‘Ocean’s 8,’ A Glamorous Crime Tale For The #MeToo Age

Mahira Khan’s Epic Reply to Hamza Ali Abbasi Has Won the Internet

Twitter is a battlefield these days and there is an aggressive war going on between Reham Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi.

Apparently, Reham is all set to release her autobiography and the controversial book is all that the world is talking about.

Not only Khan has attacked Imran Khan and accused him of sexual harassment, she has also named and shamed some of the biggest political and influential big-wigs of Pakistan.

Kaptaan’s close aides Hamza Ali Abbasi and Salman Ahmed are leaving no stone unturned to strike back at Reham.

However, the fiery exchange of barbs between both the parties has started to irk the Twitterverse and we wonder when all the meltdown will die down.

Seems like Mahira Khan too is hating all the drama and did not shy away from correcting Abbasi on a contentious Tweet.

While Hamza was on his usual mission to bash Reham, he ended up offending many of his followers!

People were quick to point out that he was belittling women with his view.

Rising to the occasion was Mahira who wisely amended his tweet, making it all about empowering both men and women!

Don’t we all just love MK for her stong idea? At the end of the day, we need to realize that you don’t need to put one woman down to put another one up.

Meesha Shafi too lauded the Raees starlet for her courage to call out at Hamza Ali Abbasi!

We are really left in awe of Khan and the way she has stated her point without being hateful towards her friend Hamza!

What Clients Should Do To Get Better Results From Their Agencies!

When Marc Pritchard says something, the communications industry raises its collective ears….or should. Usually, whatever the marketing boss at Procter & Gamble – the biggest advertiser in the world – has to say does not just interest his own organization: it is also seized upon by competitors, agencies and, last but not least, the international (trade) press. After all, the FMCG giant is still considered a bellwether for the strategy and organizational structure of big businesses as regards marketing and advertising.

Pritchard’s speeches at the conferences of the US advertisers’ association ANA and its British counterpart, the ISBA, in early March attracted the industry’s attention as per usual. After summarising the five-point plan for digital marketing which he presented in the previous year (bottom line: there have been some changes but there is still a lot to do), Pritchard is now looking at agencies and their internal organizational structure.

Pritchard highlights ‘lack of creativity’

The main thrust of his argument is that agencies spend too much time on administrative tasks. Creativity does not enjoy the status it should have. Pritchard estimates that less than half of agency staff are involved in creative output. He believes, however, that creatives should account for three-quarters of agencies’ resources. According to Pritchard, there are lots of surplus staff in account management and planning. ‘Too much energy is spent on conference calls, meetings and offsite and time is wasted on conference reports and PowerPoint presentations, dimming and ultimately extinguishing creativity,’ he says. He is also asking for media and creative teams to work together again. ‘Many of us rue
the day that media agencies split from advertising agencies,’ explains Pritchard.

Of course, these statements must be viewed in the light of the current situation at Procter & Gamble. The multinational wants to slash its marketing spend by a total of two billion US dollars, so it should come as no surprise that agencies are also being called upon to cut costs and simplify. Nevertheless, there is more to Pritchard’s demands than just cost-cutting. The fact is that what he’s asking for is sensible and logical is supported by the fact that many agencies have already completed shake-ups or are in the process of doing so. It’s worth taking a closer look at the issues at stake – not least the collaboration between clients and agencies.

Firstly, even though Procter & Gamble is a forerunner, not everything that applies to P&G holds true of all advertisers. It is true that P&G primarily requires creative input from advertising agencies and has little need of strategic consultancy and brand management services.

After all, these are among the key capabilities of the multinational, which is strongly driven by marketing. However, there is no doubt that some – indeed most – firms do rely on support from external service providers in these fields.

Nevertheless, there is no denying the proliferation in agencies’ service portfolios over the years. In some cases, they now offer services which have very little to do with their real raison d’être. The extent to which clients have driven this trend – for example by paying too little for agencies’ core product, i.e. creative output – is another matter.

This leads to the question of client-agency collaboration. Client organization with regards to marketing is at least as important as the way in which agencies are structured. The consultancy APRAIS, which specializes in analyzing the working relationships between clients & agencies, provides important insights into this.

The APRAIS Regional Director (South & West Asia/Africa), Sunil Gupta, using David Ogilvy’s trenchant observation of over half a century ago (“Clients get the advertising they deserve”), summarises APRAIS’ key message as follows: ‘The client sets the limits of its agency’s performance.’ In other words, the way in which firms manage their marketing and marcomm has a major impact on the impact and results delivered by their advertising agencies. ‘Badly organized clients can engage the best agencies – to no avail,’ emphasizes Gupta.

APRAIS shows “Better organized clients get better results”

A recent evaluation by APRAIS confirms that well-organized marketing departments receive a better service. From its database of 18,000+ reciprocal agency-client evaluations, the consultancy filtered out those focusing on collaboration. From this sample of 1,701, it isolated the 10 percent of clients who were best and worst at collaborating. APRAIS also refers to them as the ‘best and worst directors’ of agency collaboration.

The findings show that client teams which orchestrate their agencies optimally receive many better-integrated solutions. On a scale of 0 (never) to 100 (always), the score is 85 for top clients and just 50 for the worst-ranking clients. Results for creative output, media planning and – above all – digital are also much better for well-organized marketers (see figure 1).

Conversely – and unsurprisingly – the evaluation showed that these clients also performed well in the categories which are most important for the agency collaboration. For instance, advertising agencies awarded the optimally organized marketing teams much better grades for the quality of their briefings, approval and overall management processes and for their partner-like dealings with one another (see figure 2).

In other words, the evaluation by APRAIS clearly shows that it is not enough for companies like P&G to call on agencies to change and adapt their structures. Clients also need to adopt a professional organizational structure that caters to current requirements in order to ensure effective collaboration. Failure to do this means that clients ultimately receive worse integrated solutions – even if they hire top agencies.

PSL 4 Matches to be Played in Pakistan?

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Wishes to hold Pakistan Super league PSL season 4 with the country.

In a meeting to be held on June 12th, it will be finalized whether the edition will be played abroad or on the home ground,

Earlier, PCB had decided to make sure at least half the matches be played in Pakistan while the rest be played in either the UAE or Malasia.

However, due to some issues from both sides causing them to have misunderstandings between both parties. PCB Chairman Najam Sethi had previously mentioned that if UAE plans to host other leagues in between October and March, PCB will change its venue.

PSL Venue Likely to be Changed For Future Matches

One franchise official said;

“We don’t think there is any point of hosting the PSL in UAE now. We are here to do business and this does not seem like a good deal because if the tournament is being organized in the UAE, with so much T20 and T10 cricket around, we will not be getting the best possible sponsorship deals due to the saturation in the market. Broadcasters will also not be paying us sufficient amount of money for the tournament and we don’t think people will want to come to the grounds for the matches as well. We genuinely believe having next edition of PSL in Pakistan is a viable option as the country’s law and order situation has vastly improved.”

Another franchise official believes that PSL in Pakistan will be a success. He said;

“Recently we’ve seen great rivalry building up between franchises, which is great news for the competition. Once we have the PSL in Pakistan, we can attract hundreds and thousands of followers of each franchise to the ground, which means even if big name players don’t come to the country, it will not hurt the brand’s image in the long run.”

What’s your take on this, will PSL 4 be a hit or a miss at home ground?

Jemima Khan Breaks Silence On Reham Khan’s Upcoming Book

Reham Khan’s upcoming autobiography has become one of the biggest controversies on social media.

With the manuscript leaked online, the book’s content has angered several people due to the nature of allegations against some of the biggest names in Pakistan, including Hamza Ali Abbasi, Wasim Akram, and various political figures.

And now Goldsmith has full plans to sue IK’s second wife if her biography ever hits the bookshelves in the U.K.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Jemima stated:

On Reham Khan’s book I’ve been assured that it’s too libellous to be published in the UK but if it is published here, I will be suing for defamation and breach of privacy on behalf of my (then) 16-year-old son and in relation to the moronic, re-hashed Zionist conspiracy theories.

Several fans lauded Jemima for being the graceful ex and supported the lady for taking a stand against Reham.

And one of them was none other than, Hamza Ali Abbasi who too has been indirectly linked in the autobiography.

Extending his support to Jemima, he tweeted:

You are a gem Jemima!!!! We r all sorry for this.

However, it’s not just Hamza and Jemima who are irked by these accusations. The former cricketer, Wasim Akram too spoke out against claims made by Reham against him in her book.

An excerpt from the book allegedly makes sagacious claims about the private life of the cricket superstar and his deceased wife.

A “pre-action defamation protocol” letter, addressed to Reham Khan by a law firm representing Ijaz Rehman, Wasim Akram, Imran Khan’s close aide Zulfi Bukhari, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Anila Khawaja, claims that the manuscript of her purported autobiography titled ‘Reham Khan’ contains a “litany of malicious, false, incorrect, highly misleading, callous, wanton, tortious, prejudicial, damaging, libelous and defamatory” imputations against its clients.

However, Reham seemed unfazed by the storm she had created and went on to tweet:

It seems that this debate won’t be dying down soon!

Hollywood Plans Bob Marley Biopic

The story of Bob Marley, the Jamaican superstar who in his short life brought reggae into the global mainstream, is set to become a Hollywood biopic.

A representative for Paramount Pictures confirmed Wednesday that the studio was developing a film on the life of Marley, who died in 1981 at age 36.

The studio did not offer further details but news site Deadline Hollywood said that the reggae legend’s son Ziggy Marley, himself a successful reggae musician, was leading production plans.

The late legend has already been featured extensively in concert movies and documentaries, notably the 2012 film “Marley” by Scottish director Kevin Macdonald which brought together archival footage and interviews.

Any Hollywood biopic is likely to be scrutinized in Jamaica and abroad over what it chooses to emphasize.

Marley has become loved by global audiences for hits such as “No Woman, No Cry” and “Redemption Song,” but diehard fans often question whether casual listeners appreciate his Afrocentrism, his Rastafarian faith or his major influence as a peacemaker within Jamaica.

Marley’s fame has only grown since his death, which was triggered by cancer in a toe.

“Legend,” a greatest-hits collection released in 1984, has spent more non-consecutive weeks on the benchmark US album chart than any work other than Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon.”
