Recently, the well-known wicket-keeper and batsman Kamran Akmal took to Twitter and posted a video of him training, which got a lot of reaction.

After he posted the video, many Pakistanis expressed their opinion on how he was being trained. Many asked if the gym ran out of weighting equipment and whether lifting the trainer up was necessary? Many people also expressed how unsafe it could be for his health, and it is not the best way to workout.

What was meant to be posted as a fitness motivation turned out to be a point of criticism for Kamran Akmal, making his list of getting into the news for stuff that is not cricket even longer?

This is not the first time we have seen the video of the cricketer being posted online. There are numerous videos of him working out online.

Cadbury Responds To Hate For Featuring Gay Couple In Ad

Amongst the most loved chocolates, Cadbury probably takes the crown; at least chocolate lovers would claim. And aside from good product quality, they also make good ads; don’t tell me you didn’t hum to ‘Dairymilk ka postman aya,’ or that you have forgotten the ‘tou Phir Kuch meetha hojaye?’

But these were both Cadbury’s ads for Pakistan. The Mondelez owned brand’s recent campaign for the UK has received some backlash. The campaign was made for the product Creme Egg. The campaign has many visuals, and amongst those many visuals, one features a gay couple biting on to the chocolate.

The homophobia, subtle and otherwise, flowed on to Twitter. Some were blatantly announcing their homophobic beliefs and called it names, while others thought they were presenting a sophisticated argument. In reality, however, it was clear that they, too, were clearly homophobic.

But what was the idea behind this particular campaign? The idea was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Cadbury Creme Eggs by showing that the product can be eaten in different ways by different people. So you can lick it, dip it, or even cook it. And anyone can eat it as long as you are doing it with your loved ones. But the loved ones featured were a gay couple. And people said this was an unnecessary addition. You could also see supporters of Cadbury too though. They did make an interesting point that for years on, viewers have seen heterosexual couples get featured for even more unnecessary scenes, so this really is homophobia speaking.

“To anyone “offended” by this: you realize that we’ve seen a straight couple make out thousands of times on television already, and we don’t complain. wonder why you are?”

The brand releases the statement

But Cadbury decided to respond to the whole fiasco. They emailed their statement to a UK publication.

“Cadbury has always been a progressive brand that spreads a message of inclusion, whether it is through its products or brand campaigns. We are proud of our Golden Goobilee advert, which celebrates the many ways that everyone can enjoy a Cadbury Creme Egg. To illustrate this and showcase the joy our products bring, a clip of a real-life couple sharing a Cadbury Creme Egg was included in the advert.”

Moreover, they also explored the angle of not representing social distancing in the COVID era. They said:

“The actors featured in the film were from the same household, so they were egg-static to share a delicious Cadbury Creme Egg together! We also ensured that social distancing and stringent hygiene measures were taken when shooting the new advert.”

It is nice to see that brands do address concerns raised by the viewers, but they do not shy away from standing by their opinions.

Man Attempts Sending A ‘Samosa’ To Space & Here’s What Happened!

With everything that happened in the past year, there is nothing that could surprise us anymore. Whether it is mysterious discoveries or contact with aliens, the past year was extremely eventful. Now, with the year 2021 upon us, there has been an extremely unusual event that has taken place.

The Samosa-Space Launch:

According to a report, an Indian eatery known as Chai Walla made three attempts to send Samosa to space. Niraj Gadher, the Chai Walla owner, used helium balloons to launch the samosa. During the first attempt, the balloons slipped out of his hands, while in the second try, the helium in the balloons was insufficient to carry Samosa into space.

Niraj Gadher, the owner of Chai Walla, claimed while speaking to news site “API” that he had this idea as a joke once, then he decided to act upon it as a laughing matter.

The whole ordeal video was posted on Youtube, where Niraj shared the entire event on Chaiwalla’s official channel, where it has been viewed by over 100,000 times.

The video shows how the samosa was launched with helium balloons and a GoPro camera along with a GPS tracker to track its location. Gadher claimed that he had faced numerous failures in his life, but it has never made him afraid to try new things.

In the video, it can also be seen that the balloon was launched from England and landed all the way to Picardie, France. Instagrammer Alex Mathon found the rubble of the crash-landed Samosa and the equipment that can be seen towards the end of the video.

Why Would He Opt For Samosa’s Though?

In case you have wondered, why would ChaiWalla opt for a Samosa to launch into space, the eatery is amongst one of the world’s top places and is one of the most well-known restaurants with Indian Cuisines. This does not surprise as Desis, who comprise almost 1.5 billion people of the planet (if you add the populations of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh), consider Samosas a must-have snack. A video went viral a few years back in which Americans who were not familiar with the taste of Samosa can be seen trying them out for the first time.

Let’s hope the Samosa makes it to space one day, so maybe we’ll see the extra-terrestrials trying them out for the first time, which is not impossible considering all the bizarre and unusual events have been taking place.

Leena Ghani Files Lawsuit Against Ali Zafar For Harassment

Do you all recall the Ali Zafar Meesha Shafi scandal? There have been conflicting statements regarding that ever since the issue started. Some have supported Meesha as she led the torch for MeToo against Ali Zafar, while others supported Ali. Now, another woman has filed a harassment lawsuit against the singer.

Leena Ghani files lawsuit

An activist by the name of Leena Ghani has filed a suit for PKR 500 Million at Sindh High Court. The petitioner said that she was first harassed in 2014 and has continued to be harassed after that. In her lawsuit, she has detailed all the dialogues that have made her feel uncomfortable.

The statements referenced are indeed very distasteful. And if proved true, it will be a very disappointing addition to Ali Zafar’s track record. See Points 8, 9, and 10 in the images.

Moreover, she also brought in the tweets by Ali Zafar specifically posted on 20th and 22nd December 2020. She said that these two tweets were made with malicious intent and were based on lies. The activist claims that the tweets make the claim Leena was behind the campaign Meesha started. This episode has caused her mental anguish. It also damaged her reputation to a somewhat degree.

Not to forget the Meesha Shafi scandal where the two singers had an active battle on social media, the activist has ensured that the accused cannot cause further harm by talking about it on any platform.

The Sessions Judge Lahore has issued a notice for 25th January to Ali Zafar.

In this petition, she has also stated that the statement she made on 19th April 2018 be declared true. And as compensation for the mental anguish and damage to her reputation, Ali Zafar should reimburse PKR 500 million to her.

PTA Announces New WhatsApp Privacy Policy

Islamabad (January 13, 2021): Keeping in view the concerns by general public regarding recently announced changes in privacy policy of the WhatsApp, following clarifications have been provided by WhatsApp and Facebook:

• The updated Privacy Policy will go into effect on February 8, 2021.
• The rationale for the changes in the WhatsApp privacy policy is to make it easier for people to both make a purchase and get help from a business directly on WhatsApp.
• This update does not impact how people communicate privately with friends or family. WhatsApp is still end-to-end encrypted.
• WhatsApp shares certain categories of data – including account registration information (e.g. phone number), how users interact with others (including businesses), and the user’s IP address – with Facebook for purposes such as promoting safety and integrity, fighting spam, improving infrastructure and delivery systems, and providing integrations which enable users to connect their WhatsApp experiences with other Facebook Company Products and personalizing content (including ads and friend suggestions) across the Facebook Company Products. That has been the case since 2016 and has not changed with this update.
• WhatsApp is making it easier for people to both make a purchase and get help from a business (using WhatsApp Business API) directly on WhatsApp. This change helps reduce onboarding time for businesses from a matter of weeks or months to a matter of minutes.
• Users will be notified within a chat with a business that has chosen to use Facebook or a third-party to manage their WhatsApp messages so they can choose whether to interact with this business.
• Once a user starts using WhatsApp to send messages to businesses using WhatsApp for Business App, the shopping data can be shared with merchants and Facebook to improve their services. It doesn’t mean you will see ads on WhatsApp.
• This has zero impact on private messages and calls with your friends and family – no one can read them except you and the person you’re communicating with – not even WhatsApp or Facebook.
• For the limited categories of data WhatsApp does collect, it takes measures to restrict access to that information. While you may grant WhatsApp access to your contacts to help deliver the messages you send, WhatsApp does not share contact lists with anyone, including Facebook.
• Users who have not accepted the new policies by February 8, 2021 will not lose their accounts, but will need to agree to the updates in order to use their account.

Apparently, an animal entered a police station and frightened everyone out of it! What creature has the capability to pull this off? A lion? No, it was a pig!

The Animal Kingdom

The kingdom is full of various kinds of creatures and animals. They consist of birds as well as ground walkers. More so, there are oceans full of creatures that are extremely interesting to watch. One of these creatures is the pig. It is considered quite an unclean animal, mainly cause of its tendency to eat waste material.

It is one of the reasons that the eating of the pig is forbidden in Islam. Eating its meat can also cause quite a lot of diseases as well as long term health issues. So, what exactly happened? In Moro Police Station today, two pigs barged in the door and started roaming around the station. Reportedly, the staff decided to vacate and gathered outside the building while the pigs wreaked havoc inside!

A Most Unusual Incident

One of the creatures was driven out by the locals of the area and the second was allegedly beaten out of the station. Pigs have become quite a nuisance in recent years as well. During the time of President Musharraf, hunters used to be paid a handsome amount for hunting and killing warthogs and rogue pigs.

These creatures ruin the crops by digging up seeds and then spitting them out. This was quite an unusual incident that occurred today and it is most rare too! Let us hope no more wildlife enters into stations and scares away our protectors!

It is perfectly ordinary to be afraid of a charging animal. There are times when people take bulls as tame animals and when they start chasing, all hell breaks loose. There is a whole festival in Spain which revolves around bulls chasing people. So, it can be considered okay to be afraid of an animal that suddenly entered your premises.

Beware: Househelp In Gulshan, Karachi Poisons Family

At one time, robbers were rampant in Karachi. At any street, you would turn, and you could very well expect someone to be standing with a loaded pistol or a knife. But over the years, the frequency of it has lessened. Now, thieves are the new hit. Did you know that even the househelp in Gulshan is outright drugging or poisoning now?

Well, they are. Last week, a maid in Gulshan cooked food that was laced with poison. The details were:

“This maid was hired by a family friend of ours on 8 January 2021 in Madras Society, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The very next day (i.e., on Saturday), she cooked food which the children did not have, but the parents were unfortunate enough to have eaten that afternoon.

Since the parents were sleeping from after Zuhr beyond Maghrib and did not wake up, they were rushed to the Dow Ojha Campus, where they were diagnosed to have been poisoned. The mother of the household succumbed within two days of being in the ICU, but the father has survived and is still not well.

She has stolen about Rs 5 lac worth of valuables but also deprived someone of their better half. The food she cooked has gone for a lab test, and investigations are underway, but I would like to urge everyone to be vigilant while hiring maids.”

Past Incident

This reminds me of another incident last month. An acquaintance of mine had hired a maid. She was not supposed to cook food, but the rest of the works were her responsibility. So, for instance, she was supposed to clean the house as well as the kitchen. A week later, they asked her to make tea. Everyone fell sleepy after the drink.

When they woke up from the slumber, they groggily found that all their jewelry, the ones she had access to, had been all stolen, and she was nowhere to be found.

So it’s time to be very attentive and wary about the househelp you hire. Do proper investigation before you give access to your family and your valuables.

Universal Service Fund (USF) awarded two Optic Fiber Cable (OFC) project contracts to PTCL which was facilitated by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT). Through this landmark project, the people of Ghotki, Kashmore, Sukkur, and Khairpur districts in Sindh will be enabled by PTCL’s latest ‘Fiber Optic Technology’ ensuring that they remain connected and at par with all the metropolises of the country, and the world as a whole through digital connectivity.

People of Interior Sindh will not be wrong if their expectation is economic and social uplift as a community once the project goes live with the latest infrastructure in place.  These regions were less-privileged in the past as the internet facility was not available the way it was in the larger cities of the country. This unavailability of high-quality internet and connectivity had restricted these regions to attain continuous online education, digital banking services, new business opportunities, and many more social and economic aspects related to ICT directly and indirectly.

However, with PTCL Fiber Optic Technology Networks and other initiatives, national connectivity will become seamless. Fast internet service will provide the residents of these regions with latest technology to enable them to meet their basic needs of the ‘New Normal’. It will pave the way for better business opportunities for companies, as they will be able to tap into new domestic and international markets for their local goods. E-governance can also be easily executed that will be in line with the ‘Digital Pakistan’ vision.

Apart from the commercial opportunities and advantages to the community, this initiative is the first step towards transforming the region into smart cities. Such advancements will improve the healthcare service along with the quality of education that will provide a better livelihood to the locals. Pakistan can only grow and prosper in its true sense, when the entire country is facilitated with uniform basic services. Experts also claim that these developments in the infrastructure will lay the basic foundation for the arrival of 5G technology, which is in the near future.

The efforts of PTCL and USF facilitated by the MoITT will reap benefits for the locals both long-term and short-term, as they will get empowered by using PTCL’s telecom services in this region. Being a global village no country can afford to let its people be deprived of the basic necessities and internet service is no longer a luxury.

Pakistan’s current Prime Minister and world-cup winning team captain, Imran Khan, has been voted as the best captain in International Cricket Council’s (ICC) poll on Twitter.

Not only that, but the poll also included Indian captain Virat Kohli, former South African superstar AB De Villiers, and Australian women cricketer Meg Lanning.

On Tuesday, ICC posted a poll on Twitter and asked the cricket fans to decide who they would rate as the best among these giants.

Imran Khan received 47.3 % of votes, Kohli earned 46.2 % votes, De Villiers received only 6.5 %, while Lanning earned only 0.5 %. What’s eye-opening is that in only 24 hours, a total of 536,346 votes were registered.

It is also important to note that certain sources credit Faisalabad as a massive industrial hub responsible for manufacturing up to 90% of the textile goods of our country. JazzCash & KASB Securities Join Hands To Promote Retail Investment

Karachi – 12 January 2021: JazzCash, Pakistan’s leading digital payments platform, and KASB Securities, the country’s leading brokerage firm, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote retail investment by easing access to investment products and stock market trading. But the point of the post was that the first day of it is the worst. And as men, people around us should try to make life as comfortable for others as they can. Here, she acknowledged the staff at Big Bang, where she is shooting for her project. She said she mentioned about her periods, and the entire team did their best to make the shoot as comfortable as they could.

But obviously, people in Pakistan have to make everything toxic. They have to start negative commenting, not realizing how impactful negativity is for others.

So an Insta follower commented, saying that the religion doesn’t allow talking about it. And then she further makes another horrible and judgemental comment. She said, ‘since you (Ushna Shah) don’t know about it (religion), no complaints.’
