Investors looking to rely on corporate sustainability information are driving unprecedented demand for assurance in this developing field in Lahore on March 29, 2023.
For the international accounting profession, this offers both a challenge and an opportunity. As a result, the profession is working to establish the guidelines by which assurance engagements should be conducted and who is most competent to complete the task.
The accountancy profession, along with others conducting assurance tasks, is well-positioned to meet this demand by utilizing the core assurance skills acquired through the experience of auditing financial statements.
The report Sustainability Assurance – Rising to the Challenge by ACCA presents the current standard and guidelines published by the International Auditing and Assurance Board and describes the environment for sustainability assurance. (IAASB).
The main problems that practitioners who perform this assurance work must deal with are outlined in Sustainability Assurance – Rising to the Challenge.
Seven key messages are outlined in ACCA’s research, which is supported by data collected from a series of virtual global roundtables with assurance practitioners and other representatives involved with audit and assurance policy-related issues and conducted in 2022 and 2023.
The ACCA emphasizes the significance of international and national standard setters clarifying what “limited assurance” and “reasonable assurance” mean, as well as the main distinctions between the two, in order to prevent a new “sustainability assurance expectation gap.”
When creating reporting and assurance standards, standard-setters should take the possibility of deceptive reporting, or “greenwashing,” into account.
The IAASB should place a high priority on developing a concept to deal with estimates because a lot of sustainability reporting and assurance work is frequently dependent on speculative scenarios.
There may be a need for additional standards and guidelines on how to rely on the work of subject matter experts (SMEs) given the unprecedented reliance on them for sustainability assurance activities.
Standard-setters and policy-makers should prioritize the assurance report, the final product, especially when dealing with small or reasonable differences.
Performance of sustainability assurance tasks requires the use of assurance skills gained through audit experience.
For those planning to conduct sustainability assurance activities before the IAASB’s comprehensive standard is finalized, ISAE 3000 (Revised) and the Sustainability/EER guidance offer a solid foundation.
Report co-author, Marianna Rogdaki, Audit & Ethics Lead, ACCA says: ‘ACCA recognizes that it can be a real challenge for practitioners new to this area to come to grips with both the risks and the opportunities of taking on sustainability assurance engagements. This report aims to raise awareness of the current landscape as a good starting point for practitioners to get involved.’
She adds: ‘It is clear that the demand for sustainability information is now higher than ever, with regulators across the globe considering mandatory reporting and assurance requirements.
Most notably in the European Union, the European Commission has replaced the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) introducing mandatory requirements for more entities, alongside requirements for assurance over the published information.
Report co-author, Antonis Diolas, Head of Audit and Assurance, Policy & Insights, ACCA, says: ‘In our roundtable, the importance of professional skepticism was noted. Given the immaturity of sustainability reporting, professional skepticism is even more important where subjective statement often forms part of sustainability reports and are not backed up with sufficient appropriate evidence.’
The International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), and the IAASB are all praised in the report for their prompt responses to the call for global sustainability reporting, assurance, and ethical standards, which decreased the risk of fragmentation.

Penn Badgley from ‘You’ is doing rounds on social media and not for the reason you might anticipate. Joe Goldberg shared a clip from his latest editorial shoot for GQ magazine wishing Ramadan to his Muslim fans.
Joe Goldberg Wishes ‘You’ Ramadan
A Twitter user pointed out a picture from his latest shoot. Where the actor is seen wearing a long Arabic-style gown. He shared the image with a caption saying, “I thought man converted to Islam for a second. Happy Ramadan brother.”
One of my favorite takes. (You’re not too far off, I just finished fasting as a Bahá’í for our month of ‘Alá) Happy Fasting this Ramadan fam https://t.co/ofh28WrAo8
Penn Badgley was quick to take notice of the fan’s tweet which he shared on his handle responding to the fan saying that he recently fasted for Alá.
“One of my favorites takes. (You’re not too far off, I just finished fasting as a Bahá’í for our month of ‘Alá) Happy Fasting this Ramadan fam.”
So, no Penn Badgley hasn’t converted to Islam but he certainly was fasting but not for Ramadan.
What Is Fasting For Alá?
Alá is the nineteenth month in the Badi calendar (the calendar used in the Baháʼí Faith is a solar calendar consisting of nineteen months and four or five intercalary days, with the new year at the moment of the Northern spring equinox).
For Bahá’ís, fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset during the Bahá’í month of ‘Ala’ (Loftiness), between March 1st/2nd through March 19th/20th, which immediately precedes the Bahá’í New Year. It is a time of prayer, meditation, and spiritual rejuvenation.
The new era of Pepsi is here as the brand gets a major makeover and redesign of its logo in years. The latest logo change has been done as the company wants to draw attention to Pepsi’s zero sugar line.
Pepsi’s Makeover For Zero Sugar
One of the reasons behind the change includes the fact that many people couldn’t quite recall the actual Pepsi logo but had an idea that it included a variant of the red, blue, and white colors and the Pepsi text somewhere on or in the circle, according to Pepsi marketing officials. The makeover is an attempt to bring about the classic essence of Pepsi in a way that can relate to the newer generation.
🚨 Welcome to a new era of Pepsi!🚨
Couldn’t be more proud to share our new Pepsi logo and visual identity that we will be rolling out in the US this fall! pic.twitter.com/OC80a6PyDd
“We couldn’t ignore that kind of insight. Instead of rejecting it, we decided to embrace it.”
“The ‘Pepsi’ in the logo is ‘decoupled from the globe'” noted Pepsi’s Chief Marketing Officer Todd Kaplan. Adding “It’s this lowercase, italicized font, the blue is a little bit muted. It doesn’t exude that confidence and energy that the brand represents.”
“A lot of people don’t even notice the black is there. It’s an intentional color we added in with [Pepsi] Zero Sugar, which will be the lead brand we use in marketing. [Black] can act as a master brand statement.”
“We designed the new brand identity to connect future generations with our brand’s heritage. Marrying distinction from our history with contemporary elements to signal our bold vision for what’s to come,” said Mauro Porcini, the chief design officer at PepsiCo.
“The new logo is more digital-friendly and “introduces movement and animation into the visual system. Meanwhile, unlocking more flexibility for Pepsi to move between physical and digital spaces, from retail shelves to the metaverse.”
Elon Musk stated on his social media platform that people who sign up for Twitter Blue, the Premium tier, will be able to take part in voting that is held on Twitter. Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and the richest man in the world, purchased Twitter for $44 billion last year and declared on the microblogging platform that he thought it was the only way to keep the sophisticated AI bots out and allow real accounts to participate. He added that users’ “For You” recommendations made by premium service customers will also be eligible to appear.
Based on user behavior and algorithms, the “For You” feed will recommend Tweets from accounts that are not followed that a user might like. “Starting April 15th, only verified accounts will be eligible to be in For You recommendations,” Musk said in a tweet on Monday night. “This is the only realistic way to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over. It is otherwise a hopeless losing battle.” He also wrote: “That said, it’s ok to have verified bot accounts if they follow terms of service and don’t impersonate a human.”
Starting April 15th, only verified accounts will be eligible to be in For You recommendations.
The is the only realistic way to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over. It is otherwise a hopeless losing battle.
Voting in polls will require verification for same reason.
Here are some of the benefits Twitter Blue provides:
Undo Tweets: With this function, you can take back a tweet within a set amount of time after you’ve posted it. This is helpful for folks who frequently post tweets hastily or incorrectly.
2. Reader Mode: Twitter Blue has a reader mode that makes it simpler to read lengthy messages by eliminating distractions.
3. Create Bookmark Folders: Twitter Blue can organize your saved tweets and make it simpler to discover them later.
4. App icon customization: To make your Twitter app unique, select one of a number of available app icons.
5. Dedicated customer support: A dedicated customer support team is available to Twitter Blue subscribers, so any problems or issues can be handled more promptly.
6. Exclusive content: Twitter Blue subscribers have access to handpicked content and early access to new features, among other unique materials.
A large number of Twitter users were offended by Musk’s announcement. One user stated he couldn’t support it and that Musk should spend money on hiring people and developing AI technology to identify bots on the network. “This isn’t how to proceed. That can damage the platform. My prediction is that this will be the only platform you can trust,” Elon Musk retorted.
I don't get behind this decision. You need to invest money into talent and AI tech to detect bots on the platform.
This isn't the way to go. It could tarnish the platform
“So basically if you can’t afford to pay for Twitter your voice cannot be amplified in the ‘Town Square?” someone else wrote. Another user asked how this prevents verified accounts (such as “notable figures”) that are imitating non-verified accounts from being even more visible. The blue tick was given to famous and well-known users once their validity was confirmed before Musk’s acquisition, but the rule was reviewed after the billionaire acquired control of the microblogging platform. Now, only those who fulfill the outlined qualifications would receive it. Before April 1, it’s possible that some people might lose their check marks.

In recent months, there has been an alarming increase in reports of hackers using ChatGPT to trick users into downloading malware onto their devices. As one of the most advanced language models in the world, ChatGPT has become a popular target for cybercriminals who want to exploit its capabilities and gain access to users’ sensitive information.
ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence language model developed by OpenAI. Its purpose is to generate natural language responses to user input in a conversational format. ChatGPT is trained on a massive dataset of text from the internet and is capable of understanding and processing natural language queries in a way that closely resembles human conversation.
Cybercrime through engaging conversions
However, this advanced AI technology has also become a prime target for cybercriminals looking to exploit its capabilities for malicious purposes. Hackers have discovered that by using ChatGPT, they can create convincing and engaging conversations that trick users into downloading malware.
One of the most common ways hackers are using ChatGPT to trick users is by posing as customer support representatives for popular software or service providers. They will create a chatbot that looks and sounds like a legitimate customer support agent and engage users in a conversation about an issue they are experiencing with their software or service.
Source: Spyware
During the conversation, the chatbot will encourage the user to download a file or click on a link to resolve the issue. However, the file or link will actually contain malware that will infect the user’s device and allow the hacker to gain access to their personal information, such as login credentials, financial information, or personal data.
Creating phishing scams
Another way hackers are using ChatGPT to trick users is by creating phishing scams. They will create a chatbot that looks and sounds like a legitimate representative of a well-known company, such as a bank or an online retailer. The chatbot will engage the user in a conversation about a supposed problem with their account or order, and will ask the user to provide personal information or click on a link to resolve the issue.
Once the user provides the information or clicks on the link, the hacker can use it to gain access to the user’s account or to infect their device with malware. In some cases, the hacker may even ask the user to transfer money to a fake account or provide sensitive information that can be used for identity theft.

How to avoid getting scammed
To protect yourself from these types of scams, it is important to be aware of the risks and to take steps to safeguard your information. Here are some tips to help you avoid falling victim to ChatGPT-based malware attacks:
Be cautious when interacting with chatbots. If you receive a message from a chatbot that seems suspicious or too good to be true, don’t engage with it.
Don’t download files or click on links from unknown sources. If you are not sure about the legitimacy of a file or link, don’t download or click on it.
Keep your antivirus software up-to-date. Make sure you have the latest version of your antivirus software installed and that it is set to automatically update.
Use strong passwords and enable two-factor authentication. Use strong, unique passwords for all of your accounts and enable two-factor authentication wherever possible.
Stay informed about the latest threats. Stay up-to-date on the latest malware threats and phishing scams by reading news articles and security blogs.
Hackers are increasingly using ChatGPT to trick users into downloading malware. By being aware of the risks and taking steps to protect your information, you can reduce your chances of falling victim to these types of scams. Stay vigilant and always be cautious when interacting with chatbots or downloading files from unknown sources.

Once her post went viral, internet users praised her accomplishments. Many people were impressed as they should be but on the other hand, many were also fazed at the fact that such young kids can be developing full apps even if they are at home. Many were of the opinion that this extreme freedom is not a good thing and can lead children to things like the dark web since they are still naive. However, many people are very impressed and think that is a good step forward in the right direction, especially in the fast world of technology.

That was actually quite funny! But it’s okay, don’t we all make mistakes?
Rauf gained investment from Lahore Qalandars, who then transferred him there as part of their player development initiative. After playing in the Big Bash League (BBL), he represented Pakistan in his first T20I match in 2020. Thereafter, along with Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris took on the role of Qalandars and served as the team’s bowling captain for Pakistan. He is currently Pakistan’s team’s top bowler. Fast bowler Naseem Shah was named the Balochistan Police’s Goodwill Ambassador in February of this year.
Shah was designated as the “Honorary DSP” of the police by the Balochistan police. A ceremony was organized at the IG Balochistan Police Office in Quetta to mark the appointment, during which the pacer was properly outfitted in a police uniform and installed into the ranks. Researchers claim to have found microscopic glass beads dispersed around the moon that are encased in water, suggesting a possible reserve of this priceless resource for upcoming human activity on the lunar surface. Although it was always thought that the moon was completely dry, recent missions have revealed that there is water on the surface and trapped inside minerals.
Scientists revealed on Monday that an examination of lunar soil samples recovered in 2020 during China’s robotic Chang’e-5 mission revealed that these glass-like spheres of melted and cooled rock had water molecules produced by the solar wind on the moon’s surface inside of them. Sen Hu, a planetary scientist at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a co-author of the study that was published in the journal Nature Geoscience said “The moon is constantly bombarded with impactors – for example micrometeoroids and large meteoroids – which produce impact glass beads during high-energy flash-heating events.”
The solar wind is a stream of protons and electrons that travels across the solar system after leaving the corona, the sun’s outermost layer of the atmosphere. According to Hu, “solar wind-derived water is produced by the reaction of solar hydrogen with oxygen present at the surface of the lunar glass beads,” with these spheres subsequently serving as a sponge for the water. Water is essential not only as a source of drinking water but also as a component of fuel for future moon exploration, including potential long-term lunar outposts manned by astronauts.
The liquid water bodies that are characteristic of Earth are absent from the moon. Yet, it is believed that a sizable amount of water may be present on its surface, for instance as ice patches that are trapped in minerals and located in continuously shaded areas. “Water is the most sought-after commodity for enabling sustainable exploration of planetary surfaces. Knowing how water is produced, stored, and replenished near the lunar surface would be very useful for future explorers to extract and utilize it for exploration purposes,” Hu said. Researchers believe there is potential in extracting water from glass beads, potentially by heating them to generate vapor that would later condense into a liquid.
It was discovered that the glass beads could hold up to 2,000 parts per million of water by weight. Hu stated that he thinks these impact glass beads are a typical, equally distributed component of lunar soils. This does not provide evidence to support the existence of life on the moon. The moon’s harsh environment, including extreme temperatures, lack of atmosphere, and high levels of radiation, make it highly unlikely for any known form of life to survive. However, scientists continue to explore the moon for signs of past or present microbial life as our understanding of the universe evolves.

Ramadan is all about religious practices and offerings to make the most of this Holy month. However, with working employees balancing work and religion can come off as quite a task which can make it difficult to stay on top of religious and work activities. Balancing work and prayer during Ramadan can be challenging, but it’s extremely important to prioritize your spiritual obligations while also fulfilling your professional responsibilities.
Here are some tips that can help you stay connected to your religious observances while you cater to your workload.
1. Schedule your day
Plan your day to ensure that you can fulfill your work commitments and also have enough time for prayer and spiritual activities. This may mean waking up earlier than usual to have time for Suhoor and Fajr prayer and then adjusting your work schedule accordingly.
2. Manage your workload
Try to plan your work in such a way that you can complete most of it before or after prayer times. This way, you can use your prayer breaks for spiritual activities instead of catching up on work.
If you have short breaks during work hours, use them to perform Dhuhur and Asr prayers or to recite some Quranic verses or dua. This will help you stay connected to your spiritual goals while not compromising your work duties.

4. Prioritize your spiritual goals
Remember that Ramadan is a month of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and seeking forgiveness. Make sure that you prioritize your spiritual goals above your work commitments. This may mean taking time off work for prayers and other spiritual activities.
5. Involve your family
Get your family involved in the preparations for Ramadan. Assign different tasks to each family member, such as meal planning, grocery shopping, and cleaning. This will help reduce your workload and ensure that the duties are divided equally so there is no extra burden on one person.

6. Stay hydrated
It’s important to stay hydrated during Ramadan, especially if you’re working. Make sure to drink plenty of water during non-fasting hours to help maintain your energy levels.
Electric cars are quickly gaining in popularity as people become more environmentally conscious and seek out alternatives to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. However, a recent video by a popular YouTuber has revealed what he believes is “ruining” electric cars. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the issue and explore what can be done to address it.
What is the issue with EV’s?
The YouTuber in question, who goes by the name of AutoFocus, believes that the issue with electric cars lies in the manufacturing process. Specifically, he points out that the production of batteries is incredibly energy-intensive and often involves the use of fossil fuels. This means that even though electric cars produce zero emissions during use, their production process is far from environmentally friendly.
To support his argument, AutoFocus cites a study by the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, which found that the production of electric car batteries generates more CO2 emissions than the production of traditional gasoline-powered cars. The study also notes that the carbon footprint of electric cars is heavily influenced by the type of energy used to power the factories that produce them.

So, what can be done to address this issue? One solution is to switch to renewable energy sources, such as wind or solar power, to power battery production facilities. This would help reduce the carbon footprint of electric cars and make them a more sustainable alternative to gasoline-powered vehicles.
Are solid state batteries more efficient?
Another solution is to invest in the development of more sustainable battery technologies. For example, some researchers are exploring the use of solid-state batteries, which have the potential to be more energy-efficient and less environmentally damaging than traditional lithium-ion batteries. Additionally, some companies are experimenting with the use of recycled materials in battery production, which could help reduce the environmental impact of electric cars.

It’s also worth noting that while the production of electric car batteries may be energy-intensive, the overall environmental impact of electric cars is still significantly lower than that of gasoline-powered vehicles. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, electric cars produce fewer emissions over their entire life cycle, from manufacturing to disposal, than gasoline cars do.
What are the economic benefits ?
In addition to the environmental benefits of electric cars, there are also significant economic benefits to consider. As the technology improves and becomes more widely adopted, the cost of electric cars is expected to continue to decline, making them more accessible to a wider range of consumers. Additionally, electric cars are cheaper to operate than gasoline cars, as they require less maintenance and have lower fuel costs.
While it’s true that the production of electric car batteries is not without its environmental challenges, it’s important to keep in mind the bigger picture. Electric cars are still a more sustainable and economically viable alternative to gasoline-powered vehicles, and there are steps that can be taken to address the environmental impact of battery production. As we continue to invest in renewable energy and sustainable technologies, the future looks bright for electric cars and the environment alike.

The use of AI-generated models has become increasingly popular in recent years, as brands look for new and innovative ways to showcase their products. These virtual models can be created quickly and at a lower cost than hiring human models, and they can also be customized to fit specific body types and sizes.
Levi’s Announced AI Models
Levi’s, a well-known clothing brand, has announced that they will be using AI-generated virtual models in addition to human models to showcase its products. The AI-generated models will be designed to have realistic human features and will be used to supplement traditional human models in photoshoots and other marketing materials.
Levi’s announced the news in a press release noting that the brand is partnering with Amsterdam-based digital model studio Lalaland.ai for the initiative.
“We see this branding as increasing the number and diversity of our models for our products sustainably. We see fashion and technology as both an art and a science, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Lalaland.ai, a company with such high-quality technology that can help us continue on our journey for a more diverse and inclusive customer experience.”
Meanwhile, Levi’s claims that “AI will likely never fully replace human models for us.”
As part of a restructuring plan, Levi’s has reportedly begun a 12-to-19-month process of cutting around 800 jobs, almost 20 percent of its corporate workforce since last year. The move is expected to save about $75 million to $100 million annually for the company.
However, it is important to note that the use of AI-generated models has raised some concerns about issues of representation and diversity. Some critics have argued that these models may perpetuate unrealistic beauty standards or exclude certain groups of people who may not fit the narrow parameters of AI-generated models.
The prices of food items tend to increase during Ramadan due to the high demand for food and the increase in consumption during this period. The quantity of food and grocery items are bought more than usual daily to prepare for iftar and suhoor.
Inflation is most commonly seen at the time of Ramadan as the prices for commodities and essentials are increased regularly. However, in an already bad economy and soaring inflation of an all-time high, food vendors are charging citizens an exceptionally increased amount and no one is willing to take notice.
While some countries take steps to prevent excessive price increases during Ramadan, the same cannot be said about Pakistan. Moreover, there is no check and balance and zero accountability for selling food items at insanely high prices. In a similar instance, fruit vendors in Karachi are exposed for selling fruits at 5X the actual price and it is extremely disappointing.
The video was shared on the social media platform of an independent NGO in Pakistan. The owner compared the original price list offered by the government to the rates offered by vendors. The vendor who managed to charge a citizen PKR.2600 for the amount of PKR.1200 has no shame and remorse while doing so.
Unfortunately, many vendors in the same market were caught doing the same thing. Meanwhile, one such vendor openly admitted to charging an increased amount from the citizen on camera. Such instances have become more common than ever making Ramadan an exceptionally difficult time for those living below their means.
While boycotting might be the only resort, it doesn’t come off as a fruitful solution since such people must be held accountable by the authorities.
