#YasirHussainIsTheRealGarbage Trends & Pakistanis Are Furious

Yasir hussain

Yasir Hussain is being thrashed on social media for trashing the cast of Ertugrul. Moreover. It’s safe to say that whatever respect he had left in the eyes of the people it’s gone now.

So, What Did Yasir Hussain Say?

Hussain is as controversial as they come. Recently, he’s been repeatedly trying to throw jibes at the cast of Ertugrul as well as the season itself.

Recently, he put up a story on his Instagram in which he was featuring a tweet of someone pointing out local men who resembled two actors from Ertugrul. Hussain replied to that casually that no one will care about them because they’re from home. The “bahar ka kachra” (international garbage) is what people cash upon.

However, is that really true?

As the memes say, the best time to delete that tweet was when it was tweeted, but the next best is now. Yasir Hussain might be contemplating his entire life leading up to this point. On the other hand, some people are having the best day ever.

Twitter Got Furious

The people on Twitter regularly make Yasir Hussain the butt of their jokes. Be it when he proposed to Iqra Aziz or when he breathes basically. As a result, this tweet of his was a field day for them.

#YasirHussainIsTheRealGarbage is trending on twitter. This shows the zeal with which people are criticizing him. Moreover, how insulting is it that as a Pakistani actor, the only time he’s gotten this much recognition is when he’s being called trash…

See The Tweets For Yourself!

Insecurities Exposed

On the one hand, one might even say that Yasir Hussain is hungry for attention from the cast of Ertugrul. They don’t even know whether he exists, but he hates on them as if his life depends on it.

Additionally, what is the purpose of continually passing snide remarks on Ertugrul?

Yasir hussain

Nothing international can come and take your job if you’re competent at it and if your standard is just as high. However, when Pakistani dramas have storylines based on incest and trivializing domestic abuse, then actors can’t complain that they are out of work.

All in all, his remarks have been interpreted by many to be a show of insecurities, and this time, it indeed did land him in hot waters!

PCB Recommends Harsh Punishment For Corruptors In Cricket

PCB
PC: CNN International

Pakistan’s cricket team has been the pride of this nation for years. We have been proud of our boys, whether they win or lose, because of how great they are and how they always try their best.

However, we can’t deny the fact that there have been many cases of corruption and other issues throughout the years as well. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recommended to carry out tough sanctions against individuals who are corruptors in cricket.

“The PCB has reviewed the existing legislation enacted within Pakistan and has noted that the same fail to target and address corruption/illegal manipulation in sports adequately,” Chairman Ehsan Mani said on Sunday while talking to APP.

“In the draft paper, the PCB has proposed severe sanctions about corruption, illegal manipulation, betting, match, and spot-fixing as well as aiding and abetting such conduct and has proposed penalties to be imposed on individuals found guilty of engaging in such offenses,” Mani added.

Pakistan was faced with an embarrassing international situation when top cricketers Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif, and the young talent at the time, Mohammad Amir, testified as guilty for spot-fixing and corruption.

A decade after Lord's scandal, match-fixing still haunts Pakistan cricket
PC: Daily Times

But that’s not the only time Pakistan had to be embarrassed. Cricketer Saleem Malik was given a lifetime ban in 2000 (overturned in 2008) for offering bribes to cricketers. He was the first cricketer to be banned for a lifetime for corruption, and also the first cricketer to be jailed.

Ata-ur-Rehman followed when he was banned in 2000 for dealing with bookers and was also given a lifetime ban (lifted in 2006). Danish Kaneria also found himself in a fix after being banned for life. He was arrested in 2010, although the investigation determined him cleared of allegations, e was found guilty by an England and Wales Cricket Board disciplinary panel and banned for life.

More recently, Sharjeel Khan was placed under a 5-year ban in August 2017 for spot-fixing charges in Pakistan Super League. Asides Sharjeel, other cricketers who were found guilty of spot-fixing include Nasir Jamshed, Khalid Latif, Mohammad Irfan, and Mohammad Nawaz.

Nasir Jamshed Pleaded Guilty in Spot Fixing Scandal!

PCB is currently in the midst of a corruption battle against Umar Akmal. “The PCB takes matters relating to anti-corruption very seriously and firmly maintains a zero-tolerance approach. The PCB doesn’t take any pride in seeing a cricketer of Umar’s stature being banned for corruption. Still, as a credible and respectable institution, we need to send out a loud and clear message to all our stakeholders that there will be no sympathy whatsoever for anyone who breaches the regulations,” the PCB had said last month.

“Too many meaningless matches and events were being organized, which was costing the PCB a fortune without benefiting Pakistan cricket. Also, contrary to the constitution, the Regions were not generating their own funds and had become completely dependent financially on the PCB without any tangible results,” Mani said.

“We introduced a high-quality and competitive 2019-20 season in which the best of the best players featured, and as a result, some of the top performers broke into the recent Pakistan sides, most prominent being Haider Ali.

“To ensure our best domestic cricketers continue to be looked after and are well paid, the PCB offered decent player contracts in the 2019-20 season, which have further been improved for the 2020-21 season.

“I envisage a Plus A Category domestic player will make around PKR3million if he features in all matches of the 2020-21 season, while a D category player will earn just under Rs 1 million. These numbers are based on match fees and daily allowances only, but if you add the prize money, then these numbers will increase substantially.”

Chairman PCB said once cricket clubs are fully active and once cricket comes back on track after COVID-19, proper action will be taken, and there will be new rules to abide with as well.

7 Controversial Pakistani Cricketers & Their Stories that Broke the Internet!

Pakistani Man Exposes Damaged Bridge That Connects Balochistan & Karachi

Pakistani Man Exposes Damaged Bridge That Connects Balochistan & Karachi
Image from a viral video

A video recently appeared on social media platforms highlighting the damaged bridge that connects Balochistan and Karachi.

A concerned civilian recorded the video urging the authorities to take notice of the situation and get the bridge repaired before it breaks down, taking the lives of several innocent travelers.

The bridge and its poor condition

According to the civilian, the pillars of the main bridge connecting Karachi to Balochistan are in deplorable condition, and the bridge can collapse any time.  In a single day, the bridge is used by numerous travelers who are probably unaware of the terrible state of the bridge.

The worried citizen also claimed that if forty to fifty vehicles boarded the bridge simultaneously at any given time, the bridge would fall off. He asserted that whenever such tragedies occur, various organizations rush to help and provide aid to the affectees.

However, this is not a pragmatic solution to the problem, the man suggested. Hence, he urged the authorities to, instead, take notice of the situation beforehand and either reconstruct the bridge or repair its poorly constructed pillars as soon as possible.

In his video, the man also questioned the incompetence and negligence of the authorities towards such issues. Why are such matters always taken into consideration only after substantial damage is done? When will the authorities acknowledge their responsibilities? The man raised numerous questions on behalf of the masses.

Have a look at the video yourself:

Have a look at the condition of the pillars up close:

Although the video is up on social media, our news channels should step in and cover the entire situation in detail, urging the officials to pay heed to the matter and repair the bridge as quickly as possible to avoid considerable damage.

This video is indeed an eye-opener for our authorities, and it’s still not too late for them to employ effective strategies to prevent potential losses.

Who will be answerable?

God forbid, if the bridge collapses, who will be responsible for the damage? Will the authorities acknowledge their incompetency? Even if they do, will they be able to bring back those who would have lost their lives at the hands of these inept officials?

We, hence, urge the authorities to pay heed to the issue and request the citizens to avoid using the bridge until it is repaired.

Do you think that the authorities will take notice of the situation? Will they be able to fix the bridge and save several innocent lives before it’s too late? Or will the efforts of this concerned Pakistani-man go in vain? What do you think? Let us know in the comment section below!

Sajid Hassan

During an episode of Waseem Badami‘s popular TV show called ‘Haar Lamha Purjosh‘ host, Badami played a round of ‘Masoomana Sawal’ or innocent rapid-fire with veteran actor Sajid Hassan.

However, to everyone’s surprise, Hassan ended up brutally insulting Waseem Badami for not bothering to visit him while he was going through a tough time.

He further on added people in the media industry only remembered me when they needed interviews from him or something for their own benefit.

However, nobody asked him about his health when he had his surgery or even after it.

Waseem was not at all sorry or empathetic towards the veteran and actually laughed in response to all his claims, fueling the anger even more!

Set of traffic warning sign on blur traffic road with colorful bokeh light abstract background. Copy space of transportation and travel concept. Retro tone filter color style.

Since we are little, we have often heard the phrase ‘Jesa Des Waisa Bhes’ which means the same as “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”

It means adapting to the culture and roots of the country and accepting it for what it brings.

However, for drivers, riding around in a new country can be very painful, especially when you are unaware of their laws, or when they have bizarre rules.

Countries all over have a different set of driving laws according to the safety of their drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.

Here are some of the most bizarre driving rules we came across:

1. China/Beijing

China
PC: Far West China

Usually, in every other country in the world, a driver stops to allow a pedestrian to cross the street as a sign of courtesy and, of course, to obey rules if there are stop signs at the corner.

However, in China and Beijing, things work differently. It is illegal for drivers to stop their cars for pedestrians.

2. Manila, Philippines

Philippines
PC: autoindustriya

In Manila, the Philippines, drivers who own cars with license plates that end with a 1 or 2 are not allowed to drive on Mondays.

This act was imposed by the authorities to help the massive flow of daily traffic in the capital, hence only certain cars are allowed in certain areas.

3. Thailand

You can be fined for driving topless in Thailand in regards to your gender. Even tourists are not allowed to be topless, whether you are in a tuk-tuk, on a motorbike, or using any other mode of travel.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will be visiting Karachi today, September 5, 2020, to disclose the Karachi Transformation Plan (KTP) — a developmental plan for the metropolis to counter the devastating effects of the torrential rains that wrecked the city.

The disastrous spell of monsoon rain did not only take numerous lives but also put a question mark on the flawed and imbalanced administrative policies that have been governing the economic hub of Pakistan for years.

PM Imran Khan To Transform Karachi With A Rs.802bn Plan!

Prepared under the guidance of Prime Minister Imran Khan himself, the excellent transformation plan for Karachi is worth Rs.802 billion and addresses the key concerns of the citizens.

Among six mass transit systems included in the transformation plan, the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) plan is an Rs300 billion plan for which China would be contributing Rs250 billion and the government of Sindh would provide the remaining Rs50 billion.

Other major development projects included in the Karachi Transformation Plan consist of four concrete waste management projects worth Rs14.86 billion, eight sewerage projects worth Rs162.60, several road construction and repair projects for about Rs62.30 million, and two water drainage projects for Rs4.7 billion.

Karachiites are eagerly waiting for PM Imran Khan to reach Karachi and unveil further details about the Karachi Transformation Plan.

PM Imran Khan’s Concern for Karachi

The condition of the metropolis is constantly deteriorating with time.  According to the Sindh Governor – Mr. Imran Islmail, PM Imran Khan is especially concerned for the city after the devastation caused by the sixth spell of monsoon rain in Karachi. In Geo New’s “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath,” Imran Ismail mentioned that the Karachi Transformation Plan had addressed all the problems of the mega-city.

Well, we have ourselves been witnessing Mr. Prime Minister’s concern for Karachi on Twitter as well.

In late August, amidst the melancholy of the terrible Karachi rains, PM Imran Khan’s tweet was received with sighs of contentment where he promised the people of Karachi that they would not be abandoned. He also assured them that a pragmatic plan will soon be articulated to propose a permanent solution for the problems that they have been facing ever since.

Have a look at Mr. Prime Minister’s tweet yourself:

It looks like Prime Minister Imran Khan is about to fulfill his promise as he acknowledges that the growth of Pakistan is associated with the progress of its financial and industrial capital — Karachi.

It’s good to know that Mr. Prime Minister is all set to rescue The City of Lights from drowning into darkness and hopelessness. After all, Karachi is the heart of Pakistan.

Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister, for being our ray of hope.

Are you as eager as we are for PM Imran Khan to visit Karachi? Do you think that Imran Khan’s Karachi Transformation Plan (KTP) will save Karachi? Let us know in the comment section below!

6 Mistakes To Avoid While Baking Chocolate Chip Cookies

Cookies

Baking cookies is not my forte. As easy as baking might look on these fast motion videos on the internet, I warn you, it is not. It requires so much effort and technique to pull together one successful batch of cookies, or a chocolate cake.

Banana bread, the easiest thing to bake on this planet, can go wrong too if you do not follow instructions. There are some mistakes that you can make while baking and overlook them easily. After dedicating hours, your heart just breaks into pieces when you don’t get expected results.

Here are ten common mistakes you must avoid while baking:

  1. Baking soda and Baking Powder are not the same.

The key is to follow the recipe religiously. Use what the recipe says, baking soda or the baking powder. Cookies can turn out differently with each of the ingredients.

  2. Do not attempt to load all ingredients in the same bowl.

There is a reason why dry ingredients go in a separate bowl while the liquid in another. Don’t add all your ingredients to a single pan.

3. Overmixing Your Batter

Details are so important when baking. Over mixing your batter can result in a runnier batter. It can turn your cookies light and airy.

4. Use Proper equipment

Use proper equipment to measure ingredients. The below pictures comprises of two cookies. Right: The cookie has slightly less flour than the recipe. Left: The cookie has marginally more powder than required.

5. Add enough Sugar

Some people would add less sugar to the batter to limit sugar intake. The Sugar is what makes the cookie chewy in the middle. Skipping it or adding less will not result in a perfect cookie. Just use Brown Sugar instead.

6. Preheat Oven

A lot of people do not know the significance of preheating your oven. You can’t start your cookies in a cold oven. The temperature should be set just as the recipe suggests. Set a timer too.

Protip: Switch your oven on in the middle of assembling your batter.

I hope your cookies turn out great after you identify the common mistakes mentioned above.

5 Best Car Commercials That Will Blow Your Mind Away!

best car ads
Credits: Tormeti

Over the years, we have seen some fantastic beasts roll out of production. Some of them have impressed us so that they have gone down in history.

On the other hand, there have also been a handful of automobile commercials that are regarded as some of the best work and concepts in advertising.

They grip you, keep you hooked until the very end, have a relatable story, and, most importantly, give their messages very subtly.

If you are a metal-fanatic and also admire great advertisement, we have compiled a list of the five best commercials ever!

1. The Cog – Honda

The advert is personally one of our personal favorites. The 2-minute long video shows the entire process of how the Honda Accord is made! Each body part plays out a domino effect that connects all the pieces of the puzzle altogether and reveals the final product.

https://youtu.be/_ve4M4UsJQo

2. “Chicken” Magic Body Control – Mercedes-Benz

Now, this is called advertising! It’s out of the box, cocky, funky, funny; it has all the elements that make a great car commercial. What’s interesting is that the message that Mercedes-Benz wishes to show is very straightforward, easy to pick, and it hasn’t been exaggerated.

https://youtu.be/nLwML2PagbY

What we love about this commercial, in particular, is how the brand decided to use a chicken and relate it to motion stability- absolutely brilliant!

3. Discovery 4 – Land Rover

Be it blizzards, dusty trails, heavy rain, rigged terrains, hills, mountains, or anything you can think of, the adventure must go on! This is what we receive as the message from Land Rover’s Discovery 4 commercial. The concept is simple; it’s appealing; it’s beautiful; it makes you want to go outside and explore!

https://youtu.be/Qxjz_P3yjwM

One of Land Rover’s latest and exciting works is their first-ever indoor commercial called ‘Discover the Great Indoors.’ The brand rolled out the advert during the Coronavirus pandemic, and it is definitely worth watching!

Discover ‘The Great Indoors’ With Land Rover’s Latest Ad!

4. Citroen Dancing Robot

The Citroen dancing robot ad feeds our wish of owning a car that can transform into a robot, similar to Transformers. When they said that the car was alive with technology, they weren’t kidding! The commercial is easy to catch on to; the robot has smooth moves, it’s short, on point, and has you shake a leg along with it.

https://youtu.be/4dilUbkP-PI

5. Nissan Toy Commercial

If you have watched this ad and are a Toy Story fan, then you are in for nostalgia! The commercial kicks off in a very familiar setting, a child’s room filled with their favorite toys. The main character, which resembles a lot to Woody, is seen rushing towards a Nissan, hops in, crosses over to the other room, and impresses Barbie with his new ride!

https://youtu.be/V42Tbm8w2Ak

BONUS

We promised you five awesome commercials, but there are so many that we wanted to share another one that has made our list!

S5 Soapbox Commercial – Audi

There is a common misconception in society that racing and driving are meant for boys. In a modern and progressive world, brands like Audi have broken the stereotyping with soul-touching ads!

One of the ads we feel has touched us is from the 2017 Superbowl in which a father watches his daughter take on the neighborhood boys in a derby competition!

Personal Reflection: Is Patriarchy Boiling Into Misogyny?

misogyny

Time and again, I have come across this narrative that feminists standing up against patriarchy is wrong. It is said that they should stand against specific events and incidences that targeted particular victims. They also enforce that patriarchy is a way of life in Pakistan, a cultural and ‘religious’ way of life. While misogyny is the perpetrator. I seek to break this narrative.

Understanding Patriarchy

So let’s break it down. I googled Patriarchy. The definition I got was a system where the head of the family is a father or the eldest male. Now, this indicates if the father is absent in the picture, the mother of the family cannot be the head since she is a female. Her son, however, who maybe be two decades or younger than her, is the head, and he will be the one issuing orders, and that includes ordering his mom around as well.

Now understand Misogyny

Then I googled misogyny. And the simplest definition I could find was ‘the hatred of, contempt for, or prejudice against women or girls.’ Now bear with me while I explain how endorsing the system of patriarchy, on the whole, can promote misogyny, which is real by the way, and not some specific incidences.

misogyny

Link the two

We established how patriarchy instills the belief that women are not capable of making their own decision since her 18-year-old boy will direct a 40-year-old woman. As a result, that 18-year-old boy thinks that he is superior to women. This is one incident. Bring together an entire country’s population, and they wouldn’t just believe that they are excellent, they would think that it is their right to correct the women’s ‘wrongs.’

Patriarchy transforming

As it continues, and they find that women are ‘straying’ from what men have decreed right, that’s when they start becoming anti-women. This is to note that they are not anti-women; instead, they are anti-(those women who don’t deem them, God). And that hurts what they have grown up with because they have been used to being treated more important than women who were even older than them.

misogyny

And since they have been taught that the only relevant emotion they have is their aggression, they lash out that way. This leads you to read news such as murders of women at the hand of family members.

Drumroll… Aurat March

Let me give you an example. Women got out of the house with various placards and marched to get their rights. Furious about this, in the following weeks, Nation.com reports murders, rapes, and sexual abuse. There was at least 12 murder which was blanketed in the fancy term ‘honor killing,’ and in just two weeks, there were 2776 murders in Pakistan. Reread it now slowly. Two thousand seven hundred and seventy-six. This was the number.

Two thousand seven hundred seventy-six lives were lost, 2276 lives disappeared. Gone!

So it ultimately boils down to the fact that since we endorse patriarchy, we water the seed of misogyny. It won’t end right away. These men have grown up in an environment where they were systematically taught to follow these practices. They can’t unlearn all that in a night by reading one article. But when we start discussing this, the next generation will see better values, better lifestyles, and better men. The age after that will be even better.

However, apart from all the appreciation that Faryal Makhdoom and Boxer Husband Amir Khan received from fans, a lot of people started trolling the couple brutally in the comment section. We are pretty sure that Faryal and Amir would not have expected such off-putting comments while announcing their upcoming TV show on Instagram.

Some even tried to troll Faryal for attempting to copy the Kardashians through this documentary:

However, the hate did not let the Famous Influencer down, and she came up with an equally brutal response:

4 Games You Should Play To Kill The Boredom Of A Long Flight!

Traveling on a budget or not, sometimes you need to travel with 1 or 2 stops in between your flight. At times the transit is not too long, and you have to rush towards your boarding gate (I have done it, its no joke). And at other times, you have more than 14 hours and you have no idea what to do with this long flight or more like a journey.

Even if you are at Al Hammad International or Dubai Airport, you will be tired of roaming around and would be bored. Or if you are on the plane and the flight is long and you do want to watch any film. In that case, you should know a few games. If you are traveling with someone, that will be great, but even if you are not, some of these games can keep you company.

1. Paper Games

They never get old. All you need is a pencil and a paper. You can ask for that on a flight even. And you can start with tic-tac-toe and oh yes, hangman. Of course, you need to get a partner to play these. But that doesn’t mean you have to be traveling with someone for these. No, it just means you need to be strategically extrovert. So start talking to the one sitting next to you and convince him/her.

2. Sudoku

Ok, so this is my personal favorite, for I happen to be an ambivert whose introvert-ness jumps out right when I travel. And hence whenever I travel, keep this sudoku book with me. Keep solving it. Not only will you look sophisticated playing a brainstorming game, but it enhances your brainpower (which is what I like to believe, and it has no scientific proof, so try it on your responsibility).

3. I Spy

I spy is a game I used to play with my mother when I was young. We would do it when we were waiting in the car for my dad. And it sure came in handy when waiting in Qatar during the 8 hour stop.

4. An investigator on a Plane

I made it up, so you have to bear with me. So you are on a plane, and you are bored, so you start imagining a scenario that someone you have been tracking is on a flight as well. Now you have to find out who that is. Is it the chatty old lady in the aisle seat? Or is it the fat man rushing to the loo every five minutes? Or is it the hot stranger sneaking peeks at you?

A little bit of fun, a short but of sleep, and some roaming around, and it will be time for your flight. If it’s even longer than that, well, in that case, I recommend getting a visa for the country you are stopping at and have a small tour on the side.

10 Pros & Cons Of Buying An Electric Vehicle In Pakistan

electric-cars
pc; consumer reports

Electric Vehicles (EV) came out as substitutes for conventional engine vehicles so that there could be an alternative for some drivers who prefer the other option.

Pakistan is even working on introducing an official EV policy for the country, which in itself is an excellent achievement for the country’s progress.

However, electric cars are not perfect, not yet anyway, and hardly seem to exist in the local market.

There are both pros and cons when it comes to electric vehicles. If you are considering buying an electric car, here are some essential factors you should consider.

Pros Of Buying Electric Vehicles In Pakistan

Electric-vehicle
PC: Engineering Post

1. Cheaper Alternative To Petrol

Depending on some people and their income, some drivers consider electricity a cheaper option compared to petrol. For them, an additional charge in their electric bill is better and cost-effective than the amount they spend on filling their tanks.

Secondly, EV vehicles are less expensive to maintain, as these vehicles don’t have exhaust systems, expensive engines, or worn-out brakes to replace.

2. Pleasant Silent Rides

Since an electric car does not have an engine and runs on batteries, which is usually found mounted under the floor of the vehicle, the vehicle does not generate noise pollution as diesel-powered rides do.

3. Charge At Home

There is no need to go out and find a station to charge electric cars; they can be set right at home, which is convenient. Charging kits are available online.

4. Environmentally Friendly

One of the biggest pros is that EV cars are more environmentally friendly compared to engine cars. The main reason is that electric vehicles do not have a tailpipe. Thus there is a green factor involved.

An Electric Car Worth Rs. 4 Lacs Has Finally Been Introduced In Pakistan

Cons Of Buying Electric Vehicles In Pakistan

EV
pc: Dawn

Where there are advantages, there are cons as well

1. Lack Of Interest/Awareness

In Pakistan, the concept of electric cars does not exist because no such vehicles have been brought into the market yet. Many consumers are unaware of EV cars, how they work, their build, etc. Thus, electric cars are not only challenging to find and buy but are also unpopular in front of names like Pak Suzuki, Honda, and Toyota.

2. Electricity Is Not Cheap For Majority Of Pakistan

For the majority of the population, electricity is a significant concern, keeping in mind that not only are there several areas which suffer from long hours of load-shedding, but the price of each unit also increases along time, that too very fast. For an average household, an additional Rs.10-20,000 in their electricity bill would be overrated compared to an engine car.

3. Range

Unlike an engined power car, which provides you with a long-range of miles for travel, the new Mini Car, which was recently launched in Pakistan, is currently being titled with the first electric car that has been imported in the country for sales. However, the vehicle offers about 150KM (different for every car) of travel on a full charge.

4. Long Charging Hours

Asides the load shedding crisis in the country and E vehicle takes between 4-7 hours per charge, sometimes even more, depending on the size of the battery and car itself. However, if a 7-hour charged battery can provide 150KM, if it is charged less or not at all, traveling becomes next to impossible as the car may stop anytime and anywhere. Plus, the longer it takes to charge, the more units are consumed, and more money is added to your bill.

5. Price

Though the price of the launched Mini Car is Rs600,000, which is cheaper than most of the cars available on the streets, many individuals have been thinking more than twice if they are willing to spend so much money on an EV car.

This is because which requires battery changes after every 500 charges, accommodates only two (including the driver), and gives a top speed of 28km/h with a 1.1KW motor and 40km/h with a 2.2KW motor. Not to forget other costs like charging, maintenance of the vehicle, etc.

6. Lack Of Variety

Unfortunately for those who do have a soft spot for EV vehicles do not have many options available in the local Pakistani automotive market to take a pick. The options available are next to none, and the available ones are not as advanced as electric cars by companies like Tesla have produced, due to cost factors.

5 Tips To Help Save Your Car From Theft In Pakistan

Climate Change And How It Has Impacted Pakistan

Climate Change

The torrential rain that reached Pakistan, inflicting destruction in Karachi and then moving to northern Pakistan, had wreaked havoc even before it arrived here. In these rains, Karachi became a victim of urban flooding, landslides, and too many lives were lost. It was all the effects of climate change.

Climate change has been a big issue for quite some time. There have been contradicting approaches whenever the issue of climate change comes up. Some believe that it has truth attached to it, while others reject its positioning entirely.

How Pandemics are linked with Climate Change

But I would say that with this COVID pandemic, the climate change claim gathered some more backing. Such a plague that can put the entire world on hold and have world-class science on its knees it could have only come from something that got uncovered due to the consequences of climate change. And by discovered, I mean the ice is melting away where it shouldn’t have been, at least not at the current rate.

Locust attack

In case you have not been following the news, there were locust attacks all over the agricultural parts of Pakistan. They would come in hoards and destroy the real cops based on acres of land. Small farmers suffered the most out of it, considering they lost their year’s worth of earning.

Just imagine sending a helicopter to deal with the situation and the locusts managing actually to crash the aircraft. Yes, it did happen.

Climate Change Changes Rain

Do we need to go on?

Everyone saw how badly it ruined Karachi. People died due to the fast-flowing water on streets, some drowned by falling in sewerage lines. There was even land sliding (this should be a separate point).

So many uninsured cars were smashed just in that. DHA was almost entirely underwater as well that some of the residents had to leave their house. Some other areas had no drinking water, electricity, or even a way out.

It even affected our heritage. The birthplace of our country’s founder, converted into a library in Kharadar, was full of blackened sewerage water. And all this, thanks to unusual torrential rains.

Burnt Crops

Not just the rains, Pakistan has also seen changing weather patterns in general. Let me explain. So the areas known to grow wheat or chickpeas had an appropriate climate as well. They would have rain when the crop needed it. But now they get extreme sun when they need rain and when some crops do survive that, and the time to get the sun begins, they are getting heavy rainfall. This climate, as a result, is burning the crop field.

The time to discuss whether climate change is real or not is over. It is now time to focus on what to do about it. And do something before something even more tragic happens.

Churails Is A Brave & Bold Social Commentary & An Intense Thriller

churails

Islamabad: Zindagi’s first original and writer/director Asim Abbasi’s acclaimed web series, ‘Churails,’ has had quite a run after having been released some two weeks ago on the OTT platform ZEE5. A bold and much-needed social commentary hiding behind an intense thriller – ‘Churails’ will leave you flustered, scared, curious, and wanting for more.

Starring Sarwat Gilani, Nimra Bucha, Yasra Rizvi, and Mehar Bano in the lead, ‘Churails’ sits right in the real and scripted thriller spectrum. What happens in the show feels real because that is how most women live their lives in Pakistan. You see a little bit of yourself in one or the other character that is represented on the screen, which gives the story an even more personal and empathetic edge.

Churails redefines every mold and idea through which women are perceived in our society. They are expected to be housewives with several kids and a truckload of responsibilities on their backs. Even if they are working women, they are expected to turn to their husbands for all the decision making because women are “foolish, emotional and naïve” and will always need a man to guide them.

churails

This myth is busted when we are introduced to our four central characters; a trophy housewife whose husband cheats on her despite having a perfect life, an alcoholic event planner who lives life on her terms and isn’t answerable to anyone else, an ex-con who killed her husband, and an amateur boxer who wants to break free from the restraints of her controlling family especially her abusive father.

The show paints a real picture of our society instead of the sugar-coated version that’s shown on our screens these days. None of the female characters can be heard telling a man to ‘freshen up while they prepare tea for them’ as they do on every other drama series on all the TV channels.

All in all, Churails isn’t just an “unnecessary piece of fiction that’s out to ridicule and belittle men” as per the unpopular opinion. It sheds light on important issues such as child marriages, domestic abuse and marital rape, and eve-teasing. But it doesn’t stop there. It tells you what actions a woman should take when they find themselves in horrible situations such as those.

Pakistani Fans Excited About PSL 2020 As It Returns In November

PSL 2020

Ever since the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the return of PSL 2020, the internet has witnessed a flurry of activity. According to the news, the remaining four matches, the qualifier, two eliminators, and ultimately the final, will be held in mid-November.

As expected, fans of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) are excited. And considering the pandemic had pushed us in uncertain times, it is understandable that the return of the event came as a surprise. The event will be conducted following the SOP down to the T, at least we hope that.

While all the matches will be held in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, the whole of Pakistan is excited. The fans of Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, and Peshawar Zalmi may be more excited than others, but the idea of cricket is enough to get Pakistan on its toes. And that’s precisely what we witnessed on Twitter. Let’s have a look!

1. Unexpected expectations in Unexpected Times…

Tounge twister much? Well, if a pandemic can halt the world operations, airlines can pause, companies can go out of business, anything can happen. Too harsh? Well, okay. And they reached qualifier so ‘anything’ can occur. So yes, Rana Bilal (@AB18PK), we wish best of luck to Lahore Qalandars too.

2. Baburao conveys it right

There are times when someone asks you how you feel, and you don’t know how to respond. And it is in these times that character like Baburao comes to the rescue. Isn’t this mighty apt, though, because this is precisely what we feel.

3. Remember the Afridi way? But this works too…

I don’t know, but the way Afridi did it, it got imprinted in my mind, but yes, the way he does it works for me too. Because at the end of the day, what matters is PSL. And it means that we are back to being glued to the screens and watching the…ahem… Karachi Kings takeover PSL.

4. Support in the New Normal

This Twitter user hints at what the new supporting style amid the pandemic will look like. And it makes sense and looks safe too. Because if you are not going to be wearing masks, do it while practicing social distancing.

5. Fully charged?

The pandemic has had us all down. But the user with the handle @wastingmytime is right in saying that the news has us all charged and excited.

We are all very excited. Not only is it the return of PSL 2020, but also the fact that life may be returning to normal finally. Whatever that normal now means. But it shows that we persevered through some callous times. And we are ready to face what life may present in the future.
