Meet Kiran Ishtiaq – A Differently-Abled Girl Who Didn’t Give Up

Kiran Ishtiaq is a living, breathing miracle and an emblem of determination. Her story shows that if a person wants to do something in life, nothing can hold them back. All one needs is a strong will and the courage to defy naysayers.

Kiran Ishtiaq’s Birth Condition

By birth, Ishtiaq was born without hands and feet. She recalls that her family told her people used to suggest abortion to her mother. “How will you raise her? She will not survive.” The repeated suggestions of abortion, however, fell on deaf ears and she was born.

In her adolescence, this was proven true. Kiran Ishtiaq did indeed not have hands and feet. She recalls how in her childhood, she was a spectacle for everyone. People used to gossip about her and even come to especially see her. 

Abandoned By One, Loved By Others

Many people still continued to ask her parents why they are still raising this child. They viewed this little girl with a disability as a burden. Kiran Ishtiaq also notes that her mother abandoned her when she was 6 months old.

After that, her two paternal aunts, who were studying at the time, starting caring for her. They left their studies to take care of their niece and never looked back. It was from them that Kiran learnt to love education. Today, she’s an inspiration for all.

Matric First Division

Kiran Ishtiaq used to see other girls study normally and wished the same for herself. Her school was not supportive either and did not aid her in getting admission to a college. She home-tutored herself without any extra help and ended up coming in Matrics first division!

This girl writes with a pen gripped by her mouth and neck but that does not hold her back. She is doing her BSc in English and has hopes and dreams that she is determined to fulfil.

Getting There

However, though her achievements keep rolling in, life is still not easy for her. Kiran Ishtiaq still avoids going to family functions because people gather around her. She says that they talk about her in front of her and make a spectacle out of her.

She is only gaining confidence now as she does more interviews. Kiran Ishtiaq is an inspiration to all those who are differently-abled and think they can not do anything. We hope all of her dreams come true, she deserves nothing less.

Cricket fans are just as obsessed with their favourite cricketer’s personal lives as they are with their skills. After all, one is always eager to know what their celebrity idol’s life has been life. Have a look at these cricketers who changed their religion during their cricket careers.

1. Mohammad Yousuf

Did you know, the former Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf was the first Christian batsman of Pakistan. He changed the game as soon as he entered it however, he converted to Islam later. He changed his name from Yousuf Youhana to Mohammad Yousuf in 2005.

Mohammad Yousaf also encouraged his wife to convert and she changed her name from Tania to Fatima. 

 2. Mahmudul Hasan

Mahmudul Hasan is a 28-year old Bangladesh cricketer. He is considered a legend in his country and took part in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup squad. Hasan was responsible for successfully leading Bangladesh in 2009 during their home series against Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and England.

Mahmudul Hasan used to be a Muslim who later converted to Hinduism.

3. Tillakaratne Dilshan

Dilshan was the former captain and opening batsman of Sri Lanka. He was born in a Malaysian family that followed Islam. He is best known for his career because as a cricketer, there was nothing he couldn’t do. At birth, he was given the name of Taiwan Mohammad Dilshan.

However, at the age of 16, his parents got separated after which he led a tumultuous life. During this period, he chose the religion of his mother which was Buddhism. Since then, his name is  Tillakaratne Dilshan.

4. Suraj Randiv

Randiv is a Sri Lankan Cricketer who’s had remarkable moments in his career. He is always remembered for his No-Ball to Virender Sehwag. Sehwag was batting on 99* with the Indian team and required one run to win the game. However, Randiv turned the game upside down.

Suraj Randiv’s name used to be Mohammed Marsuk Suraj. However, due to personal reasons, he changed his religion to Buddhism. Now, he is always known as Suraj Randiv rather than Mohammed Suraj.

Pakistan is ranked at number 5 on the scale of most populated countries in the world with more than 220 million people. That is not the part to be worried about. China is the most populated country and yet, their lifestyle is better than most others. It is how you allocate your resources to get the most return from it, that is worrisome. In today’s piece, we will talk with reference to resource allocation for the Green Line project.

Karachi and its budget

Almost a month ago, we made a video highlighting the budgetary allocation of Karachi and Lahore. It was not aimed to be a comparison, but most viewers found it so. In that video, we mentioned how Karachi has a 16.1 million population as documented by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics in 2017. Being the most populated city of Pakistan, the visuals showed that it does not get the relevant budget to ensure all the facilities are up to date.

Green Line Project

Of course, it is not like Karachi does not get any funding or projects. While we were making this video, the deadlines of the Green Line bus were being forecasted. Now, the deadline stands at some time next month. The government officials said that it would be a 35-kilometer corridor with almost 80 buses.

While in conversation about this project, a publication, Arab News asked experts about what major changes can this project bring to Karachi? Experts that included Dr. Noman Ahmed, professor, and dean of the faculty of architecture and management sciences at the NED University, said that it would not even accommodate 7 to 8 percent of the population.

He added that the budget for constructing all seven corridors (other than the Green Line project) has exceeded PKR 170 billion.

So, money is being spent on Karachi, yes. And that too, an insane amount of money. But how much is it accommodating Karachiites? Shouldn’t there be a proper strategy to ensure that the money spent helps the most people?

When people started questioning why the model had covered her eye, she finally opened up. In an Instagram story, she revealed that the reason she hid her eye was because of allergies! She got an allergic reaction to something in the morning. As a result, her eye was all swollen and red.

Sabeeka Imam shared that she was left with two options after her eye betrayed her. It was either making a style statement and covering up that eye with a hairstyle or wearing an eye patch. Ahoy captain! But whatever the case, she was not going to miss the event. HSA got cancelled the last year, she was not going to miss out on 2 years.

As it turns out, Sabeeka Imam went with the former option. Her hairstylist and her whipped up a hairstyle that was a style statement but also covered up the eye.

[Update]: Yesterday, Asim Azhar was part of an instantly going viral rumour that he got engaged in a very private ceremony. The person he was being paired with was Merub Ali.

Before he addressed it, however, some people unearthed a screenshot where Asim Azhar was conversing with a fan. In that screenshot, he had allegedly written, he considered Merub his sister. KitKat’s Recent Campaign Takes ‘Break’ A Bit Too Literally

Famously known for their slogan, “Have a break, have a KitKat,” the brand has used their slogan in yet another OOH campaign. In this campaign, you can see a red banner that has the slogan printed on it. However, in place of break, it has an empty space where they have tied a hammock.

Equating lying on the hammock as a break, the brand reminds its target audience of its slogan. But how effective is this advertising? This is a question that we will be asking today.

While we acknowledge that this is a creative way of conveying the message, is it iconic that people in workplaces or educational institutions would be daydreaming about KitKat? Not to forget, these are covid times. Considering this message will not leave any permanent or semi-permanent imprints on the mind, it should at least serve the purpose of short-duration breaks. But is it recommended to use that hammock if someone else has used it before you? What are the chances that they sanitized it after getting off?

Other OOH campaigns

Looking at this advertising, it reminds me of the time when a soft drink conducted an OOH campaign. They place a particular vending machine on a college campus. When the tired students would come and ring up one drink, they would keep getting more and more. The smiles and laughs that the customer and the other students shared were phenomenal as they all shared the extra drinks. Isn’t that just great, having shared laughs, amid an anxious day?

It also reminds me of yet another OOH campaign involving a vending machine. Instead of money, the machine dealt in hugs. The bigger the hug, the more the chance of getting a drink. So, strangers would pool in their efforts and hug the machine together. And when the machine would give the drink, the sense of achievement on the people’s faces would be clearly evident.

Coming back to KitKat, this particular campaign does no such thing. Maybe resharing it on social media would bring a smile or two but that’s about it. If it was going to serve this purpose only, maybe they should not have made it out to be OOH but rather a digital campaign.

While we decide which platform was better, “Have a break, have a KitKat,” on that very same hammock.

The Google Play Store is home to some of our favourite applications. From Instagram, Facebook, to Messenger and Whatsapp, the store has it all. Additionally, if you are skilled enough, you can make and upload applications too. However, this ability brings with it a crowd of unwanted people. They may construct such applications that retrieve your personal data when you use them or download them.

Google Playstore Crackdown

According to sources, these nine applications were hidden under generic names. These names were of everyday use applications and utilities. Dr Web is the name of an antivirus service that detected these applications. The names of the malicious applications are,

  • Processing Photo
  • App Lock Keep
  • Rubbish Cleaner
  • Horoscope Daily
  • Horoscope Pi
  • App Lock Manager
  • Lockit Master
  • Inwell Fitness
  • PIP Photo

If you have heard of any of these applications, it must be known that they had malicious intentions. However, they have now been removed from the store and one has no reason to fear them now.

Privacy Concerns

These applications were stealing user credentials. These are the login credentials to Facebook that the apps were stealing. According to statistics, more than 5 million downloads had already been done on the apps. Who knows how long had they been stealing this data? However, cracking down has really made an impact as the credentials are now safe.

These applications basically tricked users into showing them fake Facebook login pages. From there, they stole the data from hundreds of thousands of people. While the apps have been removed, the security concern remains. We are left wondering how many more applications are doing this. Is anything safe? We should have care before using any of the applications and check reviews as well as product interface. Sometimes, a difference in letters can give away a fake or a login page.

Twitter On Fire As Handful Pakistanis Reject Domestic Violence Bill

In recent news, the Senate passed a bill that did not sit well with a certain group. It was the Domestic Violence Bill; set in place for the protection of women, children, and citizens who cannot protect themselves. They could have included the physically disabled, the elderly, and the mentally challenged. However, this human rights bill got major opposition not from the government or the party in opposition but the people who pride themselves on upholding Islamic values.

Rejecting the Domestic Violence Bill

Taking their argument further and making sure it was heard were Analyst Ansar Abbasi, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) member Mushtaq Ahmed, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) member Atta-ur-Rehman, and PML-N member Rana Maqbool.

Ansar Abbasi even took to Twitter initiating the trending hashtag, “We_Reject_Domestic_Violence_Bill_2021”.

Azhar Siddique also tweeted, documenting his support to Ansar abbasi. Being a human rights lawyer, people were infuriated at it. They said that as a human rights lawyer, he clearly cares less and less about human rights. This argument has weight considering when women were marching for their basic rights, he was going to courts to have it banned. And now, when the people, mostly women, children and elderly will be getting their right to exist safely in their own houses, he is getting the bill rejected.

Some Pakistanis were rallying behind these influential personalities as well. Taking pictures of the clauses from the bill they were twisting the essence of the bill. So for instance, a right that Islam also upholds was in the bill; woman not being forced to live with in-laws or any one else besides her husband. Here, since it suited men, they put religion behind and brought culture forward. Apparently, giving women this right would mean destroying our society, our culture.

Twitter rejects the rejection

The rest of Twitter was angry at what had happened. They were not only angry at how influential Pakistanis like celebrated journalists and human rights lawyers were rejecting the bill but also how PM Imran Khan gave way under pressure.

The PM asked Mr. Babar Awan to ensure that the ‘approved’ bill was referred to the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII). When CII clears the bill, then they will enforce it. However, the issue Twitter is raising is that the CII is comprised of 12 men and they will be bringing a biased point of view. A better way would have been to formulate a team that represents all parties equally.

The fight with the bill protestors continued as the other group continued to throw shade at them. According to them, only those directly affected by the bills, the abusers, would find the bill problematic.

Pakistanis gave excuses as to why they believed the bill was facing this level of protest.

Long story short, something that would have been a major achievement for our society was hindered. While Twitteratis can list down reasons why that happened, it still did. And we are not sure how long it will take for our society to recover from this setback.

Talk about bizarre ways to bunk the school? Most of us have been through the same where we tried to fake our fever or stomachache to spend the day at home. However, kids in the UK are now taking it to the next level by faking a COVID test.

Latest TikTok Hack For COVID 

TikTok is at the rescue for students who want to learn the tip for faking the coronavirus test. A video that has now received a viewership of 6.5 million is going viral on TikTok. Moreover, students are trying to fake a covid test in hopes of skipping school. Apple juice, apple cider vinegar, kiwi extract, and Cola works best to fake the lateral flow tests. The videos are uploaded under the #fakecovidtest hashtag.

Education Leaders Warns 

Education leaders have warned that the practice is “massively unhelpful.” Since schools already battle to keep education going amid outbreaks.

According to Geoff Barton, General Secretary of the Association of School and College, “We are sure this involves a tiny minority of pupils, and that for the most part the tests are used correctly.“

“However, we would urge parents to ensure that tests are not being misused, and we would suggest to pupils who are interested in chemical reactions that the best place to learn about them is in chemistry lessons in school.”

How does The COVID Test work?

It’s worth understanding how the tests work. The LFT contains a strip of paper-like material on an LFT device, called nitrocellulose, and a small red pad, hidden under the plastic casing below the T-line. The red pad contains antibodies that bind to the Covid-19 virus. The sample is mixed with a buffer to maintain its pH before it is put on the strip.

The fluid wicks up the nitrocellulose strip and picks up the antibodies. The antibodies bind to the virus if present. If the virus is attached to both sets of antibodies, including the (T and C) lines, the test is positive.

So how do soft drinks work?

On idea is that the drinks contain something that the antibodies recognize and bind to, just as they do to the virus. However, a much more likely explanation is that something in the drinks is affecting the function of the antibodies.

The acidic drinks contain very low pH, disrupting the antibodies exposed to them since the buffer is not there to neutralize the acid. This results in the denaturation of proteins. As a result, the protein will not work correctly, giving a false positive test.

Furious Pakistanis Rally To Ban Hum Style Awards Finding It Vulgar

Hum Style Awards have not even aired, but the pictures that emerged yesterday and the day before yesterday were enough to infuriate Pakistanis. It is still unclear whether they were instructed to keep the theme western or not, but the dress code did seem Hollywood-inspired. And the audience outright rejected it. At first, Pakistanis were only bashing one or two celebrities, but when they saw almost everyone in a similar dress code, the hashtag Ban Hum Style Awards started trending.

Reasons for bashing

Weirdly though, the reason everyone presented was the same and yet different. It sounds strange. Let’s explore this a bit.

It is clear that the main reason for this trend was how celebrities were dressed; here, they were united. But why did people find the dressing vulgar, here the reasons were separated?

Some people found the dressing un-Islamic, while others found it not relating to the South Asian culture. Some self-proclaimed fashionistas also delved into the scientific reasonings; apparently, the western dresses do not fit people with South Asian bodies.

Twitter trends with Ban Hum Style Awards

Twitterati wanted to school the celebrities and the award organizers that being open-minded or proving that they are modern does not have to be done through vulgar clothes.  And if you cannot carry those clothes well, then they should definitely not be ‘allowed to wear such garments. While Ayesha Omar definitely carried her dress well, the rest were uncomfortable in the emerging videos.

Most celebrities also spoke up seeing these images. They, in fact, called the event worthy of the caption, ‘RIP fashion sense.’ These celebrities included Bilal Qureshi, Iffat Umar, and Nazish Jehangir, among others.

Seemi Raheel also shared her opinion on the matter. She said that being modern does not come from how you dress; it comes from the mind and education. So why did the dress code not reflect our cultural identity?

Creating parallel (as we always do), Twitter also shared the pictures from the time Duchess Cambridge Kate Middleton visited Pakistan. They said that if foreigners can respect our culture when they visit, why can’t we do the same when we are in our country? Of course, by this argument, these critics cannot question our actresses when they dress up in western dresses when traveling, or can they?

Apple is certainly a front-runner in many domains. Stepping into their world means one is in for quite a ride. They have been releasing phones for quite a while now. The Differences In 12 Mini And SE

If we take a look at the two iPhones, we might notice some considerable differences. Firstly, the iPhone SE screen is smaller, but the size is generally bigger than iPhone 12 Mini. The 2020 SE version was released in April and is currently the iPhone with the smallest screen. While the 12 mini sits at 5.4 inches, the counterpart is at 4.7 inches. While people love a small display, they may not want a display that is too small.

However, the iPhone SE has similar durability as the iPhone 8, which cracked at a drop test of 5 feet.

Additional Differences

So far, the iPhone 12 Mini steps ahead in quite a few domains, but it is also much more expensive than the iPhone SE. Apart from that, the latter has one camera on its rear whereas the former has two. If you are a fan of photography, we will urge you to check out the iPhone 12 mini.

This comparison shows us that, while costlier, it is definitely ahead in technology and performance. However, if your budget allows for an SE and a nostalgic factor, it is not a bad investment. You can always use this one and upgrade later on. It should be noted that the price gap is nearly $300, so it must be carefully considered.

GM Sales & Marketing Mr. Malik Muhammad Adnan Shares His Views At 4th CKD Launch in Pakistan, Hyundai Sonata

2nd July 2021 witnessed the exclusive preview of Hyundai Sonata in the commercial hub of Pakistan, Karachi. On this occasion, Brandsynario got an opportunity to speak to Hyundai Pakistan’s General Manager Sales and Marketing Division, Mr. Malik Muhammad Adnan.

Discussing the launch of the all-new, 8th Generation Sonata, we asked Mr. Malik Adnan what he sees in terms of the path of the company.

To answer this, he delved into the technicalities of the consumer base in Pakistan and how new entrants are exploring new avenues of the market. He said that Hyundai Sonata is an amazing product belonging to a category that did not even exist in Pakistan. So, with this product, Hyundai Nishat Motor has entered a niche market segment of luxury sedans. According to him, in this category, there were only CBUs (Completely Built-Up) available in the market and customers had to face problems in After Sales support for these imported units in addition to the unusually high price tags.

“We are not only launching a product, but we are basically creating a new base of the customer in the market of D-Category Sedan”.

Considering almost all major auto brands are now focusing on electric cars, we asked him about their plans for it. He had the most positive response to it and informed us that they are watching the way the industry is going to progress. Mr. Malik Adnan further elaborated and said that this means the policies and the government initiatives related to the automotive industry need to be there to support the industry to establish its basis and market demand.

On being asked about any recent milestone that Hyundai has achieved, Mr. Malik Adnan said that it was being able to excellently execute its operations even during the COVID-19 pandemic. The GM Sales and Marketing Division said that through the vision of the Chairman and the CEO, they were able to launch vehicles like Tucson, Elantra, and now, Sonata in a span of just eleven months; an unprecedented feat in Pakistan! This shows the commitment of Hyundai Nishat to the Pakistani automotive market.

Sonata is going to create an impact on people’s lives and their experiences. It is in fact going to create a whole new segment in the industry. Not only that but there will also be numerous employment opportunities as these high-tech vehicles are being assembled locally in Pakistan.

2. Ali Xeeshan

Matching the theme of magic, Ali Xeeshan was seen in robes, a crown, and a Merlin magic wand. Can someone ask them what the theme was; Harry Potter or Merlin?

3. Sonya Hussyn

Did she look pretty or not, let’s not comment on that. But did she look comfortable with her own dressing? Definitely not? Constantly fidgeting in every video; either she felt out of place because of the people hovering around her giving uncomfortable looks or she was just not comfortable in that dress, this is something only she can tell.

She went simple with a pink suit but it was just not attractive.
