ABC Accused of Exploitation over Michael Jackson Show

Michael Jackson’s estate has slammed an upcoming television special about the late King of Pop, describing it Wednesday as a “crass and unauthorized” effort to exploit the singer’s name.

US broadcast network ABC says “The Last Days of Michael Jackson” will feature never-before-seen interview footage and the testimony of a tour operator who was outside his mansion in southern California the day he died.

The Jackson estate issued a statement saying the special, scheduled to air Thursday, “is not sponsored or approved by the estate” of the pop sensation, who died in 2009.

Disney-owned ABC, which has not responded, is accused of unauthorized use of a copyrighted photo and silhouette image in trailers and promotional materials, but those items have since been removed from the program.

“We are told ABC intends to use music and other intellectual property owned by the estate such as photos, logos, artwork and more in the program itself, without having licensed the rights to any such material,” the statement said.

“Imagine if this was done with any of ABC’s intellectual property. We believe the special to be another crass and unauthorized attempt to exploit the life, music and image of Michael Jackson without respect for Michael’s legacy, intellectual property rights or his children.”

Jackson is estimated to have sold 350 million records, including “Thriller,” the best-selling album of all time.

He amassed 13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one solo singles in the United States and became the first artist in history to have a top ten single in the Billboard Hot 100 in five different decades.

He was 50 when he died on June 25, 2009, while he was in the Los Angeles area practicing for a planned series of concerts in London entitled “This Is It.”

The cause was given as an overdose of the anesthetic propofol. His personal doctor, Conrad Murray, was convicted in 2011 for administering the fatal dose of medication to Jackson.

So it starts today. Pakistan’s Test squad embarks on a new journey without the #MISYOU factor, a duo we all grew very comfortable with in the last 8 years or so.

Going back to past tours, right from 1982 to 2016, Lords has given some of us our finest cricketing memories. Being the guest team, the ground has seldom been conducive for the hosts, and especially for Pakistan it has been quite the opposite.

Great memories to fall back on, but this new look Team Pakistan is different, naïve and without any battle scars, they go into a test match at the Mecca, with a whole lot of promise minus the burden of the usual critic’s expectations.

Facing an English Team is always tough and when it’s in their backyard and their home conditions, it only amplifies the enormity of the task. However, that being said, England has not been doing too well, they have been bad tourists, the Ashes debacle isn’t a thing of the too distant past and the Kiwis beat them 1-0, England being dismissed for a paltry 58 in an innings as well.

So what makes Lords so unique?

Certainly, it’s not the air, as the ground is situated in London, a bit further away from The Brit Oval (another iconic stadium on its own). The Lords slope downhill for one makes the ground unique and like none other, the UFO-shaped /designed media center is a monument to behold and of course those jolly old MCC members, adorned in their prim suits, striped to perfection ties and those lovely old boycott hats. That’s tradition for the pundit and cricket lover alike. Ok, now on to the cricket!

How does Pakistan beat England?

Well for one, the toss and the weather will be very important. The first day’s track is usually very bowler friendly in games leading up from early May to mid-June. After day one and a few sunshine teams rather feel confident in a chase at Lords, as the track becomes a real belter. But mercurial as we are, absolutely prone to be bowled out in a session on a wicket which offers nothing, so let’s call a spade a spade and get cricket technical, shall we?

Pakistan’s Advantage

The unit possesses a quartet of fast-medium bowlers who are excellent against left-hand batsman. The English have 4 in their top 6, Hassan Ali, Aamir who is good with old and new cherries will exploit the natural slope the wicket offers from the pavilion end, so be ready slip cordon, gully and point.

Another advantage heavily favoring Pakistan is the presence of Shadab Khan, an energetic leg-spinner, who if not depends on the roughage of the track, possesses a fine top-spinner which the English find difficult in picking. Losing the toss will be a blessing in disguise as one never really knows how the track plays on the first day, but if we can have a bowl at Cook and Co first up, it won’t be the worst of things. Typical clichés going around will tell you the under-mentioned: –

– Win Toss, Bat
– Post 300 plus
– Get the English out within 250

My Strategy is fairly detailed and more concrete: –

– Bowl First
– New Ball Counts (Cook, Malan, and Root dismissed by the hour)
– Restrict England to under 250
– Azhar Ali to drop anchor, think 150
– 2 Batters from 3-No. 6 get decent high 50’s
– One of the Allrounders hangs in for a cameo
– Pakistan aim towards 400
– And then it’s our ball game?

Small strategies always have a big impact in test matches, for e.g.: –

– Hassan Ali bowling more to the left-handers especially Malan and Stokes, more round the wicket, wicket to wicket or slightly off-stump;
– Do not over bowl Muhammad Aamir;
– Workhorse should be Muhammad Abbas, stemming the flow of runs is pivotal
– Having a third man, to block off unnecessary boundaries will be key.
– Having a silly mid-on to Shadab at all times

More importantly, Sarfaraz Ahmed as street smart as he is, has to remain in the game from ball one. The toss will not be in hands, but whatever he decides after that becomes his destiny. Keeping to past traditions, and from a fan who has watched every Lords test live since 1987, this is no different, as anxious as I ever was, Mecca is here.

Ferrari SP38 Supercar Revealed!

For most people, owning a brand new Ferrari is an aspiration in life that will probably never go any further than that, but for some lucky people, even an “off-the-shelf” Ferrari just won’t cut it.

That’s why the legendary Italian brand makes a small number of one-off creations like the SP38 it’s just revealed, which it says has been built for “one of Ferrari’s most dedicated customers” who has a “deep passion for racing.”

This surprise supercar is a road and track-going car with an all-new body covered in three-layer metallic red paint built on the chassis and running gear of a donor 488 GTB, with an F40-influenced twin-turbo and twin-intercooler engine.

And shortly after the car’s ceremonial handover in Fiorano to one of Ferrari’s most dedicated customers, the SP38 was immediately put through its paces during a number of very hot laps.

Compared to the chassis of the 488, the visual mass of this one-off SP38 seems to be concentrated over the rear wheels with the wedge design sharply stretching towards the front of the car. When viewed from above, the sharply tapered nose expands towards muscular wheel arches to give the car what Ferrari calls “potency and agility.”

The inset headlights that are specific to this creation were designed to be as thin as possible, with the now-mandatory daytime running lights relocated for additional character and to add functionality to a slim bumper lip with more than a passing resemblance to the 308 GTB.

The air scoop those familiar with the 488 GTB may have expected to see is completely concealed on the side of the body where the sheet metal folds in on itself from the low beltline on the door and into the rear wheel arch.

Unfortunately, Ferrari has not revealed any details about what power and performance the car boasts. However, it seems highly likely it’s the 3.9-liter twin-turbo V-8 from the mid-engine 488, which in that particular case develops 660 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque.

This stunning car won’t just disappear behind the closed doors of the owner’s collection after this ceremonial handover. It will actually be on public display at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Italy’s Lake Como on May 26.

Since 2015, McDonald’s has been successfully organizing an Open Door Kitchen Tour  and building on the concept of trust with its customers.

Being the only eatery in Pakistan to take its devotees behind-the-scenes, the brand continues to take the bold step further, spreading awareness to its customers about hygiene and quality.

Recently, a group of bloggers and journalists were invited in collaboration with Brandsynario, to go behind the doors and see how their Mc meals were prepared.

Rolling out the red carpet for all food lovers!

Donning the appropriate  kitchen gear, hairnets, aprons, and face masks, the team kickstarted its grand visit to the do-it-all kitchen. The bloggers were taken on a guided tour by the manager to see McDonald ’s hi-tech and organised system.

The group was explained that the imported meat is kept in a freezer at a temperature of -15 C as per international standards to ensure it stays fresh.

The participants were also shown the different set of cloths used to clean the area – each area has a different colored cloth. Mc Donald’s also follows a strict process of hand sanitisation that have been made mandatory for all employees.

In fact, the tour guide highlighted the importance of timely cleaning (after every 30 minutes) and demonstrated how international standards were met by all staff members.

The most exciting part of the whole tour was the burger preparation!

The group observed how the oil was measured before and after usage. It is also completely replaced after two to three days of use.

What’s more, the observing party was impressed to witness the system and standards implemented to differentiate between multiple orders including the ones that are customised and the process of then converting the order in to a meal.

Every participant was shown how to make an ice cream & tried their hand at making the iconic cone.

In times when consumers have become more aware of hygiene standards, McDonald’s has been willingly leading the way to an open door policy.

While all fast food brands claim to offer food made with stringent hygiene processes, we all know that only a very few follow that requisite protocols and internationally certified standards.

However, McDonald’s has made sure they stand apart and create an atmosphere of comfort and trust regarding cleanliness and hygiene standards. They want to ensure that their most valued customers are made aware that the food they eat is prepared safely and is always  fresh!

Singer Humaira Arshad Files For Divorce From Husband Ahmed Butt

One of the popular singers of Pakistan Humaira Arshad has recently filed for Khula in Lahore’s family court from her husband actor/model Ahmed Butt.

While giving an interview to the media outlets outside the court, the singer shared the reason for khula for the third time from her husband, claiming that she is so done with the daily fights and violence.

She said:

I cannot live with him anymore as I am subjected to violence and am fed up of daily fights.

She further added that she has reconciled with Ahmed Butt in the past but despite all the efforts, things could not get better between them.

Humaira stated:

For the sake of my son, I had reconciled with my husband despite all our differences

This is not the first time that the songstress has taken this issue to the court. Back in 2015, the couple formally announced the decision of parting their ways through media. However, a few months later, they decided to get back together for the sake of their son.

Things didn’t get any better between the couple and they took the matter to the court again in 2017. This time, the singer alleged her husband of pulling her hair and beating her in public.

Warner Bros is set to produce an animated film based on an early book by the author of the “Game of Thrones” saga, a source familiar with the matter told AFP Wednesday.

The report, which first appeared on the specialty website Deadline, says that author George R.R. Martin will produce the film based on “The Ice Dragon,” published in 1980.

The book, written for young people, appeared well ahead of Martin’s “Game of Thrones” series and does not take place in the land of the Seven Kingdoms, the setting of the “Thrones” medieval fantasy series.

George R.R. Martin fans are eagerly awaiting the sixth “Game of Thrones” series, titled “The Winds of Winter,” which has been promised since 2012.

In late April, the author announced that readers will have to wait at least until 2019 to see the book published.

Martin has fallen so far behind in his book writing that the hit HBO TV series has already gone past the storyline in the books.

The much anticipated eighth and final season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” is expected in 2019.

ISPR Issues Cyber Alert for Pakistanis!

Last night, a warning was released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) about a malicious email being circulated throughout Pakistan that could harm one’s computer.

A cyber alert has been issued by the media wing of the military, informing the public of an email, under the name of ISPR, being sent from invite@ispr.press.

Muniba Mazari Gets Sued Again By Ex-Husband!

DG Major General of the Inter-Services Public Relations, Asif Ghafoor, took to Twitter to warn the public of the fake email. 

He also advised the public to not click on any link that asks for personal information to be entered into a form.

ISPR has further clarified that the email is a form of phishing that has no link at all to the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces. If opened, it could lead to loss of data along with harming your computer.

Consequently, it has advised that to not open any such email if received, instead report it as spam and delete it from your mailbox.

A press release, rolled out regarding the crisis, stated:

If opened inadvertently please don’t click on any link asking for information to be entered into a form or to unsubscribe. Clicking any link can compromise security of your PC /cell phone / iPad etc.

“ISPR Official domain name is ispr.gov.pk. There is no other domain.”

ISOR  has suggested sharing this information with people who are not aware of this fake email.

Rare Silk Koran Helps Preserve Afghanistan’s Cultural Heritage

One of the only Korans ever made from silk fabric has been completed in Afghanistan — a feat its creators hope will help preserve the country’s centuries-old tradition of calligraphy.

Each of the Islamic holy book’s 610 pages was produced by hand in a painstaking process that took a team of 38 calligraphers and artists specialising in miniatures nearly two years to finish.

Bound in goat leather and weighing 8.6 kilograms (19 pounds), the Koran was produced by Afghan artisans, many of them trained at British foundation Turquoise Mountain in Kabul.

“Our intention was to ensure that calligraphy does not die out in this country — writing is part of our culture,” Khwaja Qamaruddin Chishti, a 66-year-old master calligrapher, told AFP in a cramped office inside Turquoise Mountain’s labyrinthine mud-brick and wood-panelled complex.

With the Koran considered a sacred text, calligraphy is highly venerated in Islam and Islamic art.

“When it comes to art we cannot put a price on it. God has entrusted us with this work (the Koran)… and this means more to us than the financial aspect,” Chishti continued.

Using a bamboo or reed ink pen, Chishti and his fellow calligraphers spent up to two days carefully copying Koranic verses onto a single page — sometimes longer if they made a mistake and had to start again.

They used the Naskh script, a calligraphic style developed in early Islam to replace Kufic because it was easier to read and write.

The decoration around the script, known as illumination, was more time-consuming, each page taking more than a week to complete.

A team of artists used paint made from natural materials, including ground lapis, gold and bronze, to recreate the delicate patterns popular during the Timurid dynasty in the 15th and 16th centuries in the western city of Herat.

“All the colours we have used are from nature,” Mohammad Tamim Sahibzada, a master miniature artist who was responsible for creating the vibrant colours used in the Koran, told AFP.

Sahibzada said working on silk fabric for the first time was challenging. The locally sourced material — all 305 metres (1,000 feet) of it — was treated in a solution made from the dried seeds of ispaghula, or psyllium, to stop the ink from spreading.

– ‘Very rare’ –

Turquoise Mountain began work in 2006 in Kabul with the aim of preserving ancient Afghan craftsmanship, including ceramics, carpentry and calligraphy.

It hopes the silk Koran will generate demand for more handmade Islamic religious texts that could create employment for its artisans and help finance the institute.

“We will show it to other Islamic countries to see if it is possible to create job opportunities for graduates to work on another Koran,” said Abdul Waheed Khalili, the organisation’s Afghan director.

For now it will be kept in a specially made hand-carved walnut wooden box to protect its delicate pages from the elements at Turquoise Mountain’s offices, which are in the restored Murad Khani, a historic commercial and residential area in Kabul’s oldest district.

There Turquoise Mountain has trained thousands of artisans with the support of Britain’s Prince Charles, the British Council, and USAID.

“The copying of the Koran onto silk is very rare,” country director Nathan Stroupe told AFP.

He said the project has been “an amazing way to train our students at an incredibly high level in a very traditional type of work”.

“If a Saudi prince or a book collector in London… was interested in it, we would be thinking in the $100,000 to $200,000 (price) range,” he added.

Landing herself in a new controversy, the UN Women Pakistan Goodwill Ambassador has been sued again by her ex-husband for defamation.

Muniba Mazari’s Ex Husband Sues Her & She Gives an Awesome Response

On Tuesday, Muniba was presented with a notice by the Islamabad court to respond to the complaint, reports the Express Tribune.

Mazari was married to Khurram Shahzad, who is a former PAF pilot. The two had been married for 10 years (2005 – 2015) before going their separate ways.

In a surprising turn of events, Shahzad has accused Muniba of making defamatory and false statements against him on TV and social media.

This is not the first time that the social activist has been presented with a legal notice from her ex-husband.

For those unaware, Shahzad, in November 2017, had filed a defamation suit against his ex-wife but had to withdraw for technical reasons.

According to Shahzad, a legal notice was sent to Muniba in February in which he asked her to remove her defamatory tweets against him and issue an apology; however, she had refused.

Although he had initially demanded Rs.10 million in damages, Muniba’s ex-husband later dropped that amount in the revised petition and instead decided to seek only legal fees as damages.

According to Shahzad, Mazari on several occasions has ridiculed him on several occasions on different media platforms.

In the petition, he has highlighted several incidents in which Muniba had defamed him. One of them being her 2015 TedTalk where she narrated the accident in which the couple had been involved in that left her paralyzed from the waist down.

However, Shahzad disputed this and says that a donkey cart had suddenly appeared that led to him losing control of the car.

However, the petition filed against Mazari claimed:

Shahzad] falling asleep while driving’ is purely based on falsehood in order to ridicule the plaintiff, as the truth is that the accident occurred due to a donkey cart.

In another show, Muniba claimed that Shahzad had jumped out of the car to save himself.

However, according to the petition:

The statement is completely untrue as the plaintiff was inside the car while the accident took place.

Apart from that, Shahzad also produced several tweets in which Muniba had called him ‘greedy’ and accused him of cheating on her during their marriage.

According to the notice, Shahzad has sought Muniba to be permanently barred from making such statements along with deleting her earlier social media posts in which she had defamed him as well as produce an apology and pay the general damages.

And that’s not all!

He has also requested PEMRA to restrain her from making further such statements on television along with the PTA to remove or block the disputed statements online.

For now, the Islamabad sessions court has issued notices to Muniba and the two regulators to respond to the complaint on June 1 while also granting a temporary injunction restraining the respondent from defaming the petitioner.

Over the last few years, the technological and economic advancements in Pakistan has also given rise to people giving more attention to how they look. Personal grooming is considered one of the most important aspects of life that people in Pakistan are now paying attention to.

From the far-off villages to the modern society of major cities like Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, dressing sense has been elevated to a certain degree. The cultural values and the modern trends in clothing are also becoming aligned on same platforms.

Dressing, being one of the things that people notice about a person, holds much weight to it. Apart from commercial brands, there are people who are well-trained to meet the modern day requirement of the public.

Some of the best brands have set up their workshops in villages where rural women are getting chance to unleash their potential. Handmade clothing has a certain degree of personalization to it, every stitch depicts the resilience of these women who have stepped out of their homes to earn a sustainable livelihood and marketing their products in the today market.

Instead of the robotic stitches, the stitch a woman puts in a dress with her very own hands, every button that she puts in, states the art and potential of Pakistan and people of Pakistan in an unspeakable manner. And it is because of this fact that there is a huge demand for handmade dresses in the market and online handcrafted dresses over the websites and social media sites.

Pakistani handmade dresses are sold at quite a price overseas reason being the soul and the effort that our people, our women, put into the art of fashion designing and fine stitching.

They have this ability to give a very dope touch to one’s personality by polishing the aspect that the person is not only a true patriot but is also loyal to the people of their community who put a lot of effort in making dresses that stand-out. Also, these dresses make a bold statement of what our culture is and what our traditions are.

Pakistani culture is enriched with a heritage that is filled with true colors of spirit, bravery, empathy and moral values, Punjabi, Sindhi, Balochi, Pathan, Kashmiri, every part of Pakistan and its people represent the culture through their arts and crafts and especially their clothes. Each one of these, with some variations and changes, offer their own style that overall represents our culture in the modern world.

I, recently, came across a foundation in Pakistan which is working for women empowerment in Pakistan especially in the rural areas by providing those skills for training in fashion designing and stitching of these handmade clothes and training. I had a chance to visit the vocational training centers as well, where the females are taught basic to advanced skills to meet today market.

I was surprised to hear the stories of these women who by breaking all the stereotypes in their society are willing to go out of their homes and work in order to get a sustainable livelihood and to represent their cultures through the art of fashion designing.

Even sitting in the remote villages, they have access to modern day requirements so they know what’s and how’s of the generation’s fashion wear and style, and their work is up to the mark.

Nevertheless, we are people with rich tradition and we should be supporting the work of these resilient women, whether being portrayed in some major brand shop or go to the grass-root level for a meet and greet and if possible even buy their art which they have all laid out in form of handmade clothes.

Who can forget Pakistan’s icon Junaid Jamshed? The heart and soul of Pakistani’s across the world, a new Junaid Jamshed mosque has been built in Karachi to honor his memory and pay a tribute to this legendary artist-turned-scholar.

December 7th, 2016 – a date that would remain, forever etched into the minds of Pakistani’s across the world. It was on that day when the tragic news of a plane crashed was broadcast on television. The same plane in which Junaid Jamshed and his second wife, Nayha Junaid were aboard.

It was on this fateful day when the idol for many Pakistani’s was returning from a Tablighi mission in Chitral, when the PIA flight 661 crashed near Havelian on the way back from Islamabad, killing all the passengers on board.

His presence has always held a special place in our hearts and ever since his sudden departure from the world, a void had been left ever since.

In memory of the larger-than-life personality that he was, a beautiful masjid that has been named after him was inaugurated yesterday, in Karachi.

Located at Singer Chowarangi at J. Unit 2 the interiors of the mosque are a stunning combination of modern architecture and Islamic culture, making it an exquisite sight to behold.

With a beige and blue combination accentuated with polished woodwork, the stained windows of the mosque and the stunning chandelier add an ethereal feel to the overall mosque.

Cyclone Heading Towards Karachi: Met Office

Pakistan Metrological Department has warned that a cyclone being developed in the Arabian Sea is heading toward Karachi, reports Pakistan Today, The Nation and Samaa News.

A remnant of Cyclone Sagar, killing dozens in Somalia with its heavy rain, is making its way towards the coast of Oman, which is 200 kilometers from Karachi.

The press release by PMD said:

Yesterday’s well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest Arabian Sea now lies as a “Depression” near latitude 9.50N and 57.00E approximately 1330 Km south of Masirah Island, Oman. It is very likely to intensify into a Tropical Storm during next 24 hrs and is expected to move north-westwards (towards the Yemen-Oman coast).

However,  PMD is monitoring the intensity and track of this strong weather system and will release an advisory if the situation becomes alarming.

Meanwhile, reports by Geo News reveal that Karachi faces no threat from the cyclone and no effects will be witnessed in the city.

Heatwave in Karachi: At least 65 Reported Dead from Heatstroke

The rising temperature in Karachi has taken a toll on the life of the locals, resulting in the death of 65 people, reports Dawn News.

Faisal Edhi of the Edhi Foundation told Dawn that amongst 114 bodies brought in to the foundation’s morgues in Karachi’s Korangi and Sohrab Goth area in the past three days, 65 of them had passed away due to the heatstroke.

‘I’m Sorry’, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg Tells European Lawmakers

Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg apologized to the European Parliament on Tuesday and said the social media giant is taking steps to prevent a repeat of a massive breach of users’ personal data.

Zuckerberg also pledged to keep investing in Europe as he made the latest stop on a tour of contrition over the Cambridge Analytica scandal that began in the US Congress in April.

Zuckerberg told the livestreamed hearing in Brussels that it has become clear in the last two years that Facebook executives “haven’t done enough to prevent these tools from being used for harm”.

“And that goes for fake news, foreign interference in elections or developers misusing people’s information. We didn’t take a broad enough view of our responsibility,” he said.

“That was a mistake, and I’m sorry for it.”

Facebook admitted that up to 87 million users may have had their data hijacked by British consultancy Cambridge Analytica, which worked for US President Donald Trump during his 2016 campaign.

The Silicon Valley giant has told the European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, that the personal data of up to 2.7 million Europeans may have been sent inappropriately to Cambridge Analytica, which has since filed for bankruptcy in the US.

The Facebook chief welcomed the EU’s sweeping new personal data protection rules, which come into effect in three days, saying that his website was adopting similar steps.

– ‘Keeping people safe’ –

Zuckerberg said Facebook was bringing in new features including a special “clear history” button that would allow them to delete any cookies or browsing history details it stores.

He also told the leaders of the European Parliament’s political groups that Facebook would make fresh investments to protect its users in the wake of the scandal.

“It’s going to take time to work through all of the changes we must make. But I’m committed to getting it right, and to make the significant investments needed to keep people safe,” he added.

“I expect this will significantly impact our profitability. But I want to be clear: keeping people safe will always be more important than maximizing our profits.”

Zuckerberg meanwhile admitted that Facebook had been “too slow to identify Russian interfering” in the 2016 US presidential ballot, but was working with European governments for future elections.

Facebook also serves a valuable social role with tens of thousands of people have used its Safety Check feature “after the recent terrorist attacks in Berlin, Paris, London and here in Brussels”, Zuckerberg said.

The Facebook chief staged a U-turn on Monday and agreed to the hearing being webcast, in a further bid to limit the fallout from the data scandal.

Angry EU lawmakers had objected to initial plans for it to be held behind closed doors.

European Parliament President Antonio Tajani, who welcomed Zuckerberg to parliament, urged him to ensure people’s data was respected.

In April, Tajani rejected Zuckerberg’s initial offer to send a more junior executive in his place, saying it would be a “big mistake” for him not to answer questions from an elected body that regulates a market of 500 million people, many of them Facebook users.

Tajani said MEPs want to know if “people used data for changing the position of the citizens”, including during the shock 2016 referendum for Britain to leave the EU.

– ‘Hear the truth’ –

Objecting to a closed-door hearing, MEPs insisted Zuckerberg face a grilling similar to his 10-hour interrogation in US Congress last month.

Guy Verhofstadt, who heads the ALDE liberals group in parliament, dropped his plan to boycott the event now that it would be “transparent and public”.

Inviting Europeans to send him questions for Zuckerberg, Verhofstadt, a former Belgian prime minister, tweeted that EU citizens “deserve to hear the truth”.

EU Justice Commissioner Vera Jourova recently paid Zuckerberg a backhanded compliment for having admitted that the Facebook scandal showed the need for strict new rules despite the reluctance of US internet giants.

The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into effect on Friday, aims to give users more control over how their personal information is stored and used online, with big fines for firms that break the rules.

Zuckerberg, who has repeatedly apologized for the massive data breach, told the US Congress in April that the more stringent EU rules could serve as a model globally.

While several rumors have already taken over social media, the latest report from Japanese media outlet, Mac Otakara, suggests iPhone X SE (iPhone SE 2) might be launched in September 2018.

The report further adds that Apple’s upcoming addition will be of midrange all will be packed with iPhone X’s signature feature, Face Unlock.

Whereas reported by RS-News, Mac Otakara has been cited as saying that the iPhone SE 2 seems to be “unlikely to make an appearance in the second quarter of 2018”, as indicated by a source near a Chinese supplier.

We have yet to learn how Apple is managing a feature like a face recognition for a mid-range smartphone. Our guess is they will be bidding farewell to a couple of other features.

On the other hand, the iPhone X SE will probably be equipped with a 4.2-in LCD display with wireless charging and no headphone jack (most likely).
