Russian Technology Firm Shows Interest in Investing in Pakistan

A Russian tech firm called Nano Tubes has shown interest in investing in Pakistan.

The firm has expressed interest in Pakistan’s electric vehicle industry.

Press Information Department (PID) has shared a statement from the delegation of a private Russian company led by Mr. Kim called on Federal Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam on Wednesday.

During the conversation, Mr. Kim shared that Nano Tubes has been using all sorts of material to enhance conductivity.

He further added that their product is microscopic and is widely used in electric batteries, LED screens, solar panels, construction material, tires, plastics, clothes, and conductors.

Malik Amin Aslam was pleased to further discuss this opportunity and said that an electric vehicle policy was on cards.

We want to make Pakistan hub for right-hand-drive electric vehicles all across the world. Proposed policy will offer tariff incentives in order to make EV prices at par with conventional vehicles -Malik Amin Aslam

Malik added, “Pakistan is a huge market for two and three-wheelers and there is immense potential for investment.”

Pakistani Students Can Now Stay in the UK for 2 Years After Graduating!

We all know that, as Pakistani passport holders, we are not always faced with the best visa policies internationally.

More often than not our best bet is to get admission in an international university and enter the country on student visa.

In the UK, for example, the current UK visa policy (made in 2012 by former home secretary Theresa May) for Pakistani students allows bachelors/masters graduates to look for work within four months only.

However, it has now been decided that considerable relaxation will be granted to students who complete their bachelors/masters in the UK: under new proposals announced by the Home Office, International students will be allowed to job-hunt in the UK for 2 years after graduating.

“There is no limit on the number of international students that can study in the UK,” said the Department for Education.

Aimed at increasing the number of international students from 460,000 to 600,000 over the next 10 years, the new visa policy will come in effect from next year.

Thanks to the new visa policy, graduates will get the time and chance to find a suitable long term employment.

There is a common belief that two female actors cannot be friends, especially if they’re both contending for the number one spot in the industry.

In a recent interview at The Munshi Show, the Cheekh star was asked if she and Mahira Khan are friends.

“There is no such problem between us,” she cleared in case people start assuming a catfight between the two superstars.

Heroines can be friendly and civil with each other but that doesn’t always mean that they are friends. Maybe it means that they’re just competitors in the same industry who are extremely busy with work.

Both the favourites are phenomenal actors with a huge fan following on both sides of the border. While Mahira bagged a role opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Raees, Saba Qamar made sure Bollywood was aware of her talent through Hindi Medium.

While we’d love to see the leading ladies star in a project together, we’re not sure when that will happen. However, as long as they aren’t enemies, we can still be hopeful.

The Queen has appointed British Pakistani businessperson Zameer Choudrey, Chief Executive of Bestway Group to the House of Lords.

Reportedly, former Prime Minister Theresa May had recognised key political aides, a sporting hero and business leaders in her resignation honor list in an announcement earlier.

Choudrey’s appointment as the Lord is a huge achievement for Pakistan and yet another milestone in the nation’s glorious history.

Choudrey CBE is the nephew of Sir Anwar Pervez, founder of the Bestway Group. Choudrey will formally take oath in a few weeks to officially become a member of the House of Lords.

It is an immense honour. I am truly humbled to have been appointed to the House of Lords. I have always viewed the UK to be the land of opportunity and I look forward to contributing to the continued advancement of our great country. -Choudery to Geo News

This appointment also recognizes his contributions and efforts to Britain’s foreign and domestic trade and for his vast array of philanthropic work both in the UK and abroad. He is also Chairman of the Conservative Friends of Pakistan.

Heinz has released a new bottle that tries to educate us on how to finally pour correctly.

The Pour-Perfect bottle features a tilted label at a position that the brand refers to as “the perfect pouring angle.”

A Heinz Canada spokesperson told Food & Wine that the perfect angle is between 35 and 45 degrees, so you should hold your bottle a little closer to a horizontal position than a vertical one.

The angle allows a generous flow of ketchup that is enough for you to enjoy the flavour. For now, this bottle is only available in Canada.

According to Brian Neumann, senior brand manager at Kraft Heinz Canada, the brand wants to strengthen the emotional connection with the consumers.

“This year, we have focused our marketing on reinforcing the emotional connection fans have with the brand in clever and ownable ways. …We’re always thinking of fun, cheeky ways we can highlight the iconic and timeless nature of the product to give our consumers a smile.”

PUBG MOBILE Gamers paved their Way to Victory with the realme 3 pro

realme powered by Oppo, the fastest growing smartphone brand in Pakistan, organized popular mobile game PUBG Mobile (Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds) tournament in Lahore.

PUBG Mobile has been creating waves worldwide, particular seeing a huge surge in popularity among Pakistani youth.

Pakistani Director Wins Best Short Film Award for Darling at Venice Film Fest!

As the national atmosphere continues to grow more tense and fear of war increases with each passing day due to the Indo-Pak and Kashmir issue, it is a breath of fresh air to see pnews about a Pakistani’s achievement.

28 year-old Pakistani filmmaker, Saim Sadiq has recently won the Best Short Film Award for Darling at the Venice Film Fest (VFF). The VFF is where Darling premiered and qualified as ’Pakistan’s first film to project in front of the oldest movie ’gala’s audience.

Starring Alina Khan, a transgirl from Lahore who made her acting debut in the film, Darling has also been chosen for Berlin and the Cannes film festivals.

A trans themed movie, Darling aims to represent the extremely underprivileged and underrepresented Trans community of Pakistan, in which a trans girl and a young boy are shown in love.

Moreover, another short film by Sadiq, Nice Talking To You won the Best Director Award at the Columbia University Film Festival last year.

The 76th annual Venice International Film Festival was held from 28 August to 7 September 2019. Film director Lucrecia Martel was appointed as the President of the Jury. The Truth, directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, was selected to open the festival. The Golden Lion was awarded to Joker, directed by Todd Phillips.

Apparently, Sadiq had not expected his short film to get chosen! Take a look at what he said in an interview with Arab News:

“I sent it in during the open submission call with zero expectations that it would be chosen. Through luck or something we got in.”

Last we heard on the case was when matters were taken to court and some of Fatima’s claims on Mohsin were confirmed while others were refused. Mohsin even posted a ‘celebratory’ video on social media in felicitation.

Nazish is also Mohsin’s alleged girlfriend, and not too long ago rumors of them legitimizing their relationship by getting married also went viral. Mohsin and Nazish had both trashed any rumors of their relationship earlier.

Burger King Finds Another Opportunity to Tease McDonald’s!

The release of “IT: Chapter 2” featuring scary clown named Pennywise has given Burger King yet another opportunity to troll rival McDonald’s.

Burger King Germany launched a campaign that recommends McDonald’s consumers to “Escape the Clown,” a reference to the chain’s classic clown mascot, Ronald McDonald by running towards shelter.

While visiting a McDonald’s restaurant, customers will get a geo-targeted message on Facebook or Instagram that tells them to log on to the Burger King app to scan an article in McDonald’s movie magazine.

An “Escape the Clown” button will emerge, which when clicked would display an augmented reality (AR) red balloon, a reference to IT and a coupon for a one-cent Whopper.

Guests have a restricted time to “flee and run” from McDonald’s, reach Burger King and redeem the coupon. The app also guides customers to find the shortest route to its nearest restaurant.

Those who make it in time can redeem the coupon for a real one-cent Whopper.

All guests are welcome at Burger King — including those who flee the clown in fear,” Klaus Schmäing, Burger King Deutschland’s director of marketing, said in a statement.

The chain first started trolling McDonald’s about clowns back when IT came out in 2017.

It proposed the following words: “The Moral is: Never Trust a Clown… Burger King”.
