Here’s How You Can Easily Reduce Debt On Your Credit Cards

credit card debt

Whether it’s shopping, food, or heading out to the spa – a lot of us rely on credit cards to ease our stress of expenses. When it comes to credit cards, it is mostly a substitute for easy money.

People who are living on a fixed source of income, having a credit card in hand is like having a magical key to all-time money access. However, a credit card is beneficial for solely those who are aware of using it wisely.

Most of the time, people trap themselves in credit card debt without even realizing it. Moreover, when it comes to crawling out of a debt trap, it is not everyone’s cup of tea.

So, let’s have a look at a few things you can try to avoid credit card debt:

1. Build a safety net

Debt on credit card
Source/ Insider

Without access to emergency savings, a credit card might be your sole option to save you from a major car repair, medical bill, travel, or other unexpected expenses that may come your way.

You are starting from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2000, if you continuously save a certain amount of cash each month – you might have something for a rainy day. You can build your emergency fund steadily over time rather than having to rely on debt to rescue you and have a burden yourself.

2. Stick to what you can afford

Source/ Inc

Easy access to credit can be tempting when you spot items you want to purchase instantly, but in all honestly, you can’t afford it. While you might believe that you can quickly pay the credit overtime – the better idea would save up for things you want rather than putting them on credit and only swiping your credit card for purchases you can afford to repay instantly.

3. Avoid carrying multiple credits cards

Source/ Economic Times

It doesn’t matter how fancy credit cards can be, one should use them wisely to be on the safety boat, or you can very easily drown yourself financially with no one to take you out of that situation. When you have more number of credit cards, they can inflate your bill to the maximum extent.

Several credit card companies would tempt you to purchase a credit card on the back of your good credit history, but you can honor their request at your peril. So, you mustn’t fall into the lure of multiple credit cards to avoid the credit card debt trap.

4. Never miss a payment

Source/ Medium

You must stay on track with your credit card payments since it is one of the best ways to avoid credit card debt. Once you skip a payment, your next payment due will be a lot higher since you’ll have to make two payments plus pay the late fee. That can lead up to a difficult situation. It gets tougher to catch up, puts a strain on your budget, and tempts you to use your credit cards to make ends meet.

5. Understand your credit card terms

Source/ Credit.com

Your credit card agreement shows everything you need to learn about using your credit card and how interest will be applied, the fees you’ll be charged, and any other crucial things that may help you comprehend the future expenses that you’ll make from your credit card.

How to manage your credit card payments? Let us know in the comments below.

COVID-19 Pakistan: Plasma Is Being Sold In the Black Market For Millions!

After recovering from an illness caused by an infection or virus, the human body naturally makes antibodies, which are also called plasma.

These antibodies help the body fight the virus that is trying to attack the body. In Pakistan, the government has permitted researchers to conduct passive immunization therapy to help counter the coronavirus pandemic.

Plasma
PC: Red Cross

What is Passive Immunisation Therapy?

Health experts say that this therapy is used to treat the high-risk infection with minimal time for the human body to recover by using its immune response system, or the ability to reduce the symptoms of the ongoing disease.

No vaccine has yet been approved by the authorities and has been recognized as the COVID-19 cure. Several countries are already working towards the treatment with scientists and researchers working around the clock along the medical frontline.

Plasma Being Sold in Black Market

As the cases in Pakistan exceed 189,000 now touching almost 2 lakh, the demand for plasma is also increasing.

However, many are taking advantage of the opportunity to sell the bag of antibodies for as much as Rs. 5 lakh.

This has caused a wave of concern among healthcare officers who require plasma to treat coronavirus patients.

Asides negotiations being done right inside the hospital in front of doctors, many text messages have also been seen floating on social media in which people are trying to make a deal.

One of the doctors from a government hospital in Islamabad quoted:

“The hospitals are not involved, but I have seen deals happen in front of me. Usually, a patient’s attendants or family will approach someone who has recovered, asking them to donate blood.”

“When a certain amount is agreed as payment, usually between 200,000 and 800,000 rupees (£950-£3,800), they go to a private lab and extract the plasma, which is then ‘donated’ to the patients.”

“I know a family of five who became Covid-19 positive and spent 3.5m rupees on blood plasma on the black market. They believe it’s a miracle cure,” he added.

Is Legal Action Being Taken?

According to The Guardian, sources at the federal investigation agency (FIA) have confirmed that they are aware of this trade at the black market.

Medicine Supply in Black Markets

Another concern doctors have is medical supplies and medicines to help in the treatment of Covid-19 patients being sold in the black market after being stolen off the shelves and through other means.

Given that Pakistan is one of the countries where the infection is rapidly increasing, shortage of drugs, as well as plasma, has now become a very concerning issue at hand.

We have yet to see how the authorities and relevant agencies tackle this growing concern.

What do you think is the solution?

5 Mistakes Drivers Should Avoid to Preserve Their Car Warranty

PC: Retirement Living

Many car owners end up making fundamental mistakes, which risks their car warranty. Often, the owners have no idea what can lead to the nulling of the warranty.

Car owners need to understand that every manufacturer has set several rules and conditions that come with the warranty.

Some include complying with prescribed maintenance schedules, while there is a very long list of do’s and don’ts, we have compiled of the top 5 common mistakes drivers should avoid extending their car’s warranty.

5 Common Mistakes Drivers Should Avoid

1. Ignoring Warning Signs

The car dashboard is filled with many symbols. You must have seen it since you were a little child yourself. Each symbol represents an essential part of the car, i.e., the engine.

One widespread mistake owners make is not being able to understand what these symbols mean and why a red light blinks in the dashboard, and some of them light up.

15 Important Symbols on Your Car Dashboard You Must Know About!

The first step is to read the manual and know what each symbol stands for. When the light starts to blink, the car is indicating that something is wrong with that particular part. Once you identify where the problem is, you can try to inspect it yourself or take it to a mechanic or expert.

Often car owners make the mistake of ignoring these lights. Eventually, it leads to a more significant expense as the car part often gets damaged and needs replacements. Some auto manufacturers have conditions in which ignoring red light can lead to the nulling of your warranty.

2. Failing Battery Inspection

If you are an owner of an EV or electric vehicle, then you need to make sure you have marked down a date on your calendar for a yearly batter-inspection. EVs like Nissan Leaf comes with conditions of at least the first six years of battery inspection to keep the warranty valid. Forgetting can lead to a considerable loss; some manufacturers offer the first or first two inspections for free, depending on the car make and model.

ECC Approves EV Policy for 2 & 3-Wheelers, Heavy Commercial Vehicles!

3. Body Inspection

car inspection

Just like how EV manufacturers have policies for battery inspections, some of them have policies for body inspections. Although an annual rust-proofing is not needed if you want that warranty, its the right move; however, some manufacturers do not require a yearly or inspection at all. Instead, they have other policies.

4. Driving on Water

driving on water
PC: The Lighthouse

Water destroys the color of your car, making it exposed to dust, rocks, and other harmful elements that cause rusting, eventually killing a vehicle. Not only does it harm the body, but it also impacts the engine and other essential parts of the car that help it function.

5. Storing EVs Without Any Precautions

ev car
PC: ChargeHub

If you buy an EV but do not use it for an extended period, then this a profoundly impact your car’s battery. You’ll need to make your vehicle move now and then so that the battery doesn’t die.

8 Tips To Give Yourself A Quick Relaxing Manicure At Home

Manicure At Home

The on-going pandemic has restricted people from all across the world to stay in their homes. As of currently, I am going to the salon is undoubtedly not an option for anyone right now due to the lockdown.

Undoubtedly, during these difficult times, people are unable to groom themselves properly, but they must try to look after themselves. This certainly doesn’t mean one has to go out of their way to do it, but whatever one can manage easily.

Personal hygiene should be taken seriously, regardless of gender.

It is a common stereotype that men don’t care much about their hygiene, but some do. Moreover, some men love to take care of themselves and often visit the salons to get pampered with services like facials, manicures, pedicures, etc.

Although it’s not something many are accustomed to seeing, it certainly doesn’t make the man any “less of a man.” If women have the privilege of getting pampered through a manicure, why can’t a man? It’s basic hygiene and personal grooming.

A satisfying manicure at home

Not only is there a real satisfaction of giving yourself a manicure in the comfort of your home, but it is also therapeutic. How? Well, just like you opt for deep-cleansing your face, a manicure is deep-cleansing your hands.

We know that dirty fingernails are not a pretty sight and you don’t need to rush to the salon for that. You can easily give yourself a beautiful, satisfying manicure at home! All it needs is a little practice, and you’re good to go.

Here is the easiest way you can give yourself a manicure at home

1. Gather all the tools

You need some essentials to provide yourself with a manicure at home.

1. Cotton balls or cotton pads
2. Nail filer
3. Nail polish remover
4. Cuticle clippers and cuticle remover (essential)
5. Basecoat
6. Nail polish (optional)
7. Manicure sticks
8. Clear topcoat
9. Quick-dry drops

2. Use a nail polish remover to clean any leftover nail polish

Before you begin, make sure your nails are free of any leftover residue. You need to have unpolished nails to start with your manicure.

3. Time to file your nails

Uneven nails are possibly the first thing people might notice if they gave a glimpse of your hands. So, don’t skip this step. Trim and file them accordingly.

4. Buff your nails

This has to be the best. Buffing your nails makes your nail so much smoother. However, some people skip this step as it strips off the top layer and removes natural oils from the nails.

5. Apply cuticle remover on the edges of your nail

Applying a cuticle remover will gently soften and exfoliate the dry/dead skin around the cuticle, making it easier to push back.

6. Push your cuticles back using a manicure stick

Using a manicure stick, gently push back your cuticles. Avoid cutting your cuticles because they act as a seal between the nail bed and your body. It also prevents infections.

However, you may cut/trim any excess skin that you may see hanging but avoid your cuticles.

7. Apply a thin layer of base coat

Once you’re done pushing back your cuticles, apply a thin layer of base coat. It works as a barrier between your nail and nail polish. You may skip this step if you don’t want to apply nail color.

8. Apply your nail paint

Last but not least, apply your favorite nail color and flaunt your pretty hands and, of course, your self-manicure!

Wasn’t this easy? So, what are you waiting for?

COVID-19: Schools in Pakistan To Have Regular Classes Soon

sindh schools to reopen
Credits: Dawn

[Update]: The minister of education, Shafqat Mehmood has taken to his Twitter account announcing the date for the re-opening of schools in Pakistan. Well, some of the schools were already open but they were not open all week.  But now, the minister has said that the schools will be open all 5 days of the week so all those schools that were conducting staggard classes need to go back to the regular system. This will be the case from March 1st.

[June 24, 2020]: Pakistan is considering reopening all schools following strict COVID-19 SOPs.

The Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood shared that proposals have been shared from private institutions and madrassas from all across the country.

Moreover, in a press conference held in Islamabad, the minister shared that 70% of parents want to send their children back to school.

He also highlighted that the government has taken into consideration many suggestions as to how the SOPs can be implemented in institutes across all provinces.

A meeting has been scheduled with the Ministry of Health in regards to this as well. Mahmood also said that the decision would be made final only after examining relevant data provided by the National Command and Operation Center.

On occasion, the minister shared that they are working closely with UNICEF to consult with other countries that have reopened schools under strict SOPs.

“Consultations with UNICEF are also currently underway on the government’s existing policy,” he said.

“We want to end the uncertainty on a basic, important issue like education,” he added.

Pakistan had shut down all educational institutes in March after the first couple Coronavirus cases had surfaced. Despite the country’s lockdown being lifted, schools remain close.

We have yet to see whether or not the government will open schools and if parents will send their children.

June 4, 2020:

As total coronavirus cases cross 85,000 in Pakistan, the government is still keen on keeping schools closed.

However, Private Schools Action Committee head Pervez Haroon announced on Wednesday the reopening of all private educational institutes from June 15.

“We plan to open schools in three phases from June 15,” he said while addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club. He added that all SOPs would be observed throughout all institutions.

According to Haroon, classes for the students from grades 6 to 10 will resume in the first phase, starting from June 15.

sindh schools

“Classes for the students of grades three to five will then be resumed from July 1 in the second phase, and for the remaining students from July 10 in the third phase,” he elaborated.

“As many as 25 million children are already out of school in the country, and the decision to extend the closure of schools will double the number to 50 million,” he warned.

“The ordinance can be challenged in court,” he remarked. “The government has stressed the initiation of online classes, but it is near impossible to teach primary school students remotely,” he said.

Sindh Schools Can’t Expel Children if Fees Are Not Paid.

On the other hand, according to an order issued by Sindh High Court, private schools are not allowed to expel children if their parents are unable to pay their tuition fees.

The order was passed at the last hearing, and parents were also given a 20% concession in the fees for April and May 2020.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Justice Omar Sial remarked that the court’s verdict would stay.

“Full salaries should be paid to the teaching and non-teaching staff of the private education institutes according to Rules. No staff would be laid off during COVID-19 pandemic,” said the particular order, adding that “it is mandatory for every school to grant 20% concession in the tuition fee of students for the months of April and May 2020.”

May 15, 2020:

Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani have officially announced that all students from grade 9 to 12 will be promoted the same as grade 1 to 8.

While speaking at a press conference, he said that the students of classes 9 to 12 would also be promoted without having to give examinations to the next level.

Moreover, the minister added that there would be a 3% increase in their marks as well using a formula system.

Its been agreed in the national curriculum council meeting of the federal minister of education shafqat mahmood and the ministers of education of other provinces  that in the present circumstances, it is not possible to conduct examinations. however, to improve the position of the students and if they are willing, exams can also be taken.

The students will be promoted to the next classes without examinations and will be give  3% extra mArks. if one’s marks in the 9th class is 60%, then HE or she will now be counted 63% in the matriculation result making them able to get admission in the 11th in the same proportion. similarly, one’s success rate in the 11th will be calculated by adding 3%.

The federal and provincial education ministries have proposed an average marking system to be put in place for secondary school certificate (SSC) and higher secondary school certificate (HSSC) students this year.

The proposal was made to keep the current situation of the growing COVID-19 concern in Mind. It was presented during a meeting between education ministries, board secretaries, and was headed by the federal minister, Shafqat Mehmood.

Soon after the meeting, the minister stated that all board examinations were canceled; however, some of the remaining issues will be addressed by Friday.

The minister took to Twitter on Monday and stated that the Ministry of Education has been in consultation with 29 boards across the country regarding issues of some students arising out of promotion policy.

According to the proposed formula, the promotion criteria for students will be based upon their past performance and marks. This is still under consideration and is likely to be officially announced in the upcoming week.

Here’s a complete breakdown of the proposed formula:

SSC-I (9th Class)

The proposal suggests to skip the 9th class this year and conduct 10th class exams in 2021. Moreover, average marks for SSC-I be calculated using the new formula:

Marks obtained in Matric + marks obtained in 10th ÷ total marks X 10.

SSC-II (10th class)

Average marks for the 10th class will be calculated by adding marks obtained in the 9th class to marks in 9th ÷ total marks X 10.

HSSC-I (First Year)

HSSC Exams
credits: urdupoint

The proposal suggests to skip 11th class exams this year and have the students take the exams for second-year the next year.

To calculate marks for the 11th, obtained scores for 11th be added to (marks obtained in 11th ÷ total marks X 10).

HSSC-II (Second Year)

To calculate average marks for 12th class, marks scored in the 11th class will be added to (marks obtained in 11th ÷ total marks X 10).

Improvement Cases

Improvement students will receive a slight benefit when it comes to marking. This formula would calculate Their average marks:

Marks obtained to be added to (marks obtained in 9th or 11th ÷ total marks X 20).

Failed Papers

Average marks for each subject paper to be obtained by (marks obtained in 9th or 11th ÷ total marks X 15).

On the other hand, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) is considering reopen universities for examinations despite the pandemic, HEC Chairman, Dr. Tariq Banuri, has confirmed.

While speaking to a news channel, Dr. Banuri said that HEC could approach the government to implement the decision if the Coronavirus situation in Pakistan improves towards the end of May.

We have now yet to see what decision is taken regarding this newly proposed system as well as HEC examinations.

Until then, stay safe and stay tuned to Brandsynario.

Twitter lauded Farwa’s accomplishments once the result was out. Farwa belongs to the Hazara community and struggled throughout her life to achieve something of value for herself.

Her success has been termed as significant “success of women” in our society.

Many people have lost their lives from the Hazara community in Quetta due to sectarian terrorism. Regardless of all the odds, Farwa managed to continue her education with full determination.

May 14, 2019:

Earlier this week, the Senate had passed a resolution to allow Central Superior Services (CSS) candidates to take their exams in our national language, Urdu.

According to Urdupoint, Senator Sirajul Haq was the one who presented the resolution in the upper house.

Giving examples of countries like China and Japan, Amir Sirajul Haq demanded that applicants should be given the option to take CSS exams in Urdu as well.

“We can also progress by holding the CSS exams in Urdu. Urdu language is recognition of Pakistan nation and its culture, therefore it is inevitable the language should be given constitutional status”

India Copies Pakistan’s CSS Exams

State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Khan, said that there are six compulsory and 45 optional subjects in the CSS exam. Moreover, he mentioned that all compulsory subjects were taught at universities in English.

Using that argument, he supported his stance that CSS candidates should be allowed to take the CSS exams in their choice of language.

The debate concluded with the Senate’s verdict that Urdu be added as an optional language in the exams along with English.

CSS Examination Policy Revised

Some think it will make no significant difference.

While others are sharing the news on social media as “good news,” as it will help promote our national language.

What do you think? Will it prove to be a good idea?

4 Ways Pakistan’s Tourism Has Been Affected By COVID-19

Source: Culture Trip

The ongoing pandemic has caused economic crises across the world. The tourism industry has come to a complete standstill as intercity, and international travel is both halted. It is rumored that the pandemic will have a long-lasting effect on tourism than it will on other industries.

Like many others in the tourism economy, Pakistan had hopes pinned on the fact that Pakistan topped the Conde Nast Traveler’s list of the best holiday destinations for 2020. However, due to the pandemic, all of it came to a standstill. Pakistan was hyped up as a travel destination not just for locals but also for international tourists.

The royal couple and the maiden visit of the Buddhist Monk to Pakistan in 2019 received massive coverage globally.

Every year flocks of local tourists head on over to the beautiful valleys in Pakistan’s northern areas such as SWAT, Nathiagali, and Murree to spend Eid holidays and summer vacations with their families. This year, however, we are all stuck indoors to curb the spread of the virus; leisure travel seems to be the last thing people would be willing to go for at this crucial time.

Here’s how Pakistan’s tourism has been affected due to Covid-19:

  1. Massive Economic Loss

A report by the Economic Revitalization of the KP Province conducted a tourism sector analysis which showed that 2 million tourists visited four destinations in the province last year during Eid holidays. These contributed a whopping $5 million to the local economy through tourism. The initial assessment fears that KP’s tourism sector alone will face a loss of $20 million this year.

2. Loss of Employment

Due to the closure of transport, tourist areas are closed down. KP province alone reports a slash of 260,000 jobs.

3. Tour Operators and Hotels Report Cancellations

As days pass by in lockdown, people who had Eid holidays planned to the northern areas have had to cancel. The hotels and tour operators have reimbursed the amounts, but they would be incurring heavy losses, which include electricity, rents, and employee salaries.

4. Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Reports Losses

Pakistan’s CAA has reported losses of around $18 million in March 2020, and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will be sending its workforce on paid leaves.

HEC Proposes Solution for Internet Access for Students from Remote Areas

Students

22nd June 2020: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has been planning to help students in remote areas have access to the internet.

Chairman HEC, Tariq Banuri, said that HEC is seeking special permission from the federal government. If they are granted permission, the decision will help students return to their hostels under strict SOPs so that they can rejoin online classes.

The Chairman also highlighted that the commission is currently in talks with telecommunication companies as well to offer data bundles to students at cheaper rates. He added that his collaboration will prove to be beneficial and will help students have easier access to educational resources.

Last but not least, Banuri shared that the growing demand to waiver fees entirely is not legit; several institutions are already offering cuts in light of the current pandemic. He said that cuts could be considered, but a complete waiver of fees can’t be acceptable.

For fees to be waived-off ultimately, the federal government will have to increase HEC’s annual budget according to the Chairman.

9th June 2020: Pakistani students want the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to suspend online exams and pass students this year without any formal examination.

As the coronavirus pandemic elongates its period, education systems across the world have brought significant changes in their layouts for next semester. The changes mainly include the fee structure and conducting formal exams online at the end of the term.

#SuspendOnlineExams has been trending on twitter as students pour in their concerns

HEC, however, has rejected suspension of exams according to a leading news website.

HEC tweeted, “HEC is addressing students” concerns regarding online classes & exams, BUT promoting students without examination is out of the question.”

It is challenging to get the hang of studying online and also giving exams. In case, if students have been facing challenges, HEC has been actively trying to solve them.

A discussion has taken place with the students to try to solve issues at hand.

4th June 2020: Pakistani students protest over universities charging a hefty fee for online classes. Many universities across the country are conducting classes online for the next semester as the situation is still unstable.

With a lack of means to pay the hefty fee due to the lockdown, students urge other students to protest against universities as the layout for the summer semester comes out. Hashtag #SayNoToUniversitiesFees has been trending on twitter since then.

A PAF-KIET student says:

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my university, which is asking to pay 50k for the summer semester with only two courses, and of course, classes will be online without any concession since they are saving millions through online courses!!

“Education is not business,” says another user.

With no utility charges, security expenses, examination expenses, other expenses, universities are still increasing the fee or charging the same amount.

After cutting all these expenses, still slowly charging students seems unfair.

A twitter user says, “We have taken online classes for almost two months, we’ve had the worst learning experience ever. They are just trying to complete ‘Credit Hours’; hence fees will be collected. Please stop this system where the faculty doesn’t have any online teaching experience.”

Previously, LUMS, a university in the provincial capital, was heavily criticized on Twitter after massively increasing the fee. Students boycotted the university’s decision to move forward with the increase during a pandemic.

7 Surprising Money-Saving Tips For All You Students Out There

However, the university clarified later that the increase in fee was supposed to take place even though we are going through a deadly pandemic.

Universities across the world have been giving students discounts as classes continue to be conducted online for the rest of the year.

Saudi Arabia has announced that it is banning international pilgrims from Hajj this year in an attempt to control the coronavirus. Muslims all over the world feared that Hajj might be canceled.

Every summer, approximately two million people visit Mecca and Madina for the annual Islamic pilgrimage. This year, however, things will be slightly different. BBC reported that a limited number of people who are currently in the country might already take part in the practice.

Hajj is one of the most significant dates in the Islamic calendar for Muslims. In a statement, authorities have said, this is the only way to move forward with a substantial amount of people losing their lives every day; the kingdom can’t risk people entering the country from all over the world.

By letting limited people practice Hajj, the authorities will be able to follow mandatory precautionary measures and hopefully curb the virus in the region.
