PTA has Blocked 831,443 Adult Websites

While meeting with the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) informed the members that a total of 831,443 adult websites have been blocked in Pakistan.

With assistance from stakeholders and the general public, the authority was able to keep young internet users away from immoral activities, shared Chairman PTA Amir Azeem Bajwa.

He added that if the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) was hosted on an unsecured website or platform, it was blocked and if it was hosted on a secured platform, the concerned website was requested for content removal.

If the crime is committed on social media, then PTA refers the case to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for criminal proceedings.

To combat this menace, continuous and collective efforts are required as the millions of webpages are being uploaded on the internet on a daily basis,

All her outfits have been so carefully chosen keeping in mind the Pakistani culture, traditions and even the national colour!

Kate’s outfit while meeting the Prime Minister, Imran Khan, was also highly appreciated and adored. The graceful princess wore a bright green coat with a high collar and large buttons, cream trousers and carried a classy poly-silk green dupatta with gold screen print and silk thread tassels on each side.

No Layoff of Employees Despite a Slowdown in Production: IMC

IMC

Indus Motor Company (IMC) has announced that it will not layoff its employees despite the downfall in production or sales.

An IMC spokesperson shared that the entire country is experiencing an economic downfall and markets have remained volatile due to this.

They added this has been a great struggle for many. Rupee depreciation, reduction in car financing, increase in federal excise duties (FED) and higher input costs added to the struggles.

They further shared that despite this, the company has decided not to layoff employees.

The country is going through an economic slowdown and the overall market has remained volatile. This has indeed been a great struggle.

The factors largely contributing to this include rupee depreciation, reduction in car financing, increase in federal excise duties (FED) and higher input costs. Yet, we have decided not to go for layoffs despite the hard times. We are absorbing this financial crunch.

The IMC spokesperson added that the rupee has depreciated over 31.6%. On the other hand, the Pakistani government has imposed 7% additional conveyance duties, 3% additional sales tax on imports and 2.5%-7.5% FED on various engine capacity vehicles.

Thus, a major decline has been witnessed for the past few months in many sectors especially the automotive market.

Burger Advertisement Sparks Uproar on Social Media!

Once upon a time many years ago, advertisements were very different from the ones we see today. They objectified women, stereotyped men, and were just too much to digest.

Now that brands have realized they do not need all these elements anymore, they are bringing amazing ads touching on emotions and beautiful lessons.

However, there are still some who have not learned that there are some things that should never be done. One such brand is Bicky Burger, a Belgian hamburger brand.

The Belgium advertising regulator shared that they have received hundreds of complaints against the chain for marketing a man hitting a woman for serving him the wrong sandwich.

Even politicians along with the consumers have called out the brand for sick advertisement, claiming that the brand is irresponsible and is promoting domestic violence.

Goodlife Foods, the Dutch producer of Bicky Burger, apologized on Wednesday to all those who were offended by its advertising campaign.

We do not want to promote violence against women and strongly condemn it. We condemn any kind of violence.

This was not the angle of the post. Within the context of the brand, the target group, and the media channel, the goal is to say that selling or buying fake Bicky’s is not done. -Marketeer Tom Sevens to Het Nieuwsblad

In 2016, Bicky ran another campaign which also came into question when the company launched an advertisement with a nod to Alzheimer’s patients. “Being able to eat a Bicky every half hour without feeling guilty, there is at least one advantage,” the advertisement said.

Karachiites are loving this new addition to the area in Abdul Sattar Edhi Avenue.

Take a look:

Earlier, CBC had also placed fished shaped dustbins along the beach to raise awareness that the trash thrown into the sea and on the sands are killing the marine life.

Shaniera Akram had also called for help after Clifton Beach was found in a devastating state with syringes, broken glass, vials of blood and other medical waste dumped on to the popular spot.

We hope that this new effort from CBC and other responsible boards encourages positive behavior and continues to share awareness about the importance of keeping Karachi green and clean.

Mercedes-Benz’ MBUX Baby Protocol is Every Parent’s Dream Come True!

mercedes benz baby protocol

The time your baby naps or goes to sleep can be a relaxing time for you and your little one, however, the process of getting your baby to sleep can be very tiring and stressful.

It takes a while for newborns to develop a sleep schedule, but once they do and get a little older, the sleep timing typically lengthens and becomes more predictable, making your life easy.

If you are a parent struggling to put a bawling baby to sleep, in the future, Mercedes-Benz’ MBUX voice assistant could be able to lull babies to sleep.

Have a look at this advertisement where a father, after failing to stop the baby from crying, brings him out, puts him in the car and voila! The baby is put to sleep within seconds and so is the distressed daddy.

YouTube’s AR Beauty Feature Lets Viewers Try on Lipstick by Tapping Ads

The 2020 model of Mercedes Benz GLE is shown in the video.

The “Baby Control” protocol can be activated by the driver giving a command, “Hey Mercedes, Activate Baby Control”.

“Newborns bring two things:

1) lot’s of joy
2) little sleep.”

The “Baby Protocol” shown in this video plays a lullaby, darkens windows, sets ambient lights and starts active body control which makes the car act as a rocking chair.

The feature is not available in Mercedes-Benz vehicles at this point in time, but all of the features are available individually, according to the official website.

KMC Demolishes 17 Bungalows Built on Hill Park’s Premises in Bahadurabad, Karachi

If there is one thing Karachi could use more of, it is parks.

More parks mean more trees and more fun, which means a better climate and better ways to spend your leisure time.

So there’s good news for the fresh air and park lovers of Karachi:

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation plans to start renovation work at the Ahmed Ali Park (popularly known as the Kidney Hill Park), after retrieving 20 acres of encroached land.

Which means, you will all soon have an all new recreational park to walk, play, and just breathe in in Bahadurabad near the Karachi Cooperative Housing Society.

Here’s what Bashir Siddiqui, KMC Anti-Encroachment Department Senior Director, told SAMAA Digital that the Supreme Court:

Around 20 acres of the park’s land was encroached by the Kokan Cooperative Housing Society. It claimed that the land belonged to the society. They moved the Sindh High Court on the matter,”

The KMC has demolished 17 bungalows constructed on the park’s premises. Three of them were under construction.

“If the Supreme Court did not intervene, the entire park would have been converted into a residential scheme,”

Over 3,000 saplings of different species will be planted at different parts of the park. The park will also have a jogging track and sewerage treatment plants.

A closer look at TECNO’s Camon 12 Air with punch-hole screen technology

The revolutionary punch-hole screen technology is the design trend for 2019.

While this technology was first adopted by companies to integrate into their flagship phones, it slowly started making its way to budget phones.

One of the most noticeable budget phones to make use of this technology is the upcoming Camon 12 Air by TECNO.

So, the selfie camera of Camon 12 Air is the same in size as that of an opening, a hole punch makes in the sheet of paper.

This ends the need for a top bezel on the phone. This gives users a lot of extra screens to work on.

The phone will officially launch in Pakistan in the last week of October as per speculations. Here are some other rumors regarding the specs of the phone:

The phone has an LCD measuring 6.55-inches according to sources. Looking at leaked images shared on social media sites, it can be assumed that the phone will have premium looks.

Overall, the company has done a neat job of integrating this latest design feature in LCD panel which is a bit tricky as compared to doing the same on an OLED panel.

The phone features a powerful 4,000 mAh battery which helps you stay stress-free when it comes to charging issues. The users can easily go two days without having to charge their phones with this battery.

The phone features AI triple camera setup at its back with a primary sensor of 16 megapixels, a secondary sensor of 5-megapixels and a depth sensor of 2-megapixel for the Boke effect along with single-tone Quad-LED flash. The phone features an 8-megapixel selfie camera that is equipped with an AI beauty mode.

The phone is estimated to come with a price range of 20,000 PKR to 25,000 PKR. The upcoming phone is being termed as the best budget phone for photography lovers and fashion-conscious consumers. The phone will be available both online and offline soon after its launch.

United Bravo is Still NOT Available in Other Provinces 1 Year Later

United Auto Bravo

It has now been an entire year since the official launch of the United Auto Bravo.

The Auto Bravo was considered as the alternative for the Suzuki Mehran which was officially discontinued just a week before Bravo’s launch.

Thus, Bravo became one of the most anticipated cars in Pakistan to be manufactured. Offering more features in the same price range as the Mehran, the United Bravo became many consumers’ first choice.

However, the most important thing to mention here is that the Bravo has still not been made available in all of the other provinces exclusing Punjab.

Reportedly, the manufacturer initially had only one dealership Lahore, Islamabad and Multan and two in Faisalabad. Now, United has 10 dealerships– 3 in Lahore, 2 in Faisalabad and 1 each in Islamabad, Sargodha, Vehari, Multan and Jhelum according to their site.

Yet, the Bravo is nowhere to be seen in other provinces. On the other hand, another Chinese hatchback, Prince Pearl 800cc, is expected to launch in our market soon.

We have now to see whether or not Bravo will make it to the other provinces in time or will United Auto face major loss because of this marketing strategy. Only time will tell.

#MakeDoctorsNotPsychos – Students with Even 91% Might Not Get into MBBS Anymore

make doctors not psychos

Getting into medical college is an extreme sport of its own. The hard work, the anxiety, plus the expectation paired with the fear of disappointing your parents/teachers/yourself.

The pressure of meeting parents’ expectations (which begin and end with them wanting their child to be a doctor, more often than not) can be so intense that a number of children are driven to the point of suicide.

According to a World Population Review report, for example, students in South Korea have higher-than-average suicide rates, at least in part because their families tend to put high levels of pressure on them to succeed academically. When they do not achieve the goals that their parents have set for them, they may feel that they have dishonored their families and commit suicide.

Anyway, back to Pakistan.

#MakeDoctorsNotPsychos is one of the top Twitter trends in Pakistan today.

Apparently, there has been a change in the medical admission policy by PMDC pakistan and Lahore High Court. AFTER the admission tests were conducted, and the number of seats has been 3,000 for years while the number of applicants continues to rise.

Due to this, even students with an aggregate score of 89-91% are unable to obtain a seat.

Plus, most universities have closed admissions while the UHS hasn’t even put up their merit list yet.

Social media is in protest of the new policy because, according to them, the new policy will only make the torture worse for medical college applicants.

However, some people think it is not so much the institutions’ fault as it is the fault of the parents who raise their children with the mentality that being a doctor is the only real career they can opt for.

Moreover, the lack of career counselling at schools also plays a huge tole in depriving children of the knowledge of various other career options.

As a result, everyone wants to/is forced to be a doctor.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments.

Socca World Cup 2019: Team Pakistan to Play Against Romania Today

There was never any doubt about Pakistan’s love for sports. Be it cricket, football, badminton or squash, we are a nation that is proud of our athletes and support them with our heart and souls.

Recently, team Pakistan flew out to Greece to participate in the Socca World Cup 2019. Coached by former England forward Kevin Reeves, team Pakistan is gearing up to bring the trophy home.

The boys won 2-1 as Gohar Zaman and Mohammad Waheed scored a goal each for their team. Though the boys were only able to score 1 goal against Slovenia at Leisure Leagues Stadium, they are more optimistic about their match against Romania.

To cheer them on, the Head of Mission of Pakistan of Greece, Yawar Abbas also attended the Socca World Cup Match.

“Thanks to the coach Kevin Reeves and his assistant Gohar Zaman that we were able to complete our first training session here. It turned out well. We are in good form and we will try our best to put on an impressive performance,” team player Habib-ur-Rehman shared.

Most of the players in the squad belong from Leisure Leagues network which is owned by World Group Trunkwala (WGT). WGT President Shahzaib Trunkwala also serves as an honourary vice-president of the International Socca Federation and is the only Asian who is a member of the International Socca Federation’s executive body.

Leisure Leagues is now operating in 78 cities across Pakistan with more than 10,000 players playing regular competitive leagues in a short span of just 3 years.

The world cup is being organized in Crete from 12 to 20 October 2019. This year, Leisure Leagues Pakistan aims to perform better at the global level and wave the green flag amongst the European football giants of the sport in the stadium at Crete.

Kate Middleton Brings Back Memories of Lady Diana’s Pakistan Tour in the 90’s!

lady diana and kate middleton

The Royal Couple landed in Pakistan yesterday, and the hype around their arrival was so high that #RoyalVisitPakistan is still one of the top social media trends.

Moreover, as expected, the couple’s faces have been all over the newspapers.

Not a lot has been revealed about their tour schedule owing to security concerns, however, we have been told that Prince William plans to honour his mother, Princess Diana’s charity work in Pakistan during his official 5-day tour.

“Details of the trip are being kept under wraps for security, but the couple — who will travel without their three children — will meet Pakistan’s president, Arif Alvi, and prime minister, Imran Khan, whom the Duke has known since his childhood,” The Sunday Times reported.

Diana, Princess of Wales, was a close acquaintance of Pakistan’s current prime minister Imran Khan, and had visited the country a number of times.

She last came to Pakistan in 1997 to help raise funds for a cancer centre Khan built in Lahore, shortly before she passed away in Paris.

Diana was popular for her elegance and the way she would adapt to the Pakistani culture whenever she visited. And now, Kate Middleton is being held up to quite the same standards.

We believe it is safe to say that Kate is following in the footsteps of her mother in law without looking like a first copy of her.

Recently, a magazine has suggested that local designer Hassan Shaharyar Yasin (HSY) would be dressing the Duchess of Cambridge. In an interview with the publication, Susan Kelley, editor and founder of fashion blog WhatKateWore.com, said:

“I think we will probably see at least one traditional shalwar kameez — the top and loose trousers look — from Kate on this trip.”

Let’s take a look at her outfits so far and how they resemble those of her mother in law’s:

Here’s what she was dressed in when she landed in Pakistan, alongside what Diana had worn in Pakistan in the 90’s:

The minimalistic outfit is by by British designer #CatherineWalker, a favourite of the Duchess of Cambridge, customised in ombré aqua fabric. The accessories (matching clutch and earrings) are by the Pakistani brand, Zeen Woman.

On the second day of her tour, which is today, Kate is sporting a subtle shalwar kameez by Pakistani designer Maheen Khan:

Fun fact: Maheen Khan ran an embroidery house in the UK and did the embroidery for Catherine Walker until she died.

Hyundai-Nishat to Begin Local Assembly by January 2020

Hyundai-Nishat

Hyundai-Nishat has officially announced the production of local assembly of car units. According to the reports, the first car will be assembled in Pakistan in January 2020.

Hyundai will first assemble a H100 Porter commercial pickup with 20% indigenization, Tatsuya Sato, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai-Nishat shared.

This news was shared during the inauguration ceremony Hyundai’s first Digital Store in Karachi & the launch of company’s new Ioniq hybrid liftback.

Sato added that the total investment at the Faisalabad manufacturing facility is $150 million. The annual production capacity will be 15,000 units. Furthermore, the plant will employ 250 people directly. Sato also shared that the localization level would be increased to 45% in the next 5 years which would eventually open new job avenues.

One dollar was equal to Rs 105 when we initiated the project as compared to current rate of Rs 156-158. The rupee-dollar parity is also hitting existing assemblers despite achieving up to 65% localization. Higher indigenization in vehicles can stabilize on which we are focusing more.

Starbucks UK Apologizes to Pakistani Man After His Heroic Act Goes Viral

Starbucks

There is a popular quote that goes like “When God blesses you financially, don’t raise your standard of living, raise your standard of giving.”

However, it is not too often that we see this quote being practiced. In a capitalistic world, most of us are part of the rat race to do more and have more, which only makes us selfish.

Therefore, when a person decides to stand up for a person in a position of lesser power than them, it needs to be appreciated and talked about.

A few days ago, a kind-hearted Pakistani man won many a hearts all around the globe by putting his foot down for a homeless man at Starbucks, UK.

Sajid Khaloon

Kahloon was enjoying a meal at the popular coffee giant when a homeless, hungry man walked in with hopes of getting fed. While everyone else ignored the poor man, Kahloon decided to buy him his meal of choice, and the £8.50 was paid for right away.

As the homeless man sat down to eat his food at the outside seating area of the café, someone from the Starbucks staff came over to him accompanied with a security guard, and expressed their concern about having a dirty, foul-smelling man in tattered clothes dining at the place.

Sajid Kahloon immediately decided to confront the staff regarding this behavior, and maintained that they had no right to remove a customer whose bill had been paid for. Upon meeting with resistance over this, Kahloon decided to record the drama on his phone.

Thankfully for Kahloon, the video took the internet by storm and as his story reached thousands of people on social media, two local newspapers also published the footage. The same footage then made its way to the mainstream papers such as The Independent, Daily Mail, The Sun and websites in America, Canada, Australia, Germany, Denmark, Spain and several other countries of Europe.

In the viral video, Sajid repeatedly said:

Now he is obviously eating the food, you can’t just ask him to leave. Let him eat the food and he can leave, what’s the problem? He’s eating his lunch, then let him eat the food

After around 3 hours of the video being on the web, Starbucks spoke up on the matter with their statement.

A spokesman for Starbucks said:

The interaction on video is not indicative of the environment we strive to create.

We are looking into the circumstances surrounding this customer’s experience and will take appropriate action to ensure our stores remain welcoming places for everyone.

We want every customer to have a positive experience, and we apologise that we did not meet that expectation in this instance.

Later in an interview Kahloon explained the situation in more detail:

He didn’t ask for money or anything else. I was shocked to see that a Starbucks employee and security guard told the homeless man he could not eat the sandwich and chocolate cake in the seating area outside the coffee shop.

When I stood by his side and defended him, I was told that it was due to ‘a policy of the company’. When I asked what was the policy, I received no answer.

I told the staff that they were breaching human rights of the poor man who was their customer.

Sajid Kahloon, who is the owner of Run Rooster, has been interviewed by dozens of publications and won praise from around the world for his kindness – something not common these days in the materialistic world. In total, over 70 million people have seen the video clip and news across the platforms.

With his little act of kindness, Sajid has made Pakistan AND humanity proud.
