2. Realme 5i

Here we have yet another Titan of the Budget Smartphone industry. Realme came into the competition as a subsidiary under Oppo. Since then, they have risen to quite an altitude. Realme 5i is a phone that is almost perfect on a budget. It features a Quad camera array, with one of the lenses being Macro and another being a Wide-angle. It has a cosmos level 5000maH battery, which can easily last up to and beyond two days. So what about the processor?

The phone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor. This is barely a couple of generations earlier than the 800series. The phone even had 64GB storage and 4GB Ram. All this, in a budget price of Rs.24, 500. (price can be lower depending on retailer) Its Antutu Score on Kimovil is 170, which gives the Samsung S8 score a run for its money!

3. Motorola Moto E 2020

Motorola is one of the oldest players in the cell phone game. They have been running this race for many years and continue to do so. They started from Antenna based wireless phones and have not dived into smartphones too. The Motorola Moto E 2020 is a budget smartphone that houses a powerful processor. This processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632. Running at eight cores with them performing at 1.8Ghz, the phone is a small beast.

All of this at a price of Rs.24, 999. However, there is a point to be noted that Motorola phones have a difficult re-sale. So there is a good chance that any unit of this phone you get is either new or barely used.

4. Samsung Galaxy A21

Samsung released its A-series, keeping the budget in mind. It has some amazing phones, from A20 all the way up to A30 or A40. Despite the smartphones having a plastic body, they dish out quite a lot of performance. They are known to be extremely resilient in terms of processors too. The A21 is a phone that is yet to release, but its specifications are already out.

This is one of the slightly higher budget smartphones. It features a Meditek processor, specifically the MT6765 Helio P35. This is actually an Octa-Core processor, with 4 of them running at a staggering 2.35Ghz. Its price is expected to be set at Rs.34, 999. It’s Kimovil Antutu Score set at 103, with a 4000maH battery.

5. Realme 6

One cannot end this list without actually mentioning a second Realme phone. This phone is a step higher than Realme 5. However, it comes with a slightly higher budget too. It features an impressive display and quite a powerful Quad camera array, with the rear measuring at 64MP total.

The Processor housed by this phone is the Meditek Helio G90T. This is quite an impressive phone since it does not allow room for heating up or hanging. The price of this phone is marked at Rs.35 000 (price can vary depending on retailer)

During the ongoing pandemic, I had some time on my hands to read up on healthy food alternatives that can be easily replaced in our diet. These substitutes are readily available in the market and can be ordered from your usual grocery store.

Once you incorporate these ingredients into your diet, you will feel a difference in energy levels throughout the day, and that’s not it! You might even see a substantial difference on the weighing scale in a few months.

I have tried and tested these substitutes and witnessed increased productivity throughout my days. Let’s have a look at these fantastic ingredients.

1- One of my staple foods is Pasta. My pantry usually has all kinds of Pasta at all times, and I can stir up a bowl within a few minutes and can eat it daily but with a lot of guilt.

Did you know you can eat a bowl of Pasta without the guilt? Yes, you heard that right. Just replace all the Pasta in your pantry with whole wheat pasta, and you’re good to go!

2- Brown Sugar is one of my favorite sweeteners these days. Be it baking, tea, or even some stir-fried beef stripes; brown sugar has won my heart. Please note that other kinds of processed sweeteners are not great for your health.

3- Choose multigrain or whole wheat bread instead of your usual flour bread as a breakfast option. There are more calories in the multigrain/whole wheat bread, but it has more nutrients and fiber. It keeps you full for longer and curbs cravings.

4- Use egg whites only! I love whole eggs, but they tend to have too many calories and also increase your blood pressure. Skip the yolk, and stir up four egg whites as breakfast or a mid-day snack as the whites are loaded with protein.

5- Skim milk over full-fat milk: Not everyone is lactose tolerant, but if you are and wish to consume dairy, try getting your hands on skim milk as it cuts down your calories significantly.

6- Low-fat cheese is the way to go! I do not think you need to consume cheese every single day! It makes you super sleepy and fuller than you’d like on a working day, but in case you are, choose low-fat instead of full-fat.

7- Incorporate brown rice instead of white. Firstly, as soon as you consume white rice, you would want to nap; secondly, not high on a day, you wish to be productive and get things done. Skip the rice, curb cravings with the brown rice.

8- So many recipes ask for flour, which is unhealthy. Try to use whole wheat flour in your recipes as it is a healthier alternative.

Pro tip: Try consuming superfoods!

Although this story is a little old, but it’s always heartwarming whenever we come across it – and of course, what better time than Eid to repost it?

We see many things every day that tend to liven up our spirits. Whether it is the animal world or the humanitarian one, these things can keep us hopeful. Sometimes, we see acts around us that remind us of the beauty of this world. Despite there being a pandemic, a lot of people have not lost hope in goodness and kindness. This Eid, an elderly policeman was seen giving out Eidi to drivers.

Does this not warm your heart to see someone doing this? The job of a policeman can be extremely tiring, especially when it’s traffic control. We are all aware of how bad the traffic situation is in Karachi. So if someone is trying to improve it, we should support them without question. Despite there being an enormous heatwave in Karachi, the traffic police people are hard at work, trying to ensure there are no accidents.

Around the area of boat basin, there is an elderly policeman. It can be seen as his station for quite a long time now. He is a veteran in his field and he takes pride in doing what he does. For the last two days, he has been seen doing something quite extraordinary. Yes, he has been distributing eidi to drivers stopping at the signal or passing by. This is an act of generosity that cannot be unrewarded.

There must be some way that we can pay him back, without making it seem entirely obvious. How much eidi he is giving is not the point of concern because any contribution counts. There is no small or big when it comes to giving from the heart. It is an extremely appreciable and honorary gesture from his end and may he have the best eid ever. It just puts a smile on many people’s faces when they see him on the corner and then he visits the car.

Mere paas tum ho starred Ayeza Khan, where her character betrayed her husband to be with Shehwar (spoiler alert, if you still haven’t seen it). Adnan Siddiqui plays that role. And even though there were some cute scenes where they dance together but, that particular charm that chemistry is missing.

2. Imran Abbas – Sanam Jung

They came together in Dil e Muztar; they just didn’t click. Sarwat Gilani played the antagonist, but her chemistry with Imran Abbas was perfect. It could be due to how the characters were written.

Being a fan of both, I genuinely waited for this drama. Plus, the teasers indicated a different and fun story. But as it turns out, the chemistry was not what I expected.

4. Zara Noor Abbas – Asad Siddiqui

These are married in real life, and they are such goals whenever you see them in programs. But then they did the drama Zebaish. And unfortunately, they are not as great of an on-screen couple as they are real-life couples.

I saw them in Meri Zaat Zarra e Benishan. Maybe they wanted to show Mehreen’s character as very selfish, and that’s why it happened, but the chemistry is just off.

Friends is one of those sitcoms that has been gaining a fan following even long after it stopped airing. Running for ten seasons, the six lead cast members parted ways to make their own separate careers but fans, old and new, could never give up on the wish of seeing a reunion. Now, 17 years later, it has been announced that there will finally be a Friends Reunion. It will air on HBO Max on May 27th, 2021.

As is their way, the show casts celebrity guests, which makes it even more fun. Remember the time Brad Pitt made an appearance on the show?

With the Reunion as well, there will be around 15 celebrity guests as part of it; all of them who have proved themselves worthy to the entire world. So with BTS taking over the world with their albums, it was only expected that they would make an appearance, but what if I were to tell you that someone from Pakistan will also be sharing the screen with the amazing cast?

So with a drumroll, I would like to share that Pakistan’s very own, Nobel prize winner, Malala Yousafzai will be one of those celebrity guests.

Other than BTS and Malala, the guests are said to include Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, David Beckham, and Kit Harington. There is more exciting news. We will probably get to hear ‘O My Gawd’ in our favourite way because Janice will also be there.

When bored of watching action and comedy movies, Pakistani Awaam creates its own horror movie. Recently, a video circulated on the internet of a “Churail” walking on monkey-bars and then disappearing into the tree in Askari IV Park. *Goosebumps*

Every now and then, you hear stories about Jinns, Churails, Spirits, and what not! Although these events seem to be true, one cannot vouch for their authenticity. But this time, the case is somehow different.

The shocking part of the entire incident is these boys actually recorded the video of this “Churail” rather than running away from that spot. Where the Churail’s scream was deadly enough to scare the guts out of one person, kudos to these champs who kept on recording the whole scene.

Covid-19 Patients Can Breathe On Their Own With This New Drug

The pandemic era has really enveloped all of us. Where we used to think the virus is contained in one country, we were proven otherwise. It took less than a year for the whole world to come under the grip of this tyrant.

Countless people have lost their lives and many more have recovered from it. It can attack every person differently so one must tread with extreme caution. Now, we have found out that there is a new drug in testing.

Since the vaccine was first introduced to the public, people have been getting their shots. Every day, we see more and more people protecting themselves from covid-19. Since it began, there has been extensive research, be it related to a drug or new strains.

Now, the vaccine isn’t quite widespread but the progress is steady. In light of such news, we have a new drug that seemed to have cleared some testing. According to reports, it could help Covid-19 patients breathe on their own.

A New Drug

This is going by the name of Lenzilumab, from Humanigen. Apparently, about 540 patients were given this drug in a randomized trial. According to the reports of the result, many people did not require the need of a ventilator. Yes, the drug increased survival chances by 52%. This percentage shows that the people were more likely to breathe on their own and survive rather than through a mechanical ventilator.

The drug was tested many times in individuals less than the age of eighty-five. Patients who have received steroids in treatment were also given this drug. According to the results, their survival chances went up by 92%. This seems like quite a significant development in the battle against the virus. It shows that many people can recover without the need to go on a ventilator.

Fighting the battle

While this is certainly good news, we must remember that this battle is still ongoing. We must continue practising various social distancing procedures. Being vaccinated does not mean that you roam outside without a mask. God forbid, you may catch another strain of the virus, one which is not in the vaccine’s fighting grounds. The number of cases has been going high and Pakistan is going through its worst wave yet. There is no telling what lies in store for the future but we can hope for the best.

The chief of Humanigen has also stated that this is definitely a big step forward in the fight against covid. It shows that there is still a lot of work to be done and there is potential in this drug. When it hits the market in bulk, maybe it brings out better news and good feedbacks.
