It is said to be triggered by a “frequency variation” in the national grid. The power outage has led Pakistani people to get ready and start the day in the dark. But their light humor has really turned the day around. As soon as people lost access to energy in their homes they turned to Twitter to show off their witty and clever humor by making memes and jokes. After the eighth edition’s schedule was released on Friday, the countdown to Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) premier event, the Pakistan Super League 2023, officially started today.

The major competition will take place in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan between February 13 and March 19, 2023.

When Lahore Qalandars play Multan Sultans on February 13 in the PSL 8 opener at the Multan Cricket Stadium, they will have the chance to make history.

PSL 8 2023

The PSL 8 will be divided into two legs, with matches taking place at Multan Cricket Stadium and National Bank Cricket Arena from February 13 to February 26 and then at Gaddafi Stadium and Pindi Cricket Stadium from February 26 to March 19.

The qualifying, two elimination rounds, and the championship game will all take place from March 15–19 at the Pakistan Cricket Ground.

Three demonstration games will be played prior to the men’s matches on March 8, 10, and 11 in Rawalpindi, which will serve as the soft start for the Pakistan Women’s League.

In Pakistan, problems regarding basic necessities have become a norm. People have become used to going on and about their lives while dealing with shortages of water, electricity, and now even gas. For the past 6 months, Pakistanis have been suffering through extreme gas shortages. Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) recently announced that it would lessen the hours of gas being provided in households. According to the announcement, people would get gas thrice a day during meal times, meaning people have to live without gas for the remaining 16 hours.

However, currently, SSGC has been contradicting its own statement. In Pakistan, complaints are being received from all over the country about low gas pressures and in some places no gas at all. From Gulshan, Jauhar, and Nazimabad to areas like DHA and Badin, in Karachi, gas has been a trouble for everyone. People from Islamabad, and Lahore and other cities have been reporting it all over the internet. Here have a look.

As a result, people have started buying gas cylinders. But with poverty on the rise, this isn’t as easy and affordable as it sounds. Refilling of a 3kg cylinder now costs Rs600, a medium-sized 6kg cylinder double that, and a tall 45kg cylinder, Rs9,000. An empty new big cylinder costs Rs16,000 to 17,000 now. This is not very pocket-friendly especially when Pakistan’s majority of the population is working middle class.

How it’s affecting daily lives

Many mothers have complained that their children leave for school without breakfast because of no gas. Similarly, restaurant and cafe owners also complain saying that not only is this a loss for the business, but they have people coming to them for dinner because they are not able to cook at home but they also have no other option but to refuse the customers. Many people have gas geysers that also turn off because of no gas which deprives them of hot water in the winter as well.

It is safe to say that all Pakistanis are extremely frustrated because of this never-ending gas crisis. They are even more annoyed at the fact that no one pays any heed to their cries for help. When will things improve?

Mubadala Energy, OMV And PARCO Collaborate To Explore Opportunities In Sustainable Fuels

Baba Vanga rose to fame during the dark days of the Second World War. Right through to her death in 1996, she was renowned for her apparent ability to foretell the future. Comparisons were made with Nostradamus and many devotees also believed she had predicted 9/11 and even the rise of Donald Trump.

Her full name was Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova, commonly known as Baba Vanga. She was a Bulgarian mystic and herbalist and was blind since early childhood. Many people, like Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev, sought her guidance. However, making sense of her talents is tricky, since many of the predictions attributed to her are based on second-hand accounts that are difficult to verify.

Baba Vanga had made previous predictions that have seemed to come true. Here are two of them that came true.

1. 2022 droughts and floods

Baba Vanga made a total of six predictions for 2022. Two of them have already come true. She predicted that large cities around the world would be hit by significant droughts and water shortages. The UK has just experienced the driest July since 1935 and the government officially declared a drought on 12th August 2022. Other countries in Europe are also seeing similar issues as parts of France, Italy, Portugal, and more are facing record-breaking droughts and devastating wildfires.

Baba Vanga also predicted that Australia and Asia would be rocked by severe floods. In July, eight months of rain fell in Sydney in just four days which lead to flooding for the third time in 2022. Meanwhile, Japan’s official weather agency has warned of flooding in Tokyo and the surrounding areas as the country battles a major tropical storm. Pakistan has also faced the worst monsoon flood in over a decade. Although her vision of a deadly virus in Siberia kickstarting another pandemic hasn’t come true yet.

2. 9/11

One of the most widely cited predictions relates to the terrorist attacks of September 11. ‘Horror, horror!’ she reportedly said in 1989. ‘The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush, and innocent blood will be gushing. The ‘steel birds’ refer to the hijacked planes, while the ‘American brethren” are the Twin Towers. It’s also striking that she uses the word ‘bush’. This may be interpreted as a reference to then-President George W. Bush, who would lead the ‘wolves’ of American military might in the retaliatory War on Terror.

Although her vision of a deadly virus in Siberia kickstarting another pandemic and World War Three commencing in 2010 has fortunately not come true.

Future Predictions For 2023

1. A Devastating Solar Storm

One of the most alarming 2023 predictions attributed to Baba Vanga concerns a solar storm which could have calamitous consequences. The term ‘solar storm’ can refer to several phenomena on the sun’s surface, including solar flares and coronal mass ejections.

2. A Change In Earth’s Orbit

This is a particularly fascinating 2023 prophecy and one which would have ramifications for us all. There might be soaring temperatures and radiation levels, with terrible environmental consequences.

3. A Bioweapon Atrocity

It’s also been said that Baba Vanga had a vision of bioweapons tests being carried out by a big country in 2023. It also seems relevant to the current, heated geopolitical context. This is definitely one of the more disturbing predictions. However, the nation where it might occur hasn’t been figured out yet.

There is not much information on any of these predictions, since, Vanga’s predictions have never been literal and decoding is needed. But hopefully, none of them will come true.

Is Google Catching Up With Apple By Making Its Own AirTags?

Android is finally catching up with Apple. Google is allegedly developing a rival to Apple’s AirTags, a first-party location-tracking device that can be attached to things to help you find them in case they ever go missing, according to developer and Android leaker Kuba Wojciechowski. This fall, the project, code-named “Grogu” (after the well-known character from The Mandalorian), may be introduced with new Pixel phones.

According to Wojciechowski, the tracker is presently being developed by the Google Nest team under the codename “Grogu” (the name of the newborn Yoda character from the Star Wars television series The Mandalorian), as well as the alternative names “GR10” and “Groguaudio.” This does not imply that it will be sold under the Nest name, but Wojciechowski speculates that the tracker may come in a variety of colors and have an inside speaker to enable users to locate a lost device by sound, much like an Apple AirTag.

How does it work

Wojciechowski discovered references to locating tags in Fast Pair, a feature of Google’s Android software that makes it simple to quickly pair items like wireless earphones with Android smartphones, and he reported all of this. In Pakistan, the main focus of education is the quantity and how much a student can retain for how long – a term commonly known as ‘Ratta’ – defined as nothing more than a rat race where your measure of education is not defined by technical and practical skills but by how much paper you can fill in an exam.

Meanwhile, the international education standard drives mainly on skills. The eagerness to learn more than what is just written in the books as well as making use of interactive and problem-solving skills also allows students to look at things from a whole new perspective. Something which is not accessible if the education is primarily sustained from textbooks.

Career counseling is another loophole in the Pakistani education system. Lack of career counseling among students has led to saturation in various fields while some of the fields are left unexplored because not enough value is given to these sectors. Sharmeen also posted another story saying this.

Other celebrities were of similar opinions and they also posted on Instagram about their decision. Aiman and Minal, both shared the same posts.

Minal’s husband also showed his support for the victim celebrities.

Other celebrities like Asim are still quiet but fans certainly aren’t quiet. Many are saying that these celebrities deserve this because they meddled in Feroze’s personal life. They have been calling it “karma”

IB Collaborates With University Of The People To Award M.Ed. Scholarships

The International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) is announcing the next application cycle for tuition-free scholarships in partnership with the University of the People for educators to complete an online Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree. With the launch of these fully-funded scholarships, the IB aims to eliminate the accessibility barriers to quality education and fill the global need for more than 69 million teaching positions by 2030 as estimated by UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) to meet United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4).

University Of People 

Tuition-free, non-profit, and entirely online, UoPeople is an American university that offers students in 194 nations access to approved undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
The IB has awarded 196 scholarships since the beginning of the program in 2019 to provide teachers with greater access to advanced degrees in education. So far, eight scholarships are awarded to educators in Pakistan which signify a concerted effort and dedication to addressing the global lack of quality educators, it guarantees that more students have access to a top-notch education in turn. A recipient of the scholarship Principal Ilmesters Miss Neesha Feroz, said: “Education has given me the tools I need to implement to improve the teaching strategy used by my team. The curriculum at UoP is in line with contemporary teaching, and the knowledge I have gained is quite useful in my everyday life.”
