New Wedding Regulations Announced in Islamabad

Weddings in Punjab are known to end at an earlier time, unlike Sindh weddings that continue way past midnight. However, it seems like the wedding rules and regulations have now been tightened for Islamabad Marquees and marriage halls once again.

The Notice issued in accordance with the Prohibition of Ostentatious Displays and Wasteful Expenses Ordinance 2000 has ordered the following: 

  1. Locals are to ensure they stick to the timings which mention festivities can only last until at 10 p.m.
  2. In order to curb the massive wastages at wedding halls, refreshments have been limited to ‘One Dish’ only.
  3. Fireworks, firecrackers are strictly prohibited
  4. Other explosives, firearms, and firing are also prohibited by law.

The notice was issued on the 3rd of January, 2018 and states that failure to comply with the law could lead to stern action being carried out.

2018 is the year for Pakistan, the British Backpacking Society recently named the Land of Pure as the number one travel destination in the world.

Another popular adventurer has put Pakistan on the world’s tourism map after her vlog on ‘Why You Should Visit Pakistan’ has gone viral over the internet.

Nora visited Pakistan last year and vlogged her trip to Islamabad, Hunza and other Northern areas on her Youtube channel. The adventure enthusiast travels throughout the world on her motorcycle.

Here’s what she had to say about her making the video for Pakistan, 

So I traveled to Pakistan last year and it has left a big impression on me. I wanted to make this video because I feel like Pakistan has an underdog position and they can use some help showing the good sides of their country.

The Dutch national is seen campaigning for Pakistan in her video and mentions 5 reasons why one must visit.

IMC Unofficially Launched Toyota Camry Hybrid 2018 in Pakistan!

Unlike other manufacturers who hold grand events to launch their latest models, Indus Motors Company (IMC) recently held a soft launch of their all-new 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid.

Since this was a soft event, only selective individuals were invited, including official dealers and a limited number of media personalities. A car enthusiast shared photos of the Camry which were taken from the event.

Atlas Honda Increases Price-Tag for Bikes!

Since it has not yet been launched in Thailand, chances are that the model will be imported directly from Japan. For those who were unaware, Toyota Pakistan takes its cues from Toyota Thailand.

However, if a car is not available in Thailand, and is a Japanese-made built,  it will be only available with a hybrid drivetrain since there is no regular gasoline-powered (non-hybrid) Camry in Japan.

It is expected to be equipped with a 2487cc engine, giving off 210 BHP.

The rumored price of the 2018 Camry Hybrid are as followed;

Pakistan’s Top Rickshaw Manufacturer To Launch its First Car!

PCB in Works to Bring Australia & New Zealand in Pakistan!

With cricket season in full-swing, and PSL 3 just around the corner, Pakistani sports fanatics cannot wait for the clash of the best players on an international platform.

While on one hand, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is preparing for PSL, on the other they are in works to bring Australia and New Zealand to Pakistan!

According to sources, PCB has plans in the pipeline to encourage some good ol’ cricket from both the teams.

Speaking on the matter, Najam Sethi said:

“We are scheduled to host Australia and New Zealand for our home series in UAE. I will try my best to convince both of them to play at least one match in Pakistan during the series.”- Najam Sethi

He further added, “last year was very good for cricket. PCB and our team have achieved a lot in 2017. It was the collective dedication and team spirit that we did well. We are on a winning streak and it will continue.”

“We hosted the PSL final, then World XI team came and then Sri Lanka arrived and played in Pakistan. West Indies will come and play in Pakistan in March.”

We hope PCB pulls of their magic and successfully convinces the teams to play at least 1 match in Pakistan. Yes folks, #CricketIsComingHome!

Lyari Expressway All Set to be Inaugurated After 15 Years

The National Highway Authority is set to inaugurate three major roads in the next two weeks. The information was provided to the authority during the meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) spokesman on Wednesday has mentioned that the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) has completed its major projects in Sindh and over 80% of the work on the Lyari Expressway has been completed.

 

The Lyari Expressway that has been under construction for the past 15 years and it has been reported to be inaugurated on the 17th of January.

Pakistan’s Top Rickshaw Manufacturer To Launch its First Car!

Pakistan’s top Rickshaw manufacturer, Sazgar Engineering Works Limited, is well known for making CNG powered rickshaws.

The company is now preparing itself to launch its first ever car!

As of now, the company has 7 different rickshaw models available in the market which ranges from a simple rickshaw to a 7-seater variant. The company even has a royal deluxe minicab and delivery truck.

According to a source, the company plans to increase its investment to PKR 330 million in order to increase the size of its production plant from 5 to 27 acres of land, to increase rickshaw production from 20,000 units to 30,000 units each year to meet the ever-increasing demand as well as start the testing and production of their new range of light commercial and passenger vehicles.

Arshad Mahmood, the Company Secretary notified the Pakistani Stock Exchange saying;

“Considering the potential growth and future prospects of the automobile sector in the country and in order to facilitate timely completion of the project; the board has decided to hold the expansion of auto rickshaws production facilities as communicated earlier.”

He further added that the cars and light commercial vehicle manufacturing plan are expected to be completed by 30th June, 2019 and that their newly set up plant will be able to produce 24,000 vehicles every year.

The growing demand has encouraged importing models to Japan! Other than manufacturing rickshaws, Sazgar also produces home appliances such as air conditioners, microwaves etc.

Council of Islamic Ideology to Decide Whether Bitcoin is Halal or Haram!

The debate or Bitcoin being halal or haram has become a whole new ballgame! While some say its haram, others argue its halal, and it seems like a debate which is not going to come to an end!

In order to resolve this issue once and for all, Members of the Council of Islamic Ideology have decided to make a final decision to once and for all end this debate.

Chairman of CII Dr. Qibla Ayaz, while in conversation, said that the council’s research department would rule on Bitcoin trading after thorough consultations.

“There are some people who believe that after completion of CPEC projects, many Chinese and other foreign investors will come to Pakistan. Because of this, there are chances that the consumption of alcohol and ‘haram foods’ would increase … Harming our culture and society,” -Dr. Qibla Ayaz

“The CII will also give its ruling on allotting special seats/ quota for men in educational institutions because girls secure most of the seats, leaving men just a few,” he said while adding that others bills will also be taken under consideration such as Child Marriage and protection of Transgender rights.

Atlas Honda Increases Price-Tag for Bikes!

Just like how Toyota, Suzuki, and Al-Haj FAW increased the prices of their cars due to the devaluation of Rupee against Dollar, thus making imported auto parts more expensive to purchase.

Atlas Honda has also increased the price of their bikes by Rs 500-1000. Unfortunately, this sudden price-hike has resulted in a backlash by customers who are angry and want the manufacturers to go back to the old price.

Revised Price for Atlas Honda Bikes

The revised prices for Atlas Honda are as followed;

  • Honda CG 125- new price (PKR 107,500) old price (PKR 106,500) 1000/-PKR increase in price
  • Honda CG 125 Deluxe- new price (PKR 126,500) old price (PKR 125,500) 1000/-PKR increase in price
  • Honda Pridor- 100cc new price (PKR 87,000) old price (PKR 86,500) 500/-PKR increase in price

As of now, Atlas Honda has just increased prices for 3 models, and the other bikes have the same price. On the other hand, the government has also increased fuel prices which have affected the local markets as not everyone can afford automobiles as a mode of transportation.

Apple Leaks: The Company Secretly Working on 3 New iPhones!

As the year 2017 was coming to an end, and the world celebrated the coming of a new year, Apple was bombed with a gift of lawsuits going up to a total of $999bn!

These lawsuits were filed after the company openly agreed to the claim of them slowing down older iPhones.

Apple, later on, tried to clarify the reason behind this practice in an apology issued on their website, along with a discount for iPhone users.

Apple’s 2018 Prediction

TrendForce has predicted 2018 as a fruitful year for Apple and a not so happy one for its biggest rival, Samsung.

According to TrendForce’s report, tech analysts predict smartphone production will increase compared to 2017. It is being predicted that Apple will take out 2 new variants after its iPhone X and will give a makeover to the iPhone SE.

As the industry leader, Samsung will remain the top for smartphone production in 2018 but will witness a 3% drop in production volume because of great challenges and fierce competition brought by its rivals, including Apple in the high-end market and a number of Chinese brands with Android OS.- TrendForce Report.

iPhone X Plus & iPhone SE2

Nikkei predicts that Apple will super-size the SE to go from a compact 4-in display phone to a whopping 6.1-in screen (being dubbed as the SE2). On the other hand, iPhone X Plus is also a possibility which is being expected to equip a 6.2in or 6.3in screen.

New iPhones in 2018 will continue to improve Face ID technology, screen to body ratio, etc., moreover, the company plans to increase the memory content and embed AMOLED display in two of its models. In order to meet the demand in different ranges of market, Apple will launch the second generation of iPhone SE which targets at the mid-range segment.- TrendForce Report

TrendForce also mentions in the report that the tech giant is working on making improvements to their Face ID feature, and will boast a 2nd-gen tech. If so, an increase in the screen-to-body ratio can see an increase.

The company is also being expected to have a larger memory configuration for the iPhone X, iPhone X2, and SE2. Analysts predict Apple will witness a modest sales growth of up to 7.5% compared to 2017.

SBP Allows Pakistani Traders to Deal in Chinese Yuan

Traders from Pakistan and China have been granted the leniency to trade good and services across the border using the Chinese currency called Yuan. This is for both the public and private sectors.

SBP has provided traders many different options to conduct trading so that they have easy access and can benefit from the activity.

The decision to accept Yaun in trading is mainly because of the building up of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to ProPakistani, Chinese Yuan (CNY) is an approved foreign currency for denominating foreign currency transactions in Pakistan. CNY is at par with other international currencies such as USD, Euro, and JPY etc.

Earlier, Bank of China opened its first branch in Pakistan, the access to onshore Chinese markets will strengthen further. This is a positive sign for the friendship between Pakistan and China.

Not just that, according to economists, foreign exchange reserves of Dollar could be saved through using Chinese currency for trading goods and services with China, which is also a big importing country for Pakistan.

With the growth of CPEC of full-swing, we can expect other major projects coming from China, which will further enhance opportunities in different sectors not just in trade. This decision is extremely beneficial for Pakistan, according to economists, especially when it comes to containing its Current Account Deficit.

Hyundai & KIA to Bring AI Assistants by 2019

While Honda, Suzuki, and Toyota dominate the auto industry in Pakistan, manufacturers like KIA and Hyundai have made a special place for themselves in the industry.

Fast-forwarding in 2018, these manufacturers have made use of top technology to provide their customers with the best comfort and reliability. Both the companies have decided to take things up a notch by introducing AI assistants for their cars by 2019!

The companies have taken out official statements saying that cars released in 2019 will feature AI Voice Assistants and every vehicle manufactured by the company will be “connected” by 2025.

Hyundai has roped in SoundHound to develop an Intelligent Personal Agent (IPA) that will be based on Houndify. The manufacturer claims that the IPA will be able to carry out commands like reminding driver of the schedule, giving proactive suggestions, and will be remotely controlled at home or in the car.

KIA and Hyundai are keen to introduce multiple-command recognition support with their AI assistants as it will make them more ‘Humane’. It will also help the AI to provide help with more efficiency as drivers often ask for the technology to do 2-3 things at once, i.e “please turn the volume up and read my schedule.”

Multiple-command recognition isn’t a technology as much as it is a robust software algorithm, which will allow an AI entity to recognize more than one commands within just a single input sentence.

Pakistani cinema had its fair share of controversies in 2017!

Who can forget Na Maloom Afraad 2 facing a ban after being screened for almost a month nationwide! Verna faced a similar drama as it too witnessed major obstacles in its release.

Humayun Saeed, Shehryar Munawar, and Syra Shahroz’s Project Ghazi surely underwent the most chaotic episode in the history of cinema, as its release got postponed after a star-studded premiere and a heavy spree of promotions!

The most hotly anticipated films like Verna, Rangreza, and Arth bombed at the box-office and the champion so far remains, Punjab Nahi Jaungi!

A Twist in the Tale

However, just at the end of 2017, Ahsan Khan and Neelum Munir’s Chupan Chupai created a dramatic uproar in theaters. With its low round of promotions and budget relatively not-so-high, the rom-com has proved to be a surprise winner.

According to figures revealed by boxofficedetail.com, below is the film’s daily estimated business:

Friday = 45 lacs

Saturday = 50 lacs

Sunday = 45 lacs

Monday= 30 lacs

Total= 1.4 crore

If this trend remains the same, the flick will surely bag a whopping total of 2.25 crore at the end of its first week.

Rangreza Fails to Pass with Flying Colors

Meanwhile, the oh-so-tempting trio of Bilal Ashraf, Gohar Rasheed, and Urwa Hocane failed to work its magic in cinemas. As quoted by boxofficedetail.com, the musical has only reaped 1.95 crores in two weeks.

Meanwhile, Arth-the Destination too was unsuccessful in minting major moolah. However, no complete box-office report of the movie has yet been revealed.

Both the films have performed less than expected and Chupan Chupai has left both the rivals in its dust.

Pakistani Bread Manufacturer Sealed by PFA

The Punjab Food Authority plays a major role in governing the standard of food being served and sold in the province famous for its flavorsome cuisines. The Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yaseen has been busy inspecting different restaurants, and vegetable fields in Faisalabad on Tuesday.

The premises of Wonder Bread was sealed by the team due to reasons of unhygienic conditions at the facility. The factory was investigated and it was then observed that food items were being prepared with various smelly and sub-standard ingredients. It was also discovered that the butter being used could in fact not be termed as ‘butter’.

The other issue that the PFA came across at Wonder Bread were the missing expiry and manufacturing dates on the cake labels. Taking all these problems into consideration the baking facility was sealed off.

The minister, Bilal Yaseen has warned the owners of the unhygienic standards and pathetic working conditions. He further mentions,

“Such carelessness in production of food items shall not be tolerated.”

The investigation team further confiscated Wonder Bread’s raw materials weighing 15,000 Kg and 1,353 packs of manufactured bread.

The minister has also inquired about the medical fitness certificates that were missing at the Wonder Bread factory. He further stressed about the importance of anti-pest arrangements that should be made in the production unit.

Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9+ Revealed via Leaked Rendered Images!

With Galaxy S8 making it BIG for Samsung in 2017, fans just cannot wait for the company to launch its new flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S9, and S9+.

After the official launch of the Galaxy S8, rumors and concept images of the S9 already bombarded the internet!

Well, now we might finally know what the actual Galaxy S9 might look like! A ‘leaked’ photo has revealed what could be the first official image of the phone. The image was shared on a Chinese social network called Weibo.

Weibo user androidandme.com shared the image, but also wrote ‘it looks genuine enough, but you should take it with a grain of salt for now.’

The image was recently shared to the Chinese social network Weibo. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S9 and S9+ officially at CES in Las Vegas next week.

The image suggests the Galaxy S9, which is on the left, will have only one camera on the back of the phone while the Galaxy S9+ will boast a dual rear camera. The placement of the fingerprint sensor on the S9 has also changed.

The Galaxy S9 is being expected to officially launch at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018, which is to be held next week.

However, as of now, the so-called leaked image does seem to confirm some rumors and debunk others.
