Crescent for the month of Rabi ul Awwal has been sighted in several parts of Pakistan, reports Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (CRHC) on Wednesday.
The first of Rabi ul Awwal will be tomorrow, Thursday, December 1st while the birthday of Holy Prophet (PBUH) i.e. 12th of Rabi ul Awwal will be observed on Monday, December 12th.
After chairing a meeting of the moon sighting in Islamabad, CHRC Chairman Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman made an official announcement.
According to a statement by the Meteorological Department, there was a fair chance of Rabi-ul-Awwal, 1438 moon sighting today November 30th, 2016 and 29th of Safar, 1438, reports Samaa news.
12 Rabi ul Awwal will be will be celebrated across Pakistani with much religious zeal ad fervor on December 12th.

Pakistan’s equity market is unshakeable by the rise in US interest rates! Unaffected by the fluctuating interest rates of developed countries, Pakistan’s equity market continues to beat China’s and India’s by a broad margin.
According to Forbes, Pakistan’s ETF has increased by 16% over the past 1 year , leaving India and China’s ETF in the dust -this was quite an unexpected result.
Becoming more competitive in the worldwide economy recently, India’s economy reached 39th position, rising by 16 rankings. However, the Indian economy is still at the 122th position at the World Forum ranking.
There are relatively some explanations for Pakistan’s unshakeable stock market lead over China and India. First being, that Pakistan’s is a frontier economy while China and India are both emerging markets depicting that Pakistan’s economy is less vulnerable to the global economy in comparison to India and China.
The economy is also therefore, less exposed to fluctuations in the interest rate of developed economies, such as the US.
Another reason is the increased Chinese investment into the Pakistani economy turning the country into a coridoor for Beijing to tap into Africa’s riches and Middle East’s oil reserves.
What is more, investor expectations are being hyped up due to the overseas endorsements by institutions for Pakistan’s market reforms.
World Bank has provided support of $1 billion while some foriegn suitors have made domestic acquisitions like Karachi’s K-Karachi acquisition by Shanghai Electric Power Co.
Pakistan’s equity market has been praised by foriegn investors and overseas institutions while Indian markets have been shaken due to various currency experiments conducted by Modi.
On the other hand, foriegn investors are scared to invest in China’s markets due to the return of strict government policies

While dealing with such issues, hackers seem to be finding new ways to get access to personal information, whether they be big names like Mark Zuckerberg or innocent people who have shared their personal information on the internet.
Recently, hackers have found a new way to hack devices, that too using social media images.
A security firm called Check Point, has discovered a new ransomware, which comes in the form of image files downloaded through our social networks. According to ProPakistani, Cheekily dubbed “ImageGate” by the company, the new malware exploits the way networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter handle images.
The hacker only has to trick the user into downloading an infected image file from these networks, after its completion, there is little that can be done to prevent the ransomware from taking over the user’s PC.
“The attackers have built a new capability to embed malicious code into an image file and successfully upload it to the social media website.”
“The attackers exploit a misconfiguration on the social media infrastructure to deliberately force their victims to download the image file. This results in infection of the users’ device as soon as the end-user clicks on the downloaded file.”
The software targets users via phishing scams, in order to get access to their personal information. It encrypts the user’s data before demanding some sort of ransom. The best way to avoid being a part of this scam is to not open any file which as downloaded by itself and has an unusual format.

Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in his first ever project with Imtiaz Ali taking the directorial command. The film project has been named ‘The Ring’ for now as per the buzz. His leading lady will be the bubbly beauty Anushka Sharma.
This will be SRK’s third movie with Anushka Sharma after Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Not much is revealed about the movie, however, it is a high-flying romantic flick. The Bollywood film is slated for a 2017 release.
“Imtiaz has a different language of love. I told him I wanted to do a happy love story. And this is one, but keeping my age in mind, it’s not an upbeat, young love story. But, Imtiaz has a nice take on it. And hopefully, people will like it,” said Shah Rukh Khan, who will be leading along with co-star Anushka Sharma in the romance film.
Both of the lead superstars will be heading towards Budapest to start filming for this romantic project. Imtiaz Ali has been long wanting to collaborate with King Khan.
Shah Rukh Khan will also be seen in the film Raees with Mahira Khan and a few other diverse movies such as Dear Zindagi alongside Ali Bhatt. The upcoming year appears to be much promising for the B-Town royalty. Let’s wait and watch!

Seems like Pakistan’s big-wig Oil and Ghee brands are in great trouble. Punjab Food Authority (PFA) have declared the production of various brands, including Shaan Banaspati, Soya Supreme Cooking Oil and Season Banaspati as substandard and unfit for human consumption.
Apparently, PFA raided ghee and vanaspati manufacturing units and took samples for testing purposes.
Notices have been issued to the companies to explain their position in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has requested PFA to cease raids on Ghee and Vanaspati production units as businesses are facing losses due to raids being conducted by the Authority.
A recent study discovered that out of a total of 24 million Pakistani children who are not enrolled in schools, around 13 million are girls, which comes to more than half is equivalent to about 53%. Having one of the highest illiteracy rates in the world, Pakistan has not shown significant progress only displaying signs of an increase in illiteracy.
The UN target of achieving 88% literacy by 2015 was not achieved last year by Pakistan as its literacy rate was approximately 58% of the whole population. Girls are a large portion of the children currently not enrolled in school. A recent report by Ali Ailaan, an NGO, through their findings shed light on the numerous challenges experienced by Pakistani children solely for their education.
The report stated, “Pakistan has the second-largest number of out-of-school female students in the world.” The main reason for girls not attending school, or dropping out before graduation, seem to be their parent’s lack of permission. The study revealed that “In rural areas, 67% of women aged 15 and above have never seen the inside of a classroom.”
The overall enrolment rate for girls was found to be 53% and 60% for boys. However, only 58% of girls who enter school complete primary schooling and drop out due to a variety of circumstances which can range from lack of expenses, lack of will, no permission, and more.
This chart indicates all the reasons behind the lack of schooling for girls.
The inequality between boys and girl enrolled in an educational system seems to differ from region to region with 52% girls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa not in school, compared to just 21% of boys.

A Pakistani-Canadian entrepreneur wants to bring his Toronto-based mobile firm, K-Mobile, into the local Pakistani market. Currently, the business is evaluating the possibilities of entering the market, and whether it would be a fruitful experiment in the near future.
Mr Shami Munir, the Founder and President of K-Mobile, along with other business executives, visited Pakistan and spoke with relevant stakeholders to assess the Pakistani market and chances of bringing K-Mobile in Pakistan.
Mr Shami said, “Over the past 17 years, I have launched several companies in Canada in the telecommunications industry. Having immigrated from Pakistan, I am eager to explore these Canadian-Pakistan business opportunities and look for valuable synergies”.
The k-mobile president said that Canadian companies like K-Mobile have the expertise to enhance ICT connections between Pakistan and Canada. “With a Canadian-Pakistani Diaspora of 300,000 individuals and Pakistan consumer base of 50 million, there is a great opportunity to leverage a new business-to-business collaboration.”
K-Mobile is a multi-million dollar venture and telecom service provider setup in the Greater Toronto Area. As of now, the company aims to set up and open more retail stores and offers more plans to their consumer by 2018.

General Raheel Sharif, the 15th Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army, has been serving for almost three years since the election of his position on 29th November by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He is set to retire next month in November, however, due to the increased tensions between Pakistan and India, it seems as though the length of his term may be extended.
With relations between Pakistan and India over Kashmir turning for the worse, it is safe to assume that he will return to his position, regardless of his affirmations of his retirement on the set date.
On the other hand, there have been rumors of the extent of General Sharif’s power after his retirement. Many media and government officials do believe that he will continue to have some influence, if not more, after the end of his term.
Nawaz Sharif, although under the influence of several PMLN leaders to increase General Sharif’s term, is incredibly keen on the retirement. Sources have argued that his position could be altered to Field Marshall, although Nawaz Sharif seems hesitant to comply with that request.
It is being said that this is because he would like to assert the power that he lost during General Sharif’s reign and that may possibly be achieved when General Sharif steps down from his position. At the end of the day, Nawaz holds the responsibility to decide whether to offer the extension or to appoint a new Army Chief.

Even during his exit, General Raheel Sharif made sure to leave with impact! Outgoing military chief of Pakistan, warned India against adopting an aggressive stance in Kashmir during his final speech, as he handed over power to successor COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Sharif cautioned India against perceiving “restraint” of Pakistan over the ongoing Kashmir disputes as a weakness!
“Unfortunately, in recent months, increasing state terrorism in [Indian] occupied Kashmir, and India’s aggressive steps have put the region’s peace in danger,” Raheel Sharif said.
At a vibrant and colorful ceremony held at Army Hockey Stadium, Rawalpindi, General Raheel Sharif welcomed the incoming, 57-year-old Bajwa chief as he handed over power of the world’s sixth-largest army by troop numbers.

Soaring tensions between both the neighboring nations have aggravated after a deadly attack on Indian army base occurred back in September and New Delhi accused the Pakistan-based militants. India then responded by conducting surgical strikes across the border, sparking raging anger from Islamabad- Pakistan denied any such strikes.
Many Pakistanis called for Sharif to extend his term as he stepped down from his three-year tenure on Saturday.
Uniformed soldiers marched while military bands played at the ceremony on Tuesday- the outgoing chief handed a wooden cane over to Gen. Bajwa, his successor as a symbol of power.

Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) has announced the acquisition of e-commerce solution firm, Bluecom Group. The company will be becoming a part of the digital platform of DAN, Isobar China Group and will be rebranded as “Isobar Commerce”, in a bid to strengthen the position of the network
Bluecom is headquartered in Shanghai and has regional offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Ho Chi Minh City. The clientele spans over Greater China, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia and Australia/New Zealand.
Formed in 2012, Bluecom specializes in design and implementation of e-commerce consulting and providing platforms and solutions of multi-channel online stores for medium to large, international, B2B and B2C companies across Asia Pacific.
Isobar Commerce adds extensive scale to Isobar China Group’s commerce capabilities. It will work with mobile commerce arm, Verystar – Linked by Isobar, to offer capabilities covering e-commerce and mobile commerce to accelerate clients’ global Omni-channel strategy.
Patrick Deloy and Florian Legendre, managing directors of Bluecom, will join the Isobar leadership team to drive strategy and manage business development for Isobar Commerce in the region, reporting to Jane Lin-Baden, CEO of Isobar Asia Pacific.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project ensured the construction of the 411-kilometer railway between Lahore and Peshawar, which China has officially come on board for, as confirmed by a railway official this Sunday.
China has recently acquired an additional $8.5 billion for the establishment of these railway tracks in Pakistan under the CPEC project as stated by Muhammad Javed Anwar, chief executive officer and senior general manager Pakistan Railways. Work has already commenced on the tracks considering China has sent a team of engineers to evaluate the railway line in each city.
Muhamad Javed has also said that the Chinese construction men and engineers have been constantly planning this event to ensure its ultimate success. He added that safety during construction is Pakistan’s main concern at the moment. The plan hopes to bring cities’ geographically allocated businesses, ventures, and educational sectors closer together.
Tourism companies in both areas are doing their best to confirm this project’s completion in the shortest amount of time required, considering the vast improvement in tourism it will bring to Pakistan. The 411-kilometer China-Pak railway will be a significantly cheaper option of traveling to and from the respective locations.
The tourism ministry is also working hand in hand with Pakistan Railways in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to warrant the railway’s construction.
Railway planning has already taken place while the construction has said to commence by next year, once the track are approved.
In order to strengthen ties with Pakistan, Japan has decided to set up the National University of Technology and Skills Development in the nation by 2017.
This is not the first time the Japanese have partnered with Pakistan. Earlier, there have been an array of socio-economic projects between the two states, especially since Japanese products have been imported in Pakistan innumerable times.
The budget of the project is set at Rs. 700 million and aims to immensely help the educational sector of Pakistan.
The representatives of Construction Technology Training Institute of Islamabad (CTTI) and Japan’s official development assistance (ODA) held a meeting last Thursday to discuss strategies and arrangements.
Director of CTTI, Jamil Ahmed stated, “The draft law for the establishment of the university would soon be tabled after approval. It has also extended technical cooperation under which it has assisted with the modification of curriculum and textbook and with the provision of latest equipment in order to match modern technology and requirement of the industrial sector.”
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has allowed up to 5 subjects to be taught at the university, with alterations to be made in the future. Once the university has been fully constructed, then courses will be selected.
However, the CTTI offers several courses including Automobile Engineering, Civil Engineering, Diesel and Mechanical Engineering. Noting the success of Confucius Institute in National University of Modern Languages in Pakistan, this upcoming university may be similarly beneficial to the country.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was actually formed after the establishment of the CTTI, which was actually constructed back in 1986. Formerly known as Construction Machinery Training and then later changed in 1992 to Construction Technology Training Institute.
