Everything comes at a price. And, when it’s the bare minimum of Rs.50, it’s a bargain. Many brands charge an average amount of Rs.50 for these bags at the time of checkout. Paper is very resource-heavy to produce. Manufacturing a paper bag takes about four times as much energy as it takes to produce a plastic bag. This means higher production costs for the company. Almost every brand has profit maximization as one of its aims. So, if they try to cut costs, it might just be fair enough.

Although, not everyone may agree with this point of view but on the brighter side, this can be thought of as a little gift from the brand to its brand-conscious customers. Along with being earth friendly, sustainable, and a fan-favorite brand, companies introducing paper bags is a really good initiative.

YouTube Announces Good News For ‘Shorts Creators’

YouTube is rolling out a new program for YouTube content creators. With this program, users can generate revenue with the help of YouTube shorts and can monetize their channels. The Partner Program which is released ahead of February 1st is an agreement that the creators must sign to begin earning ad share revenue on their Shorts views.

‘YouTube Shorts’ Monetized

The company is releasing ‘Monetization Modules’ as a part of its partner program. These modules will provide creators more flexibility as they earn money on YouTube. YouTube suggests that the users must accept all of them so that they can utilize the full earning potential of the platform. The Partner Program which is starting on February 1st must be signed and accepted by creators by July 10th.

Partner Program Modules

Module 1 – Watch Page Monetization Module. The first module allows creators to earn money from ads. These ads are run on the creators’ long-form videos and YouTube Premium.

Module 2 – Shorts Monetization Module. The second module can let content creators earn money from ads that play between Shorts in the Shorts Feed and YouTube Premium.

Module 3 – Commerce Product Addendum. This feature is basically for Channel Memberships and Superstars.

Creators who are eligible to apply for the program must have at least 1,000 subscribers and more than 10 million views on Shorts over 90 days. If they fit the following criteria then they can start with the Shorts Monetization Module.

Creators Funds

According to YouTube, the money generated by the ads will go towards paying music licensing companies and creators. There is a shared pool where the funds will be collected and calculated at the end of each month. The amount of money going to the creator pool will depend on the number of musical tracks creators feature in their Shorts. A clip with no music will divert the revenue associated with that video toward the creator pool. Meanwhile, for a Short with a single song, about one-third of the related revenue will go toward paying for licensing. In a Short with two songs, two-thirds will go toward licensing.

The funds will then be distributed based on the creators’ video views. If a creator gets 5% eligible views out of all Shorts uploaded by monetizing creators, they will then be allocated 5% of the revenue in the creator pool. Creators will keep 45% of their allocated Shorts revenue and the YouTube will get a 55 percent revenue cut.

Although, some fans felt very wholesome after seeing the pictures. On the other hand, the picture received very serious hate.

Comments like these were seen under the couple’s post. People criticized them for being too “vulgar” and not keeping their romantic life “private” enough. Other fans trolled them for being unfaithful to their religious morals.

But can one’s religious morals be questioned by what they upload on social media? Apparently, yes. Fans seem to judge the young husband and wife’s “Islam” after such intimate photos. PDA has always been taboo in the Pakistani TV industry. We have seen similar reactions under other celebrity couples photos. Such as when Yasir Hussain and Iqra Aziz posted their honeymoon pictures in Thailand. Simultaneously, Sarwat Gillani and Fahad Mirza, and even Saboor Aly and Ali Ansari.

So, it has been time and again, when the internet trolls have done their job to their max. However, Minal and Ahsan are not new to this backlash. This isn’t the first time the newly married couple has posted such intimate pictures online for the world to see. At the beginning of their love life, they posted pictures and videos of their proposal and got backlash.

After their engagement photos, they started a streak of such pictures. Every now and then they would upload “cute” or “indecent” photos. The fans would also then react accordingly.

The discovery of the ozone layer was made in 1913 by French scientists. A gaping hole in the layer was discovered by scientists in 1985 but the ozone layer had actually begun depleting way before that in the 1970s.

What Is The Ozone Layer?

The ozone layer is a region of Earth’s stratosphere that absorbs most of the Sun’s ultraviolet radiation. It contains a high concentration of ozone. Unfortunately, the gradual depletion of the ozone layer has been occurring since the 80s. Gradual depletion means the thinning of the ozone layer to the point that a hole is created. Chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs are the main cause of this. These are released by solvents, spray aerosols, refrigerators, air-conditioners, etc.

How Have We Contributed?

Human activities involve such substances found in refrigerators and air conditioning equipment and in fire extinguishers. Others include aerosol propellants, solvents, and blowing agents for insulation foams. Activities that release pollutants into the atmosphere alter it. Global warming is caused primarily by putting too much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere when coal, oil, and natural gas are burned to generate electricity or to run our cars which eventually leads to carbon dioxide spreading around the planet like a blanket. This is the main gas responsible for the absorption of infrared radiation (felt as heat).

The Hole

The hole lies above Antarctica. The pictures above show the difference in the size of the hole. The first picture is from 2022 and the second is from 2023 after recent research from scientists. Scientists from NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), reported that the hole in the ozone layer is continuing to shrink. “Over time, steady progress is being made, and the hole is getting smaller. We see some wavering as weather changes and other factors make the numbers wiggle slightly from day to day and week to week. But overall, we see it decreasing through the past two decades.” said Paul Newman, chief scientist for Earth sciences at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.

Is The Earth Finally Safe?

No one can say with full certainty whether the Earth is finally completely safe or not. But, there is some good news. Scientists have been closely monitoring the hole with new 3D imaging technology. They say it could heal by 2070 thanks to massive global help especially the Montreal Protocol signed in 1987. CFC’s have also been banned in around 200 countries. The hole has been closing by 3% every decade reportedly. This is a significant improvement on the path to recovery.

The public has always spoken their mind freely on social media, but maybe they do not realize what a toll on one’s mental health their comments can take. Judging one’s morals like character and faith by their fashion preferences has been talked about by female celebrities many times. Some have also pleaded their fans to be “kinder” when commenting. But no improvement in trolling has led many of the stars to limit commenting access under their posts.

Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s biggest real estate enterprise Zameen.com, along with Premier Choice International laid the foundation stone of Grand Orchard in Rawalpindi. The Groundbreaking ceremony was held at DHA Phase 1, which was inaugurated by Brigadier Muhammad Jawad Administrator DHA Islamabad/Rawalpindi. He was accompanied by Brigadier Nazir Hussain Khan Retd Secretary DHAI-R, Mohsin Aziz Khawaja Director Marketing DHAI-R and CFO DHA Pervaiz Usman. Zameen.com was represented by Assistant Director Acquisitions Mohsin Gulzar and Head of Acquisitions Adeel Nasir. Premier Choice International’s CEO Amran Zia and Mahad Imran along with other senior officials of the organization were also among the attendees.

Alibaba.com Announces Its First Multan Seller Summit

Eat Food Festival Or “Fiasco” Festival?

Every year, the people of Karachi look forward to the biggest food festival of the year. Eat’23 took place in Karachi Beach View Park on 6th, 7th and 8th January 2023. People from all over the country came to the festival to have a good time; setting a new record for the highest people turnover at Eat in the last 10 years.

The festival was supposed to be safe and secure along with being fun for everyone. However, things took a bitter turn. With the entrance fee being only Rs.600, the first day, thousands of people showed up. Security was extremely alert at the entrance and exit. The management made sure the “no stags allowed” rule was strictly followed. But, unfortunately, once the visitors had entered the premises, there was no security to maintain control. The first and second day went smoothly, but the third day of Eat has caused an uproar on social media because of the incidents that took place.

Because the number of people increased unexpectedly, the “stags” were somehow able to get inside. They broke the gates and forcefully barged in when stopped by the bouncers. After that, women at the event were treated inappropriately by the men that entered by force which later led to brawls between them and the men with families.

The situation escalated quickly with all sorts of people entering forcefully. Families and groups had no other choice but to escape the park as soon as they could. The management of Eat took immediate action and cancelled all performances there and then. They got the live artists and people to safety as fast as they could.

Who Is To Really Blame?

Soon, the management of Eat started to get extreme backlash from netizens. But is the management of Eat the only ones to be blamed? Pakistan as a nation has time and again shown that maybe they do not “deserve” such events. Previously, such incidents have occurred at other events like concerts of Talha Anjum, Natasha Baig, Atif Aslam and many other artists. Despite the security being extremely well trained and well equipped, the crowd present has misbehaved. So, cases like these make one adamant to believe that maybe there are groups of individuals that will always show a lack of decency and common sense when attending such events no matter the management.

Response From The Eat Management

Even after getting immense hate from the public, the management of Eat came out with an apology. Here is what Omar Omari, CEO Eat Food Pakistan had to say,

“The Eat Festival came to life 10 years ago with the aim of bringing diverse good food, the citizens of Karachi and music all together under one roof. Over the years, we have taken the brand to Lahore and Islamabad with the same aim in mind. Despite our most stringent efforts, the closing day of our 10th Eat Festival saw unruly crowd behavior and some very unfortunate and sad incidents occurred. This vengeful disregard for rules and regulations gave rise to events that caused much discomfort to innocent people as gate crashers ran amuck. The crowd at the venue on Sunday was less in absolute numbers than on Saturday but because there were no unruly gate crashers, the first two days ended on a civilized note. Regardless, we are collecting the data and conducting a deeper investigation into the
matter of surveillance, breach of boundary walls and the need to up the restrictions of what is brought into the arena. Our thoughts and sincere apologies for all who were affected by the unruly crowd and the innocent people who were caught in the crossfire.”

This time it’s the “moisture sandwich” trend. After “slugging” and “skin cycling”, this new trend is helping people achieve the glass skin look. Skincare trends like these are heavily inspired by Korean beauty standards where women have crystal clear, poreless, translucent, and luminous skin that imitates a glass-like look because of all the shine.

The moisture sandwich trend basically requires one to layer all their skin care products one after the other. The process of applying products on top of damp skin ensures your skin stays hydrated. It is seen that this trend works best for people with dry skin, especially in the winter season. Influencers have also been promoting their skincare routine while showing how to the moisture sandwich routine.

How It Is Actually Done

According to dermatologists and beauty influencers, this is how it is supposed to be done :

After washing your face, dry just enough to leave the skin a little damp.
Follow up with a hydrating toner, essence, or mist and let it sit so it penetrates deep intp the skin.
Next, begin applying your lighter serum, continuing to spray a hydrating mist between each step until you reach your final product. So basically, the order is mist, serum, mist, the next serum and then finally moisturizer.
An optional step is to seal all the products with a thick barrier of Vaseline or any balm, though this is not recommended for those with acne-prone or oily skin types.

Why It May Not Be Suitable For Everyone

This trend is seemingly doing well for everyone on TikTok however, dermatologists have reacted and said that this may not be the best skin care hack for every skin type. They caution against this if you have acne-prone skin or tend to sweat a lot. The nightly application of a thicker ointment can be too occlusive and cause breakouts when excess sweat or oils get trapped. It’s also important to pay attention to how this feels against your skin. If you don’t like the feel or consistency of a thicker ointment, it may not be the best option.

Anyhow, like other viral skincare trends, this has also taken over TikTok overnight. And we don’t think that influencers are getting over this anytime soon.

Over the weekend, videos of the viral girl Ayesha Mano started circulating on social media. The video showed a girl dancing and the whole attire and the moves turned out to be quite offensive. The whole situation got out of hand as netizens started sharing their views and comments on the posts. The clip triggered the moral brigade who took to social media to slam the girl for dancing inappropriately.

Ayesh, however, soon took notice and cleared the air deeming the video fake. She also notified that she plans to take legal action via FIA against those who are involved in spreading fake videos over social media.

“People who are trying to edit my videos for fake views, you will all be going to get reported to FIA cybercrime for this. My management is taking legal action against you all. Whoever is doing this, you are trying to defame me. I’ll stay who I’m and your videos are not helping much!”

Samsung has officially announced the launch date for the Galaxy S23 series following a number of leaks and rumors.
