akhuwat university

Education seems to be getting expensive day-by-day as institutes keep increasing their fees. Akhuwat University, Pakistan first free university, is helping students who are unable to afford to go to renowned institutes who mint money.

Chairman Akhuwat Dr. Amjad Saqib emphasized on educating while saying; “We are establishing Akhuwat University which will be the first free university of Pakistan with quality higher education.”

Akhuwat University

Top Universities of the Islamic World: 12 Pakistani Institutes Make it to the List!

He further added that the project costs around RS.45 crore and will be fully operational in August 2018. There are also other institutes which operate for free under the ‘Akhuwat’ banner.

Dr. Amjad Saqib disclosed that “Akhuwat schools, college, Akhuwat first Faisalabad Institute of research, science & technology and management are the main feature of our education programme.”

As per Dr. Amjab Saqib, “Poverty is not just lack of resources; it is a deprivation of social justice and morality – Poverty in its worst form is hopelessness.”

We appreciate how Akhuwat and other operations the banner are taking care of such important factors as educational is the right of every man, woman, and child in Pakistan. Nonetheless, it is also something which will help one get better opportunities and a better lifestyle in the future.

Amazon in Pakistan to Make Trade with India Easier?

amazoninpakistan

Pakistan is known to have one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets around the world. Looks like Amazon in Pakistan finally happening!

With giants like Alibaba group eyes to enter the markets, Amazon has found a way to make its mark via Pakistani domain Clicky.pk. Currently. it owns 33% of the website which is widely used for buying and selling across the nation.

If the e-commerce giant increases their stake in the website, Indian sellers will have an opportunity to sell their merchandise via Amazon in Pakistan. If so, this might just bring the two nations together on the platform of trading.

amazon in pakistan

One of the people aware of the ongoing negotiation said, “If a transaction (between Amazon and Cicky.pk) goes through Indian merchants can sell more goods in Pakistan, which can be routed through Dubai, where Souq is based.”

As per a source, “Several Indian FMCG products are popular in Pakistan. But a major chunk of products is raw material, unbranded food item, clothing, and jewelry. Typically, most of these products are routed through Dubai and the big traders in Karachi who import these products, from where they are distributed across the country.”

Around 1200 Indian products are not allowed to be imported from India to Pakistan, the only way this can be executed is if the trade happens through a third-party mainly Dubai or Afghanistan.

On the other hand, Clicky.pk is a competitor of Dara.pk which might be acquired by Alibaba soon, if so, Amazon will have platforms to give their rivals a tough time to compete.

As of now, nor Amazon or Clicky.pk have not confirmed or denied this news.

What do you think about this?

A sitting with Feica with Nauman Nabi Ahmed turned out to be a fascinating session with Feica drawing live caricature and throwing light on his journey of cartoons. The signed cartoons drawn by Feica were a rare treat for the participants. Equally entertaining was Art and Rumi in which Mr Rasheed Noorani kept the audience amused with this eloquent narration of Rumi poetry.

The entertaining sessions of Dastaan Goeey by Fawad Khan, live “Fishermen Dance” by Pakistan National Council of Arts and PechaKucha slideshow, a posthumous tribute to legendary artists prepared by Asdaq Hussain and eloquently presented by Akbar Ali were equally engaging.

For the younger artists, the live segment with Akbar Zia encouraged them to observe and sketch caricatures. Live CD painting by Saadia Sohail produced many different designs to create amazing pieces of art. The students of IVSAA painted a mural live at the venue for two days that was later auctioned with proceeds being donated by Nigaah for scholarships for needy art students.

Besides the traditional hand-made ajrak and tile work by Yaqoob and Ghulam Haider Doudpota, the public at large came across truck art paraphernalia by Anjum Rana and items of interest at APWA stalls. For book lovers, Liberty Books, OUP, Vasl and Mohatta Palace had interesting reads on art.

Art installations across the venue enthralled the general public. Curated by Akbar Ali – art consultant, VAD Department, PNCA, the installations comprised works of Abdul Jabbar Gul, A.S. Rind, Manizeh Ali, Obaid-ur-Rehman, Sunaina Telraj and Akbar Ali.  Some of the installations were interactive and involved the general public.

One of the major segments that continued to draw large numbers was the art display by many art galleries inside the halls coupled with Jamil Naqsh Museum. Works of emerging and established artists were up for sale which made the public appreciate art. A special dark room was developed that featured the work of Karachi School of Art titled “DÉJÀ VU CHRONICLES” that showed a kaleidoscopic spectrum of lights on whirling vertex like Chakras in holograms.

The grand finale feature of KAF was the art auction where works of Khusro Subzwari, A.S.Rind, Shanzay Subzwari, Syed A. Irfan, Akram Spaul and Hanif Shahzad were auctioned to raise funds for Nigaah scholarship at IVSAA. Additionally, a mural painted by students of IVSAA was also auctioned to support this scholarship.

Through KAF, art became more accessible to the general public by interacting with paintings and installations and more importantly seeing them up close.

With an aim to bring “Art in Public Domain”, Karachi Art Festival is a festival that will continue to happen in the years to come.

Bay Dardi Drama on ARY Digital: OST, Cast,Timings & Schedule

Four episodes down and Pakistani drama, Bay Dardi has received a positive response from the audience.

The serial highlights the taboo topic of AIDS and explores the issue in a dramatic manner.

Bay Dardi’s Plot Probes An Unconventional Topic

The concept stands out and not just because of the “hush-hush” topic but because it brings awareness to people. It highlights how AIDS is spread in the society i.e not just through physical contact but due to negligence as well.

And that’s where the crux of the story lies.

Shafay (Affan Waheed) is a simple, well-cultured and sober boy who belongs to a very decent family. Living in a hostel for his studies, he ends up meeting Rohail, (Arsalan Faisal) – the only negative influence in his life.

For Rohail, keeping inappropriate relations with girls is not a big deal. This active physical lifestyle results in him becoming an AIDS victim (although he is unaware of that fact).

The story takes a turn when Shafay ends up using Rohail’s razor which transmits the disease to him. Unaware of that fact, he continues leading a normal life.

Here enters Bia (Aiman Khan) – an innocent middle-class girl who is seen suffering from the trauma of her sister’s suicide. She falls in love with Shafay and both end up getting married.

Bay dardi

The story takes a turn when Shafay’s mother Memona (Buhsra Ansari) finds out about her son’s disease and hatches an evil plan against Bia. Disapproving of their marriage, she contrives to break their marriage and show Bia as a characterless girl by blaming her for AIDS transmission to her son.

Unknown to both Shafay and Bia, Memona had known about this truth even before the marriage but had hidden it.

Once the results come out in front of the couple, Shafay ends up blaming Bia who must now face not only her family but the society as well.

Will Bia be able to prove her innocence? What will be the fate of their relationship?

patari ceo khalid bajwa

Patari is a well-known music platform which is quite popular in Pakistan. However, in a recent turn of events, Patari CEO Khalid Bajwa has stepped down after being accused of harassment by not one, but 2 women.

The company made an official statement on their social media platforms, in which it states that Bajwa will no longer be with the platform and that the company will stand by the victims.

patari ceo khalid bajwa

They added that the investigation had been ongoing before the allegations had come forward.

Bajwa is openly being criticised for the tweets he had written in the past in regards to females and their orientation.

The women took it to Twitter to express what had been going on. While giving an interview to ET, one of the girls said, “I knew him through Twitter before Patari was even formed. The first time I met him was at Lahore Music Meet (LMM) and he welcomed me with a hug that made me very awkward.”

The other girl had stated, “Bajwa used to force me to meet him. He would make plans that he’d pick me up from college and take me to his office.” She eventually blocked him, after which Bajwa contacted her on Instagram and requested her not to expose him “for the sake of his daughter and wife.”

On the other hand, COO of Patari Ahmer Naqvi said, “Our official statement is the only thing we will be saying right now.”

“I am overwhelmed and amazed at all the love and support. Received very little backlash. What a time to be alive. I regret not opening up about this earlier. Look what happened, girls! So so proud and happy.” one of the girls wrote applauding the effort made by the company.

The film is a biopic based on Zenith Irfan, the first Pakistani woman to make a solo journey through the northern areas of the country.

Written and directed by Adnan Sarwar, the movie will see Sohai playing the lead in this groundbreaking movie.

With the release date just days away, Sohai has been seeing extensively promoting her movie. And apart from the hints we have gotten about the movie, what caught our eye was her dressing style.

Throughout the promotions, we spotted her experimenting with different styles and fabrics – and let us tell you, it’s giving us major fashion goals!

Don’t believe us?

Take a look at some of her stunning ensembles – we are sure you too would be positively swooning with envy!

Dressed in the stylish chequered StudioS kurta, Sohai manages to look casual yet elegant.

The starlet managed to look effortlessly stylish and comfortable with large hoop earrings while choosing to keep her hair in a loose bun.

New Gwadar International Airport Construction Likely to Begin This Month!

new gwadar international airport

Following the news of the Liaquat Ali Khan International Airport in Islamabad, the New Gwadar International Airport is all set to be inaugurated this month as well.

Said to be the largest international airport of Pakistan, Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Dostain Khan Jamaldini reported that the work on the new airport will begin soon.

Compared to the Karachi airport that’s developed on 3700 acres and the Lahore airport on 2800 acres; Gwadar airport will be situated on 4300 acres of land.

Gawadar New AirportISLAMABAD: Construction work on the Gwadar International Airport costing Rs22 billion would be…

Posted by Saeed Rajput on Friday, April 28, 2017

Clearance for financing and execution of the project has been attained by the company nominated by China for the development of the new airport.

Once the project is completed, the airport is said to become the hub of international trade in Pakistan.

This information was disclosed by Jamaldini during the 65th meeting of the Standing Committee on Planning, Development, and Reform.

The China Airport Construction Group Engineering Company’s representative Jianxin Liao has affirmed that the New International Airport in Gwadar will be the biggest airport of Pakistan.

He also went on to talk about the cost of the project and revealed that:

“The expected cost of the project is around $ 2billion however it could vary and it will be finalized after completion of testing and the design phase.”

The soil testing on the land began in January 2018 in which 90 out of 300 boreholes were completed.

The prototype picture of the new airport was revealed on social media and went viral in no time.

With massive projects such as the Gwadar and Islamabad airport, delays tend to arise due to the design and costing approval.

However, the new Gwadar International Airport will be inaugurated on April 20th, 2018.

Fashion Pakistan Spring/Summer ’18 Day One Kicks Off!

The pioneering Fashion Pakistan Council kicked off Fashion Pakistan Week Spring/Summer 2018, paving the way for revolutionary designers whilst marking the trends of the season. The first day of the two-day event was held on the 10th of April at the Pearl Continental Marquee in Karachi.

Continuing the tradition, this season’s fashion take was glamorously glitzy with a line-up of 15 designers, eight of whom showcased their collection on the first day. The show was opened by Maheen Khan displaying the latest trends from her brand Gulabo followed by Huma Adnan for FnKAsia, Cheena Chhapra, Hasan Riaz, Yasmeen Jiwa, The Pink Tree Company, Amir Adnan and Farah Talib Aziz.

Prior to the show, leading celebrities and designers were seen mingling at the gorgeously designed purple and white Physiogel booth where Nadia Hussain, actress and model engaged the audience in conversations revolving around fashion, their personal style, beautiful skin and talked about the who’s who of fashion. Physiogel’s range of Daily Defence, Calming Relief and Moisture Therapy were on display so attendees could experience first-hand the soft-smooth skin effect. Many also experienced the innovative bio-mimic technology that targets skin issues according to each skin type; ultimately walking away with picture perfect moments and Physiogel giveaways.

“We are always looking for fresh and innovative ways to engage our Key Opinion Leaders and our Consumers and we are truly delighted to launch a symbiotic relationship between Physiogel and Fashion Pakistan Week,” said Ayeza Sumsam Mohiuddin, Senior Brand Manager for Skin Health Category at GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare.

The event kicked off with some of the best fashion trends being showcased as fresh new faces alongside our favourite ramp-beauties were sent down the runway in exquisite and spring/summer pieces. However, what made an impact was when hearing impaired models made their runway debut for Amir Adnan, who had trained them all personally. Making it a first for any fashion show in the history of Pakistan to take this bold step of having impaired models walk the ramp. The star-studded evening had a perfect mix of style and inclusion as apparent through these words, “Each year, Fashion Pakistan Week stuns the audience and that’s because we have great designers, sponsors and partners on board with us that help make it a great success,” said Feri Rawanian, CEO of Fashion Pakistan Council. “We have also tied up with the Noor-e-Elahi trust to support the impaired, having hearing impaired models walk the ramp for Amir Adnan. Fashion Pakistan Week Spring/Summer ’18 is all about being inclusive and providing equal opportunity to the impaired. We hope to get as great a response on Day Two as well.”

About the designers and their collections:

Show Opener: Gulabo by Maheen Khan

Her collection titled ‘Liberation’ meaning a change in the air was a true depiction of breathing comfort, living in style and leaving footprints on the earth in a positive manner. The pieces were like a breath of fresh air, comfy, soft to the eyes yet stylish in a very chic way. From striking statements about environment such as ‘no water no life’ displayed fashionably on the runway to the closing of her show with the Lux Style Awards ‘Mein Bhi’ song playing in the background, her collection was appreciated by all and left quite an impact. Ayesha Toor and Zhalay Sarhadi were the showstoppers for her collection.

Huma Adnan for FNKASIA – Pegah

Huma’s brand aligns itself with social justice and therefore she dedicated this collection, Pegah, meaning ‘early light of day’ in Persian, to helping refugees seeking asylum in Pakistan. Joining hands with UNHCR, Huma brought jewellery and crafts to the collection that were made by refugee women, in order to promote women empowerment in the work force. The collection was inspired by the airy, and light pastel shades of summer 2018. With features of recurring nature motifs in the form of embroideries and prints that, coupled with the soft palette, portrayed a glowing image of peace. The elements that were used had a meaning of their own for example jagged hemlines and bold jewellery symbolized subtle turmoil, in pieces that would otherwise be considered uncontroversial and predictable. Along with this, free form drapes and the unstructured appeal of the garments made the aesthetic of the collection peaceful and calm. Bell sleeves, bell bottoms, flappers, breezy cool blues, brown belts were all on display as models strutted down the ramp. The showstoppers for FNKASIA were Noor Khan and the very lively and individualistic Zara Asad Siddiqi who sashayed down the ramp to spontaneous applause.

Cheena Chhapra – Buxom

The queen of style brought on to the ramp fresh and subtle hued pieces worn beautifully by real women in their late 60s, including, in a strong display of support to womanhood, a pregnant lady. it was nothing short of a treat to watch. Living up to her fashion philosophy, that fashion has become more like a battlefield than lifestyle and that every woman has a desire to look pretty and desirable, her collection consisted of ensembles that women aspire to drape over. Block prints, phulkari, gara, kaanta made fashion statements and revived the dying art. Cheena’s exquisite chaddars and outfits were her way of telling women that size is irrelevant as long as the cut and fits are proper and garment is affordable. With stylish fabrics, colors, cuts that were unique and timeless, the outfits painted a picture of pure elegance and a welcome infusion of confidence. Her collection showcase resulted in a resounding cheer throughout the packed hall.

Gogi by Hassan Riaz – Paradise Mirage

Hasan’s Paradise Mirage was a visual tale of an ornate soul. The vibrant and audacious collection had a very strong message of child abuse and child labor, which is a sad reality in our society and where the young ones are given no more value than deceased bones. The bold, effervescent collection depicted a cheerful spirit of the child and the playful life through elevating silhouettes created from organza, silk and leather trims and flamboyant embellishments that provoked color combinations. Frills, lots of bling, feathers, tassels, straight boot pants, all made fashion statements. The showstopper for his show was the gorgeous Nimra Khan.

Yasmeen Jiwa – Qous-e-Qazah

The art of “weightless glamor” was quietly and beautifully displayed in Yasmeen’s collection. Having previously showcase at Paris Fashion Week, Qous-e-Qazah played homage to the forces, power, beauty, and chaos responsible for the actual creation of this place. The palette featured chilling shades of silver grays, windy blue and silver mist with pops of citrus and rich reds. The embroideries utilized in this collection were a stunning amalgamation of mirror, thread, sequence, and crochet lace. One couldn’t help but lose themselves in the mystical world that was created on the runway by YJ.

The Pink Tree Company – Chaand Raat

Remaining true to its ideology, Pink Tree Company, presented a collection reflecting similar anticipation, and happiness of the coming festive season beginning with Ramzan and Eid continuing until post Bari Eid and monsoon weddings. The stunning pieces evoked memories of bygone eras when elegance ruled, sophistication thrived and life was simpler. Feminine in essence, the pieces highlighted fine, crisp, cool cottons with a dash of sheer organza, which spelled a lifestyle of luxury and ornateness when adorned with traditional embellishments such as zardozi, block print and gota. The collection brought with it, the romanticism of the glorious era with a twist of the contemporary chic.

Amir Adnan – Beast

Amir Adnan made history by having hearing impaired models walk the ramp in bespoke, environmentally conscious collection, called ‘Beast’. It featured one-of-a-kind pieces made from upcycled vintage sherwanis and the beauty of using existing materials to create something different and beautiful was a treat to watch. The collection name was inspired by the 1991 classic Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast and a similar ambiance was created. Male models carried themselves so well, that the regal grandeur and timelessness of the garment before, with the charismatic, headstrong personality of an alpha now. Azfar Rehman opened the show for Amir Adnan, Aly Khan also made a swashbuckling appearance and Zhalay closed the show for him.

Farah Talib Aziz – Mirabelle

Her collection had the perfect mix of prints, textures, embellishments that all reflected the excitement of a promising summer. She experimented with free-flowing silhouettes, varying hems, and intricate fabric manipulation. Hats, jute baskets, flowers, a lot of pearl-work, Swarovski embellished pieces had an effortless glamour feel to it. The collection overall had a very breezy, fun and a very wearable line up of clothing that was feminine, confident and had laid-back luxe with signature Farah Talib Aziz ease. Eye-catching garden-scapes and exquisite flora and fern which were rendered into artisanal works of magnificence. The goddess-like collection comprised of modern cuts and flowy designs had a perfect mix of golds and whites. Syra Sharoz closed the show for Farah Talib Aziz and what caught everyone’s attention was when she walked down the ramp in a mint pastel flowy ensemble with her mother in law Safina Behroze by her side.

All the partners involved in putting together the fabulous event included; Fashion Pakistan as the show producer, Nubain Ali as show director, N-Pro and N-Gents as official stylists, TV-One as the official media partner and Radio FM91 as the radio partner. Snapchat’s Older Version Might Finally Make a Come Back After All!

Well, if you have been patiently waiting for the old Snapchat to return, you might just be in luck!

Although CEO Evan Spiegel previously told users to get used to the new version, the old one might just come back!

The new algorithm brought a little different to the company, as old users were not too happy with the sudden change.

Even Kylie Jenner shared a tweet of her not being fond of Snapchat anymore due to the update!

The aim of the update was towards business profiles after Instagram had introduced Stories which local businesses have been using to cash on. Snapchat caused the daily active user’s growth of Snapchat to fall from 17% to 3% after this.

Old Snapchat to Comeback?

A petition has been signed by over 1,250,000 people asking Evan to bring back the older version. Although going back to the old feed might not be suitable for new users and for the growth of the application, current users are not ready to settle for the new one.

According to Telenews, Snapchat initially ignored the feedback, but some users have reported seeing the Stories feed revert to the classic chronological order, rather than the algorithmically sorted feed recently.

Will the old Snapchat ever come back? Let us know what you think!
