National Foods Contribute In Saving Nature On World Environment Day

Global warming is affecting the world big time. We continue with our toxic actions in hopes to maintain our current lifestyle. However, we forget that this may be a paradox. We want to keep living the lives we are living but in order to do that, we continue destroying the environment. When the environment is completely destroyed, will that world even be worth living in? National Foods realized that and decided to do their part this year on the World Environment Day.

On the World Environment Day, this year, National Foods Limited took a major step as part of their beliefs of ‘Being Responsible’ and ‘Leading by Example’. To save nature, the company optimized the Recipe Mixes’ packs to reduce its carbon footprint & paper usage by 25%. Because of this measure, the company will be saving a large number of trees every year.

Not just that, National Foods also started a digital trend on the day to encourage people regarding planting trees. The trend is sure to enable most people in reducing their carbon footprint.

National Foods passed the torch to celebrities & influencers

Amongst celebrities, it was Iqrar-ul-Hasan and Fakhr-e-Alam. Both of them took to Twitter announcing their pledge of planting a tree. The idea in their message was simple; this was an investment in saving the future and they conveyed it with the hashtag #letsplantourfuture.

Influencers also came together to move this issue forward. Not only did they acknowledge and appreciate National Foods, but they also shared their own efforts for making the environment greener.

To ensure that this effort gains momentum, the company sent starter packs for planting trees to many influencers. The starter pack was not only cute but very utility oriented as well. It contained three types of seeds: sunflower, cantaloupe, and okra. It also had a pot in which you could plant these seeds. With that were National Foods special recipe mixes packs.

The speciality, however, was how eco-friendly the boxes the products came in were. They were made with seed paper! As the name suggests, you could plant the paper itself to get a tree back from it. Isn’t it poetic; returning back what was taken from the nature?

It did happen!

On World Environment Day, the movement picked up the hype and social media was brimming with the relevant hashtags; #WorldEnvironmentDay and #LetsPlantOurFuture were the top two trends on Twitter.

With influencers participating in the challenge of planting trees, it seems much more likely that the general public will also follow suit.

Brands, especially the one with reach to the masses, have a responsibility; the responsibility to discuss and if possible, rectify situations. National Foods accepted it by ensuring that this won’t be their last input in saving nature. Aside from enlightening the general public reminding them about common man’s responsibility, they are also collaborating with the government and WWF regarding tree plantation and reforestation. In the same capacity of playing its role for sustainable environment, National Foods is co creating reusable bags with NOWPDP-Shamil.

National Foods, it is clear, is playing its part. But are we? Are we doing everything in our power instead of dumping it all on authorities?

All may not be lost, yet. Yes, global warming is on the rise; there is pollution; the sea level may be rising, but we can still take on the lantern ignited by National Foods and play our part in saving nature. Remember, every seed counts. So, today, plant a tree for good luck. Plant a tree tomorrow for winning a project. And the day after tomorrow, plant a tree for your child. Keep it going. Even if you lose some trees, or even if you lose almost all the trees, at least one will survive. You will have done your part.

Uber Partners With UNESCO To Provide Teachers With Free Rides To Vaccination Centers

Islamabad – June 22, 2021: Uber, the global ride-hailing platform that seamlessly connects riders with drivers, in an attempt to extend its commitment towards education development, has collaborated with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to provide free rides to teachers to and from their respective vaccination centers in Pakistan.

Uber is offering 4 free rides for teachers and educational professionals, identified by the Government of Pakistan, travelling to and from one of the dedicated vaccination centers available on the NCOC (National Command and Operation Center) website. Each ride will have a maximum cap of PKR 300 and this offer will be valid till September 3rd, 2021. Riders will receive a voucher code via their relevant Department of Education and will be able to redeem the discount on the app by claiming the voucher.

This initiative is a part of Uber’s global commitment to provide one million free rides to help fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Uber is a member of the Global Education Coalition and has previously worked with UNESCO to help students in various countries. With this collaboration, Uber and UNESCO aim to extend their partnership towards the betterment of the education sector in Pakistan that has been the hardest hit by the effects of Covid-19 and to remove transportation as a barrier to teachers’ access to vaccinations.

“Teachers are one of the most integral parts of this society and we at Uber would like to facilitate them with safely getting back to their classrooms. We are proud to partner with UNESCO to mobilize the teachers in Pakistan and encourage them to get vaccinated,” said Shahid Khan, the new Country Head at Uber Pakistan.

Talking about the partnership, Mr. Zafar Hayat Malik, Head of Education at UNESCO Pakistan commented, “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Uber to provide rides to teachers to access vaccinations as these become available; this will make a meaningful difference for many educators and school communities in Pakistan and help children get back to learning in classrooms as soon as possible.”

Uber and UNESCO’s partnership is a part of Uber’s global #MoveWhatMatters campaign under which Uber has partnered with various organizations over the past year around the world, to provide free and discounted rides to frontline workers, healthcare officials, and introduce delivery mechanisms for medicines and groceries as well.

Man-made issues do not just include global warming. A number of wildlife species are becoming extinct. It is either because we have been hunting them or because we hijacked their habitat and they just faded away. MasterCard has taken the initiative to remind people about this wildlife extinction.

MasterCard got into partnership with Conservation International. As part of this partnership, the brand will roll out Impact Gift cards. These cards allow users to donate for wildlife preservation. The best part about these cards that urges you to donate is the visuals. On the card, you will find the picture of the dying specie and the expiry date of the card is when that certain specie is expected to go extinct. The ad campaign was curated by McCann.

Talk about bringing a somber tone!

By doing this donation drive, Conservation International will be preserving habitat that is home to numerous critically endangered species.

Through this campaign, the brand is taking on the issue of habitat loss. They want to bring people’s attention to this matter alongside actively saving the habitat. This work just might be able to save some of the 1 million animal and plant species about to become extinct. As a result, at least some of the biodiversity may remain intact.

For now, the species they are addressing through this Wildlife Impact Card program are Sunda Pangolin, African Forest Elephant, Peruvian Yellow-Tailed Woolly Monkey, and the Black-and-White Ruffed Lemur.

Located just one block away from their biggest rival Apple Inc’s own retail store, the Art Deco building now houses Google’s New York headquarters.

Illuminated “discovery boxes” in the windows attract the passersby using advanced level augmented reality technology.

On the interview with HBO, he said that if women wear few clothes, there will be an impact on men. Well, that is understandable because if good looking men wear revealing and fitted clothes, women will also be attracted to them. But then the PM went on and said the problematic statement. When the interviewer asked that does the PM think that the dresses of women lead to sexual violence (aka rape), he replies that it depends on the socity. The statement implied that in our society it does.

People react to the PM

People were horrified and disappointed at this statement. Bloggers, celebrities, famous people in general made sure to express their emotions in hopes that at least the masses will not form the opinion same as the Prime minister.

Everyone said that it is an individual’s capability, having control. yes, they may have feelings for the other gender, but they do have the ability of control; it is not like they are born without it.

Obi aka Osman Khalid Butt explained it well. He said attraction, desire, temptation is normal because yes, men are not robots. However, rape is not about emotions, it is about power, dominance, and lack ofempathy.

Hyundai has been making quite an impact on the automobile market. They are on their way to becoming one of the highest brands in Pakistan. Additionally, their vehicle releases are quite impressive and capable. Now, the new Hyundai Sonata details have been revealed. It is one of the most anticipated cars of the year.

Hyundai has made it a point to make impressive entries. When we weren’t expecting it, they released the Tucson. It is an SUV that holds quite a lot of weight in the automobile industry. The vehicle itself has a powerful engine as well as enough sitting space to fit the whole family.

Sonata And Its Specs

Now, this vehicle may be underrated in the region. It is certainly one that deserves recognition in Pakistan. When it finally does hit the road, we expect it to attract a huge crowd. The Sonata is expected to have two variants in Pakistan. While the exact details are not here, we do have an overview of them. The first one is said to be a 2.0 Litre petrol engine variant. The second is expected to be an engine with a 2.5-litre capacity. Both of them have automatic transmissions.

The former has a 6-speed automatic transmission while the latter is 8-speed automatic. This vehicle is sure to give hard competition to vehicles like Audi A4, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord etc. Sonata is an executive-styled vehicle and it even gives off 007 vibes. The grille at the front might just remind one of the Aston Martin DB9.

Many features are expected to be in the Sonata that is released in Pakistan. These start from airbags, push start, front and rear parking sensors, ABS, and EBD. The features don’t end here! The car even has cruise control, lane keep assist, hill start assist, and dual-LED projection headlights. All of this, combined, make for quite a monster of a car.

We are aware that people may start to rush showrooms in hopes of getting this vehicle. Hyundai is certainly going a huge distance with the Sonata. It has also been reported that the vehicle will be locally assembled in Pakistan. This means that the price of it is expected to be lower than an import one. However, we can expect it to be slightly high because of the executive class. The vehicle belongs right up there with other premium ones.

Sonata is considered a mid-size sedan and it has immense potential. Vehicles like Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are quite expensive to buy. They also carry a ‘Luxury tax’ on them. However, the Sonata price is expected to be between Rs.7 million to Rs.9 million. This doesn’t mean that the price is solid, it can still vary beyond this range. However, you should be prepared to face this kind of bargain.

Let us hope the Sonata does well once it hits the market. We want to see more and more types of cars in Pakistan and this is a good step.

Karsaz Churail is the infamous churail of Karachi. It haunted people’s minds for the longest time possible. Even now, if the topic comes up, either people want to reminisce the original story or hear other people’s accounts of it.

In recent events, we also heard that the churail may just have shifted to Malir Cantt.

Karsaz Churail or something else?

But all jokes aside, Karsaz Churail would make people tremble if they had to go from Karsaz road at night in the past. Now, she is taken more in the context of a joke or to refer to any unnatural and mysterious appearance.

Anyway, in our search for mysterious events, we decided to approach people and hear the events that were pure horror. One of our source, reveals such an event although she herself is unsure what happened with her.

Let’s see what happened:

The lady shares that she was sleeping in her room with her lights on as she gets scared. The rest of the house is always drowned in darkness the entire night.

At one point, she feels that there is someone in the room so she woke up and she saw someone hovering over her. For some reason, she thought it was her mother reciting tasbih because she was not saying anything. The person indicated for her to follow. Our source thought that the mother was telling her to offer prayers so she immediately got up to follow.

The person exited the room and into the corridor; darkness enveloping her.

The moment our source reached the corridor, she stopped because even with her sleepy head she was alerted. The house was still in darkness. And she knew that the first thing her mom does at fajr time is switching on every light in the corridor and the living room.

Rooted at the doorway, she feebly called out, ‘Ammi?’

Where did you think the answer came from?

She was expecting an answer from the end of the corridor where she had seen the person disappearing. To her horror, she heard her mom yawning and waking up from the room on her right.

For some reason, still from her doorway, she asks, ‘Ammi, fajr parh li?’ (Have you offered fajr?)

The response she got was, ‘3 baje konsi namaz hoti hai?’ (What prayers is at 3am?)

She just turned around and went inside her room while reciting all the surahs she knew. But all she could think about was, who did she just saw? Where was the entity taking her? And what would have happened had she followed it into the darkness?

Apple’s efforts of promoting the Mac through “Behind the Mac” ads can only convince us to a certain extent. However, we can not believe the unbelievable which is that Macs have a longer lifespan than a PC. This gadget, like many of Apple’s Mac editions, is in desperate need of a refresh.

2. iMac PRO

What you must know about the iMac Pro is that it was once a powerhouse. It is still powerful, useful and shiny and posh. However, it’s hard to justify a price tag starting at $5,000 for something as outdated as this!.

Even Apple at Silicon Valley knows there’s a timeline for each product. This one has outlived its own. 

3. APPLE TV FIFTH-GEN

This gadget is also a hard pass. Apple’s 5th-generation Apple TV is built around the A10X Fusion processor which is its attraction. It also comes with a choice of 32GB or 64GB of storage and was last updated over a year ago.

Again, a great product, however, the starting price tag of $179 is unreasonable. This was first released in October 2015.

4. IPAD MINI

The iPad is currently living its forgotten glory. Its demand hasn’t been updated or been supportive for two years now. People are rarely looking for a small iPad. The iPad Mini gadget is only a good choice if you want a small tablet with Apple Pencil support.

This is the last of the iPods! The iPod touch is also coming to the two-year-old mark and while that is not very old, it is not worth investing in. However, it demands a $199 to $399 price tag mainly to maintain the legacy of the product.

 1. What Can Cause A Broken heart 

Since it is a medical condition, it is not caused by heartbreak. However, extreme anxiety and physical stress can trigger the condition. There are several behind the actual cause of this condition. A Pakistani businesswoman has made her mark on Forbes’ 1000 list and we couldn’t be more elated!

What is the Forbes’ 1000 list?

Forbes is known for their remarkable lists that scour prominent, trailblazing and accomplished individuals around the world. This particular list is special because it is based upon the public’s nominations. It is decided upon by the top business minds and entrepreneurial superstars from across the globe. 

These new faces, nominated and shortlisted, will number 1,000 by the end of the year. Every year, Forbes’ lists continue to recognise people with potential and their achievements. Scoring a spot on these lists is huge because it connects you with the most exclusive names in the entrepreneurial world.

This Year’s Pakistani Nomination

This year Fobes’ focus was on the pandemic-inflicted change on the market. Forbes set out to highlight the small startups with under $10 million in revenue or funding. However, to be noticed, one must showcase a drive and enthusiasm that is distinct.

In all of this, a Pakistani entrepreneur by the name Mariam Nusrat got noticed. Mariam Nusrat’s startup is in its initial stages however, its impact is anything but small. The founder and the venture are both making waves at an international level. 

What Does Mariam Nusrat Lead?

Mariam Nusrat is the sole founder of GRID (Gaming Revolution for International Development). She is a current resident of Virginia, United States and holds a master’s degree in Economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Her journey is making waves internationally as she has also been covered by George Washington University in the United States.

Her startup has been leading an interdisciplinary team of Pakistan-based game developers and designers for the last six years. GRID basically aims to solve major world problems by creating games that stimulate positive behavioural changes. So far, the team has created eight portfolio games that can be played in five different languages. These games have audiences in 18 different counties with about 15 thousand downloads.

What Is The Philosophy?

Mariam, the founder, believes that behavioural change can be controlled. It “cannot be born, contextual realities cannot be ignored, and innovation cannot wait [until] tomorrow.”

As a result, GRID also kills two birds with one stone. They also cover 60% of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The games cover a variety of topics, including reproductive health, climate change, health pandemics, animal welfare, STEM learning, and structural racism.

Besides this, Mariam is also working on another initiative called Breshna. It is expected to be launched on July 16. This project will allow people to create games without writing a single line of code.

The upcoming web series, Dhoop Ki Deewar, featuring the star couple Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly were trending for a while after the trailer was launched. At first, people were liking the acting by the stars but then when they focused on the storyline, Twitter erupted with backlash.

Mostly, the idea about the ban was a direct result of the ever-deteriorating Indo-Pak relations. But for some people, it was also about Kashmir. They said that the atrocities by India in Kashmir are continuing; we are not holding them accountable, instead, we are telling a story that is highlighting India as a victim.

Twitter Trends with #BanDhoopKiDeewar

Social media was loaded with the hashtag BanDhoopKiDeewar. Netizens could not digest the trailer of the web series because they felt that it would deem their patriotism invalid. Hence, be it the actors, writers, or directors, everyone was openly being shamed.Of course, one can say that this was just the trailer and that the show features kids of both Indian and Pakistan army mourning for their fathers. But the fact, that it shows the Pakistani girl more fierce, and the Indian boy more traumatized gives the vibe that India is suffering more.

 

 

We haven’t yet seen the web series so we do not know what the story is. Since the Zee5 channel is an India property, maybe just maybe the story is Pro India. But the problem is that seventy four years, there has always been hatred between the two nations.

Soldiers suffer the most

Whenever there is a conflict on state level, there is a direct effect on the borders. Whether we suffer or not, the soldiers from both sides suffer losses. And the families of the soldiers have to go through even worse; having to lose their loved ones. It is a story about that. It is a story about losses on both sides. Because the truth is; the conflict between India and Pakistan, does take lives of soldiers more than anyone else.

If we start preaching love instead of hatred, maybe we won’t lose as many soldiers as we do fighting on the Indo-Pak border or fighting for Kashmir. But does standing for love makes it alright to compromise on your patriotism? This question requires some brainstorming.
