New Parents Win Free Domino’s Pizza For 60 Years

A lifetime supply of free Pizza, can you imagine it? Well, I can only think of heaven. And apparently, this Australian family has found their heaven on earth. How cute is it that the day they get blessed by a son, they are able to get pizza free for a lifetime? Domino’s Pizza made it happen for them. And the offer is valid for the next 60 years!

The story behind it all

So how it happened was that the fast-food chain had a competition to celebrate their 60th anniversary. In this promotion, Domino’s had pregnant couples as participants. So were they to give birth on the 60th anniversary and name their child Dominic or Dominique, they would be eligible for the prize. And so on December 9th, 2020, exactly six hours after the competition began, a Sydney based couple gave birth to a boy. They named him Dominic. Clemintine and Anthony welcomed their first child early morning on that day.

Let’s pay a little bit more attention to the prize now, shall we?

The details are that the couple will be able to order $14 worth of pizza every month. In the next sixty years, the price of all the pizzas ordered will amount to $10,080.

Domino’s Pizza said in their Instagram post:

“Weighing in at 3.907kg, or approximately 23 garlic breads, he is the first baby for the couple and clearly a born winner. Not only was he always destined to be named Dominic (the top choice on mum and dad’s baby name list), but he ensured his debut early on Wednesday morning made his family the front runners for Domino’s 60th Birthday Giveaway – despite mum going into labour three days earlier!”

Talk about destiny.

Apparently, the Lot Family had taken the competition’s announcement as a joke because little Dominic was going to arrive on Tuesday and not Wednesday.

Was Dominic always supposed to be Dominic?

The parents claim that they were already going to name their little one Dominic, so this win comes as a coincidence. In fact, they had decided to name him that days before they came across the advertisement. Clemintine Oldfield further added that this was her favorite name, and they had chosen it when they found the baby’s gender.

The competition was going to stay open till January 2021, and until then, the couples all over Australia would have to send their eligibility applications through email confirming themselves as candidates.

Well, little Dominic, Clemintine, and Anthony have emerged lucky winners. Although one is bound to think a little about thirty years into the future and what would the thirty-year-old Dominic will get in $14.

A Cousin In Need

Shahveer Jafry’s cousin got diagnosed with Leukemia (blood cancer), and his treatment required a substantial financial sum, which his family could not afford. In order to help, Shahveer Jafry did what he knew best. He took to Youtube.

PMC Admission Criteria 2021: Private Medical & Dental Colleges

If you are a medical student aspiring to seek education in your field, this post is for you. Everything related to the education in medical fields gets rerouted to the candidates through Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). So for the academic year starting in 2021 as well, PMC has announced the admission process. These guidelines are concerning private medical and dental colleges.

The Commission has released the instructions in a four-part series. But the most important clause is that the candidates who have attained 12 years of education abroad are exempted from the MDCAT exam. They do, however, have to submit SAT scores, and a score below 480 in any SAT II subject would make them ineligible. It should be noted, though, that this exemption is only for the year 2021.

Eligibility

Moreover, since SAT-I was not held globally, the candidates do not need to submit English scores. They need to submit the scores for these subjects: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Maths.  

The students who got their education locally need to have a minimum of 65% result in their FSc or HSSC. If the candidates have attained education in the Cambridge system, they need to show 65% or more in their IBCC equivalent certificate of their A-levels result.

They have clearly highlighted no quota system for international students this time, and everything shall be on merit. So if the application is not fulfilling any eligibility criteria, they will be rejected.

Merit 

The whole admission process, the PMC says, will be on merit. And the way they will be calculating the merit is around the following weightage:

– F-SC/A-Levels IBCC equivalence certificate: 30%
– MDCAT/SAT-II: 50%
– Interview: 20%

Aside from fulfilling the merit criteria, the applicants also need to present some documents. These documents include Picture (preferably passport size), CNIC/Passport (something to identify you with), F-SC/HSSC/A-Level equivalence certificate, and SAT II document (if applying on this basis).

If you have the right merit score and have all the documents, then you can apply to as many colleges as you want; there is no limit. The minimum requirement is at least one MBBS or BDS college. But choose wisely because it is not just about attaining a degree; it is your stepping stone in the medical field. And if the base is misplaced, the whole structure may tumble down.

A lot of people stated, back in 2015, that Apple is more likely to make a flying car rather than an iCar. An early release does raise some eyebrows because Apple is not known to rush things. They either delay or would prefer cancellation over an early release.

Mcdonald’s has launched a bizarre new burger. It is something you could never have imagined before. It is also something others are showing to each other as punishment, saying that if I saw it, you have to too. 

Meet the new burger complete with Spam, crushed Oreo pieces, and a creamy sauce. Yikes!

Several influencers are sharing the photos as part of Mcdonald’s China’s promotional campaign. However, they are just dividing the internet further. People aren’t sure whether they love it more than anything or hate it more than anything.

More Details On The Oreo Mash-Up Burger

 ‘McDonald’s China is introducing a new Oreo x Spam burger on December 21. There will be 400,000 produced and sold,’ tweeted Daniel Ahmad. We guess Mcdonald’s should keep a wastage place ready to store 400,000 pieces! Keep in mind; this is Mcdonald’s China— it is not available elsewhere.

In a follow-up tweet, Daniel claimed people in China ‘hate this too’; they are not too happy with this. He also quickly pointed out that McDonald’s is an American chain.

‘Some of y’all saying ‘Why would China do this’ seem to have forgotten that McDonald’s is an American company,’ he added humorously. It’s not as if America hasn’t had its share of the most strange food combinations!

So the last people were able to actually see this conjunction from the earth was 800 years ago in 1226.

The math responsible here is the number of years the planets take to complete their revolution. Jupiter takes 12 years while Saturn takes 29, so every 20 years, they cross each other. Not sure if it will be this grand of an event every 20 years, but in 2020 it was definitely great, considering this particular event happened after 794 years. And so google doodle also celebrated it.

While the best place to see this event was where the skies were clear and that too, near the equator but people were striving to catch the moment through their cameras. This is a vehicle which entirely new to the market. It has yet to be tried and tested, but it’s specifications give promise to a good car. Despite the name now being familiar, once we dive into the details, it can be seen that this car might ride in the same league as Toyota Yaris. Its pre-booking has started as well.

This is a vehicle by Toyota, which took quite a grip on the market in 2020. At first, people were a bit doubtful as to what it delivers as a car. However, as time went by, and more and more reviews came to light, many of the audience came to appreciate this vehicle. By the end of this year, this four-door sedan had the most extensive sales number of the year!

Design

The Changan Alsvin is being considered the cheapest sedan to have ever been released in Pakistan. Like all four-door sedans, it has ample seating capacity as well as boot space. It has a 15cm ground clearance, with vented disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the rear. It tops up a Kerb weight of 1120kg and is seen as a formidable vehicle.

The Toyota Yaris has front seats that are covered with fabric. You can say goodbye to back pains when going on long road trips in this vehicle. It has a soft suspension setup, which allows for a highly comfortable ride. This can enable the car to do well in certain off-road terrains as well.

Under The Hood

The Changan Alsvin comes packed with a 1400cc engine, which serves as the basic variant. However, you can upgrade to the 1500cc version of the vehicle too. The former is a manual transmission, whereas the latter serves as a 5-Speed DCT Auto Transmission. Its fuel average can reach 16-18 km to the liter, depending on whether it is the city or the highway.

Toyota Yaris is built with an engine that also comes in two variants. The first one is 1.3 Litre, and the second is 1.5 Litre. Its fuel average depends on which variant you’re going for. The former can give out approximately 14km to the liter, whereas the latter can go as high as 16km to the liter.

The Price Bracket

The current price of Changan Alsvin is set at around Rs.23 Lac. This is quite the low price for a four-door sedan. It is definitely worth a glance at due to its premium features.

The Toyota Yaris is currently being sold at Rs.25-30 Lac. It seems quite a reasonable price, considering what the buyer is getting in return. As opposed to initial reviews, it is definitely a worthy vehicle!

SBP Launches Consultation On Banking On Equality Policy – An Initiative To Increase Financial Inclusion Of Women In The Country

In order to address one of the key challenges hindering economic growth of Pakistan to its full potential, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched a national dialogue on its forthcoming policy to reduce the gender gap in financial inclusion. Dr. Reza Baqir, Governor SBP hosted a webinar titled “Launch of Consultation on Banking on Equality policy: Reducing the Gender Gap in Financial Inclusion” on Monday, December 21, 2020.

The webinar featured an exclusive panel discussion around women’s financial inclusion with international thought leaders in the area of gender and finance including Princess Zahra Aga Khan, Director Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN); Ms. Ceyla Pazarbasioglu, Director of Strategy, Policy and Review Department, IMF; and Dr. Reza Baqir Governor, SBP. Dr. Anita Zaidi, President of Gender Equality at Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation moderated the discussion.

Deputy Governor SBP, Ms Sima Kamil made a presentation on the state of women’s financial inclusion in the economy and shared the features of the Banking on Equality policy. The webinar was attended by diverse local and international stakeholders representing public offices, international agencies, banks and associations. In addition, nearly 1,000 people also watched the webinar live through social media platforms.

Governor SBP, Dr. Reza Baqir, in his opening remarks said that improved gender parity in financial and economic opportunities can enhance overall socio-economic development outcomes of a nation, for not just the present but future generations. He noted that the event had three key goals. The first objective was to bring attention to the shared goal of reducing the gender gap in women’s financial inclusion.

The second goal was to share the content of the Banking on Equality policy that was being launched for consultation. Finally, the third goal was to get feedback from stakeholders on the policy itself. He welcomed the feedback that was provided by the international participants and others that would be provided over the course of next several weeks.

He noted that central banks in developing and emerging markets, where there are often market failures, have an important role to play in ensuring that important sections of the society don’t get left out from benefitting from the financial system through access to saving, borrowing, insurance and other financial products.

He said that the SBP looked forward to working with other domestic and international partners to further the cause of improving women’s financial inclusion. In this context he also appreciated the support being provided by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for helping advance SBP’s agenda on promoting financial inclusion in Pakistan.

In her presentation Deputy Governor SBP, Ms. Sima Kamil, noted that the gender gap in financial inclusion is rising. She noted that only 11.7 million, or 18% of the adult women, have active bank accounts compared to 51% for men.

Deputy Governor Kamil unveiled five key pillars of the Banking on Equality policy under which actions are targeted towards improving institutional diversity, product diversification and development capability, customer acquisition and facilitation approaches towards women segments, gender disaggregated data collection, and prioritizing gender focus in SBP’s policies. The policy recommendations will be applicable on all banks, microfinance banks, DFIs and EMIs.

During the panel discussion, Princess Zahra Aga Khan, Director AKDN, shared her views on how to make headways in the gender diversity landscape, and also shared her experience on what steps can make a difference. Ms Ceyla Pazarbasioglu, Director IMF, gave her valuable thoughts on the importance of gender diversity in financial service providers that can improve overall women’s financial inclusion in a country. She also shed light on key demand and supply side barriers that globally exist for women’s low financial inclusion.

Now, as the consultation process has commenced, SBP will conduct series of focused stakeholders’ consultation sessions with commercial banks, microfinance banks, women working in FIs, prominent female thought leaders, women chambers, women entrepreneurs and housewives to get more feedback. Based on the broader feedback, the policy will be further enriched. After the feedback is complete, the policy is expected to be launched in early February 2021. The application has to be submitted through the HEC portal, so only those who have registered themselves at HEC will apply for it.

The elements that the scholarship cover are airfare, tuition fees, stipend (living allowance), warm clothing allowance, study travel grants, and paid mid-term visit (airfare) to your home country. If you are traveling with your family, they will also provide family allowances. So you can attain education for the next four years worry-free.

Here is an important detail, however. The candidate needs to submit two applications; one for the commonwealth and the other for HEC. Failure to submit even one will lead to disqualification of the candidate.

The IPG Group Bags Exclusive Rights For SCA T10

Singapore:  Singapore Cricket Association (SCA) has awarded the marketing and organizing rights for the SCA T10 Cricket to Dubai/Pakistan based Innovative Production Group (IPG). Five companies had submitted an expression of interest (EOI) after SCA had floated an RFP (request for proposal) for the sale of rights in August this year. The IPG Group has emerged as the highest bidder for the rights. This is the second major cricket league for which the IPG Group has bagged the rights after the successful Lanka Premier League (LPL) in Sri Lanka.

A virtual contract signing ceremony was hosted jointly by SCA and IPG Group in compliance with Covid guidelines on 16th December 2020 where SCA President Mr. Mahmood Gaznavi signed the contract documents on behalf of host Governing Body SCA in the presence of Deputy President Mr. Subir Ghatak, Vice Presidents Mr. Manesh M and Mr. S Santhanam, Hon. Treasurer Mr. Neeraj S and CEO of the SCA Mr. Saad Khan Janjua.

Managing Director of the IPG Group, Mr. Jawad Ghulam Rasool added, “The IPG Group will work closely with SCA and will always thrive to add value to the existing cricketing eco-system in Singapore.”

The 10-year rights bagged by the IPG Group include TV & digital broadcasting rights, production rights, franchisee sales rights and league management rights. This is the first T10 league where both men and women’s teams will be participating. The first year will have six teams in the fray and the number will be increased to eight teams from the third year onwards. The league is scheduled to be held in the second half of 2021 in Singapore.

Islamabad To Introduce Electric Train In Upcoming Safari Park

Islamabad Zoo/Wildlife Safari Park

The zoo that previously housed Suzie and Kaavan is now going to get its own Wildlife Safari Park. This will become one of the tourist attractions built under the idea of a pollution-free amusement park. This is an initiative by the Ministry of Climate Change. In talks with a publication, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Climate Change discussed wildlife conservation and information center. The main goal, according to SAPM Malik Amin Aslam, was to spread public awareness on local flora and fauna.

And even without many animals that have been shipped away, the 10 hectares of land is home to many species that the tourists can learn more about. So these indigenous species will be protected in the conservation center.

This is a landmark news because, in 2018, 30 animals died in Pakistan when the new zoo in Peshawar opened.

Now that all the animals of the Islamabad Zoo have left and it has been closed for the public as well as the officials, the work to change it into an amusement park will officially start soon with an electric train taking tourists around the 10 hectares, probably more, of the land expanse. This will hopefully lead to a positive impact on the tourism industry of the country.
