PEMRA Fines Nickelodeon For Airing Indecent Content

The Pakistani Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) is on a roll with strict actions being taken by the media watchdog against Nickelodeon (Nick) for showing indecent content in its episode,  “The Emperor’s Throne” from the popular series “Winx Club”.

A show cause notice was sent to Nickelodeon on April 28th, 2017 for airing the questionable episode where a character was shown to be dressed indecently. PEMRA has now fined the cartoon channel an amount of PKR 500,000.

A snapshot from the episode is shown below.

This is not the first time action has been taken against a cartoon. Earlier on, a show by the name, “Emperor has no clothes on” was banned by the regulatory body after receiving numerous complaints from concerned parents.
