5 Money Hacks That Will Make You Rich!

5 Money Hacks That Will Make You Rich!

Inflation, limited job opportunities, and risks have all contributed to making it extremely hard to save money.

Some people feel that managing finances is a difficult task. However, with a little guidance, there are many ways in which individuals can make money and grow it if they know how to invest their money in the right direction.

If you are looking for the fast-track to becoming rich, we can help with some useful tips.

Here are five money hacks that will make you productive!

1. Make a Pocket-Friendly Budget Planner

Firstly, cross out all the extra expenses from your life. We often tell ourselves we don’t spend on anything extra, but that’s not true.

There are mainly two types of expenses we have, fixed and variable. Fixed costs are considered in the form of bills and rent and transport, whereas variable includes tours, travel, entertainment, luxury, etc.

Why spend Rs.300 or more on outdoor coffee every day when you can buy a packet worth Rs.50 (or less)? Similarly, cutting back on such small things will help you save a lot of money each month, which will multiply over the years.

2. Invest in Mutual Funds

Money does not grow in value if you throw it inside a bank vault. If the currency depreciates or if there is a high inflation rate, then cash loses its value.

If you want your earnings to grow, the best way to ensure this is by investing in mutual funds.

A mutual fund is a company that pools money from many investors and invests the money in securities such as stocks, bonds, and short-term debt. Investors buy shares in mutual funds. Each share represents an investor’s part ownership in the fund and the income it generates.

One of the best and most experienced Asset Management Company in Pakistan is offering a comprehensive range of Investment Solutions that have been specially designed to help you achieve your financial goals!

MCB-Arif Habib’s iSave is a digital savings solution through which you can create your mutual funds account online, and invest to earn a profit.

With a service like iSave, you no longer need to worry about paper hassles, no painful registration process, no hidden fees, or charges; you get Shariah-compliant returns and an iSave debit card for easy withdrawals.

The best part is that MCB-Arif Habib’s iSave is also an application, which means you can keep a close track of your investment anytime, anywhere.

It typically works like a regular bank account, where you can deposit and withdraw money via ATM, online, or cheque anytime and also earn a daily profit.

3. Generate Multiple Income Streams

Instead of sticking to one means of income, it is always a great idea to create multiple avenues. How you use your 24 hours is very important. No one is asking you to work 24/7, but to develop more methods of income will surely increase your revenue, making you a lot of good money. You can start a small business from home, work a part-time job, do freelancing projects, and much more.

4. Follow the Self-Pay Ideology

It’s always good to pay yourself. First, this does not mean you have to pay yourself with money or buy material goods to make you feel happy. It means to save an amount each week or month. This could be Rs. 3,000 for some or less or more depending on your earnings. That money will come in handy when you are financially constrained, and if you are worried you will spend the money, opt for a non-accessible account like a long term savings account.

5. Bid Farewell to Easy-Paying Credit Cards

Credit Cards are very tricky. You are easily tempted to purchase everything with it, including a pack of gum. Purchasing unnecessary stuff ends up landing you in debt, which has to be paid. Try to minimize or regulate your use of the cards, and you’ll be able to save yourself from high-interest and debt altogether.

5 Automotive Trends That Have Changed Auto Industry Forever!

Automotive Trends

Trends are unpredictable. They come, they go, but some trends pave the way for a whole new direction.

Similarly, there have been trends in the automotive industry that have changed the sector forever. Some patterns have left positive influences, whereas some have left negative footprints.

5 Trends That Made HUGE Impacts in the Automotive Industry

We have compiled a list of 5 trends in the automotive industry, which have greatly-influenced the sector!

1. Electric Charging

The production of EVs or Electric Vehicles changed the automotive industry from its roots. Because of fossil fuel being a scarce resource, it was getting very hard to find a replacement not to forget the prices were soaring sky-high.

With the coming of EVs, cars became more affordable and eco-friendly! Countries soon started to adapt to the EV policies, ensuring that they will slowly bring the use of diesel and petrol-based vehicles to an end in response to climate change.

China’s industry has also been focused on manufacturing affordable EVs with basic features, including air conditioning. Some of the vehicles from top producers offer up to 300 kilometers per charge!

2. Infotainment Systems

Having a family means making sure they aren’t bored during long travels, especially the kids! Thank God for infotainment systems! These interactive systems have been equipped with the latest technology from Apple Play for iOS users to Bluetooth mode, USB ports, large screens for visuals, and much more.

Nowadays, every customer wishes to win a car with an infotainment system, and even the most-affordable mid-range vehicles come equipped with these systems as automotive manufacturers want to fulfill their customer’s demands.

3. Turbo Charged Engines

PC: Car from Japan

Turbo-charged engines first made their way back in the 60s. These engines help obtain higher power or torque output for a given engine displacement by increasing the internal combustion engine’s efficiency and power output by forcing extra compressed air into the combustion chamber.

However, these engines automakers some trouble because they are more expensive to build and suffer from lag. Since then, these engines have come a long way, reducing the amount of lag face by the driver. Manufacturers have reserved this technology for high-end and premium cars due to the cost.

4. Headlamps

LED Headlamps

A customer knows which car they want to buy because for their gut. This is why making a dynamic first-impression is essential. A customer should fall head-over-heels in love with a vehicle, because of its beauty before its specs. And just like how our eyes attract the opposite gender, headlamps attract car-owners!

Not do they add to a vehicle’s beauty, but an essential part of driving as well for proper visibility, especially at night-time. LED headlamps paved their way into the industry in the early 2000s and proved to be robust and more efficient compared to their predecessors.

Manufacturers have started to use adaptive headlamps that turn-off automatically to avoid blinding another human being in an oncoming car.

5. Airbags

When we say the words “car safety,” the first word that pops in our brains is “airbag.” Airbags have now become a must and are a crucial part of ensuring a person is safe. This is not restricted to the driver only; cars now come with 6-8 airbags for passenger safety as well.

Which other trends do you think have profoundly influenced the automotive industry?

The Ultimate Guide To Facial Hair Removal For All The Women Out There

Source/ Vogue

It’s a universal truth that all women try their best to look like a diva who stepped out of a ramp. From manicures to pedicures, women care a lot about maintaining themselves correctly.

However, there’s no surprise that facial hair can sometimes alienate you from looking your best. Fact check: all women have fine, thin hair covering their faces and necks – and it’s completely normal, so there’s no need to worry about it.

Removing hair is most painful, and there’s no other way around it. Let’s take a look at what possible things women can opt to reduce facial hair:

1. Shaving

Source/ tenor

Shaving is one of the quickest and easiest ways to eliminate hair and proceed with your day. Whether you’re using a disposable shaver or an electric shaver, both have a built-in blade that lifts and cuts hair at the skin’s surface.

2. Tweezing

Source/ Giphy

Tweezing is another beneficial and economical way to remove facial hair. This technique works slightly differently than shaving. Instead then removing hair with a razor blade, tweezers are designed to pluck or pull hair from the roots.

3. Waxing

Source/ Giphy

Waxing is a useful way to reduce all the hair in an area. Two different types of waxing kits are available in the market:

  • wax strips that you warm between your hands before applying
  • the wax that’s melted in a warmer and then applied to the area with a stick.

4. At-home laser hair removal

Source/ Tenor

The primary issue with many at-home hair removal methods is that results are temporary or only last a few weeks. For longer results, consider laser hair removal from a professional.

This technique uses a laser and pulsating beams to damage hair follicles, resulting in the loss of hair. It’s a semipermanent solution – hair grows back after about six months. Sometimes, hair may never grow back. If hair returns, it may be finer and unnoticeable.

5. Threading

Source/ Tumblr

Threading is another alternative for shaping eyebrows and removing unwanted facial hair on the upper lip, side of the face, and chin. This technique uses a thread, which pulls and twists undesired hair until it lifts from the hair follicle.

The outcomes can last longer than shaving or tweeze, plus this method doesn’t cause ingrown hairs.

The killing sparked an international conversation that led to the movement “Black Lives Matter.” Brands around the world are discontinued products that dictated the same narrative. They were heavily criticized for expressing solidarity with the BLM movement while also selling products that advertise skin-lightening effects and racism.

J&J’s official website is currently being updated. The links of skin-lightening products will be removed. However, the products may appear on shelves “for a short while.”

Previously, Johnsons & Johnsons have faced several lawsuits since 2014, which accused the company of hiding the cancer risks associated with its talc-based baby powder. Under pressure, the health care company had discontinued its world-famous talc-based baby powder products in the United States and Canada. Read the full story here:

The Evolution of PlayStation Consoles Throughout the Years!

Childhood memories are a delightful recollection for many of us, but as far as I can remember, my childhood was all about gaming!

That’s what happens when you are the only girl in the household, and you grow up between a brother and male cousins!

As a kid, I had fallen head-over-heels in love with video games while watching them play. One of the most iconic consoles in our households was the evergreen PS (PlayStation).

From there, the console has come a very long way! From just PS to now what is called the PS5, here’s how Sony created and evolution one of the most successful console lines ever!

PlayStation – 1994

PlayStation One
Credits: Sony

The PlayStation will always remain a part of me as it played a vital role in my childhood. I can still recall the system being bulky; the games came in the form of sleek CDs.

Thes system was officially launched in Japan in 1994 and the US/Europe in 1995. It had just three buttons on top and space CD inserting. PS – it was the first console in the history of gaming to sell more than 100 million units worldwide!

Some of the best titles made for the console include Crash Bandicoot (1996), Ridge Racer (1994), Tomb Raider (1996), and plenty more. One of the most attractive features of the PlayStation was the Link Cable.

PlayStation Link Cable
PC: Sony

The PlayStation Link Cable allowed two players to plug into two systems via 2 TVs for multiplayer titles before the internet became mainstream.

PlayStation 2 – 2000

PS 2
PC: Sony

The second generation of the PlayStation came out in 2000, and just like its predecessor, it set a new standard in video gaming.

Although the PS2 was even bulkier, it was a beaut! High Definition 3D visuals, online play, and an integrated DVD player meant movies were just a button press away, without the need for expensive add-ons, definitely value for money written all over it.

The console also had some of the best titles, including Grand Theft Auto III (2001),  Ratchet & Clank (2002), Jak & Daxter (2001), and others. One of the most attractive features of the PS2 was its accessories. Gamers had the option of buying SingStar mics and EyeToy camera for gameplay.

PlayStation Portable (PSP) – 2004

Psp
PC: Sony

Launched in Japan in 2004 and the US and Europe in 2005, Sony had once again set a new standard in the industry.

To be honest, the PSP is one of my favorite classic consoles of all time. Not only can you play your favorite titles, but you don’t have to be glued to a TV screen stuck in one place for hours! You could carry the console on hand with you anywhere and everywhere!

PlayStation 3 – 2006

PS3
PC: Sony

PlayStation 3 indeed was a sight to see when it was launched in Japan in 2006. It had the mighty power of the PS2 and a lot more.

With this one, High Definition (HD) became standard with an integrated Blu-ray Disc player. Just like with the PSP, players could do a lot more than just game; this includes watching 3D movies.

PlayStation 4 – 2013

PS4
PC: Sony

Sony PlayStation housed the 8th generation of video games that came in high dynamic range that was integrated for streaming and social media.

In 2016, Sony rolled out the PlayStation4 Pro, which brought the visual fidelity of 4K and High Dynamic Range.

PlayStation 5 – 2020

PS5
PC: Sony

The PlayStation 5, like me, is a sight for sore eyes! The console immediately received immense love as soon as Sony launched it.

Although the PS5 is new, and is packed with even more features and is AWESOME, the classic consoles will also have an extraordinary place in our hearts as well.

Which console rules your heart?

The Gulf Arab state halted all passenger flights at the beginning of March to curb the spread of the virus. Foreign citizens were banned from returning to the country. Some residence were allowed entry after the UAE government approved.

A strict lockdown was imposed earlier in the country, which is now being outlawed. However, restrictions on movement persist. Reportedly, shopping malls have started opening routinely, and private businesses have opened, and people are back to work.

Dubai’s Emirates has begun operations at the beginning of June. Gradually, the airline is planning to return to normal in full swing for summers with new sets of mandatory precautionary measures.

3 Alternatives to Try when Truecaller isn’t Working in Pakistan

truecaller alternatives

Earlier this week, social media went into panic mode due to Truecaller being blocked for seemingly unknown reasons.

Truecaller is an integrated caller ID service mobile app developed to find mobile number details with just a telephone number. The app also has a feature that lets users block annoying spam and unknown calls to put an end to mobile spam-like Telemarketing and blank calls.

Social Media Panics as Truecaller Blocked in Pakistan for ‘Unknown Reasons’!

Over 250 million people are using Truecaller, and the app blocks over 3 million spam calls in Pakistan every month.

5 Reasons Women SHOULDN’T Shouldn’t Get Married – According to Rishta Aunty

However, Pakistanis are currently unable to access the app or the website, so here is are three alternatives that you can use instead:

1. Whoscall

Available on both Android and iOS, Whoscall has a repository of over a billion numbers.

Its offline database allows you to identify calls even when your phone isn’t connected to the internet, a function that Truecaller did not have.

The app also lets you block spam calls, specific numbers, unknown numbers, and more.

2. Showcaller

Showcaller is easy to set up, user-friendly, and small-sized (>4MB).

It doesn’t use up too much of your phone’s resources and is considerably less battery-draining as compared to Truecaller.

The app shows detailed caller ID info on incoming calls, including the names and photos of callers.

Other features of the app include an unknown number search, offline database, built-in call recorder, and more.

3. Hiya

Earlier known as Whitepages Caller ID, Hiya is a free caller ID app that identifies the calls you want to take and blocks the numbers and texts you think are spam or wish for whatever reason to avoid.

Similar to Truecaller, Hiya identifies unknown numbers, lets you search for unknown numbers, and automatically blocks spam calls. Moreover, it does not show any ads.

Which one of these alternatives to Truecaller do you plan to download?

Longer Food-Preservation Necessary for Better Nutrition & Safety

The quality of nutritional intake is critical for healthy growth and vitality of every human. As the debate on the need for a stronger immune system gains importance, experts stress more on the benefits of fresh-food enriched with vitamins and minerals. However, due to a long supply-chain of foods, from farm to market, special measures must be taken during food-processing, storage and transportation, to prevent wastage, nutritional-loss, bacteria-growth and pollution.

Once it reaches the consumers’ household, food is kept in conventional refrigerators, due to busy lifestyles of the families. So, the vegetables, meat, dairy, fruits and other edibles that we eat have often lost its nourishment value. Hence, additional costs are incurred due to wastage of food, which is produced after long efforts by the farmers and the food-industry.

Pakistan plays an important role in enabling food-security, internationally – so the nation must strive more for Food-Preservation, because if the current practices and scale of wastage prevails, it may increase the possibility of major food-shortages. Thus, more awareness about ‘Food-Preservation Technology’ is needed among the masses.

Technological evolution is enabling new ways of Food-Preservation that are more effective and safer than the older methods like; chemical preservatives and additives, to extend the shelf-life of food. Therefore, Dawlance – the leading enterprise in home-appliances, is now innovating refrigerators, that keep the food healthy and safe for longer without reducing and effecting essential Vitamins and original flavors of the food.

These revolutionary refrigerators fulfill the evolving needs of the society, while featuring new technologies improve the food preservation, preserve vitamins of food and increase cooling retention of appliances. Companies in Pakistan should focus on food preservation and food nutrition as food wastage is a growing concern in Pakistan and across the globe. Furthermore, Pakistan having majority youth population should have healthy vitamins for future generations to grow and prosper.

Cairo Building Hosts Virtual concerts And Qur’anic Recitations

Source/ Arab News

Today while all of us are home-bound and are struggling to keep one another entertained, an Egyptian artist is using the back wall of a building in central Cairo to exhibit virtual concerts and recitations of the Qur’an to break the monotony of the curfew imposed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

How will this work?

The virtual concerts will include a projector and will begin at 8 p.m. every night in the El-Mounira area as the streets while the entire city goes into lockdown.

The curfew, which began in mid-March, triggered the idea of the virtual concerts to experimental filmmaker and artist Mohamed Allam. The plan did, however, didn’t come into action until mid-June.

Filmmaker and Artist Mohammad Allam

Allam, who’s been residing in downtown Cairo for 11 years and has become familiar with the district stated. “I have tools, like the projector, and I know how to use them,” Allam said. “So I thought, why not take the projector to the street instead of keeping it within the walls of my home. I thought, why not share this experience with the citizens of Egypt.”

He continued, “most of those who live in the area are elderly people, and since the spread of the coronavirus, they have not left their homes. As the sun sets, they usually go out to their balconies, and so I decided to offer them Umm Kulthum concerts.”

The residents of Cairo

The building opposite Allam’s house is free of residents, making it an ideal location for his projector because it does not disturb anyone.

The artist’s work was encouraged by the residents, and he mentioned how he felt he was over the moon when people would go up to their balconies for the virtual concert.

“Several of my neighbors go to their balconies with the start of the virtual concert. I also started live-streaming the shows on my Facebook page,” mentioned Allam. His peers shared videos of his innovation gained immense popularity.

The legal ramifications of the idea

The artist is worried about the legal ramifications of his idea since projecting the images can result in inconvenience for residents living in the neighborhood.

At the same time, he is constructing ways to advance the project. The Cairo based artist is searching for friends who live in nearby buildings to test the idea and see how people of different backgrounds will react to it.

This is an excellent initiative for people who are exhausted from the monotonous routine and are bound in four walls of their home – thanks to the pandemic.

Always Arabia’s Latest Commercial Exhibits A Brave New World

Source/ Arab News

Women’s empowerment and gender equality is crucial for our society to assure the sustainable growth of the nation. Several world governors have argued that sustainable advancement is unthinkable without gender equality and women’s empowerment.

US multinational Procter and Gamble’s (P&G) feminine hygiene brand Always has released a new online advert, titled “The New Brave,” describing it as “a movement that celebrates the strength of all women during these challenging times.”

It highlights the strength and self-empowerment of women during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and it’s accompanying lockdowns, encompassing those combatting isolation at home, not seeing family for lengthy periods, managing remote work and school, teaching and learning with children, and adapting to a new meaning of courage.

This is not the first time P&G has strived to rein female empowerment, tying in with its ideologylosophy, which is to be a “force for good.”

Always’ prior campaigns such as “Like a Girl” garnered global honor, and closer to home, its “Generation of Firsts” campaign marked a significant juncture for Saudi women.

In addition to the “The New Brave” advert, and as part of its COVID-19 relief mission, P&G has been laboring with several charities and governments to contribute to those in need, particularly keeping in mind that 70 percent of frontline workers are females.

As the recent advert states: “The recognition and festivity of  this courage are why we will come out of this challenging period stronger, braver, and changed with the realization of our potential, there has never been a better time to claim #TheNewBrave.”

The marketing and advertising enterprises have historically been more about tale than reality, and female idealization rather than empowerment.

Today, however, we’re discovering a sea-change in the way brands represent and market to women, fuelled by social and political movements.

10 Things You Need to Know About the DC Inverter AC

The ongoing summer season is probably the hottest in Pakistan. To beat this heat, the best solution is to install an AC at your home. However, the prohibitive cost of electricity makes people think twice about buying one. The modern day innovation of the DC Inverter AC cuts down the electricity cost further when compared with a standard split AC making it a better choice as well as a wiser investment decision.

Not sure what a DC Inverter AC is? Here are the 10 things about the DC Inverter AC you must know.

1)  It saves 60% Power

When it comes to power consumption normal AC consumes more electricity, but ORIENT DC Inverter AC because of  its advanced technology saves 60% power, lowering the electricity bill. We all know that compressors in standard split AC keep switching On/Off several times and the startup of any motor consumes a lot of power. But in DC Inverter AC, the compressor starts for once when switched ‘On’ and maintains its motor speed according to the requirement of room temperature. It continues to run very slowly and thus, results in lesser power consumption.

2) Low Voltage Operation (No Need for a Stabilizer)

The DC Inverter ACs have the tendency to operate in voltage as low as 140v. They keep running uninterruptedly in low voltage because the 3) power supply converts into a Direct Current (DC) first and then it reconverts into an alternating current (AC) to the primary compressor motor which runs on different speeds.

3) Working on UPS / Generator/ Solar Panel

As the DC Inverter ACs can operate even with low voltage, they can also work on the UPS / Generator / Solar Panel of the required (appropriate) capacity. In Pakistan, where we have to face hours of load shedding daily, this feature is an added advantage. The ORIENT DC Inverter AC is the prime example in this case as it can run on UPS / Generator / Solar Panel of specified capacity.

FB-kuch-bara-soch-Ultron

4) Reaches the Set point of Temperature Faster (High Speed Cooling)

The DC Inverter AC reaches the set point of the thermostat (proposed temperature of the room) faster. Its compressor works at a high speed right from the start and chills the room in no time.

5) No Irregular Fluctuation in Temperature

The DC Inverter AC does not exhibit irregular fluctuations in the room temperature; neither does the room turn warmer, nor does it over cool and leave  you  shivering. The compressor in the AC continuously prevents over cooling or over heating in temperature.

In the standard AC for e.g , if you have set the temperature to 20 degrees Centigrade , once it reaches this temperature, the compressor turns off and temperature starts rising. At 22, it turns on again and then chills the room at 18 and you will start feeling too cold. Thus, it also exerts more pressure on the compressor.

6) Efficient Temperature Control Ability (Use of Energy)

As the compressor keeps running in the DC Inverter on variable speed, it maintains the temperature efficiently and avoids over cooling and temperature rise. The ORIENT DC Inverter AC can sense the minimal fluctuation in temperature too for example if someone opens the door or window, the compressor will work on variable speed accordingly to maintain the temperature and it is also effective in terms of use of energy.

7) Longer Life of Compressor

The core component of an AC is its compressor, and with the DC Inverter AC,  it keeps working continuously at varied speed. The non-stop working does not affect the life of the compressor – in fact it gives it a longer life.

8) Produces Less Noise than the Standard AC

Another plus point to the DC Inverter AC is that it is quieter than the standard AC. Although the compressor motor works continuously, its latest technology controls the noise it produces.

9) Double Utility (Heating and Cooling)

The summer season becomes unbearable in Pakistan and winters just as cold. The DC Inverter AC offers you double utility as it keeps you chilled in the summers and can warm up your rooms in winter functioning as a heater.

room with ac

10) Budget Friendly for Purchase

Even though ORIENT DC Inverter ACs make use of the latest technology compressors and save energy, they are still affordable. ORIENT DC Inverters are priced well within the range of a standard high quality split AC , starting from Rs. 59,000/-

The Hair & Beauty Industry Calls for Attention to the Government to Re-Open the Industry

In light of the outbreak of COVID-19, perhaps the most badly affected businesses have been those that are service-based.

Though axknowledging that the hairdressing industry is a high-risk business in light of the novel coronavirus outbreak, the government cannot turn a blind eye to the industry.

The hair and beauty industry generates a large amount of revenue for the nation and the lack of government support will mean that businesses can only survive on savings, and personal investments of entrepreneurs, for so long.

We Have been closed from the 19th of march till today. It has now been four months since the closure of business for our industry.

We would like an open dialogue to exist between the government, with a timeline as to when we will be allowed to open; failing which we will have no choice but to open salons, the only other option being closure of hundreds of salons.

Another concern regarding this is that many women from low-income families, have used this skill to be able to become breadwinners of their families.

The prolonged closure of salons & spas around the country will result not only in a massive unemployment spike, and will therefore increase the economic burden already felt by many households.

More attention must be given to this industry, also due to the fact that the taxation paid by such businesses adds up to a large amount, taking into account those collected by the Sindh Revenue Board and the Federal Revenue Board.

Many of such businesses have already formulated stricter SOPs than the sectors that are allowed to be operational at the moment.  We have the onus of adhering to both international as well as national regulations.

With all these factors putting more pressure on the hair & beauty industry with each passing day, the government needs to give more attention to the industry and offer relief so that businesses may cope, and will not have to resort to closure of businesses and the laying off of staff.

Nabila, President of PHABA says:

Our salons have been shut for over 3 months. We have had to pay staff salaries, utilities and rent without any income or support. While it would be very easy to play victim and ask for monitory help from the government, all we are asking for is permission to open our salons for a limited time period, few days a week catering to a small percentage of clientele with strict SOPs so we can sustain our selves. Nabila

Saeeda Mandviwalla – Vice President PHABA says:

Women led Buisness like salons are fundamental to promote women empowerment, jobs and Economic revenue in the country.

foodpanda Delivery Rider Encounters a Never-Seen Before Robbery Incident!

A CCTV footage showing a foodpanda rider getting mugged in Karachi has become viral on social media platforms.

Muhammad Noman was on his daily delivery routine at Nazimabad, Sector 1 on 15th June 2020 where he encountered an incident as two men approached him on a motorcycle, in an attempt to rob him.

A scene that plays out on streets across Pakistan almost daily, only this time there was an unusual twist.

According to the CCTV footage, two masked men on a motorcycle approached the stopped delivery rider completing his delivery while passersby crossed the scene.

The robbers then continued to take their victim’s possessions but were then seen hugging their victim, shaking hands with him and returning all his possessions.

This bizarre turn of events has puzzled Pakistanis across the country.

The victim of the scene, Noman, started crying and requested the robbers to return his possessions. The two men felt Noman’s plea and returned his money.

The mixed emotions of kindness, adversity and sensitivity have made this one of the most watched and talked about videos online over the last week.

In his own words, Noman said (translated from Urdu): “I was confused for a second, thought they were people I know because they approached me saying ‘Salam’ and ‘How are you?’ etc.

When I realized what just happened and saw them leaving I asked them for my phone and money back, I also teared up, which is probably why those guys felt bad for me and returned everything.”

When reached for comment, foodpanda’s CEO Nauman Sikander Mirza said:

“Riders are essential frontline workers and our heroes.

They brave difficult conditions every day to deliver vitally needed food and groceries to your home so you can avoid going out and lessen the risk of Covid-19 for you and your family.

In this instance, I am relieved that Noman is safe and his possessions were returned, but I urge the authorities to do more for the protection of our hard working heroes.”

Nauman Mirza also shared that foodpanda already provides all its delivery riders road safety training, Covid-19 protection gear, health insurance and accidental death coverage. Insurance coverage is free of cost for all riders.

In incidents of criminal activity, if a rider is mugged, he/she has the provision to go to the rider ticketing platform where the rider needs to provide a copy of the valid FIR of the incident.

Upon provision of the valid FIR, the looted amount is waived off from the rider, which is completely borne by foodpanda, in order to protect the rider from financial losses.

Each rider operates in a limited zone of 4-5 kms radius so as to save their fuel cost with a designated department dealing with rider compensation which closely monitors rider’s earnings; with bonuses being provided regularly.

Amidst COVID, where organizations laid off their resources, foodpanda was the one of the few companies in Pakistan to provide earning assistance and ration support to their riders in areas where operations were halted due to the lockdown.

As Pakistan’s leading food delivery company, foodpanda ensures the safety and security of its fleet of more than 15,000 riders across the nation. For now, it’s nice to see that even Pakistani robbers have a heart and sensitive spot for people earning an honest living.

COVID 19 – Patients Who Are Asymptomatic Might Have Lower Immunity Levels

Source/ Forbes

A question that has troubled scientists since the appearance of the pandemic is – does everyone infected with the virus generated antibodies – and if so, how long do they last?

The latest research exhibited on Thursday states that people who contract COVID-19 but don’t show any indications might have considerably lower levels of immunity against the novel virus compared to those who become severely ill.

The majority of virus victims show relatively insignificant signs of infection, and a small proportion shows no symptoms at all.

Source/ BBC
Very little is known about this asymptomatic group of people, given that they are far less likely to be tested than those who go on to develop severe symptoms, including respiratory difficulties.

Researchers in China compared two groups of individuals infected with COVID-19 in Chongqing’s Wanzhou district: 37 who showed symptoms versus 37 who did not.

The researchers assessed blood samples from both groups taken a few weeks after regaining and found that just 62.2 percent of the asymptomatic group had short-term antibodies, compared with 78.4 percent of symptomatic sufferers.

After eight weeks of healing, antibody presence had subsided to 81.1 percent of asymptomatic victims, compared with 62.2 percent of symptomatic patients.

Lower levels of anti-inflammatory

Furthermore, asymptomatic patients established to have lower levels of 18 pro and anti-inflammatory cell-signaling proteins than the symptomatic group, suggesting a weaker immune reaction to the novel coronavirus.

Authors of the study, which was disclosed in Nature Medicine, said their findings called into question the idea that everyone who has had coronavirus is invulnerable to future infection.

Source/ CNN

Immunity Passports

The IgG antibody levels in the patients also began to decrease within three months of infection in a considerable proportion of the asymptomatic victims, the study reported.

This conclusion, along with prior analyses of neutralizing antibodies in patients recouping from COVID-19, highlights the potential risks of using ‘immunity passports’ and supports the consequence of public-health interventions and widespread testing, the researchers announced.

They figured that further study in larger groups of symptomatic and asymptomatic victims is urgently needed to determine the length of antibody-based immunity.

Indus River Dolphins, One of World’s Rarest Species is Found in Pakistan!

Indus River Dolphin Pakistan
PC: SciDev

There are many rare species around the world. Unfortunately, many of them are a day away from extinction. Animal rescuers do their best to protect, preserve, and breed these species so that they may live longer.

One such species which is found in Pakistan and River Beas is the Indus Dolphin. It is said that this breed is one of just four remaining freshwater dolphins species left on the planet.

Furthermore, it is one of the only two species know side-swimming, a behavior in which it lies on its side and flaps its tail.

Destroying their Natural Habitat

barrage
PC: Pakistan Today

Unfortunately for these beautiful sea creatures, being trapped due to the large dams, commonly known as barrages, has become a considerable threat. These dams restrict their movements to roam freely in the water during the monsoon season.

The construction of the barrages destroys their natural habitat. Not only have they restricted the dolphin’s ability to migrate, but the diversions can lead to low water levels where these dolphins often get trapped.

Indus River Dolphins in Sindh

A majority of the dolphins have found themselves concentrated mostly near Sindh in-between 410 miles of water from Guddu to Kotri barrage.

According to studies conducted by  Uzma Khan, Asia coordinator for WWF’s River Dolphins Initiative, DDT, and other pesticides in the animals’ tissue because of water pollution and other industrial waste dumped into the Indus.

The Importance of Preserving the Indus River Dolphins

To help in preserving the species, WWF and the government have curated programs which help in creating awareness among the locals. These locals are given training in how to help save stranded dolphins, which is assisting in the effort.

According to Khan, there are 1,987 Indus dolphins in Pakistan, from 132 back in 1972.

“If you go downstream from the Guddu [barrage], and you keep sailing, there comes the point where you see dolphins everywhere around you,” Khan says. “It’s overwhelming because they’re everywhere.”

At the same time, she says, “it’s a situation which can be challenging because all these dolphins are just in one stretch of the Indus River.” She tells National Geographic.

The Indus River Dolphin is locally called bhulan in the Urdu and Sindhi languages. According to Mir Akhtar Talpur, a field officer for Sindh Wildlife Department, a government agency, the dolphin “has been in the Indus for thousands of years, and is a mark of the Harappa civilization”.

The Harappa descendants consider the dolphin as a part of their heritage. The dolphins have become a part of stories and tales that fishermen tell their offsprings. One such tale is about a woman who offers butter and milk to a mystic patron of the river, the waters part, and she safely crosses to the other side. However, when she makes an unacceptable offering, she is then transformed into a dolphin by the river spirit.

Boost for Tourism
