Pakistan, Turkey Planning to Provide Dual Nationality to Citizens of Both Countries

Turkey and Pakistan are contemplating an agenda to make it simpler to give a dual nationality for both countries’ residents, in what would be a substantial boost in ties.

The proposal, which was revealed a few days ago was established in a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Ijaz Ahmad Shah and Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul.

As the strategy was formulated by Yurdakul, Shah responded by letting out that the draft for the law is “under consideration” and that “we hope to reach a mutual conclusion soon.

The modification of resultant bilateral connections was also discussed, especially that of the military alliance, with the upgrading of equipment and training operations for constitution enforcement being touched on.

Yurdakul also reported to Shah that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is slated to make a trip to Pakistan in the near future and that Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu will visit the region in February to review other courses with Shah.

If residents of both Pakistan and Turkey were prepared to obtain citizenship and dual passports of each others’ countries, it would mark the vastest bilateral move in both of the young nations’ history and would add significantly to their already-strong ties.

Furthermore, earlier this month, Pakistan extended time to Turkey to transmit domestically-made T129 attack helicopters, which were halted due to the penalties the US inflicted on Turkey.

Turkish ambassador to Pakistan Mustafa Yurdakul appreciated the situation, stating it would raise the interest of Turkish businesses to invest in Pakistan and better bilateral bonds.

He also stated that “Pakistan is a beautiful country, the people are hospitable and the country has a lot of secret beauties to discover.”

Pakistan also added Turkey to its visa-free travel list, making strives in tourism and industry between the two last year in May.

The band announced the news via social media expressing their joy.

The track ‘Paradise’ from their new album zer0 has the vocals of Asim Azhar. It’s their second album and we’re excited to announce that the track is out and ready to be added on your playlist.

Furthermore, singer Asim Azhar previously apologized to cricket fans after his PSL anthem with Ali Azmat and Haroon disappointed all the fans immensely.

Although, It appears as if the singer made up for it with his latest number ‘Paradise’ and blew the masses away with the tune and rhythm of the song.

Pakistan Declares National Emergency Over Locust Swarms!

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has declared a national emergency to protect crops from locust swarms and help farmers tackle the problem.

The government has shared that this is the worst locust infection the country has witnessed in over 2 decades.

“We are facing the worst locust infestation in more than two decades and have decided to declare a national emergency to deal with the threat,” Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Saturday.

The swarm had reportedly entered Pakistan via Iran in June 2019 and since then have ravaged cotton, wheat, maize, and other crops.

‘Cook Biryani & Karahai of it’: Agriculture Minister Tells Karachiites After Locusts Attack

Unfortunately, the favorable weather conditions and a delayed government response have helped the locusts breed and attack crop areas. Their ability for large-scale destruction is raising fears of food insecurity within the country.

National Food Security Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar said the locust swarms were currently on the Pakistan-India border around the Cholistan and were previously in Sindh and Balochistan, Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported.

The locust attack is unprecedented and alarming.

Action has been taken against the insect over 0.3 million acres (121,400 hectares) and aerial spray was done on 20,000 hectares.

District administrations, voluntary organizations, aviation division and armed forces are put into operation to combat the attack and save the crops. -Khusro Bakhtiar

Imran Khan has pledged to take action and tackle this challenge head-on adding that crop-protection and protection of farmers are on the government’s top priorities.

The federal government will take all possible steps and provide required facilities to protect crops from any possible danger with special focus on the danger of locust -Imran Khan, according to Dawn

Pakistan is not the only country to have declared this emergency. Other countries have also been highly impacted by these swarms including Somalia.

Mere Paas Tum Ho famed actor Humayun Saeed, on Saturday, confirmed that the audience will see him with Shees Sajjad Gul (Roomi) once again.

Humayun commented on an Instagram post which had asked the audience if they’d wanted to see the on-screen father-son duo back together.

Humayun replied on the post saying:

“Coming together soon Inshallah”.

Shees, although being just a child-star has melted the hearts of Pakistan with his acting skills in Mere Paas Tum Ho.

This means that earlier statements of writer Khalil-ur-Rehman talking about a sequel might actually be true and that the father-son pair may return to the screen in the second edition!

However, only time will tell whether the sequel will happen or not.

Suspected Patients Test Negative for Coronavirus in Pakistan as Screening Kits Arrive

Thousands of testing kits arrived in Pakistan from Japan and other sources. All seven suspects were tested for the coronavirus and were found completely safe.

Dr. Zafar Mirza, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) confirmed, “Just after getting the kits we decided to test all seven suspects who were kept in isolation wards of hospitals in Karachi, Multan, and other cities.”

He added, “Fortunately tests of all seven patients were found negative due to which we can surely say that there is no suspect of coronavirus in Pakistan.”

Earlier, Pakistan had no labs or resources to detect the virus, instead, the tests were sent abroad to be checked.

National Institute of Health in Islamabad is now equipped to test for the virus however Aga Khan University hospital is yet to receive the kits.

Reportedly, the government of Pakistan has resumed flight operations between China and Pakistan. Two flights have reached Islamabad from China on Monday, carrying passengers from the virus-hit region.

Mirza added, “At all airports, screening systems have been strengthened. The Pakistani government is prepared for any emergency situation.”

Dr. Zafar Mirza confirmed, “The health department has the facilities for detecting coronavirus cases.”,”At all airports, comprehensive screening arrangements are available.”

‘Zameen Expo 2020 Karachi’ concludes successfully, attracts more than 90,000 visitors

Pakistan’s largest real estate portal Zameen.com successfully concluded the two-day Zameen Expo 2020 Karachi on Sunday.

The event, which featured more than 140 builders and developers from across the country, attracted more than 90,000 visitors.

One the first day, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi and Zameen.com CEO Zeeshan Ali Khan formally inaugurated the Expo.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister Ali Zaidi said that real estate was one of the most important sectors of the economy.

“Since it is a leading indicator, growth in real estate stimulates the entire economy,” he said, and congratulated Zameen.com for its efforts to streamline the sector.

Zameen.com CEO Zeeshan Ali Khan said, “We have started this year with the Karachi Expo, which should benefit the real estate industry as a whole.”

EXCLUSIVE: Government of Pakistan Denies Issuing Mandatory Licence for Digital Content Creators

Panic had taken over the digital world in Pakistan after Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) issued a suggestion on its website that mandatory license fees should be paid by digital content creators, including YouTubers.

However, the Government of Pakistan has denied this news stating that the government has not issued such a notice for licensing of Web TV and Over The Top TV content services ( OTT ) that includes YouTube channels.

According to an official statement by Dr Arsalan Khalid the Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Digital Media:

“PEMRA, which is an autonomous regulator for electronic media has just posted a draft on their website asking for suggestions from the relevant stakeholders about how they think is the best way to regulate.

As far as the Govt is concerned we are steadfast and committed in our promise to facilitate and promote the digital media industry as much as possible. In just the last 10 months, this government for the first time has come up with the solutions to build an economy around the digital media, helping to create jobs and bring in new ideas through fresh content in the digital media landscape.

Prime Minister’s recent meeting with the Youtubers and Digital media publishers is a testimony in itself that this government is taking digital media very seriously. With a vibrant and flourishing industry, it is also important for the government to protect the interests of all stakeholders by bringing regulations that do not hamper the freedom of speech and at the same time also protects the rights of ordinary citizens.

We are witnessing that since it’s still an immature industry, various people with a mic and mobile phone in their hands become digital media reporters and start harassing other people through unknown youtube channels. Incidents like that of Sargodha where a lady doctor was harassed by unknown web channels, need to be stopped.

Similarly, YouTube channels with unknown owners promoting vulgar content or conspiracy theories or ‘fitna’ in the name of Islam is a dangerous trend and needs regulation.

However this doesn’t mean that heavy licensing fees are being introduced, it will be counterproductive. The government will not take any step without taking the digital community on board and like the digital advertising policy, the government will keep the community in the loop over all the developments on this front.”

The fee suggested on the PEMRA website is Rs 5 million for all digital content creators including YouTube and content that covers current affairs should be charged a fee is around Rs 10 million.

According to PEMRA, “Web TV and Over the Top TV (OTT) has seen tremendous growth in the past few years. While Web TV is there for quite some time as an alternate medium for streaming content such as news etc. Online, the OTT has become one of the widely used services where you, by subscribing to the service, can access it from anywhere in the world through the public internet.

Web TV is the equivalent of a traditional broadcast service whereby linear content can be streamed live and the service can be accessed free of cost by simply visiting the URL (website) of the service provider.

In this case, the revenue is generated through advertisements. The OTT is predominantly a nonlinear model whereby recorded content of various genres can be accessed only if you subscribe to the service, which requires payment of a monthly subscription fee.

Both services are getting popular day by day due to advancements in technology and the preferred use of small screens such as mobile devices or laptops and tablets. These services have posed a real challenge to legacy services such as satellite TV, Direct to Home & cable TV services.”

One of the most popular couples who have garnered a lot of attention amongst the people is Maya Ali and Sheheryar Munawar. The duo has been upon their game for a while now.

Maya Ali and Sheheryar Munawar have become one of the most admired reel couples for the audience and there no doubt about the fact that both look picture-perfect together.

It appears that that the actors are geared up for another project. Starlet Maya shared a picture with Sheheryar on her Instagram captioning ‘Jald Araha Hai’ (Coming Soon) and tagged her Paray Hut Love co-star.

While Maya Ali looks super pretty in an ethnic dress with dupatta, jhumkas and chooriyan Shehryar Munawar donnes in a kurta salwar and waste coat.

Although the actress didn’t give out ample details on what to expect, we’re assuming it to be a TVC.

When Ali and Munawar shared screen space on Paray Hut Love for the first time and stunned the viewers with their sizzling on-screen chemistry they earned their spot as our favourites.

Not too long ago Maya Ali and Sheheryar Munawar were present at a fundraiser for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital and Clinic (SKMHC) in Sweden.

The two were on a trip to Nordic countries including France, Sweden and Norway to collect donations for the hospital.

It’s visible that celebs today aren’t just constrained to solely acting or modeling, they’re also lending their hand to philanthropic undertakings.

Pakistani Student from Lyari Area has Returned from China Amid Raging Coronavirus Outbreak

A Pakistani student returned to the Lyari area of Karachi from China amid raging Coronavirus outbreak.

Arsalan Amin, a student was enrolled in a University in Wuhan, the city in China, most affected by the Coronavirus outbreak.

Ary News Reported, around 30,000 Pakistani students are still present in China enrolled in different universities.

Amin says he left the city before it was sealed by the authorities.

According to him, Amin reached Shanghai and later to Dubai on the 22nd of January and then returned back to Karachi.

“People are frightened from the outbreak in China and 559 Pakistani students have been stranded in Wuhan province, ” Amin said.

He further added, “The Chinese authorities are properly taking care of Pakistanis.”

“I was allowed to leave after required medical test clearance,” Arsalan Amin said.

Many countries have moved forward and taken steps to seal borders with China. Many have canceled flights to China and suspended the issuance of visas to Chinese citizens.

The U.S. State Department said in a new travel advisory on its website, “Do not travel to China due to novel coronavirus first identified in Wuhan.”

Suzuki Cultus Gets New Features & Another Price Hike!

Pak Suzuki has now introduced two new variants to its Cultus lineup.

The VXL and AGS are now available. However, at the same time, the brand has also hiked its price for the existing variants.

According to the brand, it has tried to justify the increase in prices with the new features.

The new features include an MP 5 capacitive multi-touch screens with an 8-inch display, Bluetooth, Auxiliary, USB, Radio, SD card slot, and screen mirroring option.

Prices of most vehicles have been increasing for quite a while now, and because of the constant hike in prices, sales have seen a major decline.

Because of this, many manufacturers including Pak Suzuki, Honda, and Toyota, who are known to be the big 3 in the industry have seen non-production days (NPD) and some have even laid-off employees.

PEMRA Suggests that Licensing Fees Should Now be Mandatory for Digital Content Creators

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) issued a suggestion announcing that a license fee should be charged from digital content creators including web channels, Over The Top TV content services ( OTT ) that includes YouTube channels across Pakistan.

The PEMRA website quotes,

The extensive growth of the web TV & OTT market and the excessive disruption of these services to traditional broadcast services have made regulators vigilant all over the world. Moreover, the broadcasters /TV operators and other traditional service providers are losing their market share to online web TV and content providers.

There are other regulatory issues also which necessitate it to regulate & hence license the Web TV & OTT services. For example, all PEMRA licensed broadcasters are subject to compliance with code of conduct-2015 which requires the operators to have in-house delaying mechanism and

editorial control to filter out content which is not in compliance with the code of conduct etc. However, the web TV and OTT players are not subject to any code of conduct & other PEMRA laws. Moreover, as a regulator, it is the responsibility of PEMRA to provide a level playing field to all. Since OTT & Web TV operators are competing for the same advertisement or subscription revenue as the licensed operators…

The Youtube Licence should become mandatory. Here is the link to PEMRA suggestions/proposals to regulate digital content issued on the 8th of January. Comments can be submitted no later than the 14th of February’20.

The fee of the Youtube License is suggested to be Rs 5 million for all digital content creators and incase your content deals with topics of current affairs the fee is around Rs 10 million.

Content creators around the globe practice the freedom of speech while in Pakistan things are not the same. The license fee will become a hurdle for a lot of creators.

The driving force behind this policy is perhaps certain social media channels.

Pakistan has already missed out on a huge learning bracket back in 2012 when Youtube was banned in the country for three years.

At that point in time, vlogging had just begun and content creators across the globe on Youtube were amateurs. There was plenty of room for making mistakes and learning.

Once the ban was lifted after three years, Pakistani content creators had to compete in an international market that had already polished their skills leaving us far behind in the digital world.
