

The temperatures along Africa’s southern coast are mild. Winter may be wet, and because South Africa is in the Southern Hemisphere, winter lasts from June to September. The best time to visit locations like Cape Town and Johannesburg is during the summer.

  1. Morocco

There are so many beautiful places to see in this northern African country. During the summer, many of them, such as the Sahara Desert, become extremely hot. I’m talking way above 100 degrees. Winter brings beautiful seventy-degree days in Marrakech and across the desert, allowing you to explore without being overheated.

  1. The French Polynesia

Between California and Australia, you’ll discover heaven. French Polynesia, with one hundred islands spread out across twelve thousand kilometers in the center of the South Pacific, is just breathtaking. In the winter, the crystal blue lagoons retain an average temperature of 79 degrees Fahrenheit and are flanked by some of the world’s best beaches.

  1. Mexico

Temperatures vary around Mexico, although the tourist regions typically have two seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season lasts from May to October in much of the nation. Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula and the Pacific coast region known as the Mexican Riviera are your best bets for decent winter weather. In some places, temperatures will reach the mid-eighties throughout the day before falling to the sixties at night.

Tips And Tricks To Make Your Car Smell Good All The Time

Nothing beats the fragrance of a new automobile. The fragrance of new leather and upholstery transports us back to happier times. Unfortunately, this odor does not persist long. Our automobiles will smell nasty after a while due to usage and poor habits. It doesn’t feel good to get into a car that has a terrible stench, whether you’re heading home or out. But don’t worry, there are several ways to keep our automobile smelling nice. Simple home products and excellent practices will keep our automobiles smelling fresh. Here are some basic steps you can do to keep your automobile smelling fresh.

  1. Clean air vents

The condition of the air vents is one of the most prevalent reasons for an unpleasant smell in the automobile. When they gather dirt and bacteria, the air that enters the automobile begins to stink. To begin, clean up the car’s air vents. You may do this using a tiny, thin sponge or cotton swabs.

  1. Use coffee beans

Coffee beans are one of the most invigorating scents available as a car freshener. Fill a tiny mesh bag, socks, or even a little paper bag with beans. They are excellent deodorizers and may absorb unpleasant odors in the automobile. Leave them beneath the seats as a cheap deodorizer and air freshener.

  1. Use oils

Not only will essential oils make your automobile smells nice. Some people believe that essential oils are pricey, yet you only need a drop or two. Put this on the console if you already have a diffuser for immediate vehicle aromatherapy.

  1. Baking Soda does the trick

Baking soda is one of the most helpful household goods. It is also an excellent auto deodorizer. Sprinkle baking soda over the car’s seats, carpets, and floor. Allow for some time, preferably a few hours, before vacuuming. This will eliminate the odor as well as any filth that has become embedded in the upholstery.

  1. Follow strict cleaning rules

Aside from washing your automobile on a regular basis, it is important that we maintain excellent practices to keep your vehicle smelling fresh for as long as possible. Avoid smoking in the car since the odor will adhere to the upholstery even if the window is left open.

  1. Cleaning the mats is more important than you think

Car mats preserve the carpeting of the vehicle by collecting the dirt that we carry in with us every time we enter our automobiles. Even after using all of the air fresheners and vacuuming, we may realize that there is still a terrible odor in the car. Examine the floor and trunk mats; they may need to be thoroughly cleaned.

  1. Have a detailed cleaning once a month

Give your automobile a thorough cleaning to ensure that no unwanted odors or bacteria remain. While you can have the local carwash handle it, you may save money by doing it yourself. Get a decent vacuum cleaner with a hose and attachments for cleaning hard-to-reach areas inside the car. Get your cleaner, deodorizer, wiping products, brushes, and sponges and you’ll be on your way to a great-smelling car in no time.

Solar-Powered Headphones: Here’s Why You Should Get Them

The latest wireless headphones from the Swedish company Urbanista hide an ingenious solution to battery life woes i.e, solar charging.

Solar-powered headphones can solve this problem. Wearing them, you can go wherever you want without having to worry about running out of battery, provided that the place has adequate light.

How Do Solar Headphones Work?

Just like solar panels, solar-powered headphones work by converting light into energy and can deliver virtually infinite playtime, given the endless solar energy we get from the sun. As you can guess, they work better outdoors than indoors due to the direct exposure to sunlight.

On the surface level, the idea makes a lot of sense. You see, regular wireless headphones need to be charged either through a wired charger or a wireless charging pad; both options require you to wait for the device to charge till you can use them again.

The Swedish firm Urbanista and German sports giant Adidas, are the first ones to have solar panels built into their headbands.

Exeger – a Swedish giant has done the homework to develop flexible panels. They have nearly spent the past decade working to make them light, thin and powerful enough to do the job.

According to Exeger’s boss Giovanni Fili, “It is both a matter of convenience and, more importantly, doing the right thing environmentally.”

“Charging – everyone hates it,” he says. “But every time you don’t charge it is a good thing for the world. The new generation of young adults expect to be offered tools to do good [for the environment], and that is what we are offering.”

The solar panels are called Powerfoyle with a thickness of 1.3mm. The strip is composed of titanium dioxide covered in a natural dye. The dye absorbs photons from light, which are then converted into electrons. Meanwhile, the headphones still have a built-in battery that can power up to 80 hours of playback time.

Product Specifications

The Los Angeles area standard Bluetooth 5.0 headphones support the universal SBC and AAC audio formats used by most devices and maintained a solid connection to various Apple and Android devices. The right ear cup has three buttons for controlling playback and volume. Taking off the headphones also pauses the music. The left ear cup has a button for adjusting the noise-canceling functions and a USB-C port for charging. The headpiece lacks the 3.5mm headphone socket making them difficult to use on a plane.

The Los Angeles sold by Urbanista cost £169, US $199, and AUS $349. However, they look no different from a normal set of headphones, apart from a flexible Powerfoyle solar cell on top of the headband.

Do You Love Late Night Munching? Here’s What You Need To Know

With changing habits and sleeping patterns, it has become quite common to eat late at night. While the discussion about late-night eating sessions and weight gain has been going around for a while – it is important to note how eating late at night influences our weight.

Some researchers hypothesize that eating at night goes against your circadian rhythm, which is the 24-hour cycle that tells your body when to sleep, eat and wake. Meanwhile, the idea that eating at night makes you gain weight stems from animal studies, which suggest that the body may use consumed calories differently past a certain time of day.

Night Eating & Weight

Recent research conducted in the United States has found that eating four hours later than normal changes many of the physiological and molecular mechanisms that favour weight gain.

This finding adds to other recently published work which has found that eating earlier in the day is more beneficial for both appetite and body weight control.

The study included 16 participants who followed two different meal schedules, each for six days total.

The first group of participants ate their meals early in the day with the last meal consumed approximately six hours and 40 minutes before bedtime. However, the second protocol had participants eat all of their daily meals approximately four hours later. This group skipped breakfast and instead had lunch, dinner and an evening meal. Their last meal was consumed only two and a half hours before sleep.

The study ensured that the participants in each group consume an identical diet. The time between the meals was evenly spaced with around four hours between them.

Researchers included the following parameters as their study points,

  • The influence of appetite
  • The impact of eating time on energy expenditure (calories burned)
  • Molecular changes from fat tissue.

Study Protocol

The study protocol included participants who rated their feelings of hunger throughout the day. The second protocol included blood sample collection to look at the levels of appetite-regulating hormones in participants’ blood. These hormones include leptin (which helps us feel full) and ghrelin (which makes us feel hungry). These hormones were assessed hourly over 24 hours during the third and sixth day of each trial.

Results

According to the results, late eating not only increased subjective feelings of hunger the following day, but it also increased the ratio of “hunger” hormones in the blood – despite participants eating an identical diet in both protocols.

Late eating also caused a decrease in the number of calories burned the following day. In the participants who did the fat tissue biopsy, late eating was also shown to cause molecular changes that promote fat storage.

While a significant answer as to why late-night eating promotes weight gain has not been found yet, the study shows that it’s probably the result of multiple factors working together. Late eating was also shown to cause molecular changes that promote fat storage in patients who went through tissue biopsy.

Those who eat at night tend to eat more and, therefore, consume extra calories. Over time, a surplus of calories can lead to weight gain.

9 Symptoms Of Breast Cancer That Aren’t Lumps

9 Symptoms Of Breast Cancer That Aren’t Lumps
Image Source: Hammad Bin Khalifa University

While lumps and bumps are among the most typical indicators of breast cancer, there may be additional symptoms you should look out for that require urgent medical attention.

Dimples

One woman’s only breast cancer symptom—a little dimple on the edge of her breast—was showcased in a social media post that quickly gained popularity. You can miss this indication of a tumor during your monthly self-exam. Your doctor should examine any skin retraction or dimpling on your breast.

Skin irritation

Your skin may become irritated for a variety of reasons, such as an uncomfortable bra, heat rash, contact dermatitis, or other skin conditions, but in a small percentage of instances, it may also be a sign of breast cancer. Consult your doctor if your breasts develop new or persistent rashes, skin irritation, edema, or redness that are not related to anything else.

Nipple discharge

Breast discharge during pregnancy or while nursing is probably nothing to be concerned about. However, some discharges should be examined by a doctor in other women. Breast cancer symptoms might also include clear, greenish, or yellowish discharge from the breasts.

Freckles

Dark spots or atypical skin freckles may indicate inflammatory breast cancer, a rare and severe form of breast cancer that should be investigated by a dermatologist. Consult your doctor if you develop a freckle that is rapidly joined by others.

Red spots or bruises

Red spots or bruise-like skin lesions can also be indicators of inflammatory breast cancer. Make an appointment to get examined if you have symptoms and they seem to last longer than two to three weeks. But once more, bear in mind the rarity of this kind of cancer. Numerous red skin lesions, such as cherry angiomas, are perfectly benign.

Nipple changes

Except when you’re pregnant, your nipples don’t generally alter in size, shape, or color. However, you should get examined for breast cancer if you detect any changes in the look of your nipples. The nipple may retract or bend inward as a result.

Your nipples may exhibit itching and scaling as a symptom of Paget’s disease of the breast, a rare type of breast cancer.

Change in skin texture

Your breast’s changing skin might be an indication that anything is wrong. The texture of the breast might occasionally alter because of breast cancer. Keep an eye out for a reddish, pitted surface that resembles orange skin. That occurs because of fluid buildup and inflammation of the breast tissue brought on by cancer cells obstructing the breast’s tiny lymphatic channels.

Swelling or tenderness

During certain phases of the menstrual cycle, breast enlargement or discomfort is a typical problem for women and may even signal an early pregnancy. Women frequently ignore it as a breast cancer warning sign because of this very reason. You should get that breast examined if it appears to be unusually big or swollen.

Change is breast size or change

The size and form of your breasts might alter because of weight increase, menstrual cycle changes, pregnancy, or nursing. You should arrange a test with your doctor if your breasts abruptly change form without regard to these other variables since it could be a symptom of cancer.

New Study Shows High Levels Of BPA In Sports Bra

A new study has shown that sports bras contain toxic levels of BPA – a chemical compound found in plastic which associated with adverse health effects such as asthma, cardiovascular disease and obesity. The study was conducted by the Center of Environmental Health, which is a non-profit consumer advocacy group focused on exposing the presence of toxic chemicals in consumer products.

The test was conducted on the products sold by Athleta, PINK, Asics, The North Face, Brooks, All in Motion, Nike, and FILA in the past six months. The results showed the clothing could expose wearers to up to 22 times the safe limit of BPA, based on standards set in California, according to the Center for Environmental Health. Meanwhile, the activewear shirt brands tested include The North Face, Brooks, Mizuno, Athleta, New Balance, and Reebok. CEH only found BPA in polyester-based clothing containing spandex.

BPA & Sports Bra

Per California’s Proposition 65, the maximum allowable dose level for BPA via skin exposure is 3 mcg per day, which means some of the garments could expose wearers to up to 66 mcg per day.

The nonprofit watchdog centre recently sent legal notices to the brands, calling on them to reformulate their products without BPA.

Read More: WEAR YOUR MOTIVATION!

“We want brands to reformulate their products to remove all bisphenols including BPA. In the interim, we recommend limiting the time you spend in your activewear by changing after your workout,” the group said.

“Studies have shown that BPA can be absorbed through the skin and end up in the bloodstream after handling receipt paper for seconds or a few minutes at a time. Sports bras and athletic shirts are worn for hours at a time, and you are meant to sweat in them, so it is concerning to be finding such high levels of BPA in our clothing,” said Kaya Allan Sugerman, Illegal Toxic Threats Program Director at CEH, in a press release.

“People are exposed to BPA through ingestion, from eating food or drinking water from containers that have leached BPA, or by absorption through the skin,” said Allan Sugerman.

BPA Toxicity

One meta-review study including more than 28,000 people found that BPA was detected in more than 90% of study subjects. The toxic ingredient is known to disrupt female hormones making it also a questionable material to be used in intimate clothing pieces.

According to a gynaecologist,  “Even low levels of exposure during pregnancy have been associated with a variety of health problems in offspring. These problems include abnormal development of the mammary glands and ovaries that can increase the likelihood of developing breast or ovarian cancer later in life. These effects occur even at low levels of exposure like those seen in people today.

Are Air Tags Banned On Flights? Here’s What You Need To Know

Since its launch last April, Apple’s Air Tag has become a popular way for passengers to check whether their luggage has travelled. Bluetooth devices have become especially useful during the summer of this year’s lost luggage.

However, a recent tweet from German airline Lufthansa has left AirTag owners confused about whether they can deploy a one-euro coin-sized device in their suitcases.

“It is on the authorities to adopt regulations that right now limit the use of these devices for airline passengers in checked luggage,” the airline added. “We are in close contact with the respective institutions to find a solution as quickly as possible.”

The company, which tweeted over the weekend that it was “banning activated AirTags from luggage as they are classified as dangerous and need to be turned off,” has reversed course and announced that the popular tracking devices are allowed on its flights.

Lufthansa & Air Tags

In recent news, Lufthansa has taken a new decision saying, “The Lufthansa Group has conducted its risk assessment with the result that tracking devices with very low battery and transmission power in checked luggage do not pose a safety risk.”

According to the airline, they have never issued a ban on devices like that.

“Luggage tracking devices powered by lithium metal cells that have 0.3 grams or less of lithium can be used on checked baggage,” the FAA said in a statement. “Apple AirTags meet this threshold, other luggage tracking devices may not.”

“The regulation does not in itself ban or allow devices such as Apple AirTags,” EASA told TPG. “It is the responsibility of operators to prohibit the use of devices which could adversely affect the flight safety or the aircraft’s systems.”

There are no known instances of AirTags catching fire on a plane (or anywhere), and no other major airlines have banned the Apple accessories.
