Popular Pakistani Clothing Brand Under Fire For Controversial Prints!

Popular clothing retailer, Nishat Linen is known for its good quality, colorful and vibrant prints and is a brand that people respect and love for years in the Pakistani fashion industry.

However, a recent incident has come to light that has angered people towards the mighty brand. A newly launched print in Nishat’s pret wear collection has hurt the sentiments of a Pakistani national as the images on the clothing item have caused disrespect to certain religious beliefs.

Here’s what a Nishat customer complained of their official Facebook page.

“A few days ago, I came across this Nishat Linen design which looked good in a glance so i bought it. Yesterday my sister pointed out portraits of Hindu Gods on it. “

She further mentioned how unethical this was on Nishat Linen’s part.

“We live in a free society and we respect our minorities, everyone has the right to wear whatever he wants or the company to print whatever they like but the fact that we live in an Islam dominant society and wearing this is Haram. People got to say prayer/recite Quran. This is highly unethical and against the standards of society on part of NL not to intimate the customers about this before buying.”

Read her complete post here!

The Nishat ready to wear ‘Kurta’ with the portraits of Hindu gods printed on them.

After the customer raised her concerns over social media, it created an uproar and many chanted the ‘ban Nishat’ slogan as well.

Some also encouraged others to stop buying from the brand!

Nishat Linen has not yet responded to the allegations made by the customer.

Pakistan Among 18 Countries Tied with WhatsApp Adult Group!

Child Pornography is a serious topic, and its need to abolished from its roots, there is no second opinion on this! However, the net is spread as far and wide as we cannot even imagine.

Indian Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a man in India, who is involved in running an international child porn network through WhatsApp. The 20-year-old man was arrested on the charges of uploading and circulating the content online.

During the investigation, it was found that the group had 119 members, which belonged to 18 different countries, including Pakistan. Other countries included Mexico, New Zealand, United States, China, Afghanistan, Kenya, India itself, and others.

The agency said it is probing all angles, including the possibility of a well-connected network of recording and selling the child sexual abuse videos on the internet. The CBI said the WhatsApp group ‘KidsXXX’ was running for the past two years. The agency added that the minor victims appearing in the videos and photos are still unidentified.

“We arrested the administrator of the WhatsApp group and recovered computer hardware and mobiles phones used to upload and store the videos and pictures” – CBI

The accused is a commerce graduate and was arrested in his home in Kannuaj, Uttar Pradesh. The police are still on the search for 4 other suspects and admins of the same group involved in spreading such shameful and illegal content.

The CBI has said that they will reach out to seek assistance from other countries whose citizens are members of the group.

It is high time we ask ourselves, are we doing enough for our children?

Leading Burger Eatery Launches ‘Animal Fries’ & People Have Mixed Reactions

The omnipresence of fast-food joints is at its peak in Pakistan. And to fight this over-bearing cut-throat competition, eateries have now been spotted following the trend of rolling out gastronomical innovations to keep their fans hooked to the menu.

Lately, the craze of Pizza Fries has taken over the nation. Then last month, OPTP unveiled chocolate fries only to ignite a massive social media brouhaha!

Following its league, McDonald’s unveiled 4 new flavors i.e. Lemon & Chilli, Nacho Cheese With Jalapeno, Garlic Mayo and BBQ fries to raise its french-fry game.

And now, Burger Lab has entered the arena with a startling innovation that has created a splash on social media.

The brand has unveiled a new variant of fried potatoes called ‘Animal Fries’

Burger Lab unleashed the wild side of it.Introducing Animal Fries, the most appetizing monster for your wildest food…

Posted by Burger Lab on Tuesday, February 20, 2018

Of course, many people in Pakistan might have never heard the term ‘Animal Fries’. However, the dish is quite popular in America, introduced by a popular burger chain  ‘In-N-Out Burger’

But what really does it mean?

Branded as the greatest fast food invention in recent history, animal fries is a delicacy topped with flavorsome fixings like melted cheese, grilled onions and probably a tangy secret sauce.

Seems like a belly bomb right?

Via Google

However, the nation’s social media seems very dubious about the dish!

Everybody is hating the bizarre name!

People are finding the ‘janwar’ element pretty disrespectful!

Foodies are demanding the name to be changed!

But someone was actually aware of the concept behind Animal Fries!

If you think about it, the dish sounds pretty mouth-watering. You may turn your nose up at it initially, but it’s likely that the loaded fries are worth having.

However, masses appear clueless regarding its branding as its cultural insensitive, making it a possible media fail.

Nevertheless, the innovation has become a talk of the town and that’s what the brand really wanted!

Will you be trying the animal fries at Burger Lab? Let us know in the comments below.

PSL 2018 Opening Ceremony: Hareem Farooq Gets Trolled For Her Desi Look

Just when we thought that all was glorious at PSL 2018 Opening ceremony, Hareem Farooq begged to differ!

The Parchi diva was over the moon for receiving the honor to host the prestigious occasion. She kept her fans updated with her candid pictures and preparation details ever since she stepped foot in Dubai!

But ahoy! If only the starlet gave us an all a heads up about her outfit for the evening.

Much to our dismay, Farooq became a laughing stock for bringing out the desi quotient on the stage.

Flaunting, a traditional Nomi Ansari ensemble and jewelry by Esfir Jewels, the actress’s look backfired badly.

If the reactions on Twitter are to be believed, Hareem resembled the PSL trophy itself in her glittery style statement.

Twitterverse thinks that the chamakta dhamakta suit was a BIG No-no for the sports ceremony!

The fashion police were outraged at her sartorial choice

People are demanding the stylist to be immediately sacked!

And viewers even hated her hosting skills!

Ouch!

However, there was a bunch of people who lauded her for not opting for a Western attire!

Her fans rooted her being so much more Pakistani!

Do you think it’s fair? It’s just an outfit after all!

We all have to admit that the outfit was pretty classic! But Hareem could have turned heads by opting for a sleek and sophisticated choice of apparel!

The superstar could have adorned her Nomi Ansari outfit more royally and elegantly at maybe a Mehndi!

Let’s just all give the poor soul a break.

Pakistani Students to Compete in Singapore as Shell’s Make the Future Festival Returns

Make the Future Singapore, a free festival of bright energy ideas and innovations for Asia will take place at Singapore’s Changi Exhibition Centre from March 8 to 11, 2018. Returning to Singapore for the second year, the public festival will be a platform for conversation, collaboration, and innovation around the global energy challenge: how to generate more energy while producing less CO2 emissions.

At Make the Future Singapore, virtual reality and hands-on experiences will take visitors on a journey to explore bright ideas from around Asia, see what is happening now to power our world and get a glimpse of what the future of energy might look like.

They will be able to discover what it’s like to generate electrical energy by dancing, play interactive games, build and race mini saltwater cars, and meet young scientists and energy start-ups.

Headlining the festival is Shell Eco-marathon Asia, where over 120 student teams from 18 countries across Asia Pacific and the Middle East will put their self-built energy-efficient cars to the test.

One of the world’s longest-running student competitions, Shell Eco-marathon is a global programme that challenges bright student minds to design and build ultra-energy-efficient cars, and then put them to the test in competition.

Pakistan will again be participating in Shell Eco-marathon Asia, with a contingent of 10 futuristic cars from 07 universities competing to be the most energy-efficient. Some of the teams participating are:

Team Urban Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, category: Urban Concept ICE (Gasoline), Team Innova, University Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences, category: Urban Concept Vehicle, Team Mech the Tech,  Air University, category: Battery Electric, while two Teams participating from National University of Sciences & Technology, Karachi include PNEC-NUST-URBAN, and PNEC-NUST-PROTOTYPE, in the  Gasoline and Battery Electric category respectively

Shell Eco-marathon Asia will include two key competitions this year. The longest running competition is the Mileage Challenge where teams compete to travel the farthest on the least amount of fuel. In 2017, the winning team of the Asian leg was efficient enough to travel 2,289 kilometers – the distance from Singapore to Chiang Mai, Thailand –on just one liter of fuel!

The second Shell Eco-marathon competition to take place this year in Singapore is Drivers’ World Championship Asia. Introduced to the Shell Eco-marathon programme in 2016, Drivers’ World Championship challenges the best Urban Concept teams to combine the proven energy efficiency of their car with the speed and skill of their driver, in a race to see who can cross the finish line first on the least amount of fuel.

For the first time, Shell Eco-marathon Asia will welcome entrants from Kazakhstan, which will be represented by two universities. Students from Kazakhstan National Technical University will compete with a unique ethanol-powered car designed to perform under extreme weather and temperature conditions, mirroring Kazakhstan’s diverse climate which ranges from -40C in winter to +40C in summer.

Twitter Sets Crackdown on Automated ‘bot’ Accounts

Twitter announced Wednesday a crackdown on accounts powered by software “bots” which can artificially amplify a person or cause and which have been accused of manipulating the social network during the 2016 US election.

The San Francisco messaging platform said the move was intended to rid the service of spam-spewing automated accounts, and not aimed at people using the service according to the rules.

“These changes are an important step in ensuring we stay ahead of malicious activity targeting the crucial conversations taking place on Twitter — including elections in the United States and around the world,” Twitter developer policy lead Yoel Roth said in a blog post.

The move was the latest by Twitter to enforce rules aimed at curbing disinformation, propaganda and provocation.

Since the 2016 election, Twitter and others discovered how “bots” had been used to sow political divisions and spread hoaxes.

“One of the most common spam violations we see is the use of multiple accounts and the Twitter developer platform to attempt to artificially amplify or inflate the prominence of certain tweets,” Roth wrote.

“To be clear: Twitter prohibits any attempt to use automation for the purposes of posting or disseminating spam, and such behavior may result in enforcement action.”

Posting duplicative content, replies, or mentions from an array of accounts one controls, by hand or by bot, is forbidden, according to Twitter.

Sheheryar Munawar & Priyanka Chopra’s Picture Goes Viral!

There’s no denying the fact that the people of India and Pakistan want peace but the never ending tensions between both the countries has led to some serious consequences, including the ban of Pakistani actors working in Indian films.

Fans in both the countries were happy to see their favorite Pakistani stars working in Bollywood. Those were the days when celebrated directors like Karan Johar worked with Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan! Seeing Sajal Aly appearing alongside Sridevi and Saba Qamar winning the hearts of Indians with her impeccable performance in Hindi Medium made Pakistanis prouder than ever.

Sidharth Malhotra Just Sent Out the CUTEST Shout Out to Pakistanis & Fawad Khan!

But then came the ban on Pakistani artists by the Indian government, breaking the hearts of hundreds and hundreds of people. But as it’s said: When there’s will, there’s way… the ban exists, but it doesn’t mean that Pakistani and Indian actors cannot appear on screen together.

The famous filmmaker Asim Raza shared a picture on his Instagram that just blew our minds away! Check out his post!

So can you spot what are we talking about?

Well, there’s Pakistani heartthrob Sheheryar Munawar and Bollywood’s queen Priyanka Chopra sharing the screen together with their team, which means that they are teaming up for a project.

Here’s what Asim Raza wrote:

“The nice thing about teamwork is that you always have others on your side.”

So have they collaborated for a movie, an advertisement, a short film?

We contacted filmmaker Asim Raza regarding this to which he responded that this picture is from an old Q Mobile advertisement, and not from an upcoming project.

Sigh! Well, too bad. We were really excited to see the Ho Mann Jahaan boy with the Quantico girl!

Federal Cabinet Declares SRO 1067(1) as Invalid; Restores Old Policy

In an interesting turn of events, the federal cabinet has declared SRO 1067(1)/2017 as invalid.

Also, FBP has instructed for the 10,000 stranded vehicles at Karachi port to be released under the old import policy.

Earlier, it was reported that 7,000 vehicles were stuck at the port, however, the new figure which came forth was 10,000. the cabinet has decided to reissue the older policy which was previously used to import vehicles.

According to RS Tech, under SRO 1067(1)/2017, it was approved that the duty and taxes of all vehicles that are imported under transfer of residence, personal baggage or under gift scheme will come from abroad.

Either arranged by Pakistani nationals or local recipient showing the conversion of foreign remittance to local currency through bank encashment certificate.

In layman terms the customs duty and taxes should be paid in Dollar not Rupee; however, with the issuance of old policy the taxes and the customs duty of the cars will again be paid in Rupee.

Importers had boycotted the new auto policy which was recently introduced in October 2017. As a result, the importers refused to remove their vehicles from the port unless and until the old policy was reverted.

What do you think about the government’s decision?

Lux Style Awards 2018: Best & Worst Dressed Celebrities!

The event of the year, Lux Style Awards 2018 were held last night in Lahore, it was a star-studded affair and truly a night to remember! Celebrities, models, and people from the fashion and entertainment industry dressed to impress. From classy gowns to dapper suits the night was full of glitz and glamour.

Check out who made it to Brandsynario’s list of best-dressed celebrities at the LSA 2018!

Ayesha Omar

Just returning from NewYork, the actress dazzled in this gold gown easily becoming the star of the night!

Sanam Saeed & Adnan Malik

The Cake cast looked uber chic at the LSA! We absolutely love the powder pink gown on Sanam Saeed.

Amna Baber

Supermodel Amna Baber rocked the monochrome gown at the red carpet. Congratulations to the beauty on bagging the best model award too!

Sadaf Kanwal

The model looked absolutely stunning in a cold shoulder blue, silk ensemble by Zaheer Abbas.

Mahira Khan

The diva ditched a western styled gown and opted for traditional attire. Khan kept it classy in this Faraz Manan ensemble and a sleek hairdo!

Mathira

We loved this regal maroon dress by Mansoor Akram Couture that Mathira adorned for the night.

While some truly stood out from the rest, other celebrities didn’t quite ‘wow’ us with their choice of attire for the night and looked just ‘meh’.

Hamza Ali Abbasi

We’d like to see Abbasi in something else apart from his signature Black shalwar kameez!

Ahad Raza Mir

The uber-hot newcomer has already stolen the hearts of ladies across the country, but we’re not sure we could say the same for his choice of clothing!

Urwa Hocane

Going for the extra ‘oomph’ factor but sadly, the elder Hocane sister wasn’t quite able to pull off this shimmery sheer-back outfit by Mohsin Naveed Ranjha.

Aamna Sheikh

The Cake actress was dressed in a silver-grey ensemble which in our case had too much going on due to the bling and the frilly bottom. Is it just us, or does the front half resemble a chandelier?

Worst Dressed Celebrities At the Lux Style Awards

Mawra Hocane

Sahifa Jabbar

Winning the award for the best emerging talent of the year. She chose to send out a powerful message through her outfit however, we expected the model turned actress to have a better choice in the wardrobe department.

Is that a skirt over a skirt?!! We’re pretty sure the fashion police can’t let go of those shiny red boots!

Meera

Veteran actress Meera-ji didn’t quite surprise us with her choice of attire this time around either! The charcoal grey ensemble had too much going on!

Hadiqa Kiani

The grey overall resembling dress was a big NO-NO and too plain for an event like the LSA’s.

Ali Xeeshan

The quirky designer definitely stood out from the rest, we’re not sure it was in a good way. The bird’s nest on his head has us confused, was it a bird show he was attending in a bathrobe?

Amna Ilyas

The dusky beauty didn’t quite meet the mark in the sheer olive gown by Fahad Hussayn she chose for the night. Better luck next time?

Which of the looks of the night did you love or hate? Let us know in the comments below.
