Maryam Nawaz Loses Her Cool on Twitter in a Reply to Imran Khan!

With elections just around the corner, the competition between Pakistan’s political parties is getting intense. Each day brings new twists and turns of sorts, making the upcoming polls even more heated and debatable.

The latest addition to all these  “controversies” is the fiery online interaction between PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz Sharif and PTI’s chairman, Imran Khan!

School Summer Vacations 2018 Extended in Sindh!

A few days back, Kaptan Khan had tweeted a quote with a message for all the Pakistanis to go out and vote in the upcoming elections.

A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything” – Malcolm X. This is for all those Pakistanis who are intending not to vote in the coming historical elections on the 25 of July.

The leader reminded the nation that those who do not stand up for anything will only gain ignorance. A strong message delivered in a subtle manner, the tweet invited a lot of comments from his followers.

But it was Maryam Nawaz’s reply that really caught our attention!

Apparently, the politician had a few questions for the cricketer-turned-politician and took to Twitter to express herself with some pretty strong remarks.

Retweeting Imran’s post, Sharif’s daughter totally lost her cool will responding to Imran Khan.

What do you stand for? Khalayi Makhlooq? Conspiracies? Umpire ki ungli? Sadiq Sanjrani? Dictations? Sponsored Dharnas? Sponsored politics ?

However, it seems that this tweet did not go down too well with Imran’s followers who immediately came to his defense and bashed the lady for questioning him.

It looks like Maryam is leaving no stone unturned to question these leaders before the elections and at the same time, indirectly support her own party!

What did you think of Maryam’s tweet? Tell us in the comments.

Karachi Teen Drowns in Swat River While Trying to Record Video

Karachi teen, Sheraz Khan, drowned in Swat while attempting to record a video of him going near the water to show his cousin he was not afraid.

The 19-year-old can be seen in a clip going to the edge of the rocks, however, he slipped and fell into the fast-moving flow, and eventually drowned.

India Slams WhatsApp over Deadly Rumours

Sheraz was an electrical engineer student who was visiting the northern area along with his uncle and cousin.

The devastated relative said: ‘During the whole trip he used to stop me from going close to the river. He was very scared of the river. I used to make fun of him that “you are afraid, be a man”.

‘As we were about to leave, Sheraz requested me to make his video as he will go close to the river and will show me that he was not afraid. I never thought that this could happen. I curse myself for not stopping him.’

Bollywood Actress Sonali Bendre Diagnosed With High Grade Cancer

Sheraz’s maternal uncle, Khan Muhammad, said: “It was around 6 pm and we were about to leave for home. I went to the hotel to check out and Sheraz and Yaseen went to the riverside to shot few pictures.”

“As I ventured into the hotel, I heard Yaseen shouting ‘Ya Allah’ (Oh Allah) several times. I rushed and saw Sheraz drowning into the fast flowing river. Scores of people gathered near the spot but we all were so helpless that we could see him drowning but couldn’t help him.’ The incident has left us all in deep shock. We are too unlucky to lose him this way but who can fight fate.”

A rescue team was on site within 10 minutes of Sheraz falling into the river, however, they were unable to find his body and resurrect him. The body surfaced the next day 30 miles from the accident site near Manghora.

Sheraz’s father Ghulab Saeed said: “My biggest fear was when I was told that his body has not been recovered yet. I prayed to God that may we get his body so that I could bury him with my hands.”

The young Karachiite’s passing is a lesson to all the younger generation adventure-seeking teenagers that the smallest mistake can lead to uncertain outcomes. If his cousin would not have provoked him, and if he would have just said no, the outcome would have been different.

Heavy Rain Creates a Giant Sink Hole in Lahore!

Roll on 2022: Asia Seeks More World Cup Shocks in Qatar

Asian teams weren’t expected to make an impact at the World Cup but a record points haul and some stunning performances against top sides have lifted their hopes for Qatar 2022.

South Korea’s 2-0 dethroning of defending champions Germany could have been viewed as a one-off, if not for Japan’s heartbreaking defeat to star-studded Belgium days later in the last 16.

Iran also came desperately close to beating Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, the European title-holders, in another sign that smaller teams may be closing the gap on the game’s traditional powers.

None of the Asian Football Confederation teams reached the quarter-finals, extending a barren run which stretches back to the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.

But Japan, South Korea, and Iran departed Russia with their heads held high and positive expectations for Qatar 2022, when the World Cup returns to AFC territory for the first time in 20 years.

“The AFC nations can take great encouragement from this year’s World Cup,” Andy Jackson of FourFourTwo magazine told AFP.

“(They) can look forward to 2022 and an AFC-hosted World Cup in Qatar with the hope of being one of the nations causing some of the famous upsets we’ve seen so far in Russia.”

AFC teams amassed 15 points in Russia, their best showing yet — and overshadowing Africa’s representatives Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Senegal, who went home after the group stage with 11 points between them.

– ‘Stand with the world’s elite’ –

However, Saudi Arabia, another AFC side, never recovered from their 5-0 spanking by Russia in the tournament’s opening game, and Australia — the Asian champions — also had a World Cup to forget.

Despite looking competitive in their group games against France, Denmark, and Peru, the Socceroos failed to win a game and they went home without scoring a goal from open play.

Out of the Asian teams, Japan emerged with the most credit after they reached the last 16 and were 2-0 up against Belgium with 21 minutes to go — before the Belgians launched one of the great World Cup comebacks, clinching a 3-2 win in injury time.

“Japan showed great quality and character to battle bravely with one of the best teams in the tournament,” said AFC president Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.

“Their success exemplifies the great progress of Asian teams to stand proudly with the world’s elite.”

Japan’s image was also burnished by images of their fans tidying up stadiums after games — while a picture of Japan’s spotless changing room, with a thank you note in Russian, went viral after the Belgium defeat.

“This Japanese team and its supporters left with their heads held high and their standing and respect in world football greatly enhanced,” Jackson said.

Pakistan Knocks Hosts Zimbabwe Out of T20I Series

Pakistan knocked Zimbabwe out of the Twenty20 tri-series in Harare in a closely-fought encounter on Wednesday, beating the hosts by seven wickets with five deliveries to spare.

Opener Fakhar Zaman top-scored for Pakistan with 47 before captain Sarfraz Ahmed overcame a spirited Zimbabwean fightback and saw his side home with an unbeaten 38.

Their efforts meant that Zimbabwean allrounder Solomon Mire’s bellicose earlier innings earlier went in vain.

Mire struck 94, the highest score by a Zimbabwean in Twenty20 internationals, but Zimbabwe’s 162 for 4 was not enough to overcome the world’s top-ranked T20 side.

Zaman said Pakistan was always confident they could pull off a successful chase.

“We have a very deep batting line-up, so we were confident we could chase it,” he said.

Pakistan has given a rapid start by Zaman and fellow opener Haris Sohail, who took 56 from the Powerplay.

Sohail holed out soon afterward, but Zaman continued to show the sort of touch that made him vital to Pakistan’s successful Champions Trophy run last year.

Mixing aggression with an ability to maneuver the ball around the field, he cracked four fours and a six.

The tactic spoke volumes about his development as a limited-overs batsman.

“In the start in T20 I was hitting every ball in my striking zone, but after playing eight to 10 games I sat with some senior players like Shoaib Malik and Sarfraz Ahmed, and spoke about my gameplans with them,” Zaman explained.

“I realised that I could play proper cricket shots and be successful (in T20), and that’s what I’ve been doing recently.”

– Ahmed’s deft touch –

He may have learned even more from Ahmed’s innings of calm precision that kept Pakistan up with an asking rate that hovered around eight for much of the match.

Executing his attacking strokes perfectly, Ahmed found the gaps and the boundaries whenever they were needed.

He displayed a particularly deft touch with his late cut, taking boundaries off left-arm spinners Tendai Chisoro and Wellington Masakadza with the stroke.

With four runs needed from the final over, it was also the shot he used to end the game, gliding seamer Chris Mpofu to the third man boundary.

Where Ahmed’s innings was one of finesse, Mire’s 63-ball 94 for Zimbabwe showcased big-hitting ability.

Mire started slowly, but hit his first six into the stands beyond long leg to move into the 20s and was soon smashing Pakistan’s attack to all corners of the ground.

Mire’s fourth six took him to a 32-ball half century, his first in this format, and he wasn’t done there.

He collected a fifth six with a huge strike down the ground off Mohammad Nawaz’ left-arm spin, and then lifted fast bowler Mohammad Amir for the biggest hit of the day, over the roof of the three stories stand beyond midwicket.

He eventually fell for 94 attempting another big hit, but his 64-run third wicket stand with Tarisai Musakanda boosted Zimbabwe to a respectable total after two poor outings in this tournament.

“We were expecting 130 to 140 on this pitch, but Mire played a very good inning,” said Zaman.

It was not enough to beat Pakistan, however, who have now assured a place in Sunday’s final against Australia.

FIFA World Cup 2018: Brazil Seeks to Crush Hopes of Belgium’s ‘Golden Generation’

Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has admitted he has no secrets as he plots to end Brazil’s bid for a record-extending sixth World Cup ahead of their “dream” quarter-final in Kazan on Friday.

But the nation’s “Golden Generation” have been reminded that the match against the favorites could represent the last chance for them to shine on the world stage.

“It’s a dream match for our players,” Martinez told Belgian press after sealing qualification for the last eight with a last-gasp 3-2 victory over Japan in the first phase of the knockout rounds.

“There won’t be many secrets to the game. We have to defend as well as we can and then punish them when we have the ball.

“It’s that simple, and this team is ready for that.”

On paper, a Belgium side containing the talents of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City and Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku have the potential to cause a World Cup upset.

But despite sailing through the group stage, Martinez’s ambitious Red Devils have their work cut out if they are to go all the way to the July 15 final in Moscow.

Third-ranked Belgium reached the quarter-finals in 2014 in Brazil but before that the last time they got so far was in 1986 when ‘Little Prince’ Frank Vercauteren steered them to the semi-finals before a Diego Maradona double ended their hopes in a 2-0 defeat in Mexico.

Vercauteren said before the tournament that Russia represented “perhaps one of the last chances for this generation of players to live up to expectations because in 2022 a lot of them won’t be there”.

On Monday, Belgium mounted a stirring fightback to beat Japan, with Nacer Chadli scoring the winner in the 94th minute.

Becoming the first team in 48 years to overcome a 2-0 deficit in a World Cup knockout match was a “proud” moment for Martinez, who said: “That was a test for the team and its character.”

– Neymar threat –

Despite scoring nine times in wins over Panama (3-0), Tunisia (5-2) and England (1-0) before the Japan game, Belgium will have to lift their game significantly to beat a well-drilled Brazil side increasingly dancing to the tune of star forward Neymar.

Neymar signaled he had well and truly put a recent injury lay-off behind him with an incisive performance in a 2-0 win over Mexico in Samara, where he scored the opener and set up Roberto Firmino for his maiden World Cup goal.

Even more is expected from Neymar, whose pace, technique and all-around vision allied to Willian’s slick movement gave Brazil another dimension.

For all Brazil’s attacking riches, Belgium’s biggest problem could be piercing a robust defense that has conceded just once, in their 1-1 opening draw with Switzerland.

Brazil center-back pairing Joao Miranda and Thiago Silva have been solid and will aim to keep it that way as the five-time champions target a place in the semi-finals and a match with either France or Uruguay.

“We’re progressing, that’s evident,” Silva said after their win over Mexico. “It was a complicated match against a dangerous side, but we were solid at the back.”

Mistakes such as the ones that allowed Japan to grab a two-goal lead are sure to be punished by Neymar but it is Brazil’s defense that is also catching the eye of observers.

“As a former defender, I love watching Silva and Miranda play,” former France defender William Gallas said in his role as a consultant for French radio station RMC.

“They’re the best centre-back partnership of this World Cup.”
