Another Pakistani is being internationally recognized for their talent, and we couldn’t be more elated. Meet Dr. Shahzad Ahmad, whose efforts in the fight against COVID-19 have won international praise.

Recognized By Saudis As Incredible

The said doctor has won the praise of Saudi Arabia after he successfully and bravely fought against Covid-19 and lowered the fatality rate in the Kingdom during the virus’ peak. Dr. Shahzad Ahmad Mumtaz practices his profession in the Kingdom; thus, his efforts for his home away from home are being recognized rightfully.

Mumtaz’s birth home is Layyah, in Southern Punjab. He has been a resident of Saudi Arabia for the last 18 years now.

The Award Bestowed

Dr. Shahzad Ahmad Mumtaz, when speaking to a media outlet, told the award he had been given in light of his services. He said, “In recognition of my services as head of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the King Salman Hospital, I was given a leadership award and an appreciation certificate by the Saudi health ministry.”

He was presented with the said award during a ceremony that marks the Saudi National day on September 23rd.

A Doctor’s Healing Powers

To provide further insight into what led to him being awarded by the Saudis officially, he spoke about the position he was called in for and his role after that. “At the outset of the pandemic, the Covid-19 mortality rate was very high at the King Salman Hospital. That is the reason why I was brought here as the ICU head — to increase the hospital’s capacity to deal with the challenges posed by the pandemic,” he said.

According to Mumtaz, he succeeded in reducing the deaths by 10 percent during the last five months. He also attributes his success to better team management and the availability of modern techniques and technology.

The Sacrifices Behind The Achievements

Mumtaz also remarked that during the past 5-6 months, he had not taken a single leave. His average work shift has spanned over 19-20 hours too. Dr. Shahzad Ahmad Mumtaz was also behind the expansion of the ICU at his hospital. Going from 14-60 beds is no easy feat, but his tough decisions reared incredible results.

Commemorating his colleagues, he remembers another Pakistani doctor. Naeem Chaudhry became the first in the Kingdom to lose the fight against the virus.

Saudi Arabia was initially hit quite strongly by the virus. It had long-lasting effects on the country and its residents, too, as the religious sites closed down, and Hajj was canceled. The government, however, has recorded a significant drop in Covid-19 cases in the last few days. The total number of recoveries in Saudi Arabia increased to 315,636 after 843 more patients recently recovered from the virus.

After doing intermediate and A-levels, the next step in the phase of education is undergraduate. Now, if you want to do your bachelor’s in the field of engineering, then you can opt for the University of Engineering & Technology (UET). We have assembled some essential points that you will need to know if you are indeed serious about UET admissions.

Eligibility Issues

So let’s see what makes you eligible for this university, shall we? So your intermediate result or be it any foreign degree, when you get its equivalence made, it should be equal to 60%. This result will be excluding the sports result and Hafiz-e-Quran marks. It would help if you also had appeared for the entry test arranged by the university.

Also, it can not be like someone who had a specific subject combination during intermediate can change it during the entry test. It would help if you stayed consistent with the subjects basically because your admission discipline depends on it. Let me break it down for you. If you want admission in B.Sc Engineering Technology or a similar degree, you should have a minimum C in Physics, Mathematics/Biology, and Chemistry/Computer Studies.

Let’s go a little deeper. So the applicant should have a resident certificate or the domicile of the place he is applying from. The applicant should also have the right physique and eyesight.

Weightage Forms Profile

Your profile for admission will be based on the following weightage:

Applicants from Intermediate background:

Entry Test (ET) Percentage Marks: 30%
Matric Percentage Marks: 25%
First Year Percentage Marks: 45%

If the applicant is from the Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) background:

ET Percentage Marks: 30%
Sum of First and Second-Years Percentage Marks: 70%

If the applicant has a foreign qualification:

ET Percentage Marks: 30%
“O” level or equivalent: 70%

The applicant from a Pre-Medical intermediate and having Mathematics as an additional subject will have his bio marks replaced by Maths.

Hafiz E Quran Applicants

Hafiz e Quran applicants will have to check the appropriate checkbox on the online application form. They will get additional marks while determining their merit. A verification committee will verify Their status of Hafiz e Quran. Usually, the Vice-Chancellor appoints the committee, which then judges all the hafiz e Quran candidates on a scale of zero to twenty marks.

Athlete Applicants

Once again, the applicants will get the marks and the according to benefits only if they have mentioned it in his application form. The Vice-Chancellor appoints the committee for this field as well. A total of 10 marks are awarded in this stream. The breakup of these ten marks are:

5 Marks for Physical Test showing actual performance and endurance and,
1 Marks for Inter College Champion
2 Marks for District Level Champion
3 Marks for Divisional Level Champion
4 Marks for Provincial Level Champion
5 Marks for National Level or under 18 representation abroad

Working Experiences In Pakistan

In Pakistan, paid internships are still an alien concept even though internationally, they’re being disregarded. Many educated and learned people are exploited in the name of “experience” in unpaid internships. While these interns pick up the load of everyone and positively contribute to the workplace, they have nothing to gain.

Ingredients you need:

– Your favorite biscuits
– Strawberry ice cream

– Strawberry syrup
– Crushed pistachios (for a pop of color)
– Fresh strawberries (finely diced)

Layer it up!

For the base, add a layer of biscuits, a scoop of strawberry ice cream, drizzle some strawberry syrup, add a dollop of whipped cream, another layer of biscuits, a scoop of ice cream.

Ingredients you need:

– Chocolate or coffee ice cream
– Brownie chunks
– Chunky peanut butter (yes, chunky)
– Crushed peanuts (you can never have enough of them)
– Chocolate sauce (to drizzle on top)

Layer it up!

For the base, add a layer of brownie chunks, then add ice cream, chunky peanut butter, chocolate sauce, and repeat.

Top it off with a generous drizzle of chocolate sauce and crushed peanuts!

3. Mango Sundae

It’s mango season and there’s no way you can miss out on a mango dessert! Try this mango ice cream sundae!

Ingredients:

– Mango ice cream
– Fresh mangoes (bite-sized chunks)
– Whipped cream
– Canned fruit cocktail
– Mint leaves for garnish

Layer it up!

Add a scoop of mango ice cream, add a spoonful of canned fruit cocktail and mango chunks, add another scoop of ice cream. Top it off with a dollop of whipped cream and a mint leaf.

4. Creamy Banoffee Sundae

Let’s call it a deconstructed banoffe pie? Yum! Try it out!

Ingredients:

– Vanilla ice cream
– Ripe bananas
– Store-bought chocolate chip cookies (crushed)
– Whipped cream
– Chocolate shavings
– Caramel sauce

To make easy caramel sauce, here’s what you need:

– 1 cup packed brown sugar

– 1/2 cup butter

– 1/4 cup milk

– 1tsp vanilla extract

Bring brown sugar, butter, and milk to a gentle boil and cook until it’s thickened. This would take around 1 to 2 minutes. Once thickened, remove from heat,add vanilla extract and give it a good stir. Voila!
