Jazz xlr8 Launches Xperience Hub – A Cutting Edge Usability Testing Facility

Here’s why Pakistani Students have Called for a Students Solidarity March
Merely a few weeks ago a video surfaced from the Faiz Festival at Alhamra Lahore, where a group of students was performing one of Faiz’s famous poetry in the most eccentric manner. They were heard chanting “Surfaroshi ki Tamana Ab hamary Dil main hai”, which particularly resonates with their state of denial to basic rights.
That group of students is the force behind Student Solidarity March with solid motives and ambitions. They become the voice of Pakistani youth to highlight the issues faced by them on a regular base.
Their demands are nothing fancy but very minimal! Basic education made affordable for everyone, removing the ban from student’s union and no more budget cuts for higher education are few of them.
The student’s union ban dated back to 35years, when former military ruler Zia-ul-Haq barred the gathering of students at the campus of colleges and universities to demand their rights. And the ban continued to silence many voices for 35 years. Now the students are united and are very loud and clear about their rights. Their demands include:
- Lift the ban and hold elections for student unions
- Abandon privatization of educational institutes, and reverse a recent decision of school and college fee hike
- The state should pledge free education for all
- No more budget cuts for the Higher Education Commission, or sacking of educational staff
- At least five percent of the GDP should be allocated for education
- Abolish the semester system
- Lift a ban on students from participating in political activities
- End the intervention (in the name of national security) of security forces in educational institutions, and release all students held captive
- Establish committees to investigate incidents of sexual harassment, and ensure women are made a part of the setup
- All universities should have a library, hostel and provide transport and an internet connection
- Modernize education systems according to the modern scientific requirements
- Set up schools and colleges in lesser developed areas, and increase the quota of students coming from outside main cities
- Establish research centers for a transition from fossil fuel energy to renewable energy in public sector universities
- Announce April 13 as a national holiday to honor Mashal Khan
After knowing all these demands we approached the organizer of Progressive Students Collective and Haqooq-e-Khalq Movement to know the inspiration behind this Students Solidarity March.
What motivates us to start this revolutionary campaign are the lives that we have been forced to lead. Days on campus are ordeals that make us go through severe forms of torture. The quality of our education is taking a nose dive while the cost of education has never been this high in the university. The students are facing a lot of trouble for raising their voices and just a few days ago, Punjab University canceled a degree of an M.Phill student just because he was an active member of the Progressive Students Federation of Pakistan. This unjust act by the University of Punjab has been condemned on a government level. The Minister of Human Rights expressed her exasperation in her latest tweet.

World’s Cheapest Electric Car ‘Zetta’ to be Launched in 2020
Russia is gearing up to officially launch the world’s cheapest electric car in 2020.
Reportedly, the car is Russia’s first domestically-made electric vehicle and is called Zetta (Zero Emission Terra Transport Asset).
The car is now in the final stages. Zetta will be manufactured by Russian Engineering and Manufacturing Сompany (REMC).
REMC is a privately funded startup that was founded three years ago with an investment of around 450 million rubles ($7 million).
Initially, the company will start production with an annual capacity of 15,000 units a year.
Moreover, reports suggest that the Zetta EV would be priced around $7,000. Hence, making it the cheapest of its class in the world, on par with other sub-$10,000 models such as Renault City K-ZE and Ora R1.
The four in-wheel hub induction electric motors provide it a nominal power of 46 horsepower and max 97 hp with a 10-kilowatt battery to power it offering a 200km driving range.
The battery will be imported from China, the other components will be assembled within the country itself.

Facebook is Paying User $600 for Using Their ‘Viewpoints’ Application!
Facebook is ready to fill your wallets with as much as $600 if you use their new application called ‘Facebook Viewpoints’.
In return, the company wants you to participate in tasks like taking surveys, completing tasks, and doing a bit of research.
These insights will be used throughout the company’s portfolio, including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook proper.
According to the company, the best way to get insights is by the people themselves. The user will have to sign up by creating an account to join programs.
The first available program is a survey that investigates how social media affects your well-being.

Pakistani Peacekeeper Awarded Highest Level UN Certification for Her Services
Pride of Pakistan, Major Saima Rehman is awarded the highest certification from the UN for her remarkable services in peacekeeping missions at the UN.
This is the first time any of the Pakistani females has been awarded an SRSG Certificate in the line of duty. Major Saima Rehman is recognized for her exemplary performance in the Mission level studies, analysis and a number of other valuable contributions for UN Peacekeeping.
She was nominated for the UN special representative for the Secretary-General certification of the year.
Her achievement was highlighted on the Monusco Southern Sector official twitter account via a tweet also highlighting her discipline in the line duty.

Pakistan has been a part of UN Peacekeeping forces for a long time and now a huge number of females are inducted in the force. Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi also shared the progress of Pakistani Female participation in the Peacekeeping force and how the number is gradually increasing.

Pakistani Movie Talash Applauded at its Screening at United Nations HQ in New York
Talash, an acclaimed Pakistani feature film, which focuses on the detrimental impact of malnutrition and stunting on children’s development was screened at the U.N. Headquarters in New York on Tuesday evening before a large and distinguished gathering.
The show was arranged by the recently-formed UN staff Recreation Pakistan Club in the chamber of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) as part of the commemorations of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Right of the Child.
In brief remarks, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN Munir Akram, who was the chief guest, told the gathering that Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his first address to the nation after his assumption of the office, pledged to reduce child stunting and improve maternal health when he announced his reform agenda.
He said a number of projects have been launched in country to eradicate hunger and malnutrition in all its forms, especially in under-developed parts of the country.
Those programmes were in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that require governments worldwide to end hunger, achieve food security and improve nutrition by 2030, particularly for the poor and vulnerable sections of society, including infants
Directed by Zeeshan Khan, who was present on the occasion, the film’s first act is a breezy story about three medical students who are sent to a remote village in Tharparkar district of Sindh. They face many challenges in the feudal setup and eventually fulfill their professional duties.
Zeeshan Khan thanked the UN-Pakistan Club for providing him an opportunity to screen the film before an international audience amidst the revival of Pakistani cinema.
Botswana’s UN Ambassador Collen Vixen Kelapile, and senior UN officials, including Stewart Simonson, assistant director-general, WHO, and Haoliang Xu, assistant secretary-general, UNDP, praised the Pakistani movie on the critical subject of malnutrition and stunting of children. They gave facts and figures about the adverse impact malnutrition has on the development of children.
Also present were Ayesha Ali, Pakistan’s Consul General in New York and officers of the Pakistan Mission to the UN as well as members of the Pakistani community.
Muhammad Irfan Soomro, a senior UN official, and president of the Club said their aim was to promote friendship and cooperation among staff members and their families and to celebrate Pakistan’s culture and its diversity.

Rabia shared a photo on her Instagram, captured while filming a violent scene from the series that was eventually edited out in the final director’s cut.
Though the scene never made it to our screens but the actress shared her two cents on domestic violence and how passionately she disapproves of any such acts. She wrote in her caption.

Pakistan Plans Chinese Yuan Panda Bonds for 2020
Pakistan is planning to circulate its first round of Chinese yuan-denominated bonds also known as Panda bond in the first quarter of 2020.
Reportedly, Panda bonds worth an estimated $1 billion will be dispatched. This decision comes after the growing demand for the country’s debt as the economic conditions of the country have improved.
Muhammad Aurangzeb, president, and chief executive officer of Habib Bank Limited, told Geo News on Thursday:
“Pakistan is moving closer to debut Chinese bond sales. This will be the first time that the government will be assessing the Chinese capital market, which is the third-largest bond market in the world.”
He added that the finance ministry is planning on issuing the bonds as soon as they obtain the credit rankings from Chinese agencies. The process might take a couple of months.
HBL is assisting the government of Pakistan in launching the inaugural Panda Bond issue… we will be ready to ‘press the button’ with the government, in the first quarter of 2020.
Furthermore, the senior banker shared that the size of the bond offering is likely set at $1bn or equivalent CNY. The first tranche is expected to be $350 million equivalent CNY.
Moreover, 4 banks will be working on this deal as lead managers and financial advisors, including HBL, Citibank, CDB, and CITIC.
At the beginning, the bond could be targeted at the institutional investors to tap demand for this issuance. Banks and insurance companies are likely to buy this paper. But it is expected to gain appeal from individual investor later.
The CEO believes that this is a good window to issue Eurobond/Sukuk in the international debt market as well.
No doubt that it’s the best time to enter the international debt market due to monetary easing by the world’s major central banks.
Investors were seeking out higher-yielding assets to generate returns as the European Central Bank was expected to deliver quantitative easing and the US Federal Reserve has reduced interest rates.
Last but not least, Aurangzeb shared that the IMF’s programme can bring investors under confidence and help decide the best way to approach the debt market.
But, analysts said, these Panda bonds could be issued in China’s interbank market “provided” they were investment-grade rated, which Pakistan was not.
We have now to see what is the fate of Panda bonds in Pakistan and how the country will benefit from it in the long-run.

The HUAWEI Y9s delivers a truly immersive experience thanks to its power-packed features like a 6.59-Inch FHD+ Ultra FullView Display, a true 48MP Triple AI Camera and 16MP pop-up AI front camera.
The smartphone also comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage (expandable to 512GB). This time around, Huawei has gone above and beyond to bring its flagship design and features to the HUAWEI Y9s such as a premium glass body in the Breathing Crystal variant.
Pre-orders for the smartphone will begin from Saturday, 30 November and go till Friday, 06 December 2019.
The celebrations kicked off early with an intimate lunch with product reviewers and Huawei Experience Ambassadors (HEA). After lunch, the guests were taken for a photo walk at Lahore Delhi Gate.
It was led by HEAs Amjad Nawaz, Areesh Zubair, Izzah Shaheen Malik, Mustafa Ali and Mavikh Azam where they put the 48MP Triple AI rear camera and 16MP Pop-up AI front camera to test. Various AI modes like Blue Sky, Ancient Building and Greenery were explored along with the 120O Ultra Wide Angle & Macro modes. The location made for a perfect place to try different camera settings by the reviewers.
Back at the hotel, a live unboxing session for the HUAWEI Y9s was held with leading technology blogger Bilal Munir of VideoWaliSarkar and lifestyle influencer Amna Niazi of SiddySays.
The main event began with a speech from Huawei’s Country Manager Mr. Scott Huang in which he shed light on the stellar performance of Huawei in Q3 2019.
“In Q3 2019, we clinched a market share of 18.6%, securing our position as the second-biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world. Despite all the odds, our global smartphone shipments in 2019 have already crossed the 200 million mark by 22 October – a feat that we achieved 64 days earlier than in 2018.”

The audience then witnessed a product presentation followed by an announcement by Mr. Faisal Malik, Director – Commercial at Daraz.pk who revealed the grand opening of Huawei’s Flagship Store on Daraz.pk on 30 November 2019. The launch event was a glitzy affair with many renowned media houses, influencers, technological bloggers, Huawei guests and Huawei Experience Ambassadors in attendance.

Mera Bacha Alert App Formally Launched in KPK
November 29th,2019:It is no secret that the children of our country have been victims of sexual abuse time and again over the past few years.
Previously, our Prime Minister took the initiative to launch a “Mera Bacha Alert” app for immediate reports to the parents.
The app has been formally launched in the province of KPK by the Cheif Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan. The aim behind this launch of this app is to keep the parents and relatives of the missing child updated with the latest developments of the case and help the concerned department in the process of recovery.
The Minister of KPK appreciates the efforts of Performance Management and Reforms Unit KP for developing this application that is a crucial step in the given circumstances. He also expressed his views about the need for this app while addressing to the official ceremony.

The application will allow the parents of the missing children to report the event while adding pictures and attributes of the child. It will serve as a one-stop platform for all the regulating bodies and a notification will be sent to the District Police Office, RPO, Chief Seceratory and IGP.
The Cheif Minister also emphasized the importance of this application in such times when crimes against children are at the peak and assured that his government will provide all the possible assistance in the performance of this application.
October 2nd, 2019: Recently five cases of child-killing were reported in Chunian, which were kidnapped earlier, according to local police.
Last week, the police were informed about the body of a child in a ditch. Later, the police also recovered remains of two more minors from the sand dunes. A wave of shock and terror had gripped Chunian when the police recovered the bodies.
Locals suspected a gang was behind the killing of minor boys after rape. The traders association of Chunian had protested against the incident.
When protests began, the government took notice and an action plan was put in place.
However, it is an issue that needs constant attention and a recent step has been taken towards protecting the children of this country.
Yesterday, in a federal cabinet meeting, PM Imran Khan was briefed on these incidents and he subsequently ordered to develop an application called ‘Mera Bacha Alert’ for the immediate redressal of complaints related to missing children.

Linked with Pakistan Citizens Portal, the application will be ready in around 2 weeks time. It will help trace missing children; once data is entered in the app, it will directly be transferred to the police.
“Those found involved in such heinous crimes will be given an exemplary punishment.”
PM Imran Khan seems very serious about the recurring, heinous crimes against children. We hope that this step will prove to be helpful in tackling cases of child absuction and abuse in Pakistan.

Here’s How WhatsApp’s ‘Delete Message’ Feature Works!
WhatApp has once again rolled out yet another feature that its users have been waiting for quite a while.
The application is now gradually rolling out the self-destructing message feature for its Android Beta version.
WhatsApp is still working on updating this feature to make the experience better for all users for the time being.
In order for a message to self-destruct, the user will have to set a particular period of time.
Users who have enrolled themselves for Google Play beta programme can download the latest version.
Android users may not be able to see an update notification on their Google Play Store for the time being as it has not rolled out for everyone as of yet.
WhatsApp has renamed the feature’s name to ‘Delete Messages’. According to WABetaInfo, it will be initially available for group chats and can be enabled by the group’s administrators.
Once it is enabled, it can then be toggled in Contact Info or Group Settings.
There are five options for time intervals to choose from – 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month and 1 year.
What is more interesting is that when a user uses the ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature, a message can still be seen reading that something was deleted. However, with ‘Delete Messages’ it will be different, even after deletion, there will be no message as if it had never existed.
