These Chowmein Samosas Are Going Viral & Pakistanis Are Losing It!

Do you like to try new foods? Or more like are you experimenting with fresh foods? I don’t know about experimenting but new stuff definitely goes viral instantly, be it for the innovation or for something people just cannot fathom. These Chowmein Samosas are going viral these days. And people cannot decide how to react to it.

Origins of Chowmein Samosa

Now is it a home invention inspired by the lockdown or street food. Let’s figure it out, shall we?

So one beautiful day, the politician Sharmila Faruqi tweeted a picture of an exciting samosa. Now you must be familiar with the aalu and the qeema in your samosa, but this one had Chowmein!!! Can you believe it?

To this day, it remains a mystery if she made it herself given that the lockdown was awakening the chef in her or whether she found this diversity of food at a restaurant.

Twitter users erupted all over the country, and a debate started. Some like what they saw, and some were bawling at the picture.

Let’s have a look at some of the Pakistanis’ reactions.

1. For some, when Its a No, its a No!

This user was not into experimenting with food. Chowmein samosa was not something he wanted to eat. And he used one word to convey his feeling. NO! I mean, we are a very decisive nation.

2. Some took it as disrespect… Harsh!

@_zeduke was greatly offended when she saw her two favorite foods being subjected to what she took it as an insult.

3. Even Adventurers Didn’t Feel Adventurous

Even the adventurous ones who like food fusion could not bring themselves to like this Chowmein Samosa.

4. Some became chowmein samosa advocates

This dramatic tweet just couldn’t put up with the overreacting because food is food at the end of the day.

5. If some can hate it, some can love it too

Few Twitter users had no idea why the new cuisine was getting this much amount of hate. We all are different and have unique taste buds, so some can find what they see amazing.

It so happens that for Pakistanis, street food holds a special place in their hearts, and they refuse to allow modifications in it. So we will have to wait and see if, after this immediate Twitter sensation, the Chowmein Samosas will be here to stay or will they be forgotten.

Ahsan Khan Fined Rs.500,000 On Time Out By PEMRA For Animal Props

Ahsan Khan fined by PEMRA

Ahsan Khan, the famous actor/host, is now facing a fine of Rs.500,000 for an interesting issue.

Ahsan Khan is the host of an ongoing reality TV show by the name of Time Out. There are often many guest appearances on the show. We have seen quite a lot of celebrities on it and each one with their own point of view. However, there have been other ongoings on the show as well. It seems that there are animals on the show too.

Fining Ahsan Khan and Time Out

While there are animals on the show, they are not being used as wholesome figures or cute pets. On time out, it seems that animals were being used as props! That is one of the highest forms of abuse that one can put an animal through. These are innocent and helpless creatures, they don’t deserve this kind of mistreatment.

Apparently, the host brought forward rabbits on the show. The rabbits were often placed on the laps of contestants and guests, for answering questions wrong. In such a case, the contestants would either yell at the rabbits or push them away or move away. This was, in simple words, harm to the creature itself. It’s causing them pain and suffering.

The Hefty Amount

The petition for the fine was filed by a lawyer Faizullah Khan Niazi. It was filed against the TV channel over animal abuse and violations. PEMRA then took this into consideration and saw it fit to impose a PKR 500,000 fine on Express Entertainment.

While it may seem hefty, it is justified due to the abuse that was taking place on the show. It had been happening for quite a while now and it was good news to see justice being done. Maybe this will finally urge them to stop using live animals. It is reported that pigeons were also used on the show, as props.

Caring For Animals

We hope that this incident helps knock some more sense into the TV channel authorities. While animals can be a subject of wholesome love and appreciation, they should not be abused and disturbed. They are God’s precious creations and we have no right to do them any harm.

We are glad that the national authorities are taking note of such acts and are provided with the swift hammer of justice. It shows that many people are willing to care for the well-being of animals. This incident has gone quite viral on the internet and people are pouring opinions by the dozens.

Pakistani Boys Reveal Why They Hate Pakistani Dramas

boys, dramas

As far as dramas go, we can bet that each time a new good TV drama comes, it can become mothers and daughters’ bonding time, never mothers and sons. Why do boys hate watching Pakistani dramas? We’ve all thought it, but now the elephant in the room has been ousted.

Why Don’t Boys Watch Dramas?

A girl on Twitter had the same query as everyone. The only difference was that she actually went ahead and popped the question! However, you must see how hilarity ensued because boys did not hold back when it came to their responses.

The question:

The Answers!

Before we share the hilarious responses to this seemingly mundane question, it’s best to describe their nature so you can be prepared!

While some boys gave honest and genuine feedback to the question, others took this as an opportunity to practice stand up comedy. Then some went down the sexist rabbit hole because girls are drama queens.

Check out the hilarious replies here:

So why don’t boys actually watch dramas?

Not to comment generally, but if you have noticed, boys are usually pickier about what they watch when it comes to things besides senseless games. They want “good” movies and dramas; everything else becomes nonsensical suddenly. God forbid if you recommend a romcom, it can become a justification for them to roast your taste in movies altogether.

Gender Socialization

It can partly be because boys never grow up liking or thinking about the stuff girls have been. Girls have grown up loving and admiring the idea of a prince-charming and waiting for “the one,” whereas boys have not. Therefore, when they see Notebook and how the lovers keep separating, they hate it or are simply indifferent to it!

Society’s Role

Has anyone wondered how people react if boys suddenly start anticipating 7 PM on the clock because a drama is coming up? If a young boy starts an obsession with Suno Chanda or Mere Pass Tum Ho, that will become something for others to laugh over.

Why? Again, boys are not expected to be interested in these things, and even if they are, they are negatively sanctioned by society through ridicule. In that case, as funny as it may be, let’s start thinking about the small things that matter!

5 Bizarre Traditions That Exist Around The World

Numerous cultures are coexisting in this world. And one will never be able to comprehend them fully. This is because some traditions are absolutely bizarre. But what are bizarre traditions really? Traditions that you would not understand. But this way, the people whose traditions you don’t understand might find your traditions the same way. Even so, we have compiled a few bizarre traditions that we were so according to us. We do not mean to offend anyone with this post.

1. Mother’s placenta

Giving birth really takes nutrients away from mothers. Moreover, they also go through psychological challenges due to massive hormonal changes. Every culture has its own way of dealing with that. In China and Jamaica, even in some parts of India, mothers are made to eat the placenta after giving birth. People assume that this way, the women will be able to regain the lost nutrients.

2. Bride kidnapping by Romani Gypsies

Roman Gypsies have a rather misogynist tradition. If you like a girl, you can kidnap her and keep her for 3 to 5 days. It is not a crime and perfectly legal there, apparently. Moreover, it means you have won her so you can get married to her. Wait? Was Malal e Yaar inspired by the gypsies?

3. Bathroom ban for three days after the wedding in Northern Borneo

Northern Borneo has a tribe by the name of Tidong. They believe that your bathroom trips can affect your marriage. So if you want to ensure a good relationship, you need to stop using the bathroom for three days. Both the bride and groom have to do it. So neither can they take a bath nor urinate. Talk about kidney issues. But whatever helps them sleep at night, I guess.

4. Throwing cinnamon at single people in Denmark

In Denmark, people apparently love the idea of marriage. And if you are not married, they remind you that you aren’t. So if you turn 25 and are in Denmark, instead of gifts, you will see people showering cinnamon powder on you. Fun fact, at 30, the cinnamon becomes pepper.

5. Let’s consume the dead

Read it if you are not a soup lover because if you are, this piece of info will ruin the delicacy for you forever.

In Venezuela and Brazil, the Yanomami tribes follow custom. According to that, they add the ashes of their loved ones in soups. The idea is that it will help the dead find peace and live on through them.

We definitely do not mean to offend anyone. But does one really have to consume the dead? Can’t all the bizarre traditions be as cool as the Tomatina festival, the one we saw in ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’?

HEC Announces A New University Admission Policy For A Level Students

HEC Ehsaas Program

We already know how important education is to the system. A country itself cannot thrive well if there is no education present in it. Budgets for education, have to be set aside to make sure the country flourishes. If people were to not have an education, how will they move forward? Now we have another piece of news for you. The HEC has made a few amendments to the admission policy.

Due to the pandemic occurring, many educational places have been shut down. Classes have been moved to an online schedule. People are now adapting to this new way of life as routines continue to bloom. Among such chaos, examinations have also been cancelled in Pakistan. Students who had spent countless hours, studying, are now sitting idle. They want to give the exams but the virus simply won’t let them.

HEC policy for new A level admissions

HEC New Policy:

The examinations for A levels second year have also been moved forward. Students who were expected to appear in May will now be sitting in October. This shows that a whole year can go to waste because they will be stuck in between. To counter this problem, the HEC has decided to make the university admission policy more lenient.

Instead of waiting for the A2 result to apply to universities, the places are ready to give provisional admissions. This is so there is no wastage of time between now and when the A2 students finally give their papers. Provisional admission allows students to start with their undergraduate programs. The admission is then confirmed when the A2 results will finally be here.

Making Things Easier:

This is quite a good move on the end of HEC. It makes it easier for students to pursue higher education without any hindrance. Additionally, it even allows students to explore what they want to pursue. Provisional admission is something that can also be easily cancelled. If a student wants to switch fields, this can be a good way to check a field.

We hope that the A-levels students can get provisional admissions, as said by the HEC. The decision has also been made by the heads of some private universities. It comes at a time when education is critical. A person is still trying to see where they fit in the world and they want to experience university life.

Students Are The Future:

Education in Pakistan seems to be approaching better horizons now. First, we got to hear about a new media university opening in Islamabad. Now, we get to see leniency in admission policies. The writer of this article remembers how difficult some of the entry tests actually were.

Let us see what more developments are made in this domain as the year progresses. Maybe we have a lot of potential Einsteins and Newtons sitting among us.

5 Things That Prove You’re A TRUE Foodie

5 Healthy & Yummy Alternatives To French Fries

Food is an art, and a foodie is an artist. One cannot just up and say, ‘they are foodies.’ It can only happen after a proper diagnosis. And we are here to do just that. Here are a few things, or more like a checklist, to see if you are a true foodie or not. If you don’t check on even one of these, well, my friend, I am sorry, but this just isn’t you.

1. Always Hungry

You had Biryani, and you are hungry at 1:30 pm. You had Biryani at 1 pm. This should be reasonably explanatory of how hungry you are all the time. And it is just in your mind, of course. Your stomach has not yet processed the food, but your mind is already telling you that you are hungry. There is no winning against the mind, I tell you.

Hungry

2. You Think About It Always

Even when you are not hungry, which will be half an hour from when you last had food, you are thinking about it. You think about so much that in the morning, you keep thinking about the menu for dinner. And yet, when you get to order it, it will still take you some time to finally get to a decision. But it is always fun to do that, thinking about what you can eat.

3. You keep watching and re-watching Food videos

Watching and re-watching food videos and never getting tired of it is another indication that you are a foodie. In fact, at times, even you know that you will not be trying it at home. Yet you will still watch the whole preparation of the recipe and the execution of it. And so Masterchef was possibly the perfect video watching activity for all foodies out there.

food

4. Your social media feed is full of food

You may not realize it, but your social media feed is full of food images or videos. The algorithm picks on it, you know. When it sees your interest, it shows you what you want to see. So go through your Insta and Facebook feed. If it is full of food, you are a foodie.

5. Where does your salary go? Food

You are always complaining about a low salary because you think you are unable to buy anything. But in reality, you are spending around 80% of it on pay; fancy food, junk food, roadside food, etc. How will you ever have enough money for other utilities?

salary food

And all this will seem that there is nothing wrong with it. This is the sixth and most important part. If you agree with this as well, you are a true, certified foodie, my friend.

Car is one of the essential ways of commuting in Pakistan. As a country that does not have a stable public transport system and has megacities that require you to travel long distances daily, it is imperative to have your own car.

What can be bought under 10 Lac rupees?

There is a misconception that all reliable cars cost a fortune and cannot be budget-friendly. Considering the vehicle’s driver has to commute on a daily basis, it has to be reliable too and not have too many maintenance costs as it could take a hit on your budget.

Suzuki Alto VXR

Another widely popular car in the streets of Karachi is the Suzuki Cultus. The car is known to be reliable and is famous as one of the budget-friendly cars with a reasonably good Air Conditioner.

The Japanese carmakers manufacture Coure even-though Daihatsu is widely popular amongst Pakistanis as it is one of the most compact automobiles available. The cars are known to be durable but have a reputation of having parts slightly expensive than their peers at Suzuki, giving it a slight disadvantage. It is an excellent choice if one wants to opt for a Japanese car instead of a locally manufactured one.

Suzuki Bolan

Suzuki Mehran

Rabia Anum Schools Caller Over Asking For A ‘Wazeefa’ To Have A Son

rabia anum

Rabia Anum, the famous news anchor, is going viral after schooling a caller who phoned during her Ramadan show transmission on PTV Home.

Sexist Culture

Our culture is weirdly very sexist; prioritizing sons over daughters. This may stem from the idea that they have to marry off their daughter who ultimately moves away but the son brings a wife who is ‘supposed’ to live with them.

Of course, after twenty-five years when the son moves away and it is the daughter most of the times who is more involved with them, it is then that they learn their lesson.

Caller on Ramadan Transmission

But anyway, this mentality is deeply embedded in our mindsets. And even if some of us has realised this and attempt to change this, it will take generations until the mentality is completely removed. This is evident in the phone call in the Ramadan transmission airing on Pakistan Television (PTV Home).

Hosting the show, famous news anchor talked to a caller who stated her query. The caller has five daughters but no sons and would really like to have at least one. For that purpose, the caller wanted a wazeefa.

Rabia Anum Responds

An exasperated Rabia responds to the caller saying that she did not understand this request. It meant that they weren’t happy with daughters when daughters are rehmat for the household. She quotes that when Allah is happy it is then he grants a daughter. And the fact that the caller has five shows how much Allah is happy with them.

Loving the daughters

She goes on to refer how she really respects Shahid Afridi and not just because of his sports career or work in welfare but the love that he showers on his daughters.

She further says that loving daughters is a sunnat because Hazrat Muhammad also loved his daughter. Not just that, she recounts instances through which the Prophet (pbuh) would show his love; that he would always get up to greet his daughter out of love and respect; and that when going on a journey, he would meet her last and upon return, she would be the first person he would visit.

Yasir Hussain Criticized For Giving A Ride To A Beggar Kid

Yasir Hussain is known for his antics on and off social media. He is one of the few celebrities who manage to get criticized by the public no matter what he does. However, some times, it is only right to criticize him for his doings.

Recently, Yasir posted an IGTV where he is seen driving his car. However, on the passenger seat, a guy looks like a beggar or a drug addict. Yasir is seen talking to the guy who seems like a conversion about drugs. After filming the video for almost two minutes, Yasir drops him off and then signs off.

The Conversation

During the conversation, Yasir asks the guy why does he opt for drugs, specifically Heroin. He also asks how long the euphoric feeling lasts or if there is any specific reason behind the drug consumption. Moreover, he also asked about the methods of consumption which seems absolutely irrelevant.

The Public’s Criticism

What seems like a general conversation is wrong on so many levels, and the public is calling him out for it. Yasir got criticized on why is he filming the video in the first place? What is the point of posting such a video? Did he take the consent from the guy because it seems like he is hiding the camera to film the video and so on?

However, at the same time, some people criticized him for promoting such things on social media and called him out for stooping so low to get some attention.

The Final Verdict

As we can not judge his intentions behind recording this video. It seems like he did it just for fun. Picking a total stranger from the roadside and giving them a ride in your car is something that is not very safe or is usually avoided. More so, filming someone privately without their consent is not ethical either.

10 Bizarre Beauty Trends That Will Shock You

bizarre beauty trends

The 21st century is riddled with the debate on beauty standards (as it should be). However, a blast from the past can tell us how far we have come. Some of these beauty trends in the previous centuries were mind-blowing and hilarious!

1. Receding Hairlines

The Renaissance period actually preferred receding hairlines. Unlike today, large foreheads were considered beautiful. How did women achieve this? By plucking all the hair out from their foreheads and keeping hair tightly tucked in bonnets.

2. Skull Shaping

By 1000 BC, many tribes were shaping skulls. Perhaps this was the only part of the body that had not fallen victim yet, but then it did. They would strap a child’s skull to a metal mould to cause it to shape this way. Apparently, this was beautiful!

3. Long Fingernails

For the  Qing Dynasty of China, long fingernails did not mean the same as ours. Long actually meant 8-10 inches long! This was considered a symbol of beauty and also wealth because it showed that they had to do nothing at all.

4. Ditch The Eyelashes

Middle age and the Renaissance period were experimenting a lot with hair. Turns out, there was also a phase of no eyelashes where women plucked them away. Thank God this one didn’t stick with us!

5. Black Teeth

Women in Japan would not approve of teeth whitening strips today. Their tradition was based on painting teeth black after marriage for a long time. It was known as Ohaguro and was practised in much of the 19th century.

6. Separated Breasts

As women were wearing corsets and coming into discovering cleavage separated breasts also came through. They were achieved through what is called a ‘divorce corset’. Gone were the days of tight cleavages, women now were found beautiful if they flaunted huge gaps between their breasts.

7. Unibrows

Greeks were huge fans of the unibrows. Lucky for them, they did not have threading issues!

bizarre beauty trends

Previously, the solution for acne was beauty patches. They were made from pricey fabrics like silk or velvet and coated in a gum adhesive to keep them in place. They also came in a variety of decorative shapes including crescents, hearts, and stars which women wore on their faces.

9. Painted Eyebrows

Women of the Tang dynasty in China would paint their eyebrows creatively. In between the brows, they would make colourful decorations called hua dian. Hia Dian was made of specks of gold, silver, and emerald feather.

10. Short Teeth

rt teeth were a trend. The idea was that your teeth should be shorter than the normal length and then you would stand out. Would you sport this trend today?

Azeem Khan Disappears From Social Media After Major Controversy

Often we come across individuals who become famous/known within a few days. Not long ago, Dananeer was one of those individuals. She rose to fame thanks to her ‘Party Horahi Hai’ video. But she has been able to retain her newfound fame. The blogger ensures that even after becoming known all over the country and even in the neighboring country, she finds time to invest in doing good deeds. But not everyone is like her now, are they? Some are like Azeem Khan too.

Azeem Khan and Saba Qamar

Many Pakistanis heard the name of this blogger for the first time in their lives when Saba Qamar accepted his marriage proposal in Insta comments. This led to one of the biggest showbiz controversies 2021 had seen. Many women started warning Saba about the person in question because he did not possess a good track record. They brought forward stories about how he was an anti-feminist who endorsed violence against feminists.

Within a few days where Azeem Khan gained 20k more followers, Saba broke up the relationship.

She took it to Instagram to announce it to the followers. Many celebrities backed her stance and wished her well, however, this triggered a different sentiment in the public. The public began thinking what if this was just a cheap trick for Saba right before her music video and for Azeem to gain some followers.

Where is he now?

The speculations grew but the two people, Saba Qamar and Azeem Khan maintained the position that it was a legit relationship. In fact, Saba Qamar even called this her most adventurous move, ‘getting engaged to someone she had never even met’. But as all controversies and scandals go, the hype faded away and people forgot all about Azeem Khan.

Earlier, when Saba was engaged to him, we had asked and answered the question, “Who is Azeem Khan?” But today, it seems we need to ask, “Where is Azeem Khan?” Yes, you read that right. Weeks after triggering the social media controversy, Azeem Khan is nowhere to be found. We cannot trace his Insta account. He is not on Twitter. And neither can we find the blogger’s Facebook page that is if he had any.

Was this really a cheap stunt by Saba Qamar then? Or was Azeem not able to handle the backlash that followed his past actions?

PM Imran Khan Announces Two New Schemes For Overseas Pakistanis

Imran Khan
Source: Asia Society

Prime Minister Imran Khan believes in the importance of overseas Pakistanis and how their help can be beneficial for the country. For that purpose, he has ensured that there are schemes and processes in place to accommodate them as much as possible to encourage foreign currency inflow.

Imran Khan and Roshan Digital Account

On that note, he initiated Roshan Digital Account (RDA) which allows the Pakistanis residing abroad to have their own bank account in Pakistan. Through that, they can easily conduct financial transactions at lower rates. In the following days, some other schemes were also announced. Recently, PM Imran Khan presented two more schemes and they are truly exciting. The new schemes are Roshan Apni Car Scheme and Samaaji Khidmat Scheme.

Roshan Apni Car and Samaaji Khidmat

In this scheme, overseas Pakistanis will be able to buy cars for their loved ones residing in Pakistan and that too at lower rates. So for instance, usually people have to pay a markup of 12 or 13 percent. But when RDA holders do the purchasing, they can avail it at 7%. So the cars bought through non-resident Pakistanis will be 20% percent cheaper than what a resident Pakistani can buy.

Not to mention that the car will be in the priority delivery category.

The idea of Samaaji Khidmat stems from overseas Pakistanis knowing that a large number of people living in Pakistan are living below poverty lines. And because of that most Pakistanis living abroad want to send donations or pay their obligatory Zakat to Pakistan. However, due to restrictions on sending money to Pakistan, they are unable to do so. Samaaji Khidmat scheme accommodates such Pakistanis in ensuring that they can send money through RDA holders as Zakat or donations. They can also make donations to the government’s Ehsaas program which helps alleviate a number of issues faced by the masses.

In the coming days, hopefully, more Pakistanis will be bringing in foreign currency helping the economy of the country.
